Hiii, how are you??
If its okay with you i would like to resquest a platonic yandere of either the Sully's or tonowari family(whichever you prefer) when their youngest child (reader) comes home injuries because of some bullies
How would they react??
(if you can't do it or don't feel comfortable its completely fine)
— 𝔀𝓱𝓮𝓷 𝓽𝓱𝓮 𝔂𝓸𝓾𝓷𝓰𝓮𝓼𝓽 𝓰𝓮𝓽𝓼 𝓱𝓾𝓻𝓽 — (sully family, tonowari family x platonic!reader) | separate
requested: yes
pairing: sully familly x gn!reader, tonowari family x gn!reader
tags: platonic, yandere, youngest sibling, youngest child, just a doting family
warnings: lowercase intended, mentions of torture but not elaborated, injuries
a/n: characters are aged up! hi there! i'm doing very well, thank you very much. i just came back from class and i got a few more ask after this so i'm very inspired in making and answering them. hope you enjoy this!
word count: 946
+ gif not mine. ctto.
sully family:
being the youngest in the sully family has its perks. having 5 protective older siblings i’m adding spider ‘cause i can is fun! y/n has friends to play with them, someone who looks after them when their parents aren’t available, and their life is never boring
but when they came home crying, their knees scraped and bleeding after being pushed by their bullies during the kid’s nursery (i imagine there’s a nursery class that is just the na’vi kids interacting for early socialization in the clan)
their knees hurt, and their elbow also scraped due to the impact of the push, just crying that so, so, and so pushed them during nursery
neytiri was fuming, to say the least. no one messes with her baby. no one
jake was trying to calm his mate, reminding her that those are just kids and they mess up from time to time. it’s the parents you should get mad at because they didn’t raise their kids right
neytiri would then blame the kids’ parents for raising rotten kids that bullied her youngest and would threaten the parents if their kids bully her baby again
jake, on the other hand, would threaten the livelihood of the parents. would hold their family’s place in the clan above their heads and wouldn’t hesitate to banish them. to hell if they get killed by the animals that lurked in the dark
kiri was cleaning up y/n’s booboos while neteyam held his baby sibling
lo’ak plans on tripping said kids by holding his foot out and acting like he didn’t do anything (petty but hey, it’s a small way to get back at the kids)
spider would distract y/n by talling them stories that happened back in the lab. they loved hearing all the sciency human stuff and hearing them from spider was fun and he would probably join lo’ak on the pettiness
tuk was quickly weaving some bracelets to help her baby sibling calm down. she will do anything and everything to help her only baby sibling out
if said bullies had older siblings that are learning to be a warrior or a tsahik, neteyam and kiri would sabotage them. neteyam would destroy the weapons that the siblings had created for the training while kiri would add herbs and slimes that messes up the medicine the siblings would create mo’at gets disappointed at the bullies’ siblings for messing up their works
but, if we say that y/n is younger than lo’ak by a year (around 13) and took tuk’s place as the youngest, that’s another story
jake and neytiri would be the last to know that they’re being bullied by other na’vi’s because y/n begged their siblings to not tell their parents
neteyam and lo’ak would beat those bullies up to a pulp. they didn’t care if their dad would tell them off afterward. what matters is that they don’t get to harm their siblings ever again
kiri would destroy their image if said bullies were training to be a tsahik. she would tell mo’at a lot of things that would slowly hurt their character then, later on, would be told off and not be thought by mo’at
spider would join neteyam and lo’ak at one point but then again, he’s small while teen na’vi’s were hella tall so he becomes neteyam and lo’ak’s hypeman
overall: the sully family wouldn’t mind beating a few na’vi’s up when protecting their youngest. sully’s stick together!
tonowari family:
y/n is the kid that didn’t have to do much to impress the family. they could just breathe and tonowari would throw a whole feast to celebrate it
ronal is a very doting mother. although a warrior and seen as a very serious tsahik, she would smile whenever she sees her youngest. also very protective. like, super duper protective that no one besides their family can interact with their youngest. if you do, she’d wave your head up on her spear and set it as a reminder to the rest that if you do mess with her youngest, you’ll be next
tonowari is much more doting than ronal but if the softer version. instead of being violent like his mate, he would rather let nature do the violence. why get the blood on your fingers when pandora can do the work? he didn’t want to hold his baby with the blood of their bullies
ao’nung is no different from their mother. but instead of giving the easier end, he would rather beat them up and keep them alive just to prolong to torture. torture = honoring his sibling’s existence
tsireya is the most normal of the bunch. but if she hears that her sibling is messed with, just knows the whole family is coming for their head. she would be with her sibling and distracting them while the family ‘talks’ with said bullies
so when one-day y/n comes home severely injured by her bullies, all hell broke loose
the parents of said bullies were held off by other metkayina’s while they watched ao’nung, rotxo, and a few other of their friends beat up the bullies
ronal was held back by tonowari because if he didn’t, ronal would’ve hurt the parents of the bullies or worse
tonowari eventually forcefully removed the family that tormented his youngest child because if he gives them a chance, his child might get hurt again and he’s not taking that risk
tsireya was tending y/n’s wounds and reassuring them that the bullies won’t hurt them again because their parents will send them away
tdrl: you hurt tonowari and ronal’s youngest, and you leave severely beaten up

Atsv x atwow, gender neutral reader accidentally travels to pandora and gets stuck there, let's just pretend they can breathe the air or their spider suit provides oxygen, reader is really confused on how they ended up in a colorful glowing forest, they walk around trying to find someone and guess who they found, Spider! They were both confused, reader was confused on why he's wearing a mask and Spider is confused on how they can breathe, Spider decided to take reader to Max and Norm so they can get checked, the 3 we're surprised when they found out that reader's body can make spider webs and they can climb, fast forward both Spider and reader are really close, they were also close with the Sully's, they really like reader because they've helped them around, it was all peaceful until the deja vu squad came, Quaritch was really taken back when he saw reader, them breathing without an oxygen mask and holes on their wrists? That's not normal, when Quaritch decided to take reader, he will and take reader, then Neytiri's calls could be heard, they all knew what to do, few moments later and everyone is running away except reader because they were held back by whoever, that was whoever's first mistake, reader bit whoever and injected venom, and guess what reader's venom can make? Make hallucinations! And it also slows down the body's movement so basically it's like a nightmare, the venom lasts for 2 and a half hours if its not cured, now here is what you can choose, reader is captured with Spider, the 2 got so close that they're now a thing! The second choice is reader going to the reef with the Sully's, that's all I could muster I'm sorry if it doesn't make any sense, and as usual I hope you have a great day and remember to eat well and drink water! :D

A/N: I somewhat based the reader of Hobie Brown, I also had a hard time trying to come up with something, but I got something! I hope you like this! I hope you're safe and staying Hydrated.
Masterlist
You had been going to different dimensions, making sure that everything was alright, until something went wrong. You had basically got stuck in a dimension that wasn't your home, luckily for you someone had found you and decided to help you. This known of the name of Spider took you to these group of scientists to help you out. They scientist known as Norm and Max were surprised about how your DNA was mixed with a spider's, also that you were able to breath air.
When they had began to ask how you ended up here and how you had spider DNA, you went from all the way to the beginning. Telling them that you got bitten by a radioactive spider and that you had been a Spider Person for the last three years, then you explained on how you were able to go to many dimensions. "So let me get this straight, you're from another dimension? As in another Pandora?" Spider asked. "Yeah, I'm from Pandora-2009, and this Pandora that I'm currently from is Pandora-2023" you explained.
Both the scientist couldn't believe this, you? From another dimension? that was unheard of. Since you knows how long it'll take you to go back home, you'll stick around with the Spider, scientist and the others that live on the planet.
Then you met The Sully's, in all honestly, they looked exactly like the Sully's back home, except they were na'vi.
They also wanted to know about this whole dimension thing, so you explained to them just like how you explained to Norm and Max. The rest is history.
For the last couple months, you had been with the Sully kids and Spider, they thought it was cool how you had spider powers. How you can shoot out webs from your arms, climb onto trees easily, have spider senses and had inhumane strength.
They seemed interested on how you were basically a human Spider, you were a part of the mischief that they'd do. They were very interested on your life back in your universe and you told them everything.
They've also noticed how you were always question authority and how you refuse to listen to anyone older than you. You'd always tell them that you're your own boss. You were a good person, but sometimes you were hard to deal with or just get to understand.
You and Spider had grown kind of connection, sure you only knew him for a couple months, but you were growing closer.
When you weren't with the Sully kids, you and Spider were together. Spider was really interested on how your Pandora was like and he wanted to know a bit more about you personally.
Everyone began to notice how you and Spider were close, but you both would just say that you two were friends. Even though you had been developing feelings for the boy for the last couple months but choose to say nothing.
The Sully kids had seemed to like you, they saw you as a fun cousin to be around. You were fun and very helpful
Then Deja Blu came, you, Spider, Lo'ak, Kiri and Tuk were just looking around the forest like usual, you felt your spider senses tingle and tried to warn the kids that you should leave not, it was too late. You all were captured by a team of Recoms.
You and the others were no prisoners, the team had been looking for Jake Sully, but you all refused to speak. You had been screaming at them to fuck off and to let you all go.
The leader was curious when it came to you. He was curious on how you were able to breath the toxic air and the holes on your wrist were you'd shoot your webs.
Until eclipse, you were all waiting for something to happen, then came Jake, Neytiri and Neteyam, hell broke lose. You decided to do what both Lo'ak and Tuk did, you bit your captive, but not only that, but you had injected the venom that you had contained in your teeth into the fake.
He let go of you right away, he was hissing and crying in pain while you ran away with both Kiri and Spider. The venom had gone to work right away. He'll be hallucinating and it'll slow him down for about two to three hours, that should be enough time for you to get away.
Due to an explosion, Spider had fallen off the tree, causing him to roll down onto the floor, then you used your webs to get him as fast as you could to get him back up, but you were taken down with him, being captured again.
Now you and Spider were in a prison like cell, you had tried to everything to get out of the cell, but nothing worked. You were both trapped.
Until you were both taken out of the cell and were basically getting tortured, no matter what the RDA did, you both did not say a word. Since then on, you began to refer to them as Fascists, not only that but what they were doing is a work of Capitalism.
The only way that you and Spider, might have a chance to escape was that you both play along with the RDA. You hated it.
Even though you both were force to work with the enemy, you had on another, you had even confessed to Spider, incase you both didn't make it out of the RDA.

