top 5 Rebelcaptain songs 🎶🌌
oh hi hello dear ebby <3
what a great question! one that i definitely did not agonize over. not at all. totally normal feelings over here.
in no particular order:
"Vine Solita" Natalia Lafourcade
En este mundo no entiendo la guerra La guerra de adentro de mí o de ti Llega la noche, apago la luz y en la oscuridad Sigo soñando con despertar, con despertar
(In this world I don't understand war The war within me or you The night comes, I turn off the light and in the dark I keep dreaming of waking up, of waking up)
2. "Die Young" Sylvan Esso
I had it all planned out before you met me Was gonna leave early and so swiftly Maybe in a fire or crash off a ravine People would weep, "How tragic, so early" I was gonna die young Now I gotta wait for you, honey
3. "All I Need" Radiohead
I am a moth Who just wants to share your light I'm just an insect Trying to get out of the night I stick with you Because there are no others
4. "Sparks" Coldplay
My heart is yours It's you that I hold on to Yeah, that's what I do And I know, I was wrong But I won't let you down Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah, I will, yes, I will
5. "Good Intentions Paving Company" Joanna Newsom
And I do hate to fold Right here, at the top of my game When I've been trying With my whole heart and soul To stay right here, in the right lane But it can make you feel over, and old (Lord, you know it's a shame) When I only want for you to pull over And hold me Till I can't remember my own name

been listening to a shit ton of the scary jokes recently so as a follow up to my whump song recommendation post, let me provide you some of my favorite lyrics from their songs.
“You stab at your prize, chiseling fear in her eyes
You know it sounds bad, but you love seeing her sad.
You love someone you can shape
who has no will to escape.”
“You’re just a monster with a BFA.
She wants to claw your eyes open
So you can see, she’s not a plaything.”
“You covet her warmth, like a wolf at a corpse
so it’s fair to assume, your intent’s to consume her.”
“So please don’t go away and leave me with nothing
I have no leverage so I feel no pleasure
If I can’t have you to myself, how can I be happy?
So please give me kisses, I won’t break my promises.
I can be a person if you give me the chance.”
“Can you feel me gnawing away at your heart?
And can you hear me when I scream?”
“Oh, can you see, you took over me?
You hijacked my mind, not that I want it back
I want you so bad, I know that it's sad
It's just how I deal, I can't help how I feel
Look I have no doors, I've torn through the walls
I've ripped up the floors, laid waste to it all
I burned up my body, now I have nobody
Can I have you and can you be everything I need?”
“I love you, I love you (I need you, I need you)
I love you, I love you (I need you, I need you)”
“I hear you're still living as an emotional vagrant
With bright red vacancy signs blaring in your eyes
Well my heart might be shot, but at least I've still got one”
“It must be hard to stay ahead of such deadly apathy
When you become bored so easily
And every new fixation feels like it'll fix everything”
“And they don’t go away, they just gnaw at you until the next soft-hearted sucker comes your way.”
“I imagine it’s quite nice for you
to have so many chances oh-so-many ways
to be redeemed
But as for me
I can only be forgiven if I’m giving myself up to you
on a silver serving tray.
Must I bear myself to the stabbing of your knife and gnashing teeth
While our lovely company appears so entertained?”
“I remain soft and accessible in the face of my own ending.”
“Into my sweetest fantasy
The one where you are crying
And I don’t do anything at all.”
“Icicles don’t soften when they die
they sharpen into sabers, and they stab you in the eye.”
“I’ll take the rocks out of my head
and you can sell them on the internet
to a paving company who
Will grind my brains into cement”
“I’ll be your highway, you can drive all over me.”
“If I can’t be a good friend, maybe I can be a good pavement.”
“You walk through walls, set off the smoke alarm
I feel your arms wrapping around me
your aura almost drowns me like a deadly perfume
Pink smoke”
“It smells so very strange, like grenadine and gasoline.”
