"look, if i was going to stalk you -- which i'm not, i'd be better at not getting caught. however, i was attempting to make my presence very clear. hence you catching me, and the actual stalker getting away unscathed, because they were good at it -- well, good at not getting noticed by you, at least." even he can tell what it sounds like, and he kicks himself for it. last time he ever does a good deed, it only ever caused him more trouble than it was worth. "i'm not stalking you!"

lonny had always gotten by under the radar. unlike his older brother, he wasn't popular and he didn't have an ounce of charisma that anyone who supposedly mattered was attracted to. that had always suited him just fine. he didn't like attention, and he was glad to disappear under the massive shadow that elio had inadvertantly left for him. it's why his situation with darcy had been so unexpected. for a while now, he'd been just fine with being her little secret. if anything, it was an attractive premise, but there were some thoughts now, lurking beneath the surface, threatening to expose themselves at any moment. in the way his heart dropped a little when she so expertly handed him a note without those around them suspecting a thing, how she'd become a professional at making it seem like they meant nothing to one another. though, the more he thought about it, the less he was convinced that it was actually an act. there's a moment where he contemplates going, but he's being foolish because he's weak, particularly when it comes to her. without a word, he trails off towards the lecture hall. excitement overpowering every slight concern he might have, as he opens the door and walks right in.

She knew this was a bad idea, even though they weren't kids anymore reputations still mattered and Lonny wasn't exactly the kind of guy that you bragged about. Normally, Darcy wouldn't have cared all that much but she'd finally gotten the other guys in her law classes to stop making dumb fucking jokes and this might put that at risk. But...she couldn't stop. After a rousing class where she was quick on her feet and looked incredibly good to their professor, she walked past where Lonny was sitting and passed him a note - meet me in the south lecture hall in ten. Would it have been easier to meet him in her dorm? Yeah but that meant her roommates might catch on and Darcy couldn't have that. Instead, she gave him a knowing look before walking out, heading directly to the lecture hall that she knew would be empty for the next hour at least.
