Halfway through the newest Warriors book and I just wanna make my predictions for/get my thoughts out on the arc’s main mystery aka What the fuck is going on in RiverClan. This was gonna be a thread on Twitter, but I remembered it would be near impossible to find the thread in the future cuz Twitter is crumbling.

Obviously gonna talk spoilers, so big ol’ spoiler warning for Shadow (up to chapter 14).

Some things may also be wrong as I don’t want to fact check on the wikia in case I spoil myself for the rest of the book lol

While it has been officially confirmed yet, it is very clear that there is a group within RiverClan who wanted Curlfeather (or someone from the group) to become deputy/leader. And to become deputy, they had to dispose of Reedwhisker which they did by assassinating him at the ravine. As of Shadow Chapter 12, the group seems to at least consist of Splashtail, Duskfur, and Mallownose. Curlfeather was absolutely a major player prior to her death at the end of River too.

Obviously, their plan has done almost nothing but fall down several flight of stairs thus far--Mistystar died before she could pick a new deputy, Curlfeather died before obtaining her nine lives, Owlnose backed out of becoming leader with Splashtail as his deputy, and now Frostpaw has stopped being a medicine cat apprentice. unless mistystar dying was part of the plan as duskfur was the one to piss mistystar off so bad she had a heart attack and died

Their motive is not clear yet but I suspect that the group are against the new rule in the Warrior Code and they wanted to place cats on their side into RiverClan’s leading roles (deputy, leader, medicine cat) so they could challenge the other clans about the new rule??????? This doesn’t make too much sense to me, as Reedwhisker died very soon after the rule was officially added to the code and the group’s plans seems to have been in the works since Frostpaw was a young kit at the very least. But this is Warriors and the current writing team is absolute ass at keeping timelines consistent so they might have just forgor lol

However, we’ve also got Berryheart and her group in ShadowClan who seemingly also played a part and their whole thing is hating the new rule. I have no idea why they’d help in the RiverClan plot, but that moment in River with Lightleap makes it seem that someone from ShadowClan was involved long before Tigerheartstar “took over” RiverClan at the end of Sky.

Honestly, my only wish for Ash’s farewell tour is that they don’t make any Ash ship canon, which includes making the new girl protag Ash’s offspring.

As much as I draw Ash being gay as fuck, ship wars are absolutely fucking exhausting and I don’t want that shit anywhere near Ash and Pikachu’s finale. The show (as well as the franchise in general) has never been truly about romance--it’s about friendship and bonds with Pokémon.

And let’s be honest here, queerphobic fans would have a fucking field day rubbing “ash is canonically straight” in pro-queer Ash fans’ faces and I don’t want to deal with that bullshit.

Trying for the millionth time to write out the Galar arc timeline and started thinking about Skye’s relationship with his extended family and wroah, it fucking sucks.

While he has bio family by the truck load, a notable amount of them are either bigoted towards him or tolerant towards the bigotry. (Not saying that they are just bigots and that’s their whole character--most of them just dunno how the fuck to deal or understand their weird mentally queer black sheep so they come off as nothing but terrible people. ya’ll can understandably hate them for it tho, skye sure does lmao).

For the longest while, I’ve been wondering why the Skye in my head was so uncomfortable in being a part of the whole Alola family thing. It’s because he doesn’t see family (outside of his mons, his parents, and brother) as a good thing. Dude has a major quantity over quality problem.

Thinking about this kinda makes me wonder if its more in-character for Skye to take Ash’s surname, rather than have the double-barrel name they’ve got...

To give a short rundown, the encounter between Ash and Gladion from SM047 is the same except that Ash makes Gladion aware of Skye and Alexander. After they have their battle and chat, Gladion asks Ash to get Skye to meet with him the next day in the same place.

Skye meets Gladion and they have a somewhat similar conversation Gladion had with Ash but with an added stand off involving Gladion wanting Skye to give Alexander back and Skye refusing (and Aleaxander wanting to stay with Skye) but here is my struggle moment--

I’m not sure if Gladion would tell Skye where the Type: Null come from and who made them. He only tells Ash that “he can’t give him the details” and Ash accepts that--but Skye wouldn’t take that as an answer. He would demand Gladion tell him everything he knows so that he knows exactly who he needs to brutally murder.

I understand why he wouldn’t tell Ash about Silvally’s origins (he is an aloof dude after all, he wanna deal with his own problems by himself), but Skye is a part of the problem now and it’d feel kinda negligent on Gladion’s part to leave Skye in the dark about Alexander’s origins.

But if he did tell Skye, that would mean Skye would learn about the Aether Foundation being up to shady shit way too early into the story and I dunno how to go about dealing with that lksdjf plotting out shit is messy
