i remember seeing a post about books a while ago so i just wanted to ask what book(s) are you currently reading? and any interesting book recs?

Hi! I'm technically between books right now. Yesterday I finished reading Nabokov's Lolita for the first time — so, much to think about. I also enjoyed J.L. Carr's A Month in the Country as a recent one-day read. Fantastic if you're drawn to brief novels and lush, atmospheric prose.

My recommendations would depend on what you're looking for!

I can recommend Suzette Mayr's The Sleeping Car Porter as another lushly written novel, with interesting bends to narrative and formal conventions. Charlotte Bronte's Villette is yet another novel of great interest - to me, at least - but a bit longer.

If you're looking for something closer to non-fiction, I can recommend The Periodic Table by Primo Levi. I found it especially illuminating as someone with very limited knowledge of chemistry. Also - any books to do with phrenology, I find highly interesting and recommend!
