Personality & Habits

- Despite his laid-back demeanor, he's constantly observing everything around him—his brain never truly shuts off, even when he looks relaxed.

- He’s a really fast eater. Not because he’s rude, but because he’s always been used to eating on the go. Iris probably has to remind him to slow down.

- He sleeps in weird positions, sometimes with his wings sprawled out awkwardly. He’s the type to wake up tangled in his blankets.

- He hates being cold. His body runs naturally warm, but if he gets even a little chilly, he complains about it and immediately seeks out warmth (like clinging to Iris).

- He talks with his hands a lot and sometimes forgets his feathers move along with them, which can be really distracting in a conversation.

- He’s surprisingly good at card games and has an excellent poker face. You’d never catch him slipping in a game of bluff.

- Despite being fast, he has a habit of showing up late to casual things. He’s always on time for missions, but if it’s something like a dinner plan, expect him to be at least five minutes late—and with an excuse.

- When he’s exhausted, his voice gets really raspy, almost to the point where it’s unrecognizable.

Hobbies & Interests

- He actually enjoys reading, but he prefers books with short chapters so he can take breaks between missions without losing track of the story.

- He has a soft spot for older, classic anime. He doesn’t have time to binge-watch shows, so he’ll watch one or two episodes when he can.

- He enjoys cooking but hates baking—too many precise measurements. He’d rather eyeball things.

- He’s good at darts. Insanely good. Almost unfairly good.

- Loves music, especially anything upbeat or relaxing. If Iris is into music too, he’ll love sharing earbuds and swapping playlists with her.

- He actually likes drawing but never takes it seriously. His sketches are mostly silly little doodles of things he finds funny.

- He has a secret love for really dumb conspiracy theories. He doesn’t believe them, but he finds them hilarious. He’ll absolutely bring up some wild theory just to see Iris’s reaction.

- Loves being outside but hates bugs. If one gets caught in his feathers, you’ll hear about it.

Relationship & Affection

- He’s naturally flirty, but when he’s truly in love (like with Iris), he dials it back in public because he doesn’t feel the need to overdo it. His affection becomes more intimate, quiet, and sincere.

- He remembers everything about the people he cares about. Even small, seemingly insignificant details.

- Physical affection is second nature to him. He’s the type to reach for Iris without thinking, whether it’s holding her hand, resting his chin on her head, or wrapping a wing around her.

- He loves forehead kisses and will do them casually, just because.

- If he’s jealous, he won’t make a scene, but he will get a little passive-aggressive in the most Hawks way possible—sarcastic comments, extra clinginess, or flexing his speed just to remind everyone who she belongs to.

- He loves being babied in private. If Iris plays with his hair, kisses his forehead, or calls him soft pet names, he melts. He won’t admit how much he loves it, though.

- He’s a light sleeper, but if Iris is next to him, he sleeps a lot better. If she moves around too much (which she does), he just pulls her closer instead of letting her roll away.

Miscellaneous

- He has selective hearing. If it’s boring paperwork talk, he tunes out, but if Iris mumbles something cute under her breath, he hears it.

- He has surprisingly neat handwriting for someone who moves so fast all the time.

- He definitely steals fries off Iris’s plate like it’s a given right.

- His wings react to his emotions involuntarily. If he’s embarrassed, they puff up slightly. If he’s annoyed, they flick. If he’s happy, they give little excited twitches.

- He absolutely sneaks into Iris’s house if she forgets to lock the door (which she does).

- He has so many sunglasses. Not because he needs them, but because they make him feel cool.

- He’s terrible at sitting still. If he’s forced to stay in one place too long, expect him to start messing with his feathers, tapping his foot, or leaning into Iris just to stay occupied.

- He lowkey wants a pet bird but worries it would feel like adopting a distant cousin.

- He doesn’t mind storms, but thunder sometimes makes his feathers bristle if it’s too sudden.

- If he sees Iris wearing his jacket or using his wings as a blanket, he immediately enters smug boyfriend mode.

WIP Whenever

(I was going to do wip Wednesday, but then I think it would imply that you should do it on that specific day, and I really don't care about that lol. If you want to join in, you can do so at any point!)

I thought it would be cool to see what everyone has going on in their hyper fixation worlds, so consider this an opportunity to share anything you've been working on! You can reblog this post or tag me in your own post (maybe tag others and we can turn this into a tag game?) and talk about any headcanons, wip writing, wip sketches, or just use this as an opportunity to ramble about your hyper fixations!

...I also just wanted to share the fics I've been writing/planning because I wanted to get it all out haha. I'm the kind of person who spontaneously starts a bunch of different projects and bounces between them- I get burnt out if I only focus on one thing!

Here are the different series I'm planning/have been writing:

-Ancient Call (post kotor 2; Freyja x Atton)

Named after the EP by SYML, Ancient Call reflects on Atton's relationship with the Exile as they rebuild what they can in the galaxy after the events of kotor 2. It's definitely more somber, but it revolves around themes of grief, loss, and finding stability through love. I've already started writing the first work, and I'm so sorry but it's going to be depressing lol. It will get more hopeful eventually, though!

-Time After Time (Aresyl x Theron)

Named after the couple's theme song by Cyndi Lauper, Time After Time explores snapshots across Aresyl and Theron's relationship and how the stars crossed to bring them together. I've already written a few fics, but I want to draw something to go along with the first part before I post it.

I thought Time After Time was the perfect song for them because the first verse reminds me of the dream Theron describes having, and because they showed up for each other time after time.

-Alykaa x Hrafen (I'm still working on the title lol)

I've written the first work, but I haven't posted because I want to draw something to pair with it- I feel like otherwise no one will really be able to connect to it. I mean, it's a fic between OCs, it doesn't really have the pull a fic with already established and loved canon character would.

Anyways, I want to explore their relationship from with an interest in what gives someone morality and the nature vs nurture of what makes a person. I don't know if that makes it sound too deep, but I'm always really interested in how people develop their different beliefs and morality and how other people and situations affect it all. That interest is a big part of why I prefer Imperial characters in swtor, why Andor is my favorite Star Wars show, why kotor 2 is my favorite Star Wars video game, and why Better Call Saul (not related to Star Wars, but still) is my favorite show of all time.

I've been pondering on (not a lot of writing so far) a series about the events after ME3 and how Valerie and Kaidan find each other again. I also want to write a lot of little one-shot/slice of life fics to give their relationship more context.

