Velma honestly reminds me more of a Drawn Together type show. This is why I stopped watching TV in the 2000s/10s.

said as if grease wrasslin wasn't one of the big horny fantasies peddled by shady cable tv companies for the past few decades
hello new D&D movie fans who are writing fic! we’re glad you’re here. as a semi experienced D&D player I feel the need to make a PSA. to wit: while they may appear to be viable options, the Grease spell, and by extension the Oil of Slipperiness, generate enough grease to cover ten square feet or an entire humanoid. this is too much grease! unmanageable and unsexy quantities of grease. “can’t get anything done because we’re sliding around too much” quantities of grease. please opt for mundane lubricants. thank you for your time
#*stares into the middle distance*#i don't know why i was watching spiketv as a teen but whatever it was i wanted to see was after the man show#so i always ended up catching the end of that mind rotting experience#i don't judge nobody's kinks or squicks#but i have seen things... i didn't need to see...

I was 31 when the movie came out, but I regrettably didn't see it until it was on DVD. I instantly loved the film have seen it at least 7 or 8 times by now. It encapsulates so much about my tastes in entertainment, at least my tastes primarily back then. Still, while I may be able to understand why some elements of the film may not play well with contemporary audiences, the movie still works for me as a middle-aged adult.
The TLDR of it all was I spent my 20s as a quiet and introverted geeky kid, who lived with his mom and never went out on weekends. I spent my free time watching movies, listening to music, and playing video games. The extent of my social interaction was updating my Top 8 on MySpace or posting comments on AICN. Part of it was due to certain generational family trauma and a lot of it was due to me not feeling comfortable with conflict.
The long and short of it that I looked up to Michael Cera's titular Scott Pilgrim, but I really identified more with Cera's portrayal of George Michael on "Arrested Development." For a bit more color, an old friend once also compared me to Michael Bluth, once he heard a bit more about my aforementioned family drama.
After my own period of arrested development, I squandered my privileges and youth, by giving up on feeling seen or heard by those closest to me, and I lost myself in my passion for music, films, television shows, etc. I experienced what I assumed was normal behavior for people my age through media. Call it ADHD, self-misdiagnosed Autism, or just plain insecurity, I kept a lot of who I was to myself because it just didn't fit the mold of the '00s American male.
A lot of men in the aughts were more SpikeTV and I was more Sci Fi Channel. There was some overlap and I suppose certain preferences were informed by the ubiquitous appeal of attractive actors and spectacle. I'm not completely immune to what sells.
Get it?
I did manage to start putting myself out there, but it was still a bit before the start of mainstream appeal of comic book movies and yet 'Scott Pilgrim vs the World' manages to be one of the best comic book inspired films. I admittedly still have never read the books, so I can't speak for how good of an adaptation the movie is, but from a production standpoint, it's incredible.
The music, the visuals, the performances. All of it is just the right amount of what I love about the medium. It what I wrapped myself in through the early 2000's after and solid diet of the pop culture of the '80s and '90s. It's just what consumed me for most of my young adulthood until I stumbled into society at large.
I eventually started dating and got married at the cusp of my 30s. Ultimately, while my ex and I had a lot in common, it didn't work out. I was just shy of a decade away from the end of my first marriage when I first saw the movie and I immediately loved it, as I may have said repeatedly in real life to anyone who would listen. Unfortunately, some people kind of think it is weird that I'd have taken such a keen liking to this movie, when I first did at 31 years of age.
I don't really know how to explain and it pains me that once again, someone close to me doesn't quite get why I enjoyed certain things, at least it is comforting to know they understand where coming from. They get that I didn't have quite the same experiences growing up and that I use movies to relate to certain things I struggle with in the real world.
I regret missing it on the big screen and I don't care how old I am the next time it is screened for any upcoming anniversaries, this movie still hits on so many levels and it remains a favorite of mine. It defines a lot of aspects of who I used to be as well. The misguided sense of entitlement that comes with youth. I often would dream of my own Manic Pixie Suicide Dream Girl. I had certain expectations or assumptions that were based on hyperbolic depictions of visual and aural stimulation.

