made some adjustments to my "How many people could’ve died based on the in-game actions they've taken" list, now including some explanations from least to most possible kills. All based on my memory and sometimes looking in the dialogue files.

Starting with the "0 people could've died" tier we have Beffica, Cromdo, Triffany, Shelda, and Wiggle. Their in-game actions realistically wouldn't have lead to the death of anybody

With "1 person could've died" we have Filbo, Floofty, and Clumby. Filbo because he made The Journalist eat a strabby, something they're allergic to and they easily could've died from that. Floofty because they tried cutting their own head off. Clumby because she allowed The Journalist go to Snaktooth, fully expecting them to die there.

"2 people could've died" has Chandlo. You shouldn't try lifting an entire cabin with someone in it above your head.

"3 people could've died" with Wambus. 1. Filbo could've died of a concussion because he made that Bunger ram him into a tree across the map. 2. Threw Cromdo 31 feet as of last Tuesday. 3. Probably would've straight up killed Gramble after Liz n Egg went missing.

"5 people could've died" has Snorpy. While putting a hidden flash bang on someone's body that could be activated by a code word the person doesn't know isn't automatically lethal, as that person was on a raft with 4 other people and could've easily said that code word at any point during that ride on accident, that could disorient everyone and make everyone fall out of that raft and drown n die.

"9 people could've died" with Gramble. Hoarding the singular food source on a island from everyone because you don't want them to them is bad I Think.

"11 people could've died" has Eggabell and The Journalist. Eggabell cause she was the only doctor on the island and when she went missing everyone in town could've caught the worst disease on earth and died, and also the avalanche with Liz (which she didn't cause, but she was the reason why Liz went to try n save her n fell). The Journalist because the Bad Ending exists and they fell head first into a boulder.

And last, but not at all least, we have Elizabert Megafig with 14 to 15 possible deaths! As the Queen of Bugsnax, she could've lost her grip on the island for a moment and cause Everything Bad To Happen At Once. This one is ranged because it depends on whether or not Alegander's on the island at the time (he was shown to go back onto the island in that post credit dialogue scene)

It's me the timeline guy. Here are my many lore related grievances with the comic:

SPOILERS UNDER THE CUT tho most people have probably read it by now lol

FIRST OF ALL, the Administrator's plan. What happened to "plan so disturbing that several US senators pardoned her for the Poopy Joe incident?" What even was her plan actually was it just to keep the fighting going forever? Then what was the point of Australiummaxxing after Redmond and Blutarch died?

What's up with Zepheniah’s hooked up corpse. Isn't his ghost still around? He certainly is by the seventh scream fortress comic, which takes place during MvM. His will says he won't rest until he's done being mad at the world idk how that relates to anything.

OH HORSEMANN MY HORSEMANN. Why is Zepheniah claiming to be an only child? And it's not a retcon bc later on Soldier pulls up the family photo WITH SILAS IN IT. Where did he even get that. Anyways. The only explanation is either 1) some in-universe attempt by Zepheniah to write Silas out of history (implied by the two copies of the quarterly concern, one seen in a hidden page in the classless update and the other in the background of the Engineer update), or 2) ...i was going to say Silas was actually his cousin or something but that wouldn't make sense if the siblings of Zepheniah’s dad all died young. Urgh. I hoped the Horsemann would return and put to rest the implications dragged up by scream fortress two but alas twas not to be.

What's with the 3 different covers of a young Administrator? My theory is they're supposed to represent three possible backstories the writers were cooking and wouldn't commit to. Who knows.

CHARLES DARLING. The triplets' birth certificate claimed that their mother was a Darling (save me Bette Mann etc etc), and that had me convinced Charles was going to be at least RELEVANT. Why else would he, a joke antagonist introduced in the War! Comic, show up at all? Looking for Australium, no less? I tell you that flashback of him and Maxton had me CONVINCED something would happen. Especially with the two of them lowkey treating him like shit.

So so so much Admin stuff left unexplained. Seeing her child self in the Australium. The census dated back to 1850 with "HELEN" on it. Telling Engie "your family has already done so much for me". By that she could have just meanth Radigan making an immortality machine for Redmond as well as Blutarch I guess, but ??? I liked the Emily reference tho that was something one of the artists reffered to her as for the Engie Update Comic by mistake and later took back so neat callback lmao.

SPEAKING OF RADIGAN. Nothing on who the third Australium machine went to. Presumably Admin I guess? Not explained, never will be probably.

Who was the person in the torn Mann Family portrait? My main theory was always either an earlier version/design of Grey or a Darling, but in the picture Soldier shows (SERIOUSLY WHERE DID HE GET THAT) we can't even see the outline of a person around his thumb. It almost looks like they just made a version of the picture without anyone in the middle and called it a day.

TFI having other mercenary groups came out of fucking nowhere, even in comic six. The T and F presumably stand for "Team Fortress", fuck you mean "Team Citadel", "Team Vanguard", giant fucking statue of random epic looking mercs??? What is happening. They did NOT explain that shit at all. Multiple, seemingly incredibly competent teams are NOT "eighteen perfect idiots". Did Poopy Joe die for nothing.

One of the top posts I've ever made is the one where I point out the date Spy and Scout got arrested on that newspaper: September 7th, 1972. This means the rest of the comics should take place 5½ months later i.e. February/March 1973. Ergo, 1979 could not be "seven years later". The comics seem to think themselves that they're set in 1972 already, there's a few lines about it but for the life of me I can't remember. Something something however many years since Zepheniah died blah blah year the triplets were born. Whatever. It's on my timeline probably.

