OHHHHHH MY GOD KELSEY THIS WAS SO GOOD! Thank you for coming back to us when we needed you most🙏🏾
Going Under the Knife (Emily Sonnett x Kelley O'Hara x Reader)
Tumblr media
You knew surgery was a big deal, which is why you'd did your best to hide it from your teammates, particularly Emily Sonnett and Kelley O'Hara, two women who were currently dating and two women you were desperately in love with. However, a single phone call draws them to the hospital, and to your bedside, where everything changes.
Your heart clenched roughly in your chest, your anxiety spiking as the IV punctured your skin, resting within a vein that would be used to lull you to sleep so the surgery could begin.
You knew your teammates would be livid when they realized you’d hidden your injury from them, but if there was one thing you didn’t like, it was to be fussed over.
You’d assured them time and time again that the slight limp you developed after a rough tackle during the World Cup was nothing to worry about, that the grimace on your face when you walked was nothing, and that the groan when you pulled your cleat off was in relief and not excruciating pain.
You stare at the white ceiling above you, glancing at the empty seat resting at your bedside.
You knew you should’ve told someone, anyone, that you were about to face a four-hour surgery, but again, you didn’t want to be fretted over.
Despite that, you knew you should’ve told THEM specifically, knowing that once they found out you were in the hospital and hadn’t told them, they would be far from happy.
Kelley O’Hara and Emily Sonnett had been dating for well over a year and considering this had been the first actual holiday they had together, you didn’t want to intrude on that.
Your heart again clenches in your chest, the surgery the furthest thing from your mind when you think about the couple.
It didn’t take long for feelings to develop between you and the couple, the light caresses, and the flirty retorts making you fall harder and harder for the pair.
No matter how hard you fell, you knew that they would never be interested in you, how could they when they already had each other?
You’re pulled out of your thoughts by the sound of a clearing throat, your eyes widening when you see your doctor standing before you, the man wearing blue scrubs.
“Are you ready Ms. Y/L/N?” He asks and you inhale deeply, your eyes fluttering shut as you nod reluctantly.
“I’m ready.”
************************************************************************
Alex Morgan rolled her eyes playfully as Servando chased her daughter around the living room, Charlie giggling wildly as he caught her, swinging her up into the air and kissing her face over and over again.
Alex’s brows furrow when her phone, which was resting on the counter begins to ring, the woman making her way across the room to pick it up.
She hums at the sight of the unknown number stretched across the screen, a number starting with, what she knew, was the area code for Seattle, Washington.
She clears her throat before answering, ducking into the kitchen to escape the noisy living room.
“Hello?” She asks.
“Is this Alex Morgan?” The woman on the other end of the phone clearing her throat.
“Ye-Yes, this is her.”
“Hello Ms. Morgan, this is UV Medical Center, calling in regards to a patient of ours, Y/N...”
***********************************************************************
Considering you spent your early years on the Orlando Pride alongside Alex Morgan, she almost immediately took you under her wing, the woman becoming not only a mentor to you, but something akin to an older sister.
It was soon after that, that she became your emergency contact, the woman the only one you trusted to handle an emergency.
Thankfully for her, she had yet to receive a call concerning your health, unfortunately, this was the day everything changed.
The second she’d hung up with the receptionist she immediately called the first woman who came to mind, her longtime friend and teammate Kelley O’Hara, who she knew was in Seattle with Emily Sonnett.
“Hey Al, what’s--”
“Did you know Y/N was in the hospital?” Alex cuts her off, noting the hitch in Kelley’s breath.
“N-N-no, what happened?!” She asks anxiously, her voice quivering, her distress alerting the blonde who’d just made her way back from the bedroom and into the living room.
“What’s wrong?” She asks, Kelley waving a dismissive hand in her direction, the defender listening intently to the woman on the other end of the phone.
Without warning, Kelley leaps to her feet before rushing towards the door, stuffing her feet in her shoes before grabbing her jacket, the anchor holding her into place being Emily Sonnett, the woman’s hands resting on her back.
“Kel, what’s wrong?” She asks nervously, the woman turning towards her, her brown orbs wide.
“Y/N’s in the hospital, we have to go.”
