I want to take a moment to thank an incredible YouTube channel, Wonsummernight. But first, let me explain why.
This story takes place about two years ago. It was summer of 2021. It was hot out and I was spending my days inside, laying lazily on my couch and listening to music on my earbuds. Then, one day, by coincidence, I stumbled across a song called Butter, by the band BTS.
At first, I was a bit hesitant to like it. I didn't know much about BTS or K-pop in general other than the fact that the fans were hated on relentlessly. But, I decided to push that thought to the side, and I listened to the song, on repeat, for a few days.
On June 28th, 2021, I watched the Butter music video for the first time. And the second time. And the third time. And the fifth time.
I was absolutely hooked. That one shot of Jungkook singing the chorus with his purple hair was enough to make me swoon, and swoon I did.
I showed my friends, but none of them saw what I saw.
So, I continued on my BTS journey by myself. I started digging deeper into the fandom. I began with learning about each member; their names, their roles in the group, etc. Then, I began watching compilations of funny moments.
I was obsessed, and I needed to share my obsession with someone, but I knew nobody would understand. So, I showed some of these videos to one of my very best friends: my mom. And, of course, being an extremely smart woman, she was immediately hooked as well. We basically became fans at the same time, laughing and crying and yelling together about these seven amazing men and how much we both loved them.
Then, about a week after I first joined the fandom, I stumbled across a video on YouTube, a type of video I had never seen before.
A Taekook video.
Intrigued, I clicked, and not knowing much about the boys at this time, I believed the video. Even though it was absolute garbage, I wasn't used to seeing anything like this, so I thought everything in the video was true, even though it obviously wasn't. My mom, however, didn't get it. She didn't even understand what shipping was or why people did it.
That was until one day, about a month later, when my mom stumbled across a video on her own YouTube home page.
A Jikook video.
She tried to show me, saying that she had never seen any two people more in love in her life. I was extremely against it at first, but since she was my mother I eventually gave in.
I still remember the feeling I got when I first watched that video. It was somehow a physical manifestation of what I was thinking. It was as if my body was yelling; oh shit, I was completely wrong.
I forgot about that video, as I'd watched so many others since, but today I remembered it.
youtube
This was the video that first got me into Jikook.
For the last two years, I've been on an emotional rollercoaster. Being a Jkkr can sure be stressful, but the small moments of joy are what make the shipping worth it. The small moments like watching videos like these.
I hope anyone reading this takes a moment to go and watch some of this channel's videos. It's been an intense day, and we all definitely need a break from the drama.
And last but not least I want to thank two people: Wonsummernight, and my mom. The two people who helped me get into Jikook. I am extremely grateful to both of you.
❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️☀️🌙

Episode 5: WELCOME!
Beyond the Star, produced by HYBE Media Studio
BTS continues to break records with Butter and Permission to Dance.
Whereas Dynamite was intended to be a feel good song for the fans during trying times, Butter was a little more intentional. BTS did not think they would release another single after Dynamite and the BE album but the pandemic was wearing on so out of many songs that they were sent to consider, they chose Butter. Namjoon rewrote most of the rap and the rest, as we keep saying, is history.
Butter broke Dynamite's Youtube premiere record of peak concurrent viewers with 3.9 million as well as other viewer number records.
Butter debuted at #1 on the BBHot100 and charted at #1 for 10 non-consecutive weeks. "Smooth like butter" became the catch-phrase of the summer of 2021.
Tumblr media
And FINALLY, BTS heads to Los Angeles at the end of November 2021 for their first performances with a live audience. The world is still trying to emerge from all the covid restrictions but this is their chance. The U.S. has opened the doors and they go for it.
They will be one of the first artists to perform at the brand new SoFi stadium.
They are going to give it their all because things are still uncertain. Performing concerts with live audiences, being able to perform physically after such a long break and the fear or dread of NOT being able to perform again with an audience was the biggest thing weighing on them. Yoongi seemed optimistic and Namjoon said he hoped so but was afraid of having his feelings hurt again.
They realize their bodies are aging and that before the pandemic, as we know, they were driving their bodies into the ground physically with their grueling schedules.
It was 2 years between performances with a live audience – Love Yourself/Speak Yourself in Seoul, October 2019 to PTD LA, November 27, 2021.
Watching them prepare, as a group, for a major concert is awesome. These behind the scenes are very precious because they now know what it feels like to go through the motions of a live performance WITHOUT an audience.
The quality of their preparation and rehearsals increased. They had time to talk about the performance and production. They changed some things that they previously did during concerts. They said their energy levels were even higher than ever.
(PTD concert remix of Fire needs to be released this year. Just sayin.)
After they finally perform in front Army, they have mixed feelings. Relief, excitement, trepidation that this might be the last time. It was still a time when they didn't know if they'd get to perform again after PTD LA. One thing we learn is that they realized if they didn't get to perform once back in Seoul, that would be it for three years because of enlistment. Enlistment was the wall they faced every single day.
But as we know, the Seoul shows did go on in March 2022 and the Las Vegas shows in April and we also know how the rest of 2022 went.
We see them enjoying some free time in Los Angeles while in-between concerts, something they never got to do before. I think they made the free time a requirement when doing concerts. Their bodies needed to rest.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
We see them win AOTY at the AMAs.
It is more serendipity because Namjoon mentioned a little bit before in this episode that he'd thought about quitting until he realized they belonged on that stage and knew that's what had to happen. Jin says the previous 2 years were a time for them to reorganize themselves and they were able to release Dynamite, Butter, Permission to Dance and reach even more overseas fans and make their concerts even more exciting.
Tumblr media
Jungkook says they were not expecting to win AOTY at the AMAs. Winning Artist of the Year at the AMAs enabled them to view it as yet another door opening to their future.
