The Accident
Chromeskull x OC(female) Alex Hey guys! So this is the first chapter to my story I have been working on for a while. If you ya’ll like it, I’ll post the rest of the chapters on here. Chapter 1 It had all happened so fast. One minute Alex was going about her day, driving into work. The next minute she woke up in a haze, barely able to move her left arm. Touching her head she groaned as the headache forced her back down onto the pillow. Her vision blurry making her nauseous, closing her eyes tightly. A sharply dressed man and someone looking like they just got off their job working for the Geek squad walked over to her bed side. Alex heard the foot steps and opened her eyes again. While the geek guy with the tablet typed some things in the sharp dresser leaned to her face. “Hello there, I am obligated to ask how you are feeling but quiet frankly I don’t care.”
Alex closed her eyes tight again, “Am I…In the hospital?” The man huffed and straightened himself out, “No but you don’t need to know where you are. Quite frankly soon you won’t need to know anything about anything soon. I’m going to be taking you to my bo-“While he was talking, Alex lurched to the side of the bed, puking all over his shoes. The man screamed and took a few steps back, “Are you kidding me! These are real leather! HEY! Take care of her while I clean up.” Tablet man nodded and went to the monitors, while the other one walked away in anger.
“Miss I’m going to need your arm.” The man softly took her arm, but Alex lazily pulled it away, “Noooo my health insurance isn’t going to cover that. I’m broke.” The man took her arm again, but Alex roughly grabbed his neck, starting to choke him out, “No means NO asshole! She shoved him off his feet, causing him to fall back. Alex pulled the tubs off her body and slowly stood up, fumbling down onto the concrete floor. “Oooww….gotta…get to…car…” Crawling to a wall she leaned into it, pushing herself up onto her feet. Walking along the wall, she started making her way out of the makeshift hospital ward. Alex’s vision was slowly coming back, but she still felt loopy. They must have had her on some heavy pain killers or sedatives. Looking down at her arm, she finally noticed it was in a cast.
“Well damn, maybe angry man will sign you. But after I get out.” Walking around the building she ended up in a tool show area filled with knives and other weapons. Mouthing the word ‘cool’ she wandered in as two men were grinding down on some metal. One of them noticed her picking up a hunter’s knife with brass knuckles welded to them. “Hey! You can’t be in here!” She turned to them and pointed at what they were making, “Is that a fidget spinner knife?” One of the guys looked down at it, then back at her nodding with a shrug in his shoulders. Alex snickered, “That’s….stupid..” She started wandering away, one of them men picked up the phone yelling ‘code 12’ into it. Preston was in the bathroom cleaning his shoes when code twelve started getting yelled over the speaker of the building. Preston looked at the door, “Code twelve!? WHAT CODE TWELVE?!” Just then his cellphone went off, a text coming in from ‘Boss’. Picking it up it read ‘why is there a code twelve in my building? Fix it.’ Preston cursed as he pocketed his phone, running out of the bathroom. Alex still wandering the building, she walked up to an office map, rubbing her eyes while she saw double. “Where am I? Is this come kind of private hospital? Oh, shit I’m really gonna get screwed on my insurance. How did I…end up here?”
Closing her eyes, she focused on what she could remember. She was in her car listening to her favorite playlist while driving somewhere. Her car hit someone else car or they hit her? She got out, talked to the driver, she’s holding something? But then he… she groaned as her head throbbed. That was all her brain was letting her remember at the moment. Looking at the map again she saw a long hallway that looked like it said ‘Boss office’ on it. Figuring that was who to talk to about this, she started wobbling down the hallway again. She wandered into a break room, luckily for her it was empty. Opening their fridge, she saw some waters bottles that she knew she could never afford in her lifetime. Grabbing one with her somewhat free hand she just for the life of her couldn’t remember how to open it. Shrugging as she placed the water bottle on the countertop, Alex used as much of her brain power that she had at the moment. Her solution was to start stabbing at it softly, raising the bottle up, letting the water flow into her mouth.
“HEY! KNOCK THAT OFF” Snappy dresser Preston was back, and he was pissed. Shaking the bottle off her knife she frowned at him, giving him a meek wave. Rubbing his eyes, Preston glared daggers at her, “If you know what’s good for you, you will follow me back to your bed.” Alex shook her head no, “I’m going to see your boss.” Preston stared walking to her slowly, “You will see him when he comes to see you in the bed. Now come here.” Alex just stood there, staring at the man, watching his moves. Was really going to underestimate someone holding a knife? That’s really stupid of him. Once in arms length, Preston went to grab her free arm, but Alex pulled back quickly. Dodging around him, she lowered her reach, cutting right behind his knee, causing him to scream out in pain. Preston fell on the ground, holding the back of his leg. “YOU crazy BITCH!” Wiping the blood on her gown she realized she was not in her normal clothes. Frowning she started to wobble out of the room, but not before Preston grabbed her ankle, trying to pull her down. Alex started stomping on his wrist then his head, causing him to yell out in pain. When he let go, she started waddling her way down the hallway.
