since you promised here it is mind you this was written a while back and idk I might wanna rework some stuff but I still stand by most of this I think I was right. literally just the full text of the doc pasted under read more so like idk beware if you don't want a very very long post 👍
dmtnt rewrite maybe idk
opening
Opening scene has Henry go out to sea and jump in, same as usual except we don’t get to follow him. We watch from the beach as Will emerges with him in his arms, putting him back on land, clearly hurt. Henry says something about how he came to see him and Will is like that’s very sweet child but you’ll have to wait and then starts to back off. Henry looks up for like a moment and we get a shot of Will transforming into a monster, Henry screams, end of cold open. Title drop here methinks.
ten years later
Cut to him on that one navy ship, the scene basically progresses as normal, with Henry spotting the triangle and trying to get the captain to turn the ship around. Only difference is in this version the captain says they’re being chased by pirates and need to hide, instead of chasing down some pirates. Henry tries to argue, gets his sleeves ripped and is thrown in the brig. We get the same thing with Henry dropping the wanted posters for Jack or whatever and him and his fellow prisoner talk a bit (Henry explaining that he needs to find Jack but not why and the other prisoner, pirate himself, saying that Jack is captured and set to hang on Saint Martin) while we get to experience the ship sailing into the triangle from their perspective.
Things gradually get darker, quieter, etc like basically a horror sequence and then people start getting murdered. We hear screams, and get that scene of the blood dripping into the cells and Henry tries desperately to break himself out before Salazar and the crew finally appear. He first approaches the other prisoner, asking who he is, and when he can’t bring himself to respond one of the crew pulls up his sleeve to reveal a pirate brand and he gets gutted. Henry gets asked next and he tells them he’s not a pirate and that he was recently kicked from the navy. At first, the crew don’t believe him, but when they see his ripped sleeves they’re like aight an enemy of the english is a friend of ours and agree not to kill him.
Salazar sees the wanted posters and does his whole “you know zis pirate” thing as per usual and when Henry says he’s looking for him he says it’s probably best for Henry to stay away, actually, since they’re coming to get him. “When the sea of our prison runs red with blood.” Henry gets hauled out and stuck in a rowboat and in a panicked state just tries to get away.
witch escape
Cut to Carina, doing her confession with the priest scene and escaping. She runs through the fort, hiding from guards and eventually disguising herself as a nurse.
She tries to look for the exit now that she’s a bit more inconspicuous, but gets pulled along by this head nurse lady who tells her there’s someone she needs to look after, a man who was picked up at sea and whose hands are like fucked up from rowing so hard. Also he’s probably a deserter and also insane bc he was rambling about ghosts and tridents and what have you and Carina is like hmmmm.
She watches over Henry as he wakes up, then asks him about the trident and he explains that he’s been searching for it for years with no luck, but that he thinks he knows someone who could help them. Carina is like “you seem reasonable enough” and manages to unlock his chains, but is then discovered by the guards and captured, while Henry escapes. Also as the scene ends we find out that a suspicious figure has been listening to them somehow like idk hiding behind a wall. They leave once the drama is all over.
sea runs red
Cut back to the triangle where a pirate ship sails in, and we get to see how the Silent Mary trails her. Salazar and his crew appear on deck and the pirate crew immediately gear up to fight. The captain says something about how Salazar really doesn’t wanna mess with them since they sail under the pirate king’s flag, but Salazar just laughs and they’re all slaughtered. We see the undead crew dump their bodies in the sea, and as it turns more and more red it starts to boil, and the triangle cracks open, letting them out. This can lead into the scene where one of Barbossa’s ships gets eaten straight up because that was cute idc.
legendary pirate
Cut to night, with Henry sneaking his way into the fort disguised as a navy man. He finds Carina, carving astronomical maps into her wall and then pulling out that diary of hers. She covers its backstory (not how she got it) and then she and Henry watch the whole blood moon phenomenon, with Carina figuring out that a specific formation of stars lead to an island where they’ll find the trident. Henry is very impressed and it’s cute or whatever, and he says that he’ll be right back to break her out and then they’ll be on their way to find the trident, but that there’s something he has to do first.
