Previous Chapter
“We should talk about renewing the lease,” I shouted over the music, flipping pancakes. Tasha was sitting on the counter, eating the blueberries that were supposed to be added to the batter.
“I’ve been thinking about that,” Tasha spoke through a mouthful of fruit, “I think you should move out.” The words didn’t process immediately, lingering in the air as the pancake began to burn in the pan. Move out? How could my best friend want me to move out? We didn’t argue, I cooked her favorites whenever she wanted them, I didn’t leave my dirty clothes on the hallway floor unlike someone I could point fingers at.
“You should,” I took a deep breath. “You should keep explaining before I start crying.” Tasha snorted out a laugh, hopping off the counter to hug me from behind and I moved the pan off the burner to keep myself from burning anything else.
“You know I love you and how much I love living with you, my little tequila tornado,” She kissed my cheek. “But you’re engaged, you and Hangman fuck like rabbits, which, ew.” Okay, so Natasha wasn’t mad at me. I laughed softly. “And you’ve got boat loads of money, sooooooo,” She squeezed my hips. “I think you should buy a house and start filling it up with more nieces I can spoil.”
“Jake and I haven’t even talked about all of that stuff yet, I mean, kids yeah, but not moving in together.” Natasha made a angry buzzer noise,
“You’re engaged, nauseatingly in love, and did I mention all of the sex?” I pushed Tasha off of me, shaking my head as I laughed. She stuck her tongue out, “You’re telling me if you pulled up a Zillow listing and texted to Hangman, he wouldn’t agree to buy the house without even looking at it?”
“I think he’d at least look at it,” I busied myself while Natasha laughed, throwing out the burnt pancake. “But before you kick me out, at least let me talk to the guy.”
“Whatever,” Natasha grabbed one of the pancakes off the stack and took a bite. “Aww, there’s no blueberries in this one.”
“That’s because someone was slacking on their blueberry duties,” I pointed the spatula at her. “Now come on, we’ve still got some batter left.”
Natasha’s idea of moving in with Jake had quickly taken root in my brain and she was right, technically I had enough money to buy a house all on my own. Nothing fancy, I didn’t have millions lying around, but I had enough and I also had an agent who loved making me happy.
“Hey, baby,” Jake sounded out of breath. “What’s up?”
“You know how you like to say things that make my brain explode?” I bit the tip of my thumb, eyeing the yellow fixer-upper Jason had sent me. One story, three bedrooms, a fenced in backyard. It needed a little love and DIY but the more I looked at the listing photos, the more I could see it becoming the perfect first house. A yard for Pretty, an office for me, and plenty of space to have the Daggers over.
“You’re cute when you’re flustered,” Jake chuckled. “What’s going on, baby?”
“Move in with me. I’ll buy this house Jason found for us, you let me decorate however I want, and maybe you can move some of the boxes shirtless.” Jake’s silence transitioned into random noises and half sentences. “Not so fun being the one who has to reboot their brain, is it, cowboy?”
“You want to buy a house?”
“Well, Tasha said I should buy a house and start having babies with you,”
“Jesus, Wildflower,” Jake choked and coughed. “You’re hell bent on giving me a heart attack this morning, aren’t you?” I laughed, laying back against the pillows next to Pretty Boy, who was snuggled up for a mid-morning nap. “I’m like two miles away from your apartment, give me a few minutes and we can talk about this in person.”
“You out for a run?” I dropped my voice a bit, teasing him, “All hot and sweaty?” Jake groaned,
“I do not need to be hard while running two miles, Wildflower. Behave.”
“Or what?”
About an hour later we were laying in bed with the laptop perched on my lap. Jake had refused to take his hands on me since entering my room, even when I forced him to shower, which had been a little complicated with the size of our bathroom.
“How long has Jason been looking at houses for us?” Jake asked, kissing my shoulder.
“About a week,” I pulled up the list of houses, condos, and apartments Jason’s real estate agent had sent over. “I really like the yellow one but it’s going to need some work to make it perfect.”
“Lucky for you, your husband is good with his hands,” One of those hands slid over top of my thigh, squeezing. “In more ways than one.” If we weren’t careful, we’d never end up looking at the houses.
“Hands to yourself, fiance,” I elbowed him gently, “We’ve got things to talk about. Especially if you want to keep calling yourself my husband without the paperwork.”
“We could fix that, all we need is a witness and a judge,” Jake moved the laptop, moving me on top of his lap. Jake kissed my jaw, then my neck, “And I love the yellow house, even if I’m going to break my back renovating that kitchen.”
“We can look at houses with already remodeled kitchens,” I offered, tilting my head back to give him better access to my neck. “Save your back.” Jake made a rumbly noise when I dragged my nails gently down the muscles of his back, “Or maybe we keep looking and-fuck, Jake.” He chuckled, sucking a hickey into my neck.
“I kind of like the idea of building the kitchen of your dreams with my own two hands.” Was it possible to be any more in love with Jake? I didn’t think so.
X
Daisy had been solely focused on the idea of moving in together. I tried not to take it personally that it was more because she was avoiding one of her writing deadlines. Not that she wasn’t excited for the right reasons though. The day after we had viewed the house on her laptop we had scheduled a viewing of the house and put in an offer, I tried not to feel like a sugar baby while Daisy managed all of the finances involved. I made good money as a pilot but according to the phone calls I had overheard between Daisy and Jason, my bank account was nothing compared to hers.
Rooster was understanding about the whole thing, apparently he was looking forward to living alone. Without a roommate he could “play the field more.” Javy was also excited, he and Phoenix were talking about moving in together. Well, they were mostly arguing about it. Javy liked his apartment, it was nice and there was a pool at the complex. Phoenix didn’t want to pack her stuff and she liked how Daisy had decorated their current apartment.
But today was all about Mav and Penny. Well, mostly Mav. He had decided to wear a suit instead of his dress whites for their wedding and didn’t trust that any of us had suits that weren’t leftover from junior prom, so he had ordered us guys to meet him at a local shop to get fitted for suits.
“Never I thought I’d see the day where Hangman got engaged,” Maverick patted me on the shoulder while I looked between fabric samples. “Proud of you, kid.”
“Thanks, Mav,” I sighed. “I’m glad you’re going first though,” I was. I wanted to see one of the other aviators get married to sooth the irrational part of my brain that liked to whisper that it would never work. That someone who risked their life every day when they went to work, disappeared for months at a time for deployments, and couldn’t always talk about what they did. The risk, the secrets, the possible time spent apart… I was worried.
“And I’m glad Goose and Ice did it before me,” Mav said softly, getting a far away look in his eyes. “They showed me what a good marriage looks like and I’m hoping you and I can do it half as well as them.”
The sentiment hit me hard. I thought about my parents and my sisters, how happy they all were in their marriages despite the challenges. I looked down at the silver band on my left hand, the ring Daisy had gotten me to wear when I wasn’t in the air even though I told her I didn’t need one. I knew its weight was minimal but staring down at it, knowing what it meant, that made it feel like a thousand pound weight on my finger.
“No paisley suits, Hangman,” Mav patted my shoulder again before walking away. I laughed softly to myself, I had flipped to an orange and pink paisley fabric swatch without realizing it.
Jake: I love you
Daisy: I love you too
Daisy: Can’t wait to see you in your suit xoxo

Calling The Distortion "Michael" in the same way people give names to their appliances. Michael The Distortion = Basil The Microwave. That's not really its name and if you call it that it doesn't really fit

Part I
━━━━⊱♡⊰━━━━
Simon sits across from you at your tiny dining table pressed against the wall of your cramped kitchen. You managed to lure him in with a fairly nice bottle of unopened scotch you found in the back of your cabinet that had potentially fallen into one of your own boxes when moving from your ex's house.
He looks around your quaint little one bedroom apartment. It was a lot different than his own. The literal layout was the same. No extra rooms or walls but you’d done something different in here. The whole space had a cozy feeling to it. Every surface was decorated with useless gadgets and trinkets that he didn't understand the purpose of. Lots of blankets, pillows, soft things. You had music quietly playing through your TV speakers in the living room. A few lamps fill the dim room creating a subtle yellow glow that hits the high points of your face, softening your tired features.
"Do you think there's something wrong with me?" you suddenly blurt out.
"S'cuse me?" Simon asks, caught off guard by the question.
"Lately I've been feeling like there's something inside of me that attracts horrible guys. Like, is there a beacon coming out my head that says 'hey, come over here. I'm vulnerable and easy'."
Simon pauses, unsure how to respond. He watches your face closely. You're sad eyes looking to him for an answer he doesn't have. "I think you're...nice," but he has a feeling that's not what you wanted to hear.
"nice?" You let out a humorless laugh. "Maybe that's the problem. Nice must translate to doormat," You sigh and drop your head into your hands.
Simon takes a sip of his drink. He's growing concerned this is entering too friendly territory. Then you pop your head back up.
"So, how much did you hear?"
"Not much"
"Yeah right," You toss him a coy smile. “Can I tell you what happened?”
“Sure,”
“Alright, so” you take a sip of your own drink and a deep breath before recounting your story. "I met him at work. He was really nice and offered to pick me up a coffee on his way in one day. I haven’t made any friends at work yet so it was nice just to chat over a coffee. Then we started having lunch together. Nothing serious just in the break room but it felt good to hear about something other than notes from my editor. I wasn’t looking for anything serious, I mean I moved here to focus on myself not continue dating more crappy guys. So of course he started texting me and he was really sweet. He complimented my outfits and thought all my jokes were hilarious apparently. I really wasn’t trying to get involved with this guy though. He said something about hearing I can cook and of course I said I do. It’s part of my job, duh. He’s giving my shit about it so I invited him over for dinner. I made this creamy potato gnocchi with Italian sausage that I got from that great butcher on the corner. I even hand rolled the gnocchi. I mean, who wouldn't kill for an authentic Italian meal?"
"He's sounds like some guy"
"Not really, I was testing out a new recipe for the column so, two birds one stone. Anyways, he comes up and we have some wine and listen to some music. It was going really well so far. Then I go to bring out a nice charcuterie board for an appetizer while the pasta finishes baking. While I'm bringing it to him I can see he's on his phone, texting someone and literally giggling. I walk up behind him and he is sexting. On my couch!" you throw you hands up incredulously. "Well, I thought he was. He’s looking at a picture of some girl bent over then I realize it’s me. He took a picture of my ass, while I was making him dinner. I couldn't fucking believe it. What kind of a scumbag does that to a woman preparing a fucking meal for him? Now, this is not something I'm proud of so let the record show this is very out of character for me but these were extraordinary circumstances. So, I dropped the fig chutney on his head. Right in his stupid quaffed hair. He jumps up and he's all mad and starts yelling and I'm yelling back. He calls me a crazy bitch then I call him a perv. After that he left." you conclude with a shrug.
"Wow" Simon responds, truly taken aback by the series of events.
"Yeah, then you know the rest from there. I don't know what came over me. I guess after my last breakup I haven't felt very good about myself and this guy made me feel, I don't know- fun? That feels silly to say. I should’ve known better from a guy that works the celebrity gossip section. I probably looked like a big baby out there, how dramatic. I'm sorry about that, again."
"You don't need to apologize."
"After I moved here I thought things would be different. I thought guys in the city were classier I guess. Turns out all guys are the same. Just take what they want and go. Do you want another drink?" You point to his now empty glass.