(rosé coded im sorry this song is so so him it’s insane)

@therapardalis asked: "Where's my kiss? Or do the hounds get them all?"
Slender in frame but powerful in force, the newest hound for the Gondor army was a perfect one. None too old but not so young, an adorable wild female who was discovered rummaging through a turned over waste basket outside of the butcher's shop. Painted in the grime of war - what had been her breakfast of discarded goat leg - red and black along her jaw, nose turned pinker than was already natural. Presented before Boromir for judgement come later that day, the sweet creature was soon accepted into welcome and excited arms. Almost akin to the eagerness of a child, a boy who never got to have a real pet of his own, nothing outside of the kindness the elder men of the army allowed. Playmates but only for a short time then, finally could Boromir say he owned a dog. Watch her as she ran through the fields of Gondor - beyond the stone of Minas Tirith - from every corner of land, bounding to and from like a bolt of lightening, tongue out of her mouth and barks so happy, what sounded of laughter.
Not given a proper name yet, for there were many choices, such a sweet creature was remedy for the loneliness that burdened Boromir. Alone within the halls of his fathers, without the warmth and conversation of the woman he loved most. Above all others, his one and only, Thera returned to the purpose of her life, a calling beyond the familiarity of Gondor. As was her destiny, the reason for her being, the life of a healer and traveling mastermind never really finished. A passion that paved her road as was always meant to; though ever proud of her and hopeful, the heart within Boromir prayed for her return sooner rather than not. A selfish lover's desires; the pain that one would always have when the other was gone, how he missed his Thera so. She tasked with her responsibilities and he with his, never was their separation longer than either of them could handle, the companionship of a canine able to ease the sadness that was left.
Fingers and mouth along her sun-kissed peach fur, gentle caress and similar fashion of kisses, Boromir and his hound sat beneath a tree. Sheltered in shadow and shade, enjoying the company of one another until the dinner bell rang, a little corner within the gardens. Listening to the calls of nature, the song of birds in love together, a feminine tease drew Boromir's entire senses. Bright, the voice he had dreamed of since she first said her goodbyes, the face he thanked the heavens for every night before bed; his Thera come home to him.
Rising from his position, softly did Boromir encourage his dog to remove herself from his lap. Gently patted her hindlegs, ran a hand over her back and tail for good measure, urged her onward and back to the coolness of the grass beside them. Smiling as he embraced her, a laugh so pure, Thera was pulled close to Boromir. Arms around her waist, her scent breathed in, the warmth of her body against his own so perfect.
"How could I ever forget about you?"
Unable to wait for her to say more, Boromir kissed Thera. Deeply - so much time between them passed - a hunger that needed to be satisfied, ambition that could finally come realized. Another kiss taken, a little moan in the back of his throat, Boromir savored.
"Oh, my darling." Boromir sighed with smile, once he pulled away. "I have missed you. Come, you must tell me everything! I want to hear about all your travels. You must meet my new friend, also! I have told her so much about you. My love, my Thera, cook has made your favorite for dinner tonight. Tonight, we shall celebrate your safe return home."
Hold moved from her waist to her face, two hands held her between them, as if she were all he could see. Would ever wish to see; a small black box held his truest intentions. Nestled in the flower bouquet made for Thera - stood in a vase on the table in the dining hall - herbs and useable flora, practical and pretty, much like her. Black satin, a cushion placed inside, a red pillow for a band crafted of silver, crested in small diamond, surrounded by the stones of her birthdate. No moment better, Boromir would ask her. Make her his, in all the ways that he could, driven by love and a pleasant sort of madness, his love for Thera never to be doubted. If she would have him, he would be her dutiful husband. If she said yes, he would be the happiest man ever known to the lands of Middle Earth.
"Thera..." Boromir said, the expression on his face peaceful, so content. "Have I mentioned that I love you? Well, I do. I really, really love you. Always. Now, let's sit and talk. We have much to talk about, don't we?"