Smaller thing, but embarrassing lack of a full name reveal for Heavy (I originally said And Medic here but. Herbert Ludwig was revealed). Spy also, but I wasn't really expecting that. Heavy shall remain Mikhail "Mischa" Weponzgy in my heart.

SO IN CONCLUSION: the writers went in with no clue how to end the story, something made evident by the possibility of the 4chan leaks being an early script and also entirely fucking different.

Still, there were a lot of lore unrelated things I did enjoy: the fact that the mercs actually got a happy ending, for one thing. Sniper stealing a plane, Scout maturing and moving on from Pauling, Pyro literally just being overjoyed to see Engie again, babies!!! The fact we even got a comic! How crazy is that? At least we didn't have to wait another seven years.

I might draft a script for an alternate ending that tries to answer lore stuff more, but knowing me I wouldn't finish it. Still, I am working on making a website for my timeline and I'll upload the link here once I'm done with it. Oh and I'll update the doc version soon. Bitterly.

Endeavor sucks so here's a rant cause i've seen too many people say he isn't that bad lately

(CW / TW for abuse, ptsd mention) going in best order of episode events, but also including manga spoilers (sections are indented so you can skip the manga parts)-

this is pulling from source material but also very opinioned based. I get people saying he's an interesting character (kinda) but i hate seeing people excuse what he did because "aww he feels bad now." like him if you want but hating on other's for not liking him is just stupid.

it will also be long, but I have a lot of thoughts, hope at least some people agree with me lmao

i started typing this around when ch 390 came out so i know this has all been said before but with the new season coming out and like i said more people defending him i wanted to finally post this

"The Boy Born With Everything."

"That kid of mine will beat you some day, I'll make sure of it. That's why I created him."

Endeavor admitting he only had kids to be heroes, ones better than All Might, shows he does not truly care about his children. He only wanted them because he couldn't handle his failures. He sees them as a tool, not as his own kids, not as people. That's obvious in almost everything he says to and about Shoto.

And while I hate him, he isn’t a failure hero wise. He’s literally the # 2 hero out of however many hundreds there are. He’s simply mad he can’t beat AM? What is he a child who thinks he deserves everything he wants because he’s never been told no?

When Shouto finally used his fire Endeavor yelled about him finally realizing his “purpose.” More proof he sees his children, Shouto specifically, as tools. They aren't humans to him, they don't have their own feelings or goals, they are a means to an end. A means to his end. Shouto overcoming his own guilt (guilt caused by Endeavor) doesn’t matter to him. What matters is he now feels Shouto is worth something.

Class 1A vs 1B (i dont remember the exact episode names)

the flashback we get after Tokoyami talks to Shouto we hear Endeavor say, “Touya was close… Come on Shouto you’re the only one who can master this move.” Endeavor was putting the weight of his dead son's “failure” on the shoulder of his 5 (?) yr old kid. Making the kid who just lost his older sibling feel like he has to be better, or he could die too.

“Quit pretending to be weak.” Bro that is your very young kid. He is weak. Train him early, sure, whatever, but this is just abuse. You aren’t training him. Pushing your kid to the point of throwing up isn’t just training. It isn’t him being weak. It’s abuse.

I know this show is very flashback heavy in the first place but I really do interpret all the flashbacks Shouto gets of his dad as PTSD. Often times when fighting and in battle, after getting hit, he has memories of his dad. Sure, this could just be his motivation but I think it’s more than that.

"The Unforgiven."

"I thought if I saved you, that you might never say a word to me ever again." Aka Endeavor saying, "I should save my son, so he maybe likes me again." Natsuo my beloved. I love when he is an ass to his dad. His own son is saying he could never forgive him because why does he "need to be the one to make an active effort to change?" and that even though Endeavor wants to make up what does he think he can do now? Natsuo will always see his dad as the one who killed his older brother, and I don't blame him. Because that is who Endeavor is.

"He literally says in the episode he doesn't want forgiveness." And? He doesn't deserve it. He doesn't need to make Natsuo feel better for hating him when he has every right to after what his dad did to him and his entire family.

Sure, this episode is us seeing a "change" in Endeavor because he wants to be better, however, this is my post so I will say why I have a problem with this lmao. When did we see Endeavor start to change? After he became the number one hero. After he realized people were going to be looking at him even more.

The only good thing he does is realize that in order for his family to be happy he cannot be in the picture.

"Dabi's Dance"

Not including all the scenes I want to bc if I did, I'd just insert the entire ep lmao

"Oh, but he is changing. He regrets his actions." Why didn't he have regrets years ago when, to everyone's knowledge, his 13 yr old son had died? Endeavor didn't start feeling "guilty" until he became the number 1 hero. (as stated before)

And yes, we see and hear how upset Endeavor was over Touya’s death, but did he change? Did he stop being abusive and neglectful? Did he apologize and see his faults? Nope. So how bad did he really feel.

Dabi himself called him out on this during "Dabi’s Dance" when he said, “Is that why you finally decided to try to bond with your children? Keep looking toward the future and you can be a better man?"

On top of it all, Endeavor didn’t even step in to fight. Yes, he was shocked seeing his dead son in front of him again, but do you not think Shouto was shocked seeing his dead brother? He still fought.

Chapter 350

Many people say Dabi was born in the fire. However, that isn't true. Touya didn't die in that fire. He died and Dabi was born 3 years later when he went back home and had seemingly been forgotten about. He woke up in a strange place, covered in burns and sounding completely different. He wanted to go home. He wanted to apologize for all the awful things he said. He was told that he has been severely injured and once again that he was a failure. He was scared and alone. So, he goes home thinking he will be accepted with open arms, that maybe everything would be better, and everyone will celebrate yet he gets there, and his dad is still the same. Abusing his siblings and his mom is gone. Not only that but to Touya's POV, he has been replaced by his younger brother.