And with that Emily too begins rushing to grab her things, the pair slamming the apartment door shut behind them as they rush to UV Medical Center, and to your side.
************************************************************************
Despite the fact that UV Medical Center was MASSIVE it didn’t take them long at all to find where you were, Kelley rattling off what Alex had relayed to her on the car ride to the hospital.
You’d gone under the knife for ankle surgery over 5 hours ago, the extent of the injury you’d entered surgery for becoming much more prominent the deeper the doctor’s dug beneath your skin, which eventually resulted in a call to your emergency contact, that being, Alex Morgan.
“While we’re here, we’re getting added to the Emergency Contact list.” Kelley had mumbled as they rushed through the hospital towards the waiting area outside of the surgery suite you were currently located in.
Seemingly, the receptionist knew who they were, considering the second they spoke their names, she’d waved someone over, that someone leading them out of the waiting room towards a nearby elevator.
“The surgery went on longer than we expected, there was more damage to the ankle than we anticipated.” He explains as the elevator doors slide shut.
“Is she awake?” Emily asks, the man shaking his head.
“We had to increase the amount of anesthesia we used, so we’re having a hard time getting her to wake up.”
Kelley turns to Emily nervously; the nervousness Kelley is feeling conveyed right back at her from Emily’s hazel orbs.
“Do you know how long it’ll take for her to wake up?” Kelley asks, her fingers tangling with Emily’s, the blonde giving her hand a squeeze.
“We don’t know.”
The second the elevator door opens the man is leading them down the hall and into a nearby room, that turns out to be a secluded waiting room, offering the pair privacy.
“We’ll inform you immediately when she wakes up and leaves the recovery room.” He smiles softly, leaving the pair in the empty room, a TV hanging in the corner playing softly as the pair sit side by side on a small couch.
"Do you think she’ll be okay?” Emily whispers, resting her head on Kelley’s shoulder, the woman taking her hand, giving it a squeeze.
“She will be.” She whispers, unwilling to put her anxiety and worriedness into words, choosing to remain hopeful for the sake of the blonde beside her.
************************************************************************
As the time ticked away, the anxiety and fear within both women began to grow, and after an hour had passed, that anxiety was near teeming over, that was until the door clicked open softly, the man from earlier giving them a small smile.
“Ms. Y/L/N is in her room; I’ll take you to her.” He smiles, the pair jumping to their feet and rushing down the hall behind him.
“She may be in and out, she’ll DEFINITELY be groggy thanks to her pain medication, but she’ll be back to herself in no time.”
It doesn’t take long for the pair to be ushered into a room, the two immediately zeroing in on your ankle, which hangs well above you, your ankle wrapped tightly in bandages.
Kelley glances at Emily, seeing her own concern written on her face, the two slowly making their way hand in hand to your bedside.
A soft whine draws their attention to your face, your face which is currently scrunched up as you tiredly survey your surroundings before your eyes again flutter shut.
Silently, the doctor makes his way out of the room, the door clicking shut softly behind him, the three of you now left in complete silence.
You hum, turning towards the two, your eyes remaining shut before you peek between your eyelids.
“They must’ve really given me the good shit if I’m hallucinating.” Your tired eyes darting from Kelley to Emily and back.
“I’ll call and tell you guys later.” You whisper tiredly, your eyes fluttering back shut.
“You don’t have to tell us anything Y/N, we’re right here.” Emily says, giving your hand a squeeze.
“Alex called us.” Kelley says, shaking her head when you start to sit up.
“Well, I better call her back then.” You grumble, glancing around the room, your eyes still shut as you search for your phone.
“Sit still Y/N.” Kelley whispers, placing her hand on your shoulder to hold you in place.
“But I have to call Alex, she called me.” You mumble, completely unaware that the woman had indeed NOT called you.
“No Y/N, she called us.” Emily says, unable to bite back a smile when you turn to her in confusion.
“She called me, she didn’t call you, you’re not real.” You slur, the older defender on the opposite side of the bed cupping your cheek.
“But we are real.”
You shake your head.
“No, Kelley and Emily are on holiday together, because they love each other, not me, they wouldn’t come visit me.”