"Sure." You snag his cup and stand. He watches you walk over to the counter in your silky slip dress. The sleek fabric clings to your waist. Flaring around your hips and down your thighs. The warm light reflects on the shiny material, shifting with each step you take. It tightens perfectly about your waist and cinched with a neat little bow in the back. He wonders why you would wear a dress like that for this guy.
"So, do you date?" you question in a seemingly casual tone.
"No"
"Yeah right," you laugh and look over your shoulder to see his stoney expression and your smile fades. "Oh, sorry, I just- I find that hard to believe."
"Why is that?" He tilts his head and you focus back on filling his glass.
"It's just, you're a good looking guy. I would think you'd get plenty of female attention," You pivot back around and place the glass before him. You lean on the table with one hand and prop the other on your waist.
"'M not interested," his gaze stays fixed on the brown liquid, grabbing it and taking another sip. He doesn't miss the way you deflated the slightest bit.
"Maybe I should take a page out of your book, as in maybe swearing off men completely" The oven timer dings. "Oh! pasta!" You jump over and grab your oven mitts. You drop the oven door and slide out the sizzling dish. An aroma of cheese and basil fills the air. Your stomach audibly growls.
You pull down two plates from your cabinet. You serve up the steaming pasta, sprinkling parmesan and fresh chopped herbs for garnish. You proudly carry over the two dishes and place them carefully on the table. You place your hands on your hips while gazing down at the platter.
"This looks...great." Simon is truly taken aback by the incredible looking dish.
"Wait, don't eat yet. Let me get a picture." You scamper into your living room, grabbing your phone off the coffee table and scurrying back. You hold your phone high above for a birds eye view. Simon scoots his chair back to avoid the gaze of the lens. The camera clicks with a flash. You examine the photo, seeming satisfied with the quality and finally taking a seat in your own chair. "It was okay if you were in the picture. I don't mind."
"I do," he says simply.
To anyone else, Simon comes off as rude or callous but you, you never seem to let his shortness affect you. You take his words and just keep going. You don't mind his lack of conversation. It seems you are totally satisfied with having someone there to listen. He was starting to think he didn't mind listening so much.
"Oh," You shift uncomfortably in your chair. "Sorry then. Well, let me know what you think. Try to be detailed with your feelings about it if you can. You're my guinea pig and be honest. I don't want to put this out when it's garbage."
He proceeds to take a forkful in his mouth. He cannot control the groan that escapes his throat as the bold flavor hits his tongue. This is far cry from his usual take away food. He can't remember the last time he had a home cooked meal now that he thinks about it.
"This is quite good." He grumbled between bites. Not caring to finish chewing before he's stabbing at the pasta on the plate once again.
"Really? You don't need to be nice to spare my feelings. I don't mind criticism."
He shoves more in his mouth. "I’m serious"
"Thank you" You giggle watching him scarf down the still steaming hot meal.
The two of you finish your respective plates without much more conversation to be had. On your last few bites you meet Simon's eyes as he reclines back in the creaky wooden chair, hands laying across his stomach. His head tips back with a satisfied grumble making a proud smile play across your lips. This may be the first time you've seen him express a true human emotion in your presence.
"There's more if you want?"
"No, I'm stuffed."
If you know one thing as a part time chef, food is the way to a man's heart. You knew if Simon tasted what you could make his ice exterior would melt away. You stand up and walk to the fridge.
"Too stuffed for dessert?" you pull out a glass bowl filled with layers of custard, strawberries, cake, and whipped cream. "I made a traditional English trifle. Y'know for the holidays coming up and who doesn't love custard?" you shrug while carrying the bowl over to the table. You hurry back to the kitchen to grab two saucers and plate up the dessert.
"If I didn't know any better I'd say you're trying to butter me up." he comments, intently watching as you carefully slice through the layers. "What do you know about English food?"
"Not much, which is why this is a special occasion. I can get some insight from a genuine Englishman," you slide the saucer to him. "Everything happens for a reason, I guess you were meant to be here tonight" you don’t realize how weird that comment is until it's already left your mouth. You suppress the feeling and internally cringe. You take a seat with your own plate and try a bite. "Hey, that's not too bad. I think Gordon Ramsey would be proud"
Simon actually chuckles when you compliment yourself making you giggle in return. This whole night is very different than you expected. Not that you were complaining.
Your leg bumps his underneath the narrow table. Your bare foot brushing up the edge of his pant leg for the briefest moment. A deep blush rises to your cheeks the second you realize it's his leg instead of the table's.
"Oh, sorry!" you quickly draw your legs underneath your chair. Simon pauses his eating and meets your gaze.
"S'alright," he slowly slides his long leg across the distance and nudges the shin of your tucked legs with the toe of his boot. "You scared?"
"What?" you allow your legs to relax, your calves sitting on either side of his outstretched leg. It felt natural, almost domestic. "You don't scare me." you're lying paired with an anxious laugh.
"No?" As he says this his foot shifts underneath the supports of your chair and yanks it forward causing your chair to skid a few inches across the tile, pressing you further into the table as you let you a surprised yelp. Hands brace against the edge of the table. Simon maintains his calm composure. "Are you sure?" he takes another bite of the fluffy dessert.
You weren't sure if it was the liquor going to your head or the rush of adrenaline but you felt bold. You rest your cheek on your propped up hand, offering the most innocent eyes you can muster, as you delicately slide your foot along the smooth leather of his boot. Simon swallows and gently places his fork back on the table.
"What do you think of it?" you question in a hushed tone. your foot travels further up his ankle, dipping under his pant leg to feel his hot skin underneath.
"It's sweet," He states simply but his words roll off his tongue smooth as butter.
"Not too sweet?" You tilt your head the slightest bit.
"Hm," he hums in contemplation. Your eyes drift down to watch his hands grasp his drink. He grips the glass in his large palm. The rolled sleeves of his long sleeve reveal the muscles in his arm shifting when he raises the glass to his mouth. For the first time you notice a faint raised scar cutting through the outer corner of his lip and stopping just shy of the edge of his nose. He takes a long swig of the brown liquid, not quite finishing the drink. As he pulls back his lips glisten in the warm light. "Not bad when it's paired with a stiff drink," his tongue is quick to swipe across, collecting the residue.
"I'll be sure to make a note of that." you smile sweetly. "Can I get you another drink?" You look down at the last sip coating the bottom of the glass. You make sure to flutter your lashes when you look back up at him.
"Are you trying to get me drunk?" A smirk raises the corner of his mouth.
"No," you laugh. "Why, do you want me to?"
He releases a deep gravelly laugh that makes your stomach stir. Then he glances at his watch and your stomach drops.
"I need to get going." He mumbles. He pulls his leg away from yours and rises out of his chair.
"Wait," you rush to stand, almost knocking your seat over in the process. "Can I- uh- get you a bit of pasta to go? There’s plenty left" Trying to think of any excuse to keep him here a moment longer.
"S'okay, save it. Maybe I'll come by another time." He turns and steps out of your kitchen and into the hallway leading to your front door in only a few wide strides.
"Are you sure?" You don't intend for your voice to come out as needy as it does. You follow on his heels like a lost puppy.
"I've got an early morning." Before he reaches the door he turns, seemingly surprised by how close you are to him. He looks down at your big round eyes.
"Okay," you smile trying not to look defeated. "Well, you're welcome over anytime. I mean it, just knock and I'll probably be home. I'm gonna try writing at home more. Try to avoid that guy." You let out a halfhearted chuckle. "Maybe, you should get my number. Y'know, in case you want to check if I'm home."
"I'm alright, I'll just knock" His hand finds the doorknob. "Thanks for dinner, it was nice" Then he turns to go. Closing the door politely behind him.
You rush to the peephole, watching his distorted figure step out of sight followed by the sound of his own door shutting. You rest your hot forehead against the cool wood grain of your door.
You step back in the kitchen and begin putting away the leftovers. Piling the pasta into tupperware, rinsing the plates, collecting silverware. His glass remains in place with a sliver of scotch leftover. You hold the glass up in the light and see a faint smudge on its rim. You twist the cup around so your own mouth lines up with the imprint he left. You swallow the last bit slowly, savoring the way the sharp burn eases into a smooth, smoky aftertaste. You never liked scotch, but now you are starting to understand the meaning of an acquired taste.
The low atmospheric music is abruptly interrupted by an ad loudly cutting through the calm space. You rush into the living room to find the remote, hiding among the cushions and various throw pillows. Growing frustrated you end up walking over and manually hitting the power button. The silence that replaces it isn’t much better though. You step back and let your weak legs carry you until you collapse onto the comfort of your couch. The wine followed by the glass of scotch you polished off makes your head feel light but your limbs so heavy. You turn from your back to your side, realizing the used glass is still clutched in your hand.
You reach across the gap and set it down on the coffee table with a thud. Your hand retreats back to rest under your head. You stare at it, taking in all the imperfections left on its reflective surface. Your eyes trace the rim once again looking for the smudge. On the corner you see the shadow of an impression peeking out underneath the red lipstick mark you have smeared over it.
𝜗𝜚
Across the wall Simon falls back on his own couch. He looks around his dull apartment wondering what you have done differently to make your place look so welcoming. He never minded the minimal decorations he had. A photo frame with his team that his buddy gifted him and a couple of books always seemed like enough. After comparison though it just feels empty.
He can hear you stomp across your floor. Footstep rushing from the kitchen until you're straight ahead. The sound of your TV turning off bathes the room in sudden silence. Only thing he can hear now is the rushing of his air conditioning unit. He considered your music annoying but now he couldn’t deny the way it added an unconscious energy to the small unit. Now sitting here, the cool tone of the overhead kitchen light illuminating into the living room he feels as though something is missing. Maybe a nice lamp would help.

Run. You've been running for what felt like hours already. The throbbing pain on your lower back was unbearable but you pushed forward, God you don't even know where you were going at this point. Despite the chilliness the night carried, you still felt the sweat forming on your forehead and dripping down your back. Your feet are throbbing, legs are shaking, and your eyesight is starting to get even more blurry.
Someone help me.
Next thing you knew, you were falling on the ground, head hitting a boulder before blacking out.
-
Soft humming and cabinets shutting were the ones to wake you from your slumber, despite that, you kept your eyes closed. The soft pillow and sheets you were laying on was alarming to you. You blacked out in the middle of nowhere, not in a cozy room.
Why am I here? Who brought me here? Who am I with?
Peeking with one eye, you were startled when you saw a female looking down at you with her doe eyes.
"Oh good! You're awake, thank heavens." she happily exclaimed before standing up straight. You took this as an opportunity to examine her from head to toe. She had long luscious black hair, dark eyes and pale skin. She was adorned in an old yellow farm dress, a straw hat with white ribbon was resting on her back and she held what looked like a laundry basket by her hips.
Attempting to sit up, you halted when a throbbing pain shot through your head and lower back. Right, you were almost murdered.
"Careful now!" the unnamed girl exclaimed, holding her hand up to stop you. "You're still severely injured, my brothers haven't got home yet.. I'd treat your wounds but.." she looked around and shrugged. "I'm a bit nervous since your wounds are really deep.. like it's been done to kill."
Because I was about to get killed. Was what you wanted to say, nevertheless, you nodded instead and fell back on the bed, wincing slightly at the impact on your back.
"Don't worry, the bleeding has stopped and I've bandaged you up. You should rest more, they'll be back before the sun sets." She smiles before closing the bedroom door and by the time you heard the click, you unwillingly fell into another deep slumber.
-
With furrowed brows, the boy examined the wounds before exhaling. He pondered deeply the possible scenarios and situations you could be into to end up with four stab wounds on your lower back.