Plus does that not show you who Endeavor is as a person? That even after pushing his son to death he didn’t change.

"The Wrong Way to Put Out a Fire"

i won't include any clips or panels from this bc it is very intense and while this post will talk about it i still don't want to include those pictures

Going ahead and getting this out of the way because people love bringing it up for some reason, while what Rei did to Shouto was awful, obviously, it is not even close to being on the same level as the things Endeavor did to the entire Todofam. Rei was scared to look her own kids in the eyes because when she did, she saw Endeavor. She saw Endeavor's rage and feared for her safety, and in a moment of a clear panic attack and mental break defended herself, because look at Rei and tell me that woman doesn't have PTSD.

If the entirety of this ep didn't make you hate Endeavor and see he is incapable of change then idk what to tell you. Him convincing his very young child that his sole purpose is to be the next number 1 hero. He then finds out his kid physically won't be able to do that he tells him that he simply isn't good instead of sitting down and talking to him.

Buying Rei because he wanted to create his perfect child, then forcing her to be some baby machine. (Random fact that always haunts me is that Touya and Fuyumi were born in the same year.) Abusing Rei repeatedly. As well as, hitting her in front of the kids with a very young Shouto between them while the other two hide in a corner. Blaming Rei for Toya continuing to train when it is his own fault. Then on top of that, not going to Sekoto peak. He could have shown up for 2 seconds but no.

We also see another instance of Rei seeing Endeavor in her own kids when she tried to stop Toya from going and training like when Shouto came to check on her when he was little.

When Touya had a breakdown and tried to kill Shouto, instead of seeing the pain Toya was feeling and realizing his own mistakes, Endeavor just isolated Shouto from his siblings. Didn’t let him play with them, by what Natsuo said at dinner he monitored what he ate and when.

Also, I don’t wanna her “Dabi was insane from the start” after trying to kill Shouto. That was an abused child, turned neglected child, asking to be seen. Begging to be looked at. He, like Rei later on, snapped. He realized that if he wanted to be seen then the only one his dad cared about needed to be gone

Chapter 390.

Shouto finally shows up and brings Dabi down. Somehow Dabi is still alive and this is where he states that everyone, including him, should die. Endeavor then apologizes. Sure, he apologized, better late then never, whatever. However, it just really feels like he is speaking over Dabi. Dabi could be dying, could be saying his last words, and Endeavor starts talking. I will say I like how he acknowledges exactly what he did in some way. That he "pushed Rei past her breaking point", "put everything on Fuyumi's shoulders", and "abandoned Natsuo." It just all feels so empty and really doesn't mean anything with his entire family burned and scarred and Dabi lying on the ground, as well as Shouto passing out.

Endeavor’s “I’m sorry” only goes so far when his son is lying almost burned to death yelling for them all to die, Shouto over working himself to stop Dabi when even his dad couldn’t, and his non hero family standing on the battlefield as well.

In conclusion, Endeavor is an abuser. He pushed his 13 yr old son to death, pushed his wife past her breaking point then sent her away, neglected his other two children because they weren't what he wanted, and only felt bad after he achieved his dream. After he got everything he wanted despite it being built on a broken home and the victims he created along the way.

Like I said if you want to like him that's fine, but don't get mad at others when they don't like him. The Todoroki subplot hits home for a lot of people. It is a very serious and real situation. Take away the hero aspect and Endeavor is just another abuser in the world, something many people have been through.

This is NOT ORGANIZED lmao Literally just unfiltered thoughts and ideas, with some short writing snippets only sneaking in by accident. Literal brainrot stuff

Also some thoughts will absolutely be longer than others I wrote most of this in like 5 hours in one sitting

It will be in 8 parts. First the dorms, and then a final one for my thoughts on some side-characters' places in this AU

Basic Rules of the Vampire AU:

A vampire is unkillable until they turn someone. As such, vampires are rare, and usually created on accident.

Vampires can't die of starvation. They can sure try, and by god will it hurt, but it can't kill them.

Vampires can drink liquids that aren't blood, though they get no nutrients from it, but they cannot ingest food. If they try to eat normal food, they just throw it up, their bodies rejecting it entirely.

They can drink any blood that is not from another vampire.

Azul

During their time in the same class together, Azul slowly began to realize there was something…off, about his two friends' family.

Azul wanted to become a vampire to further his goal of world domination through capitalism. And what easier way to do that than if he's immortal? It was also slighlty because he just wanted to be anything but an octopus, too. So if anyone were to call him an octopus, he could counter with 'actually, I'm a vampire.'

In the Coral Sea, vampirism is even LESS common than up on land; in the sea, when someone eats someone else, there doesn't tend to be a whole lot left behind. And event though vampires can't eat their victims' flesh, scavengers tend to do that job for them when the victim has become too weak to really fight them off.

So in the sea, turning someone is always a conscious choice.

But with cannibalism also not being unheard of in the Coral Sea, the Octatrio are probably the ones who had the easiest time adjusting to being vampires. Sufficiently talented merfolk mages already usually live to be a bit older than humans and beastmen anyway, so immortality isn't as difficult for them to wrap their heads around.

While being less common, vampires are actually more common knowlegde in the sea due to the normalization of fish eating fish and merfolk eating merfolk. They're more of an 'open secret' type thing. But most land-dwellers think there are only vampires left in the sea, and none left on land.