After wandering for what felt like forever, she finally found the hallway she was looking for. Still feeling loosely goosey, climbing the stairs was much harder than she thought it would be. Every step causing her to see double, the pain killers must have started to wear off cause now her arm started to hurt. Getting to the top of the stairs, she was greeted by a well-dressed woman. “Ah, so you’re our code twelve I see. The little secret Preston was keeping from our boss Chromeskull.” Alex leaned against the wall, “Are you the head doctor here? I’m starting to hurt. Can I talk to the boss here please? I wanna get my car and leave.” This woman was Spann, though Preston was Chromeskulls right hand man, she recently had been cleaning up all of his messes. After their boss’s accident, Preston had been trying to find ways to get rid of Spann so that he would have full control with the workings of the business. But Spann knew if Preston’s little secret came wondering into Chromeskulls office, she would finally have some leverage to prove to the boss that Preston was an incompetent boob.
Spann took Alexs shoulder and walked her towards the boss’s office door. Opening it for Alex, Spann ushered the weak woman in, closing the door behind her. The dark office made it a little easier to see. The lights were hurting her eyes anyways. A computerized voice came from her side, ‘How did you get in here?’ Alex turned to see a man sitting at the desk. He was wearing a black dress shirt and a black suit jacket on, buts all she could make out, the computer moneters light didn’t show his face. Alex pointed to the door, “Angry dress man said you wanted to see me..or…at the bed?” The pain was making her whole body pulsate. Her body was not use to her walking around anymore. How long was she out for?
Alex walked towards the desk, holding up the knife but placing it down in front of him, “Sorry about your knife. Its cool so I took it with me. Do you…where am I?” She could feel the man staring at her but not showing his face. He pulled a cellphone out of his jacket pocket, typing something. Holding the phone out, it started talking ‘You should not be here.’ Alex nodded, “I told sharp dress man that but he said I was a surpise for you and honestly don’t like surpises they stress me out so I puked on him and…and..” She covered her mouth, heaving coming from her throat. The man at the desk stood up quickly, walking over to her, he pulled her towards the private bathroom. A big hand slid to pull her long copper hair back as she puked into the toilet.
“I-I’m sor-“ She heaved again, using her all strength to hold up her shaking body. “I don’t remember anything. Just car accident an-“ Alex’s time was up, all her energy was gone, her shaky hand reached for him clinging onto his dress shirt. Alex felt what was a napkin wipe her face. Follower by a glass of water, gulping it down and Alex started ugly crying. “Thank you. You’re nice.” Looking up at his face, she was greeting by a metallic skull looking town at her. The man towered over her, broad shoulders, masculine jaw, and a chrome skull mask staring at her. Maybe it was the drugs still in her body, maybe it was the exhaustion but Alex just hugged the man, snuggling her face into his defined chest her tears soaking into his jacket. They both stood there for a minute until Alex pulled back, looking up at him. Her vision going double again, then black, her body giving out, “Oh down I go” Her body falling over, but towering man caught her half way down.
Preston ran into Chromeskulls office, his leg bandaged and his face red from running. Chrome skull was sitting behind his desk again while Alex was sleeping on his couch, his jacket cover her. ‘Why is she here.’ Chromeskulls phone asked Preston. Preston straightens himself out, “I know this looks bad, but she’s the woman from the accident I told you about! See, we all know you’re looking for someone who looks like your dead wife so here she is! Close look huh?” Chromeskull sat in silence, eventually typing, ‘Get out.’ Preston pointed at Alex, “So I’m in trouble for trying to do something good for you?! If Spann did this, you’d be over the moon! I do everythin-“Chromeskull stood up and typed, ‘Get out’ one more time. Preston huffed and walked out, slamming the door behind him. Chromeskull let out a sigh as he texted Spann to get the body moving car ready , as well as make sure one of the doctors was ready to depart with their medical supplies. He looked at the passed out woman, studying her features. Pulling out his wallet he pulled out an old photo. It was one of him and his late wife, her face beaming with joy. Oh god, this woman's smile was almost a perfect match that it was eerie. Was he about to go through with the idea of tricking someone into being his wife? Would that even work?

This article is full of MAJOR Avengers: Infinity War spoilers. If you haven't seen the movie yet, read our spoiler free review here.
Well, it's finally here. The culmination of the Marvel Cinematic Universe has arrived with Avengers: Infinity War, and as we all suspected, it's insane, and absolutely packed with everything fans want to see.
