Now that I'm back from the gem and mineral show, here are all the Cool Rocks I came home with!

A cute little coral fossil! He looks like a cauliflower.

A Keokuk geode! These geode beds aren't far from where I live, and it's always fun to have local specimens.

Phosphosiderite! This purple stone comes from Chile. It's so soft that it has to be stabilized with resin before it's cut. This one is a cross section of a botryoidial formation!

Speaking of botryoidial, this Hematite! Botryoidial means it has a bubbly shape kind of like a bunch of grapes. The faces of the bubbles on this pieces are super shiny and metallic.

Dendritic chalcedony, from Turkey! It's a white chalcedony full of dendrites - branching formations of manganese that look kind of like trees!

A cabochon for my cab collection! This one is made from a material sometimes called "ajooba jasper." The pattern is actually a cross section of a bunch of colorfully jasperized bivalve fossils!

Speaking of jasper, this one is Blue Mountain jasper, from Oregon! The circles in this stone are what’s known as an “egg pattern,” and jaspers which have them (Blue Mountain, Imperial jasper, and a few others) are collectively known as “fine jaspers,” the most valuable jaspers in the world.

Hyalite opal! This stuff forms water-clear spheres that look like jelly.

It fluoresces bright green under UV light!

Dryhead agate, from the Bighorn Mountains in Montana! This agate is named after the many bison skulls found in the area. A weird shaped guy with awesome red and orange bands.

Bou Lili agate, from Morocco! I like the name of this one. Soft banding and very subtle, muted colors. I've heard that this locale can produce peachy colors too.

Bear Canyon agate, from the Pryor Mountains in Montana! Agates from this locale have very stark black and white banding.

Red Fox agate, from Argentina! Sometimes this material is also called "crater agate" because the area it comes from is near the crater of an ancient volcano.

A Blue Sky thunderegg, from New Mexico! Thundereggs from this locale often have this two pointed, saucer-like shape.

It fluoresces really brightly!

Dulcote agate, from England! The bands of this agate are full of calcite, which gives them a strange, distinct texture.

Malawi agate, from Malawi! See all the cracks in it? Almost all Malawi agates have them. Frequent earthquakes due to the East African Rift cause these agates to crack and fracture.

Paint Rock agate, from Paint Rock Valley in Alabama! This agate is very rarely banded, and usually just contains swirls of red and yellow color.

A big, unpolished slab of Montana agate! This agate is known for its clear banding and black lines and spots, which are caused by manganese dendrites.

It's best viewed with some light behind it!

A smaller piece with really amazing dendrites!

Fighting Blood agate, from Hebei Provence in China! This locale is known for its super saturated reds and yellows. This piece has purple amethyst crystals growing inside! They didn't photograph well; they are much more purple in person.

A really weird Fighting Blood agate! This one lacks the bright colors typical of this locale, but makes up for it with that super cool spiderweb pattern!

My friend got me into Steven Universe and we started spitballing ideas back and forth for a oc! Meet Spiderweb Jasper.

Spiderweb Jasper is a runaway defective Jasper who defied the odds by escaping her intended fate of being shattered or harvested due to her off-color appearance. Born short and skinny, traits deemed "atrocious" for a Jasper, she fled from her birth world in search of freedom. Upon hearing about the rebellion on Earth, she decides to investigate. She *was* intended for White Diamond's court, but her deformations were subjected to intense scrutiny. She also has her gem on the bottom of her foot. Despite her defects, Spiderweb has the ability to throw discs that can also double as skates. She's also very passionate about Earth animals.

The octopus shifts to white, then... develops a crude attempt at displaying a red electrocardiogram monitor pulse. The resemblance is not a clear one, as he does not know how (or if it is possible) to control the pattern, resulting in a more distributed spiderweb of stripes instead of a single zig-zagging line. Ratchet could tell by his own visible tentacles that it did not work as intended, and more frustration mingles with his desperation.

