hyoutei vs rikkai p1 rant / liveblog-ish
aaAAAAAAaaaAAAAAA
im a biased Rikkai fan so ngl im disappointed that the way it’s set up so far it looked like Hyoutei is gonna win... (what with all the flashbacks and portraying it from Atobe’s POV)
but! the succession element is very strong here and it seems like Hiyoshi, Ohtori, and Kabaji are definitely growing into the leadership role more than Kirihara (Yukimura hasn’t relinquished the captaincy yet?) so... far enough I guess. Are they... trying to retcon Tamagawa in or something? But still, why tf would you have him play his debut match here?
Jackal’s line about Rikkai no longer being invincible - ouch :( I guess that’s why it doesn’t feel as OOC for Rikkai to mix up their line up here? throwing caution to the wind and taking risks to evolve - a Hail Mary move, but better than risking defeat.
although hmmm... would atobe really suggest a match he can’t win? would yukimura really accept a match he can’t win? (idk what im trying to say)
Jackal giving up his doubles spot to Tamagawa // Yanagi giving up his U17 spot to Kirihara?
...why does it feel like Rikkai D2 has never played together in this combo before lol
but yeah it feels more realistic that OshiGaku would win
HOLY F*CK WHATTTTTTT
someone animated my tenipuri otp playing doubles? 🥺🥺
🥺🥺 <-- me throughout the sanayana d1 match...
maybe I remembered Rikkai as being more OP than they are but... 2/3 of the Rikkai troika winning 6-4 against Ohtori and Kabaji? was pretty impressed by Ohtori’s game-making but kinda wanted to see Yanagi doing the same (cause if he could control Devil Akaya why not Sanada?)... and im not sure why Yanagi was surprised at Kabaji copying them? (’data being rewritten’) or maybe it’s more that he didn’t expect the speed and accuracy of the copying coupled with Ohtori’s leading / supporting
omg sanayana used the same trick that yanakiri did in the nationals d2 🥺🥺
lmao my bias is showing so hard here but... finally yanagi has one match that he actually wins lol
okay. there is no heterosexual explanation for S3 that was actually a doubles match in disguise
wHERE IS NIOU
did I miss something but where Is He??? did he leave Rikkai post-U17??? what??
(was secretly waiting to see if Yagyuu was Niou illusioned the whole time)
yeah okay with S3 portraying Shishido so sympathetically (although Yagyuu is an asshole) it’s pretty obvious Hyoutei’s gonna win aren’t they :<<
hmmmmmmmMMMMMmMMM
okay but hyoutei second years working together as a team! aaaaa Hiyoshi and Ohtori making decisions and valuing Kabaji’s input!
and also gratuitous shots of my Rikkai troika 🥺🥺

2020 CREATOR WRAP: FAVOURITE WORKS
Rules: It’s time to love yourselves! Choose your 5 (or so) favorite works you created in the past year (fics, art, edits, etc.) and link them below to reflect on the amazing things you brought into the world in 2020. Tag as many writers/artists/etc. as you want (fan or original) so we can spread the love and link each other to awesome work
Tagged by @hawopro. Thanks, Mii!
In 2020, I participated in fandom for the first time in nine years (for all of two months! here’s hoping that that’s not the last of it!). Funnily enough, it was Tezuka Kunimitsu who made me stop actively fandom-ing, and it was Tezuka Kunimitsu who brought me back. I am a simple, simple girl.
Anyway! Onto my five favorite works!
courage of stars (this is where i go my own way), a TezuFuji-oriented genfic, set just after Tezuka left for Germany. I wrote this in a fit of inspiration and surprisingly I... like it? I enjoyed exploring the challenges that Fuji faced after Tezuka left, trying to find a new meaning in tennis and finding that he’s been looking at it the wrong way all along.
Mu Siyang’s Frostbite-inspired gifset, made for his birthday. Frostbite is a tenipuri fanfic written by two_if_by_sea in 2004, and it's unforgettable. It’s the definitive Tezuka character piece for me, so it’s only fitting that I included it in my tribute for Tezuka’s birthday! Also, XBB looks so gorgeous in this set TT_TT
in a single touch, a Muzhuo soulmate AU. What can I say? There’s something really comforting about soulmate AUs. Uh, my first venture into romance, too, I think. I tried to make the soulmate thing happen gradually, with them actually having to learn to read each other before the soulmate connection quite forms (my ‘love takes effort’ agenda is showing haha) but it’s kind of hard to do in five scenes. Hopefully, next year my romance-writing ability will improve!
Tezuka Kunimitsu’s Golden Age 314 gifset, again made for his birthday. This one took some css coding ahem, unconventional techniques. But I like the effect! Also, I adore the Golden Age 314-Genius 151 parallel--Tezuka failed to keep his promise back then, but now he’s not gonna fail again. After all, he has no regrets left--he’s already completed everything he’s set out to do.
Thank you for supporting us, and Seigaku, or, why Tezuka put Fuji after him in their singles lineup for the first (and last) time in the entire manga: a meta. In which I rambled about protective!Fuji, about trust, and about choosing to grow as a person, because someone else needs you to.
And that’s a wrap! I also worked on quite a few Chinapuri AU ideas that I liked (the Cabin Fic! CEO AU! Kingdom AU!) but since they’re unpublished and unfinished... well. Maybe they’ll make the list next year?
I hope you enjoyed my works this year! Tagging @zaskiaz as a fellow returnee-from-fandom-hiatus, if you want to, haha.

A3! Act 3 Episode 9 Summary
Please read through this note before you start reading the summary!
whhhhew, finally finished episode 9 and THE EMOTIONS ARE ROLLING-😭😭
but ofc being the maniac that i am ive decided to provide a full summary of episode 9 for those who are interested!
Be warned that this is MAJOR STORY SPOILERS so i would recommend you be at least finished act 2 and all the events leading up to it before you read this. Otherwise you’ll probably have a hard time understanding the full context of things.
The last note I want to make is that this won’t be a detail-for-detail summary! I still want to keep things decently vague so people can still have the joy of experiencing the story for themselves while still providing adequate information to clear up any confusions and speculations. This summary will basically be a rough outline of the story that highlights some of the major events that went on. This summary will follow the order of how the episode played out, all the events will be listed in order.
Ofc, if anybody has any specific questions regarding the story that they want clarified or just simply want to discuss episode 9: always feel free to shoot in an ask or dm me! I’m always happy to provide with information and/or rant about these precious boys!
Well, without further ado, here y’all go~~
WARNING: EXTREMELY LONG POST AND MAJOR SPOILERS AHEAD~
the new groups of people now are the following:
High schoolers- Yuki/Muku/Azami/Kumon
Yosei University- Juza/Tsuzuru/Tenma/Taichi
Amabi- Kazunari/Banri
Adult group is still adult group~~
Apparently Tenma’s parents decided it would be a good idea to let him attend university so it was decided on the spot that he would be going through exams. He had to get Chikage to tutor to barely scrape by passing bc of how busy he was. Taichi on the other hand....Tsumugi the GOAT-
Omi now works as a professional photographer through a job his friend introduced him to.
Masumi decided to go to Fuyou University which is Tasuku and Tsumugi’s old university to study. Misumi’s brother, Madoka, also studies there. Although Madoka does not look like it, he’s actually 19... I know...