He leaves and goes looking through the cells, finding most of them empty until one where there’s a sleeping figure. He approaches and says he’s looking for Jack, to which the figure visibly reacts but tells Henry to piss off. Henry keeps pushing and the figure eventually asks who’s asking, to which Henry gives his name and the figure sits up, revealing himself as Jack.
Henry is really stoked to see him, saying he’s been searching for years and that he’s going to break Jack out, but Jack is obviously not very impressed. Henry pushes, saying that Jack is his only hope and telling him that when he was a kid his mother would tell him stories about how Jack was kind of a cunt yeah but a good man in the end. To that, Jack says that Henry should just go back home to mummy, but Henry says that he can’t.
He explains that because of him, Will’s curse sort of moved to the scary monster stage, and now he can’t bear to see his mother again until he’s set things right. Jack seems to consider things but when he takes too long to respond, Henry says that they’re going to hang him anyway, to which Jack is like “yeah, tomorrow, who give a shit”. He says that he can’t help Henry and when it looks like Henry is going to say something more he calls for the guards and Henry is forced to run off. We see him hiding in an alley, when he suddenly gets jumped by someone.
the fleet
Meanwhile Barbossa is like chilling on the Revenge eating his apples and whatever. Some of his men bring in a man who’s very scared and obviously wounded or whatever, and he tells the tale of what happened to that one ship we saw get eaten earlier. Barbossa asks what the name of the ship that attacked them was, kind of implying whoever it was is in big trouble, but when he hears it was the Silent Mary he’s visibly shaken.
He heads over to Shansa and asks what the hell is going on, to which she explains that the crew bound to the devil’s triangle had to pay some kind of due or whatever to be let out and that they’re now free to run loose. Keep the bit where she suggests he retire I think it’s funny. When he doesn’t go along with that she gives him the compass which had been confiscated from Jack some time ago. Barbossa leaves to get the Revenge ready to sail.
hang the witch
Cut to the morning after, with both Jack and Carina getting dragged off to get executed. They can get a funny interaction or something, maybe Carina understands he’s the reason she didn’t get to escape and Jack’s just kinda like them’s the breaks kid or whatever.
Anyway, execution scene commences, Carina does her speech again because it’s funny, change Jack’s lines to be less stoner jokes and more please hurry up and let me die already. Also Henry’s diversion line can stay, it’s cute. Gibbs and the gang show up to save them all and they head over to the Dying Gull, where the crew has been camping out. On the way, Henry explains to Carina that they found him back in that alley and helped him, and that they’re very experienced sailors and whatnot. She’s not impressed, especially when they get to the ship.
There, some discussion ensues, since the crew are kind of wary of Jack since he’s basically just given up. Henry does a little speech and eventually manages to get them all on board for the trident quest, hyping up Carina in the process, and they set sail with Jack kind of sulking in the background.
deal with the dead
Meanwhile, Barbossa manages to get in touch with Salazar and after a lot of tension between the two crews Salazar and Barbossa strike that ‘find Jack before the next day’ deal or whatever it’s kinda dumb. Might workshop later.
we’ve found him
Cut to some cool meeting room where the suspicious figure from the scene where Carina first meets Henry enters and says something cryptic about how they’ve found ‘him’. No elaboration on this.
do you believe in ghosts?
Back on the Gull we get Henry and Carina talking to each other a bit about this trident quest, some more squabbling about if the supernatural is real or whatever but we get the sense they’re mostly arguing for sport. Somehow the conversation leads into the father topic (Probably Henry being like well. proof of the supernatural is my dad is fucking Cursed) and we see Carina looking kind of off (bc fatherless). Henry asks what the matter is and it looks like she might respond but she’s cut off when Jack emerges from the shadows or whatever and makes some snide comment about how he can’t stand the flirting, then gives Carina some offhand advice about navigation (idk anything about that so you have to make it up ok? ok.) and fucks off. Henry and Carina say some awkward goodbyes and part ways.
