Videos from the Sondheim on Sondheim concert in Los Angeles on 23 July 2017, where Jonathan plays Franklin Shepard from "Merrily We Roll Along" in two songs: 'Opening Doors' and 'Franklin Shepard Inc' with co-stars including Jesse Tyler Ferguson (as Charley), Ruthie Ann Miles and Vanessa Williams. Jesse Tyler Ferguson attended the New York Theatre Workshop production of Merrily on opening night and met the cast.

This clip got played in Sondheim on Sondheim, and it went "The lyric must be simple. *music cue*" And I was so delighted and bewildered, thinking it was going to lead into a performance of Simple. Strap in babes, we have a concert version of a fifteen minute fever dream ahead of us!

Beetlejuice/Leslie Kritzer Fan Project
Hi friends! My name is Madie and I’m a major fan of Leslie Kritzer, she wrote my tattoo even! I wanted to make a sort of farewell project for her to post on January 8th to say thank you and happy trails!
I don't use Tumblr really but figured I’d share this here too!
To anyone who is interested: make a 2-10 second (aprox) video saying something positive ( that can be as simple as congrats or thank you or more complex just whatever you are feeling!) the whole goal of this is to show Leslie how much we appreciate all that she’s done with Beetlejuice.
You can also send photos and fan art! (truly anything we just want to spread the love!)
Here’s my socials where it will be posted:
Insta: m.rwinningham
Twitter: Crumbleology
Also my email is: [email protected] (if you’d like to send a video there!)

My favorite thing about Sweeney Todd is that Sweeney gets into the killing-and-baking people business because he’s a deeply broken man destroyed by an unjust and corrupt system that cost him his freedom and family and has been driven mad by revenge.
And Mrs Lovett does it because somthin wrong with her <3

Little alien "birds", about the size of button quails. They speak with a very melodic cantor, the holes along their "neck" forming a sort of biological flute that can produce a wide range of sounds. Human speech tends to sound confusing and garbled to them unless it's musical; they're big fans of sensible human media like Andrew Lloyd Webber's Cats and Hamilton, though the really avant garde among them might even be into deep cuts like Glee and Phineas and Ferb

it’s very easy to tell the good satires and pastiches from the bad ones because the bad ones are too afraid to live within the form. like if you are doing work with fairy tales and you are refusing to look closer at the underlying logic and unspoken rules of what can seem at first to be a senseless form, you are not going to create meaningful work. to borrow a turn of phrase originally used by maria tatar, if you refuse to enter “the house of fairy tale” as anything more than a gawking tourist, you will miss the particular order to the way the table is set, the rooms that are locked vs the rooms that are simply difficult to enter, the set of the floorboards and the position of the furniture. whatever you build will then be a gilded imitation of how you believe the house of fairy tale ought to look, the table set according to your educated specifications and every door open. there can be no interrogation of themes from a writer who views the form as beneath them!