(28/10/2023) (9 172 words)
Everyone was in a rush at the lab. You knew they were preparing an expedition. Norm would come talk to you soon, you wonder what stupid excuse he'll invent this time.
Something along the lines of 'it's dangerous', 'we won't be long', bla bla bla. You're used to it by now.
You suppose you're old enough to go back on Earth, now. But you were staying here with Norm since your parents did so years before. They died in the big war with Jake Sully. Well, your mother did survive, as to why you're here. But she only had the strength to give you life before losing her. So, yeah, you never really had a family, nor did Spider.
So, to compensate, he founds himself the Sullys, his new family. And you had Norm and your studies. It was all you had here. The problem is that what you considered your true family was him, Spider. He hated humans. Even though he was one. And, somehow, you understand him. So, you suspected he wasn't really fond of you. At least not anymore.
Especially since you were continuing your researches on Pandora's fauna and flora instead of simply accepting it and living with it as it is. Without trying to understand it and simply living with it.
Norm enters your dorm and smiles at you, as you predicted. You smile back. He starts his speech as usual: asking if you're okay, if you slept well, if your researches are progressing, if you're not too bored. And finally, he tells you the real reason of his presence here.
"We discovered this grove, you know ? Plants out there have exceptional medical virtues that we're yet to study.
-Good, when are we going ? "
The embarrassed face of Norm told you that it wasn't that simple.
"About that..."
Norm clears his throat. He begins a round walk in front of you to evacuate his anxiety.
"You don't have an avatar. It's well too dangerous to bring you with us. With the others, we decided that you should stay here. It's the best for you. And, you know, with your leg... he scratchs his forehead, embarrassed. We won't be long anyway and we'll bring back some of the flowers to study them here. You won't miss anything.
You knew he was lying. Firstly, despite the fact that you don't own an avatar, everyone on the team have one. For this reason, they won't have any difficulties in escorting you. Moreover, there is few to little predators interested in harming Humans. The only danger to which you are exposed therefore comes down to the environment in general. Which is mountains, severe weather, falls or any other natural obstacle that are easily avoidable things if you are on the back of one of the avatars of the team.
Secondly, you know for a fact that Norm won't collect any flowers. He forbids it. To him, and the team, disrupt the natural cycle of Pandora is a direct outrage to Eywa. If a plant grows at a certain place, then you shouldn't disturb it. Eywa knows and predict everything. Each molecule has a place and a role to play in this planet. At best, Norm will bring back a single petal to study but that will be all.
Clearly, you're not allowed to come because you're a burden.
"I'll be alone?"
He looks surprised for a moment. Norm probably wasn't expecting you to be so cooperative. But hey, what more can you do? They all already think you're a kid, freaking out now will only confirm that.
"Mike will be there. If you need help, just go to him directly in his quarters."
Mike is unsociable. He never leaves his laboratory except for vital needs. Plus, even though he stays with you, he's really sarcastic and sometimes hurtful. What Norm is telling you is that you'll be alone.
"When will you be back?
-Probably in two or three days. It won't be long."
Norm smiled softly at you. You don't smile back. He places his hand on your head, as if to reassure you.
"Don't do anything stupid while we're gone, huh? I'm counting on you."
Either way, it's not like there's much you can do here. There is nothing stupid to do. Norm tells you that you'll have to warn Spider if you see him, then he smiles at you, taking you in his arms. His hand strokes your back comfortingly.
"We'll be back soon, don't worry. If you're bored, I have old movie tapes in my room. But not a word to Jake, that idiot would be able to steal them from me."
You believe it was a joke. After all, you and Jake weren't close. Since he started a family, he seems to pretend to know nothing about Humans. Besides, why would you be friends with a forty-something married with children? It was obvious that you weren't going to tell him anything.
But Norm was repeating how Jake too was disabled and how you two could bond and he'd teach you plenty of things and... Seriously, what the hell ? No, you won't bond with him. You don't care that he was in a wheelchair for Eywa's sake. It's not a funny common point.
And you found it mostly humiliating how Norm simply saw you as the fragile weak kid. You have a personality too, you're not only disabled. You like things, you do things in your free time. You're not dying. But he seems to forget that too often. You're nineteen (less ? or more? You can't tell) ! You're not a kid anymore, you know how to handle yourself!
After a few final goodbyes, the avatars leave the lab. You watched them leave from the windows, tears of frustration buried deep inside of you. It was so unfair how you were always alone. You were born here. You have the right to want to explore, right? But no, always always always alone. It's frustrating.
Besides, you didn't feel comfortable alone here. There was not a sound. Only the fine roar of the machines in the background. You could hear your heartbeat as if shared by a speaker. With every step you took, the metal floor echoed throughout the base. You couldn't stand the noise: it made you anxious. You had the terrible feeling of being lost, alone, in the middle of space.
Finally, you returned to your room. You threw yourself head first on the bed, smothered your tears in your cushion and then slept for a while. To lull yourself to sleep, you ran your fingers through your hair and scratched your head. When you woke up hours later, nothing had changed. That same anxiety-inducing silence still resided. You stood up, then stared dreamily at the vegetation outside the base from the main hall window.
To be a Na'vi, what a dream. Browse these lands without worrying about anything. Flying on the back of an Ikran. To jump, climb, run in Pandora. Breathe its air. What would you give to be able to do so. What would you give to finally live.
To take your mind off things, you immerse yourself in your studies. You always do that, anyway. There was this flower which, surprisingly, was curative for Human but toxic for the Na'vi.
You begin by taking various samples when the heavy door of the laboratory opens with a loud hiss. Spider comes in, a big silly smile on his face that quickly fades when he sees you. There's not a sound when your eyes meet and a duel begins.
You, wondering where he had been wandering again to come back this dirty. Him, probably thinking that you have no life to work all day like you do. As usual, his cheeks are bright red. Because of his running around all day, he always come back sweating bucket and looking like a crayfish. He looks away first to rush straight to his room, without a word. You chuckle bitterly.
Yeah, he really hates you.
It was several hours later that you decided to stop your activities. You had tried to waste as much time as possible on that damned plant but who were you trying to lie to. It was terribly pointless, brimming with boredom.
You didn't check to see what Spider was up to since he got here. You were hoping he had showered. At least the body. He had a habit of putting his dirty hands all over the lab. You complain but sometimes you wish he had his hands in your business. At least you two would talk. Even for something as simple as scolding him.
He was the only boy your age. You used to play as kids. But with years, you drifted apart. As soon as you were both fifteen, towards puberty, he left and preferred his adventures. Somehow, you can't blame him. You would have done the same if you could.
The lab was still quiet. Too calm, perhaps. Your mind wandered to the boy living here. How was he so quiet? Usually he enjoys jumping and running around. Maybe you're disturbing him? He's not used to you two being alone together in the lab. And since you don't talk to each other as much anymore, maybe he's embarrassed to go out?
It's silly, you live here and it's impossible to avoid someone on such a small base. You see each other constantly. Well, if he doesn't love you, there's nothing you can do about it. Despite your sadness. You smile weakly. It's that you two had fun when you were kids. You so wish you could talk to him without just asking about Norm or the team…
Ready to go back to your room, you check one last time that you've put the equipment away correctly before turning around. Your action barely started that your chest collides with someone's body. Your heart misses a beat.
You jump and step back, your lower back hitting the desk causing a whine of pain to escape from your throat. You close your eyes, catching your breath as your hand rests on your chest as if to stop your heart from breaking out. Has he been there long? He was waiting behind your back without saying anything? Why get so close to you?
"Spider!" you sigh. "Don't do that again, I almost had an attack…"
He stands in front of you, arms crossed high over his bulging chest and chin proud. Why is he standing like that? Who is he trying to impress? You look him up and down for a moment. He cleaned himself and he doesn't smell bad. He really showered ? That's a miracle. Your gaze must have been more insisting than you thought since he seems to curl up on himself, lowering his eyes to the ground.
"You uh… do you need anything?" you ask, calming your heartbeat still rapid after such a fright.
“Where's everyone? He asks. Of course he'd ask that.
You pass by him, towards the hallway of the dormitories. You don't show it but you are terribly uncomfortable talking to him. You're embarrassed ? You can't really pinpoint it.
-They're gone exploring a place. They should be back in a few days." you answer without looking at him.
Not a sound. Yet you know he's still there, in front of the desk, staring at you. What was he waiting for? He acted weird. Spider was surprising, it's the least you could say, but he's not one to sneak up on people. Usually he jumps on them screaming.
"You're alone ?" To this, you only respond with a hum.
You didn't expect the discussion to last this long to be honest. You who wanted him to talk to you so bad, were more uncomfortable than anything else.
Recently, you have memories of your childhood that come back when you look at him so you avoid his face as much as possible. It was last night, an old memory came back to you. The two of you, hiding under the bed. You were laughing for nothing. You must have been ten or eleven. You kissed before giggling like idiots.
"But Mike is in his room." you add. Even though he knew as well as you that meant you were alone.
You don't know why you remembered this moment. It was weird too, considering Spider was with Kiri now.
"Where did they go?
-I don't know, Spider. They went to explore somewhere."
It was as if he wanted to force the discussion. He followed you down the hall until you came to your bedroom door. He was behind you again. His chest inches from your back. You wondered for a moment why he seemed so attached to you.
"You uh… Do you want to come with us later? We're going to watch the eclipse and it's really beautiful so…
The face of the Sullys appears before your eyes like a distant memory. You try to unlock your room but the presence of the boy behind you stresses and disconcerts you.
"Thank you Spider, I'll consider it.
-Oh, you have something to do first? What are you working on?
You frown before finally turning to face him. He takes a few steps back noting your abusive proximity. His face was flushed but his eyes never left yours.
-I thought you weren't interested?
It's not that you thought, in fact, you were sure of it. He had told you himself that what you were doing was boring, several times. So you were rather surprised.
"It's just…" Finally, he sighs and doesn't finish his sentence. "We'd be really happy to spend time with you."
You had doubts on that. Neteyam is the portrait of his mother. He doesn't like humans. For him, you're an alien. Lo'ak probably doesn't know you. At least he must not have noticed your existence. You're just a regular scientist to him, like the dozens there already is.
Kiri only talks to you when she wants to see her mother. And even then, she usually asks her questions to Norm. Tuk has surely never seen you. Neytiri, her mother, doesn't like knowing her close to you and to 'sky people' in general.
And Spider, ah, Spider. Spider ignores you. He never asked you to leave the lab with him again since your 'separation'. The day he decided he wasn't your friend anymore.
"Oh really ?" It was ironic. And it was obvious.
Spider was embarrassed. Your fault, surely. But you had your reasons. You didn't give yourself the opportunity to think about it, but it had hurt you. Enormously. It's so hard to be in your position. The only child like you, your age, decided to cut you out of his life overnight.
You only have him. He's the only reference you have. You don't even know what human children look like! You wanted to grow with him, discover Pandora with him! But, hey, guess he doesn't want someone who can't even move. It's humiliating to think that the only young person of the same race as you, hates you. Would it have been the same on Earth? You would have been hated?
You spent years growing up alone, without friends. Because Norm isn't for sure close to a friend. He can be considered as your father figure but not someone you'd share your secrets with. When was the last time you played hide and seek ? When was the last time you played tag ?
You don't know, days, months and years are all blur in your mind. Everyday is the same. Days are mixing into each other.
"They don't really have opportunities to talk to you, so the eclipse is a good way to get to know each others. The Sully are really cool, you know.
Probably even nicer than you if he abandoned you for them. He's lying, too. Because there are plenty of opportunities here in the lab as you never move far. If they really wanted to talk to you, they would have.
-I can't walk in Pandora with my leg, Spider. You know it." your tone was harsh, wanting to make him realize just how little he knows of you now.
The truth is, you can walk. You can try to train your body to walk longer but you need to be accompanied to do so. You can't walk alone in the forest of Pandora. You can fall, you can get attacked, get lost. Anything. But nobody wants to help you. So you're stuck in the lab and the more you're stuck, the less you walk and you lose the habit of walking and your body weaken. It's a vicious circle, really.
Norm simply gives you an treatment and everyone call it a day. It's a sort of machine which massage your muscles to soften or muscle them or something. You don't do it anymore. So it's not important. You don't blame Norm, he's a busy man. He tells you to apply some cream to ease the pain, you don't do it either.
All of this to say, you won't go with him. Because there is high chance your leg will just give out before them and it'll be the most shameful event of your life. And since thinking is all you can do here, you'll think about it until your death. So it's a big no.
-But I thought you could still walk?
-But I thought I was 'too weak and broken' ?"
Spider is left speechless before you. Mouth gaping and searching his words. He said that to you multiple times as kids. Norm had told him you weren't, which was true. But Spider meant no harm by saying that as you'd always tell him he was 'stupid'. It was a fair exchange, really. Just two stupids kids nagging each other. So yeah, maybe you went really low on this one.
But you were hurt and you weren't kids anymore.
You already spent years alone, what's some more ? You could talk to him, tell him how you missed him, how you forgive him and go with him stare at the eclipse, but you don't. Instead, you widen the gap between you. Probably because you hate yourself so you want to ruin your own life, loving to be tortured. The door finally unlock before you.
You look at Spider one last time, offering him a tight lip smile and enters your room, closing the door shut behind you. You stay put beside the door, staring at your room mindlessly. You had no reasons to come here in the first place, but you wanted to escape him.
Glaring at your bed, you decide another nap would do you good. You just have to make the days pass by quicker so everyone come back and you're not alone with him anymore.
Sometimes, you wonder how they're doing on Earth. If it would have been better if you were there instead of Pandora. Because being on a beautiful planet like this one without being able to explore it and being considered an alien is pure torture. The worst is that you'll never get an avatar, it being too expensive. Or so the other scientists told you.
You'll just stay here, being the fragile human, weaker, smaller, with a shorter life.
Then you think about Spider: Why did he suddenly want to bring you outside ? Why did he want you to be with his friends ? Why did he even talk to you ? Why did he leave you ? And, finally, the question haunting you, would he do it again ?
Staring at the cream on your nightstand, you think putting some again wouldn't do harm. Just in case you want to try to walk outside. Just in case. Staring at your leg with your medicine smeared in your palm, you observe how it's all swollen. You poke it with your index, a mark is left.
You massage your sore muscle, asking yourself if this is really working or if that is only a placebo effect. Once everything is done, you place your legs beside each others and compare them. You chuckle humorlessly in seeing the size difference.
You'll never be able to explore Pandora.
When you were still a kid, Spider and you asked for a room with windows. Lot of them. This way, even past your curfew you'd still be able to see outside. Even though you had bunk bed, you were always finding a way to sleep on the ground to face outside.
Tomorrow, we'll go there, he'd say, I'll show you this tree, he'd say, Jake brought us there, he'd tell you. And he was always honoring his words and brought you everywhere.
For a while, it was perfect. Because as you were always walking, your legs were gaining muscle ! But Spider always wanted to go further and further and further to the point where he just couldn't take you with him.
You didn't understand at first because he always had time for you. He was having fun with his 'siblings', the sully, but he would still come back to the lab to play with you. But then he just stopped. When he was coming back to the lab, it was really late in the evening and he was out like a light.
Then he grew up and you went separate ways, he had his own room, you had yours. And no windows could be seen in yours. Because now, you hate looking outside.
You don't want to sleep, but you're bored and wants to pass the day. You walk mindlessly in circle, thinking of what you could do without leaving your room. At first, you try to paint, but you're quickly bored. You try to read a book but as you already read them multiple times, you're quickly bored, too.
You write, draw, try to sleep but you can't shake the uneasy feeling inside of you. Why did he come talk to you ? What does he want ? You're on your back, slotted comfortably between your cushions when you realize that your throat is dry.
You're thirsty. So you have to drink, outside of your room. You sigh, passing your hand on your forehead. You hope deeply Spider left because you seriously don't want to talk to him right now.
You get up without a sound, putting your ear against the door to see if someone's here. No sound, good. You rush straight to the kitchen like area. You're delighted when it is indeed confirmed that no one is inside.
No one is inside.
You should have checked before because outside the base, a few meters away from the windows, you see Spider, Kiri and Lo'ak sat on the grass laughing together. You tense, you turn your back to them, praying they don't see you.
You grab a glass of water at the speed of light, but too slowly as the heavy door of the base open. You drink it in one time, put it back on the counter and start leaving.
"Hi...! calls Kiri, embarrassed. She knew you were trying to leave, that's why she sounds sorry.
You freeze. You can't ignore her, she did nothing wrong. You'd just be mean. So you turn your head a little, smiling politely. Spider isn't here, nor is Lo'ak. You're reassured.
-Hi Kiri. Norm is not here at the moment but you have free access to the laboratory if you want. you recite, used to this same discussion.
-I know, Spider told me."
She was oddly embarrassed. Now it was starting to get really weird. First Spider and then Kiri? Why do they all look uncomfortable? Did you do something ? Do you have something on your face? Kiri was the kind of person to be quite frank with other. She wasn't mean by any ways, of course, not to you at least. She was simply honest. So you know something is up when she doesn't look you in the eyes.
You stare at the security displate on the door behind her to distract yourself, how in case of a fire the exit is in the common area, how the masks allowing you to breath the outside air can also filter the smoke.
And Kiri doesn't say anything, but the door open another time. Spider enters and you want to flee at the sight. You purse your lips, not knowing if the discussion was over or not. Kiri looked like she wanted to tell you something but she wasn't uttering a word. Is it rude of you to leave ?
You try to read the security displate again, extinguishers are a little everywhere on the base. Did a fire already start here ? It's possible, after all. Still, it seems impossible as every scientist here is cautious.
As you were engrossed in your reading, a shock-like launch take over your leg. You grit your teeth and frown, hoping no one notices. You hated being seen like this.
Especially in front of the Na'vi, in this case Kiri. The Omatikaya were strong, proud. You couldn't even stand for more than twenty/thirty minutes.
So you didn't like hanging out with the Sullys. They ran, jumped and played happily all over Pandora. When it was impossible for you to do so. But it was your planet, too.
Kiri clears her throat, giving a look to Lo'ak still outside in the grass. He was laughing. At you ? You don't know, but Kiri seemed to be asking him for help. Are you making her nervous ? Now, you feel bad. You didn't do anything, you don't want her to be uncomfortable to just talk to you.
You don't know where is Spider, you don't want to look for him. You just know he's in the room with you.
-By the way, tonight we're all going to observe the eclipse so I thought you could come? I'm sure you'd have a lot of fun. she tried to sound casual but his words sounded fake, as if repeated. Why is she offering you to come? You're not even friends. Did Spider ask her to do so?
-Thank you Kiri, Spider already offered to me. I think I'll pass my turn. There will always be other eclipses in the future. you stay silent, analyzing her body language. Is there... A problem ?
Kiri shakes her head, assuring you that everything's fine. But you can't believe her when they've been acting so strange. Did Spider talk about you to her ? And if yes, why? And what did he say ?
The three of you are staring at each other in utter silence. Your two interlocutors deeply uncomfortable and getting fidgety. Kiri gives you a tight lip smile, as if she knew how weird and awkward the whole situation was. As if she's giving you support.
You then stare at Spider, who you tried to forget a few minutes ago. Maybe he could answer your confusion as he seems to be the one linking everything together. He smiles at you, cheeks once again bright red. Eywa, this is just too embarrassing.
"I'll have to go back to my room so..." you say, already backing off, thumb pointing toward your fleeting.
You don't 'have' to go back but you really want to avoid this mood. You might die from embarrassment in being stared at by two people without them talking.
Your leaving awake Kiri. She almost scream at you to wait and you halt in your track, startled by her sudden outburst. You think she is blushing, terribly uncomfortable, but it's hard to tell as her skin is blue. But it look like it's now a little more purple. Truly fascinating.
-I think Spider wanted to show you something. Right Spider ? Kiri exclaims, staring insistently at the boy sitting on a high chair a few feet away from you.
-Me ? No, why ?
-I'm sure you do, come on, I know you remember…" Kiri gritted her teeth, glaring at the boy. She was almost desperate, wanting him to help her out of the hole she was digging.
What is happening ? What are they talking about ? Something to show you ? Is that why Spider been so weird to you since this morning ? Why didn't he just showed it to you? He doesn't have to ask Kiri for help.
-I don't think that is... he's cut off by the cold tone of Kiri.
-Spider...
With the death glare she sent him, he quickly stood up away from the chair. He looks behind him, to the window, Lo'ak smiles at him. Why isn't he just coming in ? Why is he just laughing at everything going on ? Is this an inside joke ? You don't find it funny. Are they making fun of you ?
Spider walks up to you, step by step while Kiri back off. He clears his throat, that's when you notice he's hiding something in the pit of his hand.
-I did… well, no. I found, yeah, I found that and kinda thought about you, well, about your behavior ? But, uh, so I took it. he lifts his hand to your, a bracelet in his palm. Here. you frown.
-You found a bracelet already made? Isn't it just someone else's bracelet ?
How, in this huge and vast forest, did he even find it ? And what does he even mean by your behaviour ?
-No, I...
-You could get in trouble Spider, you should try to see if someone lost it.
You were worried because even thought Spider tried to remove you from his life, you were still scared for him. He was a human, he wasn't accepted in the Omaticaya tribe. If one of the Na'vi found out he 'stole' something, he'll be done for. He's been mean to you, but you know he doesn't deserve to be alone.
And why is Kiri cheering him up. Isn't she supposed to tell him it's bad ? Is she trying to sabotage him? No, she wouldn't do that. Well, she doesn't really look like she'd be mean anyway.
Kiri rolls her eyes and shakes her head. You don't understand.
-Seriously Spider, you should put it back where you found it. you insist.
He closes his eyes shut and sigh. Head going low. He looked frustrated and embarrassed. You noticed that Kiri walked away to leave you two more privacy. You preferred when she was closer.
-Okay, maybe I... didn't find it.
This make no sense. He did it himself ? Someone gifted it to him ? In both case, it's nice. So why would he lie to you on something like this ? What's got into him today ?
-Why would you lie to me ? on something like that, that is. It's just a small bracelet, nothing to be lying for.
-Listen, I... I made it. For you. Kiri helped. Please, come with us watch the eclipse tonight. The Sully want to meet you.
Meet you? But you're here. You never go far. They already met you. What is this about ? Is this bracelet a simple gift or something with a deeper meaning ? You know Na'vi have certain traditions, like gift giving to court a mate. But you're not his mate and Spider isn't really a Na'vi, still, he lives like one.
But most importantly, aren't Kiri and Spider together ? Are you misinterpreting things ? Surely. Because why would he starts to court you after avoiding you for years ? When he's already in a relationship! Is he trying to reconnect with you? Or he simply realized that you're the only one to be of the same race as him and he has no other choice.
It's sad but it's a truth. He can't mate with a Na'vi, he doesn't have an avatar. You're his only choice. But you don't want to be the last option. You don't want him to choose you just because you're the two only humans. You'd rather see him ignore you for years again.
-So? Will you come ?
-I don't think.... You start but he cuts you off.
-Why ? I'll carry you on my back if you want ! You want to roll your eyes at the ridiculous aspect of it all.
-Why are you insisting so much Spider ?
-I'll even give you foot massage !
-Ew! You and Kiri exclaim in unison. Spider smiles at your reactions and without really realizing it, you lightly smile as well.
-I swear you'll have fun. Please." he asks you one last time.
So you accepted. Because you realized that you still wanted to be his friend. Because you miss his company. Because Spider is who he is. Because you want to go out desperately.
And that's how you find yourself standing nervously before the Sully in the middle of the forest hours later. The suns barely start to leave the sky, one of them being hidden by the clouds.
Lo'ak greeted you awkwardly while Tuk jumped at the idea of meeting someone new. Neteyam wasn't here with them, it made you feel less stressed as he's the one who scares you the most.
They soon started strolling around with their giant legs, quickly out-speeding you and Spider.
The tree siblings were walking ahead of you, far ahead. Jumping and laughing. But Spider was beside you, smiling. Like the old times. A wave of sadness, nostalgia and shame hit you. You don't even know why you're ashamed. He told you he wanted you to be here. Still, you feel like he forces himself to be kind to you.
"You can speed up, I'm just behind.
-Can't I stay here ? He shrugs while smiling happily.
Well, yes, of course he can. It was just an offer. You shrug, letting him do his own choices.
-It's been a while since our last discussion, I don't want to leave you alone."
Again, you thought. And you think he thought it too by his apologetic look. Is it too late for a new friendship to bloom ? Has time passed too quickly ? You're both adults now. But you still have this feeling pulling at your chest each time you see him. Knowing damn well things didn't end correctly between you.
Your good leg hit against a root on the ground and you lose your balance. Spider is quick to grab your hand to prevent you from falling.
You feel so bad for always needing someone. But you also feel angry. Because it's fun reducing to always need someone company to just walk. You know Spider wants to ask you if you're okay, still, he doesn't. And you really appreciate it.
"So? That flower you've been studying? he asks instead, letting go of your hand slowly, as if he didn't really want to.
You frown at his choice of conversation subject. Spider is not one to like science, at all. It's intriguing because that mean he watched you work for far longer than you thought to know what you were working on.
Then why didn't he just talk to you? Instead of hiding himself behind your back waiting for you to turn around.
-It's progressing. I think we can make medicinal meals for humans with it. It's really interesting.
You didn't want to talk much about it since you knew Spider would be bored pretty quickly. But if he was, he was hiding it damn well because you couldn't see anything but his fond smile.
-That's cool. He says. Tell me more.
You were surprised to say the least. Because never had Spider ask you to explain your works to him.
-Are you sure ? You asked doubtfully
-Well, yeah!"
And he was so excited to hear you that a warm feeling enveloped your heart. You started explaining every progress you made in the past few months, not sparing any details. You knew he didn't understand things sometimes but you were happy to explain it to him more clearly.
Often, you'd have to stop to escalate a fallen tree or some high places but Spider was always eager to help you. Sometimes, the Sully would look back at you two and smile.
At first, you thought that Kiri would join your conversation but maybe she knew you two needed this talk. You were old friend trying to reconnect and she was kind enough to let you have this. She never looked like the jealous type anyway.
When you finished your story, you asked Spider about his dailies activities and he was happy to indulge.
And without really understanding how you made it, you were now on his back while he was walking proudly towards his friends. Honestly, you knew Spider was somewhat of a muscular guy but you'd never thought it was possible for him to carry you for so long like he did.
And when you arrived, you thought he'd be quick to set you on the ground but he didn't. He kept you on his back as long as he could. You just wanted to enjoy your old friend's company, stay in the illusion that nothing ever changed.
The view was really beautiful. A calm place on the edge of the void. Ikran were flying down there, some mounted by omaticaya, other simply loving their freedom. You could see all the floating island from here. And of course, the suns.
Surprisingly, you weren't feeling too tired, yet. Spider was still talking to you but your face on his shoulder, the warmth of his body and the comfort of it all before the beautiful view of Pandora was enough to put you in a trance.
Eventually, when you met the stare of Kiri, you forced yourself to get off him. Because you didn't want to make her uncomfortable.
Your hand wipe away the few water drops on your mask. It's a little frisky out there, but it feels good.
As everyone was laying on the ground excitedly, you sat at the far right of the siblings, leaving a polite space between you. But the space quickly was filled by Spider's body plopping beside you. He smiles, you can't give him the same kindness, mind full of questions.
Why are you here ? Because as much as the scenery is nice, you're not close no any of the people who 'invited' you. What was the plan in making you come here ?
Spider's hands which lay flat on the ground support him, his arms behind his back. He's almost laying down.
"Don't fall asleep." he tells you but you have no idea why he told you that as you're wide awake.
Maybe he's just trying to be nice, trying to be polite and make you feel included. You don't mind it. You're sure this whole rendez-vous together is a one time thing that you'll never do again. So you're fine with it.
Even if you're disappointed. Because you love going out in Pandora.
You concentrate on staring at the scene before you instead of sulking. It was really pretty, you never saw something so beautiful before. Because the last time you went out, you were young and had a strict curfew. You never got to watch the beauty of the nightfall.
Soon, every plants and living beast should light up. You already notice the freckles on the siblings body become clearer. You smile softly. You feel good, at peace. You could stay here forever. It's like you're finally connected to Eywa.
The suns are moving slowly and you're hypnotized by them all, a smile pulling at your lips.
Even if lost in your trance, movements from your left grabs your attention. Spider's thigh is suddenly pressed against yours. You search for his eyes, to see any emotion or reaction explaining you his behaviour but his eyes are solely staring at the sun before you. Why did he move so much closer ?
You shrug, thinking that you're cold anyway and a little of human warmth won't do harm. So you ignore his shenanigans, opting to concentrate fully on the sight. You're lucky to live on such a pretty planet. Even when now, it's a foot that set itself under your leg, taking you once again away from your thoughts.
"Spider?" you ask this time.
Because his foot slided under your sick leg and as it's a somewhat private part of you, you're surprised by the contact. Spider looks at you and smile, his head falling on his shoulder as he held every star of the night in his eyes. Even through the mask, you could see how prettily shiny they were.
You never saw him so comfortable, but when you really think about it, you can't remember much of the time you spent together. It was so long ago. Maybe he was comfortable like that with you before.
Frowning, you stare at your now tangled legs. This is getting weirdly intimate. Just this morning, he was avoiding you like death and now he's craving physical attention? But when you look into his eyes, you can't find any answers.
It's not new, though. You remember when you were little, you were always asking yourself; What is he thinking ? He always has been unpredictable and impossible for you to decipher.
But you stay still, letting him do his things. Because you missed all of this.
"Where is Earth ?" asks Tuk to one of her siblings.
You realize it's the first time you hear them talk and remember their presence. Lo'ak is the one to answer. He points to a really really far star in the sky and you follow his direction. Earth ? That's where you come from ? You're sure it's beautiful out there, too.
Feeling confidence running through his veins, Spider finally glides his hand to lay it on yours, putting his fingers between yours on the ground.
"Do you think there is a deity like ours on Earth?" asks Kiri and your blood run cold.
Kiri, Spider's lover. She's just beside you. You hope she did not see that. You forgot they were together. As if an electricity shock cross your body from head to toe, you push his hand away and move your leg out of his hold, in your rush, you hit it against the ground and whimper.
Spider try to touch your leg, probably worried about your health but you don't want him to touch you anymore.
"What are you doing ? you ask, throwing worried glances to Kiri who wasn't looking. He halts his hand in the air before retracting it silently.
-I... Nothing. Sorry." he's deeply confused. But you are more.
His head turns in the opposite direction of your, his body language telling you he's terribly tense. What is he doing ? Why was he all over you ? What the hell was that ?
Is he seriously flirting with you? When Kiri is barely one person away from you ! He probably doesn't know you're aware of his relationship with her and is trying to get in your pants. Thinking that hurt your heart deeply. Staring at him nervously wrapping his fingers around the plants, you're not so sure he's a cheater.
No, you conclude. He would never play with her heart like this.
But he changed with years. He was a man now. Maybe he wasn't the Spider you used to know, after all. No, you need to stop imagining things. You just need to talk to him, understand his thoughts. Spider is nice. He probably changed but not like this. You can't even force yourself to believe Spider would be a bad person.
The rest of the eclipse, you didn't get to enjoy it as much as you wanted. Too preoccupied by your boiling mind. And soon, it was already time for everyone to get back home.
Your little group stands up, the siblings and Spider talking excitedly together. Spider was still by your side though. You were thankful that even despite the awkward situation you two were in minutes prior, he was still making sure you weren't being left out.
After some time, you noticed that Spider wasn't trying to be part of the conversation anymore, his steps were slowing down. He tentatively looked at you and your eyes met his.
"Are you mad at me ? he finally asks.
-No. You say, because you truly were not. Just confused.
-Confused about what ? I thought I was pretty clear back there.
-Your intentions were indeed pretty clear, don't worry about that. I just... It's really low of you to do that with Kiri just beside us.
-What does Kiri have to do with this?
You hate that he's playing dumb. And you get more frustrated the more you're talking to him. By now, you two stopped walking, standing in the middle or the forest without moving.
-I don't like you playing with her. You should stop.
Spider's eyes widen, he steps back a little, looking agape. His lips forms words but no sound come out of it. Why is he so surprised ? Isn't it logical for him to settle to one person ? Why does he look like he just got a world's revelation ?
-You thought I mated with Kiri ? asks Spider in a voice so high pitched you're sure the whole forest heard.
The three siblings before you stops in their track and look at you two, surprised faces on all of them before Lo'ak burst out laughing hearing your conversation, as well as Tuk.
There is a long silence between you and the boy only disrupted by the never stopping laugh of the two omaticaya. The girl approaches you slowly. You feel so stupid, you might die from shame. He wasn't playing dumb, the two really weren't together.
Spider turns pale. Kiri looks him up and down before pretending to vomit.
-What ? Me ? With this thing? she says, disgust lacing her words.
You want someone to bury you seven feet under ground.
-Same thing for me ! Spider screams. Everyone, but her!
-He is literally the spitting image of Lo'ak! Why would I mate with him?
-I… I don't know. I always see you guys stuck together so I figured…
You now realize how stupid your reasoning looks. Yes, they spend lot of time together, but so do a family.
-She's not even funny ! She's the worst person to be with !
-Shut up !" Kiri says, pushing Spider strongly. The boy manages to impress you by not moving a lot despite the strength of the Na'vi girl by his side.
Seeing their bother sister dynamic, you instantly knew that they weren't lying. You even wonder how you could ever think of them as a couple.
You feel a lot better knowing Spider was still kind. And knowing you did not betray Kiri. Relief flood in you. Maybe your boy is still as kind as before.
Lo'ak, Kiri and their little sister then decided to head back home after accompanying you to the lab. Tuk was tired, she was being carried on her brother's back while Kiri was in her own head. Spider was much more awake. He was eagerly talking your ear off about some of his craziest adventures with the Sullys.
For a moment, you were at peace.
You had your old friend back, new people next to you who, you hope, you'll soon be able to call friends. The thought of the discussion you and Spider would definitely have later wasn't even plaguing your mind. You were having fun. It was perfect.
As soon as you arrived back at the lab, apprehension was all you could feel. What if it's the last time you see them ? What if they don't want to be your friends ?
They dropped you off at the entrance of the base. Tuk was still sleepy and she mumbled something along the line of 'Goodnight' before going back to her asleep state.
You thanked them, told them you had a great night and they started to leave, not before some farewells.
Lo'ak whispering a 'good luck bro' to Spider which you clearly heard despite him trying to be quiet, he gave him a pat on the back before stepping back. Kiri smiles at you softly then sticks out her tongue at Spider with a teasing look.
As much as this whole scene was cute, your leg was starting to hurt and you needed to sit down quickly before losing your balance.
You wave at the Sully, finally watching their back heading to their home. You're sleepy, but something is preventing you from really falling asleep right then and there: You still have questions.
If he's not with Kiri, that means he was flirting with you. Crafting you a bracelet, wanting you to spend the rest of the day with him, trying to be skin to skin against you; that's flirting, right ? That's what they do in books anyway.
Spider opens the heavy door of the lab for you, you wait for the air to be cleaned before taking off your mask. You hurry to find a seat nearby. What is it now ? Are you friends ?
There is no sound in the whole lab and the mood stresses you. You're alone with him, you can't ignore the awaiting conversation you'll eventually have. Spider grabs a glass of water that he set on the table for you to drink.
You thanks him lowly. He sits on a chair on the other end of the table, facing you. He taps his nails on his chair nervously while you avoid his gaze by staring at your shoes.
"So..." he starts.
Your heart's beating quicken because you don't know what to expect. You're scared. But knowing that Spider is as frightened as you reassures you at the same time.
"Did you have fun ? Tonight ?
-Yeah, it was nice. The sky was pretty. Thank you.
-Cool, cool. It's nice to know."
Spider scratch his head, eyes boring holes into the ground. But he stopped his movements and sighs, brows frowning and creating a crease on his forehead.
"I'm an idiot. He resumes. I don't know why I left you. He stays silent for a while, you let him find his word, desperately wanting to hear his point of view. I guess I was scared. Maybe even ashamed.
Ashamed ? Ashamed of you ? This conversation will really end you if he continues this way.
-Scared because... I don't want you to like me just because I'm your only option. I was scared to think I liked you just because you were the only kid my race I've ever known. At your frown, he smiles bitterly. Yeah, I like you. But now I'm sure it's not because we're the only two human the same age.
You're stunned. Astonished, even. Your mouth is mid open, your eyes are wide. You stopped breathing a few seconds ago. Is he joking ? How does Spider, the guy who stopped talking to you years ago, confesses his love to you? How is he asking the same questions you asked yourself times and times again ?
-And ashamed because I don't want to be human anymore. I want to be a Na'vi, an omaticaya. A true one ! And you, the lab, are reminding me of who I really am. I guess I didn't like that. A long silence spaces his confession, you trying to process everything and him, searching his words. But at the same time, back then I thought that as long as you were with me, I wouldn't mind staying human, you know? But it's a lot of thoughts in a fifteen years old's mind and I just panicked, I guess.
Tears are quickly filling your eyes, you're speechless. You've been waiting for him to explain himself for so long and finally it was happening. You want to cry because it's the first time someone is openly telling you about their emotions, you want to cry because you have no choice but to confront your own emotions now. But you don't know how to handle them. You wipe aggressively your eyes, trying to make it look like you got something in it, you know Spider is not believing it but you still try to hide.
He'd stay human for you ?
-I have no excuses. I'm just an idiot. You never deserved to be left alone. And...And It's okay if you're a little broken because you're wonderful. It balances out. He says on a lighter note at the end.
And his silly confession made you smile. As stupid as it sounded. Because how is this his first words after years of mutual avoidance ? He just can't be serious. You're overwhelmed, you thought this day was going to be like every other day. None of this was planned. You don't know how to react.
-You won't forgive me right away, I know it. But I'm ready to wait. I'm... Kiri taught me how to sew. I-I can sew you clothes, jewelry, even a shawl. And I'm much stronger now, I can bring you everywhere. I'll make you visit lot of pretty places. I'll carry you.
You don't like that his offer is so tempting to you. Because you would have liked to make him wait, make him understand how hurt you are. As selfish as that sound, you just wanted for him to sympathize.
-Not even in a romantic way, we-we can just be friends, just like before. It'd be really nice.
Yes, it'd really be nice. You don't want to wait anymore. You missed him, your friend, so much.
-Why today ?
-What ?
-Why did you choose to come see me today? What pushed you to do so?
He chuckles, crossing his arms on his chest and staring at the ground.
-Lo'ak and Kiri forced me. Because I've actually been crafting you things for years but never gave them to you. He lacked courage. But they thought I did. They discovered it somehow and started reproaching it to me and told me that if I did not come talk to you to apologize, they would do it themselves.
Really now ? You're curious? Why has he been crafting you so much ? Okay, you think. You're ready to open your heart a little bit, just for him. But not entirely ! He has to work for it. He has to wait a little as well. Because, well, he never forgot about you. And that's enough for you to let your guards down.
You'll have to thank Lo'ak and Kiri next time you see them at the lab. You owe them.
-So ? Can I have another chance?"