Azami decided to attend the same high school as Kumon which warms my heart honestly bc it just showed how good of friends they’ve become <3~~ Here’s his new uniform look <333
not sure how i feel about the red hoodie but eh, boy can pull it off so it doesn’t matter aha~
Tumblr media
Guy is apparently opening up a new Zahra style bar with the help of the winter troupe members such as Homare who introduced him to an interior design company (same company that installed that brick wall in his room orz). Hisoka will also be helping out in Guy’s bar.
The entirety of Reni’s backstory (5 episodes in total) which describe his initial meeting with Yukio during high school to how they built Mankai together was described through the format of portraits (the autumn troupe signature). HIs backstories are basically just narrations of Act 3 1/2 if any of you read that when it was first posted.
Reni’s real name is apparently “Kamikizaka Reiji” and “Reni” is a nickname that Yukio gave him in high school bc Yukio thought that his real name was too hard to write out in kanji and pronounce lolol.
Reni keeps a journal which documents his time with Yukio (basically Act 3 1/2) in a safe in his office.
Kasumi’s nickname back in the day was apparently “Juriko”: stems from “Juliette” and “ko” which is a way to feminize someone’s name in Japanese. This was because he was the crossdresser that had to play Juliette in the OG spring troupe RomiJuri- heh.
Shifuto is now the new “top” in GOD Troupe after Tasuku and Haruto who got demoted.
FRIEND ANGST BETWEEN AZAMI AND SHIFUTO HNGHHH and that’s all I’m willing to say oop-
GOD Troupe challenged Mankai to an act-off once again and this time appointed Tsumugi as the lead and Tasuku to be in the play and the theme as “devil” and thus...Devil Tsumugi was born.
The company was initially debating on whether to accept the challenge or not but Tsumugi and Taichi desperately wanted to show Reni who they have become as an actor and prove him wrong on all the things he’s said to them. Basically, everyone who was casted for this play had their own reasons on why they wanted to act.
Misumi’s dad’s name is revealed to be “Kusumi” which literally means nine-points/sides and I- top 10 betrayals? I was certain that his name will have something to do with a square but apparently not-
Although it was briefly revealed during Sky Pirates, Misumi’s dad is the official script writer for GOD Troupe. However, it is shown here that he has absolutely no talent in writing so what he does is get Madoka to act as his ghostwriter and write for him.
Hence this birthed Madoka’s complex of wanting to write in his own free will and not under the control of his father. Since everything he writes gets “edited” by his father but everything his father edited gets rejected by Reni and so Madoka has to fix it himself anyways.
Returning to backstory, Reni revealed that Yukio legit went to visit Misumi’s grandpa (Hakkaku) as a senior high school student to ask him for a script. As a note, Hakkaku was already a very famous script writer at that time and age wise he is about what both their dads would be. Ofc he was refused many times but Yukio wouldn’t give up and would not stop pestering Hakkaku until he finally caved in.
Honestly I loved the autumn and winter troupe dynamic throughout this entire episode- just the way they supported Taichi and Tsumugi is just-
Kumon had to act as the mediator between Azami and Shifuto to try and recover their friendship and the entire process was hilarious.
Yukio and Reni were actually Yuzo and Kasumi’s high school seniors at Nanakusa High. Yuzo was the “ghost member” that was only member of drama club in-name only that was mentioned earlier.
NAMIKAWA DAISUKE’S VOICE IN KASUMI- *deaded counter x1* as a tiny side note: i realized half way through that Tezuka (Reni), Sanada (Yuzo), and Ootori (Kasumi) were in the same high school together bc of their seiyuus. This is for my TeniPuri fans out there haha~~
During their last performance in high school, Yukio and Reni got boycotted by the other junior members right before their play. Reni ended up forcing a reluctant Yukio to go at speak act out the monologue Hakkaku provided for them and everybody ended up being overwhelmed by Yukio’s performance.
This is what ended up making Reni dedicate his post high school life creating Mankai with Yukio, he wants to see Yukio act on stage again. He describes Yukio’s acting as “someone who was chosen by God” and even went as far as using his own money his parents gave him when they kicked him out (strict family bs) to build the initial theatre while they both worked part-time. Reni was the one who designed the entire theatre according to Yukio’s wishes to “make it long lasting”. However, Yukio revealed to him that he has no desire to stand on stage again and instead wants to make others “full bloom”, this invoked a sense of betrayal in Reni.
Reni was also the one who recruited Syu, his childhood friend, into the theatre. From there on, Yuzo and Kasumi also joined. Kasumi was revealed to also be garbage at acting at first but Yukio appointed him as lead for their first play nonetheless.
There is apparently some outside force wanting to ruin Mankai as they even went as far as stealing a part of Tsuzuru’s script and provided it to Misumi’s dad who ended up plagiarizing. It is later revealed that Reni had nothing to do with this so it is currently unknown who the main perpetrator is.
In order to get a better grasp on his devil character, Tsumugi opted to spend one day with each of the other winter troupe members (Homare, Hisoka, and Azuma) individually. This is to get more insight from people who had lived such different lives and accumulated such different experiences. Honestly, one of the most heartwarming moments ever.
Tumblr media
MY ANGST MAN IS HERE WITH HIS FIRST APPEARANCE!!! SAKURAI TAKAHIRO’S VOICE OMGGGGG *deaded counter x2*
He met Tsumugi in front of the GOD Theatre and asked him to “save” Reni.
On the day of the performance, Tsumugi and Taichi decided to walk to the theatre. They met Banri and Juza along the way who were planning to do a street act to release some energy. On their way, they ended up being surrounded by numerous punks who were presumably sent by the same outside force who stole Tsuzuru’s script.
The night before the actual performance, the plagiarism was revealed to both sides and both sides were just as much caught off guard by this. Reni, however, refused to change the direction of the play since it was too risky as the performance is the next day. However, Shifuto refused to act out something that is plagiarized since he promised Azami that they would have a “fair fight like men”.
And so, he managed to convince Haruto to use Madoka’s script that he has written for the first time according to free will and changed the entire play in one night. With the help of Haruto’s authority, they managed to do it in time. (I’ve failed to mention this until now but these three has been building up chemistry all through out this episode and im so down for them tbh)
Banri told Juza to take Tsumugi and Taichi and go ahead while he stays behind to try and buy some time alone against all the men. Just when Banri was in a tight spot due to power in number...
Tumblr media
BAM THIS OLD MAN COMES IN AND SAVES THE DAY!! by now y’all already know... YASUMOTO HIROKI’S VOICE HAAAAAAAAAH *deaded counter x3*
After Banri revealed to Zen that he was autumn troupe leader of Mankai, Zen gave him a card of his restaurant, “Gentiana” and promised to treat them to a meal there afterwards.
Tumblr media
Costume reveal for GOD Troupe. Honestly, I love the chemistry that was built throughout this episode between Shifuto, Haruto, and Madoka. Haruto really did give out redeeming qualities and i don’t dislike him as much as before aha (even tho he is still a snob) and I acknowledge him as a character. Madoka’s script consisted of two characters and basically talks about two estranged brothers (his way of writing down his guilt for towards Misumi)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Costume reveal for Mankai as many of you probably have seen already- devil tsumugi and sexy tasuku is just-
In terms of actual in-game plays, this was the second play that I’ve actually cried at, the first being Clockwork. Super emotional and well-written play and certainly it draws a lot of parallels to Sympathy for the Angel.
