Wait hang on what's really up with Kieran?!

I know other people must have made this connection already, but I just put it together now.

Flemeth was "possessed" by a fragment of Mythal, in much the same sense that Anders was "possessed" by Justice — aka they basically merged into one person, right? (At least that's how I interpreted the Flemythal situation.) And Mythal was able to do that because the Evanuris were originally spirits, and she returned to a fragmented spirit-form when she died.

I already knew all that, I just never took it to it's logical conclusion specifically where it concerns Kieran.

Urthemiel — aka the archdemon of the Fifth Blight aka the Old God Soul inside Kieran — was really a thrall bound to one of the Evanuris (June, iirc). Who is "reincarnated" as Kieran when you kill the archdemon, assuming you have Morrigan do the Dark Ritual.

Kieran wasn't literally an Old God/Elven God in baby form, was he? "Soul" is a misnomer, here. Kieran was like Anders — a person merged with a spirit...

Which, in this case, was a spirit so ancient and powerful that two separate empires at different points in history worshiped him as a god, and the merging happened in the womb when Morrigan used the Dark Ritual (which she learned from Flemeth/Mythal's grimoire, notably) to draw a shattered fragment of said spirit into fetus!Kieran. Kinda like Solas drew the fragment of Mythal out of the dagger, only with less sex magic. Probably.

Kieran's bird form

Specifically my headcanon version of Kieran. I didn't want to just have him shapeshift into a crow like his mom, because why do that when I could spend hours researching specific bird behaviors instead? :)

Anyway, Kieran is an Asian Koel:

Similarities between the two:

Fancy Lads

Black and red color scheme

Striking eye color (not yellow on the bird, but still)

Unusual habits (unlike other species in the same family, the bird eats mainly fruit as an adult, and the Kieran has Morrigan as a mom, with all the personality quirks that come with it)

Solitary creatures

But more importantly:

Koels are brood parasites — aka a type of cuckoo bird, which lay their eggs in other birds' nests.

This species in particular is known to use crows as host nests to raise their young, possibly because they look so alike.

Which seemed fitting for a former Old God Baby!
