I know it's cool to have a sort of knee jerk cringe reaction to anything "fandom related" on here but I genuinely cannot see what's so bad about putting characters from media into like meme screenshots from other shows lmao. like it's not "reducing them down to tropes and ignoring the source material" its like "hey this common meme template reminds me of something that happened in the game/show/whatever haha that's funny"

#i have a more bitter point in this i just cant think of how to phrase it properly #something about implying that anything less than full academic analysis is a cringefail virginloser way of interacting with media #and calling any criticism of this standpoint 'anti-intellectualism' because its the buzzword du jour #or to put it more le epic tumblr cringe liberal or whatever you guys call them: let people have fun #i promise you can be smart about media and deep analytical whatever and still want to make jokes about it. its not mutually exclusive