Could I request spider x gn reader where reader as general anxiety and was human but got put in an avatar body indefinitely because they were dying it traumatised them and sometimes they dissociate a bit because of it and when they get kidnapped they get really anxious and stressed and they stay close to spider but when they get separated they stay closer to quaritch due to him reminding them of spiderthey self sooth by sucking there thumb, if it could just be fluffy please, thank you hope you have a good day/night
Absolutely! Thank you so much for your request <3
I don't know if this is anything close to what you had envisioned when sending your request, but it was so much fun to write. The reader maybe reads a bit more traumatized than what you asked for, but their dynamic with Quaritch was just too good to lose out on, so... <3
You're alright, kiddo...
2074 words
SFW / Platonic Spider & gn!Reader + Quaritch & gn!Reader (blink and you’ll miss it Sider & Quaritch) Tw: gn!Reader, terminal illness before being transferred into an avatar, anxious reader, PTSD, thumb sucking as self-comforting, disassociating, selective mutism, food/eating, Quaritch is soft and kind to the kids (fight me lol)
You didn’t know what hit you when all of a sudden, your queue was grabbed hard and you were pulled backward. The Sully kids and Spider all screamed and hissed as they too were taken, but as you were all forced to your knees, all you could focus on was the huge man that sauntered into the little group, his sneer sending chills down your spine. You try your best to stay quiet, to cooperate, just like Jake Sully had always taught the kids to do, but you could feel yourself slipping.
“What’s wrong with…” The big man, the Colonel, asked the Na’vi behind you when you started shaking.
“Them,” Spider barked, fighting the hold on his own hair.
“Uh-huh…” The Colonel hummed lazily, “What’s wrong with them?”
“They’re afraid, alright, so step away and give them some space already,” Spider sneers back, still fighting his hold.
“Nice try, kid,” The Colonel huffs before turning his back on you to focus on Lo’ak instead.
You don’t register what’s being said or what happens. The only thing you know is that it’s getting darker and then, Neytiri calls out to her children. Relief floods you as you realize that you’ll be saved, that you’ll get to sleep in your own nest and be with your own people. The next thing you register is running as loud noises and flashes of light bombard you from all sides. Neytiri and Jake are both shouting, and the Colonel answers them with a cold chuckle. Your hand is grabbed hard as Spider pulls you along from your cowering position by a tree, the undergrowth disappearing quickly as you get to higher ground, seemingly running for your life. There’s a loud noise behind you, a flash of orange light, and then everything goes dark.
-
“Y/n? Y/n, are you alright?” Spider’s voice calls to you, but your ears are ringing so loudly, you just whine in response.
This was easily ten times worse than waking up in your new avatar body ever had been. The memory, however, still makes you nauseous. You had never wanted to be transferred into this avatar body, yet, here you were while your own body was somewhere else entirely. Maybe you should have been happy that you got this second chance, but living with the Na’vi, with the scientists, after you were abandoned on Pandora, was anything but easy. You didn’t quite fit into the Na’vi way of life. You were weak, quiet, anxious… Yet, somehow stuck there with them all.
“Hey, Y/n, come on back to me,” Spider urged, making you open your eyes, only to quickly close them again.
The lights were so bright in the room you were in, the floor cold and rough against your skin. You didn’t know how long you had been out or how much time had passed since you were taken. The only thing you knew was that Neytiri and Jake weren’t here, that this wasn’t home or anywhere close to it. You were sitting below a huge table with Spider, the older boy holding you close as he tried to connect with you.
“Listen up, kid,” The Colonel hums as he steps into the room, the massive glass doors swishing open and then shut, “The deal is this; we gotta learn how to do this Na’vi stuff. Now, I know you said you won’t betray the Sullys, and I respect that. But I need an answer,”
“What if I don’t have an answer for you?” Spider spits back, the distaste so clear in his voice.
“Then I gotta give you back to the lab coats,” The Colonel drawls before pinning Spider with a look, “They’re asking for you both this time,”
“Guess there’s not much of a choice then,” Spider huffs angrily as he crosses his arms above his chest.
“Guess there ain’t,” The Colonel smiles smugly before mirroring Spider and crossing his own arms over his chest. “So who’s your friend there?”
“They’re one of the orphans from the village,” Spider starts, stepping before you to block the Colonel’s way. “Their body got sick some years ago, so the scientists made them an avatar so that they could survive,”
The Colonel hums before sucking his teeth, his crossed arms shifting his hold before he looks past Spider to where you still sit under the table. His eyes make your skin crawl with the way you feel as if he sees straight through you. The need to be closer to Spider, closer to someone safe, eventually forces you to reach out for the older boy. The end of his tweng is what you grab a hold of, the worn material grounding in its own way as it’s stuck to Spider’s person.
“You’re scaring them, skxawng,” Spider sighs as he steps closer to the table so that you don’t have to stretch your arms out to him.
The Colonel stares at Spider for a long while before stepping back and getting down to one knee with a heavy grunt. Resting his arms on his bent knee, he leans forward, eyes looking for yours. They’re sharp and calculating, but to your surprise, they’re filled with curiosity instead of the cruelty you were expecting.
“You alright there, kiddo?” The Colonel asks, his voice husky.
“They don’t speak much,” Spider sighs, but the Colonel doesn’t pay him any mind.
Unable to meet his eyes, you nod your head instead. The way he looks at you is stressing you out, your anxiety levels rising steadily as he stares. Eventually, he gets up on his feet, mumbling something to Spider before the doors swish open and shut again. It doesn’t take long before Spider’s head bends down to look at you too, his smile gentle.
“Still good, Y/n?” He asks while squatting down to your level.
“Yeah,” You croak, your throat tight, “Thanks,”
“Don’t know if you heard it, but we’re moving out later,” Spider explains slowly, making sure that each word registers, “He’s getting us some food, are you hungry?”
“I’m starving,” In time with your words, your stomach rumbles loudly, making Spider chuckle as a grin spreads on his face.
“I guess you are,” Spider hums before getting up again.
This time though, he takes your hand, squeezing it tightly as he sits on the tabletop. It’s an awkward position to sit in with your hand raised like that, but when he squeezes it, it settles something within you, making your anxiety dissipate somewhat. You don’t notice it when you start drifting, but when you come to again, the Colonel is sitting in the corner by the door as he chats with Spider. The older boy is still holding your hand while he eats with his other. He’s seemingly enjoying the conversation, his face breaking out in a grin as he chuckles at the Colonel.
“Ah, there they are,” The Colonel hums, his sharp eyes greeting yours when you look up at him, “Brought you some food,”
The Colonel's eyes turn almost gentle as his eyes drop to the thumb in your mouth, his head tilting curiously as his ears rotate toward you. Immediately, you pull your thumb out, clenching your hand around it as you feel your face heat. The Colonel tuts, his husky voice gentle when he speaks again.
“It’s alright to suck your thumb, kiddo,” He hums, his eyebrows furrowing in deep thought for a moment. “Does it make you feel better? Safer?”
Nodding your head, you’re unable to see his expression. The Colonel hums gently and just like that, the room falls silent. Spider hands you what surprisingly turns out to be diced yovo fruit and sure enough, when you put the first cube in your mouth, the sweetness of the fruit explodes. Humming with happiness, you chew the cubed fruit until you’re full, eventually daring a low “Thank you, Sir,” which earns you another one of those gentle smiles.
As far as kidnappings go, you guess this one isn’t the worst. You’re treated well and the recoms, the entire unit, do what they can to protect both Spider and you. It’s probably why it takes you by complete surprise when the angry General pushes the recom unit out on a mission they’re not yet ready to embark on. For the past few months, Spider has been teaching the recom unit the Na’vi way, preparing them for what Pandora had to throw their way once they were alone in the jungle that surrounded the area. Apparently, the General had been fed up with waiting, her angry narrowed eyes demanding results that even you knew wouldn’t come.
Still, the recom unit obeyed the orders, which was what led you to be in the situation you were now in. Distressed and spiraling, sucking your thumb for comfort, you crouch by the hollow opening of a tree root as the furious thanator the recom unit had stepped upon runs around the area, furiously protecting its territory. In the chaos that erupted when it attacked, Spider lost the hold on your hand, his body being pushed away from yours as the recoms pushed at the two of you to move forward, shouting for you to run, to get away. It hadn’t taken long before you were separated, each one of you spread around the forest as you tried to escape the predator.
Before you know it, you’re pulled out of your hiding spot, strong, huge arms wrapping tightly around you as you’re gathered up to wrap your legs around a strong waist. Locking your legs behind the recom’s back, you cling to him as if your life depends on it as he takes the both of you through the forest, sprinting further and further away until suddenly, the thanator stops and turns, the intruders - you - out of its territory. Breathing heavily, the recom cups the back of your head, pressing your face into the crook of his shoulder as he comes to a stop.
“You’re alright, kiddo…” Quaritch rasps, his voice windy as he turns in circles, “You’re alright,”
“Are you hurt?” The question registers, but you’re unable to reply to it, your heart still racing in your chest.
“Y/n, are you hurt?” Quaritch asks again, this time more gently, but with an underlying urgency.
When you still can’t reply, he gently peels you off of him, sitting you down on a rock as he checks for injuries. Eventually, when he’s pleased, you’re lifted up into his arms again. Quaritch’s own heart is beating frantically, even through his vest, but that doesn’t stop him from reacting. His first priority seems to be to get you as high up in the air as possible, something that doesn’t come easy when they haven’t trained much on climbing. At least he isn’t wearing the boots anymore, which makes the whole thing a little bit easier. Only when he’s reached the highest branches does he stop to sit down, his long legs spread on each side of the thick branch as he takes a moment to just breathe.
“Iron Sky, Blue one, actual,” Quaritch rumbles as he presses the device on his neck, “Requesting extraction,”
You listen as he talks to whoever is on the other side, the hums and grunts rumbling through his chest as you try your best to calm your nerves. A big hand cups your head, gently pressing it to Quaritch’s chest, making you look up into sharp yellow eyes. There’s a soft smile on his lips as he looks down at you before he looks out over the jungle below. There are sounds all around you from smaller animals, birds chirping as they communicate in the neighboring trees, no doubt telling each other about the two Na’vi in their territory.
Taking a deep breath, you relax your head against Quaritch’s chest before letting it out. Although you know that he’s a bad man, you can’t help but feel safe as his arms hold you protectively against him, making sure that nothing or no one can hurt you. Your feet hurt and you’re tired, sleepy even. Lifting the hand closest to Quaritch to your lips, you gently slip your thumb into your mouth. It’s immediately soothing in a way you have never been able to explain, and when his thumb starts stroking your head where he cups it, it doesn’t take long before your eyes close and then… you sleep safely wrapped up in protective arms.