He was restless, not because of your critical condition. No, definitely not that. He could care less about you, in fact, he wouldn't even treat you if it weren't for his sister's constant nagging on treating you. He was restless, because if his sister was the one to find you in the woods, it meant that your "murderer" could be close to their home.
They've been living in the woods for almost all their lives, they've never encountered anything like this. If they were to find something dead on the woods, it's either a deer, bunny, or birds. Not a girl who's on her early 20s. It was alarming for him.
Though he felt a bit of pity for you. How did you even end up in the woods? He could tell from your outfit that you were someone who definitely lives in the city.
A knock on the door brought him back from his thoughts. Turning around to look, he made contact with his older brother's eyes. "Are you done? Chloe just finished with dinner. Come eat."
He nodded, pulling your tshirt down as he stood up and left the room. Not sparing a single glance on your direction.
-
You were back in the woods. Running from him again. You could feel the tears forming on your tear ducts and a lump forming on your throat. The sound of his footsteps only made you go faster. The pain on your lower back was starting to become unbearable, and before you could trip and fall..
You woke up abruptly, chest heaving up and down violently as a tear fell down your right eye. Taking the time to look around the unfamiliar room, you spotted an untouched soup on the bedside table.
Throwing the blanket off your legs, you quietly got off the bed with a pained grunt. The bandage around your body was comforting and the pain was more bearable now. You could hear faint murmurs outside and dishes clattering.
Her brothers are probably home now. Your hand hovered over the old door knob hesitatingly, you could hear your heart beating faster. When you were about to turn the knob, a loud voice from outside stopped you.
"We don't even know a thing about her! As far as we're concerned, she's dangerous." A stern voice exclaimed followed by a loud thud.
"She's in danger! If you kick her out now there's a hundred percent chance she'll be dead before the sun fully sets," this time, the same soft voice of the girl you've met a while ago spoke, "and can you lower down your voice?"
You blinked as panic starts to overcome your system. Right, you were still in the middle of nowhere with people you didn't know. Swallowing the lump in your throat, you looked around the room, the bed was unkept, obviously, the soup on the bedside table still untouched, the single window is closed but you could feel the breeze from outside entering through.
Everything is made with wood, it's a cabin.
"Okay, calm down. No one's kicking anybody-"
"Heeseung-!"
"Chloe has a point Jay, you do too, but if we kick her out.. might as well kill her here in her sleep instead of letting her go and make her play cat and mice with an unknown person for who knows how long." you furrowed your brows with his choice of words, but he was correct in some way, you'd rather die in your sleep than get kicked out back in the woods and get stabbed to death.
Exhaling a heavy sigh, you took notice of a folded paper peeking from your pillow. Quietly, you approached the bed lightly to avoid the attention of the siblings outside, sitting down on the bed, you took the paper and opened it.
As quickly as you opened it, the paper was immediately crumbled in your palm as your breathing grew heavy overtime. Your eye caught the way the door knob turned, alerting you that someone was coming. You threw the paper under the bed before the door finally opened.
"You're awake!" You didn't have it in your system to smile back as the words in the paper was still repeating like a mantra in your head.
'Trust no one, Y/N. Especially not my siblings.' You don't remember telling anyone your name.

_____________________________
[...] was flipping through a history book, his fingers absentmindedly sliding across the yellowed, image-filled pages, dictating to his partner, Jake, important parts which to write down in the notebook. They were in the library, finishing a project for school. The afternoon sun filtered through the windows, bathing the room in a warm golden glow.
"[...]?" Jake broke the silence, his voice soft but firm. "I think we could use this information for the presentation, I mean, to focus the idea from the beginning and attract everyone's attention."
[...] nodded, not really looking at what Jake was pointing at. His mind was elsewhere, lost in memories and emotions that he still couldn't fully understand.
Ever since he had kissed him, everything felt different. He clearly remembered the moment, two weeks ago, when Heeseung had kissed him passionately, mistaking him for Chloe. Later when he went to his house to apologize, an apology that had been clumsy, and although Heeseung had tried to explain that before Chloe, he had had feelings for [...], words had not been enough to heal the wound he had left.
Just then, a tall, thin girl with wavy blonde hair approached them. It was Minjeong, a mutual acquaintance he had with his former best friend, Heeseung.
"Hey guuuuys," she said with a beaming smile. "I'm hosting a party this weekend. Would you like to come?"
[...] took his eyes off the book, looking up, a little surprised. He hadn't expected an invitation to a party, much less from someone related to Heeseung. He looked at Jake, who looked just as bewildered as he was, but then nodded.
"Sure, Min. We'd love to go," Jake replied, trying to keep his tone enthusiastic.
The rest of the week passed quickly, but not without incident. [...] noticed Heeseung's possessive gaze following him through the school hallways several times. Heeseung had once tried to approach him while he was at his locker, but Jake had appeared just in time, grabbing him by the shoulders and leading him to chemistry class.
"Thanks, Jake," [...] murmured, feeling a mix of relief and frustration. Jake just nodded, his face serious, clearly determined to keep [...] safe from further confusion and pain.
The day of the party arrived. [...] decided to go to his room after school to change. He was looking for a suitable t-shirt when his friend appeared at the door of his room, spreading his arms as soon as [...] opened the door, making him laugh at how he raised his eyebrows in search of his approval—about the look.
"Do you need help?" Jake asked, with a mischievous smile.
[...] nodded and let Jake rummage through his closet. Finally, the brunette took out a dark blue t-shirt, with some letters and a drawing in the middle of it.
"This one would look good on you," Jake said, extending it to him.
"Thank you very much, my moon," [...] said with a smile, noticing the blush on his friend's ears but deciding not to say anything.
Ethan began to take off the shirt he was wearing, and Jake, seeing Ethan's naked torso, couldn't help but blush brightly. He turned around quickly, pretending to search for something else in the closet to avoid looking at him.
"Okaaay, I like what I see," [...] said with a smile, still noticing the blush on his friend's cheeks after he turned around. [...] put on the shirt Jake had picked out for him and looked in the mirror. "I think we're ready."
As they left the dormitories, night began to fall, covering the campus in a blanket of stars. The two walked along the street-lit path, their shadows lengthening behind them. The night breeze was cool and pleasant, and there was a sense of anticipation in the air.
"I hope the party isn't too loud," [...] commented, adjusting the shirt. "At least... I hope she don't make her neighbors call the police again."
"Meeting Minjeong and Karina when they're drunk, it'll be like last time," Jake replied with a smile and a soft laugh. "But maybe it would do us good to relax a little."
They arrived at the bus stop just in time to see their transport approaching. They climbed in and sat together in the back, watching the city lights flash past the window.
"Are you nervous about seeing Heeseung?" Jake asked, breaking the silence. His voice was soft, almost a whisper.
[...] shrugged, looking out the window as he thought about everything that had happened. "I don't know, Jake. Part of me wants to talk to him, but another part of me is afraid of what he might say."
Jake slapped him on the thigh. "I'll be with you. You don't have to face it alone."
The bus stopped near Minjeong's house, and the boys got off, grateful for the warm summer night that enveloped them. As they walked towards the house, they could hear the rumbling of the music and laughter coming from inside.
It was almost 9 p.m. when they arrived at the door of Minjeong's house. The party was already in full swing, with people dancing in the room and groups gathered around the drinks table. The colorful lights illuminated the living room, and the atmosphere was electric.
"[...], Jake!" Minjeong greeted them enthusiastically, opening the door for them. "I'm so glad you guys came!"
Minjeong's smile was contagious, and the boys immediately felt welcome. [...] exchanged glances with Jake, who nodded slightly, as if reminding him that he was there for him.
As they walked deeper into the crowd, [...] couldn't help but look for Heeseung, his emotions constantly shifting between hope and fear. He knew that tonight could change everything, and a part of him was ready to face whatever came, while the other wanted to run away.
The music pulsed around them, and [...] tried to relax, taking a drink Jake offered him and allowing himself, at least for a moment, to enjoy the company of his friends.
To tell the truth, he moved through the party with a naturalness that surprised even himself. At first, he had felt the typical tightness in his chest when arriving at a place full of people, but the atmosphere had enveloped him, helping him relax, just as the brunette said. The loud music encouraged him to move, to greet acquaintances and to let himself be carried away by the moment.
With a drink in hand, [...] approached a group of classmates who were talking about a couple of gossips going on on campus. Their laughter and light jokes alleviated the restlessness that had accompanied him since the beginning of the night. Little by little, he felt more in his element, smiling and laughing with an ease he had forgotten he possessed.
Jake, meanwhile, watched [...] from a couch in the middle of the living room. A part of him was happy to see his friend enjoying himself, but another part, smaller but impossible to ignore, He felt a pang as he saw how others also enjoyed his company.
He settled back on the couch, pretending to be more interested in his drink than [...]'s figure. But his eyes betrayed him, searching for him in the crowd, always aware of where he was and who he was talking to. His feelings for [...] were complicated; he loved him more than a friend, but he was also afraid of ruining what they had by trying something else, given the circumstances.
Jake noticed a change in the atmosphere of the party when he saw Heeseung at the edge of his vision, slowly moving towards [...]. The crowd seemed to open up for him, as if fate itself was conspiring to bring them closer. Heeseung had that inscrutable expression that Jake had come to know well, a mix of regret and determination.
As Heeseung approached, Jake felt his heart race, a mix of worry and jealousy coursing through him. He wanted to protect [...] from any further pain, but he also knew that there were issues between [...] and Heeseung that needed to be resolved. Still, a part of him wished that [...] wouldn't fall back into the arms of Heeseung, who had already caused him so much pain.
Finally, Heeseung reached [...], gently touching his arm to get his attention. [...] turned, and when he saw him, his smile faded a little, replaced by an expression of caution.
"[...], can I talk to you?" Heeseung asked, his voice barely audible over the music making him lean closer to one of [...]'s ears.
[...] hesitated for a moment, his gaze briefly meeting Jake's, who offered him an almost imperceptible nod, a reminder that he was there if he needed him.
"Fine.." [...] finally responded, his voice calm but filled with unresolved emotions. He followed Heeseung to a quieter corner of the house, away from the hustle and bustle of the party.
Jake watched them walk away, a feeling of helplessness settling in his chest. He wanted [...] to be happy, even if it meant letting him go with Heeseung. But, for now, all he could do was wait and be ready to offer his support if things didn't go the way his best friend hoped.
In the secluded corner of the house, Heeseung and [...] faced each other, surrounded by the dim light and the murmur of distant music. The tension between them was palpable, and [...] prepared himself for the conversation he knew he needed to have.
"Heeseung, what do you want?" [...] asked, his arms crossed in a defensive posture.
Heeseung swallowed, his eyes searching [...]'s desperately. "I just want you to know how sorry I am, sweetheart. Everything that happened... was a mistake, and I haven't stopped thinking about it."
"It was a mistake that apparently took you a lot to understand," [...] replied, his voice heavy with sadness. "I don't know if I'm ready to forgive you, or even want to see you."
"I understand," Heeseung nodded, his voice breaking. "But before everything got complicated, you were important to me, more than I wanted to admit. I want to try to fix things, if you let me."
[...] looked at him, his emotions a whirlwind. He remembered all the moments he shared with Heeseung, the good and the bad, and how he had always felt a special connection with him. But he also remembered the pain of hearing Chloe's name leave Heeseung's lips that night.
The way he leaned towards him looking for a trace of her, and the betrayal that had left a scar on his heart.
