When Brokenness & Beauty Collide
Last night I was at the pool with my fam We were all swimming and jumping and enjoying everyday family life. The girls were doing synchronized back flips and one of them hit me dead in the face. Yea that was fun… Ok moving on to today’s devotional. I have been trying harder to post less recently to really try to grasp what I am learning along this new journey. So If I skip days of posting know that it is because I am reading reflecting.
What I really took away from last night was I was swimming floating upside down and remembering when my Grandfather Kenneth Cossairt taught me how to do that when I was very young in fact I think when he took me to Hawaii I was around 5 years old. I still have those memories very vividly. I learned how to swim on back in Hawaii and I watched him pass away of Lukemia many years later and I stood in the cold hospital room as he took his last couple of breathes I touched his hand as he went to be with the Lord. I remember looking up at the stars last night and wondering if my Grandfather smiles down from heaven on the women I have become in and through my children and my marriage.
I honestly didn’t think I would ever open up about this much of my childhood or my Grandfather and his death on my blog. But I do know that today it relates to a number of things at this time in History. So here is what I walk away doing every single day. Digging deeper into what God is teaching, teaching it to my children and holding on to the anchor of Hope.
Right now I feel like removing layers of the walls that have surrounded my heart and share with you piece by piece how the Lord has and still is transforming my life. There are about a million ways we can relate one event in our life to the bible and it does come very naturally to me to do that. I don’t always use the spiritual gift of writing because I do believe it is a gift and I don’t want to over or misuse it. But seriously I think I can turn two rocks into a gospel message in about 3 seconds flat. lol
This summer series was amazing… I encourage you to check it out! http://social.cccm.com/2015-conference.html