I haven't posted anything Skyrim yet, but I have a vision. I want to write about my Dragonborn oc and her journey from being a petty thief to being a noble defender of the people. It would also explore faith and how that shaped her.

i’m too shy to share the whole picture IM SORRY—i just wanted to capture a few headcanons into a single shamelessly horny drawing of the three of them together. also, my thoughts are completely unorganized and this post is mostly just me rambling!

small disclaimer, if you don’t agree with or like my headcanons, that’s totally valid but please don’t tell me so 🙇 i kindly ask you just move on from this post. thank you!

okay. so i feel like both reth and jel are service tops HEAR ME OUT—like, they’re both just a couple of pathetic lover boys who are so head over heels in love with you. the fact they practically always gift you something when you flirt with them in-game (jel gifting silk and reth gifting soup) i feel is their attempts at spoiling you and taking care of you in their own way. they just want to see you happy and make you cum your brains out a thousand times until you can’t think straight anymore 🥺

and in general, i feel jel would love to shower you in compliments and words of praise and practically worship your body. while i feel reth is the type to show you how he feels and relish in watching you come undone with him. but personally 👉👈 i feel jel and reth align more closely as switches because they’re both so.. so soft and need to be spoiled and loved so deeply (no innuendo intended)

with that said, i think jel is a more intimate and passionate lover while reth is a bit more unhinged and rough. that’s not to say jel doesn’t have his sadistic bouts. i feel it stems directly from his obsessive nature and grows into a desire to watch you submit to him and his whims, sort of in a controlling way. but it makes him so happy when you do. the need to know you belong to him, both your heart and body, is honestly really important to him. i actually feel he has control issues due to a number of reasons but that’s a different discussion—💀 and he rewards you so thoroughly for showing him how much you love him. god, the aftercare? he’s so gentle and attentive and treats you like the most precious thing he’s ever held.

more on reth, while not as sadistic, i feel he’s still plenty controlling when he wants to be. the poor man has hardly any control in his day-to-day life and the fact you allow him an ounce of control? over your body of all things? yeah, that shit drives him mad (positive). gets a bit carried away and leaves marks on your body, hickeys, scratches, bruises, the like. but hey, at least it’s a pretty reminder of how much fun you had together. plus, if anyone sees they’ll know you belong to him. but he definitely teases you about it the following days by making sly comments and even running his fingers over the more sensitive marks.

so, in my polycule i envision moments where two will actively spoil the other. so for instance like when maddox and reth want to spoil jel and shower him in the love and affection he deserves, he gets all shy and blushy but relishes in the moment. he pays them back tenfold once they’re finished, but not that same night. maddox and reth make sure he’s completely worn out so he’ll finally get some damn sleep for once. reth is the same in that regard; he gets all shy and blushy but he enjoys being spoiled for once. not having to care about anything or anyone else and focus fully on himself and his pleasure. and the two know this and want to show him how loved he is. lowkey i imagine jel bringing him to tears, crying tears of pleasure and from overstimulation but that may be a personal thing of mine. 💀 and as for maddox? they both know exactly which buttons to push. i imagine them sort of egging each other along. i mentioned earlier i think jel has a sadistic side to him, well i think the same of reth albeit not nearly as prominent. like, the fact he teases and flirts so much could be for a number of reasons, but how lovely it would be if it were only to watch their reactions each time. with that said, maddox happens to be very reactive and discovering that fact in bed, like, awakens something inside of him to tease more, to push as much as maddox will allow him. and yes, he notices the way jel reacts to it too. it only makes him want to tease him for the fact as well 🥴 WHICH is why i drew him with that expression LMAO normally i would’ve imagined him with a much softer and kinder expression but i think he’s quick to lose himself in the throes of pleasure which causes him to act a bit selfish at times. but like i said, i see him as a service top so really his ‘selfish’ moments are him just spoiling maddie and jel and showering their bodies with so much love and attention.

Good evening/morning/afternoon to everyone it's Gloomy! And I'm going to talk about the people calling me problematic and pointing out the other shitty stuff, etc.. I have did! Before I start a reminder I don't want to start anything violent or a big argument about this I just want people to understand me. So let's get started

As you guys seen the videos (video was made by ex), and screenshot, transphobic, fatphobic, etc.. I'll be talking about that.

So first of all I'm not transphobic some not only just me messes up with people's pronunciation and sexuality! Everyone can make mistakes about that and I hope you know that I have apologized to the person I have offended, I respect trans people and I have a trans friend, About the fatphobic, I'm not a fatshamer, well it's ok to have many different body shapes and I respect peoples body but saying it few times doesn't mean I'm completely a body shamer! Not to mention that the kid I have said about IS a body shamer and lowkey racist himself too, and don't say that I'm making fun of people's name I'm just calling my seat mate "carbonat" because I'm preventing to say her real name, she's ok with that calling her that, my classmates doesn't have to be included in the situation !! And what do you mean by I'm a "manipulator" do you even know the meaning of that word? I have no idea how I manipulated anyone maybe I wanted to be friends again with the person they made the video about me? I'm just trying to be friendly and forget about the past, if you really see me that way then you should just say the truth and say don't want to be friends with me again, saying the truth can't be that hard. Second of all, about my behavior getting called as "immature" and "insensitive". Not all teenagers have to be matured in their age, you were more immature than me, there is something called having fun, hope you know that. I'm not insensitive, I struggle with trying to comfort someone and understand someone's feeling doesn't mean I'm insensitive well I admit that i didn't listen to that person vent and I feel sorry for them and still feel guilty about it, I have apologized to them many times, maybe you have should stop hiding the truth and not forgive me it can't be that hard to not accept someone's apology if they actually did something bad to hurt someone like that. And yes I understand that it was hard for you. You could've just left me at the spot. Feel disgusted and sick about me , block me everywhere yall you want but I'm stating the facts and ok I admit that I have a bad temper and get mad easily and I have offended someone's partner writing alot of shit about the server and about them (srry about that bro.) Also calling me a "proshipper" are you trying to gaslight me or other people or what, if I ever shipped an adult with a minor I'm very sorry about that but I just don't remember how I shipped a minor with an adult my memory is bad, my apology.

Third of all, let's not bring my irl friends into this kind.. of situation (my classmates includes), they have said that they don't want to be included in it and they are not comfortable doing anything about it, maybe if you haven't said anything offensive about my friend she shouldn't have said something back too! And you don't even know what we are saying in our language so why point that out. And I apologized to that person afterwards. If you may ask if I have evidence of them, no I do not have evidence of them most of the time me and the person are in a call so I don't voice record, screen shot person's stuff, I respect peoples privacy and it would be weird as hell to just screen shot someone's screen like that and I wouldn't want to do that but someone said to me that they leak people's stuff and leaked someone's phone numbers, leaving friends, and body shaming ex friends and making fun of people! And I also don't want want my things to be screen shotted and get leaked in the public I understand that you had to do it but you have screen shotted other things beside than that, it's really weird and uneasy and mostly disrespectful for me too. I trusted that person too much, lesson learned. Like is there a problem about me talking shit about other people i hate and other problems to that person without getting them offended when it's NOTHING related to them, know your limits I have boundaries and privacy too and I want that to be respected! A reminder that learn to listen to other people's stories and think twice before attacking!