Tumblr media
Holding sold out concerts in huge stadiums, performing at the top of their game, winning huge awards at western award shows, these things legitimized them being asked to represent their country at the UN and other global and international diplomatic conferences.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I know... they were asked to do this BEFORE they won the Artist of the Year at the AMAs, and BEFORE the PTD shows, and it is because of what they'd accomplished before those things, but it further drives the point home that BTS will continue in the future to be a big player in the music industry worldwide and they already know this.
Jungkook says they aren't sure what the future holds yet but ignoring what's happened is not an option.
Tumblr media
Tae says they want to remain the artists who impart a positive influence.
Tumblr media
They have finally realized what their purpose is and they are realizing the influence they wield.

Hi BPP
that fandom implosion you talked about previously, will happen sooner rather than later. JK is getting full on radio from day 1 apparently. On one hand wow, great, on the other, Like crazy could have and SHOULD have been the song of the summer.
There are so many moving parts beind the scenes, which we do not see that decide the kind of promo a song will get...Not negligible being the producer who is working with JK is a big deal in the industry,
anyway I would be very interested to read your take on this.
a radio DJ confirming the news https://twitter.com/JJRyanOnAir/status/1677384733989433344?s=20
***
Hi @atlantis315
Your link.
I’ve replied to your question here. Also copy-pasted the main gist of my views here:
“I think BangPD still fully values each and every member of BTS, and I don't think any member is being mistreated, abused, or grossly mismanaged. But BangPD is not their father, and his motivation to produce profit is more agnostic/cynical than a lot of ARMYs want to admit. But at the same time, you either trust BTS to handle their business as capable adults, or you don't. It's really that simple for me. More than anybody else, they know their own situation, and are certainly capable of handling themselves.”
*
Also, given that all D2C sales are now rendered moot for US charts, I’m very happy Jungkook’s song will be sent to radio, to make up for not having the tool that other releases have had to some degree. And it seems Scooter has a hand to do with that anyway, so while I find Scooter to be kind of a creep, I’m glad Seven gets the chance with radio to leave a mark of his own.
This doesn’t mean I think Like Crazy couldn’t have benefitted from being sent to radio. Without Scooter involved it’s unlikely to have gotten many spins (BTS with Dynamite/Butter peaked at ~80M AUD+ in radioplay, Miley Cyrus does 100M AUD+ on average with Flowers), but radio still would’ve been a boon for Jimin. Just as I think it would have been for Hobi, Joon, and the others. But also, a big part of me is okay with them not all having equal promotion tools. Not every solo release has had CDs, Tiny Desk performances, tours, festivals, remixes, multiple versions, and now radio. In Chapter 2, expecting them all to receive “equal treatment” in the outcome of promotion tools during their initial solo projects, isn’t something I think is worth losing sleep over. Because as I’ve said, I cannot want more for the rapline/Jimin/BTS’s career than BTS themselves, I cannot love them more than they love themselves, and I certainly don’t know more about their circumstances than they know themselves. If Jimin, Jungkook, Hobi, or anyone needs to handle BigHit because they believe their career is being mismanaged, they’re the last people who would hesitate to do something about it, especially at this point in their careers.
Also, far as I’m concerned, any member who gets achievements and records no matter how it compares to my biases, deserves it.
I agree with you that there’s a lot of moving parts behind the scenes. But. The hysteria over Ryan simply saying Seven is getting serviced to radio, (not even that it’s expected to impact radio - which is a very different thing), was due 100% to how fully solo and manti sentiment has permeated into the fandom. In my humble opinion. A few things fuelled the reaction to that announcement:
- First the chaos started as backlash from PJMs to the insults and ridicule Jimin suffered from other solos (JJKs, KTHs, MYGs, Blinks, Barbs, etc) when his promotion tools (mult versions/remixes etc) were announced, all while ARMYs pretended that abuse wasn’t happening to him or were oblivious to it. It would be infuriating for PJMs to see JJKs having access to a tool that in theory should make it easier to rack up achievements for the song.
- Then there’s the anger from many people who love Jimin and have had to deal with an unpredictable roll-out environment, between BB randomly deleting sales in the 10s of thousands (when for previous BTS releases they’ve only tried to delete a few thousand sales at most), and no immediate clarity from BigHit. Having radio as a tool would’ve made handling that disastrous handicap significantly less stressful for ARMYs, and overall would’ve helped Jimin. There’s a strong case for why BigHit should factor radio in for Jimin and other members especially now going forward, even if it might not be really played. But again, if they don’t, it’s not something I see as my personal wahala.
- The akgae theory of preferential treatment and company favourites for jikook has been almost fully absorbed not just in solo spaces, but also in ARMY spaces primarily through shippers - and that’s how it always happens. The reason taekookers are the only people alongside Tae solo stans claiming that Beyond The Story is a HYBE psyop, is because they’re the only groups of people who have drank the koolaid about Tae’s neglect at the hands BangPD for the other members’ benefit. A lot of jikookers now believe the same for Jimin, and PJMs hold that belief as a canon creed anyway. Which is a bit funny IMO when you hear how JJKs see the whole thing. Because the similarities in narratives are so uncanny lol.
- Nobody asked but I personally think BangPD is out of touch. He seems to have really fanciful ideas that sometimes make me wonder how solid is his grasp of the situation he’s in. He strikes me as a bit complacent, but again, that’s just me looking from the outside in and it’s ultimately BTS’s business to deal with their boss and manager of ~13 years. Not mine.
There’s a few more factors that influenced why shit blew up a couple days ago IMO, even before the song is released, but anyway, I saw your ask earlier but didn’t care to involve myself in the hysteria on Tumblr/Twitter right away. So please see the above as a summary of what I think if you’re still curious.
