My heart goes out to everyone finally figuring out that we aren't getting the death worm this season, I am really excited to see it animated too. But tbh there was never any way it would fit

Like think about everything that happens in the cursed house arc. There is SO MUCH there that I personally think just the death worm stuff is going to be 5-6 episodes on it's own to get through it. They didn't have enough episodes left even if they completely skipped the serpo arc.

Personally I've always figured the episodes are gonna shake out like this:

Ep 8 - shenanigans with Okarun/Aira and getting in to empty space (I was right! though I wasn't sure we'd get to Acro Aira but in hindsight that's a perfect cliffhanger cut point)

Ep 9 - the fight, probably ending with the big final blow

Ep 10 - public humiliation and mr. shrimp joins the team, Jiji appears at the end!

Ep 11 - Jiji is actually introduced and goes to school with them, ending with Taro appearing "chasing" Okarun

Ep 12 - anatomical dummies shenanigans and a sort of cliffhanger teasing the cursed house arc next season

I think people forget that it takes seconds to read a fight scene when it's just a few sequential images but several MINUTES to show that same fight scene animated. The Serpo arc is largely action, so it's no suprise it's taking a couple episodes. Also dialogue! Dialogue takes longer to voice act than it does to read. There's only so much you can fit into like, 25 mins

yup, him for part two. funny thing despite Aiden being my favourite character I'm most excited for the other three posts I'll make, especially the last one. there's a lot to unpack here so

also im writing this with a migraine pls read it-

Part 2: Aiden Clark

ah, yes. the obviously-mentally-ill from the start fan favourite Aiden Clark. let's go.

first, I want to start with something I find really important about his character, what makes him heavily mischaracterized in the fandom. the 'psychopath' cliche.

the terms 'psychopath', 'insane' and 'unstable' are often confused with each other due to media stereotypes, such as Aiden here. one, he is not a psychopath. psychopath literally means a self-centered person who lacks sympathy, affection and care; making them far from most other characters in their franchise. their lack of sympathy/empathy often makes them criminalized, here

disturbing content warning, for an example of a psychopath.

let's take Gressil from Homesick for example since a lot of SBG readers also read Homesick. so, here, Gressil is a perfect example of an actual psychopath. his lack of empathy makes him torment others, he's very self-centered. and when asked why he's doing this? he says he was bored. let's look at Aiden here. what does Aiden do when bored? probably dumb ideas or annoy Tyler. not torturing people for fun. Aiden is just a boy who likes thrills, but he has a sense of empathy, care and justice.

alright, now since we got that cleared out!! firstly, ADHD.

I think everyone in the fandom is already aware that Aiden is ADHD but I'm still going to talk about it just like Ashlyn's autism. Red has also said that she wrote Aiden with ADHD in mind but hadn't canonically confirmed anyone as neurodivergent. let's start with the main symptoms of ADHD, also known as Attention Decifit and Hyperactivity Disorder.

I know about 5 different ADHD people myself and did some research, it probably won't be extremely accurate since I'm not ADHD myself, but I'll try to do whatever I can. first with the AD part, Attention Decifit.

now as seen, he doesn't exactly have any problems with theorizing itself. but the problem is that his attention just goes away easily.

i mean cmon bro was making memes on the job

he tries to do work, but can't. he has a low attention span which makes him not able to concentrate. he can't keep it up for long, he'll get distracted or bored too easily about things that doesn't interest in specially.

it's just distracting. what his attention is on constantly changes, there's more to that after the ADHD part but we're here for now.

the hyperactivity... it's a lot more apparent. but I should explain the insane-unstable thing before that.

insane means that someone's mental health is not in an okay situation, where it prevents the person from thinking normally, acting rationally, very often found together with delusions. the person is seriously mentally ill where it might count as a disability.

unstable, however, where someone is prone to psychiatric problems, has moodswings etc. they're not exactly the most sane person, but they aren't insane either. Aiden here, obviously falls on the unstable side. maybe just a little bit insane if you squint. this will be brought up later too, but it mixed well with his hyperactivity too.

and as we all know, our boy isn't exactly the most stable person. (sorry for the collages, but since there is a tumblr picture limit i have to keep on collaging. yes i learnt from the last time) his hyperactivity mixes with his unstable mindset which makes him incresingly vulnerable to danger- which he likes. from when the first shift happened, he's been really careless about stuff but it's been all about his love for thrill.

and it irritates Tyler, too.

the main subplot about his character is that he's a person of excitement. guess what? ADHD people like the excitement, they like new things, they like the adrenaline and thrill. now, Aiden's main characteristic of being unstable mixed with ADHD makes him an even more reckless person. another thing mixing with the hyperactivity, is boundaries.

this part will mostly be about Ashlyn since the boundary issue only happens with her.

I talked about this on Ashlyn's side on my Ashlyn analysis, now it's time for Aiden's side.

he's really annoying to her at first. Ashlyn is someone with lots of boundaries, like high walls. and who tries to climb them with his dumbass? Aiden of course.

she kept rejecting his efforts to befriend her for some time, until the night they stole the jeep. then she managed to actually bring the walls down, and accept them all into her life. but damn was she blunt.

felt that honestly

and Aiden understands her that night, too.

Ashlyn was hesistant to hug him, yes, he was aware. but she still did which made him realize she was also trying. i have to tell you, people with ADHD and people with autism either have trouble getting along, or go perfectly well. my ADHD sibling for example, I have to push them away for a lot and tell them to lower their voice. but once they remember my boundaries it actually becomes a normal, even pleasant hangout. which, Aiden realizes and tries to get along with. he tries.

seeing his efforts on her boundaries makes something click in her mind. and she starts to be a lot nicer when they hang out in the arcade.