"I don't know, Heeseung," he finally said, his voice soft but firm. "I can't promise you that I will believe you, that day you made it clear that you are very good at lying."
Heeseung looked at Ethan with a mix of nervousness, fear, and determination. "We can go to a quieter room to talk better, the music is too loud," he suggested, his voice barely audible.
[...] nodded, although something inside him was hesitant. However, his curiosity and the need to close that chapter prompted him to follow Heeseung up the stairs to the second floor of the house. They passed through a narrow hallway before stopping in front of a half-open door. Heeseung gently pushed it away, revealing a small but cozy room.
Inside, the party music was just a distant murmur, providing a much more intimate setting for the conversation to come. Heeseung closed the door behind them and turned to [...], his expression a reflection of the internal struggle he felt.
"Hee, why are we really here?" [...] asked, crossing his arms in a defensive gesture. "Why did you want to talk now?"
Heeseung took a deep breath, his eyes meeting [...]'s with an intensity that made him shudder. "I needed to explain to you, [...]. I needed to tell you why I kissed you that time, and why it meant so much to me... It still sounds like a lie."
[...] kept his gaze fixed on Heeseung, his heart pounding. "Then speak," he said, his voice shaky but firm.
Heeseung took a step forward, the closeness between them increasing the tension in the air. "The first time I kissed you, yes, I did it thinking about Chloe. But the instant our lips touched, I knew there was something more. The way you kissed me, [...], was unlike anything I'd ever felt before. More real, more authentic."
[...] watched him, his expression cautious as he processed each word. "And Chloe?" he asked, remembering the pain of hearing the ex-girlfriend's name.
"Chloe was important to me, but I realized that I was clinging to an idealized image of what we had, of something that will never happen again," Heeseung confessed. "When I kissed you, I realized that what I really wanted was to be with you, [...]. It took me a while to admit it, but in the end, it was you I wanted in the first place."
As Heeseung spoke, he slowly approached [...], his hands rising to rest gently on [...]'s waist. The boy's eyes shone with a mixture of surprise and suppressed excitement, but also with a lingering fear of being hurt again.
In the hallway, just outside the room, Jake stood listening to the conversation, his heart heavy with the mix of emotions that overwhelmed him. He had followed [...] and Heeseung out of an impulse that he couldn't ignore, and now, the words he heard left him on the verge of despair.
Watching Heeseung approach [...], touching him with a familiarity that Jake wanted for himself, was like a stab. Jealousy burned inside him, mixed with deep sadness.
He knew that his love for [...] was stronger than he had admitted, and seeing Heeseung about to kiss [...] again was a painful reminder of his own position, of his cowardice for wanting to wait for "the right moment" to be honest with him.
Jake couldn't take it anymore. When he saw Heeseung lean in to kiss [...], he stepped back, feeling the world around you crumble. He couldn't stand there, watching a moment he wanted more than anything unfold.
As he walked down the stairs, the music and laughter of the party seemed dull compared to the tumult in his chest. Before leaving the house, Minjeong stopped him, grabbing his wrist, noticing his disturbed expression.
"Jake, are you leaving already? It hasn't been long since you and [...] arrived..." Minjeong said, her tone worried.
Jake forced a smile, trying to hide his true feelings. "Yes... I think it's better for me to go. I think a punch made me sick and I feel like vomiting."
Minjeong looked at him with understanding, although without knowing the real reason behind his leaving, Jake wasn't the best at lying. "Well, if you need anything, don't hesitate to call me, okay? I was glad to see you here."
"Thanks, Min," Jake replied, before quickly walking out the front door.
The walk back to [...]'s bedroom was a blur for Jake. Each step seemed heavier than the last, and his mind was a whirlwind of emotions. Upon reaching the bedroom, he had unconsciously fallen into [...]'s bed, the place that offered him a small comfort in the midst of his anguish.
Tears began to fall as he buried his face in [...]'s pillow, allowing the sadness and frustration to release. It was a bitter comfort, knowing that his feelings for [...] were real but not reciprocated in the way he wanted.
Despite everything, Jake hoped that [...] would come back, that he would see what he really meant to him. With that thought, he fell asleep through tears, longing for a future where their love was not a secret, but a shared reality.
On the other hand.
In the room, the air was thick with tension and expectation. Heeseung and [...] were alone, with only the soft hum of the party in the background. The closeness between them seemed to intensify every small gesture, every look.
Heeseung approached slowly, his eyes locked on [...]'s. There was a vulnerability in his expression that the boy had not seen before, as if all the barriers Heeseung had built had vanished in that moment.
"[...]," Heeseung whispered, his voice filled with emotion and regret. "I'm really sorry for everything I put you through."
[...], still feeling the weight of Heeseung's words, found himself torn between the pain of the past and the possibility of a new beginning. His emotions were a whirlwind, but there was a part of him that wanted to let go of the pain and find something real with Heeseung.
Heeseung raised a hand, gently placing his fingers on [...]'s cheek, tracing a tender path along his skin. [...] didn't pull back, instead he closed his eyes for a moment, allowing himself to feel the warmth of Heeseung's touch.
"I've missed you, prince," Heeseung confessed, his words barely a whisper as he leaned forward, almost brushing his lips against each other's.
[...] opened his eyes, finding Heeseung's just inches away. Time seemed to stop as they both immersed themselves in the moment. With silent decision, [...] closed the distance between them, his lips meeting Heeseung's in a slow, gentle kiss.
The kiss was a delicate touch at first, a cautious, fearful exploration. But the built-up tension and unexpressed feelings quickly transformed it into something deeper and more urgent. Heeseung's lips moved against [...]'s with a fervent intensity, as if they were trying to convey everything that words couldn't express.
[...] responded in kind, his hands finding their way to Heeseung's hair, pulling gently, allowing himself to fall into the intimacy of the moment. It was as if every touch, every whisper between them undid the pain of the past, replacing it with something warm and new, something pure.
Heeseung wrapped his arms around [...], pulling him closer, as if afraid the moment would fade. The heat of their bodies melted into a palpable connection, and with each shared kiss, the barrier between them crumbled a little more.
[...] found himself backing away, his legs finding the edge of the bed. They sat, their lips still joined, gently exploring each other's every curve and corner. Heeseung let his hands wander, tracing a path down [...]'s back, exploring the familiarity of the body he had missed so much.
The outside world faded away, leaving only the soft intimacy between them. Heeseung, feeling the weight of the moment, paused, pulling away just enough to look [...] in the eyes.
"Are you sure of this?" Heeseung asked, his voice soft but serious. There was a sincere desire to make sure this was what they both wanted.
[...], breathing slightly hard, nodded, his eyes shining with a mix of determination and longing. "Yes, I'm sure, with you I will always be willing to do anything."
With that permission, Heeseung continued, leaning in to kiss him again, but this time with a tenderness that said more than any passionate statement. His hands moved carefully, gently guiding them to a more comfortable position on the bed.
Clothes were set aside with deliberate care, as if each piece removed was one step closer to the truth of who they were to each other. Their bodies met, skin against skin, sharing warmth and silent promises.
The atmosphere was filled with a mixture of longing and nervousness. While their lips remained united in a deep kiss, [...] felt the outside world fade away, leaving them alone in their little shared universe. A bubble.
Heeseung, with an almost reverent tenderness, began to let his lips wander past [...]'s mouth. With each kiss, he traced a slow, passionate path along his jawline and down to his neck. [...] let out a soft sigh, his eyes closing as he surrendered to the new caresses and sensations that Heeseung caused him.
Heeseung's kisses were like delicate flames, lighting up every part of [...]'s body they touched. They ran down his neck, leaving a trail of heat that made [...] shiver. When Heeseung's lips reached his collarbone, [...] let out a small moan, surprised by the intensity of the desire he felt.
Heeseung smiled against his boy's skin, enjoying the power of each touch. "I want you so bad, baby," he whispered, his voice hoarse and charged with emotion. There was a fervor in his words that left the other boy breathless.
[...] opened his eyes, meeting the burning gaze of Heeseung, who was watching him with a mix of adoration and desire. "Me too," [...] replied, his voice barely above a murmur as his heart pounded in his chest.
Carefully, Heeseung continued to explore [...]'s body, his lips leaving a trail of kisses down his chest and stomach. Each touch was a reminder of the deep connection they shared, of how much they had both longed for this moment.
[...] found himself panting, his back arching as the caresses intensified, his breathing quickening as Heeseung continued his stroke. It was a mix of desire and vulnerability, knowing that he was giving up a part of himself that he had never shared with anyone.
When their lips finally met again, it was as if the world had disappeared, leaving only the warmth and passion they shared. [...]'s moans mixed with Heeseung's, creating a soft symphony that filled the room.
As the passion between them grew, [...] allowed himself to get lost in the moment, letting go of all doubts and fears. With each touch, he felt the pain of the past fade away, replaced by a deep, authentic connection.
Heeseung, feeling the boy's complete surrender, hugged him tightly, their bodies fitting perfectly as if they had been made for each other. "You're so... fuck, tight. You're all I need," Heeseung murmured against [...]'s lips, his voice full of sincerity.
[...] looked into his eyes, seeing in them a truth that filled him with hope. "And you are everything I've ever wanted," he replied, allowing their lips to meet once more in a kiss that was both sweet and passionate.
As the night wore on, they gave themselves completely to each other, their bodies and hearts intertwined in an intimate dance that was both a discovery and a reaffirmation of what they truly meant to each other. It was a moment of purity and connection, where passion and love were in perfect harmony.
Thus... in the refuge of that room, Ethan and Heeseung found a new beginning, a place where his fears and doubts faded away, leaving only the promise of what could be.
 ̄ ̄ ̄ ̄ ̄ ̄ ̄ ̄ ̄ ̄ ̄ ̄ ̄ ̄ ̄ ̄ ̄ ̄ ̄ ̄ ̄ ̄ ̄ ̄ ̄ ̄ ̄ ̄ ̄
The next morning.
Heeseung woke up early, the morning light softly illuminating the room. There was a serenity in the air, a calm respite after the storm of emotions that had occurred the night before. Beside him, [...] was sleeping soundly, face down, with the sheet barely covering his hips. Heeseung smiled as he looked at [...]'s relaxed figure, admiring the curve of his back and the softness of his skin.
Carefully, Heeseung let his fingers roam over [...]'s bare torso, slowly tracing the contours of his skin, remembering how that same skin had felt under his hands the night before. There was a peace in the gesture, a tranquility that made him feel complete, like everything was finally in its place.
[...] began to wake up, his senses taking in Heeseung's gentle caresses. A lazy smile appeared on his lips as he kept his eyes closed, enjoying the warmth and affection emanating from his lover's fingers. He stretched slightly, his muscles relaxing, preparing to turn and meet Heeseung's face.
But just as he was about to do so, a voice interrupted the stillness of the morning. It was Heeseung's voice, speaking in a low tone to someone on the phone. [...]'s curiosity was piqued, and he decided to stay in his position, pretending to be still asleep while listening to the conversation.
"Chloe, you know how much I miss you," Heeseung said, his voice thick with emotion and nostalgia. "You don't know how much I wish things were different."
Heeseung's words fell on [...] like an icy wave. His body, which minutes before had felt warm and relaxed, began to tremble, first with surprise, then with rage. He felt his heart constrict, each word piercing his skin like swords of boiling silver stabbing into his back.
"I went to the party last night expecting to see you... but instead I got a big surprise" Heeseung continued, not realizing the damage he was causing. "I still think about you all the time, you just drive me crazy."
