Meaning of card (reversed: some of the cards are reversed because tarot cards have different meanings when they’re pulled out of the deck & are upside down): trickery, illusions, out of touch~

trickery suits him p well imo lol.... *eyes emoji* he’s definitely one of the most interesting characters tbh... & I kinda love that we don't get a lot of answers around him (idk if the novel explains it more? I hope not lol) 

his symbols are the nie clan’s mountains, his fan (which has a sorta confused weather? since I wanted it to be like... a distraction? & a reference to his ‘head shaker’ title lol), the lil bird he sneaks into class that one time (it was a pain trying to find a ref of the actual scene anywhere fsr??? so it’s just a generic Bird, whereas I think the actual bird was a canary maybe?? I know it doesn't matter but I got v annoyed about it fsr lool) his sky is an eclipse.... or at least, it’s supposed to be lol... it was hella difficult to draw & make it look good but yeh, essentially an eclipse is the overlap of day & night (or, at least the sun & moon lol), so more of that sense of covering up/deception/confusion/mystery lol... also morally grey ideas? idk hopefully that makes sense lol

& u may also notice his fan is covering the circle, similar to jin guangyao’s... my idea was to have this link them as two ‘masterminds’, who are like coming out of the card in a way? (there’s this beautiful work by rembrandt where the woman’s hand is on the frame, as if she’s about to walk out of the painting?? idk I thought it was cool lol...)

Jin Ling = Wheel of Fortune~

Meaning of card (reversed: some of the cards are reversed because tarot cards have different meanings when they’re pulled out of the deck & are upside down): no control, clinging to control, bad luck~

no one is really as unlucky as jin ling lbr lol... the poor boy really had a lot of crap thrown at him from such a young age lol... (i swear all the cards aren’t reversed lol... it’s just that so much of the meanings of certain cards suit the characters a lot better upside down lol... (even if it might look the cards look kinda awkward?? idkk...)

his symbolism is similar to his father’s, i.e. the jiang lotus’ and the jin peonies lol... i also had to include fairy there (tho i’m not v good at drawing animals so sorry if he looks bad lol...), i also gave him his father’s sword (it has a name i’m just but i can’t remember it lol...)... & as for his sky, i was really wondering how the hell i was gonna make his card have a ‘wheel of fortune spin to it lol so the sun is the ‘wheel’ (a compass like thing that’s on the original card) & i tried to make the cards like a schrödinger’s cat situ where they’re halfway between good and bad weather? sorta his luck being turned around u know?