Fourth of all. No I did not ruin anyone's mental health neither I didn't ruined the person health I broke up with. I don't understand how can one ruin someone's mental health through virtual screen, let's just say that I have my own life I have things going on in real life too I don't just look through my phone all day and getting online, I have school, alot of homework/assignments, etc i have alot of things to do beside than drawing, I only draw in my free time and I know I'm not drawing everyday like I used to post. I need some times for myself too, and I feel very much sorry about that to that person I didn't pay attention enough and I just want to say im sorry for everything's I did. But this time they took It too far by posting a video about me? Please don't blame your mental health on people it's wrong thing to do to cover up that they are wrong and just more shittier than me in GENERAL! Get some common sense instead of immediately start blaming the person about their aftermath relationships.

Another thing I want to say that not everyone is always kind and innocent and full of joy, everyone has atleast did one mistake or many in their lifes you just deny that because you don't want other people to see you as a bad person, just learn to get over the past, if you don't want any problems then you should keep it to yourself instead of spreading it. Reconcile with fate.

Fifth of all, this one kinda targeted so. Do you really think you are a good friend when you are literally just leaving out your other friends just because they are quiet and doesn't talk much, introvert people exist and you know that, what do you mean you used to talk to me alot I don't remember talking with you much? You just make other feel very left out for your "cool friends" maybe you should pay attention to your other friends that is trying to talk to you and you just leaving them like that the next months.

Sixth of all. This one is very important. I have seen many anonymous sending death threats, grape jokes to me because of what, you just can't accept the fact that you can't say to me in my face, dms, without being yourself an coward anonymous, do you think it's funny? It's not I assume that you're one of ex's server member coming after for my blood, please tell your members to not send death threats in my inbox just for my reaction I do not need to give a fuck about that thank you.

One thing is I have permanently left hellpark ri, I'm not interested and I don't like it anymore, so don't attack me on that.

So that's all I have to say for, I hope you all understand this that I'm very ashamed and guilty about my actions and offending people, I apologize for everything I have did and I'm sorry if I didn't talk about this earlier. [Tonight I dreamed of teeth and claws and what felt like a million grasping hands chasing me through an endless field. The air smelled of sulphur and acid, and I could tell something was watching me, far beneath the moss and earth.

I woke to find I had been shedding wing scales in my sleep, and that apparently one of my primary containment chambers was registering a foreign presence within it. The only thing there when I checked, however, was Mal, who is supposed to be there - and certainly not supposed to be registering as an intruder.

I hope I don't have to update containment over this. Rescribing every little knot in the weave every time I need to strengthen or add to it gets tiring, when you have to do it multiple times a month. Maybe I should start looking for an apprentice again, if only so I don't have to maintain the entire laboratory myself.

There's an old joke about this sort of thing, charmsmiths only getting an apprentice when they need to make sure someone's take down notes about the experiment that kills them. I'd like to think it's more simply making sure that my knowledge doesn't die with me...]

One of the two left over from @bug-oc Round 1, Mal from @sushiikando gets a post all to their own, just like a Round 2 contestant! This is both because zey're a big/complicated design and because we... really aren't gonna be done Pola any time soon. Which is probably what we get for making a comic, even a short comic, while in the time of summer where we actively struggle to think. Oh, well. We'll get it done eventually.

More details under cut, as usual - despite our enthusiasm for walls of text, we don't particularly want to completely obliterate your dashboard. We're getting kicked in the dick by fatigue right now, so further ones might take a bit - we've got Maria sketched out, and Pola's comic only really needs painting and accompanying story, so all fates willing, it shouldn't be too too much of a holdup. There's an abundance of things that we would LOVE to be doing right now, but heat does awful things to our brain, we're still feeling off from being sick, and with tourism season in swing to boot even with our current medication it's an uphill battle to get ourself to do anything at the moment. Hopefully, this clears up soon. For now, we're still very much alive.

First things first - wow, this one took a few drafts. Although not really an originally anticipated difficulty, the lack of reference of just what Mal looks like under that coat made a lot of our original ideas fall a bit flat unless we wanted to make something up from whole cloth. Marigold's transmutations don't include clothes by default, since actively incorporating inanimate objects into an animate body is both difficult and much, much fussier than usual when you're using Marigold's particular methods.

We tried a few initial designs that stopped at that point, then tried at incorporating the coat into the design more properly a la the more "abstract" brews, but after a few fell flat, we sort of... just started throwing spaghetti at the wall, so to speak, and spaghetti stuck. The body patterns here are, for the most part, entirely made up. Maybe the patterns distorted, maybe they didn't - we don't know what's under the coat and we will likely never learn. It's probably fine.

Our primary inspiration here is eastern dragons, particularly the mythos of the koi who climbed the waterfall - the colors and patterns of Mal's design reminded us of koi patterns on first glance, and after a few drafts, we started running with the concept, using both Mal's wings and the shape of the lab coat for "fins". Runaway To The Stars's Bug Ferrets also provided some inspiration (particularly in the face - if you click the link, those mandibles might start looking very familiar).

We also took some amount of inspiration from theveryworstthing's REMwolf series, particularly Laika and The Morriss Dragon, though a lot of the particularly body-horror-y and sillhouette-breaking effects we might have wanted to include in a more detailed piece got nixed by a lack of time. We cannot take the duration of the entire tournament to draw one Round 1 contestant, unfortunately. Even if we wish we could've gotten a bit more detailed, and we very much would've liked to tinker with working in some design elements akin to Sea Legs or Guard Dog or Biology Lab, we're very nearly a full month overdue by now. We have other contestants to paint, and so we must move on.

I have a post lined up about my latest finished SaH doll. But it’s taking just far too long to finish. So I thought I would make a different post in the meantime. Getting ya’ll up to speed with some of my SaH digital art. Starting with a piece I finished just now VISUAL KEI MULORI for @32girassoisdevangogh !

Hope she looks alright. I should have done more research before jumping straight into it. Ever since I discovered pen stabilisation inking became way more enjoyable. I just have to have a sketch I made on paper underneath because unless it’s something simple like the things in the panels and the petals then it’s not going to end well. Let’s just say that.

I first learned (maybe somewhere else before that but this is what I remember) of Visual Kei I would say was in a Rainbow High Review of sorts by Negative Legend on Youtube. She mentioned it would be neat if more dolls would represent this subculture. I looked it up and personally didn’t like it.

Well. Things are different now. I heard the calling of the darkness. I’m a fan of the trad goth style and Visual Kei looks awesome. Thanks for reminding me of this subculture with this art trade.

Now for something more cheerful. It’s the return of my OC Shiho Tenshi. I don’t know why I started thinking about them again. But here we go.