#therapardalis#Verse \\ Epilogue Verse#(( I love them and seriously don't know what I would do without these two#(( They're SO in love!

FOX TALES: LUFFY x OC (plus Nico Robin)
!!! TRIGGER WARNING !!!
(cw: blood/gore, violence, self-harm, talk of Vasya's time in the spirit realm)
fox tales
(a/n: i will keep writing about my fox girl oc until it kills me)
Songs: "Good Intentions Paving Company" by Joanna Newsom
***
How does Vasya fight?
She is all feral, teeth and claws, scrabbling at the enemy's eyes, their throat, ripping at their jugular until she is bloody and covered in the dregs of her violence.
She is panting, standing with the guts of some unfortunate soul clutched in her fist. She slowly uncurls her fingers, letting the slop slide out of her palm and onto the ground. She bends over double, and vomits on top of it.
"Shit," she groans, stumbling to the ship, "That was messy."
***
Luffy strokes at your tails, counting them one by one. "Why d'ya have nine, foxy?"
You raise an eyebrow, "I used to have ten."
His face lights up. "Whoa, really?!"
"Yep," you say, nodding. You slide off the railing where you'd been perched. Your tails flick around Luffy's hands. You lean back on your elbows, staring at the setting sun. "But I had to cut something out of me, in order to turn mortal."
"Oh?" Nico Robin had joined you, sipping her tea as the three of you enjoy the orange-tinted sky before the sun sinks low into the horizon. It's become a nightly routine, for you three. It's when you share most of your stories, in fact.
"Yep!" You say again, swishing your tails around yourself. You stroke them, thoughtfully. Dappled grey. Summer is in full swing, now, and your tails are thin. Still fluffy (and unmanageable) but better than in winter. You hum.
"What'd you use?" Robin asks, tilting her gentle head. "I assume there are no knives, in the spirit realm."
"You're right," you meet her turquoise eyes. "I used my nails. And my teeth."
"Did it hurt?" Luffy asks quietly.
You laugh. Something broken, and bitter. "What d'ya think?"

Do you know any Joanna songs about nostalgia, fear of change, wanting to go back to the past?
I think you can definitely find a sense of nostalgia in some of her songs. Maybe not so much fear. I always found her quite bravely looking into past and future, even if it's laced with the unknown or some pain. The songs where her family and friends live or are alluded to in some way are probably the ones with longing sense of the past. 'Emily' can be a great example of that. Actually, all MEM album is quite full of this loving look into the past that can sometimes be painful too, maybe even a feeling of trepidation for some change too. HOOM is full of that sense too imo. 'Good Intentions Paving Company', 'In California', or 'Occident' evoke that in a way too I think. And Divers album is timeless in a way where past and future and feelings and stories about them and within them interact with each other.

You know what Itzy's good at? Growth. You know what I absolutely adored? Itzy's new album. You know what I will never shut up about and be happy to waffle a whole tumblr post that's really only for my enjoyment? A freakin Itzy album, so without further ado--
An album listen-through of Kill My Doubt, an absolute gem of an album
Bet on Me
youtube
My first reactions are here but I think everyone agreed when this was dropped-- woah. This truly set the tone for the whole debut of the album, with a firm stance on who the album was for, and the confidence Itzy was bringing into the comeback.
The song itself does poetic and emotional, but unlike Trust Me (Midzy), does it from a soundscape that's uniquely and wholly Itzy. It's an emotional bop that you put on to push through the end of your workout/beginning of your cooldown. The video itself was a return to the metaphorical coding of the members that hit so close to the reality mark, I couldn't help but drawing parallels between their individual mv plots and their struggles as individual artists.
Bet on Me is a jog through the fog, it's running beside a train and beating it, and it's being on the edge of tears but turning your headphones up to walk away from the pain with your chin up.
