IT HAS ALWAYS BEEN A TOP priority to maintain peak health, and while the young man has no extraordinary physical abilities to his name, he makes no excuse about his shortcomings. hard work can and will pay off -- he swears by it. brows curl together with all the seriousness of someone in the heart of WAR, heart thrumming in a steady pattern. morning jogs have been a part of his routine for as long as he could remember, working hard even before starting the school day. when is he not busy?
nevertheless, he still knows his limits, crawling to a steady pace as he takes to the netwalk. breathing steadies, throat parched. even with this habit cultivated for years and years, he's not INFALLIBLE. eyes focus upon his own reflection within the glass of a vending machine, tiredness resting in the dark circles under that gaze. crouching down, he fishes for spiralzon wallet, ordering a bottle of water to cool off. the thing jolts, two bottles instead tumbling out. the young man blinks, holding the spare up to the nearest person. she looks like she's been EXERCISING too:
❝excuse me, i've got a SPARE. hydration is important too - please take it.❞

Knights of the Slice don’t normally appeal to me (no offense meant, just a personal aesthetic preference thing), but I couldn’t pass on this guy! I love the addition of the cloth jumpsuit #glyos #kots #knightsoftheslice #vectorjump #spiralzone #independenttoys #toycollector #toycommunity #glyossystem #glyoscompatible #glyosconnection

Today @illingsworth & I watched the first episode of an 80s cartoon called Spiral Zone & this lie happened in the first 2 minutes… why even draw barbed wire if it serves no purpose?

S.D. Joe LOBAT dropping in store tomorrow 3:00pm, enter #armcontest7 to win! S.D. Joe proportions are inspired by another super deformed line from the 80s, "Spiral Zone"! Collectors @ericnilla, @brownnoize and several others got me hooked on the aesthetic a while back. Did I mention the LOBAT is compatible with the Spiral Zone tank commander? 😉✔. #gijoecommunity #gijoe #gijoenation #80stoys #keshi #designertoys #japanesetoys #japantoys #customtoys #minitoys #spiralzone

So here’s the proper beginning of Bandai Spiral Zone world... from the April 1985 issue of Mokei Jouhou magazine. This is the first chapter of a serialized novella detailing the adventures of group of futuristic soldiers fighting in the Zone. It builds on the foundation laid in the series of “Fireball” articles from 1984, gritty near-future milspec vehicles and personal armor. This first chapter sets up the format the series will follow; a nicely illustrated 3-4 page chapter, followed by a spotlight on a particular weapon or vehicle. Sadly there’s no translation of the text. It was also republished as a stand alone novel, with some additional illustrations. The Desert Monitor, pictured above, was prototyped for the 1/12 line, but was never actually produced(scans to come).

B-Club Magazine, Feb. 1986, Spotlight article on Sentinel Bear Armor and Figure kit from SpiralZone. Really playing up the multimedia aspect of the kit. Breat shot of a painted-up, lightly weathered version of the armor. My favorite aspect of this are the two figures in the upper left. I think they might be characters from the serialized novel. The uniform design on the female figure looks remarkably like the “Eagle Eye” armor from the Spazon Club line. Also pictured is a cool custom Kamen Rider, built on a SZ figure base. The issue has a 3-page how-to, for those old school tokusatsu fans who might want to roll their own.

Here’s another scan from B-Club magazine, issue #5 (March 1986) featuring SZ related images. First pages feature a 1/12th scale scratchbuilt IronDuck built by kamed modeler/designer Makoto Kobayashi. This only shows up in toy form in the SD line. Absolute realtype goodness here, though. There’s also a Kikaider/Hakaider photocomic using customized SZ action figure bodies.

MY GREATEST TAMASHII NATIONS WISH: SPIRAL ZONE!
I would love to see Bandai / Tamashii Nations revamp Spiral Zone. It was one of my favorite toylines as a kid...although I admit it is fairly obscure. The japanese line definitely outshines the US releases (via Tonka).
I've mocked up the above figure using a Saint Seiya base body. The figures could use the same method of snap on armor and clothing.

ANYONE AGREE WITH ME? WOULD YOU BUY A RELAUNCH OF SPIRAL ZONE?