They’re wearing an outfit inspired by Princess Knight, a revolutionary shoujo manga. I started watching the anime when I was in England and it’s so fun! Also the main character is what we would call now nonbinary. Although you could make an argument that Prince Sapphire is trans masc. It’s thought to say.

Yeah. I don’t have much to add to this. Just happy to draw them again.

What’s this? A new OC alert?!

It’s a white rabbit everyone! We always need more of those. Inspired by 1920’s I Shanghai Art Nouveau posters it’s Ai Yuen. She’s a silent film actress and a spy. Originally I wanted her to be a spy for the Weasel Empire but now I think she should be a spy for Flower Hill. She seduces the animals she spies on. Tricking them into thinking that she’s just some bimbo you can spill all your secrets to.

She’s a mean girl only out for herself. She knows she’s talented and looks good. She knows her worth. Not going to lie, major lesbian vibes. I don’t know why. She grew up relatively poor and climbed that ladder. Getting rid of everyone who stood in her way. Deep down she’s really lonely. But she hates the idea of being vulnerable and needing others so she pushes it down with opium and other drugs.

Then she meets Shiho Tenshi. Someone with a similar background to her. But instead of being all alone they have their big acting troupe that’s like a found family. Ai slowly starts to open up. Thinking to herself that she’s only getting closer to Shiho because of her mission. A mission that would lead to her getting killed by Flower Hill if her true feelings were to get out.

She’s one of the OCs I made just because why not. I don’t have any ideas what to do with her. Well. Maybe I could make a doll of her later down the line? Let me know what you think.

Starting off with the Synchro Dimension, Hamelin uses a Yang Zing deck, and has two "secret roommates" (read: pet rats) that she named after Ba Xia and Jiaotu, her two main Extra Deck Aces.

She switches gears to Magikeys when in her Phantom Thief persona, who has a deep grudge against...

Jackie, who uses Swordsouls, an archetype that carries much meaning to her. Her belt is based on QXYL's sword(?)tail(?) and her unwavering devotion to an estranged childhood friend makes her a worthy wielder of the sword the card is based on, which represents integrity.

Jackie works for Fleur, who uses Aromages. As someone who is very at home behind a chessboard, she doesn't like dueling that much as it has too many uncontrollable factors, such as luck.

Moving to the Standard Dimension, first up is Cider and her Myutants! What? Her duel disk? Oh, that's because she's originally from [REDACTED]

Weird, how did we end up in the Xyz Dimension? Anyway, Alcidis uses Witchcrafters, and before you ask me how he Xyz summons with this deck, my answer is that he splashes in Dogmatika cards from his bestie:

Arte, who uses Dogmatika! When she duels, it's like a switch flips, and she looks a lot like her brother... It scares her teacher, because it reminds him of a very unpleasant memory...

Viol used Mermails during the war, but after the events of the show he upgrades his ace from Abyss Dweller to a... custom monster... that I haven't designed yet lmao sigh one day i will

Back in Academia, Faye and Fence shared a Dream Mirror deck, each memorising one side of the deck as they struggled too much to memorise and use a single deck by themselves. After they moved to Standard, Fence picked up Normal Pendulums and Faye uses a custom Xyz archetype that lets her transform like her favourite masked riders!

Last but not least, Fuschia with his Despians! He picked it because he loves red and purple, but more importantly, he found the love of his life... Aluber the Dogmatic. Yeah, he's one of those weirdos with a duel monster crush (same tbh)

He'd never admit he had a crush on Aluber during the events of ARC-V, but post-canon he unabashedly has a giant poster of him (pictured above) in his room.

hi hi hi, everynyan !! :3 feels like i haven't been here in months ... anyhow, giving u guys a little update about my life ^_^ (long text under cut ! )

ok, so. long story short, i decided to attend our year end party !! i know i said a lot of things about why i'm not attending but hey ! people change, even in just a couple of days wink wink. few days after i posted my long rant (?) about it, my life decided to miraculously get a bit better ... like i'm not even kidding !! my days have been going well, i've been getting the things that i want ?? like new headphones and journal, my test score are also really good !! ... and remember the “issue” about my classmate making a r/ape joke and their friends talking bad about me? guess what, my seatmate— who's one of their friends and the person who didn't speak to me for weeks and kept on moving chairs because they didn't want to sit next to me— suddenly started speaking to me again. i was genuinely shocked ??? like during out genchem class they were leaning close to my periodic table and asking me questions about the lesson ... they never do that !!!! shocking as it is, i'm glad they talked to me again. i don't want to have any other beef or issue with my classmates, big or small. ( this is one of the reasons why i decided to attend )

ok topic change ! since i have a new journal, i decided to write my daily life again !! i also started including five minute drawings of still life figures :3 they're not good at all, they're just items that i look for in out house and i draw them on the spot under a couple of minutes ! i want to develop a habit where i try to draw everyday :) it'll also help me get a better understanding about perspective, lighting, and proportions. i want to try drawing outside too but the journal is a too big for my purse .. ( i don't like wearing big bags when i go out casually )

ok back on the year end party topic. i finished altering the dress that i'm going to wear at the party today !! it's a baby pink satin dress with three bows— two on each sleeve, and one in the middle— and it's ruffly !! the sleeves are puffy too :3 i also just finished steam ironing it :D going to pair it with my loafers, some socks, and a white ( sort of ) puffy bag ! i choose it because it matches with the puffiness of the sleeves. ^_^ going to paint my nails pink to match it hihi ( using the nail polish that reminds me of haru's blush >_< ) still don't know what i'm going to do with my hair ...

ok topic change !! about the requests for the event, i finished the sketches for most of the requests !!! everyone's persona / oc is so so so cute !!! genuinely had so much fun drawing them :') can't believe i'm friends with the prettiest people alive. the bodies are a still a bit hard for me but i'll be fine. i also had so much fun thinking of different poses with them and their f/o's :D there's one request where they're wearing matching onesies with their f/o .. so so cute🐧 going to study how to digitally paint so that i can color them this week !!

For my Filipino Friend's National Dog Day Drawing

Looks really cute of how Spot, Rita and Aace got to be with Dogday for National Dog Day. Even Rita is great is helping with dogs whenever they're in need.

And for my Filipino Friend's Sketch Comic

It has been a while since you've done a sketch drawing, and same goes for me, because right now, i'm doing some sketches and then finish them on my Cellphone or IPad by editing out by adding the line art and color at the same time, which i know that's what our A-Pal does. But when you made the comic, ever since our A-Pal did that pic with Unikitty back in 2018, i was wanting to another drawing where we had Nicole, Richard and Anais get attack by the Giant Chicken from Family Guy because otherwise the three should no better into falsely accusing their sons. But if Panini saw Anais badly hurt by the Giant Chicken, maybe she can fight the Giant Chicken as well. But normally Mung Daal and Truffles are the only two who can also fight the Giant Chicken. And it'll be something the Giant Chicken would do is take a break from fighting Peter Griffin and fight someone else for a change.