Aiden eventually learns and remembers what she's like and what she loves to do. he already tried to watch her ballet sessions once -got slammed-, he's been to her room where he remembered the mat from and her fighting makes it obvious. I'm sure he knew he'd get cooked by betting that. but he still did,

because he knew it'd interest her. which he succeeded, he saw her smile again. the arcade day went great until Barron and his gang pulled up, but if we ignore that part it all went well. Aiden started to understand and respect her boundaries.

anyways then Tyler fucking dies

he knows that Ashlyn feels guilty. Aiden wants to comfort her through it, but also do it correctly. without going over any boundaries. which makes him really,

really,

really surprised when she responds.

here we see that he's still trying. hell, I'm sure he spent minutes thinking if he should come close physically to help her. that's probably why he just nudged her softly before anything else. he's not used to it, he has to conciously make an effort to not cross said boundaries. keeping his voice lower, try to not be so reckless, not doing anything physically close unless she reciprocates. wow how i wish another someone i knew irl tried that hard instead of blaming it on me cOUGH COUGH COUGH

also other small things to include

he's yapping a lot

he has a comically large amount of puzzles in his backpack for one single trip

and sticks his head into lamps for some reason

but that's just Aiden and his little neurodivergent brain for ya.

now the part I wanted to get to the most.

Borderline Personality Disorder.

first, what is Borderline Personality Disorder?

shortened as BPD, borderline is when someone's mood is inconsistent and swinging. think of it's name; the person's mental state is in the border, in the border line, switching up fastly. the most easily understood and common type is when the person goes from a depression to a happy state. but no matter which state they are in and/or go to, one thing stays the same: it is unstable.

one thing about borderline is that it is frequently mixed with bipolar. however bipolar is a neurodivengercy which means it is what someone is born with and cannot be changed. but borderline is obtained later in life. it usually happens with depression. bipolar is much more random and the episodes last longer in comparison. it may last up to hours, and the person's memory might have trouble remembering their episodes. borderline, on the other hand, is a short-lived mood swing.

now here. here's the catch; people with BPD during mood swings can have reckless behaviour, suicidal thoughts -in his case as far as we know, lowered sense of protecting himself- or a loss of understanding danger. sounds familiar?

borderline's recklessness and dangerousness, sometimes self-destructive acts combines with ADHD's love for thrill and excitement, combined with Aiden's own personality all make up for a great condition of instability.

Aiden's behaviour constantly goes crazy, I think his most frequent mood swing might be his normal self (at least, as normal as he could be) to this more maniac way of acting. I noticed it from his eyes, when he's in a more calm-ish normal state his pupils are a bit more dilated. in the pictures above, you can clearly see that he's still in the episode; filled with the adrenaline, the unstable way of thinking.

but, what causes that? surely a mental illness such as borderline doesn't happen on it's own.

right?

cause it didn't.

it never works that way.

but it can get better.

eventually.

but what happened to him?

personally, as much as a large amounnt of people seems to believe it's something like family abuse I don't think so. maybe neglect, maybe withdrawal, maybe maybe. but we've seen his parents. I don't think they would hurt him like that. I can't put any more pictures, but this is the last part anyway. his parents seem to be kind and gentle, despite that picture in his house. I'm thinking the picture was only for the dramatic effect. his parents said that he used to be really calm and quiet during Lily's birthday, and both Aiden and Ben seem comfortable around them. they were happy taking Ben in too, any kind of abusive parent wouldn't do that at least that's what I believe. also there is that Aiden got serious and concerned when he learnt that their parents were also in the facility, most likely worried for his own as you would have thought.

there was a post that I've been trying to find for like half an hour, I commented on it but I can't find the post now. the person talked about their own theory. if I remember correctly it was that when Aiden was depressive as a child, his parents took him to a thrilling activity like the ones he's been talking about (bungee-jumping, skydiving etc.) and the thrill made him actually get excited. which is why his parents allowed him to go even more reckless, because they are aware of how prone their son could be to the depression.

what happened? let's ignore the parents factor. someone can have a loving family and still be traumatized, someone can be taken care of and still feel abandoned, someone can never have confronted a situation they are terrified of.

one of my theories is that, the loneliness. it must get to a child heavily considering children need to not be left alone, but Aiden was. he didn't have any actual friends since they always moved from one place to another from his parents' business, and they might have not had enough time to make for him (which I believe is bullshitting, every child deserves to be taken some time out for. some people quit their jobs entirely for their child.) and be unaware, and that doesn't change that he was still depressed and alone. his depressive state was seemingly before Ben was taken in. now here one thing with borderline, at least from my experience, is faking actions. smiles, laughs, friendships, conversations... almost as if there's two different lives; one fake, and one real. you keep on switching, you keep on swinging between the sides where you're yourself and where you're just mimicking 'normal human behaviour'.

it starts from faking a happy state during their depression, and by time you're faking it it becomes an automatic adition to your personality. to your mind. once it furthers, it becomes the disorder. Aiden we see is always smiling. it becomes a habit that only breaks sometimes. now, I'm not saying his smile is fake- I think his face is literally just stuck like that. it breaks ever so slightly sometimes. fake it till ya make it yanno? that kind of thing. and when he swings from his calm mood to his borderline-d mood, his pupils get small and his smile gets worse. noticably worse. I'll be rereading the series (AGAIN) and this time look at all the small details since Red loves putting them and I love theorizing so

which, wraps up the Aiden thing! im actually really proud of how i could put my thoughts into text which i never could. i'd love any additions because i love other opinions as well.

and you know what? im glad Ash and Ai are out of the place because the rest are what I'm actually looking forward to >:)

