“Steve! What the fuck?”

“Dusty!”

He stills at the sight of his mother, materialising from behind the island countertop with a fresh tray of Christmas cookies in hand. Yeah sure, they smell delicious but Dustin still manages to make the intended disapproving face at her chiding.

Honestly, the woman swears like a sailor. She’s only scolding him because they have company. That company being Steve, who is currently standing at the counter too, piping bag in one hand and a cookie in the other as he stares back at him like a guppy.

Dustin glares. If he was still going to hang around here so much, why didn’t he just move in with them and not the Munsons when his parents skipped town?

He purses his lips. Eddie.

This all has to have something to do with Eddie. Why else would Steve be standing in the kitchen, wearing a frilly apron and looking far too pleased with himself while he and Dustin’s mother bake what can only be described as an industrial amount of Christmas cookies?

He has that look too, all angelic and innocent and cozy like an absolute dingus. The same look Steve has had on his face ever since he and Eddie announced they were an item.

A sicky-sweet, ooey-gooey annoying item.

Dustin opens his mouth to say all of that but he catches Steve catches his eye and smirks at him. Shit.

He looks at the cookies, smelling a hint of cinnamon.

Steve quickly returns to his task: shakily piping icing onto the cookie in his hand just in the knick of time as Dustin’s mother turns around.

Goddamn it, their aprons match.

Dustin pinches his nose.

“Steve wanted to make some cookies for Eddie and Wayne,” his mother explains, arranging the newly baked tray on the counter in what appears to be her typical assembly line.

“Yeah…” Steve nods, channelling any shred of concentration he has into the wobbly icing he is applying to a tree-shaped cookie a mere inch from his face.

Dustin reaches for the platter plate filled with neatly decorated cookies but his mother waves his hand away.

“I don’t get any!” he asks, “They can’t all be for Eddie!”

“No,” his mother says and he smiles as she gestures to a Tupperware container already filled, “Those are for Wayne to take for his last shift at the Plant before Christmas break.”

“And mine are…”

“Oh, Dusty!” she grumbles, “I’ll make you some another time! I thought you’d be gone all afternoon.”

“I ran out of money.”

“Poured your pocket money into trying to beat the Star Wars Flyer high score again, didn’t you?” Steve mocks, snorting a laugh as he sets a cookie on the Christmas plate.

Steve’s icing efforts are so wobbly and uneven that they look as if he has left them out on his back decking on a hot summer afternoon.

“No,” Dustin lies, “I – ”

The sound of the door out to the backyard squeaks open and Eddie skips inside like he’s a perfectly-timed sidekick from a goddamn TV show.

Dustin glares again. Bingo!

“Ms H.,” Eddie says, giving a faint salute before producing a bag of something from behind his back.

“Thank you, thank you thank you!”

Dustin watches, mouth agape as his mother makes a beeline for Eddie, takes the bag of flour (as the label says) and kisses the idiot right on his cheek.

Eddie smiles, his deceptively cherubic dimples indenting his cheeks as he flutters his eyelashes like the world’s biggest kiss-ass.

He then rounds the counter and slips onto the kitchen stool, practically knocking Dustin off his axis as he goes.

“Dusty,” he quips, straight in his ear.

“Piss off!” Dustin curses, flinging his arm through the non-existent space between them to shrug him off.

“Dusty!”

Eddie raises a hand to his chest, clutching his proverbial pearls, “So rude of you to speak to a guest like that, Dustin. And in your mother’s home!”

Steve barks a laugh, squeezing his piping bag enough that a great blob of icing plops onto a bare cookie.

“Oh, no,” he mumbles, looking down at the spillage utterly shell-shocked.

Eddie plucks a cookie from the Christmas plate, and Dustin folds his arms with a huff as he watches him hold it up without any protests from his mother.

He holds the cookie up, examining it carefully.

“Did you make this all by yourself, Stevie?” Eddie feigns wondering aloud, using that tone he does with Steve that is all flirtatious.

“With Claudia’s help,” Steve replies, smiling all sickly sweet it makes Dustin want to barf.

Again – ooey-gooey and just so goddamn annoying.

Claudia elbows Steve in the side and chuckles, “I only provided the recipe, really.”

“You’re giving away family recipes now!” Dustin complains.

“I’d hardly call Gan-Gan’s recipes sacred,” his mother defends, making a face, “In fact, I’ve changed them so much over the years, they are more mine than hers, so I can give them to who I damn well please.”

Eddie leans forward, pointedly looking at Dustin and nods in condescending agreement, his scraggly hair flopping in his face

His mother doesn’t catch it – she never does – and simply turns back to the oven. Meanwhile, Steve reaches for another cookie and hands it across the counter.

Dustin perks up until he bypasses him and hands Eddie another treat.

“Here,” he says with a flick of the wrist, “Try this one.”

Eddie again scrutinizes the treat, pouting and all considerate with the typical level of dorky theatrics Steve seems to go ga-ga for.

In rolling his eyes, Dustin regrettably glances at Steve, who is biting his lip with anticipation.

Eddie takes a bite, humming loud and rather obscenely and yet, once again, Dustin witnesses no scandalised response from his mother.

“You like it?” Steve smiles.

“Takes as good as you, sugarplum,” Eddie hums, dropping – and spitting – crumbs everywhere.

“Guys!” Dustin begs, fearing his eyes are going to roll into the back of his skull and never return, “Stop it!”

“Dusty!” now his mother stands to attention, “You can stop being so rude!”

Eddie snickers and hops up from his seat to stand impossibly close to Steve at the counter. Steve hands him the piping bag, the pair grinning at each other as they set about decorating yet another tray of Christmas cookies.

