3 years later we finally back 😩 can’t believe so much time has passed. Because it’s been so long ngl I don’t really remember anything from season 1 other than the Celia wedding that Haruto interrupted I think? So I’m glad they kinda eased us back into things in this first ep. This is one of the situations when a recap episode would’ve been nice tho lol.

Haruto getting another harem member and meeting people from earth who are presumably his siblings is cool. Like I said I’m hazy on season 1, so does Haruto not remember much about his past life or has he created another persona subconsciously? Because I notice he refers to Haruto on earth in the third person and seems to be hazy himself on details about his little sister.

Aishia and Celia yuri?? That kiss was so cute lol. I can tell there’s gonna be a lot of fun banter this season as Haruto harem expands likely with Miharu. Only issue I really had with the episode was the double voice line stuff. Really could’ve done without that and it’s kinda distracting lol. I get they’re trying to drive home that they’re speaking different languages but cmon. Other than that, really fun ep.

some of these isekais are fucking crazy man. i was watching spirit chronicles season 2 and i swear to god everytime a woman meets the mc they go weak at the knees. this man will eventually end up with 74 wives and 189 children

When the S2 of an anime airs 3 years later and you only remember fragments of the first season so now you have to watch a recap video to connect the dots 😭

Really missed seirei gensouki so much so glad to see it back

New op is nothing compared to the first op. It was a true masterpiece. I remember it being one of my fav songs from that season and that year. New op can't even compare to New Story but let's see, who knows it might grow on me in the upcoming eps

So I'm reading "Spirit Chronicles" at the mo....

It's got some interesting takes on Ye Standard Isekai Tropes, I'll give it that. It's so slow-paced I'm feeling comfortable about my own pacing in my writing, so there's that as well.

Harem! In this case, yes he's aware they all Like-Like him, and he'd really like nearly all of them to like him about 30 percent less. Unfortunately, he's a civilized guy who's always polite and pathologically aware of relative rank (srsly, it qualifies as a trauma response for pretty good reasons) and so if a woman outranks him - which is most women - he has a very hard time figuring out how to say 'no, please no, fuck off kindly' without causing offense. Hence, harem.

The women, for their part, I'm pretty sure Profess Their Love partly just to keep this guy around. They're nearly all noblewomen, and it doesn't take long for the reader to realize 99 percent of noblemen in this series are Horrible Fucking People. A polite, kind young man who's easy on the eyes, never makes one scumbag-ish move, and incidentally has the combat power of an entire first-world-nation military force by himself, who's very protective of his friends and absolutely merciless to would-be-rapists? VERY HANDY FRIEND TO HAVE. And he's willing to teach all these ladies some very effective self-defense techniques, too.

That said, Our Protag does have his love interest - and she's from his first/Japan life, so the fact that she's STILL his one and only is probably the sweetest thing in the whole story - and seventeen books in and the two of them have yet to actually have That Particular Talk. (Hence, also, Harem.)

Reincarnation isekai that deals with the personality and memory issues that should logically result from clearly remembering being a completely different person in a completely different environment. Dis Boy Need A Therapist...except who'd even believe him?

Summoning Isekai that deals honestly with the very logical effects of randomly sucking noncombatant teenagers into a heavily class-stratified world with hugely different societal norms. Out of six summoned heroes we have: 1 mostly decent guy, 1 mostly decent girl. One guy that's practically catatonic, one that's decided fuck this shit he wants to write light novels and locked himself in a room to do that, one guy that due to an overly arrogant bet he lost is now working for the Evil Empire, and one woman who's gone full on Joker and seems to be aiming to set the whole world on fire global-revolution-to-anarchy style. All of whom have magical OP weapons fused into their very bodies such that you cannot, ever, disarm them. Or even kill them; I mean the one now working for the evil empire got dismembered and got better from it. I'm 17ish books in and looking forward to how they figure out how to kill these people.

There's a lot of political maneuvering wherein you're very quickly going to conclude that All Nobles Fucking Suck. I think vive-la-revolucion heroine is around partly to demonstrate why her way is actually even worse, because by the time you meet her there's a knee-jerk "oh fuck, a noble" reaction.

Seirei Gensouki: Spirit Chronicles Season 2 - 5

3.5 year wait for this second season and other than the last two episodes I can’t say it was worth the wait. Most of the season was a nothing burger yapfest, and even when we did have action it looked like a PowerPoint presentation.

I’ll still stick around if we get a season 3 because I do want to see more of the heroes, see what Lucius and Reiss’ next steps will be and ultimately who’s pulling their strings. This season felt like a stop gap measure between the real meat and potatoes of the story.

Cliffhanger ending wow. Cat is finally out of the bag with Haruto’s real identity, he didn’t think that one thru clearly lol. But I guess Miharu was gonna learn anyway. Reiss is at the banquet too?! Still got the whole drama with Flora to deal with as well. The girls carried this season imo. Other than Lucius it was a snooze fest outside of them
