Tower of Dawn Chapter 59:
🚨spoiler alert🚨
A naval battle. Aelin against Maeve. He waited for the dangling sword to drop. If he had been too late--
Aelin--thank the gods Aelin had managed to find a way-- "Though there were some interesting details." Then the princess rattled off the facts. The numbers. A third of Maeve's armada, bearing Whitethorn flags, had turned on their own and joined Terrasen's fleet. Dorian had fought--held the front lines with Rowan. Then a pack of wyverns had soared in from nowhere--to fight for Aelin.
Manon Blackbeak. Chaol would be willing to bet his life that some-how, either through Aelin or Dorian, that witch had done them a favor, and possibly altered the course of this war.
"The magic, they say, was impressive," Hasar went on. "Ice and wind and water." Dorian and Rowan. "Even rumor of a shape-shifter." Lysandra. "But no darkness. Or whatever Maeve fights with. And no flame."
"Though some reports claim they spotted flame and shadow on shore--far away. Flickers of both. There and gone. And no one spotted Aelin or the Dark Queen in the fleet."
It would have been like Aelin, to shift the battle between her and Maeve to the shore. To minimize casualties, so she could unleash her full power without hesitation.
"As I said," Hasar continued, fluffing the skirts of her dress, "They were victorious. Aelin was spotted returning to her armada hours later. They've set sail--north, apparently."
He muttered a prayer of thanks to Mala. And a prayer of thanks to whatever god watched over Dorian, too. "Any major casualties?"
"To their men, yes, but not to any of the interesting players," Hasar said, and Chaol hated her. "But Maeve ... there and gone, not a whisper of her left." She frowned at the windows. "Maybe she'll sail here to lick her wounds."
Chaol prayed that wouldn't be the case. Yet if Maeve's armada still sat in the Narrow Sea when they took the crossing ... "But the others sail north now--to where?" Where can I find my king, my brother?
"I'd assume Terrasen, now that Aelin has her armada. Oh, and another one."
Hasar smiled at him. Waiting for the question--the plea. "What other armada," Chaol forced himself to ask. Hasar shrugged, walking from the room. "Turns out, Aelin called in a debt. To the Silent Assassins of the Red Desert." Chaol's eyes burned.
"And to Wendlyn."
His hands began shaking.
"How many ships," he breathed.
"All of them," Hasar said, hand on the door. "All of Wendlyn's armada came, commanded by Crown Prince Galan himself."
Aelin... Chaol's blood sparked, and he looked to Yrene. Her eyes were wide, bright. Bright with hope--burning, precious hope.
"Turns out," Hasar mused, as if it were a passing thought, "there are quite a few people who think highly of her. And who believe in what she's selling."
"Which is what?" Yrene whispered.
Hasar shrugged. "I assume it's what she tried to sell to me, when she wrote me a message weeks ago, asking for my aid. From one princess to another."
Chaol took a shuddering breath. "What did Aelin promise you?"
Hasar smiled to herself.
"A better world."

EOS 10 4.01 incoherent rambling
(OBVIOUS WARNING FOR EOS 10 SEASON 4 SPOILERS AHEAD)
I love how it takes Ryan’s anger approximately .2 seconds to win it from the what the hell do I call Urvidian now-awkwardness
The fact that that whole convo happens with Ryan dangling from the ledge above the Promenade is ridiculously funny to me
As is the fact that he’s been there long enough for a crowd to form. with signs
..and that Ryan found out about the whole who’s your daddy deal, went on a nice date with Maddox, then... apparently promptly returned to threaten to throw himself off the ledge above the Promenade. Like skipping out on a date would’ve been a step too far.
“I’m glad someone else finally said it” is becoming a thing, isn’t it?
“I recently learned of an ancient earth lullaby about a queen who would very much like someone to put a ring on it.” I wanna know what lullabies are like on Arian-7
I could listen to Jane and Levi cackle for hours
the delivery of “you call what you do.....bartending?” is so perfect
Jane and Levi’s interactions are so good
so good
I love how Jane basically goes “look I love you but we’re doing shit my way or else” and Levi just compliments her choice of words
“this contest is so convenient for us” “yes and highly suspicious”  cue them running into danger anyway
Levi and Jane are just so supportive of each other and I love them a lot
I like how Maddox is just all chill “glad to see you’re off the ledge” as if he’s glad Ryan recovered from a super minor bug or something and not..threatening to hurl himself off a fuckin ledge
I’m still confused about the implant negating the drunk cognitive effects of alcohol but not the effects the murdery dirt in 301
Maddox is such a sap and he needs to be protected as long as he doesn’t prove to be evil after all
Ryan calling Maddox Commander Maddox is so cute. But so is him calling him David.
