Eh, is it really such a vital component what type of love we're talking about? Romantic love or familial love, it feels like it's irrelevant to the narrative of "I relate to you because someone you love betrayed you." Of course they come with different nuances, but why would one ruin the other.

Like there's something inherently dirtier attached to romantic love that can mire "purer" forms of love when placed next to each other.

You can love someone in countless different ways, and someone can betray you in countless different ways. It's still about love and betrayal.