Like Crazy is still stable because a lot of ARMYs are streaming it. Solos and locals too, because it’s just a very good song that’s easy to listen to and catchy as hell. FACE is not the only solo project we’ll see in Jimin’s career. I doubt it’s even going to be a significantly defining album outside of being his debut. I need a lot of people to breathe deeply and think about what exactly is happening here in this team of seven men, not just in the universe of maknae-line narratives and myths.
Or you know, just do whatever you like. My opinion is unpopular, and so I think the implosion is pretty much on track for 2024. Hopefully I’m very wrong lol.

June 18, 2023
June 18, 2023: Tae and Jungkook both are captured on film wearing the same shirt. It’s an ERL- White 'Kappa Sweetheart' T-Shirt. Tae wears the shirt during his personal time, when he attends Bruno Mars’ concert on June 18, 2023 with Wooga (it’s interesting he wore it on a day when he’d be publicly spotted wearing it, which indicates a statement and wanting to be linked to Jungkook wearing it). Jk wears the shirt while filming his “Seven” MV in Los Angeles, when he was shooting his train scene.
Tumblr media
Remember, Jungkook had said if he wasn’t filming, he would’ve attended the concert.
Tumblr media
It’s a genderless shirt, and it’s good to also remember that Jk’s lines in “Seven” are gender neutral. It’s also telling that Jk said, “The lyrics of Seven mean you want to be with the person you love all the time. Like the title of the song, from Monday to Sunday. The willingness to be with the love of my life every day is shown in this passionate serenade.” No, Jk didn’t write this song, but it’s still quite telling he explained the song by saying “love of MY life” - indicating there is a lover in his life - and once again he kept it gender neutral when he described the summer pop song. All of this is quite notable. And on a personal note, I find it so sweet that they find ways to stay connected, even when one of them is in another country.

Jk in the “Seven” MV + HD photo from the Seven MV photo sketch -
Tumblr media
In the short film for “Seven”, we can better see the (matching) shirt. I love that Jk is filmed wearing it next to a “wish you were here?” poster while the lyrics “You know night after night, I'll be lovin' you for seven days…” plays. What’s also noteworthy is the jacket he’s wearing is Celine ( Tae is a BA for Celine ).
Tumblr media

The Celine jacket and gender neutral shirt -
Tumblr media
The shirt is now sold out but it can be bought (if restocked) here - https://www.ssense.com/en-us/women/product/erl/white-kappa-sweetheart-t-shirt/13087701?gbraid=0AAAAAD9ouUvO1YKNZfX6jcpw33IJNjfXi&gclid=EAIaIQobChMIxafd8caNgAMVay7UAR2KTA8PEAQYAiABEgLQnPD_BwE ; Credit to @peachesminty9 for finding the information
Jk also wore Celine necklaces in the MV. I especially love that he wore the padlock Celine necklace with the Kappa sweetheart shirt he and Tae both own🥰As a couple people brilliantly said, and I agree (this is my opinion) it’s like he’s saying “the keeper of my heart/safely locked you in my heart.” It’s quite loud IMO.
Tumblr media
This is speculative, but I still want to point out what others have noted. It seems like Tae was potentially hinting at Jk’s MV when he posted - as part of a series of photos he shared on his IG - the Molang Halloween candy keychain he was wearing after the Dream premier. It could be considered as a hint about the “Seven” MV because Jk (who’s emoji in the fandom is a bunny) pops out of a coffin in the MV, and the opening lyrics mention kissing a lover’s waist (in the photograph, the keychain dangles from Tae’s waist). I, personally, find this interesting, but please decide as you like.
Tumblr media
Also something fun to note (and not necessarily Taekook related) is Jk’s funeral suit was created by Tailorable, a company that makes good quality, bespoke clothes.
Tumblr media
Tailorable has a past with the group. This isn’t a comprehensive breakdown of all the times they’ve worn the brand, but this is a small summary. BTS wore Bespoke suits by Tailorable for their Butter performance at the AMAS 2021. They also wore their clothes for their cover on Time Magazine, and for their May 2022 visit to the White House.
Tumblr media
While the group, and other members individually, have utilized Tailorable for official projects, what I want to point out is Tae is a frequent commissioner for Tailorable’s custom outfits, as seen in these photos below. This link may not mean anything as far as Taekook goes since BTS have utilized Tailorable in group, and individual, official activities, but I found it interesting enough to highlight that Tae clearly is a big fan and wears their clothes for other, varied occasions (his personal time in Vegas, with Wooga, for his Veautiful Days folio which was BTS’ personalized concepts, etc). You can decide relevancy, if any. I can understand why some see a link between Taekook because 1) the Kappa Sweetheart shirt and Celine jacket have clear, definite links and 2) Tae is personally a big fan of the brand (so it can be insinuated he suggested them for Jk’s MV), but to be honest, I’m not really sure if the Tailorable suit is relevant. It could be stylist choice, coincidence, personal preference or suggested to Jk. What I find important is the shirt and jacket. Still, I still wanted to preserve the information (for some reason my gut is telling me to), disclaim it and you can decide.

Let’s keep doing our best to stream and support Jk’s artistry! If you need a playlist, here are some options: https://twitter.com/stream4taekook/status/1679751370017247232?s=46&t=StSwHjW0_Domk_lHUFMaCg

I just saw this on your blog about mimikoo and :
the honest to god truth is that these fucking jokers harass me for for being a 'jimin anti' while continuously droning on about how like crazy deserves more than seven
TRUE, because anyone with eyes and brain knows FACE is made by Jimin's blood sweat and tears and not just a song some producer given to him. More hardwork obviously deserves more appreciation and results. I thought we know it lol
is a better song than seven
Again, true. SEVEN is a pop summer song which is already abundant in both kpop and pop industry. While LC, is synth pop genre and its been few years since a syth pop music was made in mainstream kpop. Anyone can sing SEVEN while not everyone can sing LC, maybe not even JK, simple.
