Headcannon: Erik & M’baku fighting over the reader.

Erik and M’Baku fighting over you:

Erik and M’Baku not realizing they’ve been competing against each other for you

Being one of Wakanda’s greatest warriors, and although M’Baku has never met you in person, he’s heard stories about you and admired you from afar

And when Erik first steps foot in Wakanda, you immediately catch his eye

At first, it’s just because he finds you attractive, but when he learns of your reputation, it just makes you all the more impressive

Him trying to appoint you to be his second in command, because it’s an excuse to spend more time with you

But also because he doesn’t see anyone else as more capable than you

Him talking about his plans with you, and doing whatever he can to seem impressive

Which only pisses him off so much more when you and Nakia flee Wakanda to help Shuri and Ramonda escape, because he thought you were developing a connection

Then you get to meet M’Baku for the first time, and him trying his best not to freak out

Also, because all the stories he heard never mentioned how attractive you are

Putting up an indifferent front, even trying to put you down

“The famous y/n, asking me for help. What a turn of events.” “Our home is under attack, and I will do whatever I need to save it.”

M’Baku deciding he’d help you right from the moment he laid eyes on you, but playing hard to get

Him feeling a swell of pride whenever he sees you crack a smile or even snicker at one of his bad jokes or sarcastic remarks

When the battle against Killmonger’s forces and the Dora Milaje and T’Challa occurs, you attack Erik directly with Nakia and Shuri

Him pinning you down, but hesitating to attack you

“You know, I’m kinda taking this personally.” “Good, because it is personal.” “God, we could’ve made such a great team, but you went and chose the wrong side.”

When M’Baku and the Jabari come to help, his grand entrance is partially to show off to you

M’Baku always looking out for you on the battlefield, even though you’re more than capable of fighting for yourself and not needing someone to defend you

“Aren’t you glad to see me, y/n?” “I knew you would change your mind.”

And even though you never considered being on Erik’s side, you’re glad to be on the side fighting for T’Challa alongside M’Baku, Nakia, Shuri and the Dora Milaje