Jack runs into Gibbs who tries to reminisce a bit saying something about how it’s nostalgic to have a Turner on board for some mad quest, but Jack brushes it off and goes off to sulk somewhere.
jackstory
We go back to Barbossa and Salazar starts going over his Jack backstory which can be roughly the same except without the stupid compass thing Jack just already has it and when the captain dies he uses it to get them out of the pinch. Also we don’t get to see what happens with him after Salazar goes into the triangle since, you know, he wouldn’t know, so it’s left pretty ambiguous. I do think we should have the “this is the day you shall always remember”-line I think that would be cute.
run away
Anyway, back in the present Salazar is about to gut Barbossa but then they spot the Gull on the horizon and the chase is on. The crew of the Gull including Henry and Carina freak out seeing the two large ships heading straight for them, especially when Henry recognises the Mary. He doesn’t know the name of it but knows it’s business and after a lot of panicking Jack eventually reasons that since the Gull isn’t very fast or manoeuvrable they’re better off getting to land and working from there. Quick exchange of looks between Gibbs and him (“I knew you weren’t completely out of it you snake/pos”/”whatever just don’t let us die right this instant”) then they head for some tiny island in the distance.
It’s a close call, with the Mary leading the chase and Barbossa intentionally stalling, eventually dropping out entirely and heading off somewhere else. I like the zombie sharks so like maybe if there’s more of them they can do a number on the Gull and get everyone in some serious trouble. Jack takes more command during the chase and starts to “wake up” a bit, and they eventually just sort of run aground, the Gull basically shattering in the process.
The crew scramble up on land and see Salazar’s crew following them but we get the whole dissolve on land thing I guess it’s kind of dumb but I’ll allow it. Jack reverts back pretty hard to his more bitter persona or whatever when talking to Salazar - Salazar says something about how Jack is dead the moment he leaves the island and Jack responds that he’ll make sure to die on it then, to rob Salazar of the satisfaction. Salazar’s crew hiss a bit more then go back to their ship. Also Carina does that thing where she freaks out about ghosts and runs off, and Henry follows her.
Quick cut to some navy ship that’s been going after the Gull, basically just explaining that they exist and that they’re going to capture the escaped prisoners. Very basic.
run away again
Back on the island, we see Henry running after Carina, until she’s captured by some of Barbossa’s men. Henry considers fighting, but quickly realises that he’s severely outnumbered and runs off, promising to get help.
We cut to the crew who have set up camp somewhere in the woods and are discussing what to do next. The Mary is anchored right off the island, and the Gull is in no condition to sail so they’re basically stuck and Jack is back to being unhelpful so it’s up to the crew to do something. They’re in the middle of talking when Henry storms in and begs them to come help save Carina, which they agree to after being reminded that she’s the only one who can find the trident.
The gang head into the woods ready for a fight and eventually stumble upon Barbossa and his group, captured Carina included. Barbossa basically takes them all hostage, and starts going on about how Jack carries a way for them all to get off the island with him blah blah blah.
They head down to the beach on the side of the island furthest away from the Mary, with Barbossa saying that the Pearl is the only ship that’s fast enough to get away from her. He tells some of his crew to stay on the Revenge and follow the Mary once she starts trailing the Pearl and be ready to provide backup. He then does the magic trick or whatever to get the Pearl out and we get a moment of genuine hope from Jack which is almost immediately undercut when he’s reminded that he’s still a hostage. The whole gang boards the Pearl and sail off, managing to stay out of the Mary’s range as they leave the island, and then getting a solid lead.
goodbye saint martin
Back to Saint Martin. Shansa gets a visitor in the form of the suspicious figure and a group of other pirates who ask her where the ship that set out to capture the escaped witch and pirate sailed. She uses magic to get them the heading in exchange for her freedom and the group leave. When Shansa follows them out of her cell she finds the fort has been completely ransacked, and we the viewers get to see that this extends to the whole town.
you are the father
On the Pearl, Henry complains to Barbossa about how this ship is supposed to be incredibly fast, but the Mary is slowly gaining on them, and gets sent off almost immediately. Barbossa and Carina look over the course and we get Carina using that thing that Jack taught her earlier, it’s a moment idc. She then takes out the diary and Barbossa asks a bunch of questions about it, with Carina saying it was a gift from her father and what have you. Barbossa is obviously shaken by this, and shifts the conversation back to the course again, giving Carina the compass and saying that she can probably use it better than him (stronger ambition or whatever). He leaves and Jack starts calling for him from wherever he’s tied up.
