part one! part two! part three!
Song: Emergency Contact by Pierce The Veil
Everything was fucked, you decided as you got ready for class.
A few days ago you told Soobin you would become one of his donors. You couldn’t even blame the alcohol, because even though the hangover you suffered the next morning assured you that you had been far gone, you would’ve said yes sober. There was something so incredibly alluring about Soobin that drew you in like no one ever had before. His normally deep, brown eyes were like a pit you could easily fall into if you stared into them for too long. But when you had seen them turn red during that fateful night a month ago, it was a whole new level of attraction. His small smile when he greeted you at home, and his wide smile when you made him laugh, were both enough to make your heart flutter. But more than anything, it was as if he had an aura of seduction around him that made him feel perfect for you in every way.
Your hairbrush got caught on a small knot and it made you wince. You knew it was dangerous to think that way. Perfect for you? Until recently the two of you could’ve been considered acquaintances at best. But with how quickly your relationship with him was changing it was hard to make your feelings seem casual.
Was it a crush, or merely lust?
When you grabbed your bag and pushed your bedroom door open you saw Soobin sitting in the living room. The memory of him lightly kissing your jaw filled your brain and you quickly looked away from him.
“Are you heading to class?”
You nodded. “We’re reviewing for the final today.”
There was a few moments of silence before he spoke. “Y/N.”
You pulled your gaze away from the floor to look at him. He looked oddly serious before he gave you a soft smile. One of those smiles that made you question everything about whether you could be normal around him.
“Are you free tonight?”
“Tonight?”
His voice was gentle like he was scared to alarm you. “It’s Tuesday.”
The implication of those two words washed over you quickly. It made a shiver run down your spine.
“Oh.”
More silence, then, “There’s no pressure Y/N. I can call someone else.”
The idea of someone else coming to do what you had been begging for made your insides feel like they were twisting. Why had you been nearly begging anyway? Where was your pride?
But pride be damned, you wanted it to be you.
“No, I’m free.” Feeling incredibly awkward about it, you added, “You can count on me.”
You groaned inwardly, annoyed with how stiff you sounded, but you had made him laugh his pretty laugh. So maybe it was a win.
“Okay. Have a good class.”
With that, he got up and left to his room, and you retreated to the front door to make your way to school.
-
Going to class might have been pointless. The entire time your nerves were buzzing at the thought of returning home. Your body couldn’t decide if you were excited or terrified, and your mind had no luck in deciphering it either. However pointless it seemed, you still stumbled through your routine of classes and studying with Yeonjun at the library.
You stood now in front of the door of your apartment. You couldn’t will your hand to put the key in the lock, because as much as you had been horrendously needy the last time you thought you might’ve been bitten by Soobin, there was still a sense of fear. Whether that was the innate fear of being prey to something beyond your imagination or fear of the more human aspect of changing your relationship with him once again, it didn’t matter. Fear still lived in your bones at the thought of what might happen.
“Y/N? Why are you standing out here?”
You moved out of Soobin’s way to allow him to unlock the door. There was your push, you think.
“Long day. I think I was mentally loading for a second.”
After following him inside, you made your way toward your room intending to mentally prepare, but he gently placed a hand on your arm to stop you. “Is everything okay?”
“Yeah.” You mentally cursed at yourself for the crack in your voice, then turned to face him. “Yeah. Finals are coming up, so it’s a little stressful right now.”
He furrowed his brow slightly. “Should we raincheck tonight then? So you can relax, or study?”
“No.” You spoke a little too quickly. “We can still… you know,” you trailed off.
Keeping your composure wasn’t normally this hard. It’s not like you were naive or easily embarrassed. Something about him brought out this uncool part of you that was starting to get on your nerves.
“Okay, as long as you're comfortable. That’s what’s important to me.”
He released your arm from his light grasp, and when he was pulling away you noticed the large gift bag in his other hand. Soobin’s gaze followed yours fixed on the bag, then he was suddenly holding it out to you.
“What is it?”
You looked back to his face. His expression was sincere. “One of the perks I told you about.”
After taking the bag, you half spoke and half whispered. “Thank you.”
He smirked. “You haven’t even opened it yet. What if you hate it?”
You pulled the small black tote out from the gift bag. It had a simple, plush pattern sewn on the outside and a golden emblem attached to the side that read ‘DIOR’.
“You got me a designer bag?”
He took the gift bag from you so you could properly hold the tote bag. He watched as you ran your hands over it in disbelief.
“You don’t like it?”
“It’s not that, it’s really nice.” Compared to the purse you normally carried that was beaten to hell and back, this was a massive upgrade. You inspected the Dior emblem, and it weighed heavily on you. “Is it really okay for me to have this?”
“It’s as thanks, of course it’s okay.” It seemed he read your mind when he spoke again, “Don’t worry about the price tag. I wanted you to have this.”
You tore your gaze away from the bag and smiled at him. “Thank you. I’ll cherish it.”
His smile mirrored yours, and you realized in that moment all the fear and awkwardness you felt before had melted away. Soobin was kind, and thoughtful. Was there any reason to be scared?
After putting your things away in your room, you returned to the living room and joined him in sitting on the couch.
“So what now? How does this work?”
“Be specific. How does what work?”
“You’re always in your room. What do you usually do with your donors? Other than doing that.”
He laughed quietly. “Doing that? Firstly, if we are going to enter this type of relationship you need to be comfortable talking about it, and comfortable with me.”
You straightened your back a little. “I’m comfortable with you.”
He leaned toward you slightly. “Really? You always seem on edge around me.”
You sighed. “The idea of you makes me nervous, but when I’m actually with you it feels natural. Maybe because we’ve already lived with each other for so long.”
Soobin leaned back into the couch. “I’m kind of used to people being nervous when they learn what I am. I don’t remember a lot of what it was like being human, but I can imagine the thought of something like me being kind of scary.”
Scared you offended him you quickly tried to correct him. “I don’t get nervous because I’m afraid of you.” His face revealed he wasn’t convinced, so you continued. “Maybe there’s a small part of me deep inside that is afraid because you’re a vampire, but Soobin, I know you wouldn’t hurt me.”
He simply stared at you for a few moments before sitting up. “How can you be so sure?”
You saw something in his eyes in that moment you hadn’t seen before. Soobin, who was usually confident and self-assured, seemed nervous. He looked as if he was worried to hear your answer. You had to make him feel assured once again.
“I’m supposed to believe that the guy who took care of me when I was drunk and wouldn’t take advantage of me would somehow hurt me? If you were as dangerous to me as you are implying, wouldn’t you have already done something already? In all the time we’ve lived together?”
He looked down at his hands in his lap and you saw a small grin twitch onto his face. “You’re right.” He looked at you and grabbed one of your hands with his. “Thank you for believing in me.”
You looked at where his hand held yours. He was always so gentle when he touched you, even the first time when he drank your blood. He had been so angry, so cold with his words, but his touch was always kind and inviting.
You joked, “You haven’t given me a reason not to, not yet.”
“I won’t.” You looked up at his face. His expression was determined, and his eyes sparkled like they always did in these moments with him. “I promise I won’t.”
The air between you had turned serious too quickly, and you weren’t ready for him to feed. Then there was the possibility of the evening already being over, so you deflected.
“You still haven’t told me what you and the donors do.”
His thumb rubbed small circles on your hand. “This, basically. We hang out, talk, and then I take some blood. It’s casual.”
You thought this might be an opportunity to learn about him. “Can I ask you some stuff then?”
“Fire away.”
“Do you need to breathe? If you’re, like, immortal anyway? How does that work?”
“We don’t need to breathe, but wouldn’t it be off-putting to humans around us if we didn’t?” You nodded, and he continued. “I’d say it’s partly an old habit from our human lives, and partly so we’re not found out.”
The information was processing in your mind. “So far you just seem like a human who drinks blood from others sometimes.”
“We need to feed, and not just sometimes or when we feel like it. We become weak without it.”
“So do all vampires have donors?”
His expression hardened slowly into something sad. “The vampires that are considered civilized. There are some who still take forcefully from victims without consent, but those types are dying out. Most of us realized there needs to be an understanding on both sides.”
You felt at that moment you had made a mistake, so you changed the subject. “What was your life like before you turned?”
He looked at you with such a tenderness it made your stomach do flips. “I had dreams.”
Your breath felt caught. “Dreams of what?”
“When I was very young I wanted to be a painter. I wanted to paint portraits for important people and live off my art.” He laughed, “I guess us creative types seem to gravitate towards each other.”
“What do you mean?”
“Well, you want to be a writer, don’t you?”
“I do, but I’m not done asking about you yet.”
He laughed even more. “I guess since we already established that I’m a Y/N expert, I’ll let you keep asking the questions.”
“You said you had dreams. What about now?”
He calmed down from his laughter but still smiled at you. “It’s hard to keep having dreams when you’ve been around for so long. You get numb to existing.”
“So what you’re saying is you need to find a new dream?”