--- human's period ☆゚.*・。゚
platonic!various x gn!human!reader
!! in my hc, na'vi women doesn't menstruate !!
jake and your friends takes care of you during your time of the month. basically just period comfort with momma jake
part 1 part 2!
"they. peed. blood"
spider's terrified screech brings jake one thought;
periods.
and he was dammed right.
the moment he stepped into your marui, he found the kids circling around your bed. their faces contorted with worry yet suffers from cluelessness because they could only watch as you curl yourself into a ball. hand clutching your stomach as you cry into kiri’s lap.
his eyes darted to the blanket under your legs, wich were soaked with blood. jake clicks his tongue with sympathy, "poor baby"
your friends moved back, forming a circle behind jake as they watch him kneel on your bedside.
“this your first period?”
“yes. my... my second day, sir” you whimpered out a weak answer.
“they never left their marui until noon, and we found them like this”
“i never knew periods could get this worst”
“did they got shot?”
you were overwhelmed.
the staring, the murmurs, your marui being crowded. having to experience all of that stimulations mixed with your cramps, made you shake. jake could feel it once he puts his hand on your upper arm.
“will they die?”
“they wont, spider”
“bro, how do you know?”
“shh!”, finally neteyam hisses
even neteyam understand that their questions were all honest, yet stupid that jake doesn’t even spare them any care. his full attention is fixed on your vulnerable state.
“no, kiddo. don’t curl yourself up like that”
“it hurts", you groaned. another wave of pain shakes your entire body.
“baby, squeezing your stomach like that wouldn’t make it any better. lay normally”
“they would move if they can, dad”
kiri's words made his gaze soften. he could see your tiny body jerks slightly with every wave of pain that goes through you. you were sobbing, yet no sound comes out of your mouth
“im gonna help you, okay sweetie?”, jake gives your upper arm a comforting squeeze, “we’re gonna get through this together”
the warmth he offers makes you nod weakly. jake smiles, satisfied with your response. then he turned his head towards his daughter,
“do you have medicine for muscle cramps?” the girl looks at her father, clueless. but the confidence in jake’s voice sounds like he knows what he was doing. with that, kiri nods surely.
“i could come out with something”
“good”
kiri waves her hand at tsireya, signaling her to come closer. ever so gently, the beautiful metkayina moved your head to her lap so the sully could run off and complete her father’s demand
jake puts his other hand on tsireya's shoulder, “you stay to help them clean up, okay? and neteyam” his head turns towards his eldest, “get us warm water, son”
“yes, sir”
“what can we do?” lo’ak asks as his brother went running
“you boys could help, by giving them space”
your watery eyes met with jake's, whispering a weak thank you as your marui, at last, went quiet.
if jake had let them inside longer, you would’ve broke down because even with them being outside, their noises still fills your head
“what is this period? a disease?”
“you see spider, the female human body-”
tsireya could only sigh, “they are good friends, worrying over you like that. but they were being too loud"
"you're right kiddo. now its all quieted down, lets get you cleaned up, yeah?”
"yeah..."
not long after you could feel his warm hands coming down. lifting you up by behind your knees and back. you might think that your weight would have weighted him down, but to jake, it was like carrying a mere child
“tsireya, please get the blanket for me. oh good, the blood doesn't soak up your bed”
“i put the blanket there so when i leak, my bed doesn’t get soaked”, you grin
“great thinking”, tsireya chuckles. but her laugh quickly died out.
you were whimpering in pain.
jake was only settling you down on your bed, yet you look so hurt. “sorry sweetie”, jake whispers after you flinched some more. the man was just straightening your stiffen limbs
the girl approaches you, giving your hand a comforting squeeze.
“everything’s sore, hm?” jake tucks your bangs behind your ears as you nod helplessly.
“i guess i'll wash my blanket after i get better”
“no, you stay here” he ruffles your hair, standing up and grabs your bloody blanket from tsireya’s grasps.
“jake, you don’t have to”
he laughs, “kiddo. if you’ve raised 4 children, you’ve cleaned worst”
“but its gross”
jake looks at you with confusion. why do you have to bring yourself down like that, for something as natural as breathing? he bites his lip. he remembers someone who would insist that he doesn’t need to help wash her ‘dirty’ bloody blankets.
oh how you remind him of her.
he went back to his previous position, kneeling beside you. golden eyes fixed on yours.
“baby, what’s dirty could be cleaned. after all, what’s so dirty about blood?”
you went silent.
“period blood are as natural as snots, tears, and other body fluid you have. so, no biggie, yeah?”
“no... biggie” you repeated after him. a small smile on your lips
“atta girl” jake grins, his hand went up to wipe away your last tear. “i'm gonna wash this. and while i'm gone, tsireya will help you get cleaned up, okay?” and with your nod, he smiles and walk off.
he was about to step out to the beach, but tsireya’s worried call stopped him.
“will they be okay?”
“they will, kiddo" jake shoots her an assuring smile, "they are in good hands”
and he was right.
the second he walked back to your marui, he couldn’t help to stop on his tracks. your marui was filled with joyful chatter, meaning you were getting better. and he could hear laughing too. your laughs
“bro, i thought you were dying”
“oh please”
“no offence, but you do look like you were dying” jake recognize that voice. it was spider’s
then rotxo’s iconic snickers was heard,
“when ya called jake, what was the shit ya told him? somethin' bout them peein’ out blood?”
“spider!” you exclaimed, voice full of embarrassment
“oh, cmon boys. leave them alone”
jake’s chuckle startled all of you.
your marui went silent again. even rotxo shuts his mouth.
you never knew why, but the sudden awkwardness coming over every time jake steps in is unbearable. maybe it happens because none of you were used to the usually strict man being so loose.
“i... uh, i’ve washed your blanket. should dry by tomorrow”
“thank you” you smile at him. jake returned your smile.
your friends are around you, again. but this time, you didn’t seem to bother. you were enjoying they company, even. they were all sitting down near your bedside with empty bowls around their feet.
good, they had feed you
his eyes drift to your side where he found neteyam, pressing a small water sack on your stomach. presumably filled with warm water. but the ceramic mug you were holding catches his attention the most.
the mug was filled to the brim with liquid that smells almost sour. he recognize it. and its strong yellow color, brings him back home.
“kiri made them drink pee”
“i did not, ao’nung”, the girl rolls her eyes as rotxo’s ugly snort-laugh filled the room.
“hey, i know this”
their laughter died out.
jake kneeled beside you. he was looking into your mug with his gaze so soft and loving, you were afraid he was taking a liking to it.
“there’s tamarind and turmeric in it, right?”
kiri’s mouth went agape, “never knew you know herbs, dad”
“i’m not. but i’ve made this drink all my life”
“when?”
“you see, kid,” he looks at his son with a loving smile he rarely gives. his hand went up to squeeze neteyam’s shoulder.
“back on earth, your uncle tommy and i would make this drink for your gramma, when she was on her period” his golden eyes shows such softness as he gazes back into your drink.
it was just some mere drink, yet it was able to make the former toruk makto and olo’eyktan so soft.
“but of course,” he snickers, “we don’t need to boil real turmerics nor tamarinds. they sell it on instant packages”
no one laughs.
there was one question filling their heads, yet even rotxo’s loud mouth does not dare to ask.
where is she now?
lo’ak cleared his throat. “the period, was she in pain too?”
“yes, her whole body would turn so sore she couldn’t move. my dad was never really around, so tommy and i would be the ones running errands”
“oh, so the whole cramp thing is normal?”
“right, kiddo. that’s why you need all the support you can get during your period” he ruffles your hair, making you giggle.
“i need you all kids to take care of them, you got me? its already hard having periods on earth, its even harder when you are the only one having them, in this whole village”
“yes, sir”
“good. its turning dark. they needs rest" with jake’s words, the boys gives you an acknowledging looks before one by one steps out of your marui. not forgetting to bring their dirty dishes from their previous dinner. the girls however, are squeezing the life out of you with their hugs.
“come to me when your stomach’s all messed up. i would make you that drink again”
“yes, i will kiri”, you giggle.
“you know, if its hurting you too much”, tsireya starts, “maybe i could ask my mother to try to stop your periods”
you laugh, shaking your head at the thought of loosing your uterus, “no, reya. i will not, but thank you”
one last hug and the girls were off
“well, i guess my job here is done” neteyam smiles. he was the only one left beside you. his hand still pressing a water sack to your tummy,
“your trusty hot-water-sack-holder needs to go”
his smile turns brighter when you laugh.
“we should hang out tomorrow, teyam”
“yeah”, he whispers as he press his forehead on yours. a soft smile on his lips. your moment was quickly cut off by muffled laughs, your face went bright red as you realize the rest of them were all still standing near your marui
even his dad.
jake cleared his throat, “cmon, son, lets go”
their laughter broke as soon as neteyam approached them with burning cheeks, and was met with lo’ak’s playful swats on his shoulders that even the tips of his ears went flushed.
they weren’t so far away when you could hear spider’s voice,
“jake, when will i get my period?”
“men doesn’t get periods”
“ah shit... can i though, if i try hard enough?”
“just hold your shit in for a week, then you’ll get a period”
“that’ll be my ass bleeding”
their laughter broke once again. you too, couldn’t help but giggle. upon them, neteyam’s roaring laughter stand out the most. he was just glad they had stopped teasing him.

idk where to put requests bc i barely ask for stuff on here but basically my idea was this. neteyam x human reader that is hella funny. friends to lovers type thing where he feels his responsibilities and stress slip away when hes with them. kiss kiss love confession type thing. gn or fem would be cool mookie
neteyam x human!reader imagine
1.7k words
warnings- sfw, mutual pinning, soft fluff, a little angst ? love confessions
also while writing this it was inspired by in love with you by erykah badu and boogie nights/all night by erykah badu
hanging out with the sullys is always interesting, from going on ikran rides to sneaking on missions. when lo'ak says that you should all go on a ride right before eclipse, neteyam is fast to object.
"come on bro, you know dad is going to slaughter us if we are out at eclipse, lets just go tomorrow."
spider huffs before jumping on lo'aks ikran. god, my brother is such an ass, sometimes i just want to slap him so hard he can't feel his face for a week. i give neteyam a look, us both understanding that the only way to keep our stupid brothers in line is to follow them and keep them safe. he helps me up onto his ikran and we take off after spider and lo'ak, soaring in the calm sunset.
after flying for 10 minutes, spider and lo'ak land somewhere in the floating mountains, neteyam and i follow after them. when we touch down, neteyam picks me up and sets me down; something he loves to do to remind me he’s 3 feet taller than i am.
“fucking skxawng”, i mutter under my breath. before i can even turn around to shoot him a dirty look, he picks me up by my waist with one hand, laughing at me kicking him.
“what was that you just said?” he asks, still laughing at me.
i shoot him the dirtiest glare possible, “ i called you a fucking skxawng, skxawng. now put me down before i rip your braid out.”
neteyam laughs and sets me down, walking away like i huff. we both eventually walk over to spider and lo’ak, sitting beside them and admiring the forrest. we all talk and joke around, laughing about stupid jokes and talking about rumors. we eventually get on the topic of crushes, me teasing spider about his growing crush on kiri, neteyam rolling his eyes like lo’ak complains.
“cuz, come on, that’s my sister i don’t need to know that you want to bang her bro. how would that even work anyways, a human and a na’vi??”
i sigh to myself, knowing what lo’ak says about a human being with a na’vi is true and that neteyam and i will probably never grow to something more than just being friends.
little do i know, neteyam is having the same thoughts, wanting and wishing we could be more than friends, when in reality he knows that kissing me is probably off the table because of my exopack.
the conversation between all of us dissipates as we quiet down, all thinking about different things. i stand up and brush my legs off before saying we should head back so we can be home before eclipse. neteyam agrees while our brothers sigh with “do we have too” and “just like 5 more minutes i swear.”
we eventually all start walking back to the ikrans, lo’ak and spider racing each other. neteyam and i trail behind, talking and shoving each other and laughing. i look at him, the sunset shining on his beautiful blue skin and as it gets darker outside his freckles start shining. i realize that my feelings are futile, but it’s hard to be around the most kind, loyal, protective, beautiful man and not get attached.
i sigh, realizing i have gotten caught up in my own head again. when i look back up at him i see him with a sad smile.
“what’s wrong?” i ask.
“it’s nothing.”
“well it’s got to be something, you’re not usually sad for no reason.”
he sighs and says, “really, it’s nothing. we should try to walk faster so we get back before eclipse.”
he starts walking faster towards the ikrans, making me jog to catch up. i grab his hand and stop walking.
“neteyam, please, don’t keep stuff from me. we are best friends, and when we first became friends you promised to always tell me what’s bothering you.”
“stop digging y/n, i don’t want to talk about it right now. i just want us to laugh and talk like usual right now.”
“just tell me so that i can help you and we can go back to normal.”
“i don’t want to talk about it.”
“nete please-“
“fucking stop y/n, i’m not going going to talk about this with you.”
i stand there shocked, not used to him getting angry. he walks off and i follow after him, confused as to why he’s so mad. i know i shouldn’t have pushed but it’s not like him to be so sad.
when we get back to the ikrans lo’ak and spider immediately notice that something’s off, seeing the look on neteyam’s face. when spider and lo’ak look to me i shrug and shake my head. it’s awkwardly silent before neteyam clears his throat and says, “ y/n, how about you ride with lo’ak and spider rides with me tonight.”
lo’ak and spider both whip around and look to me, about to complain about how it’s never been this way when i just shake my head. spider raises an eyebrow at me but walks over to neteyams ikran anyways. i walk to lo’aks, waiting for his to grab me by the waist to help me but he doesn’t. i climb up, and go to hold onto his waist, but i stop and hold his shoulders.
neteyam and spider take off first, lo’ak and i soon after. we sit in science for a little before he asks, “so what happened?”
i sigh, “he just seemed off. he’s been more distant and sad lately, but i guess that’s just a journey of him becoming a man.”
“yeah well he has been stressed out about the whole ‘becoming a man and choosing a mate’ thing. it’s not like there’s not 20 girls that would die for him to stick it in them,” he snickers.
“ew come on lo’ak that’s disgusting.”
“i mean, i know who im choosing when i become a man.”
“the hottest girl who wants me, duh cuz. i mean that’s skxawng has always been picky, but now it seems like he’s trying to always want what he can’t have.”
“what do you mean?”
“come on cuz, you can’t be that blind. did you notice when he started getting all whiny earlier?”
“no? i mean after we talked i guess?”
“and we talked about what...”
i pause, trying to remember.
“ummmmm we talked about how you wanted to bang that girl we saw that was healing you and neteyam’s dumb asses, we talked about how spider is never going to find a na’vi that wants his tiny ass but let’s be honest, him and kiri totally have something going-“
“no you fucking skxawng we talked about humans and na’vi, then neteyam got all whiny and shit.”
i pause, “so?”
“so who is the human that neteyam spends all his time with?”
i stop.
“you’re saying that neteyam likes me?”
“YES THATS WHAT IVE BEEN SAYING AND YOU CLEARLY LIKE HIM TOO”
i blush and laugh, “ lo’ak, there’s no way he likes me. you said it yourself, he was like 30 hot girls lined up for him.”
“he totally does like you-“
“he totally doesn’t-“
“but you like him anyways. that’s the point, it doesn’t matter if you believe me or not because we all know that you two like each other.”
we ride back home in silence, i think about what he has said. could it neteyam actually like me too? is that why he didn’t want to talk about it with me? i wonder what would even happen if he did, it’s not like we could mate.
when we land at home, i get of lo’aks ikran and thank him for telling me. i walk to my tent and lay down, thinking about how this could change everything. i should probably talk to neteyam about it instead of just mulling it over by myself.
i decide to get up and go talk to him, even though i’m scared that lo’ak could be wrong. i mean, what if i talk to him about it and tell him i like him when he doesn’t even like me back? i stand by his family’s tent, not sure if i should go it on not.
while i’m standing there thinking, i don’t notice that neteyam walked up behind me. he taps me on the shoulder and when i turn around i see that it’s him.
“hi.”
“hey?” he says, nervously scratching his neck.
“i think we need to talk, i was about to go in and ask for you.”
“i told you i don’t want to talk about it-“
“lo’ak told me you have a crush on me.”
he stares down at me with wide eyes. i can see his cheeks turn purple as he blushes and he opens and closes his mouth, trying to say something. i grab his hand, my small one grabbing on to 3 of his fingers. i walk us over to my tent, thankfully lo’ak must have gotten spider to stay away for a little.
when we go inside my tent, neteyam looks so nervous that you would think i’m trying to shoot him. he starts rambling, “ listen i don’t know why lo’ak would tell you that because i don’t have a crush on you i mean, you’re my bestfriend that would be kind of weird right? i mean not to say that you’re not funny or pretty, because you definitely are but even if i did like you, i mean how would that even work, i’m na’vi and you’re human and we probably would even be able to kiss because of your exopack and-“
i cut him off, “neteyam, i like you.”
“you do?”
“yeah, i do.”
“but why me, why not lo’ak? or anyone else?”
i look at the floor, “because i don’t want lo’ak. i want you. i want your smile and how funny you are. i want to talk to you and go on your ikran with you. you understand me like no one else. i see you nete.”
i feel a his hand on my chin, guiding me to look up at him. he hugs me, my forehead on his chest.
“i see you y/n,” he says, kissing the top of my head.

𝐒𝐚𝐦𝐞 𝐒𝐨𝐮𝐥, 𝐃𝐢𝐟𝐟𝐞𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐁𝐨𝐝𝐲. | Neteyam Sully
𝐫𝐞𝐪𝐮𝐞𝐬𝐭 : Hi, I was wondering if you could write a Neteyamxhuman!reader where the reader takes the bullet for Neteyam, so they transport her soul to her avatar and they become really emotional upon waking up and seeing her human body, dead and they all (sully family and metkayina clan) have a funeral for her human body. Neteyam comforts her and mourns with her??
𝐩𝐚𝐢𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐠𝐬 : neteyam x human!reader (eventual na'vi!reader. sully family x reader, ronal x reader (platonic).