Kelley and Emily share a glance, Emily tucking a strand of hair behind your ear.
“What do you mean Y/N?” She asks softly and you growl.
“Just what I said, they don’t love me, not like I love them.”
The pair stiffen, hearts stalling in their chests as the stare at one another in not only shock, but elation.
“What do--
Kelley’s cut off by a loud snore, the pair turning their attention back to you, realizing you’re again fast asleep.
Kelley gently caresses your cheek as Emily runs her fingers through your hair.
“Looks like we have a lot to talk about when you wake up, huh?” She whispers, ducking down to kiss your temple, Emily following suit moments later.
The blonde reaches across the bed, covering Kelley’s hand with her own, the pair sharing soft smiles before turning back to your sleeping form.
It didn’t take a genius to see that Kelley O’Hara and Emily Sonnett were absolutely smitten with Y/N Y/L/N, the moment they met.
The pair had been fearful when it came to their feelings for you, fearful it may end their relationship, but when they came to the realization that they both felt the same way about you, both had attempted to pursue you, something you were unfortunately not aware of.
However, with the sudden realization that you too felt the same, they knew everything was about to change.
“Do you think she meant it?” Emily whispers and Kelley smiles, glancing across the room at your sleeping form.
“I think she did, high mouths speak sober thoughts. I guess we’ll just have to ask her when she wakes up.” Kelley smiles, turning abruptly towards Emily when she sniffles.
“What if she didn’t mean it?” She asks, voice barely above a whisper.
Kelley cups her cheeks, resting for forehead against the younger woman’s before she presses a kiss to her lips.
“We’ll just cross that bridge if we come to it, okay?” She whispers, and Emily nods, the blonde unable to bite back a smile when Kelley kisses the tip of her nose.
“Okay.”
************************************************************************
It’s well into the afternoon that you begin to stir, pulling Kelley and Emily’s attention away from one another and onto you, the two leaning forwards in their seats, which they’d taken residence in beside your bed.
Your eyes crack open, your teeth clenching in pain, the overhead lights making your head throb.
Despite that, you keep them open, Y/E/C orbs darting from Kelley, to Emily and back.
“Wh-What are you guys doing here?” You ask, your voice rough and raw.
Kelley grabs a nearby cup and holds in to your lips, letting you take a greedy sip before she speaks.
“Alex called us.”
Your brows furrow.
“Alex?”
Kelley nods.
“The hospital called her, they found more damage to your ankle then they first thought, they wanted permission to continue the surgery.”
You hum, glancing sadly at your ankle, which is still hanging high off the bed.
“Looks like you’re going to have a lot of down time.” Emily smiles sadly, caressing the back of your hand, causing your cheeks to flush.
“Yeahhhh...” You sigh, leaning back, your eyes fluttering shut as your head rests against the pillow behind you.
“Why didn’t you tell us Y/N?” Kelley asks and you sigh.
“I didn’t want you guys to worry, I knew you planned on spending the holidays together, and I didn’t want to ruin it.”
Emily scoffs.
“You could NEVER ruin our holiday, honestly, we were going to come see you anyway.”
Kelley’s hand rests on top of yours and Emily’s.
“We really wanted you to be a part of it.”
Your eyes double in size, your heart skipping a beat in your chest as you glance down at your joined hands, your cheeks flushing.
“You had some things to say when we got here...” Kelley starts, and your brows furrow.
“I-I did?” You stammer and she nods.
“You did.”
You swallow roughly, your heart racing wildly in your chest, the thought you may have confessed your feelings making your palms go clammy.
“Wh-Wh-What did I say?” You stutter, eyeing your blankets nervously.
“Well, you didn’t think we were real.” Emily smiles and you chuckle, shaking your head.
“What else did I do?” You ask Emily and Kelley sharing a glance, which goes unnoticed by you.
Kelley clears her throat.
“You said we didn’t love you.” She whispers, your head snapping upwards, your eyes locking with her dark brown orbs.
“Wh-What...?” You stutter, sliding your hand out from beneath there’s only for Kelley to catch your hand before you can rest it in your lap.
“You said we didn’t love you, like you loved us.”
