Me reading far too much into the notion that Cindy’s mom didn’t take the Sophiar name after marriage and that it’s possible that "Mid” actually took her name: What if the Aurum name is from nobility or even a lesser noble ‘house’ ? 

Considering that Aurum is Latin for ‘Gold’ and Keycatrich was where the pronominally wealthy & famous people lived and coupling with my personal headcanon of the extended family actually being from Accordo/Altissia from a lineage of well-known artisans.