As a mega-rich capitalist CEO with 200+ years of experience in business, Azul can just straight up pay people to donate their blood to his extensive collection of bottled blood. he could drink a whole bottle every day and not go hungry for at least the next 10 years.

Jade

The Leeches was something like a mixed vampire and human clan. Mafia, of course.

Some of their members were vampires, sure, but not all of them. How else would the clan keep getting new members who were still part of the bloodline, after all?

The twins themselves were mortals who were turned into vampires. Though surprisingly, at least to the other mortals around them, they seemed to not really care at first.

At least until Azul found out their family's secret, and proclaimed he wanted to become a vampire. They promised that, once all three of them had grown up and they had been turned into vampires, they would both turn Azul together.

They weren't really allowed to bring him into the family, but if they turned him, the rest of the Leech family would inherently trust him more.

Jade was also somewhat curious if he, as a merfolk vampire, would be able to drink the blood of vampires who had originally been human, beastman or fae. But he had enough of a sense of propriety not to test that theory until he got a willing test subject.

Floyd

Just like his brother, he was curious about if him originally being merfolk meant he'd be able to drink another non-merfolk's vampire's blood. But unlike his brother, he actually tried to test it out.

When they went on land and were invited to this gathering of lots of prominent vampires, he saw Riddle there— who'd come along with Cater— and tried to test the theory out, literally just going up to him and trying to take a big bite of his arm.

But given how Riddle was turned, this ended with Floyd being slapped in the face so hard that he fell to the ground. But this only made Floyd think Riddle was fun, and really interesting. This tiny little guy could beat him up? That was great! Super fun!

And thus he began to stalk and harass try to meet up with Riddle more often outside of meetings like that.

The one genuinely shocking thing about the UnitedHealthcare CEO getting his claims adjusted is how absolutely high on their own supply the mainstream media seems to be?

Like, yes, of course politicians are going to go on tv and slob on CEO knob to justify the corporate tax breaks, bail outs, and fine reductions. Doing these things is massively unpopular, so politicians have to justify their actions somehow, and it's still déclassé to just come out and say, "The company paid me $10,000 and took me to Ibiza for a week-long vacation in exchange for my vote to not investigate them for wiping an entire town off the map. Sorry, not sorry." It's a cynical bit of kabuki that's impossible to imagine them actually meaning.

And, yes, of course opinion pieces that companies have paid to run on sites and in papers are going to argue that the all-mighty Job Creators™ should be allowed to sneak into your houses and smother your children to death with their own pillows if they want. Their jobs are so stressful! So many people's livelihoods depend on them! It's the least we can do to let them hunt our pets for sport!

Like, these are PR flacks who honed their chops on internal releases trying to convince everyone that it's only fair for their Benevolent Overlords™ to get 10% of the peons' paychecks tithed directly into the CEO Handjob Fund because the CEO worked so hard to lay off 5% of the company instead of the mere 3% that The Market called for. first off, the mechs?? yeah, i know it's just product placement, and i've never actually liked the concept. in a world of mythology and magic, something to technological belongs in a sci-fi movie, not among gods. and in season 5 especially, they feel *so* out of place. the only people who end up actually using their mech are nezha (twice) and mei (once.) i can't be mad at mei, since yeah it's just one time to have an epic moment and goes away after that, but it's nezha that i'm mad about. that standoff at the festival? okay, product placement, epic moment, never brought up again. but then during the battle thing against the chaos guy??? he's the *only one* using a mech and it ticks me off. i wanna see the third lotus prince not the third lotuce mech!! i wanna see him being all badass with his staff and firewheels (like sealing off the jade emperor's power in s4)

i'm gonna be so honest, i only watched the season (and show) for nezha, as i tend to do to medias when i have a top unbeatable absolute favorite. and the show did not deliver.

basically i have futile, naive hopes for s6 - please, PLEASE give nezha focus that lasts longer than 1-2 scenes. it literally does not have to be angsty, nor big brother energy, not even a badass moment!! just make it mechless and put the camera on *him*, and i will die a happy woman. (another badass moment, in which he wins for once, would make me cry for joy. a big brother, to literally anybody, specifically red son or mk, would make shake and snarl like a feral animal. an angsty moment would make me force the world to be puppies and rainbows. a nezha episode would make me implode and take the world with it.)

bring back li jing and do it *right*. make nezha bring up their horrible past, and at that point, i'd even settle for a corny talk-it-out session with wise words and an issue that gets resolved way too quickly, though an epic fight scene would be preferable. angst not optional, because you can't tell me that interaction would end without tears and breakdowns on nezha's end. (at this point, i'll write it myself)

LET NEZHA WIN. i do not care what he fights, who he fights, when he fights, why he fights, how he fights, let him actually cop a win for once. this fearsome general who was entrusted with guarding the samadhi map, is a protector deity, and managed to singlehandedly contain the jade emperor's power has never won a single fight within his show screen time?? bull fucking shit i tell you. stop treating this guy who carried the end of s4 like some shit side character who never gets his way, and start treating the guy right.

Did start Yakuza 5 yesterday! I played for 6 hours, had a BLAST. Finished chapter 1 and got a good amount of time put into chapter 2. I enjoyed going around town, grinding and doing side content. Had to gather my thoughts so posts had to come later. Yes, this is a two-parter.

Some thoughts below! I made NOTES for myself on characters and such this time around. This post is gonna be more plot and character speculation-focused; the next post will be more about gameplay mechanics, side content, general thoughts etc.!