You mouth falls open, your eyes darting between the two women as your cheeks redden, the tips of your ears beginning to burn as your gaze falls to your lap, tears prickling at the corners of your eyes.
“I-I-I'm so sorry... Y-You weren’t supposed to find out... I-I-I... I mean...” You mumble, unable to look at the two women.
Unbeknownst to you, Kelley glances at Emily, who nods, the woman cupping your cheek before turning you towards her, your eyes glassy as they meet her brown orbs.
“I don’t know where you got that idea.” She whispers, your eyes widening dramatically when Emily glances at Kelley.
“What idea?” You ask, your voice quivering, Kelley tucking a loose strand of hair behind your ear.
“The idea that we don’t love you like we love each other.”
Your heart stalls in your chest, your eyes darting from brown orbs, to hazel orbs and back, your breath hitching when Kelley’s brown orbs drop to your lips, her tongue running along her lips before she begins leaning in.
Your breath catches in your throat, the thought that this may still be a hallucination still prominent in your mind, that is until Kelley’s lips meet yours for the first time, her hands gently cupping your cheeks.
All thoughts of this being a hallucination leave your mind as the woman kisses you softly, your bottom lip trapped between hers as the two of you kiss, parting with much reluctance.
Kelley’s forehead rests against yours the woman smiling softly.
Moments later she’s pulling away, her forehead being replaced by Emily’s her hazel orbs locking with yours as she leans in, her eyes fluttering shut as her lips too, meet yours.
You cup her cheek boldly, your fingers tangling in her hair as you kiss, the woman sighing against your lips.
Again, you part, the blonde pulling back, only to turn your head, kissing your temple softly, the older of the pair resting her head against your own as well.
“So, what do you think now?” Kelley whispers and you chuckle.
“I’m thinking I REALLY hope I’m not still hallucinating.”
Kelley chuckles as Emily giggles, their laughter contagious despite the pain you’re currently feeling.
"How can we convince you that this is real?” Kelley asks and you grin.
“I mean, a few more kisses might help.” You shrug, unable to bite back a grin.
Kelley and Emily share a glance, the two grinning before Kelley leans back in.
“I think that can be arranged.”

Reckless: USWNT x Reader
Request: Im so sorry if you are getting fed up with the baby r x the team requests so you don’t have to do this one, but if you want, one where the team gets mad at her when she risks her life to save someone? It’as ok if you don’t I understand but thank you
& To the request of baby reader saving a person will you add that she also gets mildly injured as a result of it? Also keep up the amazing work!! 😁👍👍❤️
Words: 829
Warnings: swearing
(Y/N) POV
I wake up from my nap and my body aches. Fuck. The team is pissed. I roll over and try to fall back asleep but a voice stops me.
“We are going to have to talk about this eventually,” Becky says. “I’ve held the team off long enough for you to get some sleep, but you are going to have to face them eventually. More importantly, you are going to sit down with Alyssa and I so we can talk about your habit of doing things that can potentially hurt you.”
I groan and pull a pillow over my head.
“Stop being so overprotective,” I mumble into the pillow hoping Becky doesn’t hear me.
“Don’t give me that,” she reprimands. “Everyone on this team knows you have a thing for walking on the fine line between being careless and reckless. And you promised you would be more careful and use your brain more. You broke that promise and we will be talking about it with Alyssa because you can’t keep making these decisions.”
“Why can’t talking with the team be enough?” I ask clearly showing how annoyed I am.
“Because it isn’t enough for you, (Y/N),” Becky says. “We have tried to be patient with you, but you stepped in front of a car to push someone out of the way. You are lucky you made it out with a broken arm and some soreness. You could have had so many worse injuries. You are lucky you aren’t still in the hospital.”
“I get it,” I say trying to shut her up. “Just bring them in so they can tell how stupid I was so I can go back to sleep.”
“I already texted them in the group chat,” she says. “They should all be here soon.”
“Can I have my phone?” I ask. “I need to tell my parents that I am alive. And they don’t need to worry because literally, everyone here is already doing that.”
She hands me my phone and I see that I have a lot of notifications. From friends and family checking on me as well as fans on social media. I text back all of the people who are important and by the time I am done the team is impatiently waiting for me.
