The seekers have to be clear in their mind that the sole purpose of spiritual discussion is to lead the mind to its very source, the Self. They should spread skilfully the Teacher’s words as a wide net, and trap their own bird-like mind. Assiduous introspection pursued by the intelligence alone can act upon the desultory or digressive mind. The power of introspection is tremendous. Truthful introspection will surely lead the mind to Self-absorption.

Dream is a state which shows us indisputably that the Consciousness manifesting wakefulness and withdrawing it in sleep, has all the potential to display anything and everything without help from a second factor. Consciousness brings into force time, space, and objects. If a creator, a ‘God’, is necessary for creation of objects, then Consciousness brings that ‘God’ first, and through Him the dream creation.

With the turbulence produced by the outgoing senses, the mind will naturally lose its peace and stability. Instead of allowing the senses to overpower it, the mind must be equipped to overwhelm the senses. For this, the seeker should reflect constantly upon the Soul and gain adequate inner spiritual strength. As the mind gets sufficiently sublimated and strengthened, its influence will be felt on the senses.

Vairāgya or dispassion is a great virtue that should enrich the mind of any one, especially a seeker. Real vairāgya grows from an earnest rational evaluation of our life in the world, and it instills into the mind unfailing strength and loftiness. Only in the presence of vairāgya, all possessions become truly enjoyable. Bereft of vairāgya, even the family life turns out to be a burden.

Karma is indispensable. But any karma will produce bondage. The way to avoid bondage and agitation is to transform every karma into a yajña.

The purpose of ceremonial yajña is to teach the performer the joy of dispossession. Any karma becomes yajña when performed without the sense of possession and attachment. It is this all-time yajña attitude of the mind – and not the time bound material-based ceremony – that Sri Krishna prescribes as the panacea for all the sufferings of humanity.