Tumblr media
SAME RENI...JUST-SAME. TT
After the performances...i won’t reveal who won and by how much but Reni did officially apologize for all his past actions as he was reminded of his passion for acting through this play. Izumi thought this too but it is hard to 100% forgive him bc of the pain he’s brought on all the members.
He revealed why he quit Mankai, it was bc he and Yukio had become so divided that if he had stayed, the entire balance of Mankai would fall to ruins. He actually came to the conclusion to leave after being trapped in the time loop with Yukio for about three days aha~
Reni decided to create GOD Troupe bc he wanted them to win the Fleur Awards first and crush Mankai, that way, he may have the chance one day to accepted a lost Yukio in his troupe as an actor and not a director (obsessed much my dude??)
The last part of the episode is Reni wanting to talk to Izumi about the Ikaruga family and being invited to Mankai Dorms as a result. There he reminisced the days with the OGs before we are left with a cliffhanger-
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Even though he only talked for two lines but ONO DAISUUUUKE~~~ *deaded counter x4*
The very last scenes showcased how the OGs are starting to come back together as they will be getting involved with the new Mankai members.
Tumblr media
THIS OLD MAN LEGIT WENT AND HELPED THEM PICK CABBAGE I-
Tumblr media
LOOK AT THIS EXPRESSION HE IS SO PRECIOUS-
~❀❀❀~
that concludes the rough summary of episode 9! i...this was an ordeal to get through aha and sorry for it ended up being such a long post...It was inevitable bc this episode consisted of 39 chapters.
Honestly im so dead by the end of this that i didnt have the heart to check for any grammar mistakes so there’re probably quite a few that i ask you kindly to just ignore~ 🥺🥺
now, time to dig a hole and cry until episode 10 comes out...☠️😇😭

Writing Tag Game
I've never done this and it looks like fun! Thanks for the tag, @visionarygalaxy 💖
No tags, but please do this, it is a fun fic retrospective thing.
(I apologize if I missed any tags for previous memes - this has been a terribly busy seven days. Please ping me via PM if I missed anything 💖)
AO3 Name: babywarg
Fandoms: recently, MCU; specifically, ironstrange. previously: tenipuri (RIKKAIDAI!!), katekyou hitman reborn, gensomaden saiyuki, hobbit movies, yst/rw, yyh, etc. i'm a one-fandom-at-a-time person
Tropes: Uhhh I am not sure I have one. Two switches with dominant personalities occasionally duking it out and then giving way just a little bit to let the other in, I suppose... (I privately refer to it as “semepile” but there should be a better word for it out there)
Number of Fics: 83 total for all pseuds; just 65 for babywarg
Fic I spent the most time on: definitely my first multichapter, Settling for a Miracle - i'm STILL spending time on it!
Fic I spent the least time on: all the fics that are below 1000 words 😺 His Storms has a special place in my heart because it came fully formed in my head; putting it down on paper was effortless.
Longest Fic: co-written: Particles (with the brilliant @amethyst-noir <3). solo ride: Settling for a Miracle
Shortest Fic: that is a complete ficlet and not a meta: Waking Up Beside Him for the First Time
Most Hits: No Longer Human
Most Kudos: Love Through Time
Most Comment Threads: co-written: Particles. solo ride: Settling for a Miracle
Most Bookmarks: Love Through Time
Total Word Count: 360,200
Favourite Fic I Wrote: here's a quick 10:
1. What Comes Next
2. No Longer Human
3. Our Time Together
4. Love Through Time
5. Particles (although I’m sort of cheating because I love the parts that @amethyst-noir wrote the most 😺)
6. Saying Your Names
7. Stigmata
8. Seven Days in Love
9. A History of Love
10. Hold Back the Night
Fic I want to rewrite/expand on: Saying Your Names. it feels like there's a lot of lore in this fantasy AU that i wasn't able to explore in just 5 chapters.
Share a bit of WIP or story you are planning: okay! tagging @wspaceblog for this because it's a WIP of something we've been talking about 😺
Tony grew up in his father's tailoring shop. In his three decades there, he had witnessed a lot of people coming and going - but few truly made an impression on him.
Off the top of his head, in fact, he could think of only two:
One was someone who never set foot in the shop at all. It was a boy about twelve (Tony's age), bone-thin and pale, with dirty blonde hair.
He always looked like he had come out of a fight - there was sometimes a bruise on his face, or a torn sleeve, or a ripped shirt collar. But always, he entered Tony's line of sight with a sort of rage burning in his baby blue eyes.
He would stand in front of the shop and look up at the display mannequins, which changed clothes every Wednesday - and, slowly but surely, the anger on his face would fade.
It would take on a serene look - as if he were staring not at clothes, but at works of art.
And sometimes the boy would look beyond the mannequins, and set those baby blues on Tony's face. And when he saw that Tony noticed, he became flustered. A touch of color graced those gaunt cheekbones.
More than once, Tony opened the door to the shop, hoping to invite the boy in. But the boy always fled whenever he heard the knob turn.
- and in the end, it was all right, because Tony's dad hated letting "the rabble" into his exclusive shop. That boy neatly fit into his father's definition of "the rabble."
One day, the boy just stopped standing in front of the shop. Tony always wondered where he'd gone.
The other was someone who arrived way later: a boy about nineteen (Tony's age). He strode in with the confidence of someone who could afford the goods.
Tony never actually knew if the boy had money. He only knew that the boy was good at looking like he did.
And he only knew that the boy liked running his fingers over the finest cloth they had.
His dad didn't like this, of course, but didn't see any cause to throw him out. The boy wasn't damaging the merchandise.
He just sent Tony out to deal with the kid. And Tony had to deal with the kid a lot. The kid visited the shop several times, just looking and touching for a few minutes, and just letting Tony talk about the selections on which he lingered.
The kid had a self-important air about him that unsettled Tony somewhat, but at the same time, drew him in.
Tony's dad didn't like him.
That might have been part of what made it so much fun for Tony to escort him all over the shop, telling him anything and everything that came to mind - all but spilling his most precious trade secrets and sewing tips.
Tony didn't mind if the kid just came to waste time; his quiet, yet intense presence was welcome.
One day, the kid found it: the cloth with the exact pattern and texture that he wanted. His holy grail.
It was a good choice, too - one of their most tasteful, most expensive velvets.
"How much to make a fully bespoke suit out of this?" the kid asked him.
And Tony was taken aback, first by how soft and sultry the boy's voice was - exquisite, like mulberry silk.
And then, by how clear and brilliant his eyes were. Like subtly colored glass.
No choice, really, but for Tony to turn on the charm.
"For you," Tony said, all saccharine, "just six thousand."
(What? The kid was hot, but Tony wasn't about to go too low on a suit made of one of the best fabrics in the house.)
The kid didn't dispute the figure. He fell silent for a moment, feeling the scrap of cloth between his fingers in a light, almost reverent manner.
"I'll need a fully bespoke suit in a few years," the kid eventually said. "That fabric had better be ready for me."
