Since the weekend is upon us, you probably won't hear from me as it's booked (as usual wah wah), so I'll try and make this ask good.
As soon as I read Alias Grace, I immediately reread it. Margaret Atwood, without exaggeration, changed my life. Now I will definitely try out Sheri S. Tepper!
Yes!!! Goonies never say diiiiiiiiiiiiiiie! I went to Astoria just to visit the filming locations and even got to touch the ORV (and the bullet holes haha). Your taste is immaculate, mbbdarling! The LOTR movies are my all-time favorites.
You don't have to say your age specifically, but are you also a child of the 80s or maybe the 90s?
You have really lived a lot! So super cool. My uncle was also a pilot, though he was always US-based. I have been to Germany a couple of times, too. We have family there, and I also majored in German in college. It holds the most special place in my heart.
I suspected you were a fantasy-lover, so maybe I was being rather sneaky there as all four of those genres are my faves. I couldn't lose! //evil laughter//
SORCHA. IS. LIFE. As we rewatched it this past weekend, it hit me--she's probably the reason why I'm obsessed with and drawn to curly redheads.
Speaking of hair, are you a long or short hair person? You have a fave hair color? (I've dyed my hair red for the last 20 years, and I'll probably dye it until I go gray--I also love all-gray hair.)
I can't talk about Lee Scoresby... </3 I am also a profound lover of Iorek Byrnison, though I revile that damn golden monkey. //clenches fist//
You like video games like my bestie does! I am not a gamer--I love watching others play--with two exceptions: Chrono Trigger and Chrono Cross. The only two video games I ever loved. :)
Those are SOLID tropes. I love those, too! Found family goes hand-in-hand with quests, which you already know I love. Nothing beats a good ensemble of characters.
I'd probably end up being the leader, I guess, so I'm coming to you, my consigliere, for all the plans and schematics. I will trust in your fastidious nature to lead us safely to the dragon's hoard!
Okay, more nosy questions time.
If you were an animal, what would you be:
Dream job:
House, apartment, cabin, or treehouse:
And back to MX--
Favorite MX photoshoot/aesthetic:
Favorite Hyungwon hairstyle:
Favorite Jooheon hairstyle:
(Examples are always appreciated *wink wink*)
Have the best weekend, mbbdarling! Take good care of yourself and smile lots!
NO. WAY. Chrono Trigger and Chrono Cross are my all time favorite games 😂 I'm starting to think we're the same person!! I almost cried when I found out that they had finally re-released Chrono Cross for the PS4, I'm just about to start getting relics from the dragons.
I was a short hair person all through high school and most of my early 20s but I have been a long hair person for years now. I had it down to my butt at one point but I recently gave myself a long wolfcut just before my partner and I went to see Ateez. I've had it so many colors (I was a punk back in the day, so I've always liked dying it) but it is currently fire engine red and I think I'll keep it that way for a while. I also recently did a blue to purple ombre, half neon green and half black, half pink and half blue (that was for Seventeen!), and all black.
Okay questions time!
What Animal Would You Be: Definitely some kind of corvid. I identify too strongly with bluejays, but crows are also excellent.
Dream Job: I actually love the job I have right now (which I won't be specific about for privacy reasons, but its an admin position) but I secretly always wanted to have a self-sufficient farm and a little shop where I could sell handmade candles and soaps and handspun and dyed yarn lol
House, Apartment, Cabin, or Treehouse: Okay it's not practical at all but I would absolutely love to live in a treehouse like the ones that they have in Hook. But since that would never ever happen in a million years, a cabin in the woods is the ideal.
Favorite MX Aesthetic: Okay look. I really really love the Shootout jumpsuits. Jooheon especially looks super hot in them.
Favorite Hyungwon Hair: THE GRAY HAIR AKDKKSKAKZKSKAK LOOK AT HIM
Favorite Jooheon Hair: I mean, he invented having blond hair soooooo...
Look at this man, he's so gorgeous???? How???
I hope you have a great weekend!! 💗

Having just watched the Lord of the Rings films I thought I’d give a nice little list of some random things I enjoy and maybe a few that I don’t (This is not a book vs film analysis. This is just me being silly).
This one sparks joy
Sam and Frodo are shown stumbling home after having a good aul’ knees up at the local pub just before Gandalf arrives to tell Frodo that, in his house, there is an item that could very well bring about the end of the world as they know it. Oh and he needs to leave right now because the single most evil being in Middle Earth has Frodo’s name and address. Like, the two lads are drunk when this happens! Love it XD
Sean Astin’s all over the place accent
Hobbit dad Boromir <3<3<3
Gimli going on and on about Dwarvish hospitality, somehow completely missing the major ominous vibe that the entrance into Moria gives off. And the corpses. He got so excited that, for a minute, he lived in a world where he wasn’t surrounded by corpses
Sean Bean’s delivery of the “They have a cave troll” line is just perfection
Orlando Bloom’s faces in the background
Aragorn telling Sam to go find Athelas. Nothing to do with the scene itself. It just always makes me think of Donkey looking for the blue flower with red thorns XD
Aragorn is very much turned on by Arwen putting a sword to his throat
One of the Goblins (?) makes a great face when the first Uruk-Hai is born(??). He’s like what the fuck what the fuck
Saruman gives this newly born(??) Uruk his orders in the main room of his tower while said Uruk is still stark naked and absolutely filthy... It’s so odd I can’t help but love it. At least give him a second XD
I think it means we also get to see an Uruk bum?
