the scenes opens to jino wiping away the fog from his mirror in nothing but a shaving cream beard, a santa hat and flannel bottoms.

caption: it’s the beginning of december! you know what that means ~

he does a small dance — it’s not great given the small space of his bathroom — but he does what he can as shown from the snipped angle of his camera aimed at his reflection in the mirror; he’s miming the words of the current song that’s playing. jino finishes off shaving before splashing his face with water, finishing it off with a dab of his towel at the cut of his jaw.

getting ready to leave, he helps leash up meong-meong. taking her along with him for today’s adventure, he makes sure to don her sweater to beat the seoul cold. and once she’s all fixed up, he slips on his converse and leaves — allowing the door to close to the camera’s view.

jino was used to having real trees for christmas and while not as common in korea, after having searched naver for hours the few nights before, he found a place that seemed promising. taking his grandpa’s truck, he hoped being this prepared would give him a bit of luck for today’s hunt for a real tree (fingers crossed that he wasn’t doing this for nothing!).

walking up and down the aisles, to his disappointment, jino realizes he didn’t see any trees lined up. instead, what he left with was a miniature norfolk island pine that had been dressed up with christmas decorations such as a red garland and gold baubles. 

despite his disappointment, meong-meong marched alongside him with a treat one of the florists had handed her while jino had been looking around.

thank god jino had made a list for what to buy — after finding himself in chirstmas shopping heaven, he had finally understood what most people meant by wanting to buy it all. 

the camera pans onto his list that he has opened up on his notes app: christmas tree!!!; stockings for moo, me, and meong-meong + glitter pen for our names; decorations for moo’s fish tank; ornaments; star for tree; tree lights; (1) santa and (1) snowman. 

he felt quite proud of himself, narrowing down what he needed — it was simple but he knew if he let his impulsive tendencies run away with him, he would find himself in trouble when the holiday season ended and he had no space to store everything.

the camera shows the elevator dinging open to show jino’s feet as he pushes the trolley carrying the christmas tree box towards his apartment door. unlocking it shows meong-meong waiting for him at the entrance area, circling around his feet as he first goes to greet her and then wheels the tree into the apartment. 

after placating meong-meong by throwing her favorite ball around, he’s able to carefully place the pine tree down beside the bags of decor they had bought.

when jino had first decided to decorate for christmas, he had promised himself to keep it simple. it would be his first time doing it, as last year he had spent it at his relatives’ home and his grandmother wasn’t too well-versed with their new zealand christmas traditions as they all had been growing up. 

but this year, jino had wanted to make his own traditions regarding the holiday. 

that included stockings for him, moo and meong-meong; decorating the tree; and best of all, milk and cookies for santa (even if jino knew santa didn’t exist). 

the clip cuts to jino finishing up his decorations with the final touch of the star on top of the tree — a plausible feat considering jino had gotten a tree that was barely an inch or two from the crown of his head; with just a tippy toe and a strained arm, the star was lit and gleaming prettily from above the tree.

pulling the side table from one of the arm chairs, he angles it closer to the tree, showing the camera what he had placed a figurine with a chocolate labrador resembling meong-meong wearing a santa hat seated next to a tree. beside the figurine was a plate of cookies (pet-friendly aka all-natural dog cookies that he had picked up from the local pet shop) and a note for santa reading:

milk and cookies for santa (and meong-meong), merry xmas!

small clip of jino wrapping presents and placing them underneath his tree. it’s from the coffee table: from there it shows the tree lit up in all its decorated splendor as jino fixes up the presents in front of it, all the gifts already hidden in their boxes, all they needed was to be wrapped, labeled and placed under the tree for him to deliver to their respective recipients. 

from the side, the camera can spy meong-meong on the couch gnawing at a yak chew.