“You are lucky you aren’t dead, (Y/N),” Carli says gently. “I understand you were doing something heroic, but you need to stop putting your life on the line. You do it on the field and you do it on the field and one day you are going to get hurt badly.”
“We were all scared,” Christen tells me. “We didn’t see the other person we only saw you jump out in front of a car that was moving fast enough to cause serious damage. You need to use your brain more.”
“So’hara doesn’t use their brain,” I mutter. “Maybe you should be a better influence.”
“So’hara?”
“Emily and Kelley’s ship name,” I explain. “God, you guys are old.”
“Excuse you,” Pinoe says. “Age means nothing.”
“And not all of us are old!” Tierna says.
“I’m sorry Tierna, you aren’t old,” I tell her. “But everyone else is.”
There is a series of complaints, most of them coming from ‘the kids’. Eventually, they all shut up after a loud groan from me and an attempt to get them to leave me to take a nap.
“You aren’t going to sleep kid,” Alyssa says. “We are not done talking about this.”
I move to get up and find somewhere else to sleep when Alyssa comes and sits on me.
“You aren’t getting out of this,” she says.
“You guys are overreacting,” I groan. “This is so stupid. I know I could have died and I don’t really care. And I don’t care that you guys care more than me.”
I lay back against the pillows and ignore everyone and eventually they leave because no matter how hard they try they can’t get me to do something when I don’t want to do it. After that Alyssa gets off of me but she still sits next to me on the bed.
“You know its not nice to sit on someone that just got hit by a car,” I tell Alyssa. “I’m already in a lot of pain. I don’t need you to make it worse by sitting on me.”
“I did what I had to do,” she says with a shrug. “You aren’t getting out of this conversation.”
“I don’t think we need to have this conversation at all,” I say. “Everyone has made it very clear that I made a stupid decision.”
“We just want you to start valuing yourself for what you are worth,” Becky says. “You could seriously get hurt and ruin your career.”
“Okay,” I say finally giving up. “I’m sorry.”
“We know kid,” Alyssa says hugging me. “But I am taking your phone as a reminder to use your brain before you do things.”

Heath17_KO5 AMA responses
Thanks to Heath17_KO5 for answering these for folks.
You can reach her on the preathfics discord if you have follow up questions!
hardtchill said: mom will love us forever?
Yes, yes. *pat pat*
What inspired KO/Sonnett? I mean, we've seen Soran around, but not very many good Fics of that pairing.
That you can blame on blak0tyler. She started writing them, and I was like “I don’t really ship it because I think they’re too similar, but I love your writing, so I’ll read” and then by the end of the fic I was like “Damn, I kinda see it now.” I think for me it’s partially just that I really enjoy writing both characters (or did anyway). It’s fun to write characters that on the surface can be snide or sarcastic or goofy, but then underneath can have more layers and provide other things to a fic.
ARE YOU THE ANON SUMMER SHORTS???? 👀
Nope! Not me!
Will you write more angsty stuff? Bc you write wonderfully... but it's just all so damn happy!
Hi there musingpredeliction. I think it’s hard for me to have angsty ideas for Preath, and I’m likely to still have happy endings. I was just talking to someone last night about how real life can be hard and can suck so when I turn to fiction, I want it to at least be hopeful, to do things like make me believe in true love (though I am one of the lucky ones that has found that in real life), make me believe in happy endings and beautiful lives, make me believe in magic. If you’d like more angst, I suggest reading more of my Soran or So’hara
Favorite WOSO person IRL? Favorite one to write?
IRL? Idk. It’s hard to judge when I don’t actually know any in real life. Rose holds a special place in my heart. Tobin’s footwork is magic and her laid back, goofy personality makes me swoon. Christen is the epitome of beauty to me both physically and just who she is (or at least who she shows us publicly). I honestly love so many of them. Sonny, KO (yes, still, though I am disappointed and hope she learns and grows), Julie, CRYSTAL!! Moving on from the USWNT, I’m a big fan of Emily Menges (one of the league’s most underrated defenders), Simone Charley, Midge Purce, Jennifer Cujoe, Sarah Gorden, Yuki Nagasato, Casey Short, Ali Riley, the list goes on. Lol. And on a more international player level: Tiane Endler, Mapi Leon, Jenni Hermoso, Sam Kerr, Hayley Raso, (actually a bunch of the Aussies), Vivianne Miedema, and so many more.