seven doesn't deserve a grammy
Ofcourse it doesn't deserve. Just like how BUTTER nor DYNA deserve a grammy. BTS has some of best songs which deserved grammy. If I have to say from solo releases WILDFLOWER or LC deserve a big award like that.
like crazy would have been more successful than seven
Isn't it obvious? Without any single push from his company, LC is still successful than SEVEN. It had more sales, more BB point than seven. Seven is getting current streams by combining 8+ versions while LC has 2. Seven is being maintained on BB chart with tons of remixes sales and radio along with spotify playlisting and streaming while Jimin only had streams from his fans and 2 remixes
jk wants bang pd and scooter to sabotage jimin
Now JK doesn't want to sabotage Jimin. BUT It's obvious af scooter wants to and bang pd selected JK to continue their BTS success. Jimin is easily ignored and even more sabogated in everyway.
jk wants to ditch enlisting - (BLAMING JUNGKOOK FOR SOMETHING HE DOESN'T EVEN DO, AS USUAL)
Not just JK, but all members want to ditch enlisting lol. Like who tf even want to go through compulsory enlistment? Joon openly said it isn't it ? No single member want to go there happily but have to go because of their country's rules. Idk what's the 'blame' op mentioned here tho.
don't celebrate seven because jimin is mistreated
Yep, even I didn't celebrated seven success coz why should I ? If success is brought then who tf will celebrate it ? Did even JK celebrated it properly? Lets be honest, everyone in Fandom and makes of song KNEW the results already. I was escastic when JK sand at FIFA and when he was most streamed soloist last year because he deserved it. But sorry I can't celebrate something which was already brought by money and influence. But I do listen to seven often, as it's a fun pop song.
AND NEVER GET CALLED A JK ANTI
None of the above feels like a JK ANTI to me as everything comes to a single point - SEVEN. It's people's choice what they want to support or not. I'm a JM stan and i didn't even streamed Angel pt 2 once, so I guess I'm a JM hater now according to mimikoo lmao. Just because their fav artist did it doesn't mean they want to support it. As long as no one is going around throwing hate at him, not overtly celebrating a payola song, yes it is, doesn't matter at all.
So user @mimikoolover can fuck off 🥺🥺🥺 no one cares about these stupid song record fights when she's literally throwing Jimin under the bus for his last live.
Publishing coz I love and agree with most of what u just said anon. 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾

favorite k-pop group tag game!!! thank you to @raplinenthusiasts @cosmicdreamgrl and @cordiallyfuturedwight for tagging me!!!
who is your favorite k-pop group?
bts. they were the first i fell in love with and they will always have that special place.
which member sparked your interest first?
jimin. i saw gif sets from the butter mv that @lauraperfectinsanity would reblog and i needed to immediately know who he was and why he was so beautiful.
who was your first bias?
joon
what makes them your current bias?
can i even articulate this in a way that does him justice??? probably not but i'll try!!! first of all have you you seen him??? just an absolutely beautiful human with dimples deeper than the ocean and a smile that melts my heart. but also he's the smartest kindest most thoughtful person. the lyrics that he writes and the words he says and the way he views the world and how honest and open he is about who he is and what he struggles with`and what's important to him and how he's also a clumsy disaster who breaks everything he touches :))))))
who is your bias wrecker?
jin. i may or may not leave my whole family for him someday. it doesn't matter that he would immediately shut me down and tell me to get professional help (he would not be wrong!!!)
which members are you currently obsessing over that aren't your bias/bias wrecker?
probably jimin. i still haven't figured out why he's so beautiful. more research is required.

Do you actually read privacy policies when signing up for new things? No, not really. The main thing I do privacy-wise is when I disable tracking whenever I download/sign up in a new app.
Did you have a lot of birthday parties when you were younger? if so, did you invite everyone in the class? I didn't. I wasn't popular and never had that many friends to warrant a birthday party. This is besides the fact that my birthday fell during the old summer season (March-June) so not only did I never get to throw a birthday party apart from my 7th; I also never got to experience being greeted by classmates hahaha.
Do you like when things are color coordinated? It's pleasant to the eyes but it's not like it's a mandatory for me.
Have you ever participated in one of those “guess how many jelly beans, mints, etc. are in this jar!” contest? if so, have you ever won? No. I've never come across those!
Do you think you would be good at memorizing lines if you were an actor or actress? If we're speaking strictly about memorization skills, yes. I have no interest in being an actress though. The task has always seemed so daunting to me.
Can you juggle? No, though I've tried to more times than I can count. It's just not meant for me, heheh.
Have you ever mistaken a ringing phone on tv or in a movie for your own? It has for sure happened. Sometimes I've heard a ringing phone thinking it's our landline, only to discover it was the neighbor's.
How often do you use bobby pins? Almost never. The last time I used them was probably during my college grad shoot to hold my hairdo together.
Have you ever used a pedometer? Not a separate one, no. I occasionally check my steps from my phone though.
Do you live on an avenue, road, drive or something else? Street.
Are your eyes a different color inside than they are outside? Nope.
What were you doing 45 min ago? I was finishing up some work so I can clear up my load tomorrow. Feeling proud of that :)
What will you be doing in 20 min? Either doing another one of this or preparing to go to Angela. It's her birthday today and she'll be at dinner with her family first, so I'm just waiting for her go-signal to tell me she's free so I can come over.
What did you do yesterday? Yesterday was a full-on rest day because I knew I had lots of work/personal errands to do today. That said, I watched The Emperor's New Groove, Toy Story 1, and Toy Story 2 while watching BTS and Seventeen stuff in between. 100% a lazy day.
Are you in a good mood right now? I wanna say 70% in a good mood? I did all the errands I told myself I absolutely had to do today and I'm stoked about that – and I'm also still seeing Angela and Hans tonight so I'm bound to have a great evening. The only thing that sucks is that the weekend is over again and I feel barely well-rested.
Who was the last person in your bedroom? My sister.