He shook his head. “Didn’t you hear me? I’ve kind of given up on having dreams. I do what I want and I quit whenever it gets boring.”
Soobin’s hand still held yours, so you gave him a light squeeze. “What if I help you find one?”
He raised his eyebrows. “Why would you do that?”
You raised your eyebrows in return. “We’re friends now, aren’t we? Or something like that?”
He regained his composure. “I’d say we’re friends.”
“Then can I ask you something kind of serious?”
“Sure.”
You took a deep breath. It wasn’t like you wanted to bring up a painful memory, but curiosity was bugging you. “What happened when you turned? Why did it happen?”
He looked down at where your hands met. His smile didn’t falter, but you could tell from his voice there was a melancholic feel to it. “Just like with humans, there are vampires with evil natures. Not everyone can be good. Back in the early 1800s, there was a movement of random turning.” Sensing where this story was headed, your blood ran cold. “They felt they were superior, and rather than living in the shadows of humanity, they wanted forcefully turn as many humans as possible.”
You couldn’t hide the emotion in your voice. “Why?”
He looked into your eyes with an unreadable emotion. His hand that wasn’t holding yours reached out to softly rub your arm and shoulder.
“Revenge. Out of bitterness. To raise the vampire population. There were many reasons. I was in the wrong place at the wrong time.”
“What about your family?”
His hand stopped on your shoulder. His eyes seemed flooded with memories, and his head was preoccupied as he answered. Seeing him like this shook something inside you like you’d never felt before. It was as if his sadness washed over you in waves.
“I never saw them again after that night.”
You felt a tear run down your cheek before you could realize you were crying for him. His hand on your shoulder moved to wipe the few tears that had fallen.
“Soobin, I’m so sorry.”
“Why are you crying, Y/N? I’m okay now, aren’t I? I’ve been at peace with it for so long now.”
“But-”
He pulled you into a hug. Your mind went blank and all your emotions halted in place.
“No buts. I can look back at my time with my family fondly. And as much as they get on my nerves, I have my clan of vampires now to rely on.” He stroked your hair. “So really, I’m okay.”
You felt ridiculous for crying, but you couldn’t help it. When you pictured what might’ve happened to him that night, what was taken away from him for no reason, it hurt you deeply. You hurt for him.
After he had held you for a minute, you pulled back. Your tears had stopped and light embarrassment at the situation set in.
“I’m sorry for asking and then acting like this.”
“It’s okay, don’t apologize.” He rested one hand on your cheek. “Why should you be sorry for feeling for me? I’m thankful for it.”
Before you could stop yourself, you leaned into his icy touch. In the back of your mind, you wondered if friends were supposed to be this intimate with each other. “Why are you comforting me? It’s your pain.”
“Maybe it is.” His face was so close to yours that it made his cold breath tickle your nose. “But you’re sharing it with me. And that makes me happy beyond words.”
Before you could think or say anything else, he used his other hand to slowly push you down onto the couch. The action flipped a switch inside you. Your tears were still drying, but your stomach began doing flips for a different reason. You were anticipating the feel of his fangs.
“I don’t know if it's the way you seem to care for me, or the way you react to my touch, or maybe it’s being next to you for this long the smell is starting to drive me crazy, but I don't want to wait anymore.” If your attention wasn’t so intensely focused on his face you would’ve missed his eyes slowly turning a deep shade of red. But you didn’t.
“I can’t wait anymore.”
He supported himself with one hand placed by your head and used his other to lightly hold your jaw. His eyes were mesmerizing. You watched intently how his eyelashes fluttered when we slowly blinked.
He lowered himself to bring his face close to yours once again. “Y/N.”
You could hear in your voice how breathless you were. “Yes?”
“Last time I did this, I didn’t do it right.”
His nose traced a line across the side of your jaw and down your neck, and when he hit your shoulder he inhaled deeply. Your nerve endings were on fire, and every atom of your skin touched by his melded together and vibrated.
“I need you to tell me it’s okay for me to do this.”
Finally, fangs met your neck and grazed you deliciously. You wanted to savor the feeling, but it was torture. On the precipice of pleasure, you called to him. “Soobin, please.”
The fangs were gone instantly. Instead, his lips pressing onto you. Kissing, then his tongue. Licking. Your legs trembled, and you were sure if you had been standing you would have fallen. But you were laying beneath him and completely at his will.
“Say yes.” His hand that was on your jaw had moved to hold the back of your head. He leaned back slightly to look into your eyes. “Tell me you want me to feed from you.”
Your mind was a whirling mess. Pride was abandoned long ago, and if he wanted you to ask even if it was a given, you’d do it. You’d do it over and over.
“Yes.” You reached up and put both your hands behind his neck. Pulling him closer, you answered him. “Please, have my blood. I’m yours.”
Soobin lowered his head once more. “You’re mine?” His breathy laugh reverberated in your head. Finally, you felt his fangs again. They faintly scratched a path slowly from your shoulder to the middle of your neck. “I like the sound of that.”
Without hesitating now, he sunk his teeth fully into you. The feeling of his cold teeth in contrast to the warm blood beginning to pool and spill at the wound was heavenly. Your mouth betrayed you, and you moaned. Not that you could make yourself be embarrassed in the moment, it’d be impossible. The pleasure building and building at the feel of this bite was overwhelming. It was like you could only focus on the feeling, but you weren't focusing on anything at all.
It was over earlier than you had expected. He had retracted his fangs from you, and before you could comprehend the loss, his lips met your skin again. The pressure that had built was threatening to explode in a flash of passionate sucking and touching. He moved his hand that had been supporting himself and his body weight crushed you. He used it now to grab at your waist.
The combination of his weight on you and his lips at your neck was becoming all too much. His hand moved up and down your side effectively feeling you up. His other hand gripped harder in your hair as his sucking became more eager. You felt him quietly moan onto your skin, and you couldn’t hold back any longer. Your hands raked down his back viciously as you let go. The pressure snapped, and pleasure flooded all your senses at once. Every sense was flooded by only him.
When he slowly pulled away from your neck, it finally hit you how lightheaded you were. However, you couldn’t be sure if it was from the loss of blood or from what was probably in the top ten orgasms you’d ever had in your life. Then it dawned on you.
An orgasm.
There was no way he hadn’t noticed, but his face didn’t give anything way. He only stared intently at you, eyes dark and intent, and your blood smeared around his lips. The sound of your own heavy breathing as you came down only made you feel more horrified at the situation.
He sensed your discomfort. “Are you feeling okay?”
Better than okay, yet mortified all the same. “I’m a little woozy.”
“Let me heal the wound, and then I’ll get you something to help.”
“Heal the wound?”
He didn’t say anything, but quickly dipped his head back down and licked the bite. Your first instinct was to protest his touch, as you were incredibly embarrassed by what had happened already, but just as fast as he had done it he was already climbing off of you.
You didn’t watch but heard his footsteps headed toward his room. Reaching up to feel your neck confirmed there was no swelling or agitation from the bite. The lack of a mark from him made you feel slightly disappointed.
When he returned he had a small bottle of apple juice and a pack of peanut butter crackers in his hands. He placed them on the table in front of the couch and then helped you sit up.
As he was moving to sit next to you, his phone on the table began to buzz. You looked instinctively at the sound.
Caroline.
Quickly looking away from the phone and at his face, you could see how annoyed he looked. It buzzed for a few more moments before he picked it up. “I’m sorry, I have to take this.”
At your nod, he went to his room to take the call. Minutes passed, and as you ate your snack you wondered if you were supposed to be waiting for him. Was it customary for there to be any more conversation with a donor after the deed was done? Or was this your sign to leave to your room?
It was your phone this time with a single buzz on the table that broke your thoughts. An Instagram notification. You didn’t recognize the username.
You don’t know what you’ve gotten yourself into. We should meet up. I can help you.

Song: Walk This World With Me by The Home Team
You don’t know what you’ve gotten yourself into. We should meet up. I can help you.
After opening the DM, you clicked the account of the person who sent it. The face staring back at you confirmed what you had feared. Her name was Ava. She was one of Soobin’s donors, but one you hadn’t seen come to the apartment in a while. Then again, you rarely saw them come and go, but there was a bad feeling in your gut about this one. You suspected she didn’t want to throw you a welcome party.
However, it wouldn’t hurt to meet up with her anyway. You didn’t need any help, but it could be beneficial to at least know one of the other donors. The tone of her message made it clear that you weren’t welcome into the clique. Perhaps against your better judgment, you started typing back to her.
I don’t know how you know about me, but I’ll meet with you.
She was typing back almost immediately. Your uneasy feeling now was stealing away your pleasure of moments before. What was with this timing?
Her message was direct. This Thursday?
At that moment Soobin entered the living room, so you locked your screen and decided to answer it later. His face still held the agitation it did when he took the call. “Is everything alright?”
He sat back down next to you as he answered. “Yeah. Family stuff.” He sounded tired, but he still gave you a small smile. He always managed to smile for your sake it seemed. “Are you feeling better now?”