Favorite one to write is a bit easier: Emily Sonnett.
is with fandom culture that she is having a problem or the preath fandom specifically? also, i really love her writing, for both preath and soran so i hope that, if she retires, she doesn't delete her work, please! and man, the kelley situation, it's been really hard for us readers and for the writers…
Here’s the thing: part of what I have a problem with about Kelley is the fandom’s response to her. I’m disappointed by her not kneeling. I think she really needs to have more hard conversations and examine why she stood apart from game one and hopefully learn and grow. I’m disappointed in the culture of cancelling someone because they don’t learn and grow on the timeline you see fit, though. That now people will write off entire stories because a CHARACTER version of Kelley (that the authors have created themselves, let’s not forget), is part of it even if those stories were begun before the tournament happened. That her kneeling or not discounts her skill on the field or her actions off the field that we’re unaware of. Again, we only see a part of them, what they publicly show us, and I am very disappointed that she didn’t show us her kneeling for the anthem beyond game one, but I’m also aware that she may be taking steps I have no idea about. I’m not trying to start a discourse, though I’m sure this will, but that’s part of my issue. And then there’s the trickiness that comes of being part of an RPS/RPF fandom, where there’s the distinction between fiction and reality, between what we’d like to be true and what we 100% know. I don’t mean to cast aspersions. I’m not here to judge you anymore than I’m here to judge them.
What brought you to Preathfics, or rather just the WOSO fanfic community in general?
I have always been a soccer fan. I played through high school. But fanfic you can thank lesbianrobinhood for. I was not looking for a new fandom, but she dragged me kicking and screaming anyway. It’s usually the way.
What pairing do you most enjoy writing for? Why?
Hmmm...That depends on what I’m in the mood for. I like writing Soran or So’Hara if I’m feeling angsty or Preath if I’m not, but really it’s more about the individual story than the pairing: which idea captures my attention most in a moment. That said, as I said in another answer: I love writing Sonny, so if I get to write her, even if she’s just the supporting friend to Preath, I am a happy person.
Do you have a favorite fic? Can you make a list like Preathfics did of your faves?
Oooh, ummm...I mean anything by Blake0tyler for sure. I could (and have) read her stuff over and over and over. I love, love, LOVE Here I Am (Signed, Sealed, Delivered), by freshtilapia. I really enjoy The Restaurant by little_oblivion for a great ensemble piece. The One Where Everyone Finds Out is another great one (and all of LittleDanvers’s stuff really). I love the imagery in Portrait of a Soccer Player on Fire by restlessvirtue. Entwined by superdupergust is very good (and hot). And for non-preath one of my faves is unbecomings (but their stuff is locked).
Do you have a favorite fic that you've written before?
Like of my own? Umm...The Time Between or Orlando is Only Home When It Has You, although so far I really like something that is as yet unpublished, and I’m enjoying the way folklore is turning out with JustCrushALot.
what's your favorite color?
Green!
Can you ask her why did she suddenly decide to update orgasm fic?
….Should I not? I have a hard time writing smut. I have to be in the right mindset and I haven’t been there in a while, but then I was, so I was like “Let me try” and it worked out.
are you planning on writing anymore explicit preath fics/oneshots?! The one up rn are soooo good!!
Umm...that depends. If I get the inspiration, then yes, certainly, I wouldn’t rule it out. Also I have a bet right now with blake0tyler about something which should result in smut from one of us at least.
To the amazing author of Worth a Thousand words: the story is beautifully written, it's funny, sweet and different from other fics. I totally get the KO thing and I do agree with you on that one but know that it's a fantastic story. (Everything you write is)❤️
❤️ Thank you! That is incredibly sweet! I really appreciate you saying so. ❤️
My opinion isn’t worth much as an anon but I loved Worth a Thousand Words and whoever gave it bad feedback can go suck an egg.
Haha, thank you. I’m glad that you enjoy it!