Are you listening to music, if so, what song? No, I have a Ryan Trahan video in the background.
What do you usually order from McDonald’s? Most frequently, a plain cheeseburger and barbecue fries. Other days when I find even that boring, I'll switch it up - usually either a Big Mac or fried chicken and rice.
What is your natural hair color? Black.
What was the last movie you watched? What’d you think of it? Toy Story 2. I love the entire franchise, but it's still nothing compared to the first movie.
What was the last thing you had to drink? Cookie butter coffee.
What are your school colors? Maroon and green.
Are you worried that you won’t be accepted into the college you want? It was definitely a worry I had, but I ended up passing.
What is the last class you failed? Continued from earlier this evening. A 40/100 in my Economics class in college. The only failing mark that sent me straight to laughing because of how ridiculous it was.
Has it snowed where you live yet? Or does it never snow? It does not snow here.
Have you ever taken a picture with Santa when you were little? I was only photographed with a Santa when I was 2.
What is the population of the city you live in? Close to a million.
When is the last time you were in a classroom? A few months ago. Andi took me through the law department.
Do you have any homework to be done? What is there to do? Work-wise, no; I did them a few hours ago already.
Did anything exciting happen today? Yes, I saw Angela and got to give her my birthday present. I gave her two Pandora charms and tbh the most exciting thing about it was her confirmation that I didn't get her any dupes (she collects charms in the first place). So YAY we don't need to replace either of them haha.
What color is the sky outside? Pitch black.
Do you own any clothing of your favorite color? Just a few. Purple isn't really my color.
How many tattoos do you want/have? Zero/none.
Do you use cup coasters? When it's available, yeah. When it's not, I don't mind not using one.
Are you on a laptop or desktop? Laptop.
Have you ever rolled down a steep, grassy hill for fun? No.
Do you like to draw very detailed drawings, or just stick figures? Stick. Or nothing at all. I can't daw.
Do you own a shirt that says “Vote for Pedro”? Nope.
Do you like Nerds candy? It's always tasted terrible to me. All the rich/popular kids snuck boxes of them in school all the time to flex and Nerds was one of the ways I learned they were all full of shit because it actually tastes horrible.

on repeat music

GET TO KNOW THE MUN.
Tumblr media
ᴡʜᴀᴛ ᴍᴀᴅᴇ ʏᴏᴜ ᴘɪᴄᴋ ᴜᴘ ᴛʜᴇ ᴄᴜʀʀᴇɴᴛ ᴍᴜꜱᴇ(ꜱ) ʏᴏᴜ ʜᴀᴠᴇ?
so way back in the day when I was rping on forums I was on this one vampire vs werewolf forum that probably had the very very first iteration of Bella? and then I came here and got my start with canons but I was picking the most obscure canons that were essentially OC's anyway. my first RPC OC here was actually not Bella but an acrobat named Wings, IIRC. All the others spiralled after that.
ɪꜱ ᴛʜᴇʀᴇ ᴀɴʏᴛʜɪɴɢ ʏᴏᴜ ᴅᴏɴ'ᴛ ʟɪᴋᴇ ᴛᴏ ᴡʀɪᴛᴇ?
listen. i am a soft bean. Anything with like, heavy angst, explicit horror, some physical fighting stuff is not really my cup of tea - partially because it's not my cup of tea to read so writing it doesn't come naturally to me
ɪꜱ ᴛʜᴇʀᴇ ᴀɴʏᴛʜɪɴɢ ʏᴏᴜ ʀᴇᴀʟʟʏ ᴇɴᴊᴏʏ ᴡʀɪᴛɪɴɢ?
i love anything that lets me explore my characters, whether that's backstory in a shipping/slice of life sense or exploring something new, in new verses or in different situations. I'm pretty open to most things tbh
ʜᴏᴡ ᴅᴏ ʏᴏᴜ ᴄᴏᴍᴇ ᴜᴘ ᴡɪᴛʜ ʜᴇᴀᴅᴄᴀɴᴏɴꜱ?
I don't make a lot of headcanons tbh? but a lot of them I think up early in the morning while my mind is just kind of drifting, or while driving
ᴅᴏ ʏᴏᴜ ᴡʀɪᴛᴇ ɪɴ ꜱɪʟᴇɴᴄᴇ ᴏʀ ᴅᴏ ʏᴏᴜ ᴘʟᴀʏ ᴍᴜꜱɪᴄ?
i am a big music girl - i do everything with music lmao.
ᴅᴏ ʏᴏᴜ ᴘʟᴀɴ ʏᴏᴜʀ ʀᴇᴘʟɪᴇꜱ ᴏʀ ᴡɪɴɢ ᴛʜᴇᴍ?
i would say 95% of the time I just wing it, which reflects my general preference in rp for going with the flow over hard and fast plotting. that said, quite often I will read a reply and think immediately "x character is going to do or say this in response to that" and obsess over that detail until I can write it down.
ᴅᴏ ʏᴏᴜ ᴇɴᴊᴏʏ ꜱʜɪᴘᴘɪɴɢ?
so much ! I don't necessarily go into every interaction expecting a ship but I do think there are some you can pick straight away as having insane chemistry and some that develop over time, even if you're not trying. of course, jumping straight into it is fun but I usually chat ooc about that first
ᴡʜᴀᴛ'ꜱ ʏᴏᴜʀ ᴀʟɪᴀꜱ/ɴᴀᴍᴇ?
brodie ! I never stuck to any sort of alias lmao
ᴀɢᴇ?
thirty
ʙɪʀᴛʜᴅᴀʏ?