𝐰𝐚𝐫𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠𝐬 : atwow spoilers, blood, funeral, angst, mourning/grief, eventual fluff, gsw, death, detailed descriptions of pain/slipping in and out of consciousness, seizure.
𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐝𝐜𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐭 : 5.6k words
𝐭𝐚𝐠𝐥𝐢𝐬𝐭 : @odessa-is-my-queen
closely helped me through writing this so here is something to listen to if you want to get even more immersed ↷
𝐘𝐎𝐔 𝐖𝐄𝐑𝐄𝐍'𝐓 𝐒𝐔𝐏𝐏𝐎𝐒𝐄𝐃 𝐓𝐎 𝐁𝐄 𝐓𝐇𝐄𝐑𝐄. That's the only thought that had been drilled into his mind ever since your body had struggled to stay afloat after jumping off the ship.
The once crystal clear blue waters were now tainted with an angry scarlet colour. Neteyam did not know what the source of it was. His heart had sunken, missing a beat when your head had not popped out of the water to cheer with the rest of them.
"Wait, where's Y/n?" Neteyam, panted as he tried to catch his breath.
Prior to all this, he had expressed how you should have gone back to Awa'atlu. But your eyes had a fire that even he couldn't shoot down. His family by definition was yours as well. You just couldn't sit this one out, not this time.
Your struggled gasps answered his question, your head bobbing back underwater only to resurface seconds later.
"Nete, I think I've been shot." You groaned in pain, as you struggled to stay afloat.
"You are such a skxawng, Y/n!" Neteyam cried, immediately swimming over to your side as he helped hold your much smaller body up.
"Hey, that's not nice." You tried to retort jokingly, only to cough up blood right after you had finished your sentence.
You weren't supposed to be there. Your link machine was experiencing issues, Norm was fixing it. Tuk, and Kiri, had brought you out to the ocean as you waited. You've been begging to see baby Ilu's ever since the Metkayina clan allowed you, Norm, and Max to stay behind after Kiri's seizure. Now seemed like the perfect time to do so, but they couldn't have been more wrong about their decision.
When you three had seen Lo'ak rushing off to warn Payakan about the tracker. Your friends not trailing too far behind him, you all joined too. You believed Lo'aks words from before, you didn't know such brutal consequences would come from such actions.
It was you and Neteyam who fled to drop the tracker further away, only to witness in horror as your friends were trapped in a net, being lifted by Ikrans and dropped on the large ship.
Only months ago were you all held captive, but the stakes are larger than life now. You were horrified. Neteyam curated a plan, only on the ship to cut them out of their restraints. Then you'd all head back together. But Lo'ak wanted to save Spider, and a sky-person turned Na'vi was blocking your freedom back into the water.
You weren't supposed to be there. He thought he got you out there safely, how stupid of him to think that.
His amber eyes caught sight of your gunshot wound when he and Lo'ak pulled you on top of Tsireya's Ilu. His world was crumbling around him, and all he could do was apply pressure.
"It hurts!" You grunted, the pain like nothing you've ever experienced before.
"I know, I know. I'm so sorry, Y/n." Neteyam shushed you, trying to give you some comfort while calming his own worries.
His father's words began to repeat in his mind from the training lessons he used to teach his kids when they were far younger. This one focused on sky-people and the type of weapons they use. The damage it can cause.
"Son, a bullet wound is deadly - only if there is an exit wound."
How did a bullet even hit you? It should have been him. Now he felt like he was paying the price.
Neteyam cursed to himself, yaymak.
"We must bring Y/n back! They can help them there!" Lo'ak interjected, trying to get everyone's attention. He was worried for his friend who wasn't even in their Avatar body. The tensions were through the skies that gloomed down on you all.
Tsireya, clutching onto her dear friend for life - nodded hastily. Yipping at her Ilu, they made haste back to their village.
Neteyam previously thought his greatest loss was the time he missed out with you. But now there was a chance of truly losing all of you. He couldn't bare the weight that train of thought held over him.
When his parents had told them that they'd have to leave all they'd ever known. He knew you wouldn't follow in their footsteps. They didn't even have a foolproof plan. And it would be too dangerous for you, your avatar was not ready yet.
He wanted to stay, but his family needed him now - more than ever before. They wouldn't allow it anyway.
"I will wait for you, Nete." You had told him, speaking so softly. Your words were full of warmth, full of promise. You sounded so sure, and it reassured him so much. He was utterly devoted to every fiber of your being. You already encompassed his entire mind. Each decision he had been making lately that would benefit his future, always circled back to you.
If he closed his eyes he'd still remember every minor detail of that day. The day he had to say goodbye. It was gutwrenchingly beautiful.
You stood on a tree trunk, and he wanted to curse Ewya for having to make humans wear masks. Because as your tiny hands grasped his face, his fists clenched in sheer desperation to caress yours. But he couldn't, not with that damned mask in the way.
Instead he opted for tucking a stray braid behind your ear, leaning down to place a kiss on your forehead. His hands hovered over yours above his face, before grasping them. You'd never get over how they dwarfed yours, how it felt to bask in his warmth. It felt like a reminder from Ewya that you were destined to be together.
You could see the tears he was trying not to shed, and feel the way his hands were slightly shaking. His ears laid flat, tail hung low. And it felt like a punch in the gut, a harsh reminder of not knowing when he would come back here.
The fear of not knowing when you'd be in each other's presence again.
His gaze kept traveling between every feature of your face. The boy did not have any artistic ability in his bones, but he'd be utterly dumb to not remember every minute detail that he had fallen for.
This wasn't earth, there were no devices that could reach as far as they were hoping to go. No mailing system. They'd have to rely on their trust for one another this time.
With purpose, you held his chin. "I. Will. Wait. For. You." You had annunciated every word.
Determination flickered in his eyes, and his hands held onto your mask, the part that covered your cheeks. You blushed, he'd never done that before.
"I will wait for you, Y/n." He declared as his forehead met yours.
"Come on, bro!" Y/n suddenly said, wait what?
His shoulders were being shaken, and he was brought back into the harsh reality.
"Hop on!" Lo'ak tugged on his arm, as he and Spider waited for him. Neteyam swung himself onto his Ilu. They raced back to shore.
He briefly saw Ronal ushering a member of the Metkayina clan who was holding his Y/n, into a mauri.
He started to head towards them with Spider when he realised Lo'ak wasn't following. He quickly turned around and beckoned him over, only to witness him hopping back on his Ilu.
"What are you doing?" Neteyam hissed at him.
"I have to go back for Tuk and Kiri! They are still there, mum and dad as well." Lo'ak explained.
"I'm coming with you." Spider walked back over, Lo'ak wanted to argue about it - but knew they didn't have time.
He could see the conflict in his older brother's eyes.
"I got this brother. I know that doesn't feel reassuring. because I usually don't. But this is our family, I won't fuck this up." Lo'ak insisted, he didn't want to risk a slim chance of potentially losing anyone else.
"Lo'ak...-" Neteyam tried to change his younger brother's mind.
"Please, trust me. You're going to regret not being here if Y/n gets worse." Lo'ak contested, he knew he was right.
Neteyam shut his eyes, taking in a deep breath. Contemplating his choices, he knew what he had to do.
"Go, but be alert. This isn't a raid back home!" Neteyam said.
Lo'ak nodded in acknowledgment, turning his Ilu and heading back to the ship in the distance along with Spider.
When they were nothing but a speck in the distance, he quickly rushed over to the mauri he saw Y/n and Ronal enter.
He rushed in, his heart somersaulting at the sight before him. You were pale, too pale. Your chest barely rises up and comes back down. He could tell you were on the verge of losing consciousness.
"Please mother, let me ask for the humans!" Tsireya begged as she continued to try to stop the bleeding.
"Fine, go get them." Ronal allowed it, continuing to do her ritual.
Tsireya was about to get up, but Neteyam stopped her.
"I can do it." He mumbled.
He made sure his comms were on the channel that had a connection with both his parents, Norm, and Max.
"Norm, Max.-" his voice choked up.
"I don't know what you are doing right now, but Y/n is dying. I need you to come to the chief's house, now! I don't- I don't know what you need to bring but just what you can! Please!" Neteyam pleaded as he fell by your side, his fingers running through your hair.
Blood splatter was speckled on the inside of your mask, and you blinked slowly in response to his barely there touch. Gazing up at him, a pained smile graced your face.
"Neteyam, is that you?" You asked.
"It's me, I'm here," Neteyam replied, tearing up at your whimpers of pain.
"We're on our way! Eta is 3 minutes!" Norm's rushed voice sounded through his comms.
"Tell her we are here. I am here." Neytiri's voice sounded forced, holding in the emotions she was truly feeling at that present moment.
"Okay, okay. Mom is with you, she is rooting for you. You hear me, Y/n? We all are!" He hoped his words were giving you strength, he felt like anything he could potentially do wouldn't be enough. Neteyam could only pray to Eywa that his mother would be okay after what she had just heard.
Neytiri loves you like you were her own, to this day she cannot pinpoint why she held such prejudice towards Spider but not you. Maybe because his father killed her own and the fact he had destroyed her clan's sanctuary.
Your mother and father were fierce, in a sense they were seen as warriors through her eyes. Alongside Trudy, they had pioneered the revolution against Colonel Quaritch and his followers. Y/n's mother had worked side by side with Grace, while your father worked on the front lines.
Right before the battle, she had confided in Neytiri.
"I am with child. If anything ever happens to my family, please take care of her." Neytiri took this newfound information in and agreed, deep down only hoping for the best. They were some of Neytiri's and Jake's greatest allies.
But Y/n's father was killed taking a stand, and with too much sorrow in her heart. Y/n's mother carried you to full term. Only to pass away after being with you for the first three months of your life. Neytiri nurtured you alongside Neteyam. She too just like Neteyam, could only pray to Ewya that you'd be okay.
"I'm scared," you spoke so quietly that if he wasn't as close to you as he was. He wouldn't have heard you at all.
"It's okay to be scared, I've got you. You're going to be okay." Neteyam emphasised with you, trying to offer more alleviation to such a dire situation.
"We're here- fuck." Norm cursed, as Max unpacked a few things.
"Nete, I'm tired. I want to go to sleep." Drowsiness was tempting you, and the pain was beginning to fade into nothingness.
"No! You must stay awake!" Neteyam tapped on your mask, but your eyes rolled to the back of your head.
You started to seize.
Ronal and Tsireya continued to chant, as Norm turned her on her side.
"There's too much blood, Max!" Norm shouted.
It poured out like a languid waterfall, strangely just like some of the ones back in the forest. He felt the dread tugging at him, he was losing you.
He held your head to stop you from potentially hurting yourself even more when suddenly your body slumped. Your breaths come out in wheezes.
Neteyam could no longer hold back his tears, he had never felt so helpless and petrified. He wished the rest of his family was here, in a room full of people - he felt stranded.
Max clocking onto this, pitched out a thought. "I don't know if it will work, but I have an idea." He held a flashlight above Y/n's eyes as he spoke.
"What is it? We'll make it work." Neteyam insisted. He would do whatever it takes to be able to rid you of this agony.
Ronal eyed the boy, understanding his struggles. Then stared at the humans who were fumbling over Y/n's body, using foreign devices.
"You wish to transfer Y/n's soul to their avatar," Ronal replied as she listened to your heart. It was weak, but still persisting.
Max gaped at her, the Tshahik must have put two and two together.
"We cannot save Y/n from these injuries, they are fatal. That is the only way." Max further explained, not meeting Neteyam's eyes. He knew what he was suggesting was an ultimatum larger than life. But he could not see any other way, you were already advancing further in succumbing to your wounds.
"What you are asking of me is something that has only been done a few times, not once has it been performed in our clan. As the Tsahik I cannot guarantee this will be successful!" Ronal protested as she continued to tend to you however way possible.
Tsireya continued to plug Y/n's wounds, listening in, as Neteyam hesitantly let go of your hand. Moving to Ronal, he kneeled down before her.
Ronal noted one thing, the eyes she was looking into were drastically different from how she remembered them moments ago. Now it was untamed, yet persistent.
"I know my family has caused enough destruction. I know you never wanted us here in the first place. You believed we would not do our part, and I cannot fault you for thinking that way. We have learned your ways, adapted like my father did." He then motioned to you behind him.
"So will Y/n. In your eyes, sky people come from demon blood, but their parents fought on Toruk Makto's side. They made a difference, just like Y/n has started to do here. Y/n is an excellent fisher and healer. The children in this clan have warmed up to them. Because that's the effect they have on people! I swear, if you give them this second chance, they will be forever grateful. And if it doesn't go the way we wish for it to, I will not put the blame on you. The decision of whether or not she passes through the 'Eye of Eywa' only lies with our great mother." Neteyam held his chin up high, not bothering to wipe away the tears that began to stream down his face.
Ronal looked at Neteyam for a few more beats, before shifting to look at you.
"Prepare them for travel, we do not have much time before they get too weak for the transfer." Neteyam cried out in relief, thanking the great mother as he moved back over to you.
"Stay with me, just a little more Y/n," Neteyam begged, squeezing your hand encouragingly.
"I can't feel anything Neteyam, please I'm scared." You whispered to him, and he tried to put on a strong face. But he couldn't even imagine how scared you must be if he was already paralyzed with fear. All he could do was pet your head. and give you continuous kisses on your hair and forehead. Ewya, please be with us right now.
"Where are they?" Neteyam could hear his mother calling for them outside.
"In here!" He beckoned them over.
"Tsireya, get your father and gather whoever can come with us. We must leave to the Coves of the Ancestors, now." Ronal advised her child.
She quickly halted what she was doing and dashed outside of the mauri.
Neytiri's hand fell to her mouth at the sight of you, weeping as Jake whispered comforting words to her.
"Mother." Neteyam looked up at her, not knowing how to proceed from here.
"Ronal, may I bring her on my Ikran?" Neytiri in just a single moment changed face. Time was of the essence.
"Yes, you have not been where we are going. Follow along with us." Ronal commanded, gathering her things and getting ready to ride.
At this point you were slipping in and out of consciousness, but Tsireya had been able to temporarily stop the bleeding. Neytiri cradled you in her arms as she walked outside, calling for her Ikran.
The Sully family and Metkayina clan made their way to the Cove of the Ancestors. Ronal could not shake the feeling she had thought. That no matter what - they would end up holding a funeral there tonight. She dared not to voice such feelings.
Neytiri stayed leveled, flying closely side by side with Jake and Neteyam. She kept looking down at you through the short journey, checking on you. She wasn't the only one who was doing so though. Neteyam as well kept a close eye on you. Sometimes his Ikran would brush too closely to Neytiri's. She let it slide this time.
The last time Neteyam was here, you were in your Avatar body. You both had a deep love for sacred places to the Na'vi, and this one wasn't any different. Neither of you has heard of the place before, but it didn't squash the appreciation you both had for it. He recalls not just being in awe of his surroundings, but also of you. Your eyes held something remarkable, full of wonder. You'd given him one of your big grins, the one that only comes out in times like this. Your deep appreciation for monumental sites like this made him think of how your heart was just pure gold.
"You'd make a great Tsahik one day", is something he had cheekily said to you. In return you gave him a smack on the shoulder, scolding him. He harbored such great memories from that day, he loved it. He could only desire to relive that instead of all this.
The wind swooshed in her ears, but Neytiri faintly heard you say, "I like it here." She grinned down at you tearfully.
Truthfully, you don't know much about where you came from, to you - Pandora was and always will be your home. Nothing could compare to the beauty it beholds.
"Me too," Neytiri spoke wistfully.
You all were approaching the spirit tree, submerged in the ocean. It glowed like no other. The clan began to make a circle around it, linking their arms.
"Jake, we have their avatar!" Norm called from a rock not too far from the tree that they were safely able to land on. They had left before everyone else to get there ahead of time.
Jake flys down to them, retrieving your avatar.
Neytiri and Neteyam go to the same rock. They step off their Ikrans as Neytiri treats them like a feather. Your whimpers of discomfort do not go unnoticed.
Ronal and Tonawari approach them with a large leaf of sorts.
"You may place her in here," Tonowari told them.
You looked peaceful, too peaceful. You were placed in the leaf, as Ronal began to float you closer to the Spirit tree. The Sullys closely followed behind their Tsahik.
"Jake, attach their avatar to the spirit tree" Ronal ordered.
Jake nodded, placing a mask on your Avatar and activating it - an idea of Norms and Max as you would be underwater for an unknown amount of time. He connected your queue to the tree, the closest he could to the surface.
"We must put them to sleep for the ceremony to start. If you'd like to say anything to them, now is the time." Ronal gave you moments of privacy, swimming over to members of the Metkayina clan to further explain what was going on.
Neteyam couldn't remove his eyes from your Avatar that was shifted with the current of the ocean. Swaying whilst attached to the Spirit Tree, he'd never seen your Avatar look so lifeless.
Jake waved him over, "Neteyam, they are asking for you."
Tuk was crying, her head leaning against your own. You quietly spoke to one another, even while in agony - you managed to make the youngest Sully giggle.
Neteyam drew closer to you, even if you were facing away from him. Like clockwork, you felt his presence. Your head slightly turning to acknowledge him.
Tuk moved back, latching onto Lo'ak as she cried into his shoulder. The entire Sully family have given words of encouragement to Y/n, Jake especially - explaining the process and how it felt passing through "The Eye of Eywa". He could only pray you'd get that far. He was truly hoping this wouldn't be a repeat of Grace Augustine.
"This is not goodbye. When you wake up, I will be by your side the entire time. You are not alone. Oel ngati kameie." He stated, headstrong - like his father.
Neteyam wanted to wipe away your tears, he wanted to lean his head against yours without the obstruction of the mask. He realised that very soon, it could be possible. If you make it through this, that is.
"Neteyam I-I, Oel ngati kameie." You stuttered, voice cracking. That was all you can manage.
Ronal expectantly surveyed the Sullys, Neteyam nodded. It's time.
"We will now begin the consciousness transfer. Neteyam, connect them to the Spirit Tree. You may rest for the time being, Y/n." Ronal announced, everyone, witnessing their mighty Tsahik.
Your eyes fluttered shut, Neteyam looked at his family, before taking a deep breath and bringing their limp body to the Spirit tree.
His eyes widened as one of the leaves reached out, attaching itself to your back. Eywa, are you here? A comforting hand met his shoulder, his foundation. His family.
The Sullys linked their arms as Neytiri and Neteyam held onto you.
The Spirit Tree was alive, its light brightening a tenth fold. Flickering, as it seemed to react to the chanting of the clan. The Sullys could only cling onto each other more tightly as each leaf on the spirit tree lit up. It was fascinating to witness, they were just hoping it would work.
Before they knew it, the lights ceased. Ronal from above the surface halted everyone, before diving down to where you were. Tonowari, Tsireya, and Ao'nung trailed behind. They all looked to you expectantly, hoping for any sort of sign.
Gasping you awaken, struggling to catch your breath as you immediately check your surroundings. Neteyam almost choked on the water as your eyes opened, he tried to get your attention but you were too lost in your own world.
You were in the water, but how were you breathing? The mind-numbing pain was gone, and you definitely felt different. You were trying to remember and process whatever had just happened. Oh yes, the ceremony. It must have not worked, you're still wearing a mask.
By instinct your hands move to cover your face in shame, instead, you see that it's your avatar's hands. You tilt your head down, the legs, feet! It's all blue. Did it actually work?
Neteyam swan closer to your side, pointing upwards. Signing to you to swim up to the surface, you nodded. Detaching your queue, you made your way to the surface - the Sullys except Neytiri followed behind closely.
This time when your head pops out from the water, there is no bullet wound. You weren't bleeding out, you were truly Na'vi. You've miraculously been given a second chance at life.
You removed your mask as grateful tears streamed down your face. You gaped at Ronal and the Metkayina clan, "Thank you, thank you so much." You spoke to them all, signing "I see you".
When you reached Ronal, you brought her into a hug. The soon-to-be mother of a 3rd child was in shock, looking at Tonowari. The man could only grin, urging his mate to return the hug. And so, she did just that.
"Y/n!" Tuk screamed in delight as she swam over to you, you disconnected from Ronal. Mouthing "thank you again", she let a smile slip as she took in your words.
You hugged Tuk, looking at Neteyam over her shoulder. He was looking at you, differently. It was expected that he was always more attentive towards you. It felt all too similar to when he tried to remember every piece of you before parting ways. He was in disbelief.
Neytiri came up from behind Neteyam, a large leaf in her grasp as Jake helped console her.
Neteyam let Y/n lean their head on his shoulder as he squeezed you, kissing your cheek. They all realised what exactly, or who Neytiri was carrying.
Your human body.
You didn't want to look, it felt far too strange to do so. While your avatar still held features very similar to that of your human self, most of what resembled your parents felt futile. It just wasn't the same anymore, and it never would be again.
You felt grateful that you were already aware of how it felt to live amongst the Na'vi in an Avatar body. Navigating this body isn't rocket science, you've been in and out doing so these past few months.
Tsireya comes, with a handful of flowers and seashells. She delicately spreads them around in the leaf.
"In our village, we give back energy to the ocean, the sea will allow their past self to rest peacefully." Tsireya indicated to the ocean floor beneath you all that held a yellow glow.
Neytiri leans her head down, kissing your now-closed eyelids. She felt a sense of deja-vu creeping up on her. Her family follows her actions, all of them kissing your eyelids, their own unspoken version of goodbye. As Neytiri and Jake brought your human body down to the sea anemone that awaited for you, all you could think and wish for - was more time.
You didn't understand why the circumstances had to be like this. As you watched that version of yourself begin to disappear, it physically felt like a part of yourself went with it.
Y/n no longer felt naive to Pandora. They knew more than most about this beautiful luxury. Now that they'd been gifted with a body that was stronger, and more capable. They would stand with their chin held high and fight. Just like their parents had done.
Slowly everyone disperses, making their way back to Awa'atlu. Neteyam can see how drained you are, he silently beckons you to follow him. They make their way back to his Ikran, flying back home.
Everyone's asleep. You had tried to do so yourself, but you only got a good hour in before being awoken by the thoughts circling your mind. Poor Neteyam was exhausted, so it didn't take much for you to escape from his hold and make your way outside.
You let yourself sit on the shore, gazing up at the twinkling stars and endless skies. Squinting your eyes, you saw someone making their way back. Ronal.
Her cyan eyes widened seeing you, hopping off her Ilu she walked over.
"Can't sleep?" Ronal inquired at the obviously distraught child.
You shake your head, no.
Ronal sighed, "I understand, today has changed your life. It is good that you have such a strong support system."
All you could muster was a grin, "Thank you, Ronal. I know I've said that countless times today. But I don't know what convincing it took, but I will forever be in debt to you."
This time, it was Ronal who shook her head.
"I am your Tsahik, you have proven to not be useless here. But that Sully boy, he begged for me to do whatever it takes to save you. I'd like to believe Tonowari would have done the same for me if I was one of the good sky people. You are essential to Metkayina, you are one of us now."
She let her hand linger on your shoulder. Before you could get a response in, Ronal was already walking away back to her mauri.
You looked over your shoulder, she'd done the same.
Speaking it out didn't feel enough, therefore you signed it instead.
"Oel ngati kameie." She did the motion in return.
As she walked inside her mauri, someone else caught your attention.
Your Neteyam.
He darted over to you, a worrisome expression plastered on his face.
"What's wrong? Are you in pain?" He blurted out, lifting your arms to check if there were any wounds.
"I am, not physically though. Thank you for worrying about me, Nete. I am mourning what I've lost, what those demons have robbed away from me." You explained to him, your hand movements were erratic as you were still trying to come to terms with everything yourself.
Neteyam clenched his fists, before bringing you into his embrace. You leaned your head over his heart, listening to the steady rhythm. It dawns on you, you could've lost this.
Your grip tightens, truly taking him in as you bring your hands through his braids. You could've lost him.
He seemed to be coming to terms with the same realisation. You heard him sniffling as he breathed you in. You made him lean back, your thumbs following his tears as you gently brushed them away. He nuzzled his face into your hands, his body shaking as he tried to conceal the depth of his emotions.
Neteyam tried to speak, his mouth opening only to close again. You let him reign his thoughts as you continued to gently caress his defined cheekbones.
You gazed into his eyes, they were dark, lost. He seemed worlds away from you..
"I simply cannot live in a world that doesn't have you in it." Neteyam spoke through clenched teeth. Like uttering those words was a physical blow to his gut.
"Nete...-" You tried to offer words of comfort, only to be cut off.
You let him - because you understand him.
He exclaimed. "You are my home! You are my person! It should have been me, Ewya worked her miracles today. But seeing you now, compared to how you just were. I keep doubting if you are even real."
Neteyam could not meet your coaxing eyes, his hands were gripping your arms for dear life. Truth be told, when he had woken up and you weren't there? He had thought the ceremony was a sick joke he had curated to cope. His heart almost gave out when he went outside the mauri only to see you sitting in the same spot you always seemed to endeavor.
"And you are mine, I am here. I am real." You carefully removed his hands from your arms, placing one on your cheek and the other on your heart.
"The great mother has given me a second chance, all thanks to you. Do not beat yourself up for something that was out of your control. We've already lost so much time, I cannot afford to dwell on it any longer." Your words settled in his soul, making itself an oasis there. It was like a thwack to the back of his head, just like the ones you'd do when you scolded him.
You're really here. He could breathe.
You were right, it all has already happened. All you can do is move forward. That you can both do, together. As a pair, you were an unstoppable force.
His eyes that were so lost a few moments ago opened, with newfound sparks of hope. A new sense of purpose. Behind all that flickered rage, directed at the sky people. They would pay for what they've done to you if they crossed each other's paths in life again.
You beamed at him, he looks so radiant at this moment. He let you lean your head on his shoulder as he held your hands in his. He traced random patterns on yours as he looked down at them.
"Tanhi, I forget even now your hands are still smaller than mine." He smirked at you as you snarled at him.
"Shut up, skxawng!" You giggled and he could only grin in return, giving your hands a gentle kiss or two.
Between one another you talked about your favourite memories of when you were human through the rest of the eclipse. Neteyam chuckled at one he was specifically fond of as you continued to rant about it.
As his nose nuzzled into yours, your cheeks became a deeper blue hue at his actions. He couldn't be more grateful for the Great Mother and her ways. Neteyam decided to take this whole experience as the beginning of something else entirely.
Eywa has secured a lifetime with you. His father was right, his family is a fortress. He will no longer take that for granted.
Neteyam may not become the Olo'eyktan like his parents were preparing him for. But wherever either one of you went, the other always followed. He will protect that honour for as long you'll let him, and he hopes it lasts for this life and every other one that the world demands of him.