The feeling of betrayal washed over [...], and the pain was so intense he could barely breathe. The night before, the surrender, the vulnerability he'd shared with Heeseung, it all felt like a monumental mistake.
He regretted having slept with him, feeling exposed and cheated. Every word that came out of Heeseung's mouth hit him hard, filling him with a bitterness he had never experienced before.
Tears began to fill his eyes, blurring his vision as he struggled to maintain control and silence. He felt small and dirty, as if everything he had meant to Heeseung the night before was nothing more than a cruel illusion, again he felt like an object, a sexual one. The love he thought he had shared had turned into bitter mockery, and the pain he felt now was indescribable.
[...] could imagine Heeseung's face, smiling into the phone while he was probably looking for a way to hide him. That girl's voice, her laugh, everything about her caused you rejection. Why she? Why couldn't he stop last night? Was there such a need to get excited again?
Finally, he heard the click of the phone being hung up and felt Heeseung roll over in bed, facing away from him. That was his moment. Heartbroken and his emotions overflowing, [...] carefully stood up, trying not to make a sound as he quickly dressed. Every movement was an effort, as if his body was resisting accepting the truth.
He managed to leave the room without being noticed, his hurried steps taking him away from the source of his pain. He ran, not stopping until he reached the safety of his own bedroom.
When he walked in, the first thing he saw was Jake, who was asleep in his bed. But the sound of the door closing woke him up, Jake quickly sat up, his expression changing as he saw the anguish on [...]'s face.
"[...]," Jake said, his voice filled with concern as he stood up to go over to him.
Ethan couldn't take it anymore. He collapsed to the ground, tears flowing uncontrollably as he sobbed with a despair that shook him completely. Jake rushed to his side, kneeling to hug him tightly.
"What happened, my sun?" Jake whispered, wrapping [...] in a warm, protective hug. His lips rested on [...]'s head in a gesture of comfort, gently kissing that area.
[...] clung to Jake, hiding in the shelter of his neck as the tears continued to fall. He felt like his heart was breaking into a thousand pieces, each one a reminder of the unrequited love he had given to Heeseung. The pain was so intense that it seemed like a physical force, a tightness in his chest that left him breathless.
"I loved him more than anything in the world," [...] said between sobs, his voice shaking with pain and rage. "Why did he have to do this to me?" he shouted between cries.
Jake held him tighter, his own emotions stirring at seeing [...] so broken. "I don't know, [...]. I don't know," Jake replied, his voice soft but firm as he tried to offer him much-needed comfort.
[...] sobbed in Jake's arms, his body shaking with each ragged breath. Jake held him firmly, gently stroking his back, trying to calm him down. Time seemed to stand still while [...] vented, but Jake knew they needed to talk about what had happened.
When [...]'s sobs began to subside, Jake pulled back slightly, just enough so he could look him in the eyes. [...]'s were reddened and filled with a sadness so deep it broke his heart.
"[...]," Jake said softly, choosing his words carefully, "what exactly happened?"
[...] inhaled deeply, trying to put the words together as he felt his chest tighten again at the memory. "Last night," he began, his voice shaking a little, "Heeseung and I…we were together. I was so stupid. I thought there was something more, that he really cared about me."
[...]'s words were an echo of his most painful thoughts, and as he spoke, he felt exposed and vulnerable. It was as if every word he said opened an even deeper wound.
Jake felt a pang in his chest as he heard the confession. His heart sank as he imagined [...] and Heeseung together, beyond a relationship or a kiss, together, in bed, sharing sighs and promises. The image filling his mind with a mixture of sadness, jealousy and anger. How could someone be stupid enough to hurt him.
Although he had witnessed their connection at the party, hearing it from [...] was an unexpected blow, a reminder that her own feelings for Ethan were, for now, an unrequited love.
Despite the sadness that washed over him, Jake knew that his pain wasn't what mattered right now. It was [...] who needed comfort, who needed to feel loved and supported. So he suppressed his own feelings and focused on [...], on being the friend he had always been...
"Hey," Jake said, his voice soft and comforting as he placed a hand on [...]'s cheek, wiping away a tear that was still glistening. "You're not stupid. You went with what you felt, and that's brave, not stupid."
[...] looked at Jake, his eyes reflecting a mix of gratitude and pain. "But I was wrong about him, Jake. He used me…he's still in love with Chloe."
Jake nodded, understanding the weight of betrayal [...] felt. "So? Heeseung just doesn't know how to appreciate what's in front of him," Jake said firmly. "But don't let his mistake make you feel less. You are an amazing person, [...]. You deserve someone who values you completely, you deserve to be loved."
Jake continued to caress his arm, his fingers moving in small comforting circles. "I know this hurts now, and it probably will for a while. But I'll be here, by your side, no matter what happens."
[...] nodded slowly, absorbing Jake's words, allowing himself to feel a small relief at his loyalty and unwavering affection. "Thank you, Jakey. I don't know what I would do without you," he murmured, his voice thick with gratitude.
Jake smiled, trying to instill some hope in [...]. "You don't have to worry about that, because I'm not going anywhere. I'm here, I'll always be there for you, my moon."
Ethan leaned into Jake, allowing himself to rest in his embrace, finding comfort in the certainty of his friendship... yeah. He felt that even though his heart was broken, there was a light in the darkness, a hand that held him when he needed it most.
As the sun moved across the sky, filling the room with its warm light, Jake and [...] stood there, side by side. [...]'s wounds would take time to heal, but with Jake by his side, he knew he would find the strength to keep going, one day at a time.

CHAPTER FIVE -> BAD BITCH ENERGY (partially written! wc:722)
"Actually, I can't do this!" You exclaim, anxiety gnawing at your lungs as you get closer to your home.
"Yes, you can." Minho drives on, not sparing a glance in your direction.
Sooner than you hoped, you're there, staring at the pale yellow door through the passenger side window of Minho's car. The house looks no different than when you left, only you can see your flowers drooping slightly in the window. Although you'd only been gone less than a week, it felt like a million years. This place was no longer your home; you didn't know if you had one anymore.
"Just- can we stay parked here for a second?" You try to squash the tight feeling in your throat, constricting your words to a whisper. "I'm not ready."
"No offence, but I don't really wanna waste my gas sitting here all day-"
"Yeah, and that thing I left for you was actually kind of important-" Beomgyu chips in.
"I basically stood someone up for you, so you better not chicken out-" Han gives you a pointed look.
They all stare at you and you have to look away, hide the tears welling in your eyes. You're going to disappoint them if you don't go, just like you disappointed Seonghwa, just like you always do. You never should have asked them, never should have burdened them with this-
"Hey." Minho shifts his body to face you better and you glance over, eyes falling to your hands. "How about we come with you? Would that make it better? Easier?"
You look up at his question, tears now threatening to spill over. "Yes, please."
"Shit, she's gonna cry again!" Beomgyu laughed uncomfortably. "Y/n, c'mon, it'll be okay, don't worry! You've got us. Now, wipe your eyes and let's go. Can't have your ex seeing you this distraught over him, can we?"
"Bad bitch energy," you say in a broken voice, words NingNing has tried to engrave into your very brain over the years.
"Bad bi-" Han waves a hand in the air. "Yeah, sure, whatever you say."
You wipe your eyes, trying to muster every bit of strength you have to see him, placing a hand on the door handle. A wave of fear washes over you again when you start to push it open, the boys following suit.
But then you slam it shut.
Han groans loudly and sits back down, Beomgyu and Minho doing the same.
"What happened?" Han asks, exasperated. "Where's the bad bitch energy or whatever?"
"I'm sorry!" You can't look at them. "I'm sorry. I can't-"
"Enough with the 'I cant's' because yes, you can." Minho turns his whole body to you again, grabbing your chin with two fingers, and making you look at him. "He broke your heart. He hurt you. So, yes, you can go in there, reclaim your things, and never have to see him again. There's no reason for you to even think about him after this." He can tell you're not fully convinced. "How did it feel to see him with the other woman?"
"It felt like my heart shattered into a million pieces," you say. Minho opens his mouth, but you continue on. "Then he took those pieces, ground them up into a fine powder, and scattered them to the edges of the Earth where I'll never find them again. It felt like the ultimate betrayal because I knew I gave him everything and trusted him, but he clearly didn't do the same. Or even close."
You sit up straighter, squaring your shoulders.
"Yes, there, that's it." Minho smirks, eyes widening ever so slightly.
"And the way he thought I'd be the one cheating?" You're anger flares, skin heating up. "As if I didn't tell him how much I loved him daily? As if I wouldn't be too busy working on something that I was proud of that he didn't even let me talk about because, 'oh, honey, we both know your career isn't going any further'."
Anger leads you out of the car and to the front door before you can register your feet moving, pounding a fist on the door when the spare key is nowhere to be found, mumbling every wrongdoing he's committed.
You are furious.
And your hand moves on its own when Seonghwa opens the door.

The Peace Treat-y (Comes with Sprinkles)
Tumblr media
Based on this prompt by @novelbear :
A and B are always taking eachothers snack/lunch in the teachers lounge to piss the other off. But on A's birthday, instead of finding a missing lunch, they find a small cupcake with a note...
A/N: I didn’t follow the prompt exactly to the T but nevertheless it’s the same concept with minor changes.
I also might turn this into a mini series? Nothing’s set in stone, but they’re idiots in love and their story must be told (I’m obsessed with them and all the ideas I have knocking around in my head for future parts/blurbs).
masterlist
“Good morning,” you say, offering Peter a smile almost as warm as the coffee in your mug as you pass each other in the hallway between your classrooms, finding it a bit odd when he neither returns nor acknowledges your greeting.
You didn’t think much of it, chalking it up to it just being one of those mornings and focusing on using the fifteen minutes you had to prep for today’s lesson before the students from your first period started trickling in. That is until Peter appears in your doorway, a frustrated expression on his face, “You know I didn’t mind you using my coffee creamer before but using the last of it and leaving the empty bottle in the fridge is a sucky move.”
His accusation perplexed you, “I haven’t been using your coffee creamer.”
“Well, someone has been and if I had to point a finger, it would be at the person who’s as sweet as vinegar without a cup of coffee in the morning.”
“What a lovely way to describe yourself,” you deadpan, as you wipe away yesterday’s date, “But seriously, I haven’t been using your creamer…you get french vanilla, I use the caramel one.”
He squints his eyes at you, “I don’t believe you.”
“You don’t have to, it's the truth…now be a doll and hand me the purple marker.” You say, stretching your hand out to him.
He huffs and reluctantly does as you ask, “I dunno, there was something rather mischievous about your smile this morning...I might have to get you back for this, L/n.”
“I’m gonna call your bluff on that.”
The corner of his mouth twitches up into a smirk as he speaks, “Oh, but I’m not bluffing, sweetheart.”
“Don’t start a war you can win, Parker.” You advise as he turns and walks across the hall to his room. “I don’t plan on losing,” he calls from out over his shoulder.
“I can’t believe he did that!!” You say, holding the door of the teacher’s lounge open for MJ to walk in with one hand, and waving to Johnny sitting at one of the tables with Peter, his back turned to you, with the other. “Who are you guys talking about?” He questions.
“Jesse Newman,” MJ answers, taking a seat beside him.
Johnny sits up at the mention of the student’s name, “I didn't know you had him, he’s been misbehaving in your class too?”
“More than misbehaving, he destroyed a bunch of art supplies today.”