They’re just so cute
Their flirting is the definition of adorkable
Urvidian just starts rambling about drinking paint solvent at the barkeep and then he goes “I don’t know why I’m telling you any of this” and my first thought was EMPATH!!!!! EM!!!!PAATTTHH!!!!!
So now I’m considering how smart it would be to have an empath as your barkeep at an illegal cage fighting match bc they would be able to sorta get whoever’s near them to spill the beans on what they’re up to and thus weed out whoever has bad intentions
And now I’m wondering if I’m correct, so Justin if you happen to read this please let me know so I can feel smart and/or dumb thank you
Also Urvidian near alcohol fills me with ....unease
(short intermission to complain about how buggy Stitcher’s playback feature is)
“look at all these potential new fans!!!”
hellOOoooooOoooo.....SON
I’m pretty sure Maddox being appalled at how fake The Alliance Travel Alliance sounds is the only time we’ve ever heard him be anything other than chill so far
“this is not the way to work out your aggression” “bear with me I am tRYING SOMETHING NEW”
nothing like being locked in a cage together to work out some father-son issues
“I am your SON” “oh, so now you claim me when your life depends on it?” “well..yeah.” and then Jane just burns him to a fuckin crisp with words
I’m here for Levi’s newfound love for Beyoncé
Urvidian doing an attempt at being a Protective Dad (tm) is adorable
Maddox’ laugh sounds a lot like a sinister chuckle
For real
He’s ridiculously cute with Ryan but dammit the evil thing sticks
IT’S GOOD TO HAVE CHOICES
I know this has been said before but Maddox going “just your eyes” definitely sounds like he says ass instead and I can’t NOT hear it. I am not convinced that isn’t what he’s saying
Ryan is keeping a file on Levi somewhere, isn’t he?
I like how David “chief of security” Maddox describes cage fighting matches as super interesting
Was there some sort of screening for his position?
Like did they interview him?
Did they ask him what he’d do in a given scenario
Because he’s done pretty much all of the things I feel like a chief of security should be preventing
Anyway
They’re cute
But also, Maddox? Maybe don’t mention the Silent Storm bc now your boyfriend is off obsessing over wibbly wobbly timey wimey gay space pirate shenanigans again

TOWER OF DAWN SPOILERS SCROLL THROUGH IF YOU HAVE NOT READ IT THIS IS MY FULL FEELS AND SPOILER TALK BEWARE SPOILERS AHEAD
HOLY MOLY GUACAMOLE I CANNOT EVEN SPEAK RIGHT NOW I JUST FINISHED THE BOOK AND I CANNOT.
spoilers below spoilers below spoilers below spoilers below spoilers below spoilers below
CHAOL WESTFALL. lemme just. ahHh. okay so Chaol used to be my fave. and then he wasn't. and then i was not looking forward to this book, besides the fact that i obviously was looking forward to it because it is written by Sarah J Maas. buT HOLY. FREAKING. MOLY. this was amazing. his character arc too was spectacular. lowkey could tell that Nesryn and Chaol weren't gonna be endgame, just cause they never talked and never actually understood each other, idk.
YRENE TOWERS. AHHH. THIS WAS SO EXCITING AND IT MADE ME ANXIOUS TOO. i was just waiTINg to see if anyone was gonna figure out that Aelin was the one that gave her the money and it was alluded to the wHole book because of her note and even when she told Chaol, NOTHING. no one figured it out and it just made me go crazy until FINALLY CHAOL READ THE LETTER AND RECOGNIZED THE WRITING AND CRIED AND I COULDN'T HANDLE IT. also, it made sense that one of them was gonna have awesome powers to help and i think it is super cool that Yrene was it. the parasite thing is kiiiinda confusing, mostly because it sounds so simple. are there oTHer healers like her?? does this mean she is the only one that can heal those infested by the Valg? Does this mean that she is going to have to go to the breaking point of her powers and health a million times just to gree everyone?? yiiiikkes im excited for the next book.