this is probably a lame idea, but can you write a one shot that takes place sometime after twow. where tulkun are returning again and ao'nung tells his spirit brother that he became mated with sully!reader? maybe reader is clueless what they're talking about idk. i just want some established relationship fluff with him and there are not a lot of writing like that 😣
DEFINITELY NOT A LAME IDEA!! BUT IM SO SORRY I THINK ITS TOO SHORT!
ao'nung x gn! reader
It was an ordinary day. The Sully family welcoming the day by spending the time together in their marui. Laughing and catching up with each member of the family. Their laughter was cut off when the horn sounded again, and they heard it.
“Everyone, the Tulkuns have returned!”
Your ears perked up at the sound of Tsireya’s joyous voice. It had been something you hadn’t heard in a long time. All of your siblings looked at each other, excitement filling your eyes as you all scrambled to stand up and race outside your marui.
Neteyam laughs in victory being the first one to step foot outside. “No fair, bro!” Lo’ak playfully shoves Neteyam as Spider came second with you. Then Kiri and Tuk.
“Let’s go!” Tuktirey shouts, running and calling for her ilu.
Everyone followed her, but Lo’ak went out of his way to go over to Tsireya. While an all too familiar figure walks towards you, his signature smile plastered onto his face.
You already feel your body reacting on its own as you smiled back, cheeks warming. “Hey there.” Ao’nung greeted, taking a glance out in the sea to find everyone finding their own spirit sibling.
“Care to join me?” Ao’nung offers his hand.
Who were you to refuse your mate?
“Gladly.” You reply, taking his hand. Ao’nung called to his ilu and you already made your way behind his back, your arms wrapping around his waist as he looks hack at you.
“Ready?”
Once you have him a nod his ilu was off, diving into the ocean. Ao’nung’s eyes scanned the water for his own spirit brother.
It also registered to you that this’ll be the first time you’d see his spirit brother, and you suddenly got nervous. But you really did not have the time to learn what they were saying, so it made you all the more nervous.
Once Ao’nung finds his spirit brother, his smile grows approaching the Tulkun.
His ilu slows.
Your eyes then travelled to the creature in front of you. It was huge and it had the same tattoos on its belly like on Ao’nung’s arm. Your eyes widened. Then the two of you dismount his ilu.
You watched as Ao’nung approached his tulkun, signing his greetings which you knew.
`I see you, brother’ Ao’nung signs towards his spirit brother, who in turn sounded his reply.
Your smile only grew seeing Ao’nung catch up with his tulkun. But to be honest, you really didn’t know what he was saying, nor what his spirit brother was saying.
On Ao’nung’s point of view, however.
Ao’nung takes a glance at you before signaling for you to come closer.
You shy, but follow him as you swam beside him, facing his tulkun.
‘This is (Y/N)’ He signs to his spirit brother.
You could hear him squawk in a high pitch tone.
‘And they’re my mate’ Ao’nung signs rather proudly.
You were still confused as Ao’nung’s smile grew as his brother responded.
‘That is amazing news, I feel the two of you are made for each other’
Ao’nung nods before replying ‘I don’t know what I’d do without them, I’m really thankful for it’
Then his spirit brother turns to look at you and you swore by the way its head tipped down and its eyes bore into yours that it had accepted you. You smile, signing your greeting.
After they had caught up, Ao’nung invited you to ride with his spirit brother.
‘Hold here’ He signs, patting its fin. You follow, placing your hands on its fin. Ao’nung did the same beside you as he signals his tulkun brother to go.
Then you both were being swam around, doing a couple of loops.
Ao’nung occasionally glances at you, his heart being overwhelemd as you had a huge grin on your face as you signed ‘Thank you’ to his tulkun.
And after that, the two of you found yourselves atop his tulkun, sitting across from each other.
“Ao’nung, I cannot describe how this makes me happy.” You say, referring to him and his tulkun’s connection.
“He knows who you are already.” He replies, taking your hand in his and stroking the back of it.
“He likes you.” Ao’nung said after you didn’t respond. “Really?”
“Yes, really, you know what else he said?” Ao’nung smirks at you, now pulling you close to trap you in a hug.
“What?”
“That we’re made for each other.”