“I feel fine.” You weren’t sure if he was done opening up for the night, or if this were a topic he would want to talk about, but you wanted to be there for him. “What’s going on with your family?”
His smile fell and he hesitated for a moment, but he did answer. “They want me to go back to the main house for winter break. To be honest, they want me to drop out of school and go back indefinitely.”
“Why would they want that?”
He was silent for another moment before turning his body to face you. “Why do you want to know?”
His voice was a little harsh. It was the most pointed he’d ever been with you, but you persisted. “I’m sorry if I seem nosy. I just want to be someone you can rely on.”
His face didn’t show any clear emotion as he processed what you said. He leaned into the back of the couch, then finally spoke. “The vampire I see as my father is the leader of our clan. He is in charge of mentoring and looking after those of us who are newer to this lifestyle.” He ran a hand through his hair and stared downward at nothing in particular. “He wants me to take his place as head of the family.”
You didn’t know how many vampires were in his clan, but you were sure you’d never been given such a big responsibility. “And I’m guessing you don’t want to?”
“I’m only two hundred and fifteen years old.” When he saw your confused expression at his words he continued. “You might not understand, but that’s young for us. There’s still way more I want to do before I settle down like that.”
You joined him in leaning back on the couch and stared at the ceiling. “I might not understand being immortal, but I do understand that.”
You sensed him turning his head to fully look at you, but you stayed unmoving. “You’re still very young, Y/N. Who’s pressuring you to settle down?”
“Not to settle down, but the pressure to figure everything out is still there. I know it’s because they care, but my parents are breathing down my neck about how I won’t get paid well as a writer, and how I need to figure out something more stable.”
“I know this might be easy for me to say, but…” He trailed off, causing you to turn your head and look at him.
It had been a critical mistake. Soobin’s eyes were clear and held so much empathy and understanding it made your chest feel slightly constricted.
He spoke quietly. “Time passes too quickly. You shouldn’t waste any of that precious time trying to appease them.” The corners of his mouth slowly lifted. “You should do what you want to do.”
You faced the ceiling again and tried to lighten the mood with a joke. “You’re right. That is easy for you to say, centuries-old rich vampire.”
His voice was still calm and low. “Y/N.”
You hesitated before turning to face him one more time. You hadn’t processed him moving closer to you, but his face was near yours this time. He was no longer smiling. Your voice came out as a whisper, “Yes?”
“You see me as a friend, right? You care about me?” You weren’t sure if it was rhetorical, but you slowly nodded anyway. He continued, “Then let me care about you. I will always support you, so,” he grabbed one of your hands. You hoped desperately he couldn’t feel your rapid pulse through the touch. “Do what you want to do. I’ll always be here.”
The words ‘do what you want to do’ bounced around your head and echoed. Was this an encouragement to follow your dreams or more? You looked down at his cute, plump lips. He was so close, and instinct was calling you forward. Had his words been an invitation?
You could only pray you were reading the mood right. When your eyes flicked back up to his your heart nearly stopped. He looked so enamored, and if you hadn’t been so blinded by the want for physical touch you would’ve been bewildered. Sure you had been developing feelings for him, but how could he look at you like that? He normally looked like he wanted to eat you whole in moments like this, but this time it was so much softer. No one had ever looked at you like this. Like they cared so deeply for you it made their eyes shine.
You wanted to kiss him. You needed to kiss him. So, you closed your eyes, steadied your heart, and moved closer. Your warm breath collided with his cold, and you could almost feel his lips against your own.
But he pulled away.
Your eyelids felt heavy as you opened them, and you watched as he opened his. He didn’t look at you, and you weren’t sure if you were upset at the fact or grateful. You could feel the flames of embarrassment heat your cheeks.
Your voice sounded strange in your ears. “I’m sorry.”
As you backed away from the intimate space between your faces the realization of what you did crashed down. Whatever weird, sexual vibe the two of you had when he was taking your blood could not exist outside of those times. That was painfully apparent now. He had trusted you to be a donor and friend, and you had misread the situation and made a move on him.
You were the worst.
You quickly stood up. “I’m sorry.”
As you were turning to getaway to your room he grabbed your wrist. “Wait, Y/N.”
After grumbling another ‘sorry’ you shook him off and escaped.
Mortifying didn’t even come close to how you felt. Embarrassed, sad, confused, and so many other emotions swirled around your mind as you lay in bed.
You’d be lucky to get any sleep.
-
It was Thursday, and you were at the agreed-upon meeting spot with one of Soobin’s other donors. Being a bit early was normal for you, so you weren’t surprised when she wasn’t there yet. You had a book you were reading for class spread on the café table in front of you, but the words blurred together as you thought about the last two days.
Soobin had been avoiding you, or at least, that’s what it felt like. You hadn’t seen a trace of him since Tuesday night when you had tried to kiss him. Part of you hoped he was giving you space to recover from your embarrassment, but another part believed he was feeling awkward and upset with you. The idea of Soobin cutting you off from friendship and your donor relationship broke your heart, after all, he had opened up so much to you. He had been vulnerable. He had trusted you, and you didn’t want to lose that. You didn’t want to lose everything.
The other donor, Eva, pulled out the chair in front of you effectively getting your attention. She was beyond beautiful, with her long, dark curly hair framing her face and a mole on her cheekbone.
You smiled awkwardly. “Hello.”
She sat. “It’s Y/N, right?”
“Yeah.”
You anticipated a silence to settle with the weird atmosphere, but she cut to the chase. “I’m going to be very direct. I know what kind of relationship you’ve entered with Soobin. We used to be like that too.”
Your eyebrows shot up at her unexpected confession. “Used to?”
Her voice was lower this time as if she was overly aware the two of you were in a very public place. “I used to be a donor to him. But things got complicated,”
You closed your book and placed your arms on it leaning forward. “Complicated how? And how do you know about me?”
She sighed lightly. “Soobin told me about you. I never saw you there, but you’re his roommate?” You nodded, but your head was floating somewhere higher. Soobin had mentioned you. You couldn’t ponder the implication of that before she continued. “I shouldn’t tell you what he said about you, but you should know, that things like romance and relationships don’t work with him.”
Two conflicting ideas were at war within your head. Soobin had mentioned you to Eva, and the conversation had been about relationships. Had he said he considered you a romantic interest? Did he say he thought you were interested in him but he didn’t feel the same? You were temporarily paralyzed by the ‘what ifs’ occupying your brain.
Sensing your racing thoughts, Eva decided to keep talking. “I tried it, you know.”
The thoughts all stopped. “You dated Soobin?”
She laughed bitterly. “Something like that. The closest thing he can get to dating.”
Something dull stirred inside you. She was his ex. “What do you mean?”
“I mean that he’s not like us.” She paused. “People like you and me have the luxury of dating and falling in love. But something like him, something inhuman, is jaded. They can’t feel the way we do. He doesn’t have that privilege.”
“How can you be so sure?”
You could hear the pity oozing from her voice. “You like him, don’t you?”
Knowing you would sound pathetic, you answered her anyway, “Why should I tell you that?”
“Look, I’m telling it to you like it is. Think about this in the long run. You enter a relationship with him, yay, whatever.” She was the one you sounded jaded, you thought. “Say it all works out. What do you do every ten or so years when you have to move because people notice he doesn’t age? What do you tell your family and those around you? What do you do when you become old and he doesn’t?”
The fact you hadn’t thought about him long-term hit you like a brick. She had a point. Several points, in fact.
But that didn’t do anything to lessen your affection toward him, scarily enough. “So what do I do?”
“The same as me.”
She looked sad, and you couldn’t help but wonder if he had been vulnerable with her. If she had done the things with him you had done. If she had kissed him.
Her voice held the determination your heart lacked. “You move on.”
-
As much as you wanted time to process your conversation with Eva and your last encounter with Soobin, final exams were next week. Yeonjun had insisted on coming over that Saturday to study together. So instead of wallowing alone, you sat in the living room with him and went over a review guide for your grammar class.
Yeonjun could tell from looking at you that you weren’t processing any information. “Y/N.” When you didn’t respond he called out to you again.
You looked at him and apologized. “Sorry, I’m focused.”
He laughed at you. “You’re anything but focused.”
You put the review down on the table in front of the couch. “It’s obvious?”
Yeonjun put his textbook down as well and turned his body to face you. “What’s wrong? Maybe we can talk it out so you can focus better after?”
Where did you even start? Your vampire situationship was ignoring you and you weren’t even sure if you should be in a situationship with him to begin with.
You were silent too long, it seemed, as Yeonjun spoke again. “You can talk to me, you know.”
“I know.” You could edit some parts and still make sense, you hoped. “There’s this guy-”
“Y/N has a crush!” Excitement lit up his features and his voice was a purr. “You sneaky little thing, since when?”
Your hands fidgeted in your lap. Since when? “Not too long. This is new.”