"Years?" Tony echoed with unflagging sweetness. "We don't reserve for that long, especially not without a deposit. And especially not when people can still grow out of the cut." He gently took the fabric from the boy's hand. Their fingers briefly touched, and Tony brushed aside the light tingle that crept up his spine on contact. "Come back a few months before you actually need the suit, okay? And I'll personally see what we can do for you."
The boy just stood, staring into Tony's eyes as if determining his sincerity.
Then, the boy nodded, and wordlessly left the store.
He didn't come back in the following days. Or months. Or years, even, as initially stated.
The boy hadn't even left his name. By all accounts, this told Tony that he wasn't actually serious about the reservation.
But Tony still kept a few yards of the velvet material he had chosen stored away. He wasn't sure why.

Tenipuri Party: Echizen Ryouma profile translation
Tumblr media
TN:
In the absence of an official English version, this translation is intended to help those who can’t read the material in the original language. Please support Tenipuri by getting your own copy of this book - it is worth it! There are various ways of purchasing it even for those not living in or visiting Japan.
The pictures I have included in this post do not show full pages.
On Echizen’s style of speech: he uses boyish style with pretty straightforward and brief sentences. In Japan it wouldn’t be considered exactly polite in style, even if the content is not exactly rude.
I’m still working on Japanese, so there might be mistakes. Please let me know if you spot any translation errors so I can fix them here!

Interview
“As long as I can play tennis, I don’t care which team I play for”
Congratulations on being reinstated as Japan’s representative! For Echizen-senshu, what was the experience of fighting as an American representative like?
What was it like…? Normal. As long as I can play tennis, the country is irrelevant.
Did you have a strong desire to play on the same team as Ryouga-senshu?
No, I wanted to play against him. But in the end, he was being evasive and escaped.
Where there any impressions you had looking at the Japanese team from the outside?
They’ve changed a bit, somehow. Fuji-senpai, Atobe-san, that person called “the child of god”. And… Akutsu-san too. Not bad, everyone.
Is that the reason you returned to Japan’s team?
Not really. It’s just that when I thought about who were the people that made me strong… If you’re fighting together with someone, I guess I’d do it here.
Sometimes, a samurai-like aura can be felt around Echizen-senshu.
Hmm… I don’t know since I can’t tell myself. When I was fighting the French prince, I guess it was said that he was a knight and I was a samurai. He was a troublesome guy, but the match with him was fun. Well, I’ll win next time too. The horseback match was a tie, but next time I’ll win that one too.
Tumblr media
Party Talk
Q: Is there any table with players you’re interested in? A: Not really… But I guess there are strong looking guys at the German table. Well, I’d beat all of them.
Q: You offered Fanta to Tokugawa-san, didn’t you? A: He drank it in one go. I wonder if it was that good.
Q: Could it be you’re having taiyaki for the first time? A: Yeah. Why is it shaped like a fish? I’ll eat from the head side.
Q: Your suit is wonderful. Did you tie the necktie yourself? A: …How about not treating me like a kid? Well, I had it tied for me.
Q: Ah, suddenly a cat is clinging to Echizen-kun...! A: The Australian rep’s cat? There, there…
Fashion
“When we met by coincidence the other day, you were wearing a T-shirt with a strange design. What country’s brand was that?” (Yukimura)
“I’ll give you some hand-me-downs next time. But maybe they’ll be too big for you, Chibisuke?” (Ryouga)
“Koshimae is always wearing a cap! Lend it to me too!” (Tooyama)
“Basically I like clothes that are easy to move in. I guess I wear half-pants and shorts a lot.” (Echizen)
“Heeey Echizen! Are you wearing the socks we bought for color variation when we went shopping?” (Momoshiro)
Album
This is an album that happened to be in my backpack when I came to Australia. I think I got it after the nationals when I was leaving for America. Look at this and remember, they said. …But email and phones exist. Mada mada ne.
Room
Looks like stuff from America has increased While I was gone, mom and the others have rearranged my room, and exchanged stuff like the TV for a new one. The stuff I was made to take to the camp has also increased. I always play tennis at home too, though, so I’m only in the room when I sleep.

Model UN - Tenipuri (Rikkai) version
I have no idea if anyone out there will even read this because it’s so niche (?) but here goes. Disclaimer: I have no knowledge of the MUN circuit in Japan so this is based off the local circuit.
This is organised by individual characters, followed by general HCs for the whole team at the end.
Yukimura
Has an impressively long list of conferences and awards, but switched to chairing conferences because he found it more interesting
Knows A LOT of people from other schools, especially those who have been around for some time
Used to be a gavel hunter, but he took a break from MUN for a while when his friends talked him out of it gradually. Now he’s still fairly competitive, but not too aggressive. Shifting towards helping out beginners.
Sanada
Got into MUN because he’s a history dork. Historical Crisis is mostly what he goes for when he’s got more experience.
Disliked the public speaking part of it at first, but gradually got used to it. The entire room goes silent when he’s talking and he never has the problem of ‘not enough council presence’.
Usually finds himself named for several superlatives at the end, especially if it’s something embarrassing and one of his friends is in the room.
Sticks aggressively to stance. Breaking stance is just not something he does.
Yanagi
Finds writing position papers and research more interesting than actual council sessions most of the time. That’s partly why he’s racked up a lot of BPPs, along with one accidental BD.
Similar to Sanada, also likes the historical aspect of it, but lobbying isn’t really his thing, so he has less council presence. Almost always is a sponsor of the resolution though.
Is incredibly annoying when he runs backroom for crisis committees, just because he manages to screw people over in the weirdest and most detailed ways possible.
Yagyuu
I see him as probably the first person on the team who started MUN, because an upperclassman persuaded him to give it a try.
Has probably snaked someone at least twice. Is fairly good and persuasive when it comes to micro lobbying. Hates unmods though, just because there’s too much disorder and outright jockeying for power.
Can get competitive when he’s representing a major stakeholder. Otherwise still a good person to have on your bloc just because he has pretty good council presence and speeches.
Niou
The amount of preparation he puts in varies tremendously - one time he spent two months researching and planning strategy, another time all he did was read the study guide during opening ceremony.
Has decent speeches even when his content isn’t that sound. Will readily admit he’s shit at drafting documents or writing papers though.
Almost always wins superlatives related to appearances.
Mostly gets VCs despite not being as active as other people because the chairs appreciate his ideas made during debate.
Marui
Started MUN initially for fun, but soon found that he liked the social aspect, and the adrenaline rush during council sessions.
Makes a good effort to include everyone in debate. Writes a lot of notes.
Like Yukimura, he’s also a decent chair and he likes to reach out to first-timers or chair beginner councils to encourage people.
Has doubled delegated with a lot of people, so his style has gradually become more adaptable over the years - it was somewhat haphazard at the beginning.
Jackal
Dragged into MUN because Marui needed a double delegate, but actually ended up liking the whole thing.
Hesitant about public speaking at first but improved a LOT and he’s also more confident in his spoken Japanese in general now.
Crisis isn’t really his thing, but he finds it interesting so every now and then he gives it a go. Mostly picks committees based on his general interest in the topic rather than the committee.
Kirihara
Shows up to council session at least five minutes late, especially if the conference is held somewhere he’s never been to.
Went into his first two conferences with too much enthusiasm for awards - his seniors had to talk this out of him.
He’s getting better with time management because he forces himself to research things in advance.
His speeches are straightforward, mostly average, but he has a lot of council presence.