Avatar’s First Braids
Neteyam x gn!reader
Summary: Just like Spider, you have your own avatar, though you had to wait until you were older before you could use yours. As such, to celebrate your new blue, the Sullys want to braid your avatar’s hair.
Word Count: 4.9k
A/N: Help, this was supposed to focus on Neteyam and it's just one big fic about his siblings instead, but I promise there's still a crumb of Neteyam. I really took my own liberties with some Avatar lore so it’s probably inaccurate lol. This is platonic/romantic, wrote it kinda down the middle. Neteyam is aged up to 20 here.
At fifteen years old, you could not describe the bizarreness of watching a tiny body, your body, float in an amnio tank. Your very own avatar, steadily growing at a pace beyond the growth rate of native Na’vi, twitched in a dreamlike state. Tiny blue hands curled around a chubby blue face. Small tendrils of nerves floated out of the base of the skull, surrounded by baby hair. You could not believe what kuru looked like before the braids. A bit creepy, if you had to be honest.
You weren’t alone. Spider stood right next to you with Tuk in front of you two. Lo’ak and Kiri stood on his other side and Neteyam was right next to you. His forearm rested against the glass of the tank as he leaned into your space, tilting his head to observe the baby. The Na’vi half of your group each had a rebreather in hand, inhaling from it every so often. All six of you watched the small twitches, mesmerized by the little thing.
It had only been a few weeks since you watched it grow from an embryo. You had been the most fascinated watching the rapidly growing progress of the avatar, coming nearly every day to watch. It led to Neteyam and Spider hanging around, then Lo’ak and Kiri, and finally Tuk could not be left out. You could stand around all day and watch. This was your avatar.
“So,” Spider spoke over the silence. “What if it’s an outie?”
Lo’ak scoffed, already biting back a smile. “Bro, that’s what you’re thinking about?”
Spider gestured to the umbilical cord attached to the baby’s stomach. He huffed in defense of himself. “You guys all made fun of my avatar having an outie.”
You snapped your head in his direction, offended that he lumped you up with the rest of them. “I didn’t.”
“That’s because you’re you, Spider.” Neteyam teased, leaning forward past you to make eye contact. He pressed the rebreather to his mouth for a breath. “Besides, yours was the first with an outie belly button.”
Tuk looked down at her stomach and traced her belly button. “I can’t imagine having my belly button out like that.”
“It’s not that weird,” Kiri countered. “Only at first, it was.”
“Bro, look at you. You’re fine.” Lo’ak reached over and stuck his finger in Spider’s belly button, earning a shout and a smack to the hand. Spider laid his palm over his belly button while Lo’ak laughed and straightened himself. “You know we didn’t mean it.”
Yeah, when Spider first entered his avatar after decantation, the immediate thing the Na’vi children noticed was the protruding belly button. It was then you realized that none of the Na’vi had outies, unlike humans who could have either innie or outie. While they could excuse the appearance of an outie on a human, given the many physical discrepancies between humans and Na’vi, they teased Spider for having one on his avatar. Just another physical difference on top of eyebrows and five digits on the hands and feet of avatars.
You rolled your eyes. “Can we stop talking about belly buttons?”
“Okay,” Neteyam agreed. He gestured with his hand above the amnio tank. “How long does this take, again?”
“Five years,” a voice behind caused you all to turn. Norm approached your group with a grimace. “Why are you all hanging around the test tube avatar?”
“So why couldn’t this avatar,” Tuk pointed at the tank while inhaling from the rebreather, ignoring the question, “grow at the same time as Spider’s? Wouldn’t that save time?”
“Unfortunately our resources are limited and we don’t have the space to incubate multiple avatars at a time.” Norm made a small gesture for which you all parted to let him through. He looked at the baby avatar, then at you six. “Now, can you please go hang out somewhere else? The lab is not a playground.”
Per his suggestion, you dispersed from the lab. The Sullys set the rebreathers back on the rack on their way out, Tuk bouncing happily ahead of you. Spider brought the conversation back to belly buttons and you groaned, telling him to move on. Doing what any teen did, you all flocked to another area of the camp to bother someone else.
Five years. That’s how long you had to wait.
+:+:+:+:+
You were going to throw up.
Well, you thought you were. Nerves knot your stomach tight, worsened by the butterflies fluttering in it. Your heart hammered in your chest. You laid your hands over your stomach, twiddling with your fingers. The overhead lights were bright. So, so bright.
Currently, you waited on the link bed to make your first connection. Sure, you waited years for this moment, but now that it was right in front of you, you dreaded it. Would it hurt? Would it make you more nauseous than you already were? In the coming weeks, you pestered Spider about the sensation. You had to know every little detail. Question after question, the routine grew old fast and Spider eventually repeated the phrase don’t worry about it. Not the best advice you received.
To make matters worse, your friends were not there with you. Kiri and Lo’ak had grown too tall to comfortably stand in the lab with you and Lo’ak didn’t want Tuk’s unfiltered mouth to raise more panic in you. Spider decided to wait with them outside your avatar’s lab room. All to take in the first impression.
“Take it easy,” Dr. Max Patel said from the computer system beside you. His eyes darted across the screen. “You’re going to be fine when you wake up.”
You turned your head to face him. “Are you sure?”
A great question to ask the guy who’s been doing this longer than you’ve been alive. He glanced your way. You took that as your answer and returned to your original position, focusing on controlling your breaths. The link bed wasn’t entirely uncomfortable, at least.
When Max faced you to grab the hood of the bed, you moved your hands to your sides. He gave you a few more words of encouragement and you nodded, half listening. Really, you just didn’t want to throw up right now.
When the hood closed, you noticed how heavy you breathed. Your stomach twisted tighter and you screwed your eyes shut. You could do this. You could do this. As another wave of nausea hit you, you held your breath.
“Movement behind the eyelids.”
Someone called your name. “If you can hear me, can you open your eyes?”
You obeyed, opening them only to flinch and squeeze them closed. Damn, who turned up the brightness here?
“You okay?”
“The light is bright,” you supplied a bit groggy.
Behind your eyelids, the intensity of the lights lessened. Your eyes fluttered open carefully, finding that half the room’s lights had been turned off. You breathed a sigh of relief, stomach still in knots. A moment passed before you realized just where you were.
You sat up, immediately falling back down.
“Take it easy.” One of the scientists set a hand on your arm. “We’ll get you out of here as soon as we’ve conducted some fine motor tests.”
You blinked, ears twitching. Twitching. The sensation prompted you to cautiously raise your hand, brushing your fingers over your ear. A pointy Na’vi ear. It flicked back at your touch unconsciously and you let out a breathless laugh. This was weirder than you expected. Not to mention how seamlessly you connected to your avatar. Spider really could not have prepared you more for this.
“Can you wiggle your toes for me?”
You couldn’t say how long those tests took. A few minutes. An hour. It went by too fast but simultaneously dragged on longer than your poor heart could take. You wanted to get up and go go go but you didn’t want to fall over and embarrass yourself. When you got the okay, left alone to change out of the gown into something more comfortable, you made your way to the door.
The door hissed open, letting the bright light from the sun filter in. You squinted and raised your hand, blue as the sky, over your eyes to shield them. Your tail flicked at the minor inconvenience you felt.
“Whoa, check you out.”
You looked to your left. Lo’ak and Spider leaned against the wall of the shack. Kiri sat on the ground with her hands behind her as support. Beside her, Tuk sat cross-legged, picking at grass. No Neteyam, though. He had gone earlier that morning on a hunt with his father.
You smiled, dropping your hand to your side. “Like what you see?”
“You’re like us, now,” Tuk said, dropping her blades of grass.
Kiri smiled up at you. “How do you feel?”
“Weird.” You looked behind you. Your tail had a mind of its own, though you still felt every flick of it as though it were you commanding it. “Really weird.”
“You get used to it.” Spider shrugged and pushed off the wall. He was much shorter than you now, still human.
Lo’ak made a sound. “I can’t believe you can’t use your avatar right now.” His hand smacked at his thigh. “Do you know what we could be doing if you didn’t get hurt?”
“It was your recklessness that got us here.” Kiri looked between the two of them, moving to stand. “Spider’s avatar should take a few days to heal, then we can do the plan.”
Tuk pouted. “This was supposed to be the perfect first impression.”
“I know. I know.” Spider rolled his eyes. “Few more days and then we’ll pretend that there weren't any hiccups.”
You watched Tuk stand. She stood a little taller than Spider, shorter than the three of you. It was weird being taller than her. Well, now only Spider was the only drastically short one of your group. At least, until he got back his avatar.
“Should we get going?” Kiri asked before she took in the state of your hair and gasped. “Your kuru!”
“What about it?” You attempted to look behind you without any luck.
Kiri came up to you, directing you in front of her. “We have our braids around it as protection. Your hair is just wild and it's unguarded.”
“Oh.”
“Here, I’ll braid it. You sit down.”
“Okay.” You lowered into a cross-legged position with Kiri behind you.
She gathered a bunch of your hair, combing her fingers through the roots of it before beginning to twist strands over and around the kuru. The rest of your hair swept over your shoulders, tickling your skin as it did. Given how your avatar’s hair had not been groomed in its time in the amnio tank, it became wildly the length of the kuru. The long hair weighed heavy on your shoulders.
Tuk stood beside you, watching Kiri braid your kuru. You glanced at her out of the corner of your eye, wondering what she could be thinking about. She’d aged to a dreaded thirteen, filled with mischief and still figuring things out. Despite the age when other children sought their independence, she still clung to your ragtag group, not entirely eager to break off to her own friends. Things haven't changed much, you all had to keep a more keen eye on her, given the number of bad ideas she could come up with and act out on, now. Like right now, where her expression twisted in deep thought.
“Can I braid the rest of your hair?” She gestured to her shoulder-length braids.
You turned your head to see, only for Kiri to guide your head back into a straight position. “Don’t move.”
You found no harm in that. “Sure, Tuk. But I’m not sure I want it this long.”
“I can cut it.”
She pulled her knife out. The second she walked toward you, you flinched away from her. As sweet as she was, you didn’t exactly trust a child with a knife by your head.
Kiri forced you to keep still, catching you mid-cry. “Don’t move,” she repeated with an edge, not so much bothered by Tuk’s eager knife-wielding as she was your jerking.
You raised your hand, unable to properly block Tuk’s oncoming knife.
Lo’ak took initiative and intervened. He towered over Tuk and grabbed her wrist. “Are you crazy?”
Tuk pouted, fighting against his hold. as her voice raised in a whine. “I know what I’m doing.”
He took the knife from her. “Let me do it.”
Tuk stomped her foot. “I wanted to do it.”
“You can still braid my hair.” You tried to mediate. It did the job as she pouted off to the side but relented with crossed arms. She stuck her tongue out at Lo’ak. A shiver crawled up your spine from Kiri’s braiding. “You can make them look like yours.”
She smiled. An excited nod and she grabbed the ends of her braids, twisting them between her fingers. “Yeah, we can look like twins.” She spoke to Lo’ak, “don’t cut higher than the shoulders.”
“Sure.” He nodded, hunching down to his knees.
Lo’ak took bundles of your hair away from your face and held it away. He worked away the knife. Already, your head felt lighter without the extra weight. You relaxed, letting the siblings work at your hair.
Spider took his own knife out from where he stood. Since he had nothing better to do, he opted to busy his hands by flipping his knife in hand. You watched him flip and catch it with ease.
He hummed, “you gonna bond with an ikran?”
Your face twisted in horror. “Uh, no. I just got my avatar.”
Kiri agreed. “You need to take baby steps.”
“Yeah, or your avatar will end up like Spider’s.” Lo’ak teased.
Spider rolled his eyes with a nod. They weren’t necessarily wrong.
After Lo’ak had cut the hair on the other side, Tuk took her rightful place by you. Not before Lo’ak returned her knife and she sheathed it. She made some comments about your hair being softer than hers, a result of the amniotic fluid you guessed.
In a moment of excitement, by now half your hair had been braided, Tuk blurted. “you’re going to look just like one of us!”
You half-paid attention, too focused on your tail. It smacked at the ground, batting away a small amount of dirt with each lackluster slap. The sight hypnotized you, drawing you out of your stupor with each flick. You could not describe the sensation of having a tail, let alone one acting on its own. Reaching out, you brushed your fingers over your tail. Goosebumps littered your whole body as you shivered. More sensitive than you would have expected.
Your ears flick at the sudden commotion Lo’ak and Spider made. Looking up from your tail, you watched the duo roll on the ground in a playfight. Another of Spider’s attempts to catch Lo’ak off guard and win a fight against the Na’vi.
“You’re going to like being in your avatar,” Kiri said. Her hands neared the end of your kuru. “Once you get used to this, of course.”
You hummed, tearing your gaze from the boys. “Yeah, I won’t lag behind when we’re out.” You touched your palm, tracing the lines etched in it. It tickled. Your neck began to hurt from holding still for so long. “Too bad Neteyam isn’t here.”
“His fault,” Tuk said, her voice just a touch hurt and uncaring. She wanted her big brother here as much as you did.
Kiri finished the braid, tying a spare thread around the end. She ran her fingers down the braid once, admiring her work and ensuring it was compact. Her tongue clicked, quick to remind Tuk. “You know how he is with dad. He can’t say no.”
“But this is a big deal.” Tuk weaved her hands through your small braids, letting them swing around your face. “Done.”
You set your hands on the ground and pushed yourself to a stand. Your body swayed momentarily, supported by Kiri’s hands on your back. You thanked her, still getting used to the extra weight to balance. Then, you turned away and shrugged. “It’s not that big of a deal.”
Kiri would not buy it. She stepped around you to face you with her hands on her hips, head cocked in disbelief. “Don’t downplay this. Your first time in your avatar is important to you. So, it’s important to us.”
You relented, knowing better than to deny the obvious. Instead, you smiled and took her comment to heart. “Thanks.”
Kiri smiled back, nodding once in finality.
“Are you guys ready to go?” Lo’ak called back, getting off the ground.
Spider also pushed off the ground. Both of them were covered in dirt. “Yeah, we need to get going before the eclipse.”
Kiri glanced back your way. You nodded. “I’m ready.”
“Finally.” Lo’ak took the lead, waving his hand for you all to follow. “Don’t fall behind.”
He took off running. You followed, all laughing at your wobbly run. Despite his tease, Lo’ak never strayed far. The group of you dodged and weaved around humans and avatars alike until you reached the edge of the human camp. Then, the real fun began. Daring across the forest for the first time as a Na’vi. It was exhilarating.
Tuk, ever the youngest, called out to you guys as you ran across treetops. “Wait up!”
You leaped across a gap between trees, laughing loudly while your body buzzed with adrenaline. This was something you could get used to.
+:+:+:+:+:+
For the fifth time, you skidded to a halt, bending at the waist while your shoulders rose and fell rapidly. Taking big, deep breaths, you now understood why the scientists wanted you to take it easy. Not only did you stumble and nearly crash into anything and everything, but you also dragged the trip on longer than it needed to be.
Spider caught your hunched form out of the corner of his eye, hands on your knees and panting like an animal. “Hold up,” he called up ahead.
Lo’ak groaned, grabbing an overhead branch as he turned around. “Really? We’re going to get in trouble if we’re late. We’re almost there.”
“Don’t wait up.” You waved your hand dismissively, only for it to fall back to your side. “I’m good.”
The group took the time to wait five minutes, nonetheless.
By the time you made it to Hometree, the village had been gathered for mealtime. Heads turned in your direction, some Na’vi greeting you. They were certainly kinder than other times you’d come by. As you walked past to find the rest of the Sullys, you leaned down to Spider and spoke in a hushed whisper.
“This is weird.”
He shrugged. “Told you they treat you differently when you’re in an avatar.”
You stood straight and did your best to ignore the stares to the back of your head.
Thankfully, it didn’t take long to find the family. Neytiri and Jake smiled from where they sat, chatting amongst themselves while Neteyam lent them an ear, preparing the meal. Tuk ran ahead of you, crying about how starved she was. Lo’ak and Kiri soon sat, you and Spider sitting farthest.
“You’re late,” Neytiri said.
Lo’ak nodded his head in your direction. “A certain avatar lagged behind.”
Neteyam looked up from beside his mother. The Na’vi’s eyes widened, taking you in. He opened his mouth, but no words came out. His tail swished behind him. You merely smiled from across the fire. When he did find the courage to speak, his father beat him to the punch.
“You look different.” He smiled, looking you in the eye. It felt weird to be at eye level with him, too used to him towering over you. “How’s your first run?”
“I think I’m handling it okay.”
Spider laughed. “No way. You ran like a baby using their legs for the first time.”
“It was for the first time,” Kiri replied and shook her head. “We probably shouldn’t have rushed out.”
Jake raised his brow. “That bad, huh?”
Plates were passed around. Tuk dug into her food while you all talked. No doubt this was from today’s hunt. While you ate, Spider sat back and talked with Lo’ak and Kiri.
“You will learn,” Neytiri had told you between her own mouthfuls. “Jake had been no better.”
“And that’s without the years of training.” Jake shook his head. “Those were the days.”
After eating, you split off with Neteyam to catch up. The others understood for the most part to not follow, distracting Tuk before she could tag along.
For the most part, you walked normally. Without the pressure of running, you could balance yourself correctly. Neteyam was quiet, never moving past your side, letting you set the pace. You reached a section of Hometree untouched, quiet, and tucked away from the rest of the clan. When you stopped, Neteyam looked your way.
“Are you tired?”
“No.” You shook your head, tickled by the concern he displayed. “I’m fine. Don’t worry about me.”
“Just checking.” He followed your lead and sat down beside you, overlooking the view of Pandora. His tail flicked patiently. “So, you think about what you want to do, now that you have an avatar?”
“Honestly-” You leaned back on your hands, humming in thought. “I never thought this far. It didn’t seem like this would ever happen. I mean, I had to wait five years.”
“Yeah.” Neteyam looked away. “We can figure it out on the way. There’s so much you’ll be able to do now that you have a kuru.”
“I guess.” You reached behind you, bringing your kuru braid forward. The tendrils of nerves opened, wiggling in the open air. It was an out-of-body experience, watching nerves that belonged to you wriggle in the air, feeling the sensation wave at nothing and near tasting the air deep in your nervous system, but unable to believe this was yours. You set the braid aside. “First, I have to master how to run. Can’t get anywhere around here by just walking.”
“We’ll build your stamina.” He smiled and nudged your arm with his elbow. “Then, we’ll get you an ikran.”
You grimaced. “Not for a while, I hope.”
“Certainly.” Neteyam grew quiet again. You turned to look at him, finding him already staring at you. His face was caught in a mesh of wonder and awe. He furrowed his brows. “Who did your hair?”
You blinked, thinking of the braids. “Tuk.”
“Tuk cut your hair?”
Oh. “No, that was Lo’ak.” You cringed, thinking how close Tuk was to committing to the act. “She almost did. Why is it bad?”
He laughed shortly. “It’s uneven.”
“How should I know?”
“Here.” Neteyam got up, moving to get behind you. “I’ll fix it.”
You realized he was undoing your braids in order to do so. “Tuk won’t like you ruining her hard work.”
He hummed. “She won’t know.”
“She’ll know.”
Neteyam’s fingers weaved through your tresses, unwinding them. Loose waves of hair cascaded around your face. Tingles crawled up your spine from the care and gentleness of his hands. You may have even closed your eyes to fully take in the sensation.
You twisted the braid of your kuru as he held your hair. His knife hissed against its sheath, your rather sensitive ears twitched at the sound. Inhaling deeply, you relaxed your shoulders. You trusted Neteyam, more than Lo’ak or Tuk, to cut your hair.
Truthfully, Lo’ak had done a moderately good job cutting your hair on the spot. Neteyam did not have much to work with, only fixing the small, unnoticeable imperfections in your hair. You wondered if it was an excuse to just touch your new, soft hair. His siblings seemed to love your hair.
“There.” Neteyam put away his knife. “Now, it looks even.”
You let out a half-hearted puff of air. It didn’t seem like that big of an issue. “Thanks.”
You heard the smile in his response. “You’re welcome.”
He took his time putting your hair into small braids similar to Tuk’s. With each new bunch of hair gathered, his knuckles would brush along your neck. Pinching your fingers over the braid of your kuru, you fought against the goosebumps that crawled along your skin. A rhythmic smack hit the ground, constant and unwavering. Out of the corner of your eye, you realized it was your tail, not Neteyam’s. It gave away your flush of emotions.
Your ears twitched and you forced another even breath, looking at the orange sky above.
Eclipse approached soon. Far in the distance, you spotted the flapping wings of wild ikran, flying as a group to another perch. Pandora, as much as you didn’t belong here, was your home. You could not imagine trading it for Earth, which you heard from Norm looked nothing like this. Pollution and greed had stripped away the beauty it once had, he said, but it had nothing compared to this moon light-years away. You agreed with his sentiment.
Soft puffs of air fanned the baby hairs on the back of your neck. You contained your shivers, letting your eyes flutter closed. His fingers were nimble, expert in the craft. Body heat permeated from him onto your back, the proximity throwing your heart to the ikrans. Your tail smacked at the ground playfully, betraying the excitement in you despite your trying to quell it. Neither of you spoke of it.
When all was said and done, Neteyam returned to your side. You let go of your kuru and run your hands through your hair, appreciating the work done by him. This time, your tail swayed anxiously as you looked him in the eye.
“Does it look okay now?”
His eyes roamed from your hair to your face. He was quiet, the sunset’s reflection casting a warm glow over his blue skin. A small smile broke onto his face and he nodded. “You look perfect.”
You returned the smile. Your tail once again whipped to and fro in excitement from the flattery. Neteyam’s smile grew, the corners of his eyes crinkling in a way you found endearing. Neither of you said anything, turning away at the same time to face forward. The light of day retreated over the horizon.
“Eclipse is bound.” Neteyam pushed off the ground with a grunt, standing on his feet. He extended his hand down to you. “Come on. Can't let you stay out too late in your avatar.”
You agreed and took his hand. With little effort, he managed to pull you onto your feet. In the five years you’ve waited for your avatar to grow, Neteyam gained muscle fit for his physique. The twenty-year-old warrior still stood taller than you, much like his father, but the height difference was not as drastic in your avatar.
On your way down the Hometree, you bumped into Kiri.
Neteyam regarded her. “Have you seen Spider-”
“He went back to the camp a while ago.” She looked between you two. “Better get going if you don’t want to be out late.”
“Right.” He nodded to her. “Thanks.”
You waved goodbye to Kiri and walked off with Neteyam.
Sticking to the high ground, you both made your way back to camp. The journey was quiet, apart from shared looks and quiet laughter, for no other reason than you both feeling a strange high. You returned to camp safely and sound as Neteyam walked up with you to the avatar sleeping quarters. Eclipse had just encased the land in darkness and outdoor lights illuminated the camp’s shacks. You stopped by your building, turning to him with a hand raised.
“I can walk the rest on my own.”
He smiled. “Can you?”
You rolled your eyes, unable to contain your own smile. You gently pushed at his shoulder. “Go. Or, will you get lost?”
He accepted your teasing with a flick of his tail. “I think I know my way.”
“Alright then.” Your expression softened. You had to stop or else you’d never let him leave. “Goodnight, Nete.”
His smile widened. “Goodnight.”
You waved him off before walking up the steps and into the shack.
Some avatars were still up. Others sound asleep. You made your way to the unclaimed hammock, reserved for your avatar, and climbed into it. Your smile remained even as you closed your eyes.
When you woke up in the link bed, moments passed before the hood rose and you could sit up. Max looked from you to the screen. “Was being an avatar scary like you expected?”
You shook your head, smiling again. “It was weird, but I liked it.”
Norm walked into the room. “Yeah, and next time, don’t stay out late without a head’s up. All avatars have to be accounted for.”
“I’ll remember that.”
You left after bidding them goodnight, heading to your sleeping quarters. For the rest of the night, you lay there, touching the base of your skull. You could feel it, the kuru, like a phantom. Turning onto your side, you closed your eyes.
Today was a good day.

Protector | Lo'ak Sully
summary: you heard how Jake referred to his sons after the reef accident and you couldn't take it anymore, you were tired and decided to defend your confidant, not caring about getting in trouble with Mr. Sully, the na'vi who raised you.
gender: angst, comfort
pairing: Loa'k Sully x gn!omaticaya!reader (can be read as platonic or romantic, but use of "best friend" once)
warnings: Jake being a mean dad (sorry Jake, luv u), heartbreak and insecure Lo'ak because of his daddy issues, father and son argument, reader talking back/defending Lo'ak, “you brought shame to this family" scene, use of “y/n” four times.
a/n: so... people argue about if Jake is a good or a bad father. All I know is that I like Jake, but I would fight him to defend Lo'ak (I know l would lose, but stil). l like the idea after l read "Life of a traitor" (on AO3, by SelfObsessedCaramel) and a one-shot that I read here a long time ago but I can't find the user to give credits, basically reader defends Lo’ak too and Jake and Neytiri are a little mad and surprised, but happy because reader was a good mate for their son, I think reader was a human (tag them if you know who the author is, please). English is not my first language, be kind, please <3.
Masterlist
When Jake and Neytiri decided that you, an orphan, could go to the Metkayina clan with them (because you were raised by the Omatikaya clan and the Sullys), Tuk was the one who smiled the most, Kiri was relieved because she didn't have to deal with other people's shit alone, Neteyamn was glad because you, their childhood friend, made things easier by thinking with a intelligent brain and not with a skxawng brain like his brother.
But Lo'ak, oh, Lo'ak. The boy was so glad, relieved and excited, all of this because you are the only na'vi that listens to him, actually listens. All the time his family is too much for him he can go with you and with a single look at his expression you can know something is wrong. Yes, he loves his family, but sometimes he feels like a burden and a weird thing incapable of belonging. With you he doesn't feel like that because you know him.
That's the reason why, when Jake said that horrible thing "You brought shame to this family", you almost heard your best friend's heart breaking. A small silence between Jake, Neytiri, Neteyam and you was enough to remember one of all the times when he came to you trying to feel better after an argument with his dad.
When you were kids he would find it difficult to be vulnerable in front of you or expose that he needed some type of physical contact to feel better, since he felt that he had to be a great little warrior in front of you so that you wouldn't make fun of him. But the first time he fell off a tree (when Spider, Lo'ak and you were trying to grab some fruits) you quickly managed to hug him and put his head on your neck, stroking his hair to calm him down while Spider went to look for Jake. Since then Lo'ak was sure you would always be there for him, no matter how vulnerable he can be.
One day, at 12 years old, you were searching for materials to make new matching beads for Lo'ak and you. The sound of the river didn't let you hear your friend approaching. He scared you when you turned around and saw him a few steps behind you.
"Skxawng, you scared me." You laughed. When he didn't make fun of you, you notice the way he was looking down, trying to hide a few tears.
"What's wrong?" You asked, worried.
"My... my dad." He cringed at his own broken voice. "Ugh, never mind. It's ridiculous, always the same bullshit.
"No, no. Lo'ak, whatever you are feeling is valid. Come here, you wanna talk about it?”
Both of you sit next to the river, with a basket full of materials behind you. You embraced him and he let himself cry on your shoulder. "I was just trying to help. Neteyam was bringing this huge animal for the meal, I tried to help him, but I slipped. l couldn't grab anything to stop my fall because of the huge animal and I ended up stepping on my brother's bow," You grabbed his hand and squeezed it trying to comfort him. "Neteyam wasn't even mad, he knew it was an accident, but my dad told me that l had to be more careful, that it was my fault if Neteyam couldn't hunt in a few days because he had to make a new bow. He can hunt with his knife! But it's always my fault in my father's eyes, as if I don't know that l always mess up things.” He sighted. "He said.. yelled that if l wasn't able to help, I had better not get in the way.”
That broke your heart. Lo’ak was a bit of a rebel and curious soul, and sometimes he could get in trouble because of that (because he wanted to show people that he was good enough in many aspects), but he never had bad intentions.
Maybe to other people he didn't care when he was scolded and apparently just got mad and defensive, but you knew he was sensitive too.
"Okay. Maybe your dad is stress right now. You know that recently the clan have had problems hunting enough for the meals." Lo'ak nodded. "However, that's not an excuse for treating you like that."
When he calmed down, he lay down looking at you with red puffy eyes. You tried your best to make him laugh by splashing a little bit of water to his face.
"Don't worry, we are gonna go hunt together and help Neteyam to make a new bow."
"Deal."
"Can I go now?" Your best friend asked.
“Any more trouble, I jerk a knot in your tail. You read me?” Jake asked while you cringed at the fact that he still thought his sons were little soldiers.
“Yes, sir. Lima Charlie.” Lo'ak was giving him an ‘I don't give a fuck’ attitude, just like every time he just wanted to stay away from his father.
“Go on.” Jake said after giving him another scolding look.
You followed Lo’ak, watching his tail swing angrily. You bit your tongue trying to control the disgust you were feeling towards the na'vi that always gave you a sweet pat on your head every time you felt down. Because it was unfair the way Mr. Sully treated Kiri, Tuk, and you with patience the days you guys were just not able to handle life, but he didn't let his sons explain when something didn't end up as expected.
All of the Sullys were so worried when Ao'nung told them that Lo'ak was nowhere to be found outside of the reef, but you almost had a panic attack in front of Neteyam because you would not be able to handle losing another friend. The burning pain of not knowing where or how Spider was was enough for your heart. So, of course, you weren't happy when you noticed the antipathy of Mr. and Mrs. Sully.
Your sweet touch helped Lo'ak to maintain himself calm, but your own calmness disappeared when you listened:
“Where were you?” it was Neytiri's voice.
«Oh, great mother, she did not just say that to Neteyam.»
“Yeah. What happened to ‘keep an eye on your brother’?”
“Sorry, sir.” the oldest Sully brother answered.
“No. Where were you?.” Your voice resonated between a heavy silence. Jake and Neytiri looked at you confused, Lo'ak turned around, thinking what he heard was a hallucination, and Neteyam was shocked.
“Excuse me?” Jake said, unhappy by your sudden disrespect.
“You are the parents, not Neteyam.” You repeat, starting to feel a little angry. “An older child is not supposed to be a third parent. You are the responsible ones for the security of your children.”
“You think I don't know that, y/n?”
“Well, sometimes it is not how it looks.”
“Y/n, I know I'm not your father, but you need to respect me. Especially when I-"
“Respect is something that is earned. And yes, I'm thankful for all the things you guys have done for me, but that doesn't mean I'm gonna pretend you are not being mean with your son.”
“Y/n, is not the right time...” Neteyam tried to talk to you.
“It is. All these years, I've been respectful about your parent technique, but I will not stand it anymore.” You got close to Jake. “You are understanding with Kiri, Tuk, and me while you are mean to Neteyam and Lo'ak, using the excuse that you are trying to protect them. But you don't act like a father. You act like a soldier who can not forget.”
“You don't know what you are talking about.”
“Maybe I don't know all the things you went through on Earth, and I'm not judging you because I know you were hurt too. But because you were hurt doesn't give you the right to hurt others! Especially when they are your family.” Lo'ak watched the way your tail swung side to side in an anxious move. “You don't think words can hurt? Because day after day I see one of the most important na’vi for me, thinking they are not good enough for anyone because of you, and thinking that they are not worth being loved.”
That made Neytiri flinch and look at her son with a hurt expression.
“Listen…” Jaks said after giving a quick peek to Lo'ak, who was now standing next to you.
“No! You listen, because you never do!” You weren't yelling, but your voice was loud enough to make Jake realise he had never seen you like that. “You don't know where Lo'ak was or how he ended up there. You can't tell me you believed what he said about Ao'nung trying to stop him.” Neteyam didn't know where all of the sudden confrontation came from, but deep down, he was a little bit happy that someone was telling his dad about the things he didn't see. “And still you don't let him explain what happened. You never listen when Neteyam tries to tell you things fail, not because he wasn't being responsible, but because he's still a kid, not an adult.”
Neytiri wasn't happy about your attitude, but seeing Lo'ak shocked made her realise that maybe all the things you were saying were somehow things Lo'ak (and Neteyam) wanted to say.
“We know you try to protect us, and you want us to be strong, but you forget that we are still kids. They need you as a dad, not a soldier. They need your love and comprehension. And yes, you need to scold them sometimes, but not make them feel unhappy with themselves.”
“That's not my intention” was all Jake could say.
“That's what you are doing.”
You sighted, tired of all the emotions you went through in just one day. You grabbed Lo'ak's hand and walked away, while Jake, Neytiri, and Neteyam admired the way their son and brother looked at you with pure love.
Lo'ak and you were sitting on a big rock, admiring the beautiful ocean and purple sky. Both of you haven't said anything since you arrived there, wanting to be left alone and in peace after the confrontation.
“You know you are incredible, right?” Lo'ak was the first one to break the silence.
“Yeah? Well, now your parents hate me.”
“I'm sure it will pass, Neteyam will help you.”
“And what about you? You're gonna leave me to die in your parent's hands?” I smiled a little bit.
“No, no. I will never do that.” He said, looking at you, almost directly to your soul. You didn't expect to feel nervous under his gaze, but his eyes were telling you a lot of things that he couldn't process into words. “Thank you.”
“You don't have to thank me, Lo’ak…”
“Y/n, thank you.” His fingers found your hand, so they started to caress your hand gently. “I admire you so much. Sometimes I don't know if I wanna be Neteyam or you.”
“You have to be your own person.” I grabbed his hand. “Because Lo'ak is just as perfect and enough. And I know that because I see you.” I said with a soft tone.
A shy but playful smile appeared on his face. He looked cute when he didn't dare to make eye contact with you for a few seconds.
“I see you.” He answered after looking at you again.

