Just a little self promo for today because I’ve been thinking about my baseball au recently ✨ (I thought this would be the longest fic I ever wrote but army marriage of convenience is on track to be slightly longer…)

Kiss Me Before it’s Over (If Only for a Minute)

A flash of tanned skin from the corner of his vision catches Buck’s attention, causing him to turn away from his teammates. Across the room is Eddie Diaz, illuminated by the lights of the bar, smiling and laughing with his own teammates. Something churns in Buck’s stomach as he watches him. Buck’s gaze travels down Eddie’s body in spite of himself. He’s unable to stop, realizing he’s never seen Eddie wearing anything but his Angels uniform – the guy keeps his life outside baseball completely private. The soft blue Henley he wears dips low on his chest, exposing his collar bones, and his biceps threaten to rip through the sleeves. Buck’s mouth goes dry as his eyes travel lower, to the black jeans that hug Eddie’s strong thighs. Slowly, Buck’s eyes find their way back to Eddie’s face.

Buck freezes, caught by Eddie’s brown eyes, dark across the room. The music and voices fade into the background as Buck stands trapped by Eddie’s gaze. Heat blooms in his stomach as Eddie’s gaze travel oh so slowly down Buck’s body and back up.

Anger, Buck tells himself. That’s what he’s feels as he stares back at Eddie. But in the back of his mind, he’s just tipsy enough to admit that this feeling in his chest is not anger.

When Eddie’s eyes find Buck’s again, there’s a look on his face that Buck has never seen on the other man before. Buck tells himself that, too, is anger. That Eddie is itching for a fight after Buck hit a homerun on his final pitch. He ignores the tipsy voice in the back of his mind that says the look in Eddie’s eye is also not anger.