But don't be fooled by the fact that this is a story about Thanos wielding an all-powerful Infinity Gauntlet to make life miserable for all your favorite Marvel superheroes. Avengers: Infinity War is full of crazy surprises, and all the comics knowledge in the world won't prepare you for what's coming. We're trying to track down all of the Marvel easter eggs in the movie...but we need your help. So if you spot something that we missed, shout it out down in the comments, or hit me up on Twitter, and we'll keep updating this until it's the most complete Marvel easter egg guide to Avengers: Infinity War around!
Read the latest Den of Geek Special Edition Magazine Here!
Now, let's get to work...
The Infinity Gauntlet
- The movie takes plenty of liberties with the original The Infinity Gauntlet comic story. In fact, you can't even really call this movie an adaptation of that story...and it's certainly not an adaptation of The Infinity War comic, either. But there are still some early similarities. But the fact that Thanos spends most of his time gathering the stones during the movie makes it more of a loose adaptation of The Thanos Quest by Jim Starlin and Ron Lim than anything else. But again, it's a pretty loose adaptation.
- The Hulk falling to Earth from space and landing in Doctor Strange's Sanctum is reminiscent of something that happened early on in The Infinity Gauntlet comics, except there, it was the Silver Surfer who warned Strange of Thanos' coming, not Bruce Banner, right down to the "Thanos is coming."
- Loki is dead. Most fans (including me) expected Loki to serve the kind of role that Mephisto did in The Infinity Gauntlet comics. There, Mephisto was kind of an obsequious "guide" for Thanos, and that's the word that Loki offers...before he tries (and fails) to betray Thanos. Well, if you've gotta go, this is the way to do it.
But seriously, couldn't you just imagine Loki behaving like this for his own ends? Even the body language is the same!
Also, Loki's attempted betrayal/stabbing of Thanos reminds me of Prince Thun trying to take out Ming the Merciless in Mike Hodges' masterful Flash Gordon movie.
- Wong tells the origin of the Infinity Stones, which is kind of like the creation myth of the entire Marvel Universe when you think about it. Something very similar was done in the pages of The Thanos Quest, and they basically hint that these are fragments of God!
(thanks to Dylan Bates for helping me out with that one!)
- The weird reality-warping "deaths" that Thanos inflicts on Drax and Mantis is really reminiscent of the ways that Thanos tortured Eros, Nebula, and others in The Infinty Gauntlet comic.
Thanos
- In the comics, and certainly by The Infinity Gauntlet era, Thanos was known as the Mad Titan, and he was a pretty irrational dork most of the time. Thanos was in love with the cosmic physical manifestation of death, and this whole thing was a way for him to impress him. He's a really needy, giant purple MRA, basically.
But here, Thanos is kind of rational, if still a dick. Here is obsession is with bringing balance to the universe to preserve resources, and his motives are almost like, I dunno, an extremely shitty environmentalist or something. If anything, his motivations here more resemble the character as he was portrayed in The Thanos Imperative comic than The Infinity Gauntlet.
Thanos' armor and helmet bears the strongest resemblance to recent designs in the comics, as well as the design for Thane, his son's outfit in Infinity.
- Gamora has "always hated" Thanos' weird throne/chair, which is pretty hilarious considering it was such an iconic part of the character's whole "thing" for so many years.
- Have we seen Thanos' vaguely Ancient Egyptian looking guards before? They're the ones guarding Nebula while she's being tortured. What a cool design they have. I feel like maybe they were hanging around with Ronan in the first Guardians movie, but my brain is so fried from this movie I can't trust myself.
- Thanos creepy army of Alien-looking drones are called Outriders, and they're also from the Infinity crossover.
- Thanos' crack about how he could "finally rest" once he achieves his goal is a reference to the "Farmer Thanos" he became in the comics, and that we glimpse at the very end of this movie.
- Thanos literally snaps his fingers to bring about the end of half of all life in the universe, which is exactly what he did in the first chapter of The Infinity Gauntlet comic. And that's what he did BEFORE the fighting started there!
- In the closing credits, there's a line that reads “the producers would like to recognize Jim Starlin for his significant contribution to the film.” Saying Starlin made a "significant contribution" to this movie is an understatement. The vast majority of Thanos stories, and certainly the Thanos stories that matter, were written and often drawn by Jim Starlin. That's HIS character, just as surely as most of the others on screen are Stan Lee and Jack Kirby's.
The Black Order
We're introduced to Thanos' Black Order early on, and they first appeared in Jonathan Hickman's massive Thanos vs Avengers story, Infinity. In the comics, they were also known as the Cull Obsidian, and are basically Thanos' generals, but here it's implied that they are Thanos' children. We went into MUCH more detail about them right here.
Check out the whole skeevy squad in the movie...