“Yikes! You called his house?” Peter asks.
“No, his guidance counselor probably will though, he’s been disruptive since school started, I’ve talked to him one one-on-one and then his mom when that didn’t work but she just snapped at me for wasting her time and told me that if I was a good teacher I’d be able to handle it. So now it’s Miller’s problem.”
“It’s insane when you realize who his older brothers are,” you chime in, opening the cabinet in search of the pack of cookies you stashed in there.
You see MJ furrow her brows out your periphery, “Wait, who are his brothers?”
“The twins,” you state, “They’re in my honors class this year, total saints…hey, have you guys seen my–” you stop speaking when you look towards the table and catch a glimpse of the yellow and brown packaging in Peter’s lap, “You stole my fudge stripes!”
“What? No, I didn’t.”
You stare at him blankly before moving closer to the table, gesturing towards the sticky note with your name on it attached to the bag, “A thief and a liar…how do you sleep at night?”
He bites back a smile, “Usually on my side, sometimes on my back but–” Johnny stifles a laugh, amused at the scene unfolding before him.
“Peter,” There was a sternness to your voice as you cut him off.
He shrugs, “I told you I was going to get you back, I don’t know why you’re so surprised.”
“I didn’t think you were serious!”
“Well, whose fault is that?”
Your lips fall into a frown, “Yours! I get why you’d be ticked off, no one likes their things getting taken or used without their permission, but suffering an injustice doesn’t make it okay to commit one. Especially after I literally told you I didn’t use the last of your coffee creamer.”
Peter opens his mouth to speak but freezes under the watch of your glaring eyes, “You’ve made an enemy out of me today, Parker.”
You clear your throat and shift your gaze to MJ and Johnny, “I’m gonna run to the corner store, you two want anything?” You wait for their response, only nodding your head and moving towards the door after they both reply with a no, not even bothering to spare Peter a glance.
“I’m so glad I’m not Peter right now,” Johnny whispers to MJ.
“Me too,” she whispers back as the door shuts.
“I didn’t mean to make her that upset,” Peter confesses.
“Seems like you did though, you literally just said you wanted to get her back,” Johnny says
“I know but it was supposed to be in a playful– dickish way like normal.”
“Well you were certainly dickish, but I do think her reaction would have been different if she didn’t forget her lunch this morning and now she’s leaving to buy something which she was trying to avoid ‘cause she wanted to use her lunch to grade assignments. Those cookies were supposed to get her through the rest of the day,” MJ tells him.
“Oh,” Peter frowns, “I didn’t know, I wouldn’t have– do you think she left already? I could run to the store for her so she can stay.”
A look that Peter can't quite read is exchanged between MJ and Johnny, “Maybe you should just leave her alone for right now,” Johnny suggests.
MJ nods her head in agreement.
Peter didn’t see you after lunch, not when the door to your classroom was closed for the remainder of the day, only opening for the influx of students entering at the beginning of each period and then again when they were leaving.
The thought of knocking crosses his mind but with no olive branch to extend, the possibility of interrupting your class as you taught, and the words of his friends replaying through his head, he decides against it.
It wasn’t until an hour after dismissal that Peter would see you again.
“You and those goddamn pen clicks,” Your voice pulls his attention anyway from the papers on his desk and over to you standing just outside his door. “You heading out?” He asked, standing up from his chair.
“Yeah, I saw you working and figured I’d say goodbye before I left.”
Peter nods and starts to pack up his things, “I was also about to leave…if you give me a second we could walk to the subway together.”
You shake your head, seeing right through him, “Are you even done with your work? You don’t have to stop just cause I’m leaving.”
“No, I’m done. Lemme lock up and we can go,” he tells you as he slips his arms through the straps of his backpack.
You step aside as he approaches you, “How come you’re here so late? You never stay later than you need to,” you ask him.
“Neither do you. So how come you’re here so late?” He replied, using his key to lock the door from the outside.
“Answering my question by asking the same question is a bit childish, don't you think?”
“Maybe but not answering my question about your question about you doing the same thing is a bit unfair isn't it?” He says, motioning his head to the side for you to follow him as he starts to walk down the hall towards the staircase.
Despite the look of fatigue on your face, the ends of your mouth upturn at him as begin to trail two paces behind him, “Seems pretty fair to me.”
Silence fills the air as you two walk down the stairs to the first floor and leave out the main entrance. You could feel Peter’s eyes continuously scan your face as the two of you strolled down the block.
“You know you didn’t have to wait for me right?” You say to him as you near the entrance of the subway.
He stuffs his hands in his pockets and looks down at his shoes, “We’ve walked to the train stop together since last year…I didn’t want that to change after I upset you early, which I’m sorry for. MJ told me about you forgetting your lunch and I swear if I knew I wouldn’t—”
“Don’t worry about it.”
He tilts his head at you, “I’m forgiven just like that?”
You take a few steps down before turning back to look at him, “I never said anything about forgiveness, I said not to worry about it.”
“What does that mean?”
“It means I’ll see you tomorrow,” you tell him before hurrying down the steps and disappearing out of sight.
Peter couldn’t quite wrap his head around your words, refusing to believe it was that simple, you weren’t that simple. He was almost certain there was more to it than you were letting up, he just didn’t know what.
That was until the very next day during his prep period, when he made a quick run down to the teacher’s lounge in a desperate need for a cup of coffee that everything became clear.
He was pouring sugar into his mug when he thought about the mini muffins he bought earlier this morning and how nicely they’d pair with his coffee, but when he opened the cupboard to reach for them they had vanished from their spot, in its place a slip of paper that read, “your move.”
Peter knew exactly what your little note meant, but if he had known that retaliating would create a rift in your friendship he would have just called it even.
It wasn’t like there was any bad blood between the two of you, far from it actually, what started as a slightly negative interaction became a stupid little game for the both of you.
But lately, that’s all your friendship was, the two of you playing a game, and he hated it.
“I don’t know, it’s just different now. Not in a bad way but I just—I just miss her, we barely talk anymore, it feels stupid saying it out loud but I miss how things were before,” Peter says to May as he pushes the shopping cart down the frozen foods aisle.
“Why don’t you just tell her that?” May asks, putting a pint of vanilla ice cream into her own cart.
A sigh escapes his mouth, “It’s just—I don’t want to ruin the fun back and forth thing we have going on.”
“Saying something isn’t going to ruin whatever it is you two have going on, it’ll probably make things better since you clearly have a crush on her.”
“Crush? Who said anything about having a crush?” He asks, taken back by what she just said.
“You’re kidding, right? You literally just told me you miss her, you miss someone you see basically every day. Who the hell says that about someone who's just a coworker?”
“Plenty of people—” he starts but May quickly cuts him off, “You bring her up at least twice whenever we talk, the first thing you did when we got here is head straight for the snack aisle to get those cookies she likes, something you’ve done for the past two grocery store trips might I add.”
“I see what you’re saying but—”
“You keep all the little notes she leaves you,” she adds, shutting Peter up.
She stares at him as he breathes in deeply and exhales, “Okay so maybe I do have a crush on her but there’s no way I can tell her that, it’s not professional.”
“And having a snack war is?”
“Well—”
“Well, nothing. Man up and tell her how you feel, about the snack thing at least.”
Your eyebrows knitted together as you caught a glimpse of Peter in his lab coat darting across the hall from your room back to his.
You could practically feel the confusion coursing through your body as you neared your classroom, raking your brain for any idea of what he could possibly be up to but ultimately coming up with nothing.
“Whatcha doing?” you ask, entering his room and approaching him at his desk, closely examining him for anything remotely suspicious about his behavior.
“Oh hey! Nothing–I’m doing nothing, how was your coverage?” You took notice of how rushed his words were, how he was more fidgety than usual.
“You're acting weird,” you state, completely ignoring his question, “I saw you come out of my room, what’d you do?”
“Nothing, I did nothing.”
“Okay, Peter,” you say, squinting your eyes at him before leaving the room and entering yours.
Your eyes scanned the room, on high alert for anything out of place, but when everything looked seemingly untouched a crease formed between your eyebrows.
You glance back to Peter, who quickly turns his head in the other direction pretending to have not been staring at you.
Regardless of how normal everything looked, you ventured further into your classroom with hesitation, continuing to survey the room as you did so until your eyes finally landed on the small cardboard box sitting on your desk.
A smile spreads across your face as you peer through the little window of the box at the singular cupcake it held and the white toothpick flag that stuck out the top of it, and your smile only grows when you read the sticky note stuck to the side of the box: ‘Cupcake of the Day: The Peace Treat-y (Comes with Sprinkles).’

୨ PINKY PROMISE ୧
Summary: Y/n finally confronts her abusive dad, leading to a massive argument, where she leaves the house.
Warnings: Angst, daddy issues, violence, cussing.
Notes: English is not my first language, so I’m sorry about any mistake!
୨୧
Im on the living room couch since my dad left the house. My eyes blink slowly, struggling to stay open. I see on my phone, 2AM. The big yellow light only makes me drowsier at each second that goes by. As soon as my eyes close, I hear the door opening, automatically getting my attention.
I sit up, rubbing my eyes. I watch the old man walking through the living room with a bottle of beer in his hand. The familiar smell of alcohol fills the room. He looks in my direction, his eyes narrowing as they land on me. “What the hell are you doing still up?" He asks with a tone of accusation.
I hesitate before answering, finding the right words. “I.. I was just waiting for you, dad.” I reply. The tension in the room is big.
"Waiting for me? More like waiting to nag me, you little brat." He scoffs as he walks over to the kitchen, opening the fridge and getting another alcoholic drink.
I feel the rage burning inside me, but I push it down, knowing it will only make things worse. “I was worried about you” I say, my voice trembling slightly. “You were gone for hours, and..”
But before I can finish my sentence, he cuts me off with a bit of a laugh. “You are just like your mother, always putting your nose where you are not called” He takes another swig from the bottle. I put my phone in my pocket. I start getting up, maybe going to bed was actually the best idea, but it looks like he still has things to say. “You're the last person who should be worried about me, little bitch.”
All his words just remind me of how much I hate him. Since my mom died, nothing has been the same. He started getting into alcohol, drinking every day. I have bruises from all the times he had ever hit me. I hate when he mentions my mom, like he didn’t even loved her. I turn myself to him. “It’s not my fault you go out to drink like a fucking addicted, just because you can’t stand the idea of mom not being here anymore!” I say. “And I shouldn’t be worried?!”
“You are just like her” He looks at me with disgusted eyes. “Always running your mouth, just like your goddamn mother.” He gets closer, his breath hitting my face. “If she was here, she would be embarrassed of having you as a daughter, just like I am.” He pauses. “You are just a mistake. I wish I had used a condom that night. No one can fucking stand you.”
I shake my head. “That’s not true.” I try to convince myself. Some tears running down my face, I just can’t avoid them. I feel more and more angry.
He simply keeps talking. “And let me tell you,“ He points an accusing finger at me. “That shitty boyfriend of yours? He’s just with you out of pity.”
“You don’t know what you are talking about. You don’t know him, dad.” My breath gets heavier.
“He’s just using you, like everyone around you, piece of shit. You will see, as soon as he finds someone bett-“
Suddenly, before he could finish talking, I push him away from me, making him lose balance, almost getting him on the floor. “Stop! Just shut the fuck up already! Leave me the fuck alone!” I scream, tears blur my vision.
