Re: Triple Strings, i'd just like to add that from the screenshots of the articles, it seems the reporting on it was honestly quite late with March - October 2015. That company was already incorporated on Jan 16, 2015 by lawyers Lawrence Engel (who was also director of 3 companies of One Direction) and Michael Smith. Louis was only shareholder (together with Simco Ltd., belonging to Simon Cowell) right from the get-go, BUT he wasn't even appointed director of Triple Stings Ltd. until Sep 30, 2016 -- so more than 1,5 years later! As a shareholder he did not have the same power as a director. Also, most importantly, Triple Strings Ltd. was set to "dormant" right from day one! The company was never used and (judging from my research-rooted experience) was also never intended to be used; there was and still is only the 100 £ of the 100 shares (50 held by Louis, 50 by Simco Ltd.) in the Accounts and the accounts were always/are frozen. Also, on Dec 21, 2015, Simon Jenkins (Simco Ltd. + Syco Entertainment Ltd.) was appointed secretary of the company. He was a secretary for Sony Entertainment UK Ltd., as well. (A VP at Sony BMG is called Simon Jenkins, too, but I'm not 100% sure if it’s the same guy). He was terminated from that role just 7 months ago, on June 27, 2024. This dormant-right-from-incorporation-tomfoolery has not happened with any of the other 5 companies Louis also owns, but it did happen in a similar way with one other company of Harry's. Contrary to Triple Strings, though, that company never had any ties to Simon Cowell (or Modest!, for that matter) and also got dissolved after 5 years. I seriously have absolutely no idea why Triple Strings Ltd. hasn't been filed for a voluntary strike-off from the register, because it was dead on arrival and to this day, remains a tie between Simon and Louis. Maybe Simon Jenkins' termination 7 months ago was a step into its' long-awaited death... (all of this info and way, way more will be in my upcoming masterposts, of course)

It sounded at this point like Louis was on track, had songs written, had songs recorded.. Did a charity single in 2017, Just Like You cane out as a single ep.. He chatted in Nov 2017 about releasing an album and touring in 2018! Perfect, right?

....except there were crickets the first half of 2018.

January brought Louis roasting Coachellas 2018 lineup.. Towards the end of Jan, an Ask anything video.. | x

February, he teased Habit lyrics.. we have a photo of him recording All Along... And not much else..

March, The "Miss You" singer won the Best Solo Breakout award, beating out Camila Cabello, and his former One Direction bandmates, Harry Styles, Niall Horan and Liam Payne. Oh, so 4 or 5 of them were on the radio simultaneously... | x

Synopsis of rest of the year: (X-Factor, a couple awards, signing with WMA). Louis and Dalton Harris stuck it to cowbell and won the season.

2019 rolls around.. Two of Us promo starts and halts in March for a few weeks due to the passing of Fizzy. Louis took some time off (as to be expected) to be with family.

As of this point, Louis had released: Dec 2016: Just Hold On (not backed by an album) 2017: Back To You (no album) 2017: Miss You (no album) 2017: Just Like You (Non-album promo single) 2018: nothing! 2019: Two of Us (unattached at the time)

Yet another label change Feb 2019 now a move to Arista… STILL under S*co/S*ny.

So, 3 years in and NO completed album still? The other unattached but soon to be on the next album Walls were: KMM, We Made It, and DLIBYH with zero promotion, just a director's cut MVs that mirror much of the story Papillon.

Finally, Walls is out in 2020 with it's 4th and final single, and very little promotion.

Flash forward to concerns in 2022/2023 of the same issue: Absolutely NO airplay in his home city and surrounding areas, very little marketing in the US.

Part 2: Louis' Role in 1D thru 2016

I highlighted Louis' slow moving career that started with self released singles, two label pickups (one seeming promising!), a bunch of crickets, and some movement again in 2018. To understand what was going on, we have to go back to when the band was first created. This sounds silly, yes, but it is connections that keep continuing to recur this entire time.

First, let's discuss the US market. They did not have any active boybands and record labels saw an opportunity in Brit boybands.

Leading up to January 2020, plans were put into place and discussed by Sony how to cultivate a boyband. Hottest thing in the UK was TXF. Build a boyband, sign them at their first audition in March 2010. This is a crucial link to the UK side of what will occur later on. | x

Louis & Harry both have contract dates March 26, the same day as their initial auditions. The ones on TV are their 3rd/4th. The band was set up ahead of time and played out on the cameras. During their time in the house, Lou is The Leader by week 2 (:50 in).

