As it's the start of a new season of Doctor Who today, I decided to finally colour the 50th anniversary poster I made for November 2013. Despite the lateness, the finished poster turned out quite nice, with some more details added to the original inks :) Please click for high resolution! Colours in aquarelle, 14 hours.

Remember my 2014 art piece of the Sixth Doctor with all his other selves as cats? With Thirteen here, it’s time to make a new version!

Hi everyone! This will be a public/free-to-view series on my Patreon, to give people an idea of what they can expect from my Patreon feed.

I plan to keep making new posts there as I work, just like when I posted the painting process bit by bit here on tumblr in 2014, and then crosspost to other platforms. Patreon gets everything first. The finished product(s) will then likely be available on products in my RedBubble store.

A smol Purg with their outfit inspired by Snufkin/Snusmumriken ~

Younger Purg has either worn a wide-brimmed hat or had flowers in their hair. I realised recently that referencing Snufkin's flowercrown'd hat is *very* appropriate. Tove Jansson's work is ever-present and ever-inspiring for me as a Nordic person. Snufkin and Purg have some personality traits in common. And the story of Dragon Tamed is set in a kind of alternate universe Sweden.

(Oh, and check out those lowkey Pippi Longstocking-braids! Another childhood fave reference! That was a happy accident?! 😆 )

And with the christmas special Twice Upon a Time, the Twelfth Doctor hands over the TARDIS key to the Thirteenth Doctor. Needless to say, it was an emotional rollercoaster. Thank you, Peter -- I’ll miss you dearly! Welcome, Jodie -- I’m beyond excited too see your era!

“Belief in Rose” - Shots of Detail

Rose Quartz, the mourned mother. Never really there, never truly herself. Only filtered through after-images. The painting, her fountain, her plants, her room. As a hologram, in memories and imagination. Steven grew up with an impossible standard to live up to. Rose has been put on a pedestal, and it's breaking down.

Twice Upon a Time had me tearing up and my heart swell. Jodie Whittaker saved me from crying my eyes out when her Thirteenth Doctor cracked up in that magical smile! 

The magnificent Peter Capaldi was the first Doctor change I’ve gone through, as I became a fan in the midst of Matt Smith’s tenure. Now, I’m beyond excited for this groundbreaking change. 

Welcome, Jodie! And welcome, Thirteen -- I can’t wait to see what your era has in store.

Inktober #3 Jodie Whittaker's Thirteenth Doctor! Smirking like a dork, because what else can I do when we only have a minute of footage and no official outfit :P Series 11 can't come soon enough! I hope she keeps the current sonic screwdriver for a bit, it's pretty... 💙

I thought I should wait to draw the Thirteenth Doctor until her outfit and personality had been revealed, but I just couldn't help myself! 💙 So here's a page of me practicing Jodie Whittaker's features from various googled photos. I'm also delighted by how (according to IMDB) Thirteen is a shorter Doctor, on par with Seven (and wonderful companion Bill Potts!)!

Basically the ending of Doctor Who's "Twice Upon a Time", right? (NO SPOILERS! I'm seeing it tonight!!)

The series 10 finale and Twice Upon a Time had me tearing up and my heart swell. Peter Capaldi has been magnificent as the Doctor, an absolute star, and the first Doctor change I’ve gone through, as I became a fan in the midst of Matt Smith’s tenure. Now, I’m beyond excited for another change in Jodie Whittaker!

I’ll miss you dearly, Twelve. You are fiery, determined, serious, silly, and above all, kind.