But my father’s rage only seems to intensify. He doesn’t give up. He comes back, his hand connects with my cheek, slapping me across the face, leaving a red mark. For some moments, I froze. “I hate you!” I yell "I hate being here! I hate every moment spent under this roof with you!"
“Ungrateful brat! That’s all you are!” He affirms, louder than me.
“I hate the way you treat me, the way you talk to me, the way you make me feel like I'm worthless! I’m out of here!” I use the same tone as him, but this time sobbing. And with that, I start walking towards the front door, I open it.
“Sure! get the fuck out of my house! And I don’t wanna see your ass back here when you realize the shit you’ve made!” He tells me. I take one last look at him before shutting the door.
I start crying uncontrollably as I walk through the dark streets. I don’t even have where to go, I just wanna get out of this place. The only thing I can think of is Chris. I need him. He’s the only one who will understand me.
The panic just builds up as I walk the fastest I can to his house. Each step that I take doesn’t feel real. How the fuck is this actually happening. After an eternity, I finally reach his house. I ring on the doorbell, nothing. It just makes me cry more and more. I ring again, still nothing. Until I finally see the door opening. His eyes half closed, shirtless only with his pajama pants on. He blinks in confusion.
“Y/n? What’s.. What’s wrong? What are you doing here?” He asks with his husky voice.
“Chris.. Im sorry.. I..” I try to speak but the words catch in my throat, I’m only able to cry. He pulls me into a hug, my head buries on the crook of his neck as I keep breaking down. He holds me tightly, as I cling to him, my tears soaking his bare skin.
He kisses the top of my head a few times “Shh it’s okay..” He whispers. “You don’t gotta say anything right now, I just need you to breathe, love. I’ve got you..” We stay like this for some moments, until I calm down a bit.
He pulls me back from the hug, making me look at him. “Why don’t you come in so we can talk better, huh?” He questions me calmly. Chris leads me to his room, always holding my hand. As we get there, he closes the door behind us.
“Let me get you something more comfortable to wear” He looks on his wardrobe. As soon as he finds it, he hands me an oversized hoodie and some fluffy pajama pants. Once I'm settled into the cozy clothes, my boyfriend guides me to his bed. We lay down, my head on his chest as a pillow. He strokes my hair gently. “I hate seeing you like this.. Do you talk about what happened?”
I sniff. “It’s just.. Everything with my dad..” My voice shakes as I talk. I start tearing up once again. ”We argued again, but this time.. I said I wasn’t coming back there, but I don’t even have anywhere to go..” I go back to crying.
“Listen to me, you do. You have me, you are staying here for how long you need to. I’m sorry I didn’t got you out of that house earlier.” He rubs my back.
I sigh. I look up at him with my watery eyes. “Can I make you a question?” I whisper.
“Yeah, what is it?”
“Do you ever.. Do you ever regret being with me? Do you ever wish you were with someone else?”
Chris's brows furrow with concern as he looks into my tear-filled eyes. “Hey, hey, hey.. Why are you asking me that?”
“I don’t know.. My dad is always telling me how you are going to leave me and.. I.. I don’t know..” I say insecure.
Chris cups my face with his hands. “Y/n listen to me, those are just lies. Im not going to leave you and I don’t regret being with you, I love you.”
“Do you promise me?” He wipes away my tears with his thumb.
He extends his pinky finger towards me. “Wanna make a pinky promise?” His sentence makes me chuckle a bit, like a little kid. Slowly, I reach out and intertwine my pinky finger with his. “I promise that I will always be here for you, Y/n.” He smiles. “Now can you promise me that you will never doubt about it?”
“I promise Chris.” He gives me a soft peck on my lips.

It started when I decided to work down at Heyward’s one summer just as a pair of extra hands. Of course I got made fun of for working over in The Cut considering I lived over in Figure Eight. But I personally didn’t care. I enjoyed helping out where I could, whenever I could. To say I had become friends with the Pogues is an understatement. They were like a family to me. John B, JJ, Pope and Kiara. Sure they were all standoffish for a little bit but they eventually came around, especially John B. The poor boy would get so flustered when talking to me, so it was pretty easy to tell that he had a crush on me. The rest of the group always give him knowing glances when he starts to stammer over himself, always causing me to laugh softly which made it so much worse for the poor boy.
I was lucky that Mr. Heyward had let me go earlier than what he said he would. Planning on surprising the group earlier than what I had said I was going to be. I happily finished what I had to do before saying goodbye to everyone as I practically ran out the door, unlocking my light yellow cruiser bike from the little fence out front. I let out a content sigh as I climbed onto the bike, pushing softly against the pavement to give me a boost before I started pedaling to John B’s house. Taking in the nice breeze as I slowly make my way there.
After a few minutes I had ridden down his driveway, carefully putting my bike up against the house. Silently making my way up to the patio, careful to make sure the screen door didn’t slam shut. Not wanting them to be aware of my presence just yet. A smile on my face as I can see the front door cracked open and faint conversation coming from the living room. I crept quickly towards the door, slightly peaking in trying to listen for a moment.
“Yeah so JB, what’s your deal?” JJ questioned as he took a sip from his beer can, “Do you actually like (Y/N) or something?” he raised an eyebrow at John B. My face instantly heated up at the mention of my name as John B just let out a breath of air. His hand running his fingers through his dark blond curls as he shakes his head. The other three immediately raise their eyebrows at him as I just stand there with a baited breath, hoping that he would return my feelings.
“What’s that supposed to mean?” Kiara asked, voice laced with confusion as she looked at John B, JJ and Pope chiming in with small ‘yeah’s to Kiara’s question.
“It’s just that she’s a Kook ya know?” John B scoffed out, “Like I’d ever date a Kook, come on now.” he shook his head softly. The others exchange looks as they looked back to John B.
“But Kie is a kook? You had a crush on her at one point.” Pope pointed out in disbelief. I bit my lip softly as I continued to listen trying to fight back the tears in my eyes.
“Yeah well..” John B started before taking a sip of his beer, “..Kie is also much more attractive than what (Y/N) is. If you all must know I am actually crushing on Sarah Cameron at the moment.” he stated matter of factly. I let out a soft gasp as I pushed the door open as a tear rolled down my face. All of their heads turned right to the sudden noise of the door opening. JJ, Pope and Kiara looked at me out of pity as John B just stared at me, realizing what I had overheard. Looking slightly guilty as we all stood frozen for a moment. He quickly got up and made his way over towards me.
“Hey..” he said softly as I processed he was coming towards me quickly getting my bearings and making a dash for the screen door of the patio, a small sob escapes my throat as I make down the patio steps.
“Hey, (Y/N)! Wait!” he called out again as he followed me. I quickly grabbed my bike and climbed on to it. Trying to leave before John B is able to stop me. But of course with my luck he stops me. His hand lands on top of my handle bars as he gets close to the side of me.
“Please, don’t run off.” he quietly begged as I looked at him through tear filled eyelashes as I let out another sob.
“Hey..hey..please don’t cry.” he reached his hand out to try to wipe my tears away only to pull away as soon as I rear my head back away from his grasp. He lets out a soft sigh as he puts a little bit of distance between us. “I didn’t mean what I said, I just had to get them to stop pestering me if I liked you or not.” he groaned, “Which I do by the way.” he quickly added as my sniffles stopped for a moment. I continued to stare at him, thinking of what I had wanted to say.
“Yeah well, I mean what I say no matter if I’m around my friends or not.” I scoffed as I glared at him. “And you better believe me when I say I absolutely hate you John B.” I spat out harshly causing John B to raise his eyebrows, lips parted like he’s about to say something but I cut him off.
“Fuck you John Booker Routledge, I hope I never see you again.” I said sternly, venom laced into each word. Watching him shrink into himself before riding off on my bike, leaving him standing there staring at the ground.

thick as blood
sweet as milk
chapter 4 (parts seems juvenile)
a few days have passed and you finally cleaned your home, the bathroom was a lot nicer now and yes to Francis's odd dismay your apartment looked like a green house, today was rainy so you stayed in writing thank you letters to your neighbors.
Francis was at his last stop. he walked up the steps of a very nice new home, one of those buy to build homes he's seen on Sears catalogs (look it up, very cool)
he knocked on the door with his foot as he carried more milk than a normal household would use, the door opened via a very pretty woman in a blue polka dot dress and blue sweater "Francis! you got my call" she opened the door wide as he walked passed her placing the jug crate on the counter "you wouldn't believe how many cakes the school is asking of me" she continued following him in filling up a glass of lemonade "isn't your husband a baker?" he asked nodding as he took the drink from her "he's too held up with catering the convention that rolled in" she answered folding her arms standing across from him "but I did want to spring something up on you...we've known each other for a bit would you say?" she asked almost in a whisper. Francis stopped mid sip nodding slowly thinking of the million things she was about to say "right...you know my daughter Amelia" she walked passed him into the living room, Francis followed even more puzzled "she's 15 now no?" "yes" god why was she being so vague? "sit, please" she pointed to her pristine yellow couch "you see my daughter got a cat and as funny as it is now we're sad to say she's deathly allergic" she awkwardly laughed "you don't know anyone who would want one hm?" he stared blankly at her for a moment mentally cursing her for freaking him out "Joan, I don-...actually I do know someone in the need of a companion" Joan's eyes sparkled a little "great! Johnny bring the cat" she called upstairs and a few moments later a little boy still in his pajamas carried down a small kitten in his arms "milkman! your taking my sisters cat?" he asked running over to him, the poor kitten wiggling around as he did so "yes i am" "but cats are for girrrllss ewww" Johnny laughed passing the poor sleepy thing to him
"I'm giving it to a girl, but no cats are for men too." francis pet it gently "my dad says sooo" the little kid huffed "ok back to your room." Joan pulled his ear on the way back to the hallway going into his room coming back moments later with bags and a litter box "toys, litter, litter box, and food. its still too small for solid foods so, a little baby formula warm water and the kibble should be good" she pointed to each bag explaining how it worked before sitting down on the armchair beside couch. “ so we’re giving it to a girl, not to fit the stereotype, but is this lady in another home you deliver to?”Joan snickered slapping his knee, hoping that Francis will get the joke, Francis kind of did , but like everyone else Joan couldn’t read him “ She’s my door lady. She actually saved the building from an dopple attack a few nights ago.”he told Joan inspecting the small fluff ball “oh wow must be an intimidating woman” Joan said imagining a large gruff woman with a killer stare, if Francis could read her mind he would’ve laughed but he continued “she seems the type to have a pet.” He got up carrying the bags and box on his hip heading for the door “thanks for the gift Mrs. Wilde” Joan got up to open the door for him “Yaknow Francis, in old Viking tradition gifting a cat to a woman is a symbol of courtship” she said raising a brow hoping to fluster the brick wall “…I don’t think she’s of Viking origin” he said back making Joan face palm “but that is interesting, you were a mythology major?” He asked placing the items into his truck wrapping the kitten in a jacket before gently placing it in the passenger side “ I was, but you know how it goes. You think you’re going to live a life of independence and then you get married to a baker.” Joan looked at the horizon saying that. Francis looked at her with a softened gaze before she snapped to reality “sorry, I hope she loves the cat, and I hope the goddess freya doesn’t get any ideas haha” Joan turned around fixing her sweater hearing Francis as she got to her door “…..your still a mythology major.” He turned around getting into the truck driving off. Joan still at the entrance, smiling in acknowledgment.