From left to right, that's Proxima Midnight, Ebony Maw, Corvus Glaive, and Cull Obsidian. Your ears do not deceive you, that is Carrie Coon as Proxima Midnight.
“Even in death you have become children of Thanos” - this line from Ebony Maw (who never shuts the hell up) hints at Thanos' obsession with death as a concept, even if the movie gives him a more practical outlook than his comic book counterpart, and a less physical manifestation of Death herself. We'll get into more of that in a bit. I also couldn't help but feel that Ebony Maw kind of acts like a "herald of Galactus" when it comes to announcing the coming of Thanos.
But speaking of death...
Heimdall is dead, and it's always going to be a shame that this franchise never used Idris Elba to the fullest.
Guardians of the Galaxy
- The song playing during the Guardians' intro here is "Rubberband Man" by The Spinners, and it's kinda great. And as it turns out, James Gunn did indeed choose the tune. "The first song is James," co-writer Stephen McFeely told us. In fact, go read the whole interview with the writers because it's a riot.
- The Guardians are flying a new ship. This ain't the Milano...it's the Benatar. And for real, nobody can tell me that "Invincible" isn't the best Pat Benatar song.
- Teen Groot is playing a handheld version of the 1981 arcade game, Defender, which is an all-time coin-op classic. This is the closest we're going to get to the Netflix Defenders on the big screen, though. We wrote lots more about Groot's favorite game right here.
- Thanos calls on the Collector to pick up the reality stone from him. In The Thanos Quest comic, he does indeed kick the Collector's ass for a stone, but there it was for the soul stone, not reality.
- This is a great catch (thanks to Andrew Gallo!), Thanos' "where is the stone" line to the Collector echoes Benicio del Toro's line in Snatch!
By the way...what is the tree in the Collector's place, there? It looks familiar, but I can't quite place it, and I feel like I'm going to look like an idiot as soon as one of you points it out to me.
- The Collector for whatever reason owns Tobias Funke of Arrested Development fame (which is even confirmed in the end credits). Tobias is covered in blue paint, much like the episode of the show where he tried to join Blue Man Group. I don't even want to get into the can of worms with the continuity considering Tobias once put together a Fantastic Four musical.
- As the Guardians are heading into the Collector's lair, there's some circuitry on the wall that kind of reminds me of the Jack Kirby-esque designs we saw so much of in Thor: Ragnarok.
- The unnecessary reference to Footloose is a callback to the first Guardians of the Galaxy movie, but also feels a little out of place with Spidey. It makes sense that Spidey would be down with things like Star Wars and Alien, but Footloose? C'mon. Nobody his age cares about that flick.
- Drax is eating a bag of Zargnuts...which makes me think of Zagnut, the candy bar that Beetlejuice used to lure an insect to its death in Tim Burton's classic movie which had seriously better never have a sequel or reboot ever. Anyway, this is perhaps an unnecessary pop culture connection to make and I now apologize to Peter Parker about my Footloose crack above.
Nebula
- Worth pointing out that Nebula is Thanos' daughter in the MCU, but she's his granddaugher in the comics. His shitty treatment of her remains the same. Seriously, dude...lighten up.
We see Nebula half-disassembled and held in stasis, in a state of constant agony. In the comics, Thanos used the power of the Gauntlet to burn her to a crisp and keep her in a state between living and dying. Zombie Nebula with flesh dripping off her skeleton might have been a bit of a stretch for PG-13 MCU stuff, but this is the closest we're likely to get to that. It's definitely inspired by the comics.
Gamora
- During the flashbacks detailing how he adopted Gamora, I'm pretty sure you can spot those giant Chitauri worm ship things from the first Avengers movie.
- In the comics Gamora has always been a big fan of blades and edged weapons. I feel like we get the "origin" of that with the knife here.
- Maybe Gamora knows ANOTHER secret about Thanos? For example, in the comics, Thanos always plants the seeds of his own defeat, because subconsciously he feels that he isn't worthy of power. Is this something Gamora knows? Well, knew...because she's dead. Right? Nah.
- While Gamora's death is a powerful scene here, this is the one proper on-screen death that I don't expect to stick. James Gunn has plans to complete the team's story in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, and I can't imagine Marvel would rob him of one of his most important and interesting characters.
Don't be surprised if it turns out Gamora is just imprisoned in the soul stone. And seriously, how amazing is Zoe Saldana in this movie?
Thor
- This movie has the best Thor moments of any of his big screen appearances. And yes, I'm including the wonderful Thor: Ragnarok. The fact that they took us to Nidavelir, the home of the Norse Dwarves, and instead made it the heart of a star where Mjolnir was forged, well, that's a pretty wonderful way to do things.
- Making Peter Dinklage into the dwarf, Eitri, was even better. The Marvel Comics version of Eitri isn't nearly as cool as Peter Dinklage, but he made his first appearance in Thor Annual #11 in 1983.
