uhhh uhhh something about gunslinger!geto who's an outlaw that just broke out of jail and yet when he sees you hop into a stagecoach, he places you under his protection just so he can hitch a ride to whatever destination you're going. however, you establish really early that you're not gonna let him just be a stowaway taking up legroom in the carriage. so, he actually starts acting like a guard for you.

he offers his hand for stability when you're entering or exiting the carriage. he won't let any man give you shit about you or your family's reputation. he'll hand you the canteen before he drinks so you can get as much as you need before him. he lets you hold one of his revolvers when he sleeps so you're both armed. he throws his body over yours when bandits strike in the hills. he points out constellations and tells you their stories when you can't sleep until you're snoring. and, lo and behold, he falls for you hard.

turns out you're on your way to marry someone several towns over, so he challenges the guy to a shootout for your hand. he wins, of course, and pulls out a ring that he definitely swiped from one of the richer bankers at one of your stops.