6 August
ꜰᴀᴠᴏʀɪᴛᴇ ᴄᴏʟᴏʀ(ꜱ)?
pastels - butter yellow, baby pink, so on
ꜰᴀᴠᴏʀɪᴛᴇ ꜱᴏɴɢ(ꜱ)?
i rotate thru songs tbh. State of Me by Meghan Tonjes is always up there. Moon Trance by Lindsey Stirling. Save Me or Moon by BTS. Heartbeat by Nightcore was my top song of last year and North Star by Tyler Shaw the year before (it came 4th in 2023). So many honestly
ʟᴀꜱᴛ ᴍᴏᴠɪᴇ ʏᴏᴜ ᴡᴀᴛᴄʜᴇᴅ?
It was probably actually Knives Out with my dad like a fortnight ago but as I'm typing this I remember I watched the TSwift Eras movie since then but I'm not sure that counts cos I cried thru the whole thing
ʟᴀꜱᴛ ꜱʜᴏᴡ ʏᴏᴜ ᴡᴀᴛᴄʜᴇᴅ?
We've been watching Physical 100 s2 the last couple of nights
ʟᴀꜱᴛ ꜱᴏɴɢ ʏᴏᴜ ʟɪꜱᴛᴇɴᴇᴅ ᴛᴏ?
Twin Flame - Brennan Story
ꜰᴀᴠᴏʀɪᴛᴇ ꜰᴏᴏᴅ?
mash potato and gravy tbh
ꜰᴀᴠᴏʀɪᴛᴇ ꜱᴇᴀꜱᴏɴ?
i like autumn tbh, but becasue winter is too cold, summer is too hot, and spring has birds that swoop you and draw blood
ᴅᴏ ʏᴏᴜ ʜᴀᴠᴇ ᴀ ᴛᴜᴍʙʟʀ ʙᴇꜱᴛ ꜰʀɪᴇɴᴅ?
i'm going to say no. I have quite a number of dear friends that I've made through rp and who I hope I would continue to talk to if one or both of us left rp but I'm not going to pick just one lmao

tagged by @shineyma & @thestarfishdancer! thanks for thinking of me, friends!
name: Jan
pronouns: she/her
where do you call home: Southern California. I don't currently live there and the prospect of moving back there is growing more and more bleak as cost of living continues to rise every day but the thought of calling anywhere else home hurts too much. So, even if it's just in my dreams, SoCal will always be home to me.
favorite animal: If you know me, you know I love otters! 🦦 And cats but mostly otters.
cereal of choice: If I want a treat, I really like Reese Peanut Butter Cup and Cinnamon Toast Crunch but most of the time, a good granola cluster based cereal will make me happy.
visual, auditory, or kinesthetic learner: Mostly Kinesthetic but I do find that I enjoy group discussions, podcasts, audiobooks, and that I have a knack for languages, therefore I'm probably an Auditory learner as well.
first pet: My first pet that wasn't a family pet was a hamster named Chip.
favorite scent: So after getting Covid, my sense of smell has never been the same. I usually love all types of clean and fresh scented perfumes but I think my favorite scent used to be freshly washed sheets. And now, everything smell off or muted and I kinda feel like I am experiencing the world a little less. 😔
do you believe in astrology: I kinda hate to admit it, but I sorta do. Like, I am very aware that it's so unscientific and not based on any substantial research at all but it's also kinda fun to think about. Plus, there is a level of cultural elements of astrology that I subscribe to (especially Lunar Astrology) that influences how I view certain things about the world. All in good fun.
how many playlists on spotify/apple music: Oh so SO many. Never too many... always just the right amount of many. lols
sharpies or highlighters: I am a sucker for stationary of all types but pretty pastel highlighters make my knees weak.
songs that make you cry: "Home" by Micheal Buble. "Fix You" Coldplay. "Spring Day" by BTS. "When You Come Back Down" by Nickle Creek.
songs that make you happy: "Feels Like A Dream" by Emilee. "Spells" by Cannons. "Super Shy" NewJeans.
do you write/draw/create: My days of fanfic writing are so far and few between nowadays, my time being filled with only research papers and essays. This was literally the last thing I wrote in March of this year for a Genshin Impact fic I had rattling around in my head:
Clear skies greeted Eula as she stepped out from the front doors of the Kamisato estate and onto the courtyard. The grass beneath the lacquered sandals that Lady Ayaka had lent her glistened with the morning dew that sparkled upon the blades of pristine greenery that lined the perimeter of the outdoor seating area where the family often dined for meals. Kneading the shoulder that the Fatui agent shot at the day prior, Eula's bruised muscles protest under her firm fingers as they worked at the rawness there. She would literally shrug it off for the time being, though, as she took in the morning weather and breathed in a deep lungful of crisp Inazuman air. She smiled wide then; the scent of snow danced on the breeze, and not even a sore shoulder could dull her mood at the thought of winter approaching. As much as she enjoyed the warmth of southern islands offered in the summer,
And that's it... didn't even get to the good stuff I had planned. *sigh* Maybe someday I'll finish it...
tagging but no pressure: the usual suspects? You know it! @meghan84 @ilosttrackofthings @batsonthebrain @missbreephoenix @safelycapricious @doiloveyou-myohmy

BTS’ SUGA Returns as Agust D to Tackle Loneliness, Humanity & Being Acknowledged
Back under his solo moniker, SUGA is feeling two decades of songwriting and producing connect universally: "We're finally getting recognized as musicians."
Most famously known as SUGA from BTS — but also by the solo moniker Agust D, as well as birth name Min Yoongi — the artist who works as a rapper, singer, producer, dancer, fashion muse and NBA ambassador wants to remind listeners that, above all, he is a human.
Today, April 7, marks the return of Agust D, the name SUGA uses when releasing solo projects away from BTS, with the new single “People Pt.2” featuring K-pop superstar IU. Not only does it mark the duo’s latest collaboration after teaming for the No. 1 hit on Billboard‘s World Digital Song Sales chart “eight” from May 2020, it also acts as an extension from “People,” a fan-favorite cut from Agust D’s D-2 mixtape released that same month. While the original “People” saw SUGA reflecting on himself and meditating on how others judge and change, Part 2 longs for connection with others.