“It better be. I’d be hurt if you waited a long time to tell me.”
You swatted his arm playfully. “Let me explain, silly.” He gave you his full attention and nodded for you to continue. “He’s very kind, and we’ve gotten close very quickly. But…”
“But what?”
You took a shaky breath before continuing. “But when I tried to make a move, he rejected me.”
“Wait.” He ran a hand through his hair as if he was confused about why someone would reject you. It made your heart feel fuzzy to have such a good friend. “Rejected you how?”
The embarrassment at your actions flooded your senses again and your voice got softer. “I tried to kiss him, and he pulled away.”
Yeonjun was quiet for a moment before he huffed out a laugh. “Y/N.”
His laugh made you feel further embarrassment. “What?”
“That doesn’t mean he rejected you.”
“What else could it mean?”
He sighed. “Listen to my perspective, okay? There are so many possible reasons why he didn’t kiss you, and while rejection is one of them, you need to open your eyes to the other possibilities.”
You leaned back. “Like what?”
“If it’s somewhat new and you haven’t been talking long, maybe he thought you were moving too fast.”
The memory of Soobin’s face inches from yours with your blood smeared around his lips flashed in your mind. When the two of you had been intimate in that way it couldn’t be possible that you were moving too fast.
But there was no way you could tell Yeonjun about that.
“Maybe.” You paused, “But what else?”
He laughed again. “I don’t know, I wasn’t there. Think about it. Was there anything off about the vibe? What were you talking about before?”
You weeded through the awkward memory to remember. “His family.”
“Of course he wasn’t in the mood, goofy.”
“Hey!” You got defensive. “You weren’t there. The mood felt right!”
“Relax, Y/N.” After he calmed his laughter, he smiled at you. “If you are so worried about it, why don’t you talk to him about it?”
You sat up straight. “He’s been avoiding me.” You took a shaky breath. “I think I fucked up bad.”
Yeonjun pulled you into a hug. His soft hoodie made his arms feel like a refuge. “Hey, it’s okay.” He rubbed your back slowly and you could feel your worries easing up. “All you can do is try to talk to him, and if it’s meant to be it’ll work out.”
Before you could say your thanks you heard the sound of the front door opening, and you turned in Yeonjun’s arms to see Soobin walking in. He stared at you blankly while closing the entrance.
When neither of you said anything to each other, Yeonjun slowly released you from his arms. Soobin stared at you a moment longer before walking toward his room. The silence was loud.
Yeonjun quickly began to gather his things. “Let's pick up where we were tomorrow if you’re not busy. You weren’t getting much studying done anyway.”
He turned toward Soobin to nod in acknowledgment of his presence, but Soobin was already closing his bedroom door. He whispered to you, “Did you guys fight?”
“Something like that.”
You walked Yeonjun to the door, and he gave you another hug before he left. You only made it halfway to your bedroom when Soobin emerged from his own. He intercepted you before you could get to your door.
His voice was flat. “Did we fight?”
You should’ve guessed being a vampire would come with perks like enhanced hearing. “You’ve been avoiding me, so it feels like we fought.”
He crossed his arms over his chest and leaned back on your door. He was far too tall, and you found it annoying and unfair how good he looked right now peering down at you. “I wanted to give you space. You didn’t let me explain last time, but I guess it doesn’t matter now.”
His sharp tone was starting to agitate you. “And why not?”
“What do you mean ‘why not?’ Did I not come home just now to you all over someone else?”
You mimicked his stance by crossing your arms. “All over him? He’s my friend and he was comforting me. Even if it was something else, why do you care?”
You saw a hint of worry flash in his dark eyes before he quickly concealed it. His resolve was weakening. In this moment when he was angry with you for whatever reason, he still cared for you.
You continued. “I’ve been friends with him much longer than I’ve known you, and yet I’ve never questioned why you get so close to me.”
He scoffed. His attitude was returning. “It’s not like it bothered you.”
You hated that he had a point. The agitation was growing much stronger. “Can you tell me what your problem is, Soobin?” You repositioned yourself on your feet and uncrossed your arms. Bringing it up might make things awkward, but you needed to make your perspective known. “You rejected me. I’m trying to get over it, but here you are acting like a dick over a fucking hug.”
He stood straight off your door and took a step toward you as he repeated himself. “You didn’t let me explain.”
You accepted his challenge and took a step closer to him. “Who wants to hear an explanation in a situation like that?” Your voice was involuntarily rising. “Why would I want to hear you say it?”
He took another step, and suddenly the two of you were closer than you anticipated. His chest was in your face, but you looked up at him and hoped you looked somewhat intimidating.
His voice was gruff. “What was I going to say, Y/N?”
You blinked at him. You didn’t want to hear him say it then, and you didn’t want to say it yourself now.
The small hope that you were wrong persuaded you to say it anyway.
“That you don’t feel the same way for me that I feel for you.”
His expression softened from anger to something you couldn’t read. His voice was quiet. “Do you actually believe that?”
Your voice mirrored his delicate volume. “What am I supposed to think?” You looked down at his chest. It wasn’t moving, and the reality of what he was washed over you once again. Eva’s words about him resurfaced in your thoughts.
But something like him, something inhuman, is jaded. They can’t feel the way we do.
His fingertips met your chin, and he tilted your face up at him. He had started to look like the Soobin you knew again. His bangs fell in his face, partially obstructing his eyes. You could still see them glimmer with fondness.
His hand moved to cup your jaw as he leaned down slightly, and he stopped when his face was unbearably close to yours. His other hand held your lower back to gently pull you closer.
His lips ghosted over yours. You could faintly feel the deep rumbling of his low voice in your chest.
“No human mind could ever comprehend the depth of feelings I have for you.”
You had daydreamed many times about what it would feel like to have his cold lips on yours, but the electricity of it all far surpassed your imagination. The sensation of his kiss and his hands caressing you completely overwhelmed your senses. He deepened the kiss and you could feel the scraping of fangs on your lips.
It was maddening.
You raised your hands to grip both his shoulders. After steadying yourself, you kissed him back with every ounce of emotion you’d felt ever since the first time he bit you. All of the longing and yearning, and all of the confusion and passion, poured out and overflowed from your heart and soul.
It was you who had a depth of affection that was incomprehensible.

Song: Angel Eyes by New Years Day
You knew something was off about your roommate ever since the beginning of your living arrangement.
Soobin Choi was an odd guy. You hardly ever saw his groceries in the kitchen move. When you had joked about it with him one time he answered he ate out a lot, and yet you never saw fast food wrappers in the trash. But you let it go, his eating habits weren’t any of your business.
There were some odd things about him you just couldn’t help but wonder about. He was rich, you knew that for sure, but he never spoke about his family. There was no way he was rich on his own. He was a college student just like you. Where was the money coming from? Again, it wasn’t your business, but you wanted to know so desperately how he had so much cash to blow on expensive clothes and gifts for his legion of female visitors.
Oh yeah, there was that one detail worth mentioning here. Soobin Choi had a group of five girls he brought over in rotation. You couldn’t complain too much. You never heard them engaging in adult activities. But then again, that confused you even more. What was he doing with these girls that spent the night? You watched as he showered them with gifts like jewelry and flowers. You wondered if the girls knew about each other, or if he was fooling them all. Was there anything romantic going on, or was it a weird, rich person's way of maintaining friendships?
Soobin Choi was an odd guy for sure, and although you let most things slide, there was one thing about him that bothered you so much you couldn’t help but wonder about it. The blood.
About two months into living together you came home to something you knew you shouldn’t have seen. His door, which seemed permanently shut, was wide open. You remember every detail of that night so vividly, and you don’t think you could ever forget the look on his face when he noticed you. His usually pretty face contorted with so much pain, and then suddenly twisted with anger before he slammed the door.
But you had seen it already.
Blood splattered up the wall, so much of it that it made you nauseous. The smell wafted through the cold air of the apartment. It flooded your senses and burned itself into your memory. You spent the whole night awake wondering if you should do something. Did he do something? Should you call the police? Did he hurt himself? Was he okay? You wanted to ask but fear kept you trapped under the covers of your bed.
But the next morning, sure enough, you heard him talking with one of his female guests like normal. Like nothing scary had happened at all. So whether it was wise or not, you let it go.
But that didn’t mean you didn’t wonder about it.
You stopped questioning how he never ate and you quit questioning the money. You tried your best to push the memory of that night into the untouched parts of your mind. You have been living with Soobin for seven months now, and today Soobin asked for his first favor.
Don’t come home before 7 please. My parents are here.
You looked at your phone screen: 8:37. Surely his parents were gone by now, right? You had even waited an extra hour and a half to give him some time. You were curious, you had to admit. He had never mentioned family before, and now they were here. You regretted listening and wished you had come home earlier.
Or at least, that’s what you thought before reaching your door. You heard muffled yelling, and you wondered if you should wait longer before going in. Against your better judgment, you put an ear to the front door and tried to listen.
“I refuse.”