To reiterate AOTV, Louis has the least amount of vocals, virtually no solos until Midnight Memories. His songwriting skills were a huge asset (after "pissing off a lot of people," according to Savan Kotecha). Savan later told Rolling Stone that LOUIS led their sound forward.

Songwriting, then suddenly music management (NOTE DATE!) became Louis's role. SC began to groom Louis, who consistently fought for the boys behind the scenes, to be his "protege" of sorts and steered him away from a future solo career as early as 2014 and was "given*" an imprint

As we all know, as Louis talked about, the label did not move forward due to micromanagement by SC and S*NY. | x

At this juncture, Louis is now done with the band as of December 2015. He does not have anything lined up but is being courted by.. S*ny head Rob Str*nger. As the article in the OP explains, they wanted him for songwriting &/or music mngmt Louis at...an industry party?

As a desi girl (sab toh soni saadi desi girl iykyk) I was pleasantly surprised when i got to the Psych Bollywood themed episode "Bollywood Homicide" [s4 ep 6] because it wasn't caricatural or disrespectful (in my opinion) and you can tell that actual south asians worked on it when you look at the cast, the opening theme being sung in hindi / urdu, the choice of songs played in the episode, the storyline and the characters + the fact that they had Juliet in a blue saari which is literally the BEST color anyone could have ever picked for her and she looked drop dead gorgeous !!!! And also can we talk about ABIGAIL KNOWING URDU / HINDI ??? She's so perfect I love her 🫂

Especially for something that came out circa 2009 i was reallyyyy worried it wouldn't hold up now but it truly does and it's a really good episode ♡ Love the Psych themed episodes so much !!

p.s : i know it's bare minimum for a show not to be flat out racist lmfao but i love how its just a really well made episode like all the others in the show and they had actual south asians working on it (and also the fact that NOT EVERY BROWN CHARACTER HAD AN EXAGGERATED ACCENT)

Its that, there is no modern AU of Tenali Rama (the SAB sony show) which features Ramakrishna x Krishnadevraya. Where Krishnadevraya is the ceo of a big company and Ramakrishna is his new assistant, hired because of the way he makes the other party agree to all the terms in the contracts and helps weed out those who want to harm the company. Tatacharya is the company's cfo and is like a Obdiah Stane to Krishnadevraya's Tony Stark. Minister Timarasu is the Company secretary and lawyer. Nagar Kotwal is the Head of Security. Both Maharanis are Krishnadevraya's cousin sisters (but from opposite sides, chhoti maharani is from dad's side and and badi maharani is from the mom's side and aren't related to each other). They also get into a throuple with Shardha. Gundappa is a college intern. And also Tatacharya HATES Ramakrishna because he knows about the backdoor dealings and has been a major roadblock in those

Also even the show itself has so many ship moments and potential to be angsty.

The night agent is not a production completely owned by Netflix but a production from and with Sony. So it isn’t your typical Netflix show and the audience for this show is much bigger. Let me summarize: the gays are evil predators who get shot in the face (bury your gays) and they are kidnappers, the potential lesbians never come out as lesbians, the main couple is heterosexual and two people of color have to play care taker for a white pretty woman. Oh and the killers are an evil power woman and a man of color who gets killed half way through. Oh and the president is female but we are not showing her really often and she has little to no power…

So don’t stress yourself about the Night agent. It’s a show many people who still have Netflix but actually hate Netflix watch because „finally a good production again free of this gay agenda“ and many people will put it in the background because the plot is not that deep

Hi Sab! Thanks for putting those Louis business posts together. I was wondering - do you think that Louis had to make sacrifices so that Harry could have the career and success that he has? Or like Louis was thrown under the bus (allowed himself to be thrown under the bus??) so that Harry could have his career?

Hi, Anon! I actually briefly discussed on X so this is a great question I can elaborate. I'm assuming that apart from Louis' career masterpost, your question also also connects to the beginning where it was assumed Louis signed his extension to free the other boys and H in particular.