And two Reponses for both my A-Pal and my Filipino Friend.

First off, i sometimes do drawings when i was in school and i can sometimes draw at work during my break or lunch time. But even one day when i get a better job somewhere else, i'm sure i'll find a great one that is perfect for me on writing, illustrating or even do Coding and voice acting. And i can sometimes draw when i'm over at social club anytime i don't want to craft something, and i can sometimes craft on something that i would like or am interested in.

I have remember Pig, Goat, Banana, Cricket. I wasn't a fan of that show myself, but i remember Phantomstrider has talked about it in Worst Nickelodeon shows since on the cartoon was ugly and gross, and that show was also trying to redo the Ren and Stimpy Style of how more Gross and Intense it is. But i do love We Bare Bears since it's a really good show on Cartoon Network, plus i also remember that my Aunt also likes that show too. When she used to be alive, we do talk about it anytime i used to hangout with my Aunt. And also, i know Shadow will be extra careful when he tries to avoid stepping through the flesh and the goo.

That sandwich does look really good to what our G-Pal got for his lunch. And when you mentioned "Shells" It sounds like you're thinking of Gas station and it also has a minimart. And i remember that Gas Station company ever since i was young "Shells" Because ever since the 90s, i always remember another Gas Station company called "Texaco" Which it's another Gas Station i remember since the 90s. And yeah i hope the Mochi taste really good. Since i never had one ever since my sister brought me home some Macaroons. Which are also pretty good, and i'm always about the sweet sugary taste which i'm sure our OCs would enjoy anytime they crave a sweet tooth. But i only went to a shop that sells Boba Tea, and i know my sister has tried Boba tea before.

i’ve just been catching up on your posts and why am i seeing people saying you’re leaving?!? 😭 but i’m so glad you clarified that you just need a break and i’m so sorry you have to go through that my love ♡ i just want to say if you really need a break then take it. you don’t have to write anything, and you don’t owe anyone anything. i think sometimes a slump is what we need to make us feel the yearning to do something that we love again because we’ll miss it eventually.

i guess may was a rough month for everyone. take your time to do selfcare for a whole week because may was an ass and i -too- wanna kick it in the butt for being the toughest and longest month so far. i know the ‘lack’ of interaction / appreciation for your writings lately can be discouraging and i totally get that. like sometimes it can feel as if a negative comment would be better than nothing, because at least ‘someone is acknowledging something that i made’. but i’m so happy so many people came to give you the love and support and it proves that you’re so loved and appreciated because your works really helped people to find comfort and have a peaceful time even just for 10 minutes of their (mine too) 24 hour long and tiring day.

oooh… and i want to tell you about a bit of my life lately… remember that i was going to yoongi’s concert and it was my first ever concert and you told me to forget everything except my ticket and powerbank? yea… my powerbank broke and i had to borrow this lovely lady’s 💀 i got a vip soundcheck and practically a barricade 🥹 i still can’t believe i got to see 1 of 7 of them right in front of my eyes 😭 i had so much fun and as an introvert -i hate crowded places so much and meeting so many people makes me anxious- i never thought i’d love concert as much as i did! but i’ll give it to yoongi and the lovely people i met, army 🫶🏻 because they’re the nicest people on earth istg. talking with armies online is so nice, but meeting so much of them in real life was soooo much better. the whole time i saw them, my brain just went “wow… we really love the same person / band huh. the tannies are so loved. i love it here”. speaking of concert… i got tickets for coldplay too! 😭praying that they will perform my univers live 🕯️🪐✨

and here we are in june! let’s have fun with tannies because it’s our month! i started this month still with a neverending college final project *booing and throwing tomatoes*. but i’m so happy because i finally found the type of pencil i’ve been searching for soooo long that i got out of my year long drawing slump… and i’ve been practicing again with drawing jungkook’s nose because i love it so much and i wanna *boop* it. and as i was sketching, i was watching the festa livestreams the whole day. a therapeutic experience :’] i miss them soooo much ❤️‍🩹

as i’m writing this, i’m eating unripe mangoes with salt and chili. reminds me of that drabble where jungkook, his abs, and oc went on a beach vacation ♡ OH! and the latest drabble!! i wanna be loved that way sooooo bad 🥲 and so steamy😮‍💨 and the bathtub scene… oh artemis i love how you can always always make the most out of the very intimate places in the house of lovers… the kitchen, the bedroom, and the bathroom. EVEN THE WALK IN CLOSET FFS. it’s just how good you are with what you do and you use your heart to dictate the words to your fingers.

Concept Design [The Sacrifice]

In this post I will be describing the design process behind my concept sheet for The Sacrifice character in my project.

As a reminder, here is my moodboard for the Sacrifice.

Unlike the first one where I made each part one at a time, this time I made all the base linearts at once. I feel this helps with consistant style and also gives me more choice on what to do without overwhelming me. With the text, I decided to make it look like it was scratched into wood or stone with a knife, keeping the lines straight to help sell the theme.

To start, I began by making the side view. While making the bun, I realised that the basic design was similar to my pirate in our first project, so I looked on pinterest for some facial scars to see if there was anything that fit my character.

Eventually I found this artwork of someones OC and I knew I just had to add it to my character. I cut the lip and added the gum undenreath with some teeth, adding texture with my pencil brush. It added an aspect of mystery to the character as it makes you wonder where he got it. Was it inflicted by the cult? Self inflicted? Born with it? It makes him a little more unique so I kept the idea. I also like gore and body horror, so this fills that slot too.

Here I had finished the front view. My studies on Wednesday really helped with the face, so I'm very glad I spent the day worknig on that. I kept his irises small to show that he was scared, which I imagine he would be if he was assigned to be the Sacrifice for a cult. Once again I added the lip/cheek tear too.

Here is the fullbody finished. I am aware the anatomy isn't perfect for the fullbody, but it was more about the design than accurate anatomy. I gave him an oversized ripped t-shirt or dress and added some shackles to his wrists and ankles. I then added the ritual markings that you can see on The Follower, although his are way more obvious because he has barely any clothes. Underneath his shirt you can see a faint outline of his ribs because I wanted to get the message across he was malnourished/frail and I wasn't sure how to do that accurately so I just added some ribs to show he hasn't eaten in a long time. His face/head was a little difficult because it made him look child-like, I think it was the size, so I adjusted the size a bit and I htink he at least looks closer to an adult.

Here I started colouring. I used the purple in my original colour palette and coloured in the eye, before moving to the front view. I made the hair a really dark brown because my hair is really dark brown so I'm a little biased. I then coloured the gum in his lip/cheek tear as well as the teeth and I used the red in my original colour palette in the muscle. It's both an accurate colour and it is also the main ritual colour of the cult, so it kind of gives a hidden meaning that his connection with the cult is always inside him, even without their ritual markings.