A female voice answered. “I’m not asking, Soobin! I’m telling you it’s time to come home.”
A male voice spoke up drenched in anger. “You’ve had your fun fucking around. I won’t allow it anymore.”
“I don’t need your permission, Father.”
You wanted to save him from the situation, so you unlocked the door and entered. Three pairs of eyes seemed to pierce through you as you awkwardly spoke. “I’m sorry, I didn’t realize your parents would still be here.”
His father was strikingly handsome. Though, he didn’t look much like Soobin at all. His hair was blonde, his eyes were green, and he was shorter than his son. He turned to face Soobin and spoke in a softer voice, but you could still hear. “Is she the reason, son?”
“No, and I think it’s time you both leave.”
His mother cleared her throat and you fully focused your attention on her. She was beyond beautiful, and yet, didn’t look like Soobin either. She had dark hair and eyes like he did, but her facial structure was completely different. She replied, “This is not over.”
You finally stepped out of the doorway to allow his parents to leave. The sound of the front door closing allowed you to release a breath you didn’t realize you were holding. You waited a moment to let the tension in the air dissipate before asking, “Are you okay?”
He faced away from you, but you watched as his shoulders tensed. “How much did you hear?”
“Nothing really. I just heard yelling out in the hall.”
He plopped down on the couch, and you joined him. “Sorry about that. I was hoping they’d be gone before you returned home.”
“It’s okay.” The silence that followed was incredibly awkward, so you attempted to change the subject. “It’s Tuesday. Is anyone coming over tonight?”
“Shit, it’s Tuesday.” He groaned, before asking, “Does it bother you?”
“Does what bother me, Soobin? You having girls over all the time or the fact that they definitely don’t know about each other?”
He laughed, and you were happy to hear it. At least you could cheer him up a little bit. “They all know. I’m not exclusive with anybody. Do you think of me as that type of guy, Y/N?”
His smile made your insides feel like jelly. Your roommate so obviously knew how attractive he was. It showed in his confident demeanor, and yet, this didn’t turn you off like it sometimes would. His confidence was justified in your eyes. “I don’t know. I don’t know much about you.”
His smile fell slightly at that. “Really? I feel like I know a lot about you.”
You scoffed playfully. “Like what?”
“Well, I know Cheerios are your favorite cereal, and I know you have math tutoring on Thursdays.”
It was your turn to laugh. “Wow.” Your voice dripped with sarcasm, “You’re quite a Y/N expert.”
“At least I know some stuff about you. I bet you don’t even know my major.”
“Easy. Art History.”
Determination overtook his eyes as he leaned towards you. “How old am I?”
You leaned towards him engrossed in the competitive air. “Twenty-one. I saw your birthday on the lease agreement.”
“Is that cheating?” Before you could answer he shook his head to himself. “It doesn’t matter.” He smiled at you again, but this time with so much sincerity you weren’t sure how anyone who saw this face didn’t fall in love with him on the spot. “It seems you know more about me than you think.”
You simply stared at him. You weren’t sure what to say to that, and how close the two of you were suddenly seemed to weigh on your mind. Soobin refused to break eye contact with you, and you weren’t going to chicken out and look away first. His brown eyes seemed to sparkle in the dim lighting of the living room, and maybe you were hallucinating from the lack of air as your body refused to inhale, but it seemed like he was ever-so-slowly leaning closer toward you.
He opened his mouth to speak but there was a knock at the door. You took the opportunity to quickly break whatever bubble the two of you had been enclosed in. You stood up and offered him a small smile before retreating to your room. He didn’t say anything to stop you. Not that you thought he would, anyway.
When the door to your bedroom had closed you finally let your carefully constructed expression fall. What was that? Soobin and you were always friendly, sure, but that was… flirtatious to say the least. However, you were not interested in joining his rotation of girls at all. A rush of conflicted feelings swelled in your chest as you started getting ready for bed.
Soobin was, in every sense of the word, your type. He was taller than average, he had hair as dark as a starless night sky, and you guessed that was because all the stars were stored in his eyes. Every time he looked at you it made you feel exposed. The intensity of his stare, even when in passing, seemed to eat through your composed act entirely. Not to mention, his deep dimples when he smiled were an added layer of handsome.
His personality, though, is what made your heart weak against him. He was a nerd, said affectionately. You had come home a few times to anime watch parties and game nights with his friends in the living room. You had even watched a few shows with him casually and listened as he excitedly explained the lore.
Maybe you really did know more about him than you thought.
You hoped that his guest would do the rest of the job of cheering him up. A few hours later, however, you woke up to the sound of yelling. It was annoying, but you couldn’t stop the worry welling up inside you. Soobin and his guests hardly ever made noise. The thundering of stomping whooshed through the living area until you heard the front door slam.
Your brain fought itself because as much as you believed you should leave him alone, you knew he’d had a rough day already. Slowly, you made your way to your door before peeking out. Soobin stood in the living room with his back to you. The door creaked open, and you called out, “Soobin?”
There was a few beats of silence before he spoke. “Close the door, and don’t come out.”
You pushed the door fully open. “Is everything alright?”
“Close the fucking door, and don’t come out.”
His voice sounded strangely calm, and a bit of anger swelled up in you. You were trying to help him. He fought with his parents, and now with a potential romantic interest. Surely he could use someone to talk to.
You closed the door behind you and gathered your courage the best you could before taking a few steps toward him. “I know today was rough, so if you need me I’m here. You’ve always been kind to me. Let me help you.”
He turned to face you. Your blood ran cold. His normally brown eyes were a deep red, and his face held an intensity you had only seen once. The night with all the blood.
The night you had tried to let go.
“Soobin?”
“You want to help me?” He laughed cruelly and began to walk towards you.
You took a step back. “Yes,” you said, but you sounded weak in your resolve. “I want to help you.”
“Then let me do it. Just once.” He crept towards you, and you kept walking backward until your back hit your door. He stopped when his face was so close you could feel his cold breath. It was hard to breathe and your chest felt so tight it might explode. “Y/N.”
This close you could see his fangs. Fangs? This couldn’t be real. “Let you do what?”
He used one hand to hold your head while his face nuzzled your neck. He barely spoke above a whisper. “You’re smart, Y/N. I think you know what.” You felt the fangs you’d seen graze your neck as he spoke. “Your blood, let me have it. Just once.”
A million questions bounced erratically around your head. Was this a sick joke? Was he messing with you?
Would he do that?
At that question, all others fell silent. You may not know him that well, but then again, you might. He wouldn’t lie.
Right?
“Okay.”
He hummed against your skin.
A kiss, and then a bite.

part one! part two!
Song: Show Me the Real You by Moodring
“What?”
He pulled his face away slightly to your dismay. “I have a group of donors that offer their blood to me. There are benefits, you know.”
Dread filled you. Conflicting feelings swirled in your stomach. You wanted to keep experiencing that rush he gave you. It was as if you had gotten that ‘taste’, and now you wanted nothing more than to selfishly chase it. But joining his circle of donors was not in your best interest, you thought. You had no ill thoughts about those girls, but a small part of you wanted to mean a little more to him. This was a normal roommate feeling, right?
“Are you interested?”
Honesty poured out. “I don’t know if I can do that.”
“Let me explain more first, okay?” At your small nod, he continued. “Right now, I have four people who let me feed in rotation. That way none of them get too weak from giving all the time. In return, I try my best to take care of them.”
“What do you mean by take care?”
He straightened up entirely and effectively left your bubble. “I can’t just take and not give. It’s whatever they want: jewelry, clothes, money, anything.”
The words left your mouth before you could filter them. “So you’re like a sugar daddy?”
He laughed, and the pretty sound made you self-conscious. “I wouldn’t put it that way, but I mean I guess?”
“I’m not sure I can commit to something like that.”
Once again, his sincere smile pierced your resolve. “I’ll give you time to think about it. How does that sound?”
You smiled back weakly. “I’ll think about it.”
He nodded, then leaned in one more time to whisper near your temple. “Take all the time you need. It pleases me more than I can say to know you’ll be thinking about me.”
He left after that, and you were left stunned among the books.
Exactly as Soobin had said, your brain was completely consumed by thoughts of only him.
It didn’t help that you lived with the guy. In fact, it seemed you were seeing more of him these days. The man that once opted for holing up in his room to study, presumably, was spending his days lately studying at the dining area table. Every time you came home to find him there, he would simply smile at you then resume working. You couldn’t help but feel disappointed. In the back of your mind, you knew he was probably giving you space to make a clear decision about what you wanted, but you missed the small talk and casual mood of the apartment. Since that day at the library, the air always felt so charged.
It had been a little over two weeks since his proposition, and that meant it had been another two times he’d had other girls over to feed from them. Your feelings about this confirmed your previous notion that you probably shouldn’t agree to become one of his donors.
Whenever you reasoned with yourself that way, though, your thoughts would be blindsided with the memory of that night three weeks ago. The memory of his cold body pressed to yours, and the ghosting feeling of his teeth in your neck. Every time the feeling attacked your senses you shivered. Could you really live without feeling that again?