Urayama
He got roped in as a note-passer by Kirihara when the third-years decided to have a mini two-day conference in Rikkai.
Very polite, feels bad when he has to hand someone’s notes to the chairs because they’re inappropriate.
Starts going for conferences in high school.
Rikkai as a whole
I REALLY like the idea of Rikkai doubles as double delegates. Marui and Jackal having the whole complementary dynamic. Niou and Yagyuu pulling the Switch during council session just to screw with everyone.
D1 is terrifyingly good at UNSC though.
Kirihara knows quite a few second-years from other schools (Zaizen, Kaidou, Hiyoshi) through MUN.
Kirihara also gets lots of different advice from his seniors when he first starts out, but in the end he mixes and matches them and ends up with his own style.
The Big Three chaired a crisis committee together with Niou, Yagyuu, Marui, Jackal running backroom. Kirihara claims that the experience put him off crisis entirely.
Marui has actually partnered with almost everyone on the team.
Niou owns a neon pink blazer that he sometimes wears on the last day of the conference. Once he did it while switched with Yagyuu.
Yukimura and Sanada teamed up once, and while it wasn’t a bad experience, they both agree that they’ve rather go in solo or with other people. Sanada and Yanagi on the other hand, have a fairly impressive track record when it comes to double delegating.
The gang probably met as a school delegation. Yagyuu is head delegate at first, but this changes to Yukimura six months later.
They’ve won best school delegation a non-trivial number of times.

⁂ How Do You Love? (Tenipuri) o1
Tumblr media
📑 Table of Contents
Genre: Friendship, Family, Angst
Word Count: 1,512
Pairing: ??
World: Prince of Tennis
Author’s Note: Another series I started a while back lol Dunno if I’ll ever continue it, but I wanted to post it anyway c:
━━━━━━༻🌧️༺━━━━━━
“I’m home.”
I looked up from my racing game for a brief second before returning my attention to the TV. I easily missed the other racer that was trying to break my drift around the corner. He ended up slamming into the guard rail for his trouble. “Welcome back. How was the tournament?”
“Boring. I couldn’t find anyone strong.” I heard the pout in his voice followed by the thump of his tennis bag hitting the floor. He plopped down beside me, his head falling onto my shoulder. “Do you think there will be stronger opponents in Japan?”
“Dunno.” I wanted to shrug but the weight on my shoulder prevented me from doing so. “It can’t be any worse than here. Maybe that’s why dad wants us to come back home – goddamn it Carlos, keep up.” I scowled at the NPC driver who couldn’t match my speed. Honestly, drift trains are easily the most annoying event in the game. It takes skill to stay off the gas enough for the others to stay with you while maintaining enough speed to perform a drift all while trying to avoid the other drivers that exist only to bump into you and try to ruin your otherwise perfect drift.
“When’s our flight?” He paused for a moment. “And what’s for dinner?”
“Tomorrow at noon. Traffic will be rough so we need to leave by ten-thirty at the latest.” I finished the drift train in first place, easily overcoming the target score. “What do you want to eat? McDonald’s?”
I felt him nod against my shoulder. “Can I stay here? I’m tired.”
I smiled softly, ruffling his soft dark green locks. “Yeah, go ahead and take a bath. I’ll grab you some food.”
“Okay~”
I grabbed my keys off the table and slipped my boots on. “Make sure you lock the door!” I heard his mutter of agreement as I closed the door. When I made it outside of the apartment building, I was met with the crisp spring air. The sun was low over the horizon, hiding behind tall buildings. The streets were full of people rushing home from work and heading out to eat, shop, or party. Honestly, there are so many people living in New York, it was suffocating. I’m happy to be returning to Japan, even though it’s been a long time since I was back there.
McDonald’s was only three blocks away from my apartment building so it didn’t take long to get there. Naturally, the place was friggin’ packed with people – it took longer to get my order than it did to walk to the damn place. I finally got my order and slipped through the crowd of people, out into the street.
I slipped into the alleyway because if one more person bumped into me, I was legit going to punch somebody. One drastic difference between Japan and America is the fact that Americans are dicks. That’s one of the main reasons I’m so happy to be leaving the country; maybe I won’t get into quite as many fights in Japan.
“Well, well, what do we have here?” An arm slung around my shoulder and the stench of body odor and alcohol reached my nose. “You shouldn’t be out alone, little girl.”
I scowled, shoving his arm off of me. “Fuck off,”
“Am I making you mad, she-demon?”
My eyes narrowed at the older man. “I’m not in the mood to deal with you. Find someone else to deal with.” I started to walk away.
“Where’s that precious baby brother of yours? Home alone, aye?” His laughter was cut off by my fist in his face, sending him flying back against the alley wall.
I dashed away toward my apartment building, not caring about the people I shoved out of the way. I rushed up the stairs and nearly slammed into the door as I forced the key into the lock, throwing the door open. It bounced against the wall from the force I used. I was about to scream Ryoma’s name when he came out of the hallway, a confused look on his face.
“What’s wrong, nee-chan?”
I took a deep breath, kicking the door shut with my foot before approaching him. I set the food on the table as I went and grabbed the fluffy white towel around his neck. He pouted when I started to dry his dark locks. “Nothing. I thought you were still in the bath.”
He narrowed his cat-like eyes at me but said nothing. That’s one of my favorite things about him – he always knows when I’m lying, but rarely questions it.
“Don’t stay up too late. It’ll be a pain to wake you in the morning.” I ruffled his hair before returning to the door to make sure it was shut and locked tight. If that bastard was really dumb enough to try and harm my baby brother, I certainly won’t make it easy for him. Thank god we’re leaving tomorrow.
A fresh start in a new country. Ryoma will be safer in Japan.
I flopped onto the floor in front of the coffee table, staring at the TV screen. My GT-R was banged up and bruised, despite not even being on the road; you could only hit it if you aimed for it. I scowled, bringing up the map and marking the closest gas station. I will never understand how people find it fun to slam into the car of a player that’s not even there.
Ryoma fell into the recliner, the paper bag crinkling as he pulled out his food. “Have you eaten, nee-chan?”
“Before you got home.”
Ryoma sat in the living room with me for the next hour, watching me playing my racing game until his eyes began to droop. When his breathing evened out, I closed out my game and carried him to his room. I tucked him under the covers before climbing into my own bed. I pulled out my phone to find a new message from my friend, Kenko.
We met during my first year of middle school. I had been the foreign kid that couldn’t speak Japanese. The other kids were scared of me because I had punched another kid on my first day. My dad, of course, managed to sweet-talk the principal, convincing her that I was just acting out because I was still adjusting. It was complete bullshit, but she bought it and I wasn’t expelled. Kenko had been the only one not afraid of me after that.
Naturally, I had tried to push him away – I was a complete bitch to him and I even threatened to hurt him – but he still stayed. He spoke English so it was easy to communicate with him, and he offered to help me learn Japanese. Before I knew it, he had wiggled his way in and had become a good friend of mine. Even after I left Japan to watch over Ryoma, he still kept in contact.
✉ ‘You weren’t planning on telling me, were you?’
I raised my eyebrow. How had he found out? I made sure not to mention anything about returning to Japan. I figured it would be a nice surprise for him. He’s a genius, sure, but unless he’s also a stalker, there’s no way he could have found out.