Cake
youtube
I knew this would be a summer bop. I was prepared for a summer comeback. And I was prepared for it to be fun, but oh man!
It's Nayeon's Pop for this summer! It's a crackhead version of Stray Kids' S-Class! It's fresh and fun and bursting like a bag of starbursts, skipping down a pastel paved sidewalk, playful and teasing in a riddle that explodes in confidence!
Sononically, Cake achieves what Sneakers failed-- it fills it's soundscape completely, and does not leave it's verses to fend for themselves. Everything is fun and interesting and moves with the intention of keeping your attention and keeping you on your toes. Like Stray Kids, they defend the NMixx switch up in the second verse, and do it rather seamlessly.
Speaking of Stray Kids (and we'll be speaking of them a lot here, sorry not sorry in advance) the music video itself pulled some plot parallels-- lightning in the alley, headphones while a monster attacks, crackhead background plot while the foreground switches between a fun and dark colorscape, with the sassiness of hip hop running through. I hope and think it's intentional, as fourth gen and the generation bordering fifth gen further separate, and maybe as JYP as a company ride on the publically high opinion of SKZ and use that to bring all groups under their company who lack direction in this new corner of kpop that's being carved out, but maybe it isn't intentional, and even then (to me at least) that's pretty cool.
Now, I'm giving this more words because it's the title, and as a title, it speaks a lot for the albuma and direction of the group and I think it's important to notice: Cake is the end of a trilogy (more on this at the end). Sneakers to Cheshire to Cake has been a rediscovery of confidence, not just from their last trilogy, but within the three songs themselves. Just as they did in Wannabe, this song brings them to a peak of fun not giving a damn in that confidence arc.
And it's so fun and catchy! (Can confirm, will randomly start going CAKE CAKE CAKE CAKE CAKE XP)
None of My Business
youtube
I have done /such/ an extensive dissection of this after my first listen, so I'll just leave that here if you want to enjoy.
This is such an easy listen, and there's a raw vocal edge to it, like they're simply monologuing and we get to listen in. It's the lazy feeling of being too tired from the heat to do anything, but happy that it's summer and there's nothing to do anyway but be tired and happy with it.
The video itself is a hazy dream-like flush, with an edge of tipping into womanhood and all the icky edges of it that will come (...along with that green lighting on the bridge, very kard icky XD). It's a stepping off the student sheltered tent and dipping your toes into adulthood, while still relishing every last minute of teenagehood. A hint of childishness that only hormonal teens could pull off in pettiness, all with a ribbon thrown in the air, carefreeness in a warm summer wind.
Bratty
Freaky from their Cheshire album steps into the ocean, with it's bubbling, easy-riding waves. It's bobbing on tubes, losing the beach in the horizon, playing games in a lost cove, sticking tongues and running away from adults that try to end summer, and being unapologetic in enjoying childhood.
This song feels somewhere between the Checkmate album, in revisiting their older fun, bouncing sound with a more developed and mature vocal sound. It's a good song to chill out to without falling asleep.
Psychic Lover
This is a playfully tricksy sort of love song, with the Itzy twist of fun on it. The verses have this enticing drawing in to some mature romance, only to build up to a chorus that's full western pop, of grabbing you by the wrist and pulling you down a kid's slide in bright saturated colors, like they know we both aren't ready for that regal, diamond-studded romance we thought we wanted.
A proper hats off to @the-sunshine-dragon for recognizing the intro and instrumental motif that's sampled is from the beginning Enya's Orinoco Flow possibly (slow it down a bit, to like x0.75ish, it's pretty cool~!)
This song has a quintessential kpop weight to it, with the full-bodied color of reality in the depth of the vocals that are balanced and tempered with fun.
Kill Shot
Mafia in the Morning grew up, joined covert ops, and comes for your throat.
