Oz is dazed as Leo lures him into a magic circle drawn on the bridge that stops him from moving. Gilbert is able to pull him to safety out of the way of Jabberwock's attack, just as Pandora's guards come running to assist.

ah, well, Leo says, he was expecting them to show up eventually. As Jabberwock charges a blast of energy, its attack is suddenly interrupted as Gilbert summons Raven.

I just love Oz's stupid face there lmao

Alice runs to try and join the fight alongside Oz and Seaweed Head Gil, only to be stopped by Echo for a fight that does not pass the Bechdel Test. As she readies herself, Alice orders Oz not to use the Black Rabbit's powers, no matter what.

You're all flash and no bang, Vincent tells his master. He'll take things into his own hands instead.

The bridge they're fighting on suddenly crumbles, split in two by a powerful attack that separates Oz and Gil.

Gilbert calls out as he sees his master fall, but before he can figure a way across the gap, his attention is caught by a bullet whizzing past him.

Oz calls out to Gil and Alice from the edge of the ruined bridge. But as he gets to his feet, he's smacked off them again by a swipe of Jabberwock's powerful wings.

As he hits the ground, his pocket watch conveniently falls from his pocket. It pops open, playing its familiar melody, a tune that brings back memories for all of them, Oz, Jack, Glen, and Leo.

For Leo, it's the song that came to him in a flash of inspiration, that he had given to Elliot as a present. That Elliot had taken credit for when Humpty Dumpty helped ease the despair of his writer's block.

Suddenly, Leo turns and dashes off, a move that seems to confuse both Oz and Jabberwock. As he chases after him again, Oz wonders what's going on. If Leo had wanted to kill him, or throw him into Abyss, that would have been the perfect opportunity...

But we cut to a flashback one hour earlier instead.

Sharon Rainsworth pouts angrily as she asks why Break had never told her about his promise to the Will of the Abyss, or his real objective, before.

The connection between Glen and Leo, and between the Sewer Rat Vincent and the Headhunter, Pandora's actions... As Break lists all the pieces coming together, we get a brief flashback inside our flashback, revealing that Sharon has been watching Oz and Leo's conversation through her Chain.

As they wander off to look for the Duchess Rainsworth, we get yet another flashback in our flashback. This chapter's just chock full of em.

Break recalls a closed-door meeting with Duke Barma, Duchess Rainsworth, Sharon, and the hero trio a few days before.

Duke Barma doubles down, ordering them to give up on it. The Nightray house has been almost completely eliminated, and the key to their Abyss Gate was never found after the Duke's assassination. Pandora's offensive power is too slight to spread between two targets, it's better to concentrate their focus on the Stone right beneath their nose and try to make a preemptive strike.

That all makes sense, Break thinks as he and Sharon search for her grandmother.

So why does he keep hearing alarm bells ringing in his head.... ?