Heath17_KO5's feelings are so darn relatable, I'm crying just from reading the words fear, disillusionment and disappointment. Creative people are often highly sensitive people and when they feel things, they FEEL things. Wishing you strenghth, clarity and insight, Heath17_KO5. I hope you keep finding joy in the written word, as we do in YOUR written word.
❤️ That is very lovely of you to say. Thank you. Please don’t shed any tears on my account though!
heath17_ko5 is having problems with fandom in general or with the woso/preath fandom? that's a shame, but she should do what is best for her :)
Thank you, I appreciate that. I mean, I think in all fandoms there is a toxic element, but as this is the only fandom I’m currently active in, it’s this one. And it’s not all of you, please don’t think that. I sort of explained in another ask.
I just love Heath17_KO5's stories and everything they contribute. Is there any chance the author will pursue Beacon of Light? No pressure or anything. I just thought it had such a sweet premise. And I am a sucker for a good storm story :D
I am working on chapter 2, it’s just slow going.

so’hara “ignore me. i didn’t see anything”
Emily’s smile lights up her entire face when she sees Kelley round the corner of the training center hallway. “Finally!” Emily threw her hands in the air in mock exasperation. “I thought you’d never get here!”
“I needed to make sure no one was suspicious or followed me!” Kelley explains and wastes no time as she leans in to give Emily a hungry kiss.
Emily smirks, “I guess that does make up for it.”
“Yeah?” Kelley presses her lips to Emily’s and slowly pushes her back against the wall. She was certain every nerve in her body was on fire just from simply kissing Emily. Both women were so lost in their kiss that they miss the footsteps down the hall that lead to their location.
“Ignore me, I didn’t see anything.” Christen blushes slightly and smiles. She takes a few steps back towards the corner of the hallway.
Emily was still pressed against the way by Kelley’s body with one of her hands on the wall next to Emily’s face.
“What didn’t you see?” A voice asks from around the corner.
“Nothing, don’t worry about it.” Christen starts to walk back around the corner as she tries to push the other person back down the hall.
“What? You’re being weird.” The voice asks and the noise of a scuffle breaks out. “Let go of me, you beautiful women!”
At this point, Kelley and Emily would have pulled apart. But their brains were still trying to recover from the steamy kiss. So instead, they remain in their compromising position.
Suddenly, Tobin rounded the corner pulling against Christen, who’s hand were wrapped around her waist, trying to pull her back. “Ah!”
Emily and Kelley flinch, the startling noise finally kicks their brains into gear as they pull apart.
“Ah!” Tobin yells again. Christen tried to unsuccessfully cover Tobin’s mouth with her hand. “I see it! How do you not see it?!”
“Ugh, Tobs. I clearly saw them but the deer in the headlights look gave me an indication that it was something I wasn’t supposed to see.” Christen gave up her attempts at restraining her girlfriend.
“It’s not what it looks like.” Emily blurts.
Three heads turn to her. Kelley tilts her head to the side and purses her lips to try and hide a smile. “It isn’t?”
“I mean. It is!” Emily’s lock eye with Kelley’s as she resists the temptation to pull her back in.
Tobin’s laughter breaks their intense eye contact. “Well damn, I feel a little violated by just watching the look you guys just gave each other.” A mischievous smile crosses her face and she turns to Christen. “I told you! Ah-ha! I called it! Didn’t I tell you how much Sonny was talking about Kelley back in Portland? It was always, ‘Kelley taught me this…’ or ‘Kel did not deserve that foul, the ref is soft!’ or when she thought I didn’t see her staring at the one Instagram post of Kelley in that dress!”
“Yes, I’m dating the world's best detective.” Christen deadpans before she mouths ‘sorry’ to the blushing pair. “Did you still want me to show you that thing I was telling you about?” Christen whispers to Tobin. Tobin’s eyes grew wide and nodded her head energetically.
They two start to walk away as Tobin yells, “Bye, guys! We didn’t see anything! Although I expect details later!”
Kelley and Emily start to laugh after their footsteps became faint. “Well, I guess the cats out of the bag now. Tobin’s going to tell everyone about us.” Emily shrugs.