hi i have a request!!
lo’ak or neteyam taking care of sick human reader, and maybe they’re just like shocked at how easily humans can get sick, fussing over reader a little.
lmk what u think !
first request!!
Sick.
NETEYAM.s x gn!human!reader
LO’AK.s x gn!human!reader
summary , how the sully brothers would react to sick human reader.
a/n , idk why my layout is so messed up ughhh
You counted down the minutes you had been staying in the lab. Not only had you been sick for the third time this month, you’d also been made to stay in the lab with mostly avatars, and other human scientists of course.
As much as you appreciate their care, you can’t help but feel bored. With the absence of your friends and even anyone remotely your age, you sit aside in an unused room, not exactly sure on what it’s for, some scientists simply just left you there to quarantine for awhile.
You slump in the office chair, getting bored of rolling around back and forth across the room. And then, a voice sticks out to you and differentiates itself from the background noise.
“Where is she?”
“Neteyam?” That’s Norm, why’s Neteyam here though? You assumed he would be busy with training, and if not, why would he be thinking about you?
“Uh, they’re sick.” You missed a little bit of the conversation.
“Again?”
You strain your neck trying to get a glimpse of their figures, they both stand a few metres away, but still close enough for you to hear the conversation.
“Yea. Nothing too serious, but she’s just been tired, Jake figured she’d be more comfortable here.”
“Where are they?” Neteyams eyes wander the room filled of avatars. Norm looks towards your room, eyes locking to yours.
You squeak, immediately turning away at the thought of being caught eavesdropping, but you still pick up on the next few words.
“Over there, take your time.”
The footsteps coming towards you are immediately familiar. “You’re here again?”
With a turn of your office chair you face him. “Yea, almost a second home at this point.”
He sighs, and scans the room before sitting himself on a table close to you. “Why are you always so sick?”
You giggle. “Low immune system I guess.”
He gives you a look of confusion.
“Nevermind.” You continue. “Don’t think about it too much, I’m used to it now.”
“You shouldn’t have to be.”
Smiling at him, you slowly spin in your chair.
Neteyam watches you assumed, and suddenly brings the spinning to a stop once the chair is faced towards him, his hand resting above your head on the top of the chair.
Your face drops as he halts your movements. But with a quick look into his eyes you can tell he’s just being playfull.
Giggles fill the room, and later that day neteyam never left, opting to stay with you until you recovered.
And when your sickness finally ended, it was your turn to look after him in his marui.
Lo’ak sits beside you filled with boredom, a huff leaves his lips as he try’s to get some entertainment from the views outside the marui.
Because you were feeling unwell you weren’t exactly fit for Lo’aks adventures today.
You shuffle to turn around in the hammock. “Why don’t you just go out with Spider?”
He turns to look at you as his head tilts to rest on his knee, “Because.”
“…because?” You repeat, searching for an answer.
He huffs again, and you just smile, waiting for his answer teasingly. “Just because.” He sasses.
You groan, irritated you won’t get the satisfaction of a reply that would surely boost your ego.
“Stop getting sick all the time.” He continues to change the subject.
“I can’t help it.” You reply and raise your eyebrow as if it was obvious.
“It sucks when you’re sick, going out is never the same.” He complains.
“Aw.”
“Yea, I don’t have anyone to make fun of.” He teases.
“Oh wow, ruined the moment.” You sarcastically reply.
He groans, and melts to lay down on the floor beside your hammock, he stares at the ceiling of the marui as you turn more in your hammock to look down at him. “You shouldn’t stay here too long, I might get you sick.”
“That’s fine. Not gonna stop me from hanging out with you.”
“Nothing stops you.”
“Uh huh.” He smirks, shifting his gaze to you.
You can’t help but notice his tail beside his swaying happily. Despite his constant teasing towards you, it’s obvious he does enjoy being around you.
“Are humans always this sick, all the time?”
You think for a moment, “I think it’s just me, low immune system- that means I get sick a lot.”
“That sucks.” He groans, obviously irritated by your proneness to get sick.
“If I could, I’d be outside. Climbing a tree with you probably.” You comment.
“You know you can’t climb, you can’t even keep up with me on foot, small feet.” He chuckles at his own tease for you.
“Okay- uncalled for. So much for caring about the sick human here.” You sassily reply.
“Hey, I am caring for the sick human. You need your emotional support, right?”
“Ha ha, funny.” You roll your eyes, smirking and roll onto your back in your hammock.

Stories of the Sky People
Sully Family x GN!Dream Walker Reader (Platonic) | Word Count: 1209 Words
Synopsis: Tasked with watching the Sully kids while Jake and Neytiri are away leads (Y/n) to recite the ‘Ugly Duckling’ story by Hans Christian Anderson, one of their favourite stories back on Earth to keep the kids occupied until their parent return.
The reader is the same age as Jake.
I never knew my life would turn out like this, taken in by a world many light years away from my birthplace. I have finally found my place amongst the people of Pandora. In particular. In the embrace of the Sully family.
Back on Earth Jake and I were both marines. Him an ex-soldier since he became paralysed. And me? I was a Captain yet also resigned alongside Jake when I lost my leg from a mine.
It was tough for the both of us. But our injuries bound us together through the worst times in our lives. We quickly became like siblings to each other, and we mourned together when we got news that Tom was killed in action. That was when we were both requested to join the Avatar program. They needed Jake to pilot Tom’s avatar and my own avatar was approved to begin the growing process since they deemed me a suitable candidate to gain information on the Na’vi.
We had nothing left to loose, so we signed the papers without hesitation and began our new lives.
That leaves us with today, I sat in the family home with Tuktiery in my lap. Kiri sitting to my left, Lo’ak to my right, Neteyam sitting cross legged in front of me and Spider laid beside Neteyam. I was one their own, like an Auntie/Uncle to the young Na’vi. I made jokes and orchestrated pranks on their Father just to see Jake flick me the finger as we all ran from the scene of the crime.
“So, what happened then? Tuk gasped her yellow eyes wide with wonder.
“The Mother duck came to realise that one of her babies didn’t look like the rest, they were grey and much larger than their tiny yellow siblings. Yet that didn’t matter to her. She leads all the babies into the water watching them swim along with her, even the grey baby. The mother was happy that her grey baby swam like the rest and thought to herself “Why, that's no turkey," she said. "See how nicely he uses his legs, and how straight he holds himself. He's my very own son after all, and quite good-looking if you look at him properly. Quack, quack come with me. I'll lead you out into the world and introduce you to the duck yard.” My quaking impression got a chuckle out of the kids as my smile also grew at their happiness.
All the Sully Children were wrapped up in the story, maybe it resonated with them in a sense. Being half human and half Na’vi, well in Spider’s case, a human amongst the Na’vi. Feeling like an outlier in their clan.
“The Mother duck’s friends complimented all of her children yet insulted the grey duckling, the grey duckling was pecked at and shunned by all the different animals, the other ducks, the hens, the humans. So, when he grew up, he left.”
A gasp left the five children at this twist.
“Oh no! Poor grey duckling!” Tuk whimpered. I ran my hand up and down her back in a comforting manner.
“The story isn’t over yet Tuk.” I stated with a smile as I continued, “The grey duckling flew away from his Mother, sick of the treatment from all the other animals. He then found his way to a lake that had elegant white swans. The grey duckling said to himself "I shall fly near these royal birds, and they will peck me to bits because I, who am so very ugly, dare to go near them. But I don't care. Better be killed by them than to be nipped by the ducks, pecked by the hens, kicked about by the hen-yard girl, or suffer such misery in winter."
“The poor grey duckling thought himself as ugly because that was all anyone, but his mother had told him. But in fact, he was quite wrong. As he lands in the clear waters exclaiming to the beautiful swans to kill him, he bowed his head and caught his reflection. He was no longer the reflection of a clumsy, dirty, grey bird. He himself was a swan! Being born in a duck yard does not matter, if only you are hatched from a swan's egg.”
“He was praised by the other swans and the other animals of the yard. He felt so very happy, but he wasn't at all proud, for a good heart never grows proud. He thought about how he had been persecuted and scorned, and now he heard them all call him the most beautiful of all beautiful birds. He sang out "I never dreamed there could be so much happiness, when I was the ugly duckling."
“Awwwwww~” Kiri cooed, “I’m glad the duck- I mean swan had a happy ending.”
Tuktiery had a big smile on her face as the conclusion of the story. Neteyam had a warm look in his eyes and Lo’ak lent back on his hands with a smile on his own face. Spider has a grin on his as he looked to the woven floors.
“I loved that story when I was little, Mum used to read it to me every night” Jake stated with a warm smile recalling his memories, as he entered the home alongside Neytiri. I gesture to them ‘I see you’ and the kids quickly follow suit, as Jake and Neytiri sign back.
“Got into any trouble when we were gone (Y/n)?” Neytiri asked with a smirk on her face.
I gasp in mock horror. “Me Neytiri? Never” I said with my own smirk. “I was just telling the kids some of the stories from Earth.”
“Yes Mum! (Y/n) always has cool stories from the sky!” Tuktiery excitedly stated, yet stifling a yawn.
“Earth, baby. We came from Earth.” I correct.
“Yeah, Earth!” Tuk giggled.
“That was a wonderful story (Y/n), thank you for sharing it with us” Neteyam thanked with a warm smile and nod.
“No worries Neteyam, anytime.” I smile as I lean forward to ruffle his hair dragging a laugh from him.
“I think it’s time for bed, I think” Jake says as he watches Tuk drift in and out of sleep in my arm. This gets a hum of acknowledgement from Neytiri and I as we all move into bed. Jake gently pries Tuk from my arms as she settles quickly into her Father’s arms. Jake lays down in the middle, Neytiri to his right and me to the left. Kiri curls up by my side as Neteyam cuddles with his Mum and Spider wedges his way in-between Jake and I, that’s when Lo’ak decided to lounge across everyone gaining a groan from all of us.
“Lo’ak move your butt!” Spider groans and he kicks Lo’ak in the shin.
“Owwwww! Spider lay off!” Lo’ak wines yet doesn’t move an inch.
“Enough boys!” Jake scolds through his teeth, trying to keep Tuktiery asleep. That was enough to get Lo’ak to move and let poor Spider breathe.
“Sleep.” Neytiri states with her eyes shut.
I could only smile at Neytiri’s blunt parenting style.
“Sweet dreams everyone.” I murmur.
“Goodnight.” The Sully’s reply before we all fell into the embrace of sleep.
I would do anything to protect this family.

Taglist: @mooniequeen
A/N: So, nonny, you put in 65 twice and I wasn't sure if you only meant to write it once or if you meant to write 66, so I just assumed and wrote 66 because I personally love that prompt and I am also a Star Wars nerd (if you get the reference, I fucking love you). Enjoy!

From the moment you met Lo'ak,Awa'atlu was doomed.
It wasn't every day two troublemakers found each other, but when you and Lo'ak established your shared love for mischief, it was silently agreed upon that you were going to become partners in crime.
After realizing he had made a new friend among the Metkayina, Lo'ak initially thought about how he couldn't wait to tell Spider about you with the childlike hope that he would see his human friend again. You were fun and overly curious, wanting to know everything about Omatikaya culture to compare the differences with your own clan's. Lo'ak easily opened up and got more comfortable in his new home because of you, always asking him about the world he came from. He thrived in Metkayina culture, thanks to Tsireya's teachings and your enthusiasm to show him all your favorite places among the reef. Lo'ak had progressed and learned faster than even Neteyam, but not that his father realized this. Instead, Jake worried about the amount of trouble Lo'ak was getting himself into and not his son's progress in becoming Metkayina.
But you could See Lo'ak, especially after he had bonded with Payakan. You saw how far the forest boy had come living among your people and you felt so proud and honored to be someone he trusted, dare I say someone he loved. Sure, it was a young, innocent love, but love, nevertheless. The two of you knew something was there, underneath the surface, after becoming friends so quickly after the Sully family moved to Awa'atlu. What was first misinterpreted as platonic love was quickly realized to be something more than that.
Spider made sure to tease the Hell outta Lo'ak once he realized this as well. He had joined the Sully family on the reef after being rescued from the Sky People, and after hearing so many stories, you instantly befriended the human teen as well, much to everyone's dismay. They already had to deal with you and Lo'ak as a dynamic duo, they couldn't bear a third. Luckily, you and Lo'ak were so busy showing Spider around the island that you barely had time to cause trouble, though there were nights when the three of you had been gone from home for far too long, and that alone got you in trouble.
In return for showing him so much from your world, Lo'ak decides one of these late nights to show you a part of his. Asking Spider to cover for him, the Na'vi boy takes you into the jungle, alone, and leads you to his ikran to make introductions. At first, you were hesitant to approach this creature but under Lo'ak's presence, you felt safe, and eventually, you were comfortable enough for Lo'ak to take you flying with him. Without warning, he had his hands planted firmly on your waist and lifted you up onto the banshee's saddle, his strength startling you out of the awestruck expression you bore whilst you were petting the ikran. He smirks knowingly at the sight of your surprised appearance before forming tsaheylu with the ikran and hopping up to sit behind you, silently instructing his steed to take flight.
You flew for a while, clinging to Lo'ak's arm as a form of security, the wind in your face and hair, making up for your breath being taken away by the view. Eventually, you felt cold and so Lo'ak had his ikran float back down, landing on the very top of a cliff's edge, overlooking a beautiful waterfall, spilling down to a small, bioluminescent lagoon located in the middle of the island. Lo'ak hops off the ikran first before helping you back down, hands back around your waist and this time, finding a more permanent home there. Sitting down on the edge of the cliff, legs dangling over the waterfall, Lo'ak keeps his arms wrapped around your form as the two of you talk about anything and everything, until you pause, tilting your head at him with your eyes observing his face when something had caught your eye.
He huffs a small laugh, likely nervous under such an intense gaze, "What is it?"
"I can't decide if your markings look like a tulkun or an ikran," you admit, one hand lifting up to trace the pattern of darker blue trailing down his forehead. You smile, mainly to yourself, "It is very fitting for you."
The praise definitely affected Lo'ak by the way his ears and tail twitched, a small laugh leaving your lips at the adorable sight. Lo'ak's eyes briefly widen then refocus, a fang slowly glinting in the moonlight as he forms a smirk. He ducks his head to hide away in the crook of your neck and you laugh knowing he was feeling a little flustered and embarrassed.
His voice drops into a whisper as if there was still someone around who could hear. A quiet conversation that not even Eywa could be a part of, "You'll be facing your tsurak trial tomorrow."
"Mm hm," you hummed, reaching your hand to cup the back of his neck, "You sound worried."
"Of course not, just nervous for you, since you're confident enough on your own."
"Are you gonna be there to watch me?"
"Of course."
"Promise?" You smirk while lifting the smallest finger on your hand, offering it to him. He snorts with amusement and lifts his own hand up to yours, holding out the extra finger on his hand, his pinky finger. What he once thought was an abomination of his form was something that fascinated you, so when he explained what a pinky promise was, you were delighted at the thought or idea of it. You insisted that the pinky promise should be yours and Lo'ak's thing here on Pandora where no one else understands it other than the few Sky People residing with the Omatikaya.
He linked his pinky with your smallest finger, pulling your hand until your knuckles brushed his lips, "Promise."
You positively beam before leaning your face closer to his, smiling mischievously, "Kiss for luck?"
Lo'ak laughs, a slight tease in his voice, "Those are quite the demands."
He doesn't even finish the sentence, however, as he leans down and captures your lips with his before your responding laugh can bubble out. It was a deep kiss-- as if Lo'ak was trying to leave a lasting imprint of himself with you or vice versa. You didn't complain, closing your eyes and softly gliding your lips against his. Being a Metkayina, you were not one to be short of breath, and Lo'ak was a fast learner and was much of the same.
Eventually, Lo'ak gently pulls away, his hands now resting on either side of your face and when he realizes this, he traces your glowing spots with his thumb as he smiles softly at you through his lashes, "Anything else, sweetheart?"
You made a point to obnoxiously think about it before giving in, shaking your head and snuggling further into the forest boy for warmth, "No. This is enough for me."
He plants another kiss on the top of your head before helping you settle more comfortably. You sit like that for a while, quietly listening to the sounds of nature all around you through one ear and his wild heartbeat with the other.
Lo'ak tilts his head up at the sky and gently squeezes your body, "When I finish my own trials, I wanna show you my home. You'll love the Omatikaya and you have to meet my grandmother. She would definitely take you under her wing and show you more about our culture."
You smiled while closing your eyes, your mind drifting off to what you imagined was the forest where your young lover grew up in, basing your imagination on all the stories he shared with you, "Is that another promise, Ma Lo'ak?"
"Absolutely. The most important one."
~~~~~~~~~
A/N: I saw a picture of Lo'ak and made a little "hm. his forehead stripes look like a tulkun" and when I looked it up, I discovered I wasn't the only one who realized this. Inspo post here!