Okay,i made AU of John Krisfalusi and Spümcø.
John K/Spümcø AU
When John created his studio, which was named Spümcø. In 1990 he released his pilot for Ren and Stimpy, which was called "Big House Blues". In the end, everyone liked the cartoon. And Krisfalusi began his full production with his team on a cartoon called "The Ren & Stimpy Show" . Of course, Nickelodeon, which did such a thing as "NickToons",he noticed this and decided that he should have a contract with Krisfalusi. And now the era of “The Ren & Stimpy Show” begins to develop in the Spümcø studio. After the first season, which was not touched at all by censorship. The team began creating the second season of this show, and it began. Some episodes were closed from Nickelodeon and from television, and some moments in the episodes were completely cut out, and the full episodes can be seen on DVD.
And there was one thing. In August 22 1992 John K released an episode, which called "Man's Best Friend",aired on Nickelodeon. Nickelodeon already wanted to fire John for cruelty and such things. But John said that he did it because the audience wanted it and in the end Nickelodeon spared him, giving him one last chance. And in the end, John and his team were not touched by the dismissal.
In 1992 John Krisfalusi once secretly created an episode of Ren and Stimpy called "My Poor Stimpy". And half the team and even Billy West himself took part in this. After finishing this episode,John and his half of the team were very excited with joy, especially John himself. This episode was watched by literally all viewers, children, teenagers and even adults. After the episode, Nickelodeon was very shocked, because in this episode there was cruelty, the theme of abuse and a severe beating. Therefore, Nickelodeon could not stand it and fired John Krisfalusi and literally the entire Spümcø team was fired from Nickelodeon,And the release of new episodes was entrusted to Bob Camp, and Ren and Stimpy themselves were voiced by Billy West. This is how the Games Animations era began. Well, of course, after this, John was not upset. And myself with half the team that didn’t go to Games Animations - remained. And they themselves watched episodes from Games Animations, and according to John himself said the fact is that seasons 3, 4 and 5 are a stupid waste of money.
And finally, this era of the 90s has passed, and the era of the 2000s has begun.
In 2002 Viacom I wanted an adult version of Ren and Stimpy to be broadcast on SpikeTV. And Krisfalusi, of course, agreed to this, and he started his own business. He was bringing his team back to make an adult version of Ren and Stimpy, which is called "Ren and Stimpy Adult Party Cartoon". John had everything under control. We wrote scripts, sketches, and so on. So far everything was fine, until Billy West got involved with John K. He didn’t want to participate in this because his career in this will hurt. John tried to persuade him but in response. Billy West broke him badly. He mentioned that because of the episode "My Poor Stimpy" the team was fired. Because of this, Nickelodeon had to check episodes and seasons 3,4 and 5. So that they can be shown normally on Nickelodeon. And Billy West himself almost lost his career because of this. And so, Billy West screamed at John:
“THIS IS ALL YOUR FAULT!!! IF YOU WASN'T DOING THIS. THEN THERE WOULD BE NO TROUBLES!!!"
And Billy West finally said to him last words:
“And you know what... I don’t want anything to do with you anymore... Forget about the fact that we were friends... Your junk will be closed in 4 weeks, and everyone will hate you,Including me. So...You are now a monster for me, who ruined everything." And Billy West left.
John was shocked and devastated by his "buddy's" words. His team tried to reassure him that everything would be fine. But John barely calmed down, and everything was fine. Only he had to find a replacement actor Stimpy. And he found it, it was Eric Bauza.
And finally, in 2003, the cartoon Ren and Stimpy Adult Party Cartoon premiered on SpikeTV. Shown late at night. And after three episodes such as "Onward and Upward","Ren Seeks Help" and "Fire Dogs 2", the ratings were 3.6/10.
Since the audience reacted differently, either someone liked it or they didn’t. And because of this, SpikeTV allowed three more episodes to be released, such as "Naked Beach Frenzy", "Altruistis" and "Stimpy's Pregnant". And the rating for this was 5.8/10, which surprised John and his team. And because of this, they were very happy that people liked it.
And they released 3 more episodes such as "Life Sucks","The Big Switch","The Wilderness Adventure" and a film in which episodes of "Life Sucks", "Ren Seeks Help" and "The Big Switch".
And the rating was 6.2/10, so John was very pleased, and in honor of this he releases the second season of the adult version of Ren and Stimpy. And there were a little more episodes than in the first season.
And John’s life was good, he liked the adult version of Ren and Stimpy himself, saying that it was “An unexpected favorite cartoon for viewers". Currently the rating is 7.5/10,The show was truly loved by fans and viewers.
And now, John Krisfalusi and his team are living well. And they forgot about the bad things that had ever happened to them…

Actually it would take 3 people who are 300 pounds sitting on you to seriously endanger you before taking into account their also actively trying to hurt you, which I know to be true without further research because I saw it on SpikeTV once. But also I would want Kris to sit on me in the most threatening way possible anyway because I fear neither death nor God
Kris sits on ME nicely and we kiss and she hugs me because she LOVES me how about THAT huh you all jealous???

I went into this one with an open mind and low expectations and it turned out to be a lot better than I could've imagined. It has an early 2000’s and 2010's FX, SpikeTV, and Comedy Central kind of charm to it. So, if you’re familiar and enjoyed the shows that aired on those channels back then, I think you'll enjoy this too!

Rewatching a video essay about the Hawkeye series, i was remembering how my cousin was saying all her friends thought Thor Love And Thunder was a bad movie.
My reaction was, her firends need to watch more movies. They don't know what an actual bad movie is. I have seen actual bad movies. I used to watch SpikeTV, "The station for men!", B grade action movies all day. I once watched a movie where a meat head detective, hunted a space alien, dressed in biker leather and a Halloween mask, who injected humans with super drugs, so it could harvest the rush of brain endorphins, to sell as recreational space alien drugs. My gawd, that was a dumb movie, especially in the female representation. I've seen Steven Segal movies better than that.
So when people say Thor Love & Thunder was a "bad movie", i think they think only serious movies can be good. Only serious toned drama where people learn the "harsh realities of life's disappointments" and argue all the time, are probably the only good movies to them. Thor Love & Thunder is a goofy movie, a good goofy movie, and a good movie. And when it's not silly fun, it's sincere and endearing. I wanted to say, I know we're all from the group of emo and grunge, or whatever. But can we drop the idea that things are only good if they're cynacle?

This one is my favorite slur.
Probably came across it while watching something on SpikeTV.
But when people say things like "humans are wired to be racist," this is the phenomenon they're actually referring to. It's "The Girls Who Get It, Get It.". Slurs are words for the girls who don't. And it can crop up around anything. Theodor Geisel covered it in his Sneetch Theorem.
Slurs are tools used to remind a person that they are fundamentally, essentially, incongruent with their surroundings.
Which is why they're context-dependent and why there aren't any for straight white guys.