Absolute hit, a complete sniper that rapid shoots itself to the wall. Vocals toy the edge of lazy cockiness and powerful skill, Joker painted in childishness with a finger on the trigger and the barrel to the temple. Their voices are woven into a flawless team, the cohesiveness of five unique talents that have learned each others' strengths and weakness into a well-oiled assassin crew that's good at what they do when you step back and let them do what they do.
The pairing of this song with the nursery rhyme gives it the perfect edge of insanity, a slight stumble in it's perfect edge that pairs a maturing group with it's roots. It's golden, and a powerful end to the album, almost a threat tapered into a taunt to dare and try come for their image again and see what happens.
Some final notes and ending remarks: there's nothing that sells an album more than a group itself absolutely having a blast and adoring the art of what they do, and this era has been topped to the brim of the members having fun. I don't know what Lia's blonde hair, but all the crackheaded, goofy girl we see in hidden corners of their content has come to center stage. Yuna is a full-fledged idol personality (which yall made in telling her she's doing such and such wrong, so I better not hear another comment on how she's acting). Chaeryeong is out promoting in all her charm, and RYeji continue to be their viral scene-stopping selves, everyone get off my lawn, I'm a grandma absolutely enjoying what they do and I won't hear anyone whining about people doing what they love when they do it in such a fun and positive way. (...Enjoy what you like, and if you don't like, find something else, don't tell them to change.)
Itzy has been releasing music in trilogies, alternating between a powerful self-image concept and a powerful love concept. Their third album of each trilogy has been the culmination of the concept from introduction to end, with It'z Me, Crazy in Love, and now Kill My Doubt holding the most amount of songs of the trilogy and the widest exploration of sound scape.
I am so excited to see where they go next, as we possibly return to the love trilogy and experiment with new sounds and themes. (As I write this-- Japanese release?! {straps in for some more hype music] Second half of the year is always Itzy season yall~!)

Favorite Joanna Newsom song?
Her best has to be "Only Skin," which I wrote a little about here (video included at link). I also find endless depths in her tender battle-of-the-sexes epic, "Go Long."
Your beard is still blue With the loneliness of you mighty men With your jaws, and fists, and guitars, And pens, and your sugar lip But I've never been to the firepits with you mighty men
The Whitmanesque love song "Good Intentions Paving Company" isn't my favorite per se, but a few lines from it provide me the ultimate evocation of the state of mind in which art is made:
And in our quiet hour I feel I see everything And am in love With the hook Upon which everyone hangs
In case I'm suffering from a bias toward mere magnitude—I think "Only Skin" is her longest song, and "Go Long" and "Good Intentions" are also lengthy—I will also say that I love the early "Peach, Plum, Pear," which has the length, the structure, and even in a sense the customary theme of a traditional pop song: "You were knocking me down / With the palm of your eye."

joanna newsom entry guide: it took me a long time to enjoy joanna newsom and then all of a sudden i was like i need more of this!! i don't know about music so this is all just me rambling. it took me years before the dam broke so this list isn't necessarily 'listen to this and a day later you'll like Ys' but 'over time i eventually felt extremely differently about these songs than when i first heard them'
'81 (marika hackman cover): we are starting super gently with covers because that is how i first got into newsom. a short sweet song about forgiveness that feels like it turns its back on overthinking. i have no idea what '81 references. newsom was born in 1982. a running theme will be 'i'm not 100% sure what's going on here'. hackman's voice is incredibly clear and at ease.
peach plum pear (owen pallet cover): a plucky and sharp little song about desire. i love a lot of the lyrics, including 'and all sneezing darkly in the dimming divide'. i would listen with headphones especially to hear the little bumps and strings. owen keeps to the eeriness of the song while making it his own style.
easy: ok here we are. a brisk and breezy six minutes! the first song on have one on me. a haunting song that swings between fairytale imagery and hypnotically convincing a lover that the relationship will be both easy and at the expense of the (allegedly) self-sacrificing singer.
