Indexing due for #davidbowieandromanticism today. Final grades due too :). My eyes are bleeding. I am chained to my desk today, all day. Things went south after an initial warm reception for #neverletmedown, and by that point David Bowie had become sick of being David Bowie. He was sick of the commercialism and the way things were going for reception of his music. So he tossed it all and joined a band, #tinmachine, and a band that was truly run democratically. He wasn’t in charge of this. His new guitar player, one who had maybe the longest continual run in Bowie‘s career, and I think the only one who actually quit on him, #reevesgabrels, joined with rhythm section players #huntsales and #tonysales whom #bowie we had met up with during collaborations with @iggypop to create with Bowie a real rock band. I would say the Tin Machine albums were received even worse than anything else Bowie did in the 80s. But retrospectively, I wish more people would give this #slbum more credit as an early #grunge album, one that was a bit more experimental than most other bands during this period largely due to Gabrels - it almost mixes grunge and industrial, and and this is in #1989. Hardly sold and Bowie fans mostly hated it, but he was doing new music again. Bowie never looked back on this. In any interview I’ve ever read negatively, however. He said it was great for him and absolutely necessary to get him started again, and it certainly did that, because he had a massive creative output in the #1990s. Hunt and Tony sales, by the way, are actually the sons of comedian #soupysales, which means they were both Americans and totally freaking psycho. From North Carolina, he is most noted for his TV and Radio Personalities. His most notable work was on the Children’s television show “Lunch with Soupy Sales’’ which aired from 1953 - 1966. He earned a Masters degree in Journalism at Marshall College in West Virginia. He worked in his elder years in other TV shows and Radio Broadcasts. In New York, he had his own show that aired between Imus in the morning and Howard Stern in the afternoon. He carried very strange relationships with the two. His sons are notable rock musicians, Tony Sales and Drummer Hunt Sales who was in the band Tin Machine with David Bowie.

Fully into the #90s now with #davidbowie #tinmachine #tinmachine2 #1991 Yet another #album slammed by critics, and many listeners deeply hated it at the time. #chrisolesry’s #ashestoashes said that as of the time of his writing, it was the only #bowie #album out of print. I’m happy to report that changed with this beautiful @musiconvinyl #2020 release in #coloredvinyl that I picked up from @parkavecds Bowie made this album with new guitarist #reevesgabrels and the sons of disgraced #70s comic #soupysales, #huntsales and #tonysales on bass and drums.