Just wanted to scream about the Adrian and Hazel DLC, which I finally finished, and how I lost it entirely at the whole "Uncle Jacey" and "pregnancy" thing (Cameron, you shit-stirrer). Also, just how Adrian didn't totally deny the possibility of it happening soon-ish (I see you devs with that Hazel and Sina comment, pfft). Also, just Caroline being dragged away from hovering on their engagement is the funniest thing I've read—let her cook! She was their first shipper and has been waiting years for this! Hazel returning the head pats and constantly playing with Adrian's hair, too? Devs, you spoil us 🥺. Speaking of, THANK YOU FOR THE ZOE AND JACE FOOD IN HAZEL AND ADRIAN'S DLC. I love those two as much as I do Hazel and Adrian (and am doing them next), and to see they're romantically tangled in that timeline has me 😤. Does Jace ever get the guts to finally ask Zoe out? The people me want to know and how much groveling begging did Zoe make him do for making her wait? A pair of deep ocean eyes anxiously shift around the New York hotel suite. He chews mindlessly on his pink, raw cuticles while his crossed-legs bounce with nervous fury. His other hand casually back-combs his playfully-styled locks, raking them upward into melted spikes. But, luckily for Maxwell, his close friends are preoccupied with excitement; they don’t notice that he is adrift with his raging, thunderous thoughts. Although their pressing questions have been answered, Maxwell wanders aimlessly with a broken heart.

Thanks to their clever sleuth work and strong desire for justice, Tariq was found; and better than anticipated, after careful discussion, he was willing to come forward about the false accusations of his relations with Lady Riley. But, time was of the essence if they were going to stop the Cordonian royal wedding. Riley along with her press secretary Justin, Drake, Hana, the Beaumont brothers work quickly to decipher the next course of action: a public statement to be broadcasted during Liam and Madeleine’s wedding shower.

Hana gently places her petite, manicured hand on Maxwell’s shoulder. Her warm smile and endearing touch calm his outward erratic nerves. Peering into her bright chocolate eyes, a roaring sense of courage overwhelms his internal timidity; he now has his own plan.

“You’re with me, Tariq,” Justin delegates, clapping Tariq’s back. The sound of his name breaks Maxwell from his fog. “We’ve got an appointment.” Maxwell’s eyes track the men as they exit the room, his opportunity for his own justice walking away in a tailored Brioni suit. He thinks quickly; this can’t be it. He needs answers.

“I don’t know about the rest of you,” Drake stifles a yawn, turning towards the open door. “But I need some sleep before we go to this shower.”

Perfect. Now is Maxwell’s chance. “Yeah,” his voice cracks before clearing his throat. “My eyelids feel like they weigh a hundred pounds.” Hopping from the tufted leather chair, Maxwell smooths out his slacks. He finger-guns the ladies, hoping his humor covers up his awkward eagerness to leave. And to get to Tariq.

“Justin!” Maxwell calls out from down the hallway, jogging to catch up to the two men. Leaning into Justin’s ear, he begins to whisper an inaudible request. Though he keeps his head bowed, fixated on his notecards, Tariq casually sneaks a glance at Maxwell.

“Right now?” Justin scoffs, “we don’t have time--”

“Please. Just for a minute.” Maxwell pleads, a wave of seriousness washing over his body.

Justin sighs, placing a hand on his hip, looking at his watch. “Alright,” he motions with his head, “my room. Five minutes. But, then we have to leave if we’re going to get this statement out on time.” Justin ushers an unsuspecting Tariq into his hotel quarters before leaving him alone.

Maxwell takes a deep breath, willing the waves of his churning stomach to cease. He grits his teeth into a smile as his racing heart returns from the clouds. He pops his knuckles one last time before heading into the room to face him.

Maxwell slowly makes his entrance, easing the door closed behind him. With his arms crossed, he leans against the entryway to a small, breakfast nook. Ensuring that his presence is known, he softly coughs as he watches Tariq’s reaction.

Tariq quietly looks out over the busy Manhattan traffic, not acknowledging Maxwell’s presence. He wrings his hands as his thoughts appear to wander.

“Well?” Maxwell starts, chewing on his bottom lip. Tariq rolls his eyes to Maxwell before returning to the view. Maxwell scoffs. “So, that’s it then, huh? That’s what this has come to?” He puts his hands on his hips as he begins to pace. "After everything we've been through--"

“Maxwell--” Tariq meekly whispers.

“And then," Maxwell interrupts, "to hurt my best friend, trying to take away her happy ending, too--?”

“Stop it, Max--” Tariq gruffly mutters.

“I mean, God, Riq!" Maxwell stops pacing, searching for the right words. "What did you think--no, what did you feel when you looked through that peep hole and saw me on the other side, knocking on your door?”

His question hangs in the air as Tariq turns towards an angry Maxwell. Relaxing his shoulders, he slowly steps closer. “Relief?” Maxwell shakes his head in disbelief at the answer. Tariq comes closer, cupping his hand on Maxwell’s face, gently stroking his thumb. “I had always hoped you would find me.”

Maxwell grabs his wrist to stop his tender touch. “Why, Riq? Just, why? Why didn’t you tell me? Why didn't you call me--?”

Tariq sighs, walking back to the window. “Constantine.”

“What does he have to do with anything--?”

Tariq let's out a long sigh. “He saw us, Max--” he looks to Maxwell, widening his eyes. “He--saw--us. You know? That morning?” He clears his throat. “At Applewood--?”

Max gasps, his cheeks flushing like a wildfire. “He saw us?” He tries to hide his grin, covering his mouth with his fingers. “But--”

“I know,” Tariq runs his hands nervously through his hair. “Later that morning, he requested my presence, only to threaten to reveal our relationship to the entire court--” he swallows thickly, “--not to mention our families-- and to the world.” Tariq’s eyebrows knit with worry as he continues. “My only deliverance was if I followed through with his plan to eliminate the American competition--” he defeatedly sighs, “--what I did to Lady Brooks, ‘for the sake of Cordonia and the Crown’.”

“Riq, I--I had no idea--”

“He told me I could return after Liam was married, but why would I want to?” The storm clouds gather in his eyes. “He would always have the truth about me--about us--hanging over our heads, not to mention how everyone must feel about me, how everyone must be disgusted with me--” he catches his head in his hands as his sobs. “How you must feel about me…” he whispers.