SO! We're in 2012. Two years, huh. Seems like everything has kinda gone the opposite way from my wishes after the end of Y4, especially in regards to Kiryu.. or should I say, Suzuki's character. I really wanna know what happened in these past years to make him run away like this. He seems MISERABLE!! I feel bad for him😭

Daigo infodumping to Kiryu about Tojo business while Kiryu was just trying to get his paycheck was kind of funny to me, not gonna lie. But also kind of sad. Kiryu seems to be trying even harder to cut off anything Tojo from his life, even as Daigo was trying to reach out. I'm so curious about this time skip era!! Give me the tea!!

Okay. I was kinda assuming Morning Glory was gonna be left behind or kind of in the background (based on Kiryu's outfit), but... Haruka as well, huh. That's. Yeah. And he (debatably) hasn't straight up just abandoned them 100%, he's putting SIGNIFICANT and harsh distance between himself and the people he cares for. Ouch. Feels eerily similar to what he did in Y0 with Nishiki, Kazama, Reina and Kashiwagi.

This is all very... drastic. Changing his name, moving away and leaving EVERYONE behind? Including Haruka? This is exactly the opposite of what Kiryu was vowing to himself, to Daigo and even to Saejima in a way back in Y4. Either the writers changed their minds about his arc or something is off. I'm dreading finding out which one it is. Currently I feel like he's either actively in major danger right now, and hence decided to resort to such measures, OR something happened that he blames himself for.

I love Nakajima. He's so good! In general as a person (at least it seems that way) AND to Kiryu. Which probably means he's gonna die. RIP in advance, King🫡🫡

This dynamic is either gonna be absolutely insufferable, or maybe kind of okay. I have no predictions on how this will turn out, I was completely wrong about Kiryu's possible character arc in this game so... idk. Kiryu has blindsided me. But for now I don't think this will become a romance.

What I find interesting is the tidbit Nakajima gave about the situation where Kiryu saved her, where Nakajima also met him for the first time - Kiryu was getting DESTROYED in a fight. Kiryu, destroyer of whole clans, the one-man army, getting his shit kicked in by random local yakuza? Was he trying to refrain from using any sort of violence (even in self-defence??), or... was he recovering from significant injuries he got before the fight?

Now, I'm just assuming, based on Mayumi's character profile section and Nakajima's description of the woman Kiryu saved (she was very pretty) that Mayumi IS the woman Kiryu was defending when Nakajima first met him. I'm quite sure it was her.

What I wouldn't give to hear his thoughts in this scene... I was very conflicted the whole time; on one hand I wanted to SHAKE Kiryu and side with the Tojo guys. Why abandon Daigo? I understand it's probably just so he doesn't get stuck in another Tojo mess, but... it's Daigo!! Come on!! But I can also see that Kiryu feels... guilty?? Conflicted?? There was a storm of EMOTIONS brewing in his eyes. What a mess. He clearly doesn't like the situation but he also really wants NOTHING to do with it.

Kinda off topic, but massive props to those two for taking Kiryu on so boldly despite knowing who he is (was? I have no idea). They are Tojo men, they've heard the stories. Yet, they still tried. The balls on these guys!!

As for the man of the hour... Daigo. MIA - conveniently right before this alliance (opposed by some important people) gets to fully come to fruition, as the current leader of the Kansai group is dying soon🤔

I feel as though Daigo knew something would happen. He sought Kiryu out and was quite insistent to talk to him. At the beginning of the game I found the lore dump he dropped on Kiryu's unwilling mind weird and almost amusing, but looking back on it now... it almost feels like he was giving Kiryu information he'd need to solve the case if he happened to go missing. He even named possible suspects.

Why not go to a trusted clan member? They'd probably throw a hissy fit and wanna call everything off, maybe even start a new, very bloody conflict. All just because Daigo suspected something might happen to himself. This whole situation stinks.

Current theory: one, or all three, of the Kansai leader hopefuls are in cahoots with the uhhh *checks notes* Yahata(?) dude. The Yamagasa family captain. Why? To stop the alliance because they all hate the Tojo clan. They probably have Daigo locked up. Or maybe Daigo is dead already.

One final thing: was NOT thrilled to see "Part 1: Kiryu Kazuma" 😬 I was kinda hoping for a single-protag game, tbh 👉🏻👈🏻

Okay, hear me out! IF the other protag(s) is/are the Yakuza 4 lads, I'll be okay! But if there's a new guy (or, god forbid, 2 of them), I don't know if I'm gonna like that. I liked Y4 a lot, but it was also a lot to keep track of, and it felt like everyone got very little time in the spotlight - especially Kiryu and Saejima.

I'm almost suffering from... new protagonist fatigue after 4. I'm okay seeing many new side characters, but new playable characters with their own fighting styles that I have to learn, human relationships, backstories and motivations... Getting to know and to "bond with" another batch of new playable people seems like a very tiring task to get through at this point.

If we have 2+ protagonists, I want them to be from Y4 or earlier, because I already know them in a way and I'm not opposed to seeing more of them because it doesn't seem as overwhelming. I wanna see more of Saejima at least, if we HAVE to have alternating protagonists.

No but seriously: I think graphically to me, the only thing that needs updating is the fog, because in p4 golden (at least the non vita version) it's not as nice looking as the original. I'm kinda insane where I'm like I don't want them to change the models. I like how cutesy they look. I like the the talking sprites too like yeah they're goofy but they have a lot of charm. I know they're gonna update them anyway but I don't want the sprites to change too much because of that charm and also because if I can't see Adachi's derp face I'll die. Also if they make Adachi not ugly it will literally be the end times.