“Why’re we all here?” Rosalie said as she joined Emmett at the kitchen table. Bella, Alice and Jasper had also been summoned. Even Alice wasn’t too sure until you burst into the room with a bag full of cooking supplies and a printed-out list.

"I’m entering a cookie bake-off and I need a team." You said as you tipped everything out on the counter and lofted the list of rules in the air until Alice snatched the gracefully out of your hands.

“So you thought five of your team members, who can’t eat human food, would be a good choice?” Emmett said. You glared at him and held up another sheet of paper.

“This is my rival. We’re mortal enemies and we have to beat them.” You continued. Emmett was chuckling now and Rosalie swatted at his arm before softly speaking up to encourage you to keep explaining. Once you explained the rules and showed them the list of ingredients that were allowed you fell silent.

“So… when is the contest?” Emmett asked.

“It’s in two hours.” You said quickly. 

“Oh. So there’s no rush then.” He muttered. The kitchen was suddenly a flurry of activity as Rosalie took charge of weighing everything out, Emmett and Bella were assigned to find the bowls, spoons and trays that they would need. Jasper went with Esme to the store to get some cookie cutters while Alice made neat name tags for each flavour of cookie and team member. Once you were done it was clear that you’d be a strong contender.

“So what now?” Emmett asked.

“We pack them up and take them. Then we need to set the table up and go through each round. Each round has a different theme.” You explained.

“You didn’t mention that earlier… I’ll go and get what we need and meet you there.” Alice said and quickly vanished. Everyone else went to Rosalie’s car while you slowly and carefully carried the boxes of cookies out of the kitchen, worried that you’d drop them.

I'm writing out all of my characters from the RP world because I'm retyping/copy/pasting/typing up character intros for all of my characters onto pillowfort (and queuing them, don't worry, if you follow my new account, you're not gonna be bombarded all at once)... and I'm realizing how overly vast my rp world is.

Just one family alone is: Kate, Marcus, Jasmine, Jasper, Marcy, Jackie, Annika, Anja, Luka... and that's just MY characters alone, not including the ones my friend made for her half of the family (Rhys, who's Kate's husband; Sam, who's Marc and Jas' triplet brother; Mary and Jackie, who are Marcy, Jasper and Jackie's quintuplet sisters... etc).

Like... that's one family. In that world, we focus on like 5 different families. Given, that's our largest family, but STILL. Ridiculous! xD I have 17 intros already in my queue and 2 already posted... and I haven't even gotten through all of the character intros for the rp world ALONE (I'm doing each world together, so I'm not making my followers bounce from world to world and so when I do WIP intros, I can link character intros to them).

When I'm done with all my intros, I'll be going back and making sure every name of characters and WIPs are linked to their proper intros.

It's gonna be a whole spiderweb of organized linking and I'm ALL FOR IT and SO EXCITED.

ooh in terms of Evilness (ie morality) from worst to best:

rufus. this guy tried to directly kill the kids more times than i can count, and also will not stay dead.

senkhara. same as above but she’s also pathetically reliant on the kids, even more so than rufus. actually i think i compared those two in an ask game ages ago and switched their rankings so maybe they’re tied for first rn

denby. ok listen out of all the villains, she’s really the one that was the most scary. like we all know someone like her, someone who appears nice until she’s not, someone who will twist and lie and manipulate everyone to get what they want, someone who will gaslight you so deeply you’ll fall for it despite knowing better. but in terms of motivation, i think she can use a traumatic past as an excuse (it’s clear her dad neglected her etc) and that bumps her down—maybe if she went to therapy or something she wouldn’t have tried to bring a vengeful goddess out from god-knows-where to destroy the earth idk

sophia. i know she’s not really a kid but the fact that she had to pose as one for decades and was literally never successful until tor just has me 💀

victor. he’s not evil by any means but besides tor, there is one (1) time he shows the kids any sort of affection or even just plain-and-simple concern, and it isn’t when they’re crossing the crocodile bridge or trying not to get stung in the spiderweb task or getting branded for death by an dead queen out to get them or begging any adult to not go through with a ridiculous plan to wake up a dead man. no, it’s when the kids may actually be dead and thus put his job is on the line. victor is so selfish and focused on being immortal that it ruins any good traits he could potentially have idc idc BUT like denby, he’s very much a product of his environment and i do like to think pre-s1 was more just a gruff old man than anything else.