Max kneels in front of Tariq, taking his smooth, broad hands into his own. His eyes sparkle with adoration as Tariq stares at the floor. “Look at me.” Maxwell presses his lips to Tariq’s knuckles. “It’s okay--”

“I’m sorry,” Tariq stumbles over his tears. “I’m so sorry for what I’ve done against Ramsford, against you--God!” He grips tightly to Maxwell’s hands. “I’m so sorry what I’ve done against us--if there’s even still an us--”

“Shhh,” Maxwell hushes his cries. “Riq, do you remember the last time we were here?”

The corners of Tariq’s mouth curl, his swollen eyes meeting Maxwell’s gaze. “How could I forget?”

Both of the men chuckle as Maxwell touches his hand to Tariq’s cheek, his thumb wiping away his tears. “We talked about finally going public--”

“I know, I know. And Max,” he sighs, “I’m still scared. Of what people will--”

“No, no,” he interrupts, smiling kindly at Tariq. “Do you remember what I told you?”

“Before or after the third bottle of that cheap Merlot?” Tariq raises a mischievous eyebrow, squeezing Maxwell’s hand. Maxwell’s eyes grow dark with desire, giving Tariq a knowing look.

“This was definitely before,” Maxwell titters; but his tone quickly grows serious. “But, seriously? Do you remember Riq?” Tariq softly nods, lacing his fingers with Maxwell’s. “I mean what I said--and I still do.”

Tariq leans forward, resting his head against Maxwell’s forehead at the sound of his words. Closing their eyes, they cherish the moment, savoring each other in the stillness of being together. They’re hearts intertwine, beating as one, keeping perfect time and rhythm.

“I still love you, too, Max.” Lifting Maxwell’s chin up with the soft touch of his hand, their lips meet passionately. Maxwell slips his arms around Tariq’s neck, deepening the kiss. Tariq quietly moans into Maxwell’s lips, teasing them with his tongue as he pulls him into an embrace.

“Gentlemen?” A sudden knock at the door makes them jump apart. Justin appears, tapping on his watch. “We gotta go! If we leave now, we will make it--”

“Just-in time,” both Maxwell and Tariq groan. “We know. We know.”

Filing out of the room, Tariq takes Maxwell’s hand in his hand. Maxwell pauses, giving Tariq an inquisitive look, looking at their laced fingers before continuing comfortably down the hallway.

“I’m ready, Max--”

“I know you are.” Maxwell squeezes his hand as they stop to wait for the elevator. “You’re going to do great--”

“No, no--” Tariq raises their hands, kissing the back of Maxwell’s hand. “This. I’m tired of hiding. From court, from Constantine, from everyone. I’m ready for this. For you.”

“Riq,” letting go of his hand, Maxwell’s eyes flutter, blinking away a tear. “Maybe we need to talk more about this whenever we get home--because, oh boy, I don’t want you to feel any pressure, and you know, I’m willing to wait forever for you, you know that, right? I just want to make sure--”

Tariq steps up, pressing his hands against Maxwell’s chest. He leans in to place a gentle kiss to his supple lips to quiet his rambling. “I’m sure.” He smiles, mirroring Maxwell’s toothy grin. “Now,” Tariq continues, tapping on his lips with his finger, “how about once more--for good luck!”

Maxwell grazes his lips tenderly against his lover’s mouth before embracing him tightly. Leaning into Tariq’s ear, Maxwell lowers his voice: “we don’t need luck. babe.”

As the doors slide open with the chime of the elevator, Maxwell takes Tariq’s hand. Smiling at each other, the men step onto the lift and into their future together.

Thanks for the ask! Sorry for the lateness of my reply! Life has been busy and exhausting recently!

F: Share a snippet from one of your favorite dialogue scenes you’ve written and explain why you’re proud of it.

Dialogue scenes, hmmmm...

Probably a lot of the really filthy dirty talk in the Yes, Daddy series 😂 But I'm not sharing any of that on Tumblr.

Though I'm proud of a lot of the dialogue in Collateral Damage.

“And you’re poor!” Draco throws out. Now Ron shifts on his feet, hands on hips, eyes narrowing. “And you don’t even appreciate a good wine. I don’t know why I bothered digging through the cellar today. Potter’s gulping it down like two sickle beer, and it’s not as if you’d know the difference.”

“Is this why you came? To insult me?” Ron shouts.

“No! You just drive me to it!” Draco shouts back. “Look at you! You make the stupidest faces, did you know? And you say the stupidest things! You never make any sense! You just sputter like a buffoon! And you work in a bloody joke shop! How am I supposed to bring you home to mother like this?”

That whole scene is a mess in the best of ways! It's funny and ridiculous and rude and moving all at once. It was a blast to write and I've gotten a lot of feedback about how much others enjoyed that part. This is just a portion of it, too, it gets even better. 😂

Another bit from that story that I love, and how I came up with the title, is this:

“You’ll have the Gryffindor ‘honor’ and ‘loyalty’ to contend with,” she eventually said. “But they do love a bit of excitement and adventure, don’t they? What could be more fun than hate-fucking between enemies?”

“Potter is my enemy,” Draco sniffed. “Weasley is collateral.”

I'll tell you, as soon as I wrote that bit and came up with the title, I felt like a friggin' genius. 😂

Then this bit from Loverboy at Play:

“Detention, Mr. Potter. I believe Professor Firenze can use your questionable skills this evening.”

“Why not punish me yourself? Sir.” ...."You’ve been pawning me off on everyone else this year. Don’t you want to torture me yourself? Sir.”

Just a portion, but this is another fic where I enjoyed a lot of the dialogue. Especially when it's Harry being a nuisance, and when they're heated and confronting one another. Hot, hot, hot. But that's how I love my boys, just pushing each other's buttons endlessly. 😂

P: Are you what George R. R. Martin would call an “architect” or a “gardener”? (How much do you plan in advance, versus letting the story unfold as you go?)

