this post is an old announcement post of mine which i cannot go back and make unrebloggable. if you see someone has reblogged this post, they are an asshole who disrespects boundaries.

in case there’s anyone out there who checks my blog, but doesn’t read my author’s notes... you should really read them. here’s what i posted today:

the first section of the notes, at the beginning of the chapter, reads:

so, why is glacial thaw leaving ao3 for the time being? well, because people here on ao3 have repeatedly dismissed or ignored the boundaries i set by bookmarking and kudo'ing this fic despite being enjoyers and creators of content that makes me feel unsafe at best, and so i don't feel comfortable or safe hosting updates for such a personal fic here any longer. therefore, chapter eleven and onward will be posted as followers-only on pillowfort. (depending on how i feel about ao3 by the time the proposed blocking and muting features are implemented, i might bring it back over here later, but that's not a guarantee. i have some sincere criticisms about the fandom culture and lack of moderation for certain issues on this site which would need to be addressed beforehand as well.)

so anyway, yeah, glacial thaw lives on pillowfort now. on pillowfort, i can block the creeps who fetishize horrifying content and actually feel safe.

ps: i didn’t want to get into it in my author’s notes, because a lot of people on ao3 suck, but my sincere criticisms about the ao3 fandom culture and lack of moderation are mostly about the unchecked racism, predatory grooming, and child porn! and also because ao3 is so fucking over-funded every time they ask for donations despite there being many issues that need people’s donations more than a supposedly nonprofit website already sitting on more than enough funds to keep running for years! and it has been in beta for over a decade and they are only just now in this year thinking about implementing basic safety features like blocking and muting!