As multifaceted as SUGA’s world is, loneliness is a permanent source of inspiration and intrigue for the 30-year-old. Hours before “People Pt.2” drops worldwide, his call with Billboard occurs alongside multiple international teams who work around the clock for SUGA and BIGHIT MUSIC artists. Some are beside him physically, others via Zoom connection virtually — but loneliness remains a muse for the star, assisting him in searching within and speaking to listeners in larger, universal ways.
Since its debut, BTS’ musical appeal has reached globally largely through the septet’s extended metaphors and imagery, translating into accessible storytelling alongside boundary-pushing compositions and choreography. SUGA’s range of material is vast, after producing on essentially every BTS album, not to mention scoring high-profile collaborations with everyone from Halsey and Juice WRLD to Epik High and Japan’s ØMI. But now, he’s emphasizing the topics that move him personally — and ensuring he’s properly heard.
Despite an already packed spring and summer with album promo, his solo world tour, ambassadorship duties and a YouTube series, SUGA cheekily closes out our chat (“Yeah, it’s f–king busy,” he says with a wink) since he has no time to waste. Read on as he narrows in on the release of “People Pt.2” and all that’s led up to this reflective pop/hip-hop collaboration.
We’re hours away from the release of “People Pt.2,” your official return as Agust D for your D-Day album. Is there a different mindset when you prepare music as Agust D versus solo or as SUGA alongside BTS?
SUGA: They’re all music made by the person called Min Yoongi. So, I don’t actually have a very different mindset for each moniker — but I would say that the purposes could be somewhat different. Ultimately, the goal of releasing this music is for as many people to listen to my music as possible. So, “People Pt.2” was made thinking about how people will receive Agust D’s music, which is why we also featured IU. It’s kind of a trial to release this music under the name Agust D. I’m actually a little bit worried.
“People Pt.2” (featuring IU) of course follows up “People” from the D-2 mixtape. What was important about continuing this story with IU?
This is a story that you’ll personally love: The title wasn’t originally “People Pt.2.” Actually, “People” from D-2 is personally my favorite song — and we actually worked on “People Pt.2” three years ago. When I was releasing my pictorial [Photo-Folio Wholly or Whole Me] photo shoot, the company actually revealed the guide [demo] version and gave a glimpse of it to the public. But anyway, it was already finished when we were working on D-2 so I was thinking, “Oh, I should release this, I should release this.” But we had to get on with “Butter” and “Dynamite” so we didn’t get the chance.
Originally, the title was “Sara (사라),” without the “M (ㅁ)” consonant in Korean — because that’s, like, one consonant less than the word “saram (사람),” which is Korean for “people.” Depending on whichever consonant you put at the end of the word sara (사라), it can become “saram (사람)” and “people,” or it can become “sarang 사랑,” or “love” in Korean. So, it’s the listener’s choice to put which consonant you want at the end of “sara” (사라). But I had my friend listen to this son and people heard it as “sal-ah (살아)” which kind of means “live” in Korean and I was like, “This is not going to work.” So, we finalized the title to be “People” in the end.
And some people call me August D, some people call me Ah-gust D, but I’m actually Agust D. So, you know, people take my name differently and we had to sync the person SUGA and Agust D. This is a song that kind of matches that sync. We need that bridge and sync between my mixtape and this official solo album. In order to put that sync together, I had to make this a very pop song. We didn’t try to make the music video that intense — and, in that sense, IU really played an important role in doing that. I also think this is a genre that I can do best, this pop-focused song.
There’s this sync between songs, but the themes and lyrics are very different, right? “People” was self-reflective and examined other people’s judgments, but “People Pt.2” seems more about connection and fighting loneliness. What most differentiates the two in your mind?
In the past — and I’ve always said this in my interviews — personally, I think loneliness is being together in modern society. I always talk about loneliness in my interviews, but regretfully, it isn’t always in the final interview. Not only me, everyone has this loneliness inside them until the moment they die. However deep you are in a relationship, how much you engage with other people, how many friends you meet, or how often you meet with your family, you always have the loneliness inside.
So, I started with this keyword of “loneliness” three years ago, and I wouldn’t say there’s much difference in that everybody can feel pain and agonized. It’s the same with me. Whether it’s me from BTS, SUGA, Min Yoongi, or Agust D, I always have that inside me too. People might see me as someone who wouldn’t have any concerns or worries or that I don’t feel any agony, but I feel those emotions too. I’m trying to find a way to fight those and overcome those too.
This album doesn’t really finalize everything in its message either. So, there might be a possibility there could be a “Part 3” later on. For now, we’re just trying to say, “Let’s not hate each other. Let’s find a way.”
I like that — because even in the Road to D-Day documentary trailer, there’s a moment you say you frequently consider quitting music. But when people come together, it makes you realize you can do it and have fun. Does this tie into themes of “People Pt.2”?
This is kind of a difficult topic, because I started making music and writing lyrics [when] I was 11 or 12 years old. I’ve been making music for all these years, and now I’m 30. It wasn’t easy writing “People Pt.2,” and the album overall, but people really don’t know the whole process of that. Even though I’d been making music more than half of my life — and I’m just saying this because you understand this, Jeff — when we first started in the K-pop scene, we were in this ambiguous position of not being accepted as musicians and not being accepted as idols either. But the musicians close to me know that I’m very serious and sincere in music and that I’m a very natural person.
So, the documentary started as I just wanted to capture and show this process. It started with the purpose of showing SUGA as a producer and songwriter, but it kind of ended up having the worldview of an album-making process. I tried to show the normal, individual side of me as much as possible, but as I am a Korean idol, or K-idol, a lot of scenes were edited out; there were more of those natural scenes and some very good scenes that couldn’t make it in the final version. The documentary and “People Pt.2” try to reveal the natural side of the human Min Yoongi. I just wanted to show that I am this humane person. I am just a human.