Definitely an architect! Even with my small little one shots, I generally know exactly where things are going before I start. I, in fact, struggle to even start at all if I don't know where it's headed.

But even with my few longer fics (The Best Kept Secrets for Harry Potter, and the How To series for the Marvel fandom), I had them all fully outlined and plotted out before even starting. I attribute that to how quickly I flew through writing those stories. And I fully intend to have a very thorough outline ready to go for future longfics!

I'm the sort of person even in everyday life where I like to have a plan for things and at the very least having an idea of what to do and how to do it. 😊

U: Share three of your favorite fic writers and why you like them so much.

ONLY THREE???? This is the rudest question I've ever encountered. I've been in fandom for 18 - 19 years....I've read thousands upon thousands of fanfics....and I'm supposed to narrow down to 3 writers??? 3 of many outstanding writers???? Are you kidding me?????

Okay, ahem, I can do this, I can totally do this.

(Also just so we're clear, I'm not a very eloquent person at all so please forgive me for not doing these very skilled writers justice at all with my commentary. I run on emotion and excitement y'all. 🙈)

@perverse-idyll for sure. I've not encountered any of their writing that didn't totally captivate me. Prose? GORGEOUS. Characterizations? Real, human, flawed, stunning. Storytelling? Clever, intriguing, beautiful. There is a reason I've read and reread their work countless times over the years!

eldritcher is a newer one for me, but WOW. Their work is so unique both in writing style and also the stories themselves! Their work is so clever and draws from so many incredible sources! Their writing itself is very poetic and strange and lovely. Their work is so unlike anything else and I always do a little jig when I see they've posted something new!

@foxconfessorandthewolf gotta be! Their work always speaks to me and strikes deep in the heart. The dirty, real, ugly humanity of it all. And to write such rawness in such gorgeous words truly boggles the mind! Their work makes me want to sit and the floor and cry because not only am I feeling things, but I'm also struck by the beauty of their wordcrafting!

Honestly those 3, all of their work blows me away every time. 💛

haha totally epic and not really long review i spent almost an hour writing how i felt about the first episode haha no NO

S1;E1 (King Me) Review that's more of a personal rant than actual review i'm sorry help me

(warning this is a VERY long review towards how I felt towards the first episode, and there will be MANY, MANY more like this; but dont worry, not will be like this lol)

King Me was an episode that already began to show the progress towards King Julien and his efforts towards him and the kingdom. We already know what happens; But for the ones who don't or at least don't remember- Uncle King Julien, King Julien's Uncle, obviously, was foretold a prophecy from Masikura about a prophecy where if a king was wearing a crown tomorrow night, they would get eaten by the foosa. Intrigued with a plan, Uncle King Julien gives the crown to his nephew while they're unaware of what's expected to come.

We can already tell his uncle's a bit of a douche, already wanting to kill his son off from day one. But the question lies through; Was this something he's been wanting to do for sometime, or just a 'without a second thought' decision? It's unclear, but this only shows how retched this guy's family really is. It's a bit saddening to know King Julien comes from such a terrible family, honestly. We already know about how his parents are, but we'll get about them when they make their first appearance in the later episodes.

Moving on, the episode later showed Mort's first interaction with the King. It shows that Mort had always encountered Julien, but never spoke to him until now, hence why King Julien was asking Mort's name. This also shows Mort already had quite the liking towards him before his feet addiction, but we're not sure how much he liked him. Was he just a regular fanatic or something more before then? His interest towards the feet didn't really skyrocket until the later seasons (which will be very interesting to talk about, so get ready for that soon, heuha).

I enjoyed seeing the part where he defeated the foosa through an interest many saw as a negative. The one thing I definitely liked in this episode was how his negative characteristics (being a party animal) were taken in a positive light. It's obvious Julien can take something bad into something good, and he always finds his own ways into solving situations, no matter how ridiculous it may seem to most. He takes his own precaution and steps, and most of the time; They usually work! It showed his own potential as a king, and didn't want to stick to the rules that the past kings have probably enforced onto themselves and others. It's already proof enough that Uncle King Julien's method of handling things was through running away and being in fear, and it was the kind of method Julien sort of took when the foosa first attacked at his coronation.

It was well established in the start of the episode that his uncle took things through seclusion and limitation. Halfway through the episode, it was revealed that his uncle even banned his people from doing fun, exciting things (as in worry of them attracting the foosas), which is kind of a low, but it's his uncle, so it's not even a big surprise whatsoever. King Julien obviously didn't want to keep that law, so it makes sense he would well... veto it. Sometimes it makes me feel bad for the kingdom despite Maurice said 'he kept us all safe'. Regardless if he did, restricting everyone's activities for the sake of 'not attracting the foosas' seems a little numb-handed. His uncle should've thought of something better rather than forcing everyone to stay quiet most of the time and restricting most activities. He could've maybe told them how to fight, or told them how to set up warning signs for foosas'.

It's kind of stupid how Clover wasn't being the main defender since it was clearly shown she has the skills and defensive tactics to protect her kingdom. Yet again, she was just the head of security, and not the bodyguard. It's unknown how long she has been working with Uncle King Julien, but I'm sure he's known her long enough to know she could've been the perfect security to stop the foosas' back then, but it would make sense he would probably tell her to back from the foosas' since he didn't want to risk losing anyone. I mean, it was already proven from Maurice they lost half of the kingdom to the foosas' last year- which is definitely... news right there.

But what truly got me the most out of everything else in the episode was King Julien's quote to his people when he told them they would be dealing with the foosa again in the future; How if there isn't a tomorrow for them, then they should make their day extra big. It's a neat sentiment and less of a negative quote, serving more as a neutral one that reassures but gives the lemurs an understanding to what they're really dealing with in the jungle life. It's funny but strange to me on how King Julien could easily accept the fates he expects to probably deal with in the future. Maybe cause he's so used to already hearing so many lemurs get eaten by foosas; Some I bet he saw with his very own eyes.