- Is this the first time we learn Thor's actual age is 1500 years old?
- The whole sequence of Thor "starting up a star" is the kind of crazy "only in comics" thing that I love so much, and it feels like something that would come right out of the mind of Jack Kirby or Jason Aaron.
And c'mon, tell me this next shot doesn't look like a Jack Kirby panel come to life!
Right? Anyway...
- Oh my god, Thor is wielding Stormbreaker now! Stormbreaker wasn't ever really Thor's weapon in the mainstream comics, but rather that of Beta Ray Bill, the noble, horse-faced replacement Thor, who we kinda sorta got a glimpse of in Thor: Ragnarok. He did wield a hammer/ax just like it in the Ultimate continuity, though.
Spider-Man
- We get our first ever MCU use of Peter's Spider-sense in this movie when the ships arrive!
- Peter swaps out his regular costume for Tony's "17A" model, which we glimpsed at the end of Spider-Man: Homecoming. This is the cinematic equivalent of the dreadful "Iron Spider" armor Peter wore in the Civil War comics, right down to the extra appendages it gives him. This design is a little better than the comic book one...but only a little. It's kinda hideous, really.
Go back to the blue and red, kid.
- Spidey's line, “I’m being beamed up,” is a slight nod to Star Trek.
- But more importantly, and please tell me whether or not I'm crazy here, does the Tony/Peter relationship and banter in this movie feel like Rick and Morty to anyone else? I didn't get that vibe in Captain America: Civil War or Spider-Man: Homecoming, but it definitely felt that way here.
Except when Peter dies. That was heartbreaking.
Nice to see Peter got the old "web to the face" in that he did on Thanos in The Infinity Gauntlet comic, too!
The Stan Lee Cameo
- You all spotted Stan Lee driving the bus, right? Good. Now, someone get Stan away from the skeevy vultures currently handling his affairs, please.
The Avengers 4 Roster
So maybe we shouldn't be surprised that the folks who survived are the core Avengers from the first movie. Our Avengers 4 roster will consist of Captain America, Iron Man, Thor, Bruce Banner, Black Widow, Hawkeye (even though he's not here, we can confirm he isn't dead...more details here), plus War Machine, Rocket Raccoon, and Captain Marvel. The jury is out on whether Ant-Man makes an appearance, I think.
I wrote more about what's next for the MCU in the leadup to Avengers 4 right here.
The Post Credits Scene
The post credits scenes kind of drive home the fact that the ending of Avengers: Infinity War is basically the beginning of the MCU version of The Infinity Gauntlet comic. In the second chapter of Infinity Gauntlet we saw how the world was affected when half of all humans just disappear, and yes, that includes car accidents, aviation mishaps, etc.
That final symbol you see belongs to Captain Marvel, but since this article is long enough already, I wrote in much, much more detail about the post-credits scene and everything it means right here.
Miscellaneous Cool Stuff
- Did I hear this correctly, and is the Asgardian spaceship known as the Ice Guardian? I know they also say "Asgardian families" when sending the distress call, but I feel like this was how they identified the ship.
- Overall, the opening to this was more akin to a Star Wars movie than anything Marvel usually does, just dropping us right into the jaws of a defeat with a seemingly unstoppable villain. Shades of A New Hope right off the bat...although some of the genuinely gruesome carnage with the dead bodies lying all over the place made me think of the end of Rogue One.
- At the Central Park reservoir, before Tony is told that "the fate of the universe is at stake" (which is some proper comic book dialogue right there), he makes a reference to Pepper having an eccentric uncle named Morgan. I'm drawing a blank on what this might be a reference to, though.
- You can basically just consider Cap's team the Secret Avengers in this. The lineup is similar enough!
Cap taking on Thanos in hand-to-hand combat is amazing. Thanos is, after all, a guy who could go at it with Thor or Hulk and come out OK. But this in particular reminds us of a specific scene from the original Infinity Gauntletcomics...
Cap is the best, you guys.
- Tony calls Ebony Maw "Squidward" which is pretty great. I...don't have to tell you who Squidward is, right?
- During the fights on the streets of NYC you can spot a New York Post newspaper dispenser. Still no sign of The Daily Bugle in the MCU. Seriously, what the hell? Although it's fun to point out that the layout and logo of the Bugle in the Sam Raimi Spider-Man movies was based heavily on the Post. I'm just surprised they used the Post here and not the Marvel Netflix-centric New York Bulletin. Apparently the producers considered having The Defenders make an appearance, but it just couldn't work out. It's probably for the best.
-Xandar's destruction was a key plot point in Annihilation, the opening chapter of the greatest era of Marvel space stories ever. Maybe that's the jumping off point of the Nova movie rumored to be in development?