good intentions paving company: i have said multiple times that i love to sing along to this song in the car. that are lots of little yodeling notes and the rhythm does at times feel like bouncing up and down on a bumpy road. 'for the duUuUuUration' 'feeeEEEEEEeeling it drag' 'like i'm in a fFFISt fight with the fog' there are certain words that when you sing them you realize how fun it is to lean in to the squeak or the screech or the warbling of it. some sounds you don't appreciate till they come out of your own mouth. a lot of really lovely lines.
clam crab cockle cowrie: SAD! i will be honest i will sometimes listen to the first half of this song and then skip over the end because i love the first half so much. but in the right mood it knocks the breath out of me. some of the my favorite lyrics.
does not suffice: SAD 2! the last song on have one on me which has been pointed out as the ending result to the relationship in easy; 'everything that could remind you/of how easy/i was not.' a breakup song that is more resigned and forlorn than bitter or resentful.
sawdust and diamonds (ben sollee cover): hello i'm a fake fan and here's another cover. i heard this cover before the original song so i'm still biased towards it. we are now in the 10 minute zone. an existential song about the fear and dread of loving someone knowing that everyone dies eventually.
baby birch (optional): this song is optional because sometimes it makes me so sad that it can be hard to listen to. every part of it is achingly beautiful. subject matter is thinking about a baby that never existed, either through a miscarriage or abortion.
have one on me: 11 minutes, baby! a song that is from the point of view of the king of bavaria's mistress, the countess of lansfield, as she fled to california during 1848-1849 german revolutions. i could not get into this song until recently and now i'm like oh yeah duh. mr daddy longs they are at it again can i see ya. normal music. and i will drink to your excellent health and your cruelty!
monkey and bear: a very fun fable of the creation of ursa major. this is a point where if you really like joanna's voice and instrument choices, you're into it. if you're not, then you're not. very clever and tricky wording, especially the multiple uses of bear/bare
in california: a good song but something about the way she sings 'but there is another... who is a little older' is so sweet and distinct that it stands out to me the most among all her vocals.
emily: sometimes you need to listen to a 12 minute song about joanna newsom's sister and imagery that made me convinced this song was about noah's ark but i realized i couldn't actually connect the dots. Ys, the album this song is from, is titled after a mythical city off the coast of Brittany that was swallowed by the sea.
i do not think i'm an expert on her: there's plenty of other songs by her that i haven't warmed up to or haven't really listened to. i think she has some of the most strange and wonderful lyrics around, which is why i originally got into covers of her music. and then i started to really appreciate the range of her music in general. bye!

"Have One On Me" and the Loves of Theseus
Theseus & Ariadne | Easy
No-one knows what is coming, or who will harvest what we have sown, or how I've been dulling, and dumbing, in the service of the heart alone...
"Easy" is about the narrator trying her hardest to love a man who will not bear his heart to her. She is desperate to be able to love him fully, but she cannot when he refuses vulnerability.
For Theseus and Ariadne, Theseus was much more open with her before he entered the labyrinth to battle the Minotaur. The two of them had quickly became friends, bonding over how they felt alienated from the world. She was willing to betray her father for him, by showing him a map of the nautilus shell shape of the labyrinth, and giving him a thread so he may find his way back.
After he came out of that battle, he was changed.
She wanted him to talk about what had occured, and why he suddenly become so distant, but he couldn't bring himself to open up to her. Having her with him soon began to scare him for reasons he did not know... he left her slumbering upon Naxos, alongside the sword of his father, the weapon he'd used to slay the bull with.
( To a lesser extent I associate Good Intentions Paving Company with them too)
Theseus & Hippolyta | Have One On Me
Helpless as a child, when you held me in your arms, and I knew that no other could ever love me as you loved. Love me as you loved. But help me! I'm leaving!
"Have One On Me" is loosely based on the life of Lola Montez, a "Spanish dancer" who the mistress of a king. The song itself deals with themes of alcoholism, and a need to be loved regardless of how unhealthy the relationship may be.
