Sonic was easy enough to care for. Quills we’re easy to manage, and with such short fur, knots brushed out easily.

Tails, though?

It drove Eggman crazy. At first, he’d wanted to leave the kit alone, to allow his youngest the chance to manage his fur himself. At this point, though, it was getting ridiculous. Long gold fur tangled horrifically, with the white wisps along his muzzle slowly looking more like a birds nest was glued to his face. Honestly, it’s a miracle the boy hadn’t started matting!

Thankfully, Robotnik had purchased a brush for just this situation.

That’s how they’d gotten here. Tails sat perched in the man’s lap, fiddling anxiously with his namesakes. Eggman was poised behind him with a detangling brush made for the fox’s fur.

“You’ll be fine, my boy.” Eggman reassured, giving the kit a soft pat on the head. “I’ll be careful not to pull, and you’ll feel much better once I’m done.”

Tails nodded, but stayed quiet. The only person who’d ever brushed him before was Sonic, and the hoglet didn’t ever do things like this thoroughly. Besides, helping with fur was usually meant for families.

Did Eggy see them as family?

The thought made the kit happy. Finally having a whole family set tiny fireworks off in the boys heart. Meeting Sonic, his brother in all but blood, had done much the same.

At the same, though, he felt nervous. Did Eggman truly see them as family? Or was this a was to make the boys less of a hassle while they lived here? Was this permanent? Would Eggman cast him aside, too? Would the doctor leave him all alone, just as his parents had four years ago?

Before he could continue spiraling, Eggman’s brush made contact with his fur. The man was as gentle as he could be, brush peeling knots out of fur like a peeler did skin off of vegetables. Gloved hands tug-tug-tugged at particularly stubborn knots, each time met with a soft whine. This sound was answered with soft hushing, and careful hands soothing the area, before the brushing continued

For Eggman, it was almost hypnotic. A soothing, repetitive motion to calm his usually racing thoughts. Privately, he thought it felt nice, being able to care for someone who meant so much to him. Not like the scientist would ever admit to the parental feelings blossoming in his chest like flowers in the sunlight.

On Tails’ end, the brushing was a bit irritating at first. The tugging hurt, even if it was only a little, and he didn’t like staying still so long. He wanted the doctor to hurry up, to get this over with so the six year old could get up and go play.

Then the humming started.

Soft melodies drifted into the kit’s ears. He couldn’t place the tune, but it soothed his fraying nerves. Tails could feel Eggman’s chest rumble with the soft sound, and as the tender care continued, the boy began to be lulled.

The doctor brushed and brushed for what felt like hours, until no more knots could be found squirreled away in his youngest’s dense coat. For a moment, he looked the boy over, pride swelling in his chest at the sight of the kit looking so clean and well-kept.

Only as Eggman made to move, though, did he realize. The kit, now leaning heavily against his chest, was sound asleep, purring all the while.

He supposed it made sense. This sort of thing was usually soothing for mobians, and Eggman had had to hold the boy just a touch forward for the last twenty minutes to properly brush his back.

Well, he thought, it couldn’t be helped. Best to let the boy sleep. Eggman would likely be stuck here for a while until the kit woke up.

…wait.

He had to use the bathroom.

Anyway chapter one of Sonicpoly! Au : The ark

Shadow could not stand the incessant beeping from the machines around him. All he ever heard was those god damned beeps from the machines monitoring him. Monitoring statistics and data that never changed. A whole year of constant and rigorous tests with the same answers back to back and you'd think they'd get a hint.

And yet here he sat anyway. Another routine test.

Doctor Robotnik was on the other side of the room, reading over the data, making notes and humming a song under his breath as he went. A picture of content. Shadow wished he could have that contentment while he went through his tests but he was restless. Always on edge while on his own with the Doctors and scientists. Part of him wished he were back in his tank. Floating mindlessly while they monitored him. But the other part of him didn't want to be locked away from Maria again.

It was used as a punishment now. If he acted out he got put in his tank and wasn't allowed to see Maria. Or more accurately she wasn't allowed to see him. Shadow sighed at the thought alone. It wasn't worth it.

So he said and waited and fought the pounding headache that was growing because of that horrible beeping.

His ear flicked, picking up the sound of footsteps. Not uncommon but these ones sounded different. Boots, military personnel, but also the quiet thumping pad of paws paired with the jangle of chains? He looked towards the doorway and watched.

"Keep walking" the man said above the sound of the chains clinking as..as something that looked like him walked in front? Shadows eyes widened. What- no, who was that? Was that another subject like Shadow? How come he didn't know about them? His eyes ran across the fleeting form quickly trying to memorise everything.