CAN WE JUST TALK ABOUT THE FREAKING PLOT TWISTS- MAEVE IS VALG. I REPEAT- MAEVE IS VALG. i feel like everyone knew there was something off about her, but i always just thought that maybe she inherited a whole different kind of magic or that she came from a diffERent world, but HOLY MOLY SHE IS VALG AND THAT WHY SHE IS THE WAY SHE IS AND OHMYGOODNESS IT MAKES ME SO ANXIOUS THAT NO ONE KNOWS THIS RIGHT NOW NOT EVEN AELIN WHO IS TRAPPED AGAINST HER AND COULD POSSIBLE FIND A WAY TO FIGHT HER OFF IF SHE KNEW.
i almost cried when Chaol found out about what happened in Terrasen, for two reasons. One- just like in EoS, i felt goosebumps and pride and joy and holy moly when it was revealed jUst hoW maNy people were going to fight for her. HIS DEAD QUIET WAY OF ASKING HOW MANY. AND THEN HASAR RESPONDING EVERYONE. im so happy and it was beautiful and amazing and so many and all of aelin's debts and loyalties and now everything that chaol amassed which is probably just as towering as what aelin gathered.
HASAR. she was being so gahhh the whole time and i never knew if she was good or bad unTIL SHE SAID THAT AELIN HAD ALREADY SENT HER A LETTER- PRINCESS TO PRINCESS ANd i think i almost cried cause i can't believe aelin asked for her help too and just aslf;akjdasjdf i miss my precious aelin. also lololol yrene pushing hasar into the pool was hilarious.
YRENE AND CHAOL GOT MARRIED AND THATS SO CUTE but someone brought to my attention that yeAH sjm has never given us a marriage scene. ok, that's THREE MARRIAGES now and NOT ONE SINGLE SCENE.
OHMYGOSH AND YRENE WAS ABLE TO BRING LIKE 300 HEALERS WHICH IS AMAZING
also im totally fine with chaol's continued disability. i was so happy when he could finally walk and obviously i was freaking out for the moment that he could not use his legs again and then Yrene made a deal which fREAKED ME OUT CAUSE I THOUGHT IT WAS GOING OT BE SOMETHING LIKE TAKING HER LIFE RIGHT NOW But im totally okay with their lives being tied together its good its fine its great because he cAn walk and he cAn fight and its great.
poor Duva. no, i never suspected. i suppose i should have since the book never really mentioned her as much as it should have. but no. i sorta suspected either Hasar or Arghun or even Sartag or the High Priest Healer person.
Nesryn + Sartag IS great, but they are not my fave ship. i do love them A LOT, but i usually enjoyed Yrene + Chaol scenes more UNTIL THE FREAKING MAEVE PLOT TWIST AND THE STYGIAN SPIDERS THING AND SUCH.
ok i need someone to confirm this for me. didn't aelin make a trade or something with someone during assassin's blade in exchange for spider silk or something? i feel like he does tie in...?
FALKAN IS LYSANDRA'S UNCLE . i wholeheartedly believe this. nesryn said that she didn't match the description but lysandra said that she had forgotten what she actually looked like and that she was a plain girl and THAT IS GOING TO BE FALKAN'S FAMILY AND OMG THIS IS AMAZING
okay ruks just remind me of wyverns and i feel like they are just southern continent wyverns. not that i don't love them. its great. im excited to see the wyverns and ruks interact and fight together and ahhh
ONE THOUSAND SHIPS FROM HASAR + KASHIN'S FOOT SOLDERS + DARGAN CAVALRY + ONE THOUSAND RUKHIN + THREE HUNDRED HEALERS = ALL FOR AELIN AND CO. AND SHES NOT EVEN THERE. ALL OF THIS PLUS WHAT SHE WAS ABLE TO GATHER FROM WENDLYN, SILENT ASSASSINS, AND THE WASTES.
OKAY THE LAST CHAPTER WAS NOT OKAY. THAT IS NOT ACCEPTABLE TO DO TO ME. THE CHAPTER TITLE FIREHEART. NO. NOT OKAY. THAT HURTS ME. the huntsman. maeve. my beloved aelin. not okay. im not okay.
ill add more later if i remember.
