Buck slouches a bit behind him, enough to rest his chin on Eddie’s shoulder even as he smiles enquiringly at Brie. And listen, Buck has never really been an outwardly jealous person. Not towards any of Eddie’s previous partners, before he and Eddie got together. If anything, Eddie’s the one who has historically behaved more than a little possessive when it comes to Buck. And it’s not like he wants Buck to do the whole insecure laying-claim-to-him thing; he likes that Buck’s so secure in who they are to each other that he’s never felt the need to make a public point of it. But since they’ve gotten together, Buck—he hasn’t drastically changed in this regard, per se, but it’s like now that he knows he’s allowed to have Eddie in this way, that Eddie is his, he’s more than happy to play it up as obnoxiously as possible, given the opportunity. Any single parents trying it on at PTA bake sales are briskly shut down by the way Buck will holler a baby, did you forget the gluten-free labels at home? across the schoolyard, and Bobby had to spend an hour berating him after that one victim made a comment about Eddie in the harness and Buck cheerfully told him that however serious or irreparable his brain damage was, at least he could still appreciate the simple beauty in life, even if this particular simple beauty happened to be Buck’s boyfriend’s ass. It doesn’t feel like it comes from any root of insecurity, these days, and Eddie would be lying if he said he didn’t love every moment of it. He’s never needed it, but it’s fun and it’s hot and the way Buck is kissing his shoulder and murmuring, “Hi,” in his ear does make something warm curl in his gut and scratch a deep, horny itch.