- When Glave tries to take the Eye of Agamotto from Strange, his hand gets burned/branded, like Toht in Raiders of the Lost Ark.
- Captain America's phone number appears to be 678-136-7092. I haven't called it yet. I'm not going to AND NEITHER SHOULD YOU because if I read that wrong on the screen some poor senior citizen is going to get bombarded with phone calls and it's going to be my fault.
- I'm pretty sure that Vision and Scarlet Witch never lived in Scotland in the comics, but I'm willing to be corrected. Still, they're right on the verge of committing for life here, and assuming poor Vision manages to make a return at the end of Avengers 4, I'd love to see them get married, like they did in the comics.
This is a pretty radical departure for Black Widow. It's actually referencing the second comics Black Widow, Yelena Belova, who was created in Paul Jenkins and Jae Lee's late '90s Inhumans series and ended up being an evil foil for Natasha.
- Who the hell has a bass guitar in Avengers HQ? Please tell me that's Thor's.
- The Alien tribute with Ebony Maw is an absolute highlight.
- If Avengers movies had been made in the 1980s, wouldn't David Bowie have been the most perfect Vision ever? And I'm getting such Bowie vibes from Paul Bettany's Vision performance that now I want him to star in a Ziggy Stardust movie. Hollywood, call me. I'm waiting by the phone. Alone. Writing about the intersection of Marvel superheroes and David Bowie. For the love of gods, someone please call me...
(ahem...ANYWAY)
When Vision "dies" he's drained of color. While he isn't completely white like he was in the West Coast Avengers comic, there's definitely a resemblance.
That look pretty much defined the character in the early to mid '90s, too...including in the still awesome Captain America and the Avengers arcade game.
- When we're on Titan, and see the flashbacks to how it was before, are we basically seeing the seeds of Eternals society, there? They do have a movie in development, now.
- Vormir (the location of the Soul Stone) is a "real" place in the comics, existing way the hell out in the Kree galaxy. It was first mentioned in Avengers #123 in 1974.
- C'mon, admit it, NOBODY saw that Red Skull surprise coming, right? Sadly, that isn't Hugo Weaving, it's The Walking Dead's Ross Marquand. Bummer. On the bright side, maybe if we ever get a Captain America 4 this means the Skull can return!
OK Avengers, it's time to assemble! Let us know what we missed down in the comments or on Twitter, and if it checks out, we'll update this!

@lena-in-a-red-dress Its entirely your fault I spent DAYS thinking/dreaming about these concepts. I actually had a friend of mine consider a Supergirl/Sanctuary crossover back in Sg Season 1. Because we are both ridiculous nerds and I got her hooked on Sanctuary.
But anyway, Sanctuary first!!!
I love the idea, it would be hard to shift some characters over from Supergirl into the Sanctuary setting because like you said its NEVER aliens and Helen actually scoffs at the idea of them (which always made me laugh because SG1) but you could make most of them Abnormals of one kind or another and it would still work.
I think Lena and Helen would have the kind of Mentor/Protégé type relationship that Will/Helen have. It would, I think be more maternal due to Lena's background with her family and if you set it after Ashley's death. But I think they would have an interesting relationship.
Lena, Ive always felt was a little like Helen, a woman ahead of her time who thinks faster and four moves ahead of everyone else, sensitive but keeps her emotions under lock and key only showing you what she wants/needs to show you.
Helen is some one who doesnt always respond or react the way ordinary people do and she might see some of herself in Lena. I can definitely see a lot of mentoring going on, lots of guidance and advice. They'd clash a lot i think on ethics of things but they'd be an interesting pair to watch solve problems, I feel like Helen wouldnt have to stop and explain as much as she does with Will lol.
Stargate SG1!!!
I am amazed and ashamed that I never thought to bring Supergirl into that setting! BAD fangirl!!
I think it would work best, as you said with Sam Carter as General and in Charge because honestly if your going to have anyone in charge of that place it SHOULD BE THE WOMAN WHO SAVED IT EVERY OTHER WEEK!!!!
I love the concept of Alex leading the new SG1 team. Badass genius soldier leading a team of other badass ladies. You could do a lot with the remaining characters, Lena the engineering/physics genius, Kara the languages/alien culture genius, maybe throw in Sam (Arias) to round out the badass ladies quota and have her suffering along side Alex as they listen to the geek-squad bicker amongst themselves.
Or you can make Kara the Alien they bring onto the team, or any number of ways to mix and match.
You could easily fit pretty much most of the Supergirl characters into the SG1 universe however you like. Winn as the Gate Tech, Brainy as one of the Lab Guys who helps out with the latest problems that crop up.
Not entirely sure how James might fit... but im sure it would work.