They talk and Jack reveals that he’s figured out that Barbossa is Carina’s father since idk he was there when Barbossa first got his hands on that diary, plus Barbossa is acting weird and he can’t see any other explanation. Might keep the bit where Barbossa admits it all and Jack is like “Really? I was bluffing” that could be cute if done right also we HAVE to keep in him calling Barbossa daddy that is a must. Barbossa immediately susses out that Jack wants something from him and Jack is like yeah. my fucking ship back to which Barbossa just shoves that rag in his mouth or something and leaves.
We cut back to Carina, with Henry popping up from wherever he’d been hiding and apologising for accidentally listening in. The two of them talk some more dads and Carina goes into some more detail about hers, explaining that she used to dream of finding the trident so she’d be famous and somehow earn his love back, but then brushes that off as just a childish dream. She and Henry have a moment until Henry sees the Mary getting a lot closer and goes to alert the crew.
mary vs pearl
We get a chase/action scene where the Mary continues to gain on them, eventually catching up. Her crew starts boarding the Pearl and we get lots of fighting. At some point Barbossa cuts Jack loose and after some bitching that eventually escalates into a full on argument, Jack takes the wheel. He manages to steer them away from the Mary, but Henry gets captured in the scuffle. Maybe have some shots that parallel what we saw of Jack and Salazar in the flashback that could be cute.
island
Anyway the crew get on the cool star island and Carina wants to go back and get Henry but Jack convinces her that they’re better off getting the trident since that will give them an advantage in negotiations and she eventually agrees, and it’s good Jack and Carina bonding. Maybe a hug + have a moment where Jack and Barbossa exchange looks bc daughter drama or whatever.
Carina gathers herself and is like okay how the fuck do I do this. She looks through the diary for a bit then the island and is like oh my god I get it. Runs off without any explanation, really, with Jack and Barbossa following her, yelling at the crew to stay behind and have their backs or whatever, more captain bickering but just a little bit. They catch up with Carina who looks a bit lost saying there’s a star missing, and the gang do a bit of thinking before they eventually realise that it’s the stone from the diary. The whole segment is basically Carina bonding with her dads, and it ends with her going to put the missing star back.
divide
On the Mary, the crew interrogate Henry about the trident, but he refuses to reveal any information. They’re about to start cutting his fingers off or whatever, when the ship suddenly starts rocking, and they look overboard to find the sea going absolutely craycray.
Cut back to Carina and the gang, the waves from the splitting sea pull her in and when Jack reaches out to grab her he gets yanked along and the two of them roll down the hill onto the bottom of the ocean.
Back to the Mary, where Salazar quickly realises this must be where the trident is. The crew are like noo captain you can’t go down there it’s land he’s like it’s technically the ocean bitches I’m going in, then orders the crew to throw Henry overboard before he jumps over and like idk wall runs down the divide bc he can walk on water remember.
Carina and Jack find their footing, and Carina spots the trident while Jack spots Salazar. The two of them make a run for it, but Salazar lands between them and the trident.
Seeing this, his crew follow him, and just sort of drop Henry into the water on their way. We can get a cool shot of Henry seeing them run from inside the wall of water before the currents pull him away completely. He’s fighting for his fucking life trying to swim, but the currents are wilding out and he eventually runs out of breath. We see his eyes start to close, as a shadow appears beneath him.
Jack and Carina are completely surrounded by the Spanish and Salazar starts to taunt them, but then a fucking scary ass monster emerges from the wall of water, with Henry in its arms. The Spanish are startled, Carina is fucking terrified, but Jack is like holy shit William moment and calls out for him. While Salazar looks back at Jack like you know this fucking thing, Will draws his sword, his crew join up behind him and they charge the spanish.
As the two cursed crews clash, Carina runs to get Henry and Jack tries to follow her, but gets cut off by Salazar who’s fucking committed to killing him dead. He does a number on Jack, but then gets interrupted by Will and the two of them go at it.
battle continues
Up on the Pearl, Gibbs and the gang spot English ships coming towards them. The crew all agree they should get the fuck out, but this is when Barbossa arrives and is like absolutely the fuck not. He argues the Revenge, which is also on the horizon, can handle them fine and tells the crew to drop anchor.
We get more of the fighting on the seabed, and as it goes on, Salazar’s crew very slowly start disintegrating, as Will’s crew get more and more monstrous the longer the fight goes on bc like that loophole is Not perfect. This is happening with Salazar and Will themselves as well, with pieces of skin and stuff breaking off of Salazar and Will barely recognisable + snarling like a beast or whatever.