Maybe one more time would be enough.
The end of the semester was swiftly approaching, and although you knew this was the time to focus more on studying, your best friend had invited you to a party tonight to help you destress. He had assumed you were worried about your finals, but he had no clue you were occupied with giving Soobin an answer.
That was one of the hardest things, you decided, about this whole predicament. You couldn’t talk to anyone about it. Who could you turn to for advice without exposing Soobin’s secret? Who would believe you anyway?
What you hadn’t expected when stepping into the cramped house party was seeing your roommate there. Of course, you knew that Soobin went out to parties from time to time, but you hadn’t prepared yourself to see him like this. Around the apartment he would wear baggy sweats and his bangs would fall into his face. Not tonight.
When you entered the kitchen to get yourself a drink you felt his presence. Of course, when you looked to your left, there he was. You couldn’t help but give him a once over. His midnight black hair was parted slightly on one side, and he was wearing a gray hoodie with a dark green flannel jacket over. His big hands held a red solo cup, and the way he gripped it reminded you of his grip on your jaw. Feeling awkward, you continued your scan of him. His black jeans accentuated his long legs, and when you looked back up at his face he was smirking at you.
Oh shit.
The embarrassment of getting caught giving him an up-down made you quickly look away. Your eyes had other plans though, as you stole one more glance at at him. He was still looking at you.
‘Like what you see?’ He mouthed at you with his eyebrows raised. This time when you turned your head you didn’t dare look at him again.
Instead, you approached the kitchen island. There was such a large variety of drinks you didn’t know what to grab. You weren’t much of a drinker to begin with.
You could still feel Soobin’s eyes on you.
Your friend Yeonjun, who you had honestly forgotten was there, put an arm around your shoulders. “You don’t even know where to start, huh?”
Suddenly Soobin’s gaze on you and Yeonjun’s arm felt like too much. It’s not like Soobin didn’t know Yeonjun was your friend. He had come over to the apartment many times to hang out. However, you and Soobin’s relationship had been… weird, to say the least, and it made Yeonjun’s affection feel heavy now.
“What’s your goal for tonight, Y/N?”
Yeonjun’s voice broke you out of your thoughts. You turned your face to look at him, “What?”
He laughed. “Pay attention. I asked, what’s your goal here? A light buzz? Want to get fucked up?”
You didn’t hesitate. “I need to get fucked up.”
Another laugh. “Okay, I got you. I’ll make sure you get home tonight, so,” he grabbed a plastic shot glass and poured you some gin, “just let go and have fun.”
The gin burned on its way down, and when you exhaled roughly and set the shot glass down on the counter Yeonjun was already handing you a plastic cup. You took your first sip of whatever concoction of alcohol he had given you, and at that moment one of Yeonjun’s other friends called out to him.
“I’ll be right back, Y/N.”
“No worries.” You smiled at him, “I’ll find a corner to exist in. Hopefully there’s a dog or cat around here somewhere I can pet.”
He rolled his eyes at you and allowed himself to be pulled into another room by a boy you had met before a few times named Beomgyu. You were about to leave the kitchen as well when you felt something solid against your left shoulder. Without looking you knew who it was.
“You think you’re going to get fucked up on a vodka sprite?”
You turned your body to face him. “Oh, I’ll get there. Don’t worry.”
Soobin sighed lightly before pouring you another shot of gin. “What’s got you so worried you need to get drunk?”
You lifted the shot before taking it. It burned less than the first but still made you wince slightly. “I’ve been thinking a lot lately.”
His expression didn’t give anything away. “Well, I hope you come to a good conclusion.” He placed a hand on your shoulder before he walked past you and left you in the kitchen.
Unfortunately, you kept your word. You lost count of the shots you took and the drinks Yeonjun poured you. Of course, he was a good friend and tried to get you to take it slow, but when you started feeling buzzed you wanted it even more.
So when you were getting a little too drunk Yeonjun knew he had to cut in. He led you to the back porch of the house, and the cold air bit into your skin through your sweater.
“I’m going to go get you some water, Y/N. Stay here.”
You mumbled a response of agreement. After a few moments, you looked up at the sky. No stars. That was expected to be the case, with all the lights of the city polluting the atmosphere.
Without Yeonjun and his other friends to drink and laugh and talk with, your mind felt more clear. Maybe you weren’t sobering up yet, but just having a moment of clarity through the fog in your mind.
Would the cold ever not remind you of that night? Would you ever be able to feel cold again without thinking of his hands on you?
You felt someone sit beside you. “Yeonjun-.” You cut yourself off when you turned and saw it was your roommate.
“Not quite.”
Soobin handed you a water bottle, and you took it graciously. “Thanks.”
The silence that sat above the two of you wasn’t uncomfortable. Probably because your intoxication didn’t allow you to feel discomfort. You didn’t attempt to open the water.
“Yeonjun said he was going to take you home, but I offered to take you instead.”
“Why?” You sounded harsher than intended, but he didn’t seem phased.
“I mean, we live together. It makes sense.”
“You don’t want to stay longer?”
He looked at the sky and smiled to himself. Beautiful, you thought. “I’ve got my fill of human interaction for now.”
You laughed and joined him in looking up. “It’s weird when you say that.”
He put a hand on your knee, but you didn’t look. You willed yourself to not react to his touch. You weren’t sure if you succeeded in your drunken state. “Did I really stress you out this much?”
The softness in Soobin’s voice squeezed your heart. You caved and looked down at his hand before placing one of yours on top. “You didn’t stress me out. I wanted to drink because I was confused.”
His voice was quiet. “Confused?”
Your eyes met his. You found where all the stars were. “I don’t know how to act around you anymore.”
“Be you. That’s all you need to do.”
“But, don’t you want me to say yes?”
His smile seemed sad this time. “I do, but I won’t be mad if you say no.”
Your eyes traveled back to where your hand held his. “Why do you need me? You already have four other donors.”
He leaned closer to you and held his face near your neck. Your body tensed and your mind became loud. Was he about to do it? Here?
“I don’t want to be rude, but, your blood…” He trailed off, and you felt him inhale deeply. “I’ve never tasted anything like it.”
A shiver ran down your spine. Was it fear? Was it excitement? Nothing made sense anymore, especially not how much you wanted him to sink his fangs into you again.
“Do you want to taste it again?”
You felt his nose move against your skin as his face got closer to yours. “Does that mean you’ll do it? You’ll be my donor?”
Your stomach did somersaults at his words. You knew you shouldn’t. You knew it would inevitably lead you down the dangerous path of the unknown. You couldn’t have a normal roommate relationship with him anymore, or ever be his friend. Not if you agreed to let him do this.
But you needed it. You needed to feel that way again.
“Yes.”
He smiled against your jaw. “Yes?”
“Yes, so please, Soobin. Do it again.”
“You’re drunk.” He kissed your jaw before slowly pulling away. “I couldn’t do that to you now. Not like this.”
Your body followed his and you leaned into him. You were chest-to-chest, your eyes fixed on his, and you were so close you could feel his cold breath fan across your face. “Would I taste bad?”
Soobin chuckled lightly. “You could never taste bad to me, Y/N. But I’m not going to take advantage of you like that.”
You groaned, which made him laugh more. Then he stood and offered you his hand. “Should we go home?”
The idea of being home with him now after agreeing to be a donor made your brain feel like mush, but you took his hand and let him help you up anyway.
Before you could get very far though you felt your phone buzz in your pocket. A text, but you didn’t read who it was from. Your eyes got caught on the top of your screen. 1:07am. December 5th.
“Oh.”
He turned to face you. “Oh?”
You showed him your screen and smiled.
“Happy birthday, Soobin.”

Summary: You knew something was off about your roommate Soobin ever since the beginning of your living arrangement. One night he reveals his true self to you, and you know you can never go back to how things were before. Not that you would want to, anyway.

part one!
Song: Sugar by Sleep Token
It was all so cold. Soobin’s lips, his hand holding your head in place and the other gently placed on your lower back, and his teeth sunken into you; it was cold.
That’s what made it so explosive.
The cold of him crashing into the warmth that filled your body at his touch gave you so much pleasure it was painful. It was snow, but it was also fire. Your body felt hot to the point you began to sweat, and his cool body pressed to yours was beyond heavenly. Funny, because this had to be an act that would send you straight to hell.
But then he retracted his teeth from you, and sucked.
You couldn’t stop the small moan that escaped you. Before you could even begin to pray he hadn’t heard it, you felt him smirk against your skin. His grip got tighter as he sucked with more fervor. Your insides were tingling, vibrating at a speed so fast you could faint. It was too much. Feeling the blood being drawn was almost orgasmic, and at the realization you were getting off to this, you tried to push him away.
You couldn’t move.
Whether it was your own brain being unwilling to assist your body’s desire to escape, or something he had done, you weren’t sure. The pleasure was becoming all too much to handle, and you fought yourself to reach a trembling hand up to his chest. “Soobin.”