I actually asked @twopoppies about that weeks ago. She generously shared her thoughts [as explained below—big credits to her] and that's what resonated with me the most, so let me cover that for a bit. I'll copy the exact words I used when I talked about earlier in January.

TL;DR: I believe that Louis signing an extension wasn’t a self-sacrificing act but likely a coerced decision. His contract extension kept him under S*co’s control, which also gave S*ny leverage over Harry. While Harry was given more creative freedom, it was still within a controlled image, whereas Louis faced sabotage and career delays. Both remained tied to the industry’s power plays, but Louis bore the brunt of it.

On Louis' supposed sacrifice (contract extension):

1D in general had a shitty contract with S*co (they can burn to the ground). M*dest as a management was also just as shitty as they were. Louis 'sacrificing' himself is a theory painting him as someone who would do anything to for his bandmates, but I genuinely believe he had no choice in the matter. It could be coercion, we can't say, but they definitely had him on a leash because of certain reasons.

As what I've learned so far: Generally, a contract like he had would come with a right of first refusal (that is, if someone else wanted to sign him, S*co would have the right to either match their offer or let him go). Liam said that he and Niall got offers from their respective labels and were allowed to accept them without any resistance from Sony/Syco.

All the boys being free is a myth. At some points after the 1D contract supposedly ended, all of them were still being monitored by S*ny, disguised by different labels, managements, PR, etc that are connected to S*ny but the GP doesn't know about (unless you do your research). We also don't know the extent of the contracts' terms but I do wish the end in this lifetime.

So, among all of them, why is Louis the most valuable one to keep?

As I (and Gina, and other people who helped me understand the situation) see it, they kept Louis as a way to keep control over Harry. It would’ve been much easier to get Harry to comply if they could put more pressure on Louis. Harry has been able to express himself so openly on stage, and he often mentions how the label didn’t interfere with his albums (he is, but his albums and songs are still somewhat cloaked unless you know the references in a deeper sense, same as Louis). But let’s be real—he’s far too valuable for them to just hand over full creative freedom.

It’s possible they struck a deal where Harry stayed with S*ny, and Louis stuck with S*co. In return, Louis would get his imprint label (which, let’s face it, they never actually used) and the chance to release his own music. It might’ve seemed like a decent compromise at that time.

The record labels basically "own" their artists and will make sure you are profitable, plan your future. And S*co is one of the most prolific abusive and controlling labels in the industry (you can see this from the accounts of previous X-Factor contestants as well). Louis was pushed aside and wasn't supported fully by S*co in terms of his music. He had no freedom with it. And yet, we all know they kept him for so long, dragging his career, and why is that?

So, going back to the career thread and tying it up with the explanation above...

After the band + signing the extension:

L wanted to pursue music and defied execs who wanted him for songwriting/management position.

L was continuously tossed around and sabotaged by his own label (no promos, no airplay, radio banning).

In summary (in consideration of HL as a unit):

S*ny/S*co made sure to keep L as they needed H on a leash.

Apart from the facts stated previously, imo, there is a chance that when a deal was struck pre-hiatus, L (and H) were given offers which were harder to say no to.

1D was supposed to sign an extension but in the end, we knew it was L who signed a 5-yr one.

GP thinks the other boys were completely free but were actually still connected to S*ny and S*co in some ways as solos.

S*ny HAD to keep H as their cash cow. So they probably allowed him to ‘move’ forward with Col*mbia, again, still connected to S*ny. They gave him a little bit more ‘freedom’—but only enough. We see him be more expressive and yet there’s a curated label/management-controlled HS™ persona. The HS™ with het stunts. The womanizer. The closeted H.

S*co/S*ny still fully owned LT™ at that time, and a little tug on the leash that might hurt him could easily impact H’s decisions too.

And even removing H as L’s partner in the equation, this could have possibly also kept other members’ mouth shut about what had/has transpired pre to post-band.

Lastly, L was probably promised a lot of things as part of his extension (whether be promoted as a singer on top of the imprint and other background work as a songwriter + management position), apart from the fact that he likely didn’t have any choice in the matter anyway.

That said, I’m not saying neither of them haven’t made sacrifices for each other (and I mean both ways), but in the bigger picture, I don’t think that’s the case. I also don’t think Harry would ever be the type of person to let Louis take the fall while he and the others enjoyed their freedom. They’re a unit—just like the band was.