Gameplay wise I also don't think the dungeons from P4 are anything too terrible. I would like them to feel less of the same thing over and over again you know? Like maybe more puzzles like the stuff in Void Quest, Secret Lab, and Magatsu Inaba but with less backtracking. I know the default is to make it just like persona 5 but I don't know I want something like engaging with the dungeons. I think the battle system is fine as is (because I don't think they've changed it all that much). They can add those teamup/calvary attacks they had in Golden but with more combos for the teamups and make them more cinematic.

Also they should keep the social link system from Golden where you get moves as you level up. Especially with Rise and her persona because the shit you got from her SL was like. Saving my ass. And bring back Youthful Wind IDGAF!!!!!

Also also, because I was reminded of it: Keep skill cards. And fix fusion forecast because sometimes that shit just never worked for me LMAO. Also IDK if Persona 3 Reload had shuffle time but keep the shuffle time from P4G because the one from the original was like pulling teeth.

Really the only thing that I think truly needs fixing in 4 is story elements. Many other people have brought this up but p4 is dated as fuck. I think you can guess which character I'm referring to. But even minus him, sometimes (and this is more noticeable in golden exclusive scenes imo) the team feels a little mean to one another? Idk like they pick on Kanji (Yosuke especially) a little too much and while he does deserve it: Yosuke gets bullied too much despite doing a lot for team in terms of trips too. I don't think need to change every instance of Yosuke's lines like most people, but maybe make it less harsh. Most stuff is probably (hopefully) going to get a rewrite anyway but again this is Atlus we're talking about so wishful thinking.

Besides that there are four major story things I want changed:

1. Naoto's romance social link is straight up ass. Like someone in the studio writing that got retrograde amnesia while making it or something because it's so terrible. I also share this feeling about a lot romance social links with the girls on your team and I feel like they just need to redo the whole thing because it just doesn't work.

2. Just remove the camping scene. Obviously there are more instances of homophobia in P4 but this is the most egregious one and I literally cannot watch it any time I replay this game. Just remove it. We're done. You can rewrite it. It's fine. We've moved on as a society.

3. I know it's cope. I really in my heart I know it will not happen. But a man can dream for a Yosuke romance route. I can cope. Yosuke's romance with Yu would be a natural progression of his social link (not feeling like he belongs in Inaba and his self esteem issues stemming from that) and his insecurity. Sure, it doesn't explain away his homophobic remarks but internalized homophobia would be a good angle to explore. So I know Atlus isn't going to do that because they're not nearly good enough. Also I just want this to make persona 5 fans seethe.

4. The golden content is up in the air. Most likely costumes and the QoL improvements would come back but the golden exclusive scenes and the two social links are still a mystery. If they do come back just, make Marie interact with the cast more. There's a long period between Kubo and Naoto where nothing really happens and the game kinda drags so you could have an opportunity to have Marie bond with the cast more and have her feel less like a Mary Sue tsundere made to be Yus girlfriend and more like the actual character her social link makes her out to be.

Other than that: I want more character interactions with the Dojimas and Adachi. Idk. I like the the family dynamic with Yu and the Dojimas a lot and Adachi's their weirdo uncle that is just there. If they don't add his social link in the remaster this could be a nice substitute for letting you bond with Adachi a bit. Adachi is like the most important persona 4 character imo and letting the player interact with him kinda helps develop that bond more and also have the player learn more about Adachi even if some of it is an act.

I know it's a lot to ask for Atlus to write new shit for the remaster but I feel like P4's biggest weakness is these little story elements that snowball into the bigger issue of it being a game from 2008. We can be woke now Atlus it's fine.

Honestly, my biggest hope for Persona 4 remake is that they don't put the hollow forest and accomplice ending behind a paywall like they did with episode Aigis. They probably won't (because lbr who would buy it) but Atlus has biblical greed so we will see.

I also hope this remake will make people finally shut up about this game. Like I hope this game is woke as fuck so the people who discourse about it or have told me they'll never give it a chance while shit talking it will finally shut the hell up. I just want to grill for GOD SAKES!!!!

Also add Adajima plot relevant sex cutscene or I'm not buying it.

reading it in official English translation for the first time and really have no idea if it's good or not lol (I've been translating MHA for 5 years straight and official English translation from the same company fucking sucks)

chapter 1 is huge as hell, which is normal for Shonen Jump, mangaka needs to introduce the concept and characters and all yada yada

what I find really funny about Naruto is a lot of the stuff is written backwards (meaning, we have some stuff introduced early on, but then more shit is slapped on top) to the point that pre-Shippuden things directly contradict what is going to be stated later. Kishimoto most of the time gave approximately zero shit about things outright not making sense and, y'know, you gotta respect him for that, cause I don't have balls like that

(unfortunately when writing anything canon-compliant in Naruto you have be mindful of things being rewritten and outright not making sense💀)

Anyway enough yapping, very first page is already ripe with shit that is going to be retconneced later

Firstly, description of Kurama's abilities. Naruto's orange puppy certainly can not start tsunamis and landslides with just his tails, lmao, this is something closer to Ten-Tails. If the terrain allows it, sure, I can see him starting a landslide, but orange puppy isn't starting anything in the seas, he's got siblings with lesser number of tails for that haha.