Saruman has lovely nails. I need to know where he gets them done
The Uruk-Hai don’t wear pants/leggings. Sky’s out, thighs out, boys! (Don’t blame them. They each seem to have my entire body weight worth of muscle on each leg. I’d show ‘em off too)
The main Uruk has a high pony tail. Fashion icon.
Sam delivers a speech so touching that even Gollum looks like he’s about to start crying
We get a close up of that moth Gandalf speaks to. Just a few moments of nothing but one of these fuzzy little friends. Best scene
The rawest line ever spoken has to be when Sam is asked if he’s Frodo’s bodyguard and he responds with “His Gardener”.
The delivery of every one of Sam’s speeches
Just Sam in general T_T
The score! It’s just...perfect (however you feel about a live action Silm adaptation, surely you must agree that we do need a Silm score? I need a score for it!)
The fact that the ending is so perfectly bitter sweet that I my chest genuinely feels tight after having watched it T_T
This one does not spark joy
Why does nobody clean their nails???? Like, never mind Sauron, ye’re all going to die of preventable infectious diseases at this rate!!
The lack of Legolas going to fetch the sun :(
Actually, just the lack of book!Legolas’ nonsense in general
Liv Tyler whispers all her lines. She just...she whispers everything...and speaks so slowly... why???? please stop!
The giant, mud-covered amniotic sack thing that the Uruk-Hai are dug out of. What...what even is that?? I’m no expert, but I’m pretty certain that the orcs just fuck like the rest of us, no?
Denethor eating...I just did not need to see that. It was unnecessary.
#lotr films#sorcha watches lotr#i feel like there's a lot more to go on this list but i've forgotten them...

Good grief, we have lots in common! Well, I'm really glad I sent my silly survey now because I have some very exciting ideas percolating for you present. :)
Thanks for taking the time to answer all my whimsies!
MY FAVORITE SONG IS "MERCY"!!! You made my heart so happy reading that. Hyungwon's songwriting skills are unparalleled for me.
Night owls represent!!!
I had to google that book, and now I want to read it. It tells me much about you. My favorite novels are Handmaid's Tale and Alias Grace, both of which I read in my femlit class in college. My other favorites are Pride & Prejudice and the His Dark Materials books!
Winter is my favorite season, and I abhor summer. Like you, I love the cold. I'm happiest when it's snowing heaps and I know can play in it (I never grew up, to be clear lol).
My husband and I started watching the Willow series this weekend! He had never seen Willow, so we watched it, and he LOVED it. Like you, it was a staple of my childhood, along with Goonies and The Neverending Story. I love a good quest! And as I mentioned, HDM is one of my favorite books, and the series is so lajdfljasfldjaslfdjlaskdjf. FINALLY, someone did it justice! I CANNOT WAIT TO WATCH THE FINAL BOOK COME TO LIFE.
Aw, I didn't see Wheel of Time, but you're right, I didn't read good things about it either. :(
YOU LIVED IN ICELAND??? Pump the brakes! In 6th grade, that was the country I picked to do a travel report on, and I have been obsessed ever since though I've never been. It's both so alien and primordial and fantasical. What was that like that you can remember? Where else have you lived?
I am fascinated by big cities--their ebb and flow and all the possibilities available--but as an introvert, I feel like it would zap my energy every day. My city is a small-market, but I love it dearly. (I'm in the US, and I assume from your previous asks that you are, too?)
Since you didn't mind my barrage of questions, let me close this with a few more.
Fantasy, sci fi, comedy, or documentary:
Favorite character in the Willow movie:
Favorite character in HDM:
What kind of video games do you play?
What's your favorite story trope:
You're part of a quest. What role do you play? The leader, the comic relief, the planner, the silent but skilled expert, the troublemaker, or the one everyone thought was just a regular nobody but has a power that awakens unexpectedly to save the day?
Have fun! No rush! Get back when you can! :D I'll be waiting for my new friend.
xoxo mbb Secret Santa
omg no way, Alias Grace is one of my favorites!! I love Margaret Atwood, and if you like her you'll definitely like Sheri S. Tepper!
And holy shit Goonies 😭😭😭 That's my all time favorite movie ever! I watched that and Willow and Neverending Story and Last Unicorn over and over lol. And the animated Hobbit, which turned me into a massive LotR nerd and led to a debilitating D&D habit.
And yes, I'm in the US! My father was a pilot before he retired so we lived in some cool places. Iceland was great, I was pretty young so I don't remember a lot, but I do remember going on road trips and visiting lava fields. It was like being on a different planet. We also lived in Germany for a while, which was also wonderful and I also want to go back and visit lol.
Okay, questions now!
Fantasy, Sci Fi, Comedy, or Documentary: I like all of them but I'm most drawn to fantasy.
Favorite Character in Willow: This is like choosing one of my children!! I love the brownies so so much but also Sorcha oh my god. I adore her.
Favorite Character in HDM: Lee Scoresby, easy lol. I was born in Texas so I'm partial to Texan characters, especially noble pilot types.
Video Games: I like all kinds of games! I play cozy games like Stardew Valley and Animal Crossing, rpgs like Final Fantasy, Dragon Age, and Mass Effect, big dumb shooters like Gears of War, basically anything that has a good soundtrack and interesting gameplay mechanics.
Story Trope: Probably found family. Most of the games, books, and shows that I'm into involve it in one way or another. I also dig a good enemies to lovers lol
Role in a Quest: I would probably be the planner lol. I have that super power combo of ADHD and mild autism plus anxiety, so if the mission goes wrong, I guarantee I have already stressed out about it and come up with at least four contingency plans for that exact scenario 😂
I hope your week is going well so far, and I'm looking forward to your next ask! 💗
