oh i just remembered that i saw shawn mendes open for taylor swift in like 2015 and i had never heard of him before. most people in the stadium seemingly hadn't, though there was a small group of preteen girls in the nosebleeds behind me screaming for him lol. i remember thinking he was actually quite brave for going out on that massive stage and just performing alone with his guitar. i could barely fucking hear him, but still. takes guts to do that once, let alone a bunch of times on tour.
