When you really..reaaally wanna answer something over on sub speaks but you’re pretty sure your answer is gonna get you shot in the kneecaps.
I do wanna put my two cents in tho lmao.
LONG THING UNDER THE CUT
I don’t believe anyone is particularly upset over the any one person on Subeta when it comes to CWs but more-so what’s become of the CW market on Subeta. (If anyone thinks any one person is responsible then you’re wrong :l, this is a community problem that’s worsened over time).
I think people are frustrated that if they don’t have csc permanently on hand they have to pray they have an item to trade for it. OR trade a higher than slot csc price for it.
It’s super easy to get brought into the ‘hype’ of popular releases, a lot of people end up chasing down items they don’t even want just to hoard for their value. But that value rarely holds. And because they cant get the csc worth, trading happens.

There are many examples of this but I’m gonna use the Pie Strands as an example.
The Pie Strands as a set are a great example of an item set that has no set value. I have seen, the very same colour go for 1.5k - 2k one week and sell as low as 800csc the next in open trades. Other colours I’ve seen locked in a ‘trade only’ fashion, where the owner is trying to trade it for another item thats been hyped to the same status. For the longest time I only ever saw these in trades for other items that were equally or more-so difficult to obtain.
So, why haven’t these strands retained the same value.
Simple, they’re not as popular as the hype around them. Only a set few people have hunted them down over time and collected entire sets or just the set colours they want for HA’s. So the vast majority of colours have’nt retained their value at all. (if you were lucky enough, you could sell it to one of the collectors for a higher price but in the wider market that value drops significantly dependant on the colour).
And I honestly think that’s the biggest problem right now. People are trying to tag an immediate worth to any item so anything remotely ‘pretty’ will get collected and put up for trade or just hold for a later date. And this is now so common that items are barely being swapped outside of friendship groups.
Of the large amount of ‘hyped’ items only a small portion retain their ‘hyped’ value. (It’s not like some of the older CW items that had very limited colours/ slots, those have retained value because they’re actually rare, or wanted, or most probably private @___@).
This by no means means these newer items are unwanted. Just unwanted at the inflated price (and thats important). I’m sure they’d be snapped up fast if they were suddenly being resold for 700-800csc each. They are... for the most part, as wanted as any regular slot items, not. a. rare.

One thing to consider though, if there are 20 colours of a set item for example, Say the artist and the seller got a copy each. Even if there were only ten slots of each colour that means there are 160 of these on site somewhere. So unless you really, really REALLY need that item for personal use it’s probably not worth playing the market for. And I can guarantee that item will decrease in worth over time. It sucks but sometimes it’s very much a waiting game.

But Spirit, the same people have EVERRRYYTHING AND ITS NOT FAIR.
So what? They have the CSC/ been there long enough/ played the market well enough to get to that state leave em be. Are you willing to spend the sometimes hundreds irl some of them have spent to get those collections? No? Are you willing to put the hours upon hours stalking every single store/ trade centre/ have subeta on your phone when you’re out, doing absolutely everything it takes to get every single CSC you can grab?
No? Then hush.
‘But they keep making everything inflated’-
No, an items only worth what it sells for. And if it hasn’t sold for a while then it’s worth becomes questionable. If it never sells at all it becomes worthless. I’ve seen it many times before, an item sells for a high amount a long time ago and the new owner becomes unable to get their CSC / item worth back for it. They in turn have to wait to find someone who wants the item badly enough to cover the original cost, and that is often a long, very slow process.
Again, this doesn’t apply to every item out there. There are, and will always be those items that are difficult to obtain and highly wanted across the board but... this isn’t as common a thing as people are making it out to be.

If you can’t afford to play the market the way it is then literally don’t. play. it. you’ll just get angry and frustrated. And by playing the current market you’re helping it to stay that way. There are many, MANY stunning items across Subeta both CW and site made, and I refuse to believe we all want to be wearing the same 20 CW items, we are way more diverse/ fashionable than that ;). This is coming from someone who once tried to play the market herself and not only ended up frustrated but not even caring for what I got. So I was out of CSC and wearables I was truly happy with.
Now, I just go for items I can realistically afford. If an item has been sitting in trades-only-ville over a span of months for super rares that item becomes a non-factor to me and I move on. I in no way attempt to trade nor play to that market. I also won’t go over 1kcsc for any item under a year old (and even then I gotta reaaaaaaaaaaaallly want it, there’s only one newish item I believe that I’ve made that purchase with and not grown to regret it).
Also the trade centres a goldmine for cw’s if you’re just a lil patient <3. I’ve seen everything from pies to monster milkshakes to... uh.. ‘insert item name here’ s all for decent CSC prices! :D, it’s a slow process but deals are there.

I will say this though, I DO think there’s a big problem between the selling of CW’s and the ability for many to obtain them. Releasing items on an almost weekly basis across many sellers means that a lot of people on the site that can’t access steady amounts of csc per week will feel excluded, if they so choose to spend their savings on one item, they may feel punished when another appears days later they wanted more. (Farming CSC through the site alone sucks potatoes and in no way would get you a CSC item per week let alone several).
This is not a fault of the buyer nor the seller it’s just something I’ve noticed, it’s almost like as a whole, the demand is significantly lower than the supply. (This is probably why immediate reselling is becoming a common thing).

Also there’s a wardrobe featuring every single released item you can preview with items you own, use it. Many CW items are only made to compliment others/and or certain outfits so impulse buying isn’t really the best way to go anymore.
Now if you excuse me I’m gonna go farm sp.