It was more of a moan than you had meant. You had meant to get his attention, to get him to stop. It certainly got his attention. His hand on your back found its way to your ass. He gently squeezed while pulling you impossibly closer.
The shakiness in your voice would have embarrassed you in any other situation, but you were too far gone to care about that. “Soobin, please…”
That’s when you felt him poking at your stomach. Oh. Oh.
You had to get away before you passed the point of no return. Soobin was your roommate. You weren’t even sure if you could consider him a friend. But you were about to fuck him after he did whatever it was he just did.
It had felt like hours but was probably only a minute before his lips slowly left your skin. Whatever force that had been keeping you from moving slowly lifted and you pushed against him with both hands on his chest.
He leaned toward you again but you pushed harder. His voice was low, “Wait-”
The fireworks you felt in your stomach before had finished and left fumes in your head. The world spun, and then suddenly everything was dark.
It felt so good. Why had it felt so fucking good?
It was surprisingly easy to avoid Soobin. A week after that incident and you’d only seen him once. That one time, however, he hadn’t said anything. He sat on the couch and stared at the TV that hadn’t been turned on. When you got closer he turned his head to look at you, but you fled to your room. It was too soon. You weren’t sure when you’d be ready, but you knew it was too soon.
There was so much to process that if you even tried to think about it you felt dizzy. Vampires were real. Your roommate was one. He sucked your blood. Soobin was a vampire and he sucked your blood. Not only had he sucked your blood, but the two of you had been so incredibly turned on that the sexual tension could’ve been cut with a knife. You would’ve let him fuck you if you hadn’t passed out. The more you thought about it the crazier you felt you were going. What if it had been a dream?
A dream, it couldn’t be. You had a bruise on your neck for a day after the event. It had happened. But what now? It’s not like you were angry, so it felt silly to be playing this avoiding game, but you couldn’t help it. You weren’t mad, but it had been scary. His eyes, his fangs, his touch, and the intensity; it had all been too much. So you hid from him the best you could.
Luck couldn’t be on your side forever.
Exactly one week after Soobin had revealed himself as a vampire to you he found you in one of the libraries at your university. It wasn’t too surprising, considering most liberal arts majors could find what they needed at this library.
Amidst the aisles of books, he found you standing in a section of books about grammar. You were nose-deep in a book about when to break the typical rules of syntax. “There’s my roommate.”
Looking up was a mistake. Your cheeks instantly heated up at the sight of him. His dark hair was in contrast to the light tan sweater he wore with sleeves rolled up to show off his forearms. Looking at them led to his big hands, and the memory of how he held you was enough to make you cough slightly.
“Are you going to talk to me, Y/N?”
“Do I have to?” You closed the book and held it under your arm. You had intended to turn and go check it out to read elsewhere, but something kept you standing there. “Are you doing that?”
The confusion on his face seemed genuine. “Am I doing what?”
“Nevermind.” It must've been your curiosity that kept you from leaving. “What did you want to talk about?”
He huffed a quiet laugh. “What do you think?”
No one was around, you confirmed by looking. “You want to talk about that here?”
Soobin took a step toward you. “At home, you can hide in your room. I don’t have a choice, do I?”
You stood your ground and didn’t move. “That sounds more predatory than friendly.”
Another step. He had effectively entered your personal space. “We’ll only talk, seriously.” He eyed you up and down, “I’ve already gotten a taste.”
If anyone else had said that you might’ve felt grossed out, but the sultry tone in his voice took your mind right back to the previous Tuesday when he’d gotten that ‘taste.’ You looked away quickly. “What if someone hears?”
He put a hand on your shoulder and it shot electricity straight to the pit of your stomach. “Do you think there’s any other dork here at 9pm reading about grammar?” He leaned in close to whisper in your ear, “Would you rather we talk like this?”
“No.” You cleared your throat, “We can talk normally. So…” You looked down at where your feet were nearly touching his. “Vampires… are real?”
Without looking you could hear the grin in his voice. “We don’t have to whisper sweet nothings, but you can still keep your voice down a little, right?”
You looked back up at him slightly wide-eyed. You said quieter, “Sorry.”
He was smiling, as you had predicted. “It’s fine. And to answer your question, I’m standing right here, aren’t I?”
You huffed. “It’s not funny, I’m being serious.”
The small smile didn’t leave his face. “I am, too. But to answer your question, yes, vampires exist.”
Your questions started flowing then. “But how can you go outside when it’s daylight?”
“That’s a myth humans started, along with garlic and wooden stakes. Well, a wooden stake would kill anyone if they were stabbed.”
You simply nodded and began to process what he was saying. “So, how old are you actually?”
“I’ll be two hundred and fifteen next month.”
“How do you look so young?”
“I was twenty-three when I was turned, so I will look twenty-three forever.”
“When you were turned? So your parents-”
“I’d rather not talk about them, but yes, they aren’t my real parents.”
His face had turned sour. You let the subject of Soobin’s parents drop since it was obviously a sore spot for him. Instead, you had one big question that was bugging you the most. “This is kind of embarrassing, but I have to know.” You paused to brace yourself for how awkward this might be. “When you… when you sucked my blood, why did it feel good? Shouldn’t it have, like, hurt?”
He smiled again. “It felt really good, right?” You could feel a rush of embarrassment well up inside you and hoped it didn’t show on your face. “We can manipulate how someone feels whenever we suck their blood for the most part. It’s all in the technique whether it feels pleasant or painful. For some people, however…”
“What?”
“I don’t want to make you feel awkward.”
You laughed humorlessly. “I’m not sure it could get any more awkward, Soobin.”
He came closer to speak quietly in the shell of your ear. “For some people, it’s more pleasurable than for others. I can’t control that. That was all you.”
He pulled back slightly to look into your eyes. Somehow, your voice was more composed than you thought it would be. “It wasn’t all me. You also…”
His eyes were intense as they stared into yours, but you couldn’t read the emotion they held. You could only hope it was the same as you were feeling. Indescribable want. Desire you had never felt in this magnitude before. Although you had already crossed some type of physical line with him, the idea of being this close set off every alarm bell in your head. You wanted to push him away. You wanted to pull him closer. You wanted to run. You wanted to know if his cold lips on yours would feel as soft and plush as they looked.
You wanted him to bite you again.
“Y/N.”
Breathlessly, you answered. “Yes?”
“I have a proposition for you.”
You glanced at his lips, and some small part of you was secretly hoping you’d be able to see his fangs again. “What is it?”
“Look at me.”
His brown eyes seemed darker than before when you met them with your own. In that moment, you couldn’t help but be weak. When he looked that good, when he was that close, when he could easily give you what was the best feeling you’d ever experienced. He spoke slowly.
“I want you to be one of my donors.”

Infidelity (1) - Wonho X Reader
Tumblr media
Wonho (Lee Hoseok) X (fem) Reader
Word Count: 2.4k
Warning: mentions of religion, cheating, drinking, unprotected sex, public sex
*cross-posted on ao3, this is a revised version of the original story
Summary: You've been having trouble navigating a rocky relationship with your boyfriend and his religious family, but one night with Hoseok at the club helps you relieve your tension.
Bored is an understatement, you decide, as you sit at a table in the back of the dimly lit club sipping water. You’re the designated driver for your friends tonight, but if you’re honest you wish you were drunk and dancing with a hot stranger. It would be a good way to forget about the argument you had from hours before.
Jacob is a decent boyfriend, but he sure knows how to make you feel like shit. He is fine as hell, olive skin, perfect white teeth, and a curly mop of perfect black curls on top of his head. But the two of you have one major conflict: Jacob is from a perfect, picket fence Christian home and you are definitely not what one would call a ‘woman of God’. His parents hate you, his siblings judge you, but the sex can be heavenly.
Thinking about it only escalates your anger. Who is he, to sit on a throne and look down on you? He drinks, he has sex, he curses! But he had the gall to condemn you for going out tonight, a Saturday night, before he drags you to a service at his church tomorrow.
Releasing a sigh you look up and do a scan of your friends on the dance floor. Everyone seems to be having a good time and no one seems to be in need of a rescue. As a designated driver, it’s always important to make sure none of your drunk friends are trapped in uncomfortable and possibly dangerous situations. To forget about how much you wish you were dancing and drinking, you open Instagram on your phone only to regret it. Smiling brightly at you, the first post is from Beth, a girl in Jacob’s bible study group. The two of them are grinning, touching cheek to cheek, and holding up what you cold only assume to be plastic cups of Hawaiian Punch. The two of you had talked many times about the big crush Beth has on your boyfriend, but he refuses to listen.
It was when you put your phone down on the table with a huff you notice the pair of piercing dark eyes staring holes in you. The eyes belong to a man who must’ve been sculpted by a Greek god. You want to look away, but his stare pulls you into a trance that was impossible to escape. He’s wearing a black and red button up, buttoned low enough to expose his chest, his blonde hair is in opposition to the dark look in his eyes. They’re not intimidating but inviting. Your heart skips a beat when you see him take one step in your direction, butyour view is abruptly occupied by one of your friends.