But even so, he already gives his audience a pill that their past king probably would be too afraid to say to them, and that was honesty.

Brutal honesty. But an honesty with hope. He tells his people to make their days last, because they, and not even King Julien himself, knows when it's time to go. (cough - cough COUGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHNHnhnhn)

This episode was a true testimate to what King Julien is, and serves as an absolute justice to his usual roles back in the Madagascar movies and The Penguins of Madagascar; I applaud DreamWorks for giving this lemur the show he deserves, and the justice they gave to all the other lemurs and some others from the first Madagascar movie into this show, giving them the screen time they deserve as well- it truly shows how much the company really cares for its characters, and I give them huge respect for that. These are more than just 'cash grab spin offs', these are spin-offs I bet many, many people asked and wondered for years- and there it came.

But that's my review for the first episode. It's long, but whatever. As I progress through the other episodes, the reviews will be much more exciting, wacky, and well... review-y, lol.

They'll also probably be a bit shorter since I don't want to make every review be as long and detailed, heuha. Just felt like posting the first episode review out there. Will post the second episode review soon and then after I'll be reviewing the rest of season 1 and then turning it all into a single notepad that I'll publicly share to y'all.

little things that have been implemented since the last update:

edgeworth confirmed! one of miles's ancestors will be a supporting character in the fic. i am aware many people avoid OCs like the plague and you know what, fair, but this is an entirely self indulgent fic and i just want this character to be an edgeworth okay sue me

i may include other OCs, mostly because i was missing a fey/an ayasato in the tgaa games. I've been contemplating the possibility of introducing a fey who is actually a man because we've never met one during the games, to my knowledge, and i think it would be interesting to explore that whole "men ain't shit in kurain" thing, gives so much to work with

after much consideration gina's nickname for susato is going to be sue :) if you have any criticism, sue me :) (yes i will be using this pun. for evil)

i was so happy about all the gay pining i didn't realize i have put some of the characters in the literal line of fire, which means they will be struggling with Capcom-sized doses of trauma. sorry, gina.

particularly gina will be dealing with hypersensitivity to noise, given she was in the trenches; kazuma (the other character who is involved in actual combat) will have problems of his own

the routes and paths each character takes throughout the war are already done! it's been so cool and honestly so educational to refresh my admittedly not wide knowledge about the great war and see what to do with each character. most of the action takes place in europe, with some micronesia peppered in.

for example, naruhodo spends like half of the war in japanese-occupied german micronesia as an interpreter and is later transferred to malta for naval escort missions

then you've got gina who starts off in belgium but moves through that zone to france

you know the drill people are going to move and they're going to meet (because I know if i were the one reading it and people didn't find each other I would be PISSED)

van zieks is going to have a cameo, much to my chagrin, because he's still a centric character yadda yadda yadda. his general absence is nothing personal, really, he'd appear more if i didn't have this many characters to keep track of already and if i wasn't developing an entire fic just for him (stay tuned i *might* get obsessed over that eventually)

i can also hereby declare there is a happy ending everyone! again in another issue of Sunny Writes What She Wants To Read the ending has been determined to be a happy, if slightly bittersweet one. I'm sorry I can't cope with bad endings Merlin destroyed me body and soul

the "nowadays" subplot is coming together quite nicely as well! trucy is going to cry a little but you know what? she deserves to have a good cry. she deserves everything in the world and i am going to make sure it is given to her <3

so far we've got trucy struggling to accept kay's presence in her house (not because she doesn't like kay – she does, she doesn't like the fact she has to share parents), trying not to drown in senior year (which can be tough and, in my experience, may cause breakdowns galore) and coping with apollo's departure at the end of spirit of justice (in this au phoenix told them they were siblings when he was meant to btw, i have always found fairly stupid that he didn't do it more immediately). she's also struggling in general because trucy is a very tragic character and i think she does deserve to have a catharsis and must be allowed to be upset too

so yeah! i am very very happy with my progress and with the results I'm getting this far ^^ i am so EXCITED to write it y'all have no idea

I sent you an ask a few weeks ago regarding ACIM (A course in miracles). I just remembered a few stuff reading your latest asks regarding spirituality and someone asking about suffering. Although the book may be complex to read, it offers great insight towards suffering, fears, the 3d illusion. This book has been a groundbreaker for me. I used to be very fearful in the past and defensive. Since I started reading ACIM, fear does not make sense to me. It does not mean I no longer suffer, because I still have my moments lol, but I do have a better outlook on fear. It feels fake, you know. All of the fears that may come to mind feel so insignificant and unreal.

I highly recommend it. On the practical side of the law it may be deficient, but the spiritual side that this book offers is just so amazing, every time I read it I keep getting my mind blown. Since the book was supposedly a message channeled by Jesus to the woman who wrote it, I'm usually reading it and I go "ooooooooh fuckkkkk, JESUS REALLY SAID THAT!!! OMFG DROP THE MIC JESUS! LOUDER FOR THE PEOPLE IN THE BACK". I am sure anyone who reads it will want to befriend Jesus, he's just too cool tbh, and he is blunt af. Also I think it would resonate a lot with you. I've looked for podcasts and videos to see other people's interpretation and it's sad how they read the whole book and still didn't understand the whole thing.