Here I coloured the side view. The colour of the lips was a little more obvious here but nothing else really changed. It was difficult choosing an accurate skin colour because he's unhealthy so I wanted him to be really pale, but using a pink undertone of the cream still makes him look healthy? So when I make the reference sheet, I think I'll experiment with a blue or yellow or maybe even green undertone to make him look properly unhealthy.

Then finally I coloured the fullbody. I used the cream colour from my original colour palette and filled in the ritual markings and the shackles. I also added some purple corruption to his hands like that one imagine from my moodboard, but I'm not 100% on the idea. I'll get some feedback from my friends and see if they think I should keep it or not.

Designing this one was fun. I way preferred this brush over the last brush I used for sketching and my method of making all the lineart first really helped me keep focused. His design is probably the design I like the most in my head right now, but maybe (hopefully?) that will change later on when I design The Leader and The God. I'll do some more research before I work on those so they can stand out and look even better than how they would with no research.

Callsign: Belantik / Orion (based on the constellation) he doesnt mind whichever bc both mean the same thing, just in Malay and English

He/him, pansexual, 5'10 and Malaysian. He has tanned skin with hazel eyes (i suck at colouring so if he looks off, im sorry 💀)

He likes to paint his nails black or any other dark colours and wear rings when not on mission

He has a scar on his neck from when he was tortured really badly bc his captors wanted to silence his screams

Sucks to be them, he can still talk but not for too long/too much bc it hurts so most of the time he doesnt talk unless he needs to and this made him looks like that one scary higher-up that will stare you down--and he will--but the point is that he. Will. Get. His. Point. Across. No. Matter. What.

Orion who was only working with SC temporarily for quick cash but they somehow wormed their way into his heart and he eventually signed his life away to the devil (Graves, that smug man) and found himself being in a whole ass PMC after years of working alone/being vigilant

He took some time to adjust being in a team again and trusting them with his back because ✨trauma✨ but once he got the hang of it, he is fiercely protective of the men and will stop at nothing for them

Orion who wakes up every morning very dazed and just smiles at whatever the men are doing, no matter how chaotic they are while he sips at his tea (he rarely drinks coffee bc it makes him sleepier) has a sketch of this below‼️

Orion (a Captain) who would make sure his men come back from their mission alive. Banged up to the hell and back but alive and able to get back on their feet while he hovers over them whenever possible to make sure they rest properly

Las Almas absolutely devastated him and he isolated himself for some time bc it reminded him of bad times, felt like he didnt do good enough for his men and Graves

Orion who grumbles with a scowl on his face at how stupid the men are while he just stands and watches them, not even trying to stop their antics (because he likes seeing how happy they are, missions are hard enough and hes not stopping them from having fun)

Anytime he grumbles or shit talks someone, he would revert back to his native language which is Malay. Examples of what he would say below :>

"Ni lah dia budak2 zaman sekarang..." (Kids nowadays I swear...) [exasperated & fond]

"Orang dah kata jangan buat, dia buat jugak. Kan dah kena." (I said to not do it and they still did it. Serve you right.) [amused]

"Susah lah aku kerja ngan orang2 bodoh cam si botak ni, beruban aku sial." (It's so damn hard working with dumbasses like this bald fucker, im gonna grow white hair atp) [angry]

"Pale hotak kau." (Are you fucking dumb.) [deadpan]

"Commander tersayang aku ni... bongok gak." (My beloved Commander... just as idiotic) [fond]

"Aku benci mat saleh, babi pahal sedap sangat suara ngan accent??" (I hate white ppl [slang, but in this he actually just meant non-Malaysians] why the hell are their voices and accents so damn nice??) [frustrated & flustered]

Spiderpony Hunter

Here's Spiderpony Hunter!! Heavily inspider by Pony Hunter as you can probably tell sagfsahjfd this was also the start of me rlly using spider legs as a reocurring theme. Also way too many of these have pony heads. Erm!!! U can also see my OC The Spludge over there!! It was around this point I was considering making a design bracket tournament, though I was mostly joking about it with myself, had I known for sure I woulda done it I probably would've moved The Spludge a bit so I could crop them out xD But!! Yeha!!! This is also where you'll start to see the tarp/trash bag become more reocurring. I wasn't sure if I wanted it to be a tarp or a trash bag at first as well so it's not shiny at all so I've decided in hindsight it's a tarp. Was there anything more I wanted to say? I don't remember? Look at the arms 🫵🏻 that coloring where I give them a solid color and then the occasional dark spot. Remember that 🫵🏻🫵🏻🫵🏻 I shoulda mentioned that at one of the two Human Hunter designs honestly. Anyway next picture let's go

Ostrich Hunter

They're an ostrich. They're pretty much just. Trashbag Hunter but Different. Also I spent like. A little more than 5 minutes on this honestly maybe probably???? I was doing a thumbnail sketch for the UPCOMING Trash Hunter and I almost died laughing bc the neck I did in the thumbnail reminded me of an ostrich. I was in class so laughing aloud was not an option. Drawing Trash Hunter as an ostrich however, very very much was. I wound up changing the neck of the upcoming Trash Hunter bc I didn't like it. I wound up using it even later though because I did like it after all. And yes, yes they have shovels for wings. Why??? Why?!?!?!!! Science isn't about why! It's about why NOT!!!! Something something safe science something something safe door that WON'T kick your BUTT ON THE WAY OUT!!!!!!1!1!1111111 😤

Creature Hunter

Honestly I don't like the name I gave this one but I'm in too deep sihg. Anyway!! This is the previously ostrich-necked Trash Hunter I mentioned earlier!! You can actually barely see the text "Ostrich Hunter" by Creature Hunter's tail!! Idk what compelled me to tie rope around them. But I did!!! And also this is when I started drawing more like, segmented bug-like bodies. Also you see the cog for the eye? That's an idea I've had for ages. At some point I wanna draw a sort of trash sculpture Trash Hunter with cogs for eyes and the cogs move. This is also the first one where I made like a reference for how big Copper is next to them!! I think I just wanted to imagine what Trash Hunter would look like staring down at them. Also I just love the idea that they're friggen huge.

Spider Hunter + Gore Hunter

Ok!!! These two!!! You will find them at the VERY BOTTOM OF THIS POST and I am gonna be placing them UNDER A CUT. Why? This is because Spider Hunter is straight up a spider!! And Gore Hunter is. Well! Gory! Neither of them are photorealistic but you can still clearly tell that they're a spider/that there are guts! Please keep in mind! I will remind before the cut as well!

Stringy Hunter

More segmented bodies!!! More spider appendages!!! More trash arms!!!! More cog eyes!!!!! Moooooooooooree!!!!!!