HOW AM I SUPPOSED TO WAIT AN ENTIRE YEAR FOR THE NEXT BOOK SJM???

Wonder Woman: Movie Review
Hi, hey, I just saw Wonder Woman, so now I am going to write a review on it! (Yay!!!)
Synopsis:  Before she was Wonder Woman, she was Diana, princess of the Amazons, trained to be an unconquerable warrior. Raised on a sheltered island paradise, Diana meets an American pilot who tells her about the massive conflict that's raging in the outside world. Convinced that she can stop the threat, Diana leaves her home for the first time. Fighting alongside men in a war to end all wars, she finally discovers her full powers and true destiny. (taken from the one and only google)
Watch the trailer: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VSB4wGIdDwo
Rating: 4.5/5 stars, around 90% and an A-
No spoilers review: I mean, it was a good movie and I enjoyed it and I will talk more specifically about the things that enjoyed in the spoiler section, but I will say that I enjoyed the fact that the main character was a woman and I enjoyed the way that they portrayed the way society looks at women and the way the movie shows the expectations we have for women and how it shows that these expectations are not right and not just. I loved most of the fight scenes (I’ll get to that later). I think the main reason that I wasn’t able to enjoy this movie as much as I would have liked is because I don’t enjoy plots that are as fast paced as this movie, and I am not trying to blame the movie for this, because I understand that you need to fit a complete story arch into 2 hours, which is difficult to manage, so I don’t blame them if it was fast paced, because it is a very tight schedule and it does feel fast at some points and I wasn’t able to enjoy that. I think I would have enjoyed it more, if it were a TV show. I did love the story line and the way it portrays the problems in our society and the way it shows us what is wrong. I as sitting there in the theater and I was feeling what they wanted me to feel: I was feeling embarrassed for this woman, strong, courageous woman, for standing up for what she believed in, I wanted her to fit in and go along with what everyone else said and blend into society, instead of doing what she wanted to do. I feel like this is slowly moving into the spoiler section, so I am going to conclude this by saying that while I did not enjoy the movie as much as I would have liked to, it was not for the story line and the message, it was more about my personal preferences like faster pacing and excessive amounts of action sequences, but that is just because I don’t typically enjoy that sorta thing, so yeah.
To conclude this section, if you are wondering whether to go see the movie, PLEASE DO, I will say that I was blinking tears out of my eyes by the end of it and I am really proud of what DC did with this story, so do yourself a favor and go get a ticket.
Gonna go into spoilers now, so if you have seen the movie, feel free to read on!
Spoiler review: So, as I said before, I enjoyed most of the fight scenes that we got in this movie, which is saying a lot, as I usually don’t enjoy that kind of thing in general. Now, the one fight scene that I didn’t enjoy was the one at the very end of the film, when she is fighting Ares, like the full on wearing-armo(u)r-and-can-mold-anything-into-a-weapon Ares, because I felt like it was too much, the CGI, the special effects, the armor... I think what tipped it over the edge for me was the whole molding-anything-into-a-weapon thing and I just found that with this much editing going on, it wasn’t as “organic” as I would have liked it to be (which is ironic since none of the scenes in the film really are “organic”, but most of them aren’t as full on with special effects as this one was and I found that I wasn’t able to feel for them as much, and I felt disconnected from it all. With that said, I loved the other action sequences we got in this film,  like the No Man’s Land one. I loved how it showed Diana standing up for what she believed, instead of listening to what everyone else was telling her to do, it felt so empowering to watch her take down the Germans. And when she jumped into the church and took down the last German, it felt so wonderful and great and I was full of adrenaline. Also the fight scene at the start of the movie, when Diana saves Steven and the Germans discover their island. I enjoyed that one so much, because it showed women in and entirely new light (this makes me sound like a feminist), but I loved the way they Amazons were portrayed and how they were shown as these warriors who could stand up for themselves by themselves. It was very empowering to watch. Now let us talk about the romance... This is probably the only reason that I had problem with the pacing - the whole romance felt a bit insta-lovey - how they just met