Dustin stomps his foot and marches out of the kitchen, ignoring the chorus of giggles behind him.

hello! it’s okay, I hope everything’s been sorted or at least getting better 😣

kldlfksakl I rarely read manga/ webtoons so I don’t really have that issue BUT I feel you there: there’s a novel I really like that got adapted to a manga but I haven’t gotten around to reading it because I don’t… like… the art… 😢 I prefer the snk anime art style to the manga one too so I guess I’m fortunate there 😅

omg I’d really want to go back to school one day too… but I don’t really know what I want to learn like there are so many things!!! what field are you trying to get into now?

I studied something similar to international relations (but not 100% similar) and now I’m working… in the design industry 😂 not as a designer though, something like a project manager. it’s… not related at all to what I studied HAHAHA but I did do a bit of designing for fun back when I was in high school and uni for like extra-curricular stuff so I guess that’s the only link

guess what I binged all the hq episodes in 5 days HAHAHAHAHA and I’m like… hyperfixated now 😂 I’m sooo late to the fandom 😅😅 but omg the characters!!!!! I get what people say now when they say that hq has really good character development and I can’t figure out just one character I like the most because I like so many of them and their growth over the episodes 😂 I usually pick shows to watch by synopsis and genre and (ofc) seiyuu and back then I didn’t watch hq because I don’t usually go for coming of age / non-fantasy / school-related shows, and rn I’m just banging my head against a wall for not starting it earlier 😭

I LIKE A LOT OF VOICE ACTORS TOO HAHAHAHA AND YES I’ve watched anime solely for the voice actors before too *cough brocon cough touken ranbu* and yES miyano mamoru and nakamura yuuichi and suwabe!!!!! the first time I heard miyano was through vampire knight (lol) and when I watched subsequent shows with him in them I realised how much of a ham he can be lmaoo 😂 nakamura yuuichi and suwabe are really so distinct!!!! their casting in jjk was perfection tbh like nakamura as gojou and suwabe as sukuna?!?!?!?! toriumi kousuke as well!!!!!! besides these four I also really like onod, sakurai takahiro, tsudaken, and ishida akira (hiS RANGE when I learned that ishida akira would be voicing akaza in kny I was like YESSSS)

I usually prefer action, fantasy, sci-fi! might or might not be related to my need for escapism cough cough 😐 I do watch/ read a fair bit of bl but yes… agreed that sometimes the portrayals aren’t exactly accurate/ beneficial/ helpful😔

ohh you're a novel reader?? i have read only a few ones bc of mangas/manhwas that i've read and liked and wanted to read a deeper version of it, so i read the novels but i can't really concentrate anymore reading books rip (although i do reread pjo every year lmfao) but yes i understand!! it's ok to be shallow like this <3 i'll also not watch a kdrama of a webtoon i liked if i don't really like the actors lmfao it's entertainment, so we're allowed to be picky!!

i'm gonna try for visual arts!! i love art and i've always wanted to study/work with it, even though i have many problems with me doing art bc i don't think i'm good enough and etc, but i've been having a huge crisis this year and my therapist keeps kicking my ass every session, so i decided i'm too old (although i'm only 24 lol) to not try the things i want. i do have a technical degree in graphic design though and i'm studying ux design right now, but the quarantine also made me really miss actually going to school and seeing people lmfao the uni i'm trying for is a very good one (and free) but the exam is soooo hard and i haven't studied basic school things since i finished school 8 years ago lmfao like idk anything about biology and geography and history anymore lmfaooo i'm good with numbers but i suck at theory and it's too bad that history is what counts the most for my exam and i hate history ;;

oh a project manager!!! that's classy, how adult of you LMFAO do you like it?? i've thought about working as it before bc i really like... managing stuff lmfao i'm a control freak

have u ever watched karneval and/or servamp?? my mind is a wild place and there are some anime i think are very similar even if different genres. kuroshitsuji (shounen), karneval (josei), servamp (shoujo) and yuukoku no moriarty (shounen) have the same vibe to me for some reason lmfao then a little to the side and not as similar i put vanitas no carte and pandora hearts lol yes yes i get you!! i read so much romance because irl i hate anything romance related lmfao man there's this trend in bl that makes me so angry that it's a weak ass mc and all the love targets treat him like shit and they're all so obsessed and possessive and it's so toxic and unhealthy but this happens soooo much. there's this manhwa being published called finding camellia and it's a girl pretending to be a boy and the whole romance plot is EXACTLY like a bl. random guys liking her for absolutely no reason and acting like she's an object or a prize that they must win. i hate it lmfao i read so many things but i get stressed over 90% of them because i do read so much romance shit and most of them are such bad portrayals of what good relationships should look like :/// (on that note, i did read here u are and i loved it before the plot went somewhere else and i dropped it a few years ago lmfao also i swear yuyang is absolutely based on gusari's version of oikawa. gusari/kizu natsuki used to write so many doujinshis of haikyuu and her oikawa is really specific and yuyang REALLY reminds me of that oikawa lmfao) lol so i just googled it and nowadays more ppl think the same, but back in the day no one was talking about it!!! me and projecting oikawa into everyone else LMFAO

i really liked this one too bc it reminds me of old gfx we used to make back in 2012~2013. and these gifs took me soooo long to make but i think they looked really nice at the end!! i suffered making them and i actually wanted to make of all svt members but i couldn't do it lmfao

i read so many things at the same time that i couldn't tell you even if i wanted to lmfao but some i wait the most for a new chapter are bnha, kono oto tomare, bsd and beware of the villainess!! i'm only watching kny at the moment, but i did watch all of the way of the househusband recently! i love the manga soooo much but idk if i really liked the anime or not lmfao the animation was... interesting. it felt more like a drama cd with images then an anime but oh well