✉ ‘What do you mean?’
✉ ‘IDIOT~ I know you’re coming home tomorrow.’
✉ ‘Am I? News to me.’
✉ ‘Remind me to smack you when you land~’
I scowled.
✉ ‘Smack me and you die. How’d you find out, anyway?’
✉ ‘Your father asked me to get your enrollment paperwork together~ Guess what school you’re going to!’
My eye twitched in annoyance. That damned old man… I should’ve known.
✉ ‘Seishun Gakuen with Ryoma.’
✉ ‘Negative~ You, Winchester-san, will be attending Rikkai Daigaku alongside the brilliant tensai, Yasujirou-san.’
Rikkai? What school is that? I did a quick google search and found the school’s website. It’s in Kanagawa… isn’t that an hour or so away from Tokyo? Why the hell would my old man let me go there? I thought I was supposed to watch over Ryoma.
✉ ‘Tensai, my ass. Why the hell am I going to Rikkai?’
✉ ‘Your dad thought it was best that you have a friend at your new school. Don’t want a repeat of middle school, right?’
I narrowed my eyes at the message. Thinking about it, that did make sense. Kenko could probably keep me from breaking someone’s nose because we both know that someone is most likely going to piss me off as soon as I step into the building. Still… I’m not too happy about not going to the same school as Ryoma. I’ve been watching over him for so long.
Another message came through, breaking my thoughts.
✉ ‘I know what you’re thinking, but don’t worry, Ryo-chan will be fine. He’s a strong kid.’
I’ve always hated how he can read my mind, even on the other side of the planet. I didn’t respond, setting my phone on the floor next to the bed before rolling over to face the wall.

Prince of Tennis (2019) meme
Tagged by @hardworkingprocrastinator - Thank youuuu~! :D
You already tagged all the POT blogs that I reblog all the time, so I’m just gonna say that I look forward to reading everyone’s answers, haha!
1. Favorite character(s)? Tezuka
2. Favorite school team(s)? Seigaku, Fudomine (during my first watch over a decade ago, they were my #1 fav, LOL
3. Favorite coach(es)? Ryuzaki-sensei
4. Favorite supporting cast member(s)? Hmmmmm. None, I guess? I don’t mind Nanjiroh but I kind of fast-forward through his bits, LOL.
5. Favorite original character(s) in the adaptation? Tezuka, always, in every incarnation
6. Who do you think enacted their role best?
All of them were 100%, TBH. At first I was skeptical when I saw the first scene with all the regulars walking towards the camera because some were so dissimilar in looks from their anime counterparts that I couldn’t tell who was who. But then they started talking/acting and I realized that they were perfect for their roles. The ones I was most skeptical about were Momo, Fuji, and Oishi, just because their hairstyles were different from the anime and I couldn’t figure out who they were. But THEN they started talking and I was like... okay. Shut up, these guys are perfect. XD
I do feel like some of the rival schools could have had actors who were a better physical fit: Sanada and Tachibana should have both been taller, just because they’re such imposing characters, and watching Kamio dwarf/idolize Kippei was kinda funny at first... but I’m torn because the actor for Kippei especially brought such a different side to the character that I really enjoyed, and I actually like this different-but-same version of him in the C-drama. Just wish he was taller. XD
7. Favorite singles match?
Tezuka vs. Ryoma, even though it’s not an official match. They were my favorite ship back in the day because there were always so god damned dramatic, but there was also a squick factor for me (even though I was a teen at the time), because of the visuals (i.e. Ryoma looks too young, Tezuka looks too old, etc.) Anyway, I was really pleased when the C-drama moved them all up to high school, and that Ryoma didn’t look so young anymore. (When I found out that his actor was OLDER than Tezuka’s actor, I ~cackled).
But yeah, I love the original anime’s secret match scene a whole lot, but the C-drama really nailed it out of the park for me. I’m never gonna forget that they took a scene that was barely there in the manga, improved it from the anime, and just perfected it through and through. A+++ Pillar Pair content!
8. Favorite doubles match?
Funny enough, I enjoyed the Fuji and Kawamura match with Fudomine! I barely noticed this one from the anime, but I really like how it played out in the C-drama. Kawamura and Fuji’s actors were on point here, and of all the awesome GP matches, somehow, this little doubles match is the one that hit me the hardest.
9. Favorite story arc?
I liked the bonding training thing on the mountain, if only because it felt like new content. I don’t remember much of the anime’s filler eps anymore so I don’t remember if it was there, but it felt new when I watched it, and it was hilarious. XD
10. Most amusing tenipuri scene(s)/moment(s)/running joke(s)?
INUI JUICE. Not even Tezuka is impervious!
11. What did you like most about the adaptation?
The actors, the polish of the effects, and the tightening of certain plots. Because there have been so many adaptations, they had so much to work with and could build on past interpretations. Of all the POT things I have watched, this felt the most polished. The cast was also perfectly chosen, and because POT is a LOT of character drama/interactions, it was so important that the actors worked well... and they DID. It’s like someone took my favorite anime from my teen years and made it into the perfect LA show, honestly. I can’t see any way to improve it (and this comes from someone who is not a fan of Ryoma x Sakuno: it says a lot that I didn’t even mind her in the C-drama).
12. What do you think the adaptation could have improved on?
Aside from some superficial stuff like the height of certain actors, none!
13. Any other thoughts you want to share?
Thanks for tagging me, thinking about POT was a lot of fun!

Could you break Shiraishi's ass down for me (gently)?
Tumblr media
Very gently bc he’s a pure precious soul let me elaborate.
How I feel about this character
I strongly feel about him like… I have feelings. His match against Fuji is probs my personal fave on the entire series because it’s a huge character development party for both of them. For Fuji of course because it’s his first ever singles loss in the series (in a official match) and he like, needed it?, but for Kurarin as well because it shows for the first time what his real strength is.We had already seen Fuji use this same strategy of giving a huge advantage to his opponent and then turn the tables around (hello, Mizuki) trying to destroy his opponent’s self confidence and ability to focus to the ground.Buuut Shiraishi’s no Mizuki, he’s a very rational player, not a genius, not a child of any god, but a player who has three great qualities: technique, mental strength, and observation skills. Many people look to Kaido as the symbol of the “Hard Work Winz” religion, but in reality Kurarin shows an even more complete side of that, the one of someone who not only has the willpower to get himself out from a tricky situation, but masters the basics of tennis so well that he knows exactly how to neutralize “magic” with “physics”, so to speak. Fuji tries to finish him with his ‘final counter'  and Kurarin step by step manages to counterattack him.The outcome, at that point, between a player who has no other aces to pull out of the sleeve and a player who shows that he doesn’t need any of them to win, because even if his cards are weaker, he knows how to play them, was, well, obvious. And also I saw him truly enjoying the challenge, who had been a mental challenge waaay before a tennis challenge and I’m weak for mentally strong players there’s nothing I can say for myself.
All the people I ship romantically with this character
I’m very very soft for ShiraYuki art. Also I’ve read some ShiraYuki fic that was gold, a thousand years ago or so. I’m also down for some good ShiraKen if I’m in the mood - is this even a legit ship name IDK. ShiraYuki could be one of those angsty ships like rivals-to-lovers or so, ShiraKen is just pure fluff of best friends who fell in love and are unable to tell each other and constantly find themselves in awkward situations like feed me with that.
