ALBEDO

curiously. you can feel it in the way he shifts against your touch, leaning in and backing away as easily as the tides rise and fall. he’s constantly adapting, changing to better fit the present situation. don’t mistake this as hesitance, though. this is uncharted territory for the both of you, and he’s simply gathering information the best way he knows how. an experiment. the way you lightly gasp when his tongue accidentally swipes against your bottom lip--he remembers it; files it away in his mind for later. it works in the beginning, until you do something that makes his breath catch in his throat. (what, exactly? he...can’t exactly recall, and that’s the problem.) all he knows is that suddenly his cheeks are flushed and his heart is hammering like he’s just run a marathon, every sense of cohesion in his usually organized thoughts spiraling out of control. an unexpected variable, he thinks hazily to himself, cupping the back of your head to guide you to a better angle. in any other of his experiments, the appearance of such a factor would be less than ideal. but here, right now, he doesn’t quite mind.

XIAO

desire? he feels no desire. at least, that’s what he tells himself as he almost goes cross eyed in his attempt to put you in his field of vison. you’re close, closer than he’s ever allowed anyone before that lived to tell the tale. it had taken every ounce of his willpower not to shove you away as soon as you had begun to lean in, and even more once your mouth connected with his, the very same one that had devoured dreams and dealt with death as long as he could remember. but still, he can’t fully bring himself to pull away now. you fool, he thinks, though whether that was directed at himself or at you, he’s not sure. don’t you know that associating with him will bring you nothing but regret? despite it all, you stay, eyes patiently shut as you stand in front of him, the two of you connected only by a kiss. how far he must have fallen, to the point he finds himself participating in pointless mortal customs such as...this. though, there’s nothing pointless about how the corner of your mouth turns up at the fact he hasn’t rejected you just yet, or the way your heartbeat flutters as he begins to press back. he’s attuned to each and every action your body performs, and perhaps he can feel his own heart rate increasing as well, to the point it almost becomes impossible to deny any longer. he wants you. 

ZHONGLI

slowly. the seconds and minutes blend together in the warmth of his body on yours, but time is irrelevant to a being such as he. (by association, you decide it’s irrelevant to you as well.) he’s always been known for his almost inhuman memory, but as his soft lips move gently against yours, savoring the way you taste and quietly mumble his name against his mouth, hands tightening on the lapels of his coat, he realizes this is one memory he can’t afford to lose. he’s kissed you a hundred times, and he’ll kiss you a thousand more if it means constantly refining the image of you in his mind to perfection, beautiful and glowing like the finest piece of cor lapis he’s ever seen. his lips chase after you even as you pull away briefly for air, a breathless laugh escaping you in the process. this is the contract of your love, sealed with a kiss for every day he’s loved you.
