Pictured here are #mammatus clouds -- which form when cold air within the cloud sinks toward Earth, creating rounded, smooth and pouch-like shapes on the underside. While mammatus clouds often accompany severe thunderstorms, the clouds themselves are harmless and usually form after a storm has passed.
