Hey gang, I have something special to share with you.
https://youtube.com/c/AdrenalineDubs
If you know me, you'll know I've been a part of Adrenaline Dubs since the beginning, a Sonic comic dubbing group that mostly focuses on IDW. We do a lot of charity streams to raise money for good causes. It's a very Sonic thing to do, use your powers for good.
Right now, AD is hosting a stream marathon week to promote the Sonic Hacking Contest, an event where fan creators can show off their hacks of Sonic games. It's an annual thing that's existed for almost two decades now, which is amazing. I can't believe I've never heard of it before now! Landy, our voice of Sonic and the primary guy that runs the channel, is playing a bunch of hacks this week to celebrate the amazing work being done in the community.
Additionally, our charitable cause this time is cancer research. Looking at the channel, you may have noticed Rouge is in the thumbnail this time around. Rouge is the primary role I voice at AD, and they have been an important support network while my dad battled cancer. He passed away in May of this year. The group asked if they could use Rouge in the content for this one as an homage, and I'm honored. My dad was one of the few people to know about my voice work and actively support it. He was also a charitable planner and worked with a lot of charities to help them get gifts and funding. I think this would have meant a lot to him, to see us do this. It's been really hard since he died, some days I'm fine and others I'm like a watering can, but I'm trying to do what he asked, live my life and find my happiness. And right now, the way to do that is by lifting my fellow artists up and continuing to create.
I've seen firsthand how a lot of cancer treatment stuff can go, and I've been amazed at how much cancer research has evolved in the eight years he fought the fight. There is so much amazing research being done that can save lives, and funding it is important, especially with a virus still devastating so many hospital systems who need more space and staff. If you have the means, I'd like to encourage you to consider watching and donating to the cause. There's a lot of perks, from certain donation marks going towards art commissions and voice requests, to milestones like showing off previews of future AD content, to just a generally good time celebrating our community. I've got the house to myself and will be joining for as long as I can today, and hopefully throughout the week I can come along for the ride. It feels like the right thing to do.
Here's wishing you all a wonderful week, and I hope you enjoy the Sonic Hacking Contest and AD's coverage of it!
Whisper The Wolf' by @lightdasher (SRB2 Mod)
Sneaking in from the Sonic IDW comics, with her Variable Wispon in tow makes it to SRB2!

I know I barely post here but I'll make an effort to do so. Behold, the New Designs of Mirai the Magican.
Mirai is a Pen-Tailed Treeshrew. He'll work differently than the other characters in the mod in which he'll be depicted within two distinct designs.
The Orange Mirai is his good counterpart. He is closer to his original design as a Hedgehog and will be the main one used within his appearances in the main universe.
The Red One is his evil counterpart. He uses colors from his old elephant shrew designs and will be used within Exile's Timeline. The similarities between the two are intentional.
Hopefully we can get him and many other characters off the ground.
Happy 30th Birthday Knuckles the Echidna! Let's party on the Floating Island!
Also, Happy 30th Anniversary to the original Sonic 3 video game for the Sega Genesis.
Characters made by Sega Adam and Evelyn are both made by me.

I recently discovered this Sonic fan-game from 2018 called Metal Sonic Rebooted, and it's so frikkin good! :D
The basic premise is that Dr. Eggman has created a new line of badniks to hunt down the Chaos Emeralds, and Metal Sonic is determined to find the emeralds before they can, destroying all in his path, to show the doctor that he's still his ultimate creation. (Awww. He really wants his dad's approval. lol)
I really love the way Metal controls in this game. In addition to the basic Sonic moveset, Metal also has a jet-powered forward dash, and a mid-air vertical dash, which are both really cool, but cost a bit of rings to use. Thankfully Metal doesn't drop all of his rings when damaged (only losing 15), unlike his fleshy counterpart. Naturally, Metal also can't drown underwater. The perks of being a lifeless automaton!
Another gameplay mechanic I like is that you can find certain item monitors that summon Bomb (from Knuckles' Chaotix) as a partner! Much like Tails, Bomb follows you and mimics your actions, but if Bomb gets damaged he'll drop some rings and explode, and he won't come back until you find another Bomb monitor (unlike in Chaotix where he'd regenerate instantly after exploding). It's just really neat that the Sonic&Tails buddy system has been recontextualized as a power-up! And if Bomb survives to the end of a level, he'll follow you into the next one. Kinda makes me want to challenge myself to try and keep Bomb alive from the beginning of the game to the end. lol
I also really love the level design and music of this game! I like that it has an almost grungy feel in some levels, which fits for a game starring a ruthless villain like Metal.
Though I haven't finished the game yet, I'm really loving it so far! Makes me wish I heard about it sooner!
What gets me is that this game is technically a mod, being a hack of Sonic 2. But so much of it is altered to the point you'd think it was made from the ground up! Makes me wonder if this game could run on actual hardware. I would love to have this game on a physical cartridge and run it on my old Genesis!
If you're interested, here's a link to Sonic Retro with more info, and even a download link for the game (though you'll need a Genesis/Mega Drive emulator to run it). Also, be wary of light spoilers in the article.
I was asked to do a piece for Christmas @sagexpo!! Lotsa talented and cool people there making some great games. There was over 200+ entries this year, and I could only fit so many on the Christmas tree this year, so be sure to check out the rest of them!
Here are some art of Zer0finix. Might be helpful to archive some of her artwork so people can compare her art from her Sonic days and her Friday Night Funkin Days