Sorry if this is getting long and unnecessary, but the whole book is about oneness. The whole book JEsus keeps repeating THAT WE CREATE WHAT WE SEE IN OTHER PEOPLE. IF SOMEONE IS AN ASSHOLE IT'S BECAUSE WE CHOSE TO SEE THEM AS SUCH but we can correct that vision by seeing them through love, that thoughTss are not private because we ARE ONEEEEEE. our thoughts influence everyTHING. AND this bitch makes a whole podcast basically implying we are "especial*" and that some people are genuinely evil and she missed the whole point of the book tbh. They don't do justice to my friend Jesus 😪 but for people who are into LOAss, this book is golden

I'm actually so glad to hear from you. To be honest, lately a rather difficult fear kept popping up at full force. I've been practicing what I preach myself, and of course, I sit with it and allow it to be, while knowing how it means nothing. And I truly know it means nothing. But the anxiety it brings can almost be unbearable sometimes. So last night I intended that I would somehow find an answer on how to deal with that. And here you are! Telling me how ACIM has helped you face fear in such a graceful way. I'll take that as a successful manifestation. I'm going to start reading ACIM today. :) Thank you!

I think that... EIYPO is a very difficult concept for people. I see how ACIM doesn't call it that, but essentially it's the same concept. Anyway, I think that it's unfortunate, because it's like a concept that is a must when applying the law. Even now, you do see people who are into the law of assumption who just disregard EIYPO. But in my opinion, we can push off the understanding we are one and that we are the reason people show up the way they do. However, we're going to have to face it eventually. To get full results with the law, accepting EIYPO is essential.

I'm excited to read ACIM and tell y'all what I think about it! 💖

CHARMED 03X09 REVIEW SPOILERS!!!!!

Am I the only one who thought that the breaking of Jordan's Curse was weak as heck? I'll go into further detail about why I didn't care much for it but I feel that it is the main reason I am giving this episode a 7/10. It was solid as far as entertainment goes, but it wasn't as exciting to me as some past episodes have been.

Anyways I guess I will continue on to the dislikes now.

DISLIKES

1) The end of Jordan's curse

Okay y'all, I get the poeticness of jordan being released from his curse by convincing a projection of Florence with his whole the past can't be changed and I am not going to be a violent person/I'm different. My whole issue with this is that the whole curse said you had to balance the scales of justice and that was kinda of exciting to think about how the show was going to go that route and what it might mean as far as tasks go.

This was a decidedly weak way to end a potentially exciting curse. Because the curse wasn't actually "broken" Jordan was released from it.

And on that note, I also have issues with that logic. So the spell was just a simple containment gone wrong because of Jordan's curse....so why was Florence real in it?. Like it is technically trapping then in thier heads in a way. You telling me that Florence's spirit just hangs around in Jordan's mind?

Well since the curse made the spell go haywire that's why Florence was there.....

Okay so this curse can bring back the dead in your mind?

Its magic its fine however they try to explain it. I just wish they'd (the writers) would put more effort into making it make sense in the show. Not in the Q&A section of thier social media pages/interviews.

I am honestly getting tired of having to be Sherlock Holmes all the time and me having to discuss and question on go back to previous episodes to figure out how what they did makes sense in canon. It's exhausting.

And listen, I know that people might see this as negativity, but in the spirit of the episodes message, am I saying it. The writing does not need to be exceptional, but it shouldn't be lazy.

The audience shouldn't have to put in all the work to figure out what's going on. It be one thing if we trying to solve a mystery or speculate on where the show is going , but in general solutions to problems should make sense and be connected to what you've already set up. They spent so much build up on the idea of this curse and the price of "balancing the scales of justice" to have the curse ended all in a simple spell gone wrong narrative. Again, if they felt it was the best to have Jordan released from his cure rather than "break it" thats cool but not in a containment spell gone wrong. I personally didn't need an action scene or anything, but maybe in a spell/plotline actually related directly to the curse. It just came off as an easy out for the writers.

2) Introducing Josefina as a possible recurring character.

Don't hate! I love Josefina as a character and would love to see more of her......but this plate is already full. I have felt it a lot this season, but felt it was a nit pick not worth mentioning because I didn't expect it to get worse, but I am just going to say it.

Every episode has like three or so storylines. And while I dont mind them when they are all equally interesting and feel not too split, I feel that sometimes its too seperate and dis jointed. Its too much time apart and not enough together time. The more character they have introduced the more they have split the stories and I just would prefer that we'd see more together time than separated.

That's kind of what I complained about season two. That it was too much of everyone doing thier own thing that it felt off.

Thats said all I mean is that either they need to figure out how to write in a less disjointed way or to drop some characters. Which would be sad since they have spent a lot of time in the two recurring characters (Jordan and Abby) they already have.

I dont know exactly where they are going with Josefina or if she is going to be as recurring as Jordan and abby or if its more like a few episodes or just one more.

I would like to see more, but I dont trust the writers.....I feel like I say that a lot and that's sad.

LIKES

1) issue of the episode: Exceptionality

I have nothing to say other than thank God someone said it. It's exhausting being pressured into being a "model minority".

2) Josefina

Love the idea of the character and getting to learn more about Marisol and her side of the family.

Also like the idea of witch training. We never actually got to see the PO3 Learn about magic and study magic all that much. Even on season 1 a big issue I had was that they never really put as much effort into showing how the ladies are going about learning and training to fight demons/evil. The training orb was a simple way to do so but we didn't get to see very much of it. It was all mostly assumed off screen.

3) Language issues

I like that they brought up (briefly) the whole language issue in the Latinx community. So I assume most of us know it but ill just go through it a bit.

There are many different voices in the community and there are some that believe that the language (Spanish and/or other native or native based jargon) are essential to the experience. Some go as far as to say you can't really consider yourself latinx if you dont speak Spanish.

Which is bonkers in my mind because (as in episode with Maggie) latinx people face similar issues based on thier appearance and last name whether or not they speak Spanish. There are many latinx people who do not speak Spanish and yet it is assumed they do.

No being raised in a Spanish speaking (or other native language) household does open you up to different experiences (language erasure, ESL school experiences, etc) those aren't soley latinx and shouldn't be a "admissions" requirement.

CHAPTER 1: Love and shopping.