For this one I also gave them teeth made of pieces of plastic :3 I believe it was this one that I showed off at DND and someone said "I'll see you in my nightmares little buddy" which, yayayaayyayyy!!!! Honestly when I was drawing Creature Hunter I started getting annoyed bc no matter what Trash Hunter just turned out a little too cute. So I finally started getting in a direction that could actually be a bit unsettling!!!!! YIPPEEEE!!!! Also honestly I didn't rlly notice this but I started taking a liking to a nice jaggedy dark tail! And clearly to the stringyness-

Droopy Hunter

Anyway!!! This one's droopy :3 like my OC you saw earlier, The Spludge!! Honestly I just needed to make a droopy runny Trash Hunter, but I didn't wanna make them a pile. Their feet melt into the landfill, though. Hard to tell where the landfill starts and Trash Hunter ends, right? :P

Anyway!!! I have some height comparison charts!!! They're measured by their highest fixed point, that is to say their head for most of them, but their butt for Spider Hunter and for Droopy Hunter. (Don't worry, I didn't forget Spider and Gore, you'll see them later.)

I decided to measure them like this bc it made the most sense and it'd be real unfair if the Trash Hunters who have trash arms could just raise them real high and be EVEN taller. Anyway!!! Trash Hunters are in green, and then we have Copper for scale in orange :3

Spider Hunter

Yeah. Pretty fucking huge!! They have marbles for eyes. I wanted to do something more with eye marbles.... I guess I forgot.... Got too caught up in the frenzy of the cogs.... Oh well I can always draw more Trash Hunter designs!! :3

Gore Hunter

Their skull is a moose skull btw!! Bc I'm from Norway and I'm like mooses teehee!!! Anyway, at one point I was talking to my enemy and I was complaining about not getting Trash Hunter creepy enough, and I can't remember if I wanted to draw them gory or if they suggested I draw them gory??? But honestly I think it was me????? Bc I've been thinking about like, organs, and organs in a Trash Hunter context--- so either way I drew them with organs! And I started playing around with textures a bit with them, some parts are like sorta fluffy looking-- right??? right???????

First though I wanna introduce you to all the designs I've done so far!!

All of these have a unique name for voting purposes, but don't worry about remembering them all I'll show pictures of them every time!

Human Hunter 1

Starting off simple, this is Human Hunter 1! The OG, the classic, my pfp! Honestly I kinda rushed this design bc I made this blog on a whim, so I had to make the design super quick! I spent like a little over an hour on this, and I had only really spent 15 extra minutes beforehand thinking about their design, so that's around 1 and a half hour total...... Idk how long I spent on the others. Anyway, basically their top half is pretty human looking, EVERYTHING about them is as green as I managed to get it (green is Their Color to me) and then their bottom half is basically meant to just be a trashy sludge that sort of melts and merges with their landfill. It's hard to tell where the landfill starts and where Trash Hunter ends. Oh yeah- and I have like 3 drawings of them in this style, their skin tone varies a LOT between each drawing lol. um. you haven't seen. the third one btw haha. it's totally not of me and trash hunter holding hands why would you even say that

Human Hunter 2

Alright, this is my second "human" Trash Hunter design. I wasn't quite happy with my first one, so I wanted to change it to something more like this. However!! I never actually got to finish my design until I watched something that changed the way I thought forever. I finished this drawing just this monday actually, because I'd forgotten I had no finished drawing of Human Hunter 2. I want you to remember that giant grapply arm they have and those spider legs. Also, you'll notice there's a line next to them, and it says "Cop" under. That's how tall Copper would be (per my headcanons) next to the various Trash Hunter designs. They really vary in size. For reference, I headcanon Copper as 152 cm, or 5 feet. I'll add a size chart in at the end- they won't be 100% accurate to the pictures but it'll be in the same area at least.

Trashbag Hunter

Ok this. This is where my life changed. I watched the hodgepodge audio new year's patreon video and got friggen mentioned. Hi Raddagher if you're seeing this I'm still not normal about Trash Hunter. I started feeling a bit insecure about my designs like I'd been boring about them so I was trying to redeem myself. When I started imagining Trash Hunter as a fucking trash bag with grillspyd- er- collapsible grilling skewer thingies- for legs. And holy FUCK I could not get the image out of my head it's hillarious and adorable. Relisten to the episode and imagine Trash Hunter like this TRUST ME /nf

Either way, this is where I started to expand my horizons. The trash bag and the grillspyd are sort of reocurring atp. Also this was my Discord pfp for a while, now I've changed it. Might change it back eventually honestly? I don't do that. I don't repeat profile pictures ever. Ok I might have done that at some point. But for now my pfp stays the same. This is my PFP over on bluesky though!

Anyway this is the cutest shit I've ever imagined- the drawings that follow are mostly random doodles I've made at D&D or during class. BUT FIRST!!!

Pony Hunter

Ok so I play ponytown. I played a bit ages ago and then I almost forgot it existed, then my friendo kept showing off what they were doing on there and I'd seen a few vids on it recently and long story short I've made 16.5 new ponies on there and most of them are Hodgepodge Audio themed. Ponytown Pony Hunter doesn't usually wear that turtle but in this screenshot they do. The drawn version shows a bit more how I actually view them though. Oh and that IS a croissant behind their ear, thanks for asking!! (I've been waiting to say that for months, I'm overjoyed now)

Their tail is a compact mirror btw! And that tarp they have in game, those are actually wings, teehee! Oh and I forgot to say why they have croissants behind their ears- basically I was looking at the horns and realized one set of horns was kinda curvy in a croissant-y way. So I was like eh, heck it. Croissants.

Seagle Hunter

This is where the chaos started. I was at DND, and we were on a quest to help a god. We met a seagull who was definitely not a fucking seagull. I ended up getting downed and when we were like what, 5 hp away from killing whatever creature was wrecking our shit, our 2 remaining teammates fucking left us. My character Thomoras only survived because one of our teammates asked the seagull to intervene, and the seagull fucking killed the creature. Thank you, seagull. I called you Karl but I never got your real name. I'm sure you wouldn't have answered if I asked. Anyway!! All that talk about seagulls that session got me thinking "Seagull. Trash Hunter. Trash Hunter seagull." this is an accurate depiction of how I think Always. So yeah I drew them as a seagle (<- that's how I prefer writing seagull) and I was like hell yes let's draw them as more silly things because I focus better when I draw!

So I started asking people for ideas.