My non-romantic OTP for this character
I’m onto a very classic here. I really really loved the ‘mentoring’ relationship with Akaya in canon. They’re like the very opposite, Akaya’s all instinct and feelings and fire, and Shiraishi’s rationality and strategy, so no clue that Yanagi had picked him to FIX THE MESS THAT THEY’VE DONE.- and let me add that Shiraishi would’ve never risk the health of A N Y  of his teammates for the sake of winning a match thank you very much. For the same reasons I love his relationship with Kintarou. Shiraishi is so good with children I bet he works as a volunteer during the kids’ summer camps.
My unpopular opinion about this character
Idk if it’s unpopular or not but Kurarin’s quitting tennis after middle school to focus 100% on studying for college. I believe that he’s more perfectionist than he’s competitive, he had plans for his future, and he won’t need a sport scholarship because his grades are good enough by their own. He also can’t stand Zaizen like at all, my heart aches by typing this.
One thing I wish would happen / had happened with this character in canon.
I would’ve wanted to see him against Yukimura in canon. I’m also sure at some point he could beat him. But I’m also sure he would want to face him when he’ll be 100% WHICH HE’S NOT THANKS KONOMI.But yeah, I’d like to see how pure rationality will work against the Yips in a match. He’d be fireworks. Or someone would die. But that’s just what usually happens in Tenipuri so what’s the big deal.

for the 6 characters meme, assuming you'd want someone out of tenipuri, would Shinobu from kimetsu no yaiba be okay?
probably not getting any more of them, so here she is =u=;;;
Tumblr media Tumblr media
if anyone (or you) still feels like sending more, that's all okay tho~ (but I won't do the same series twice)

Dear followers, I’m open for some art/writing prompts
IDK if someone would notice this to be honest. But posting this anyway!
In 10 days, it’s gonna be my birthday, and I really want to give something back to my followers because staying here in Tumblr and making an Ao3 account has really made my life turn these months! It’s really great to know that someone appreciates what you do.
Soooo, if someone is interested (a message, an ask, IDK drop them to me), you can give me any prompt from these lists [Romance prompt list] [Angst prompt list] or even make your own and we can bring it to life through art and/or writing. It depends on how inspiration strikes me but I can probably make an art and/or write a drabble.
Though I fangirl on other series, mostly it’s really just BNHA now and IzuOcha, so I’d request that too (I’m sure most of my followers are IzuOcha all the way anyway so more love for this lovely pair), buuuuut if I’d get requests on the following, it’s probably gonna be fine.
Other BNHA pairs: KamiJirou, TodoMomo, KiriMina, TokoTsu
Other series pairs: HakYona (AkaYona), InuKag (Inuyasha), AllenLena (D.Gray-Man), RyoSaku (TeniPuri), LuNa (One Piece)
I dunno if this will get attention, but I’d like to have this until the end of September so hopefully, I’d get requests. This is my first time to do this.
Thanks for everyone who has made my Tumblr so colorful <3

To The Water
[Fanfiction for Rikkai/Tenipuri that I wrote in 2003-ish I think. It’s for an unpopular pair Yagyuu/Yanagi.  It’s not a happy fic but it has closure.]
Yagyuu stares out into open waters - the vast blue sea, grey with the dying of light.
Yanagi stares at Yagyuu, feet digging into the cool sand and at first glance they are like embers, if only they glow gold instead of silver. There is silence between them as always. It is their reality after all. The boy with glasses reaches into his pocket and pulls out a coin as the hundredth wave rolls in and he tosses it high in the air.
Yanagi just listens, ever-seeing though his eyes are closed. Heads, he whispers to himself.
Heads they win, tails we lose.
Yagyuu's words come a bit late defining what each side meant was something that Yanagi knew before the coin even hit the ground. He crouches and stares. They win. Yagyuu touches the surface, he can't help but smile. There is no meaning behind it and he pockets the coin and leaves.
Yanagi follows with a gaze, rare, as his eyes open to watch Yagyuu.
"Renji it's cold out here, come inside." he can tell that Genichirou is standing a few feet away, down the cascade of sand from where their cottage is located.
"I hear you Genichirou..." but he doesn't really, all he can hear are the soundless footfalls that Yagyuu is making farther from him.
Yagyuu enters the cottage he shares with three other people.
Niou of course, first to notice, as his partner comes in quiet and his expression a tell-tale sign of distress. He stares at him a bit longer before he tells Bunta and Akaya to be quiet. None of the two listen. Yagyuu doesn't mind, he just wants to lay down and close his eyes: To betray nothing. To give nothing. To be nothing. He takes off his glasses.
"Can we talk?" Niou asks an octave lower than the other two's banter.
Yagyuu shakes his head turning down the offer, but Niou is fast and he snatches the glasses from the side table - a sign that the offer isn't open for discussion. And so the taller boy follows Niou out into the more quiet terrace. Niou returns his glasses quietly.
"Are you making progress with Marui?" Yagyuu offers to break this silence.
"Yes. Are you?" The question returns like a train at full speed and Yagyuu is stuck on the tracks.
"I have no interest in Marui." Yagyuu does the only thing he can - fall graciously.
"Great. But I was referring to someone else."
Yagyuu refuses to indulge Niou, but he is indeed grateful for his concern. And so he smiles like a true gentleman and shakes his head. That is the only answer he has with him after all, and he slides his hands in his pockets - the coin is still there and there are daggers in his chest.
"Did you tell him?" Niou speaks of it as if it was child's play.
"Of course." Yagyuu answers.
And all they can hear around them are the waves.
Truth or Dare is a game that Yagyuu doesn't quite understand.
Somehow the premise relied solely on humiliation or maybe it was just his notion because he wasn't that open to people?  And he didn't quite expect everyone in his team to be so open to the game. There isn't much logic in spinning a bottle either, and if he forces himself to look at it while spinning he was sure he'd develop mild vertigo.
"Oh hey it's your turn, Yagyuu!" Akaya's too loud Yagyuu reckons.
"I know. I can see, you need not shout."
"WHY?!" Akaya does not listen.
Yagyuu bites down on his temper.
"Truth or dare..." Jackal asks him.
And everyone goes silent, like that ominous feeling when something's about to die and vultures circle in the sky in anticipation. Yagyuu glances at Niou and Niou gives him that look that says my hands are tied.
They are not. They're holding Bunta's.
Yagyuu feels displaced and he answers "Truth." Avoiding no one's eyes but Yanagi's.
"You were out til late last night, where did you go!?" Akaya is still speaking in superior volume.
Yagyuu's face is blank and by instinct he knows that Yukimura is looking at him and so is Sanada.
Yanagi's eyes flutter open. It held that somber request - and Yagyuu reads it clearly - with Renji sitting between Genichirou and Seiichi. It's a message eloquent on its own.
"I..."
"Well?!!" Akaya asks and is somehow silenced by a pile of sand.
Yagyuu would have to thank Niou later.
"I...watched the tides ebb."
More silence.
"Man. You are such a nerd." Niou speaks and laughs and so the others follow. Yagyuu notices that the trinity is quiet. He feigns an excuse and gets up. Walking away from the rest of his teammates.
All he had to do was get to the water.
If his feet could feel the cool kiss of the sea then he'd be okay.