You enter the shop searching for someone who can help you with your magic problems. You ring the bell and immediately, an elve who looks a little startled, runs to his spot. He smiles to you shyly and coughs.

—How may I help you?

You smile back and start talking about the plants you need.

—I need something to my insomnia. You know.

He hums and walks towards a shelves.

—I have the solution for you! Here.

After getting in his hands the plant, he walks to you and smiles again.

—A gift from me.

He immediately blushes.

—Don't think I'm being weird I just-- Um, you seem nice.

You laugh sweetly at him. You saw him around the town, but he seemed busy, also he was always frowning. You don't want to judge, but you were a little bit scared. Seeing him blushing is a blessing to your eyes.

—Thanks! You are cute!

He sees you not laughing but smiling and tries to apologize.

You arrive fifteen minutes earlier, but it surprise you the fact that Kim is already there. He wears a beautiful black suit. He has a flower in his hand and he's looking at the floor. You approach to him and sit down beside him.

—Were you waiting for long?

He makes a little jump and looks at you startled. That was definitely the cutest thing ever.

—N-No! I mean yes! But it's not your fault! I was so excited that I came thirty minutes earlier!

You laugh and bump your shoulder with his.

—Good! It's nice to know I'm not the only one.

He blushes and coughs. He gives you the flower and closes his eyes.

He talks so fast that you have to laugh. Seeing him this nervous is kind of cute.

—It's lovely, thank you!

You take the flower and brush his hands, feeling how he's shaking. You can understand him. Although you are not shivering, but your heartbeats are crazy bumping into your chest.

—I'm glad you like it... So, should we get going to take a good side of the play?

You nod.

—Let's go!

You cross you arm with his and start walking towards the entrance to the theater.

After getting your sits, you both assemble yourselves in the third row of chairs. Tonight's play is one of your favorite. A really fast summary, a couple that rule their kingdom with justice and love.

He asks trying not to avoid your gaze. You look at him and let go his hand so you can cup his face with both of your hands.

Both of you close your eyes and your lips meet in the middle. You can feel his smile. You also can taste coffee in his lips. It's actually so sweet. You let go a sigh you didn't know you were retaining. You feel his lips opening a little, letting your tongue in. You hear a little groan scaping from Kim and before this goes to far, you both separate immediately taking a big puff of air.

—That was... Really something.

He laughs and you join him, feeling like you were floating.

You keep watching the play and after it, you keep him company until you finally reach his house. You both stop in front of his shop.

—Thanks for this night, Kim.

He smiles at you.

—I should be thanking you instead.

—I hope this means you still want to come on dates with me.

You wink and take his hand in yours.

—I had so much fun tonight, y/n. I really want to keep going on dates with you! Also I, um, like your company.

—I'm glad you like me.

—This morning, when I saw you, I was... surprised. I saw you many times around the market. I-- You really seemed nice but I was too shy to talk to you!

He laughs sweetly. God, how can someone be that adorable?

You can feel how he's relaxing by the time you talk. You feel happy and proud at the same time. You made him feel comfortable socializing.

Kim blushes again and with his left hand, he relocate his tie.

Before you can say anything, a shadow appears in front of both of you.

—Are you Kim?

—You must come with me.

The figure reveals their face and you gasp.

I'm sorry but it's unnecessary and actually does fuck all but hurt Sarah if she isn't emotionally ready to be involved in the investigations. Cps was called on them while Sarah was still a minor living with them and nothing came of it, cps was also called on the children multiple times and again nothing has come from it (and the more times you call the less they will care because they need serious cases that they can find in a house investigation and clearly what they've found isn't enough), the police also need Sarah 100% involved or nothing can happen. This is a long and complicated case that is better off not happening than happening badly.

I know, it sucks to see this happen. Hell, I've gone to a stupid length to try and get something done about Onision's child grooming and got told that yeah, he's on the radar but they have worse people out there so there's no point in creating a case based on circumstantial evidence because there is no proof of something happening to an underage child and child grooming is incredibly hard to create a case around. But that's the thing, it's hard, there's no actual court evidence we can bring up against James except for what Sarah has and what she knows in testimony but her testimony could be totally ruined if she is emotional or reluctant during testimony in court. Not to mention, Sarah had probably the biggest reason not to go to the police: if a child sends their nudes they can be charged for child pornography. That's that. If a case is opened and the only evidence that can be used is nudes sent between Eli and Sarah? Sarah is potentially fucked. That's why it has to be her decision to go to the police. She needs to decide whether that risk is worth it to her and her future. The last thing we want is in excitement in seeing James Jackson and Kai Jackson go to jail is throwing Sarah right in with them.

And honestly, Sarah releasing this all publicly is more than enough to ruin James and Kai as long as we keep doing what we're doing. Catalogue shit, archive things, use their legal names and make sure their actions are linked with their names (search James Jackson pierce county, it's a nice result). It really is just as impactful as going to the police in this case. Will Greg go to jail? Maybe not, but his YouTube career is over as well as his Patreon. He can't get a job anywhere due to history and personality. Eli? YouTube is over and his credentials are for basic psychology which could really only get him a job as a guidance counselor and schools will search his name and do proper background checks which will also give them his old names too. Can they get girls? Maybe but they're losing the one thing that got them the perfect girls for their abuse: their influence. Anyone who knows them will stay away and if they're forced to interact with girls out in the world they're not guaranteed to get someone who will deal with their shit. Also neither of them can exactly sit outside of a high school or use teen dating apps. Even if they use tinder y'all know they'll be reported off the apps (shit, James Charles got banned for lying about his gender and he's actually verified). It's all cold comfort for people who believe in the justice system still I'm sure, but it's all we've got and trust me, public opinion and online archives for them is as devastating as jail and results in less possible negatives for Sarah

It is NOT her fault that James Onision Jackson and Kai Jackson groomed her from the age of 14, just to have sexual relations with her.