While this is going on, Carina is pulling Henry away from it all since he’s still unconscious, and Jack is making his way through the fight, trying to get to the trident. He eventually gets to it, and has a moment of triumph, then hears some horrific screech and looks to see Will just kind of biting into Salazar, ignoring everything Salazar throws at him. Jack tries to use the trident but has absolutely no idea how it works and eventually just runs at the two of them, tackling Will back into the water proper. They have a little moment where Will seems to regain some sense, and Jack just shakes his head at him since he can’t talk because underwater. It’s interrupted when Salazar yanks Jack out, now looking completely messed up. His crew are calling for him as they try to retreat back to the water, but Will’s crew - who are doing the same - stop them, and they start disappearing. Salazar ignores them, just focused on kicking Jack around.
Henry finally wakes up, and he and Carina have a cute little moment where she hugs him, and the two of them assess the situation. They eventually figure out the break the trident thing, and yknow. do that. Salazar immediately realises something’s up, which gives Jack an opening to scurry away. We get to see him reassembling, as well as the crew of the Dutchman getting uncursed. They can still chill underwater tho like they’re fine.
Salazar is just sort of basking in his new normal skin and such, while Jack, Henry and Carina gather and start thinking about how to get the fuck out. This becomes more urgent as the sea starts to close up again. They start running, with Salazar on their heels and things look dire until Barbossa drops down on the Pearl’s anchor. The gang gets on and starts to climb, and it’s a bit of a struggle with Salazar hanging onto the anchor. He makes a grab for Carina at which point Barbossa makes his sacrifice, right as the water closes in around them.
battle ends
The crew of the Pearl watch in horror as the water swallows the anchor and panic trying to decide what to do. The English are close now, and the Revenge is right by them, and there’s some debate between the two equally goofy crews, before a shot rings out. The crews briefly panic before realising it’s not the English firing, but the Empress and a few other ships, which have suddenly appeared. This scares the English off, and the pirates cheer.
The Dutchman surfaces near the Empress, and we find that the gang are all safe onboard. Some cute moments as everyone checks if everyone is alright, Carina asking Barbossa why he saved her and him having the perfect moment for a dramatic reveal but choosing not to etc. Then Will shows up and he and Henry get to reunite and it’s very emotional. Elizabeth boards the Dutchman in full pirate king getup and it’s everything. We finally get a whole family reunion and both her and Will chastise Henry for running off on his own. Carina watches looking kind of melancholy and Jack like idk pats her on the shoulder or whatever.
pirates in the caribbean karaoke dance party
I think the crews should all have a cute little get together on the Empress. I think they’ve earned it. Lots of cute character interactions here like idk telling old stories and stuff.
After a while things do get a bit more serious. We get a scene with Will and Elizabeth where he explains that while he’s no longer bound to the Dutchman he still feels like he needs to do the job, since he’s seen what happens to those souls lost at sea when there’s no one there to take care of them and he’s still technically captain. It’s not horrible tho bc he’s much more free now and can come back and say hi when he wants to. Still emotional.
Everyone is starting to split up - Jack and Barbossa are on like okay terms and toy with the idea of sailing together though on different ships. Henry and Carina talk and Henry says he’s going to sail with Elizabeth and invites Carina to come along. She’s not 100% in tho bc of the melancholy and eventually says she can’t. She says she will still be sailing though bc she wants to see the sea or whatever and while Henry is disappointed he’s still supportive and is like yeah maybe you’ll find your dad. Carina is like hahaha yeah (looking at Jack) maybe I will and the two part ways.
sequel baity post credits scene
goes here idk
character notes
Henry: feels guilty after he basically worsened Will’s curse and wants the trident to break that curse
Carina: as a child she dreamed of finding the trident, becoming famous and as such drawing her father out of hiding and sort of “earning” his love, but she has long since given up on that and now just wants to be famous, having grown up with absolutely zilch
Jack: has basically given up on life, walks a tightrope between nihilistic and actively suicidal, but comes to care for Henry and Carina as the adventure goes on
Barbossa: motivated first by self-preservation, but then by wanting to help Carina
Salazar: still just kind of the devil
do u guys wanna see my doc titled dmtnt rewrite maybe idk you have to promise not to call it cringe