“Eh, I wouldn’t say that. I think Press will keep her quiet. But speaking of Tobin telling people things…which Instagram pic was it?” Kelley winks and raises her eyebrows.
“Oh, shut up,” Emily says and pulls Kelley back in for a searing kiss.

so’hara 14?
Slightly out of my comfort zone, so thank you for getting me to try it!
“Please...stay...”
Emily awoke with a startle. Who was she holding? Why was her mouth so incredibly dry? She gingerly lifted her head and was pleasantly surprised to find only a dull headache. Emily focused back on the matter at hand, the naked women she still held. Her brown hair was pulled into a ponytail and Emily pulled back a little to take in the back of the women. There were freckles sprinkled across her defined back muscles.
Holy shit. Emily began to panic. She knew the whole team was wasted on Champaign and drunk from the glory of winning the World Cup last night. But sleeping with the women she was secretly pining over for the past two years was not in her plans for celebration.
“Kel?” Emily whispered.
Kelley snuggled in closer to Emily, so her back was flush against her.
Emily had to resist a groan. “Um, Kelley?”
She started to stir and slowly blinked to adjust her eyes to the little light that came in through the hotel blinds.
“Yeah?” Kelley’s voice came out husky.
If Emily was standing, her knees would have gone weak. Instead, she had to pull herself together, “Kelley.”
Kelley’s eyes opened wide and then closed tightly. She allowed herself to enjoy the softness and warmth of Emily’s skin. The second was gone too soon. Kelley slowly turned her neck and peaked at Emily’s face with one eye open. “Oh.”
“Yeah. Oh.” Emily said because she was unsure of what else to say in this situation. What did Kelley remember? Heck, what did she remember? Do they laugh it off, pretend it never happened or have an honest talk about it?
“Fancy seeing you here,” Kelley said and tried to laugh but it didn’t meet her eyes.
Emily chuckled awkwardly and vibration highlighted the fact that neither one of them had any clothing on.
Kelley’s eyes darkened and returned to normal so quickly that Emily began to doubt there was any change at all. Emily and Kelley both pulled apart and started to get dressed.
“Uh…where is my bra?” Emily asked. Kelley glanced around the room before she found the navy blue, lace bra that hung off the arm of the chair. “Thanks.” Emily took the bra from Kelley. Her cheeks dusted pink and she shifted away from Kelley as she finished getting dressed.
“What happened?” Kelley sounded hesitant.
Emily thought she could respond with a joke but the air around them felt heavy. She wasn’t sure if it was due to the potential awkwardness of the situation or something more charged. Normally, she would have said some smart-ass comment along the lines of how they just won the world cup and partied all night. Instead, she opted for, “It’s a little blurry. I think you invited me back here to have one last glass of champagne before the greatest day had ended. Then one thing led to another…”
Kelley nodded her head as she allowed the memories to come back in slow motion. She sat on the bed and remained quiet. This wasn’t how it was supposed to happen with Emily. She had a plan. It might have been the most foolproof plan, but she was going to wait until they got home to tell her that she had fallen in love with Emily. Kelley couldn’t pinpoint the moment it happened or even when it started but somewhere along the way, with each passing day she had fallen harder.  She was going to wait so Emily didn’t have any doubts that Kelley was only telling her feeling due to the excitement from the win. But how was she supposed to say all of that now? The plan had gone to shit. “I guess we certainly know how to celebrate.” The joke felt hallow and she knew it was due to thoughts swarming through her head.
“Right,” Emily said and Kelley could have sworn she hung her head a little lower. “I guess I’m going to head back to my room to pack before we catch the plane.” Emily looked around for the shoes she wore last night. She didn’t want to leave but slowly grabbed her shoes and hoped that Kelley would say something. Anything.
“Em?” Kelley’s voice was barely above a whisper. Emily turned around slowly as she tried to subtly wipe her palms on her pants that were now carried a layer on nervous sweat.
“Yeah?” Emily held her breath.
Kelley sighed and finally looked up to meet Emily’s eyes. Emily's eyes held such vulnerability and Kelley knew that there was a chance that maybe Emily harbored the same feelings. It was now or never. “Please…stay…”