Goblet Hunter

And this is officially were I lost it I think. I mean, I learned to disregard canon with this. I have a few different Little Guys as I call them, and they're definitely not canon at all, BUT THEY'RE SO CUUUUTE HELLO!!! 😭😭 I asked my DND buddy to give me a random item and so I drewed this bc they said goblet....... I fucking love these so much honestly

Soup Hunter

I love soup. What more is there to say? They call me the soup enjoyer. I switch in whenever we're about to have soup. I soup my faves. I spam the soup emoji (🥣) when I get too excited for words. It had to be done! It just had to! If you want you can imagine the soup is garbage soup. Or you know those witch potions a lot of people made as a child? Using acorns and grass and flowers and whatever you could find? Could be that too. Or maybe it's brogle soup becos it's my fave and they are my fave :)

Perfectly Generic Object Hunter / PGO Hunter

It had to come eventually. The Homestuck reference. My friend said for me to make them cube and I was like "I heard Homestuck, yes? Homestuck it is."

So yeha they're a green cube now :3

Egg Hunter

They're an egg now. They're just a huge fucking egg and they roll around. They just roll around.

Art Block tips that helped me

 I’ve recently experienced art block after 3 or so months of overcoming my last one. Thankfully this block only lasted a few days thanks to some things I’ve observed and noted down from the previous time. So I’m sharing these few tips in hopes that it might help someone get unstuck :D!

First and foremost if you’re tired, sad or anxious don’t be surprised that you can’t make art, go and take care of yourself by treating yourself with kindness and patience, the sketchbooks and canvases will wait for you :)

Separate art studies from the creative time:  When you do art studies you’re there to focus on specific things, learn and understand how things work so you can apply them later in your art. Studies take a lot of energy and focus and are the opposite of the creative "flow” of making your own pieces. If you combine the two the results are either unfocused studies or stiff drawings. When you sit down at your desk ask yourself “Do I want to learn something new or do I want to create something of my own?”

When you have an idea don’t be afraid of being messy: Let’s say you want to make a picture of several cats kolo dancing in the moonlight. How do you go about doing this? Well since you came up with the idea you already have a vague image in your mind, sketch it out with simple shapes, stick figures, circle and spheres etc Don’t worry about cat anatomy, or the dancer’s moves, sketch out the essence of it. This method removes the need to be perfect or accurate. 

Ok after the messy sketch then what? Well now that you have sketched out the essence of your idea (and hopefully had fun doing so) now you go on to look for references! You put the creative process on pause and you can do a few brief studies if you need to: anatomy, color schemes, values, poses. Pick out a few of your favorites but don't obsess over them, they are a guide, a tool.

You know much more than you think. You’ve probably been drawing for a few years now. You’ve probably done some studies and drawn more than one type of subject. Then you have already internalized some of that information. I used to be obsessed with capturing the minute detail of the subject, and not be able to draw ANYTHING without reference. Instead of a useful tool, references became another obstacle to my creativity. That’s perfectionism my friend, and that’s no good. Here is an exercise a good friend of mine offered: Draw a few characters, animals and objects from imagination. Make sure that the subjects have no personal value to you (no ocs for example) so that if you make a mistake you won’t feel bad about it. Make the process relaxed and comfortable, pour a nice cup of joe, listen to your favorite music ... You will notice that you do indeed know how to draw some things without reference, and it’ll help with your confidence. 

The more you do studies the more you understand This seems evident but the more you understand your subject the freer you can be and the easier it’ll be to draw it from imagination in the future. If you really struggle with something to the point of frustration (as in you can’t get it right even with reference) It means you have to study it. Have a study list, for example: hands, perspective, color theory etc. And one of those days you want to study pick something from the list, and look for videos on youtube or useful sites like line of action etc. Only study one thing at the time. You can go from studying hands to studying arms since they’re more immediately connected, but you can’t study hands and then jump to learning perspective right after. Trust me you can learn perfectly fine with the resources online, and I’m sure you’re clever enough to do it :D

Mistakes don’t mean you “suck”  I’ve noticed that the two most common causes for art block are perfectionism and lack of self-confidence.  The two can often go in tandem which is worse :’D But let me remind you of something, you can fix your piece along the whole process. Use erasers, lasso tools, liquify , select, paint it all over etc If something looks off to you then you also know deep inside how to fix it. Useful ways to see what clunks: flip canvas horizontally (helps with placement, proportions), turn the image to grayscale (helps to check values and where your eye tends to look), look at your image in thumbnail size and ask yourself if it’s clear, see the pose’s silhouette and ask yourself if you can tell what the character is doing etc. Don’t fret, everything can always be fixed :)

Perfectionism, sometimes it stops you before you begin Perfectionism causes you to overwork a piece, it makes you draw less, it makes art stressful, it brings insecurity. Let’s remove it with a simple exercise. It can be combined with the “draw things from imagination” once you’ve drawn something you like: dont do line art, don’t shade it, keep it as simple and crude as possible and then...post it. Yes, post it. You’re not at your best? You’re only human, this will help you embrace that very human side of you. You make mistakes. So what? The more mistakes you make the more you know what you need to study and the better at art you become. Mistakes are there to show us what we need to learn. See them as another tool and not a sign of failure.

Make the process as enjoyable as possible: You like art. You love drawing. Never forget this. Otherwise why are you drawing if you don’t enjoy it? It’s easy to fall prey to the mentality of those relatable memes that “art= suffering” or “I can’t even draw the other eye”. No no no my friends, these messages are fueling your insecurities instead of overcoming them. Let me tell you what, art is fun. It is. Art is fun, because I decided to make it fun again. And you should decide on that too. Personally I adore lineart but my hand-eye coordination is lacking to do it digitally, so....I just skipped it. Yes. I skipped it. I do the sketch, I clean it up a bit and then jump onto color which I adore. It allowed me to draw more and more freely. When I draw I listen to music, make strokes with the rhythm, I take breaks often and I drink my favorite iced teas. If you don’t like coloring do it in grayscale, if you love lineart then do that etc It doesn’t mean you won’t learn your weak points in the future with studies and practice, but you won’t let your weaknesses prevent you from drawing at all. No no, you won’t let them. You draw because you want to, despite of them.

Don’t wait for inspiration, provoke it  Inspiration is not a divine and capricious muse. You make inspiration. It’s easy just collect all the things you like, music, artists, objects, characters, animals, patterns, plants etc Make boards on pinterest or similar sites, combine things you like. You like suits? You like birds? You can draw a bird in a suit, or a bird-inspired suit design, there is frankly a lot of ideas that can spring up from little things like these.

When a project stops being enjoyable either pause it for now or move on to the next thing. Pieces aren’t precious. They’re not “the one time I got x right” they are one of many. This advice goes mainly to hobbyists who can afford the luxury of passing to a new project. I have a WIP of a character who is overly complicated (I enjoy a challenge from time to time) sitting for half a month. I sometimes come back to it and add something... but as soon as it starts to create discomfort and insecurity instead of enjoyment I move onto something else. In the meantime I created 3 or 4 new pieces. If I had waited on finishing that piece I would have been severely creatively and physically exhausted. The art comes from you, not inspiration. The more art you make the better you become.