But I just get this image in my head of General Carter having to give a Stern Talking To to SG1 and them sulking off and her going back into her office and Retired Jack O'Neill sitting in her office fiddling with some doodad from her desk and grinning and being like,
"So thats the new SG1 huh?"
"Yes Jack," snatches away doodad and gives him a less explosive fidget spinner
"Niiice"
Cue that long suffering look that Amanda does so well lol.
I think in any setting really the dynamics would be incredible and interesting and as much as Id like to see Helen and Lena make out, I just cant quite make it work in my head.
On one hand, I really want Lena to meet Helen Magnus, because they’d either be really gay or else Lena would get an awesome positive female role model (and could conceivably have already met due to Helen’s prevalence in certain prominent circles), but the Sanctuary and Supergirl ‘verses are antithetical to each other, because on Sanctuary it’s NEVER aliens.
So it’s more conceivable for Lena to meet Sam Carter, which would be an exceptional nerd-out opportunity and an explosion of female genius, but at the same time would be a completely different (and decidedly less gay) character dynamic, and one that’d be far less intriguing.
Unless Lena got to go through the 'gate.
Ooh! Supergirl Stargate AU where Alex leads a superfriends gate team, and Carter is the new Hammond. Now THAT has potential.
(@samarallewis86 pls read my tags and weigh in on which helen&lena dynamic would be better)

Marvel
The Legends canon is creeping back into the Star Wars universe in the form of a new one-shot comic from Marvel which resurrects the publisher's classic Star Wars series. Star Wars #108, which is written by Matthew Rosenberg (X-Men) and drawn by a lineup of artists, with a cover from the legendary Walt Simonson, reintroduces characters who first appeared in the late '70s and early '80s. Yes, that means Jaxxon, the green rabbit dude who hung out with Han Solo in a series of Suicide Squad-like adventures, as well as Valance the Hunter, Amaiza Foxtrain, and Domina Tagge.
"It's hard to explain now what the original series meant to me as a kid. We didn't have all these amazing video games, and novels, and prequels, and sequels, and spinoffs," Rosenberg told ComicBook about bringing this series back to life. "There were a few novels, the Ewok movies, and these comics. And these comics gave me the impossible, the chance to spend more time with my favorite characters. I couldn't believe I could walk into a store and give them a few bucks and walk out with even more adventures of Leia, Luke, Chewie, Han, Artoo, and Threepio. It felt magical to me then, and honestly, those comics still feel that way to me today."
Here's the solicitation:
STAR WARS #108
Writer: Matthew Rosenberg
Artists: Giuseppe Camuncoli, Luke Ross, Kerry Gammill, Andrea Broccardo, and more
Cover: Walter Simonson
"A long time ago on a spinner rack far, far away…Star Wars comics were a LOT different than they are now! With wild and intricately plotted storylines, Marvel’s historic original run introduced an array of unique heroes and villains to play alongside George Lucas' incredibly popular science-fantasy characters. In celebration of Marvel's 80th Anniversary, this Legends-era sequel to legendary comic book writer Archie Goodwin’s 'Crimson Forever' reunites Han Solo, Luke Skywalker, Princess Leia, Chewbacca, C-3PO, and R2-D2 with Jaxxon, Amaiza Foxtrain, Domina Tagge, and Valance the Hunter in a galaxy-threatening, nostalgic roller coaster! Strap yourselves in!"
Star Wars #109 is out on May 29.
Check out the awesome new Simonson cover:

Doom Patrol Season 2: Dorothy Spinner is Forever Young
https://ift.tt/3fgZZ6d
The following contains spoilers for Doom Patrol season 2.
Coming into the sophomore season of a critically lauded show like Doom Patrol is no easy feat, yet newcomer Abigail Shapiro is currently winning rave reviews for her portrayal of Dorothy Spinner. The daughter of the crew’s leader, Niles Caulder a.k.a. The Chief, Dorothy is arguably the most powerful member of the strange superhero team as well as being an immortal stuck in the body of an 11-year-old girl. It’s an infinitely challenging role, which was exactly what drew the young actor to it. “She has this incredibly complex mind and has suffered through all of this trauma yet is still so innocent and childlike,” Shapiro says.
Though you might not have heard of Shapiro yet, she’s a Broadway actor with an impressive catalog of on-stage performances. The Florida-born thespian got her first starring role playing Cindy Lou Who at Madison Square Garden as part of How the Grinch Stole Christmas! The Musical. Doom Patrol is her first TV role and it’s a massive one, as she is the beating heart at the center of the sophomore season of the critically acclaimed show. But after braving the masses of MSG, Shapiro seems calm about leading a prestige superhero series.