Secondly, the entire second paragraph feels like a fever dream honestly. "Suffering people gathered the shinobi clans to fight this menace" = Konoha was founded as a way to stop the endless tiny conflicts between the shinobi clans living in the Land of Fire (why have small-scale conflicts between each other when you can have literal world wars with the guys from beyond the border lol, jk, I know Hashirama wanted a peaceful future for the kids, but ultimately hidden villages system solves none of the issues of the previous system besides "7 year olds die on the battlefields" because now we have "15 year olds die on the battlefields"), Kurama literally wanted nothing to do with humans (as far as we know) during the warring states period, he was literally frolicking in some meadows and eating weird twins from to-be Kumogakure, got captured by Uchiha "read some mossy stone that my clan carried for years for some reason and went totally delulu" Madara, was used to attack Konoha, got bitch slapped by Hashirama a few times before Mito stuffed him into her stomach. And people are surprised why is the orange puppy so evil most of the manga lmao. But anyway, the entire sentence also implies that Fourth Hokage had some sort of mega-epic showdown with the evil puppy... while in reality it was something closer to Konoha's nuke being stolen by a delusional angry fourteen year old and Minato had to simply recapture the nuke again.

I think only Iwa beats Konoha at having the most absurdly nepotistic system for Kage, because 3 out of 4 Tsuchikage are directly related to each other through blood and the one guy that isn't happens to be the teacher to Third.

Part of me almost hopes that Viren's story arc will end in a disproportionately cruel way, you know.

I'm just so tired of seeing a character doing one good thing before they die or trying to change before they die and instead of the audience taking that as purposeful ambiguity the discussion will center around if the character was "Redeemed".

But imagine if he was punished so harshly that even the Viren haters would feel bad for him. Now that would be interesting! I've seen some dark speculation around season 5 so I'm looking forward to seeing how the show will contextualise his arc.

I don't understand why "Redemption" is such a popular talking point when centering villains (ok I actually do. I'm looking at you, Zuko).

"Sin and Atonement" and "Redemption" are deeply Christian themes. I don't think those should be a universal frame of reference to all stories.

Yes, yes, this is more of a fandom problem, not a show problem. But if people want to see a bad character harshly punished for their crimes maybe they should get that for once. I don't really mind because I think Viren, while unlikeable, is a sympathetic character already. Of course I feel for a character even if they are "irredeemable". That's what stories are for.

I don't mean it's a completely useless way to look at art but it's just- I don't know- I'm bored? Especially YouTube commentators talk about redemption constantly instead of engaging with the themes that actually are there.

Sometimes villains can't even really make up for everything they have done, just like some people in real life. Viren has committed so many crimes- like how do you even fix that? However it'd still be interesting if he tried to change. That's what I'm here for. Like Viren and Claudia are not just an antagonistic counterforce to our heros but they have a lot of going on as unique characters.

Viren has his saviour complex and values domination over cooperation. Claudia is interesting because she's both the victim and the perpetrator. It's interesting how self-sufficient she is while being deeply emotionally codependent on Viren. She has a ton of agency as a physically (magically?) strong person but not a ton of agency as an independent, emotionally strong individual. Viren and Claudia love each other but it's isolating kind of love where they don't really have anyone else but each other (Terry is really trying to get in there. Like sorry Terry you don't know how fucked up these two are lmao).

No wonder it was so easy to Aaravos take Viren's place as an authority figure in Claudia's life after Viren died. Or at least that's what I took away from Lost Child short and TDP season 4 in general.

I still think about the first information we got outside Viren and Claudia's POV about Aaravos's mirror: Runaan's warning about "A Fate Worse Than Death".

This framing device sounds really important. I've been wondering how it'll play out eventually. Is it something about Viren losing his old life he worked so hard to build, or will he lose Claudia in some metaphorical or literal way? Is it something even more personal?

Personally, I'd love to see Viren live and change as a person. There are plenty of high-fantasy male characters like him who go through that kind of transformation: Guts from Berserk, Geralt of Rivia, Jaime from GoT, Ged the Wizard... You know, characters who realise that the things they value are unsustainable or even harmful to themselves and to people around them and even to the world as a whole. Or they realise that superficial things like status and power are unfulfilling and only serve status quo. There are some parallels to toxic masculinity/ hegemonic masculinity, too.

However, I think it'd be interesting if Viren's story will be a deeply tragic one. Anyway I'm here for this.

once again the cop out answer would defiently be when they were trapped in eternal nothingness for however long that would be. LOL. because theres nothing you really can be except vulnerable when the only other thing in existance is 1 other person...

but, i really do think the Actual Answer would be right after jaehuis breakdown... obviously before then they were already really flirty with each other + they obviously both knew the other person had Some Sort Of Issues (jaehui more than shua lmao...) but i dont think either of them realized just how much the other one meant to them until that point. like jaehui's break down happened because he saw shua hurt. of everyone in that room shua was the only one (jaehui included) completely unharmed by jaehui. when shua saw jaehui loose all rationality his first concern wasnt for himself or those around him but instead for jaehui. for the first time ever protecting people from a threat wasnt his first priority, it was protecting a threat (jaehui) from people...

so i think once they get out of there + finally have a moment of peace they just. sit there. and shua is of course the one to start talking first but jaehui isnt that far behind and they just completely lay everything out on the table. i dont think shua would have ever brought up being betrayed by sworn brothers until that night (though its pretty easy to infer) and in turn thats the first time jaehui ever admits (even to himself) that despite how much love he has for his master he still also resents him for forcing jaehui to grow up in that environment that was so obviously detrimental for him.

