that reminds me though. How so many people often WILL treat Eric like he's not a human. They treat him like this unmoving force of nature. I know I've talked about it about a million times already but like. Fucking Ginger Cow is the best example of this.
It's so disturbing to me how everyone treats Cartman like a thing that will just do regardless of their actions, that they're helpless to whatever he's up to- And in that case, that Kyle is helpless to it. When they finally find out what Cartman has been up to, why Kyle has behaved in the horrifying way he's been being forced to, Eric is completely ignored in favor of picking on Kyle for not handling things perfectly well. That part is another conversation entirely in itself but just... Focusing back on Eric, it really shows you how little anyone sees a point in going back at him. It's kind of depressing that they've just been conditioned to accept and adapt around him rather than trying to change him as the source for all of these bad things. It's so enabling.
And then that's where Kyle comes in, unable to fall in line like everyone else and refusing to give up in trying to stop Eric from whatever bullshit he's up to because Eric IS just a human, a fallible human and Kyle knows that. And yet so often Kyle still suffers and is cut back down, and has only really gotten Eric more fixated on him as something to play with/torment/fight.
IDK, I'm rambling. God, it really is such a disturbing and depressing dynamic they all live in.