and barely know each other and suddenly he is telling her he loves her and giving her his fathers watch (which I would guess means a lot to him)... And it felt so very fast to me, maybe because I am used to seeing romantic feelings develop over multiple books, but this was like a skip-through-all-the-boring-stuff-and-get-to-the-cheesy-and-sweet-bit. It felt like they tried to mush too much into 2 hours with the romance and action and everything in-between and they may have done better to leave some of it out. I don’t know, maybe it’s just me...Now, another reason why I didn’t enjoy this movie as much as I wanted to was the mixed and crooked mythology... The thing is, I am such Rick Riordan trash and one of the many reasons that i enjoy his books is because of the way mythology is layed out very clearly and clear lines are drawn between the Greek and Roman mythology and I like it, because I get a clear understanding and a good history lesson. The mythology in WW was confusing and mixed and inaccurate with all their talk of Zeus dying and Ares living on and the Amazons, which aren’t even a part of Greek mythology, being creating to save the day, which is not how it is supposed to go. Since I knew the original stories (sorta knew the original stories anyways) I found it difficult to put that aside and focus on the ore important parts of the film, especially as this is mentioned multiple times during the movie. With that said, I did really enjoy the movie. So, now, that I have complained about the stuff that I didn’t enjoy, let me get into the things that I liked about this:
1. Bad-ass, kick-ass warrior women - THANK YOU WE NEED MORE OF THIS IN MODERN DAY MEDIA PLEASE!
2. The humor: OMFG the humor in this was so amazing - good enough to make me laugh out loud, which isn’t something that happens often, and, of course, all the dirty jokes you could ever need. Some of my favorites were the bath scene where he(Steve) explains what a watch is, the scene on the boat where they talk about sleeping together and the “doesn’t go with the outfit”, there are more, but these are the highlights
3. “It is not about deserve, it is about what you believe” I THANK YOU FOR YET ANOTHER CHEESY QUOTE THAT I WILL PUT ON MY WALL AND ALLOW PEOPLE TO JUDGE ME FOR
4. The fact that this doesn’t have a happy ending. To be honest, I’ve had it with the happy endings in these action movies, where it seems so unrealistic that everyone that matters to the viewer will survive and be fine by the end of it, because that is not how war works in real life - people die, there are casualties, there are sacrifices made - and I enjoyed this film’s portrayal of a not happy ending and a not-so-happily-ever-after-but-moving-somewhere-in-that-direction-and-making-the-world-a-better-place-because-i-have-nothing-else-left-but-also-because-i-kinda-want-to, that is why I loved that movie so much.
5. how you kind of felt attached to all the characters, even the minor ones, due to the great acting. The actors DELIVERED and thank god for that! Of course, Remus Lupin was my personal favorite, but.. the other ones where good too, not sure about that Gal Gadot, though (I AM BEING SARCASTIC)
To round up, I enjoyed the movie and the things that I didn’t enjoy were mostly just my own preference and not a problem with the story line and the portrayal of any ideas/concepts in the film, yeah.
Below this cut (sorta cut) are some references that I thought of, while watching the movie, if you want you can read it, as long as you have finished all the books that are set in the Shadowhunter world and all the SJM books. I don’t want to spoil anyone... Oh, and also Star Wars (and obviously finished the movie)
So, references:
1. Diana, just in general reminds me a lot of Izzy from TMI, with them both being such wonderfully bad-ass warriors
2. But also, the truth-rope-thingy Diana uses reminded me of Izzy’s whip way too much, so I just started thinking of them as one being
3. The cuffs that Diana uses at the end to absorb Ares’ power reminded me of Cortana (Emma’s sword) from TDA, with how both the sword and the cuffs absorb the power of that which they destroy. So Diana is sorta a mix between Emma and Izzy.. following me, yeah?
4. when Diana was caught in those iron/rock thing and Ares was taunting her, how much did it remind you of that ending scene in EoS with Maeve taunting Aelin and cuffing her and laughing at her.... So now she’s a mix of Aelin, Emma and Izzy in my head, which is very confusing, because she is also just Diana
5. The way Ares was trying to get Diana to use her anger about Steve’s death to get her to kill humans reminded me of the way Sith was trying to being Luke to the dark side in one of the Star Wars movies.. Anyone else? No?  Just me?
please let me know what you thought about the movie, I would love to talk about it with you!