Pretty Fucking Small. i am imaging my old bedroom that was 10x10 ft sq and barely had room to fit a twin sized bed and desk in. and we will say that theyre trapped for a seemingly indefinite amount of time. and that at this point all of dog walk are bffs5ever (so post choijotchieshua threesome)

i think, at the beginning, both jaehui and shua wouldnt really mind that much. at least assuming that they were trapped bc idfk a doorknob fell off and not that they were magicked into an inescable room (they would be much less chill about this for i think very obvious reasons)

but they wouldnt mind that much AT FIRST. i fucking know shua and jotch would get in some completely pointless argument that samir would start goading on and jaehui would then join in on the goading after a few minutes. and i think this good atmosphere would last for a good while. i said indefinite amount of time earlier but to put a reference lets actually say theyre trapped for 24 hours i think they would all be in pretty good will for about 4 of those hours. jaehui can like conjure a couch for them to sit in and food if they get hungry and stuff so its Chill. but jaehuis social battery only lasts so long and as much he enjoys the bjs company. well!

i think hours like 5-8 shua is still going strong but jaehui is just slowly getting quieter and quieter til by the end of those 3 hours hes just like purley in the opposite corner of everyone else just staring off into space. hes so over it LOL. and not even 10 hours in to the preestablished 24 huh <3

alriiiight @seeinhindsight i thought long and hard and came up with a list idea for your reading and cheering up pleasure! one of my fav things in narratives is when the setting is inseparable from the story: it shapes it, it causes it, in some ways it is the story. or maybe, if we're lucky, the setting is almost a character itself.

so without further ado, here is A List Of Setting-Oriented Stories That I Love (in no particular order):

1) Here Today by Ann M. Martin: (Setting As Personhood and Protector) a gut-wrenching little middle-reader novel that has haunted me since i was 13 where a cul-de-sac full of weird outcast poor kids and their parents/neighbors are both harmed and held together by being from Witch Tree Lane. 10/10, have not stopped thinking about it for 20 years and upon reading it again in my 30s was happy to find that it holds up <3

2) IT by Stephen King: (The Horror of Setting) the novel and the movies are both really good, but when it comes to the setting aspect, the book wipes the floor with the movies. 1153 pages of how derry, maine eats people alive (sometimes literally), shapes them into what they were destined to be from the foundation of the world (for better or for worse), and creates the cycle of violence while also being the only way to break it. 9/10, mr. king, you and your cocaine are fucking crazy

3) Teen Wolf: (Setting As Villain) i'd be remiss not to put this on the list when it ruled my life for almost a decade, no? even in the batshittery that this show could be at times, you can't escape the fucking brilliance of beacon hills, california being a literal beacon for the supernatural, awoken by the heartfelt sacrifice of three kids that were willing to die to save their parents. god. if only jeff davis knew how to delve deep. we really could've had something there. 6/10, because s5 brings that shit wayyyy down

4) Outer Banks: (Setting As Motivation) i'm mostly drawing from season 1 since anything truly meaningful went out the window after that, BUT setting a treasure hunting story on an island where "you either have two jobs or two houses" is just. the best fucking decision they could've made. you see the stark contrast between Figure 8 and the rest of the island in the same light as the pogues do, informing their desperate (and sometimes bad) choices and rewarding these kids for not knowing when to quit. 10/10 for season 1, 5/10 as a whole

5) Low Tide: (Setting As Motivation 2.0) following up obx with this one because it's literally exactly the same thing lmao. once again teenagers, once again treasure hunting, once again a setting that breeds wealth inequality - in this case, a beach town where the rich swoop in for the summer and then get to leave, while the poor are stuck there forever, holding everything down. what can i say...when i like a theme, it'll always be the more the merrier. TWO CAKES, as they say. 7/10, thank you jaeden martell for my life

6) Feel The Beat: (Setting As Story Success) idk if that tagline makes sense, but i mean that if this cheesy little dance movie that i love with all of my stupid, sentimental, old lady heart was set anywhere other than Bootyass Nowhere, Wisconsin, it wouldn't have worked. sure, the same sort of plotline could play out, but it would be missing most of the heart, depth, realism, and casseroles that make it great. 10/10, no notes. and i really truly mean that.

7) Attack The Block: (Setting As Both Savior and Destroyer) this is a newer one (and it was on my last list lol) but it really fucking got me, guys. the backdrop of an alien invasion being a british housing estate where the people are already used to banding together against outside forces is a stroke of genius. and then the intersection of classism and racism and how they link up to punish the people that deserve it least...fuck. 8/10 as we established last time

8) Plan B: (America Is Hell) not a #deep and hard-hitting exploration of setting in any way, but a hard-hitting story so deeply american in nature that you can't really ever forget it during the entire runtime. it haunts the narrative at every single turn, from parties to pharmacies to rundown little dive bars and playgrounds after dark. the usa is its own special brand of Fucked and even our teen comedies can't escape it. 9/10, just because I Did Not Ask To See That Penis, Thanks

9) Tarzan: (Finding Yourself Through Setting) GENUINELY MY FAVORITE MOVIE OF ALL TIME! (and maybe where this whole Setting thing started for me? who knows.) just. the jungle as a place to get away from all the societal noise and expectations and rules and just learn to Be. to be and feel and love and make your own choices. and for once in the damn movie canon of the world, the heroine gets to stay! she gets to stay. she doesn't leave her happiness behind and even gets to keep her father, who stays with her too!! 10/10, god fucking bless my soul

9.5) also shoutout to The Legend Of Tarzan which is much, much different but a solid 8/10 because all tarzans are good tarzans :')

10) Joy Ride: (Setting As Suffocation) the vast majority of this horror/thriller movie happens either 1) inside a car or 2) inside a single hotel room and that makes it so much more terrifying. it really does feel suffocating and like there's nowhere to hide and no way to escape this angry faceless man growling at you over the radio. guh, i'm shuddering just thinking about it. 8/10, when will boys stop being so stupid
