Who here plays or has played bimboland... I just logged on and saw they changed the name from bimbo land to ximbo land, new domain and everything and its so lame I'm sorry, the site is not doing well and the only reason it hasn't gone under is because the influx of tumblr users that have for the most part stopped playing a game w high prices that makes earning in game currency extremely hard. There are soo many changes that could be made for the better and veering away from your "brand" name is not one of them. And despite the fact that it is in part a site for horny straight men it still has this early to mid 2000s charm to it that the majority of websites no longer have that would appeal to a lot of people it just needs polish. Like the uninspired clip art, terrible economy, the lack of customization when it comes to player profiles, and the moderating is abysmal on top of everything else. Ximbo land just does not have the same flare as bimbo land but let's not gloss over the alientation of the original community of horny straight men that kept the site afloat originally... what would they have to say about the pee sea special snowflake direction the site is going.. would they go so far as canceling their paid memberships or quit altogether? I'm afraid so

Oooh I wanted to defend on why I personally would categorize characters like Kageyama from hq (who isn’t necessarily kind) and someone like Chongyun from genshin (who isn’t strong at all) as Himbos even though if you compared them to the blueprint, they don’t fit perfectly like Bokuto does!

I like to think of the Himbo/bimbo category kind of like a chart, and since we don’t have other names for those that don’t quite fit, I like to think that the categories are beef/dumb/kind - and if they hit at least two of those points, they get himbo status from me lol. So while Kageyama isn’t particularly kind, he does check off beef and dumb - same with Ushijima, who is DEF a himbo, just also not outwardly kind! And Chongyun is far from beefy but he is kind and a little dumb, so I argue that he fits there too. Ideally I wish we had a broadened ximbo labels so the original label wasn’t skewed the way it has been, but since we don’t have much else this is what I do personally lmao

But regarding your initial take - ABSOLUTELY. I think it also ties into a bit of mischaracterization on certain characters (*cough**cough*bokuto*cough*cough*) yes, bokuto does have that slight petulance to him, and yes!! He is excitable and just a lil dumb, but he’s also keenly aware of his friends and their issues and can very seamlessly bring them to a solution (tsukki is Big Example, but also Akaashi later on!). He’s incredibly emotionally intelligent and no one really dives deep into that, which kind of in turn makes his content almost uncomfortable because he comes off so childish without that extra oomph that makes him such a great character.

i think that's a fair addition honestly! i think your conceptualization of it makes a lot more sense and adds more nuance to it all than like either extremes of "alarmingly dumb and buff" and "a huge asshole who's dumb" usually do. I don't think a himbo necessarily has to be a saint or like the sweetest of sweethearts, but they're not necessarily like... the villains of the story either?? if that makes sense??

bestie.... the way you read my mind :)) my initial take was inspired by some of the representations i've seen of bokuto both on here and on tiktok... and again, i completely agree!! people always take the airhead component too far and often ignore the emotional intelligence that himbos like bokuto usually have which is like ??? such a disservice to what great characters they are!