That was the only thought going through Yagyuu's head. Behind him he hears someone and it urges him to brisk-walk.  He doesn't want to run, he isn't desperate, he isn't in pain or is he? Water splashes as he reaches water's edge - the tides comes in late that night and the waves angrier than last night.
"Are you not going to walk or move or run anymore?" Yanagi's voice is silent and it lances through all other sounds.
"I wasn't running." Yagyuu shrugs, facing the black sea, wanting it to swallow him for now and spit him back out in the morning.
"There's no point in disrupting the balance that we have. If we do there's going to be a sixty-five..."
"Spare me your calculations." The first time in two years that he had interrupted Yanagi.
"What do you want me to do, Yagyuu?"
His mother used to say that dying creates the loudest silence. "Do you like me?" Yagyuu felt like dying not of shame but of frustration.  Yanagi looks at him then the sea, maybe he too wanted to get lost in the tides with Yagyuu. An unseen affair, they could hold hands or smile freely with only the fishes and mermaids as their witness -- and they, they would never tell.
Whimsical notion, a taboo on its own.
He had much to feel.
He answers with nothing.
Yagyuu shakes his head and tries to make a sound - incredilous laugh or something, anything because his chest aches in a way that it threatens to implode. "I believe you" Yagyuu says and in turn, he walks up to Yanagi,  who doesn’t move.
Yagyuu takes off his glasses and pockets them.
Yanagi opens his eyes.
They face each other with less layers.
It is simple - a hand reaching up, a thumb extending to trace the curve of Yanagi's upper lip. It isn't sentimental, the index finger presses and touches the supple skin like a seven year old touching a ladybug - curious and cautious.
Yanagi lets him. Yagyuu's curiousity is short-lived.
"I cannot even call you by your first name."
"That is because we've become used to certain things."
"Is it strange to belong to two people?" Yagyuu knows the meaning of covenants and the dire consequences of breaking them. Somehow in Rikkai's strict hierarchy, he felt displaced.
Yanagi doesn't answer his question, but speaks in careful words.
"It is brave to belong to no one."
Yagyuu smiles sadly because he sees that Yanagi knows nothing about him. How possession isn't a straightforward fact: It can be when you dance on broken glass to please the one person who isn't looking. To say everything to that person that one person that isn't listening.
Yagyuu smiles because - he doesn't belong to anyone but he's given himself to someone who doesn't want him.
"Tell me what you're thinking, Yagyuu." there is a slant of worry.
Renji! from a distance they both can hear Genichirou.
"Once..." and the Gentleman beckons Yanagi as a massive wave comes in and despite protest Yanagi moves with him and they crash beautifully with blue-black water, the undertow pulling them below and once submerged, then they kiss.
Yagyuu's lips tastes like sea foam, Yanagi thinks before returning it - powerful and hungry - like the sea.  And like all things that one borrows, Yanagi returns Yagyuu, breathless. The wave rolls and they break away before they hit the surface.
When they do, the first thing they see are Sanada and Yukimura by the shore.
"Are you both alright?" Sanada doesn't sound pleasant. Yukimura just looks on, all-knowing.
They scurry back to land, as Yanagi speaks first. "We were talking, Genichirou. Then a wave hit." Sanada doesn't look like he believes it but says nothing more as Yukimura injects his opinion. "The tides are indeed high, tonight." And Yukimura walks away.
Yagyuu understands now, as he watches Yanagi and Sanada follow Yukimura.
Their Captain pauses to wait for them and his hand claps over Yanagi’s back gently to make sure he's okay and Sanada ruffles Yanagi's hair gently, a rare display of affection -- or a rudimentary display of possession.
Yagyuu doesn't miss the glance that Yanagi gives him, as if it speaks of all the  impossibilities.
Yagyuu inhales and then exhales - he lets himself fall - a soft thud as the sand catches him. The sky is painted black - with tiny splinters of silver. He reaches into his pocket and feels the coin that had been the sole guide to this unspoken, unrecognized love.
Heads, they win...
He flips it again.
Tails, we lose...
The coin lands half-buried and he leans up to check.
Heads. He laughs silently, but without humor. Thinking of that one kiss and the behemoth that stands after they resurfaced. Yagyuu laughs and knows he will hate the water forever. As much as he would love Yanagi for eternity.
Away you go.
Yagyuu thinks of Yanagi.
"Enough."

Easter Retrospective: Some Finished Fics I’m Proud of
Today, I share a bit of introspection. I'm not a prolific writer in the least - I'll be lucky if I can finish one short fic a week - but I've finished some pieces I'm really proud of.
And my top 3 are all AUs.
(Please note that not all the links posted here are Ironstrange - in fact only two of them are. You have a free pass to scroll past this post if it is of no interest to you.)
1. Saying Your Names [Drpepperony, MCU, fantasy AU] - Written for @amethyst-noir . This is still fresh in my head so I can't be objective, but I REALLY like how this one turned out. Battlemages, Knight Captains, mother-names - cliche elements as far as fantasy stuff goes, I think...but if there's one setting I'm thinking of expanding into an original-unoriginal novel, it's probably this one.
2. Big Brother [Prince of Tennis, Gen] - Mafia AU summary: The younger brother of Fuji Shuusuke dies in a lawless city. As Fuji hunts for the killer there, he finds a ragtag "gang" sheltered and trained by a charismatic boy, Tachibana Kippei. He stays with them until someone new comes into the city and sets up a territory - someone who could have murdered his brother.
I like to delude myself into thinking this can be read even if you don't have the first knowledge of TeniPuri. But I haven't read it again recently, so, I may be wrong.
3. Untitled Eyeshield 21 Time Travel AU [Gen, and yep, there's no other title] - This was originally conceptualized as plotless crack. I just wanted to make a Doctor Who parody using Eyeshield 21 (mostly Kyoshin Poseidon, woo!) characters...but it grew into this whole THING with an actual plot. It starts off slow, but I love how the ending and the setting wrote itself.
Runners-up (not AUs):
1. At the Stars [Seiji/Touma, Seiji/Ryo, Ryo/Touma] - Yoroiden Samurai Troopers/Ronin Warriors fic - that should give you an idea how old I am xD XD I wrote this fic out in a fever dream during a rather dark time in my life, so to me it stands as proof that I can come up with fairly beautiful crap, even when life seems at its bleakest. Longest fic I've ever written, too.
2. The Piano Room [Katekyou Hitman Reborn!, Gokudera-centric gen] - Gokudera vs OC. My testament to how much I love this effed-up little genius.
3. Love Through Time [Ironstrange] - Written for @cumberceiolnbatch . I find that most of the fics I'm proudest of were written during a sort of fugue state. This was one of those fics. That probably means there's a lot about it that needs fixing up, but I can't ever be trusted to do that.
I'm also fond of a couple of fics I've written that are too personal to see the light of day, plus a couple of others...Six Days at the Bottom of the Ocean [Katekyou Hitman Reborn!, Gokudera + Yamamoto gen] and Fascination [Richard Armitage/Lee Pace RPF] come to mind, but I think I'll stop here.
The truth is, I love all my babies, and it's starting to feel like I'm choosing favorites XD
If you’ve read this far, I’m curious: which of my fics is/are your favorite/s? And which of YOUR fics are your favorites? I’d love to give them a shot :)
