shy shy photoshoot trip - day 0
Woke at 7am to start getting ready to fly off! :) Arranged for a car to pick us at 7:45am (Snowy and family was late!) We reached Terminal 1 of the airport at 8:15am due to super smooth traffic and we went to kaffe&toast for some breakfast.
I had Set D, which consisted of an English muffin with cheese and ham and an ice Milo (super yum!). The place was crowded and a little dirty though :( was worried I would dirty my Keds, which I had decided to bring at the last moment. Mummy and daddy ate mee rebus and mee siam but they said it wasn’t nice.
Snowy arrived at 8:35am (late :p) and we met his family at Row 12 to check-in our luggage. The queue was pleasantly short :) Halfway through queuing, mummy and I spotted a Gligar ;_; but the couple in front was having trouble with their luggage and we couldn’t go :( *sob*
When it was (finally) our turn, my luggage was only 7kg :D snowy’s was 9kg because he vainy pots and brought many things (he says “whaaaaaaaaat”)
We proceeded to the Departure Lounge where an annoying lady accused me of holding up the queue -.- daddy and snowy’s mummy somehow are never able to smoothly scan their thumbprints.
After they were done, we headed straight to Gate 49, where there was a loooooong queue. After the customary toilet trip, we excitedly boarded the Philippines airline plane (our fingers were crossed the whole time).
I got to take the window seat (snowy never has a chance when he’s with me) but it was very glaring after a while so I lowered the blinds. It was very hot until snowy realised we could open the nozzle to allow more cold air out -.- they offered two options for lunch:
1. Black pepper chicken with fried rice
2. Some kind of pork belly (*vomits*) with white rice
(One guess what I chose :p snowy chose the same!)
We touched down at Terminal 2 of Mabuhay airport quite punctually and the journey was thankfully very smooth despite our previous reservations about this particular airline.
The Philippines airport is...small. We couldn’t find the transit lounge initially, but a kind person led us there through a secret passageway. Once there, we had about three hours before our next flight. Snowy naturally got greedy and wanted to look for food during our repeated (and somewhat paranoid) checking of the flight timing. We finally bought a bacon and cheese sausage cup (they accept SGD!). Watching the lady prepare it, we realised they simply used one sausage and cut it into pieces (why was it more expensive than the hot dog bun?) When we ate it, this was our face:
SO. salty. We couldn’t (and didn’t want to) finish the bacon, and we spent the remaining time chatting (our parents got along quite well ^^)
The next flight was somewhat delayed but when we finally took off, our dinner was once again one of two options:
1. chicken in some kind of spicy sauce
2. pork stroganoff
Snowy chose the pork this time. We sat in separate rows this time as it was three by three. I did Word Search with mummy until I had a headache and went to sleep.
At last, around 8:55, we touched down in Taoyuan airport! The queue to cross customs was so short compared to the time we went in June 2015 and we got across in no time at all :o
We took a bus from the airport to Taipei station. The journey was very smooth, roughly 45 minutes. The tickets weren’t very expensive (TWD480?) but the coach bus was really comfy! It had USB charging points, though mine wasn’t working -.-, and when they dimmed the lights, I really could fall asleep! Along the way, we sighted a brightly lit France Paris shop and it looked really nice. I was so excited and nervous, but I later realised it wasn’t the same France Paris shop.
Upon alighting, we quickly dragged our luggages over to the accommodation for the night. The rooms we got were 1825 and 1621. The overall quality of the room was to be expected for the price. It was very much like a student hostel; the toilets were somewhat dingy and the beds were way too soft, but it was okay for just one night.
Airplane fare just wasn’t satisfying enough, so we headed to the alleyway behind the hotel to grab a bite. We chanced upon some potstickers and bought 20 of them (they were small, don’t judge). We headed across the road and ordered beef udon, seafood udon (much to my chagrin and snowy’s delight) and assorted fried rice. The food was decent but could have been tastier.
Before long, we headed back to our rooms. After a bath, and some delays due to mummy forgetting where she’d packed their toothbrushes (they were in the outside zip the whole time), we finally collapsed into bed at 1am.