Hippolyta, Queen of the Amazons, was Theseus' first wife. They met while Theseus was joining his cousin Heracles on a journey in Anatolia (modern day Turkey). Hippolyta and Theseus had a lot in common! But... This is not necessarily a good thing!
Theseus was new to being king, and while he'd already done some great things, it didn't stop him for sometimes longing for the freedom of his youth. Hippolyta was much the same, and the two had a tendency to enable one another. They would shirk their duties to go off sailing, or hunting in the Athenian outskirts. They even both joined during the hunt of the Calydonian boar, though... during this hunt, Hippolyta was badly injured. This is what made Theseus realize they need to slow down, but despite it all Hippolyta did not want to. This created a rift in their relationship, and eventually Hippolyta and their young child.
Theseus & Phaedra | Go Long
Who made you this way? Who made you this way? Who is going to bear your beautiful children? Do you think you can just stop, when you're ready for a change? Who will take care of you when you're old and dying?
"Go Long" is a play on the myth of Bluebeard, a man who, in legend, took a new young wife, but warned her not to look into a certain room he kept locked away. The girl did look, and within it discovered the bodies of Bluebeard's previous wives. Her curiosity leads to her death as well.
Phaedra and Theseus have a complicated past. Phaedra is the older sister of Ariadne, who spent most of her life up until that point having to be a mother to her younger siblings, especially after Pasiphae was traumatized as badly as she was.
Phaedra grew up jealous of Ariadne, who saw the world thru rose tinted glasses and believed in love and heroism. Ariadne was more "beautiful" than Phaedra, too. And her beauty and naivety led to her having her heart broken, at least until Dionysus himself decided to love Ariadne, and her bitterness grew.
Phaedra and Theseus' marriage was arranged by her older brother, Deucalion. They did not love one another, not truly, but they learned to tolerate one another. They eventually had sons of their own, as well. Phaedra was content to simply continue in her loveless but content marriage... but Theseus had another son. Hippolytus had grown up into a brave and intelligent young man, who forsake romance in order to honor Artemis. He and Phaedra never got along, he rejected had as a stepmother and wanted nothing to do with her. His lack of respect infuriated Phaedra, and it eventually culminated in a huge fight between the two of them. This fight later led to Hippolyta's death, as well as Phaedra's own... and Theseus never again remarried in his mortal life.

papyrus, jasmine, orchid, aloe vera
papyrus ⇢ if you put your ‘on repeat’ playlist on shuffle, what’s the first song that comes up? what do you like about it / associate it with?
currently don't have a repeat playlist bc i can't find the charging cable for my mp3 player, but if i put the current car cd on shuffle i get..."i live to fall asleep" by the manic street preachers! i like pretty much everything about it - lifeblood has had a pretty mixed reception over the years, but the freaky sterility of the sound kind of appeals to me, especially on songs like this one, where it's that classic manics combo of really intensely sad lyrics that are at a remove, brought closer by james dean bradfield's sort of gentle delivery...very neat song.
jasmine ⇢ do you have a movie or book you loved but will never watch/read again?
i've been thinking about this for two days and can't think of anything! i feel like, if i love something, i will want to revisit it in some way - it's just how i love things. i will say that in the very particular case of the magicians tv show, i have never really been able to rewatch it for much besides fic research (world in the wall episode being the exception) - actually letting myself just enjoy it hasn't felt very possible or smart.
orchid ⇢ what’s a song you consider to be perfect?
maybe a little bit of a cop out, because who doesn't think this song is perfect? something that always strikes me about the whole album and this song in particular is that no matter how long it's been since i've heard it, i can sing nearly the whole thing by memory - every twist and turn just sticks with me.
aloe vera ⇢ what’s something (mundane) you really want to experience in life?
mundane is really killing me here. i'd like to go on a good date! and soon.