“Hey”, she slurred, “which drink is mine?” She giggles while twirling a strand of her purple hair on her finger.
You hand it to her carefully, though your words are frantic. “How do I look, Sophia?”
Her laugh escapes her perfect, pink lips again, “Hot as shit! I’d hit!” She haphazardly places her drink on the table after a quick sip. As she turns to head back to the dance floor you call out to her to be careful. You close your eyes and release a breath you didn’t realize you were holding. ‘That looks fun…’
When you open your eyes to your surprise the handsome stranger is standing at your table. You hide your surprise the best you can, but he must have seen your blush peek through because he smirks. Extending a hand to you he introduces himself, “I’m Hoseok.”
Taking his hand you smile, “Y/N.”
“May I sit?” You scoot over in response to make room for him in the cramped booth. When he sits you realize how muscular this stranger is, and his large thigh touching yours makes you a little nervous. He gives you an up-down with his eyes, but you keep your composure. “Why aren’t you dancing, Y/N?”
His eyes finally meet yours and you feel butterflies erupting in your stomach. It definitely isn’t good to be this attracted to someone who hasn’t even spoke more than ten words to you yet. “I’m driving tonight, and I guess I just don’t feel like dancing.”
He softly caresses one of your hands resting on your lap, “Just because you’re not drinking? You don’t need to drink to have fun.”
“I know!” You protest, but you don’t flee from his touch. He is incredibly sexy, charming, and already touching you. Trouble.
“So, will you dance with me?” Hoseok sets off every warning in your head. All signs pointed to mistakes, but you nod.
He leads you to the dance floor and his hands find their place on your hips. He slips behind you, and you grind on him to the beat of the music. Feeling his hot breath on your neck only encourages you to keep going. You reach back and run your hands across his shoulders as he grinds right back onto your ass. The music pulses in your ears along with the beat of your heart, ever so slowly increasing. He suddenly turns you around but continues to dance. “Would you want to take this somewhere else?”
You stand on the tips of your toes to assure he can hear you. Lips softly caressing his ear you say, “I have to stay. I’m the designated driver, remember?”
He grabs your hands and puts them on his shoulders. After giving your neck a few gentle kisses he murmurs into your ear, “We don’t have to leave the club.”
“Aren’t you moving pretty fast? We haven’t even danced for that long.”
His next words pierced right through your resolve. “I’m just a man who knows what I want.”
The butterflies from before are now eagerly trying to escape your stomach and a tingle between your legs has lit a fire. You whisper back loud enough for only him to hear, “Show me what you have in mind.”
He leads you to the bathroom and although your brain is fighting it with all it’s might, your heart wins out and you follow his lead. Well, maybe not your heart, but something akin to desire inside of you. As soon as the door is closed and locked you are pushed back against the door. His lips hungrily attach to your exposed neck and shoulders, and his hands push off the thin straps of your satin, periwinkle dress. You grab his shoulders to steady yourself before snaking one hand down to rub his bulge. He groans in response, and you feel him smile against the dainty gold chain of your necklace.
His breathing is just as unsteady as yours as he pulls back and examines your neck. He smirks, “A cross?”
His hands are tugging on the hem of your dress and in a moment of stupidity and blatant honesty you blurt out, “My boyfriend gave it to me.”
His eyes catch yours for only a moment before he huffs, “Some boyfriend you have, he must be terrible.” One hand gingerly leaves the hem of your dress only to caress between your legs. You gasp and hold his large biceps with both hands. “You’re so wet and needy for me already. Some shit boyfriend.” He whispers the last part, and roughly bites your shoulder. You couldn’t hold yourself back any longer from grabbing his face and pressing your lips to his. The last thing you want to do is think about Jacob. You only want to get lost in Hoseok’s embrace.
His hand on your pussy gently moves, and he begins to rub your clit through your panties with his index and middle fingers. You wildly run your hands through his hair as the pace of the kiss picks up. His free hand roams over your breasts and you gasp as he pinches one of your nipples through your dress and bralette. He breaks the kiss to your dismay.
“Looks like you wanted to find someone tonight. Is he here?”
You kiss his jaw and murmur, “No. Please, I need you right now.”
He removes the hand from your panties and gently touches your cheek with his palm, but the look in his eyes is scarily dark. It sends a new wave of desire down to where you wanted him most. “I’ll fuck you until you forget him.”
His left hand abandons your breasts and slithers down to pull up the bottom of your dress. Your hands work on undoing his belt and pants, but the two of you refuse to break this kiss. It’s an ill-fought battle for dominance, and Hoseok has been winning from the start. His tongue slides over yours and you can’t help but let out a moan.
“Pretty”, he says against your lips as he lines himself up with your entrance. “What pretty sounds.” He rubs the head of his dick against your clit in hopes of ellicting a reaction.
It works, of course, and you moan loudly before remembering where you were. Your cheeks flared red with embarrassment.
“Hos- Hoseok..”
He bites your lip before releasing it. “What?”
You hook one leg around his waist, effectively pulling him even closer. “I need you in me, please”, you breathe out.
He chuckles slightly sadistically before softly grasping your chin in one hand. His other hand was still rubbing himself onto you. It was maddening. “But what about your boyfriend, Y/N?”
You groan, which makes him snicker lowly. “Please fuck me, Hoseok.” You hate begging, but he has a point. He is a stranger caught up in your infidelity.
“Jump.” You do as you’re told and wrap your legs around him. He places you against the door, and the anticipation of finally getting what you’ve been lusting over makes your mouth water. In a moment of out of place sweetness, he whispers against the cusp of your ear, “Let me know if it’s too much, please.”
Without any more warning than that, he slowly pushes into you. You bite your lip hard as he finally bottoms out. It hurts in the most pleasurable way. He was much bigger than Jacob. You don’t get much time to adjust as he pulls back and slides back in. Again and again, until he’s picking up the pace. The pleasure begins to make you teary-eyed. “More.”
A wicked laugh escapes his lips as he place a hands on the door while keeping the other hand roughly holding your ass. His lips catch yours in a heated kiss as his hips begin to snap rapidly. You grip him even tighter with your hands and legs, holding on for your life, and unknowingly also grip his dick inside of you. He releases a low growl against your lips and you’re suddenly aware of the door rattling behind you. The idea of getting caught turned you on even more. His kisses move to your neck and ear again, and you can’t help but throw your head back in pleasure. Between his sucking on your skin and his dick bringing you closer to the edge, you know you won’t last much longer, but you don’t want him to stop. Every ounce of your willpower is holding onto your orgasm and refusing to let go. Thrust after delicious thrust is eating away at you, and the pleasure so intense your head feels fuzzy.
“Let it go, baby. Cum on me, Y/N.”
You can’t hold on any longer after that, and you release around his cock. Wave after wave of ecstasy washes over your entire body making you arch your back and curl your toes. He keeps pumping into you until it the feeling is unbearable.
He quickly pulls out and unwraps you from his body. “On your knees.” The demand makes your weak knees shake more, but you comply. He pumps himself with his hand for only a few seconds before he cums all over your chest. The sight of him, jerking movements and grunts looking down on you, gets you impossibly more hot and bothered. Your breath catches in your throat as he comes off his high and locks his eyes with yours.
The eye contact only lasts a few moments before he moves to get a paper towel and wet it. Your high was wearing off, and the emptiness made you feel frozen in your place on your knees on the dirty bathroom floor. He hands the paper towel to you so you can clean yourself up, then does the same for himself. He won’t make eye contact with you as he gets dressed, and you feel awkward in this small space with him. You stand up but neither of you say anything, until he finally breaks the silence.
You’re wiping at the little bit of cum on the neckline of your dress when he speaks. HE’s holding his phone out to you. “Your number.”
Your hands are shaking slightly as you put your name and number in. When you give it back to him, he smiles at you and leaves you alone in the bathroom with a small smirk and a “see you soon, Y/N”.
He’s out of the bathroom and you attempt to straighten yourself up. Makeup is smudged and hair is everywhere, but you can’t make yourself care. The rush of your encounter with Hoseok sticks a smile to your face and drives a rush through your heart.
When you finally make it out of the bathroom your friends inform you how late it is and how they want to go home. You look around for Hoseok, but you don’t see him. It doesn’t matter, you think, because you’re sure you’ll hear from him soon enough.
 ~~~
“Aren’t you hot, sweetie?” Jacob eyes you up and down, taking in your beige, long sleeve turtleneck dress. “It’s like 75 outside.”
“I feel fine.” You smile at him as you stand for opening prayer.
You hear his mother murmur under her breath, “At least she’s covered up for once…”
You can’t help but smirk, thinking of all the marks Hoseok left behind. ‘If only you knew…’
I hope you enjoyed it!! Thanks for reading!