jasper. not a bad guy but really has a talent for making some horrendous choices. at least he didn’t directly try to hurt the kids??

the miles miguel and gwen we see in the films are obviously not the only versions of themselves [not the only spider version in the case of gwen] as since insomniac peter is present we must assume that insomniac miles also technically canonically exists within the spiderverse

Okay yes, that is obviously true for comics and the movie versions of Gwen and Miguel.

But given what we see in the events of the movie, is that true for movie Miles? Movie Miles is made spiderman because of theeeeeeee... collider? That's what's it called right? (too lazy to look it up at the moment). So movie Miles is kinda like an anomaly himself and something that should be extremely unique, right?

Maybe this VERSION of Miles is the only one out there. The one that is bitten by a radioactive spider from ANOTHER universe. But there are other regular spider Miles out there. So yeah, that would mean insomniac Miles would be canon in the spiderverse!

Or maybe the comics has Miles always be bitten by an out of universe spider. In that case, then that would mean he isn't an anomaly technically. It could be that this is the first case of a spider Miles being created in the universe spiderweb, so it LOOKS like an anomaly, but in reality time just needs to pass and there will be a lot more spider Miles.

It's like, the first Peter Parker was the start of the web, and then other universes followed suit only targeting Peter Parkers. Then they would target someone else close to an off brand Peter Parker (like Peter Porker). The next would be relatives or clones (like Ben Reiley? I think he's a clone???). After that would be people close to Peter (Gwens and such). Now we are in an era of unrelated to Peter spiders (like Hobie and Miles, except that Hobies have been around longer than Miguel knew about the spiderverse so Hobies are seen as normal while Miles are not).

That's kinda how I'm looking at it mainly just from the perspective of knowing the movies and not so much the comics. Also, talking about them like this is giving me so much Steven Universe vibes. Like how people would talk about Pearls and Jaspers is how I'm talking about Gwens and Peters lol.

Anyway, back on topic. There are definitely other Miles Morales out there. We see an evil(?) version of Miles at the end of the second movie. How many of them are spiders and does every version of Peter Parker have a Miles/Gwen/etc equivalent? Who knows! It's fun to speculate and combine the universe together though! :D

ok this is a very rough draft but:

all of the diamonds, save for bd, were made in the hearts of dying stars and nebulas. grimm and radi - orange and red - came from the same red giant, pk from a white dwarf, unn and wl from a massive nebula. shadelord, however, originated from inside a black hole (how this happened idk, i'm not an astronomer).

radi created the first known homeworld on a huge ringed planet, assisted by her 'brother', Grimm, while unn went off and did whatever i havent paid much attention to her tbh. however, upon pk's creation of his own, most of the gems of radi's world were drawn to his - even her own brother - and she was abandoned, leaving her to develop a deep hatred of her fellow diamonds. time went on as usual, for a diamond anyhow, until both radi and the other diamonds discovered the earth - a planet with bountiful resources, enough to last thousands of years. radi was pretty much desperate and to diminish the other diamond's power she launched a surprise attack on shadelord, supposedly the most powerful of them, leading to their shattering and the creation of the abyss. she then launched a wave of infecting corruption upon the main planet of pk's homeworld, turning affected gems bright orange and corrupting them in the same way as in SU. the other diamonds had a "oh stars oh fuck" moment, and pk had the bright idea of creating a specialised quartz kindergarten, where shadelord's shards would be infused with the developing gems and create ultra-powerful, unfeeling fighting machines to combat radi. this didn't quite work out, and most of the quartzes never emerged, save for four - a morion quartz (ghost), an onyx (hollow), a prasiolite (gv) and a citrine (bv/lk). soon, these quartzes would flee to the earth, along with a pyrite, kyanite, and a spiderweb jasper.