Like basically everyone else who isn’t a diehard DC fan, Shapiro wasn’t familiar with the Doom Patrol before she self-taped her audition. Once she got the unusual role–after just one callback–Shapiro began to dig into the source material and found a lot to love. “I first read the Grant Morrison comics and I was amazed by them. I was like, ‘It’s so weird, but it’s so good!’ And the artwork [predominantly by Richard Case] in the Morrison comics is amazing. And I don’t normally read comics, so it gave me a whole new appreciation for them. Now I’m going to try to start getting into that world a little more because I really enjoyed reading the comics.”
Morrison’s run was a key research tool for Shapiro as it was the first instance that Dorothy went from a background sight gag to a full member of the titular team. When Morrison and Case took the reins of the super squad, they introduced the “monkey-faced girl” as a key member of the team. Her powers are like the rest of the strange supers: incredibly odd. Those surreal powers were restored early in the rebooted series, as readers were introduced to the imaginary friends the young girl was able to manifest, and later on to the terrifying Candlemaker who was living in her head. Those two parts of Dorothy’s backstory are also vital to the newest series of Doom Patrol.
Though Shapiro hadn’t been aware of the comic book the day before her audition, in a coincidental turn of events a friend had mentioned the DC Universe series to her. Once Shapiro watched it, like pretty much anyone else who has taken the time to try the series, she was hooked.
“I fell in love with the show because it has all of those really, really weird, quirky moments, but it also isn’t afraid to explore the darker sides of our humanity. So it has such a wide range and really delves deep into all of these issues about our humanity, which I really liked about it.”
Balancing the innate absurdity of the team whilst crafting striking emotional arcs for each character has been at the core of Doom Patrol’s success. And as was revealed in the finale of season one, Dorothy was the inciting incident for it all. If you haven’t caught up, look away now, but essentially the team was created by Niles Caulder’s maniacal experiments so that he could become immortal and protect/imprison his incredibly powerful and undying daughter. Shapiro gave Den of Geek her insights on that core relationship and what it means for Dorothy.

Doom Patrol Season 2 and the Start of Something Big
By Aaron Sagers
“She definitely has a complicated relationship with Niles. She loves him very much because he’s the only person who’s really taking care of her throughout all these decades. But their relationship is complicated because he’s locked her away for so long and she’s starting to realize that he’s done all of these terrible things. She really doesn’t want to see him that way. So there’s a little tension in that area. But throughout the season, you’re going to really see her begin to fear growing up, because she finds out as she grows up, she becomes stronger. And so she really is going to struggle to keep her powers at bay.”
Playing someone who’s both nearly a century old but also eternally 11 is no easy feat, but Shapiro created her own theory on Dorothy to help craft the process of bringing her to life. “She was basically held hostage for almost 90 years. When a person goes through that they’re kind of stuck emotionally at the time they were imprisoned, so she’s stuck emotionally and artificially too at 11 years old. When you’re 11 you don’t really see yourself as being a kid. So I tried to put myself in the shoes of an 11-year-old who’s been trapped for a very long time and tried not to look at myself like, ‘Oh, I’m playing a little kid’ but more like, ‘I’m Dorothy.'”
That thread is at the heart of not only Dorothy’s story but also the whole season as the ageless little girl begins to realize just what she’s been missing. As Shapiro shared, it’s really after the wild party in “Sex Patrol” that the young heroine begins to change. “At the end of episode four you see her start to realize the effects of being away from the world for so long and how much she’s missed. She lived underneath Danny (The Street) and she heard all the parties constantly, but never ever got to go for nine years and that’s so heartbreaking. So she’s realizing how kind of rough that actually was, so it’s just her realizing how much she’s missed out on.”
It’s a moment that changes everything and sparks a dangerous journey for Dorothy. “That really sticks with her. And she can’t stop thinking about the fact that she’s missed out on the world so much and she hasn’t had the opportunity to grow up, and that runs through the whole series.”
And as the fifth episode of the second season, “Finger Patrol” showcases, Dorothy isn’t on this road alone. She has the voices in her head, one of whom is the notorious Doom Patrol villain known as Candlemaker. In case the name doesn’t immediately strike fear in your heart, Shapiro gives a terrifying rundown. “The Candlemaker is one of Dorothy’s imaginary friends, but he’s one of the evil ones. Not all of her imaginary friends are good. She doesn’t have much control over him, and when she makes a wish it has dire consequences.”
With the battle for Dorothy being fought by not only Niles but also Candlemaker living inside her head, there’s a question of agency when it comes to Dorothy’s future, but Shapiro has a hopeful tease. “She’s kind of been giving in to the patriarchy in a way, but you’re going to see that throughout the season she rebels against both (Niles and The Candlemaker) and begins to find her own way.”
You can watch Doom Patrol season 1 on DC Universe now and catch new episodes every Thursday on HBO Max and DC Universe.
