The George - Bathampton The George Inn sits on the banks of the Kennet and Avon Canal in Mill Lane, Bathampton, opposite St. Nicholas Church. There is some debate as to when exactly the inn was built. Some sections seem to have been established as early as the 12th century, when it was part of a monastery for the Prior of Bath. Though according to English Heritage, the current building is built from ‘coursed rubble with a Cotswold stone slate roof’ and dates from the mid to late 17th century, while the west gable is dated 1815. The George Inn is said to be haunted by the ghost of Viscount John Baptiste Du Barre, a foreign noble, who died in the last legal duel fought in Britain. A decadent man who held lavish parties, he was also fond of gambling. Following a quarrel over a game of cards, a challenge was thrown down and he and his opponent met on Claverton Down at dawn on 18th November 1778. The Shrubbery - Weston Super Mare
The ghost of a policeman is said to haunt the footbridge in Shrubbery Road
The gruesome tale dates back to 1861 when PC Alfred Pavey was killed while arresting two burglars at the Villa Rosa.
The burglars put up a fight and PC Pavey was badly injured.
He died on October 7, 1861, but he is still said to wander the Shrubbery keeping an eye on his beat.

Montacute (Private Residence - Within the estate?) Seen sometime in the last few years The phantom older gentleman has been observed both in the house and on the grounds. He is blamed for the opening and closing of curtains, disembodied footsteps, and unexplained bangs. On multiple occasions during renovation work builders on the site would investigate sounds which they suspected came from copper thieves, but no one would ever be found and nothing was missing. Weston-super-Mare - The Causeway History -
The Causeway links Knightstone Island to the mainland.
Reverend Thomas Pruen bought Knightstone in 1824.
He commissioned the construction of a causeway to the island, which was built above the high tide level, and a low pier, which was used by pleasure boats.
Hauntings
While walking along the causeway in c 2002, two witnesses heard sloshing water and running footsteps behind them.
They turned around and briefly spotted a young girl moving quickly towards them, with her hands held up.
The girl moved through one witness's body and brushed against the other before spinning round and vanishing.

Creech Hill and the Strange Running Man Creech Hill is a hill in south east Somerset, which is notable for a univallate Iron Age hill fort. The hill is situated north west of the small town of Bruton. Lamyatt Beacon marks the highest area of the hill, and is the site of a Romano-Celtic temple, which was in use from 250 AD to 375 AD According to the folklorist Katharine Briggs, Creech Hill is said to be haunted by a ghost known as the Bullbeggar. From traditions collected by Ruth Tongue in 1906 and published in County Folklore, she recounts how in the 1880s two bodies had been dug up during quarrying operations. Afterward the hill became haunted by a "black uncanny shape" and unseen footsteps. A farmer coming home late one night saw a figure lying in the road and approached to offer help, whereupon it suddenly got up and chased him all the way to his own door. His family ran to his rescue and saw the figure bounding away with wild laughter. Another traveller at night was attacked on Creech Hill and defended himself from midnight to morning with the help of a staff made of ash Source- Wikipedia #somersethauntings #somerset #hauntedhillforts #somersethillforts #somersethistory #hillforts #hauntedhotspot #hauntedhotspots #Paranormal #paranormalactivity #paranormnalinvestigator #paranormalresearcher #paranormalpage #creechhill #ironagefort #supernaturalsomerset #supernatural #entity #ghost #ghosts #ghoststory #ghoststoriesofinstagram https://www.instagram.com/p/CRtO906IFqg/?utm_medium=tumblr

Old Mother Leakey of Minehead
Minehead forms the backdrop to a curious tale involving scandal and the supernatural.
On her deathbed a widow named Susan Leakey claimed she would return ‘in the devil’s likeness’, the reasoning behind this bizarre utterance remains unclear.
She died in 1634 and was buried in St Michael’s churchyard, although that wasn’t the last her family – or indeed the town of Minehead – would hear of Old Mother Leakey.
Various members of the Leakey clan are said to have witnessed her ghost, including her daughter-in-law Elizabeth, of whom she materialized before to communicate a message from beyond the grave.
Elizabeth was married to Susan Leakey’s son, Alexander, who was a shipping merchant.
It is said that the mischievous ghost would ‘whistle up a storm’ when one of Alexander’s ships arrived at Minehead harbour. Mother Leakey’s activities grew to such a pitch Charles I ordered the Bishop of Bath and Wells to investigate.
Mother Leakey’s message to her daughter-in-law supposedly concerned John Atherton, the Bishop of Waterford and Lismore, and the husband of her daughter Joan.
Apparently the Whistling Ghost was aware of an affair Atherton (now living in Ireland) had had with another of her daughters, and desired him to repent
However some time later Atherton was arrested for sodomy and hanged in Dublin on 5th December 1640.
The pamphlet which details the bishop’s execution references Mother Leakey’s ghost, who is still said to haunt Minehead to this day.
Her house is now a teashop.