One thing stood out the most. Their face. It was miserable..

"Shadow." Doctor robotniks voice scared him, his pulse jumping as he snapped his head back to look up at the doctor in front of him.

"Yes doctor?" He said meekly, respectfully.

"Your tests are done for today. You may go." He motioned with his hand.

"Of course doctor.." shadow said as he started to unplug himself from the equipment. Slowly and methodically. His mind was racing. He had so many questions. Doctor Robotnik didn't mention anything about another ultimate lifeform? He would have to talk to Maria about it.

Maria. His thoughts shifted to his best friend, his sister. A small smile graced his face as he finished up plugging himself and tidying up the cables before skating out of the lab and down the hall towards his sister. The thoughts of the other subject pushed to the back of his mind for now.

I have a finalized prompt idea for my Stobotnik AI AU and now just trying to think of an actual plot that uses the idea? I really wanna do more with it...

The whole concept is that while going through the Doctor's belongings after his death, to try to find a sense of direction, Stone discovers a years old, abandoned AI copy of Eggman that the doctor had been working on as a virtual assistant shortly before Stone was hired. What Stone doesn't know is that the AI is based off of actual scans of Eggman's brain from the era he was building it, effectively making a version of the Doctor that was locked in time about 2 to 3 years before Sonic 1. It also has pre-programmed restraining bolts effecting its behavior, to make it more agreeable and "assistant like". (Ivo is enough of a narcissist to try to make an assistant version of himself, but is also self aware enough to know he's make an AWFUL assistant without some... Tweaks. Is this kinda unethical considering it's a sentient AI copy of himself? Probably? Does he care? No! It's a version of him! If anyone would understand his motivations, it would be him after all.) The AI is called AIVOs, or "Artificially Intelligent Virtual Operating System", pronounced either "Eye-voss" or "Ivo", depending on user preference.

Stone activates the AI and rapidly becomes obsessed with it, refusing to move on from his grief now that he has a new version of the Doctor. (Also the grief of losing a loved one PLUS suddenly having a version of said VERY AGGRESSIVE loved one thats kinda... artificially forced to be subservient REALLY fucks with him and he likes that AIVOs can't really say no to him a lot more than he should. He's very aware he's not handling his grief in a healthy way and... doesn't care.) AIVOs eggs him on more and more, goading him into finishing the Doctor's old projects and encouraging his new ideas, all under the guise of getting revenge- prompting the creation of Metal Sonic and slowly transforming him into the next Eggman.

“Shadow the Hedgehog vs the World” Poster Redux

Here is the final render of the poster that started it all over a year ago! This is for an AU I am still working on. I have a summary of the story and the original rough draft of the poster down below ⬇️

The story centers around Shadow the Hedgehog transporting himself to a new yet hostile world,

a world where GUN becomes corrupt,

a world where Black Arm/organic hybrids cause chaos within the umbra of society,

a world where Shadow died,

after Sonic is accidentally taken through a portal. Specifically in a Westopolis that will soon face the Promised Day.

Within the city, he is faced against a disgraced scientist as well as Sonic’s kidnapper named Dr. Kreo along with their hybrid experiments and their acquaintance, Doom’s Eye. In order to return him and Sonic to their own world, he must either follow every whim of the Doctor within the underground of Westopolis, or trek into the world to find the chaos emeralds. It won’t be easy to achieve the latter, however, as he is now a wanted suspect by gun due to stealing something, or rather someone, valuable to them as well as being a Black Arms hybrid, an ultimate lifeform, out in the open.

Will Shadow let humanity defy his destiny once again to save those he value, or will he face against the world to risk his powers and potentially his life in order to keep his newfound identity intact while protecting those in his own way?

Some classic sonic brainstorming and worldbuilding for my superhero AU!!!

Quick summary under the cut

All of Sonic’s big adventures stay the same in this AU… but between adventures Sonic has a normal life under his secret identity Nikki! So I wanted to flesh out what his life would be like starting with the first game. Nikki and Uncle Chuck are new to South Island, having just moved to Green Hill, when Robotnik comes around to start turning animals into robots. With his uncle’s support, he heads out to stop Robotnik, not for the first time and far from the last… not long after Sonic chases him off is Nikki’s first day at his new school, where he makes friends with fellow classmate Amy Rose! Not long after this would be the events of CD, then of course Sonic 2, where Sonic meets Tails and then promptly drags him home to live with him and his uncle after finding out he has no family. And then not long afterwards 3&K happens and then beyond!