You need to release your “Director’s Cut” one day. While D-Day and the documentary are coming, I want to congratulate you on the worldwide release of D-2 and Agust D this week. My favorite song, “Agust D” with the sample of “It’s a Man’s Man’s Man’s World,” was finally added to streaming too. You shared how J. Cole approved BTS’ “Born Singer” sample, what can you share about the process with James Brown‘s estate?
I released Agust D when I was still very young, so, even as I listen to it now, it kind of sounds immature — if you listen to the tone, the rap itself wasn’t very organized, I wanted to do a lot of things at that time. It just kind of keeps going very tightly and quickly. But after doing so much various and diverse music, I think that people love the songs that have been released more recently than the songs that were released back then. So, I kind of dare say that people are starting to recognize and acknowledge these songs now. Since the musician actually passed away, I think it was the family who decided to acknowledge it.
Same thing with [clearing] “Born Sinner” — and I don’t know what the path was for the musician themselves, but it was clear. And I take it as that I, as BTS, and Min Yoongi, and SUGA, and Agust D, was acknowledged as a musician. I’m really not thinking that broader consumers or audiences will accept it, because it’s not really popular music. Still, I would dare assume that it’s getting cleared because we’re finally getting recognized as musicians.

Hi BPP,
I how you are well.
I like you enough and feel safe enough to send this to you without the fear of getting crucified. Is Seven really a song worth of a Grammy? Like it's a pretty average song with multiple remixes. I personally didn't think Butter or Dynamite were worth a Grammy either. Maybe dynamite slightly because it was a shock to get a song like that from BTS plus a cultural reset of some sort but I feel the same way about them the way I feel about Seven. Generic song that could be passed as white people singing for generic radio if there wasn't noticeable accent. Plus the reason we have been able to stay on number one is because we have do many versions similar to what Dynamite and Butter had. It's not really a cultural reset of any sort. Now people might come at me and say I am an anti but I am not really. I feel like BTSs musical set standards are so bloody high. A song like Black Swan deserves a GRAMMY. Even a song like ON does but I don't know if I think their English songs do. The quality decreases a lot with their english releases. I found seven to be the worst out of those releases but PTD to me was equally as bad. I once apologise if I come across rude and antis but honestly, that's exactly how I feel. I hope I didn't anger you too much BPP.
***
You really shouldn't be so concerned about potentially pissing me off. For one thing I'm just a fan like you, what I'm saying is fair game to be picked apart if there's a better argument. And two, it takes a lot to actually piss me off. I'm not sensitive to seeing the members I like and BTS as a whole get dragged through filth because I know they're the real deal. Also don't take pointers for my opinions from k-pop stans on Twt/Tumblr in any case.
That said, I agree with you Seven is a garbage song compared to everything else we've gotten in Chapter 2. I said as much when I first talked about it.
Everybody can see what BigHit is going for here: a catchy summer pop tune to register enough in the wider American consciousness so the Academy sees a win for JK as the only reasonable option.
The mistake the suits in BigHit are making though, is that they've not first done the work to find out what will make a memorable mark in the American mainstream consciousness today. Is it a catchy, inoffensive, sugary song from another high-tenor male singer with his chest out and his pants saggy?
No.
People have made memes and compilations of that exact type of song. It's a working formula but, BigHit failed to note the sorts of artists that formula works for. For BTS, it's going to have to be something with more oomph. The problem for BTS is their fluency. They make sick music but converting that cadence and lyricism to English, can be difficult. Usually, this is where a good A&R guy would come in. Someone who has kept his fingers to the pulse to know what the public wants before they say it, someone who knows the people making the sort of engaging music BTS self-writes and produces. But so far that person has missed the mark.
Seven is a very well-made song. I actually stream it often for enjoyment now with the versions (Explicit, Band, and Festival mix), but American mainstream has heard a song exactly like it every year for something like 2 decades now. JK deserves better than that.
I'd have loved something grittier, maybe a song referencing cigarettes and blunts since he might be into that anyway. Like, JK can do angsty. We've seen him pour every emotion into those bunny eyes to steal hearts and attention. I wish they attempted something more daring than Seven for JK, though I understand why they ultimately chose it.
It'd be nice if they rethought their strategy IMO, because that's the only problem here. BTS have still got it. I just played, in order, RUN BTS, Dis-ease, FTMR, My Universe (Suga's remix) - all songs released in the middle of the PET, and they're all very good. Finding an English song with that spirit shouldn't be difficult for a skilled A&R agent. BigHit needs to get better bang for their buck.
The Grammys as an institution doesn't have the cache it used to. It very much is a local award, and my interest in continuing to know what goes on is tied only to the melodrama that is Bangtan's chances there. Plus a few other groups'. The Grammys are already so shit that if we're keeping it a buck, they deserve a song like Seven. Masterpieces like SMF Pt 2 and Change Pt 2 are beyond their range. That's music that's best heard in an arena, where you're surrounded by other fans and having the time of your life. That's not music you subject yourself to watching that stuffiness and ads marathons for.
Okay I'm rambling lol.
Anyway, Seven is what Jungkook got and he's done a phenomenal job with it. Opening a Tiktok account and using it to promote Seven was brilliant. His voice is very good on it and the choreo kinda slaps. So, not being a total grouch, I hope Jungkook gets some recognition. Seven has good chances and I hope it works out for him.
I'm not holding my breath though. If another group gets a nomination, I'm nearly certain they'll be winning it over JK. Just my little unpopular opinion.
I hope that regardless of what happens at the next Grammys, more ARMYs develop a firm apathy for anything related to it, regardless of whether results are positive or negative for BTS. This is getting to be a major drag when we should be focusing more and positively on the guys.