Back at your apartment, the twins were back gossiping to you about model drama you could barely understand while they randomly asked questions about you, “ oh and Eliza got fatter so now we all have to weigh before booking! Can you believe it?? Let the girl eat a little extra cake at her mom’s funeral!” Selenne laughed sipping her tea “oh speaking of, miss mia wants us to help her with the wedding venue! Everyone in the building is invited. ” Elenois shook you a little clearly excited “I forgot they were fiancées, since they live together anyway” you giggled pouring another cup for everyone “ y/n! You didn’t tell us you were a max traditionalist~” Celine pointed at you, smiling “ of course not it’s just since they live together. My brain just automatically thinks that.” You felt a little embarrassed but the twins were known to make people sweat for fun. “ Miss Mia wants to have it during the summertime so we have a long time to prepare.” Sel sat back looking out the window “ good thing she doesn’t want it during the spring. It’s so rainy here.”
Francis knocked at the door the cat meowing, he knew it was hungry so it was a perfect opportunity to teach y/n how to care for it, you opened the door smiling then looking straight at the dramatic kitten meowing loudly “ you found a cat?” You asked getting on your toes to see it closer making Francis die of cuteness on the inside thinking to himself ‘she really did that almost automatically, how adorable’ mentally slapping himself he lowered his hand passing the kitten to her, y/n didn’t know if the cat was tiny or Francis hands were huge because it really fit in the palm of his hand only it’s a little leg spilling out, grab the sweet thing, putting it to your chest “aww poor baby, I bet your hungry” he spoke softly, almost afraid to burst its ear drums with your normal tone, Francis look down at you now getting the picture.
he was attracted to you.
You were smaller than him which every 1950s man wants from a partner and you look beautiful doing everything mundane like if he took a picture at a random moment, you would look like a model no matter what. As if someone directed you in that exact pose. And you dressed nicely. He Longed to see you in more colorful items, just to see your features shine brighter. He stared at you in his mind lovingly
But you looked back up to see the most stern look with furrowed brows “um…did I say something?” you got nervous stoking the cat for comfort “ the cat is hungry but do not feed it milk. That is a myth.” he spoke plainly opening one of the bags putting the food items on the table “ baby formula, warm water, and a little bit of kibble is good for the cat, what will you name it ?” He asked sounding pretty excited about the name part “ maybe we should feed it first and then think of a name” you said leading him into the kitchen with the supplies “hiii francy” the twins waved as he did back before they giggled to themselves “he was absolutely fucking her with his eyes “ selenne pushed her sister’s shoulder whisper yelling “ shutup, that’s so not appropriate!” El covered her mouth, both trying their hardest not to laugh too loud.
You and Francis came back from letting the cat eat sitting on the couch, the twins took the cat from you to pet and prod, “it might scratch” Francis pointed “ let them, I heard prodding pets is a good thing because it makes them more tempered” y/n poured him some tea “you had pets before?” He asked thanking her for the tea “we need to hear some y/n lore” Sel nodded “ I didn’t have pets, but my grandparents did, dogs cows, sheep, wasn’t a farm. It was more like a ranch. My parents live in the city like this one and they never really liked animals” you said studying your tea leaves “ Where is your family?” El asked rubbing the kittens belly “ across the country, I have a cousin who lives here. They are really busy.” You looked out the window at the rain. You didn’t want to tell them the whole truth. “We can understand, it seems everyone in this building has busy lives, aside from the housewives” Francis said ”your right” you nodded “oh have you heard about the wedding?” El asked Francis “no, wedding? You two are getting married?” He asked a little frantic “no no we’re not throwing out our careers yet. Mia’s and Dr. aftons wedding!” Selenne rolled her eyes “oh, yes the doctor asked me to be in the grooms party, I think his bachelor party will be at the bowling alley” "yeah sounds like Dr. afton" Sel sighed "mia still doesnt know what she wants, but she does wanna vote so we all have fun!" El smiled surveying the room, francis was staring at his tea cup but you were in the conversation completely "anyway we forgot we have a alot of calls to make love ya bye" she placed the kitten in your hands before pulling her sister out of the apartment "lets give the love birds forced time alone" she whispered to her twin closing the door behind them
"odd" francis glanced at the door
"yeah, hope everythings ok" you sighed looking down at the cat as he stared at you
“Name?” Francis asked clearing his throat “no idea…I’ll think about it” you placed the kitten on the couch as it played with the tassels on the pillow “well, I’m going to head home, tell me when you name her, I’m excited to know” he said you got up and smiled walking him to the door “of course Francis, thank you for the gift” you blushed opening the door hoping for anything “Yaknow I heard that a man giving their loved one a cat is a proposal in Norse mythology” he said grabbing your hand and kissing it “but neither of us are of Viking blood I don’t think ” (sorry if you are) he walked to his door and you stared holding your hand kissing it softly to feel his lips in spirit
A few weeks had passed and you were on a late shift again. The cat followed you around the building so in turn she now had a bed in the office, it 9pm and you had to wait for 5 of the residents to come home late from a press party
Natasha was in the office playing with the cat “do you have a name for her yet?” She asked making it chase a mouse on a string “no…suggestions?” You pulled out a list of names residents have considered passing it to the little girl “hm..” she wrote a few names even her own “…no Natasha” you said crossing out hers, she shrugged and went back to the cat, time passed and you got a little worried turning on the radio, the twins giving you which channel had the convention/press party coverage. You listened in, and rolled your eyes at the sounds of officials and other higher ups giving empty speeches, a knock at the door made you jump looking up to see natcha with her arms folded staring at her daughter “so. This is what you do at bedtime now? I thought I had more time before you started sneaking out” she held her temple sighing you got up feeling guilty for not even asking Natasha if she even asked her mom to be with you “I’m sorry I just assumed since it’s Friday um, I should have called you ma’am” you looked down seeing natcha look back at you with the ‘mom look’ “no don’t apologize, I should have checked on her earlier but I was busy cleaning, Natasha. Room. Now. And I’m taking your record player tomorrow” she said it so calmly, no yelling just a sweet calm yet stern tone “aww mom!! I’m gonna be bored all day!” Natasha folded her arms pouting “ too bad so sad. Up.” She pointed out the door and Natasha walked still pouting “so sorry you had to see punish my child y/n” natcha said fixing her house coat “no no don’t worry about, I just wish my parents were as calm as you are” you smiled seeing another resident walk over, Francis looked over “something happen?” He asked standing near natcha at the doorway, you could see her side step to not touch him. Her face contorting slightly but fixing itself “Natasha sneaked out to play with the cat n the doorman” she said side eyeing him “nat? Sneaking out? She’s 11” he said just kind of knowing? You felt your stomach drop a bit…hoping they couldn’t tell “she’s 12 in a week.” Natcha stated before walking off “goodnight everyone.” She went back to her sweet tone, there it was. The way he turned to look at her, it shot you in the heart a bit “your still working?” He asked walking in, the cat rubbing against him purring “a few of the residents are still not here, neither is the night shift” you looked away from him with a sour look on your face, you felt so stupid. You two were not a thing and also haven’t even kissed yet and here you are assuming a broken family and getting jealous of a woman who’s only ever shown you kindness not to mention fed you. Francis could tell you were reeling from something but didn’t know how to approach “…I can make you a coffee, I got donuts from a friend today” he walked over placing his hand on your arm “you look tired” his warm hand and gravily voice from just waking up made you feel better yet worse, “your one to talk” you smiled trying to let go “so mean” he let go “ I’ll be back” he walked off, you watching the way he moved Lowkey checking the sway of his ass but quickly looking away. The cat sat at the desk ‘listening’ to the radio with you as you gave it scritches “what about Lucy? Mimi? Tiger?” You read off the list of names to the feline hoping it would give some type of approval but you were sure if it nodded you would scream. Francis came back placing a coffee and a muffin and donut “pick” he said pointing, you grabbed his hand pointing it to the chocolate muffin “ I don’t want to be up all night via sugar and coffee” you smiled taking a bit “thank you” you covered your mouth he hummed taking the donut kissing your head before walking out. God you want to fly and throw yourself out a window at the same time, two people walked in, the pilots. Both disfigured and grotesque slamming the papers against the window making you jump “let us in. Miss door man.” One said somehow with a stitched mouth “eat my ass.” You said back making the younger one angry trying to get to you through the paper hole. Fuck I ran out of spa

Onceler x Reader Fluff
Neutral Pronouns!!
for @arson-n-barf (for some reason your name won’t come up when i try to tag you 😿)
Tumblr media
It finally happened. Your boyfriend, the Onceler, had gotten to the lowest point in his business. His machines had cut down the last truffula tree. His family, seeing how this would bring his business to an end, up and left the second they noticed. It had been about a month since it happened, and Onceler was hidden away in his little factory home, wallowing in his misery as he finally realized what he’d done to the truffula forest. You’d tried to contact him a few times now, but each time you’d open the door a wooden mallet would quickly shoo you away. This time, you wouldn’t accept that. You knew you needed to talk to him, and he needed to talk to you.
Taking a walk from the Onceler’s wagon to his little house was always a bit depressing. What used to be lush landscape full of pink, orange, and yellow shades, was now a desolate wasteland of stumps and smog. It was a long trip by foot, but you didn’t have the resources to get there any faster at the moment. Approaching his home, you knew better than to knock on the door this time. A faint light was shining through a boarded up window, the only light you’d seen in what felt like hours.
That must be where he is…
“Onceler?”
No response. You didn’t expect it to be so easy, but you weren’t going to give up.
“Onceler. I’m not leaving until you let me talk to you! Please just say something. Anything at all?”
“Go away. I don’t know who you are and I don’t care.”
That’s harsh! How does he not know? Can he not recognize my voice?
It then occurred to you that with all the smog you had to breathe in on the way, your voice had become a bit raspier and lower. Not to a disturbing point, but apparently just enough to mask your identity. Just then, peering up at the window, you noticed a small bucket up by his window.
That’s right! Before everything went downhill, he had a bucket where he’d accept gifts from any of his fans while he was away or was too tired to come out of his house!
“Mr. Onceler, I have a gift for you.”
There was a pause, and then a longer pause. Suddenly, the sounds of clattering metal began to approach. As soon as the bucket was close enough, you hopped in - as best you could anyway.
“Okay I’m leaving now!”
The Onceler waited for what seemed like an eternity before quickly pulling the bucket up to his window. He peeked through the holes of his boarded up window and that’s when he saw…
“Y/N?”
His voice was trembling, and his eyes appeared shiny and reddish.
“Onceler, let me talk to you. Let me help you! You can get through this. It isn’t too-”
“You shouldn’t be here Y/N. The air is too polluted. Go into town, it’s farther. It’ll be safer for you.”
The bucket started to lower, so as fast as you could you swung it forward, grabbing onto the boards. You were now dangling off of them, as the bucket was on the ground.
“Y/N!”
The Onceler punched through the wood and pulled you inside. He fell backwards, and you collapsed on top of him. You could now see the state of his room. It was nearly empty, except for a bed, a drawer, and lots of tissues and empty marshmallow bags all around. Onceler hugged you tight, sniffling and crying.
“I’m so sorry. I didn’t mean to push you away! I was just so lost in my own head. Will you forgive me, Y/N?”
“Of course, Oncie! I was never upset with you, I was just so worried. I wanted to tell you that it isn’t all as bad as it seems. You still have all the money you had before. You still have all this land to remake what’s been destroyed. You still have me! Unless we do something now, this will all be lost to time.”
The Onceler looked at you, and then to the window.
“Unless we… Unless someone like you cares a whole awful lot, nothing is going to change… That’s it! Y/N, you’re a genius!”
“I am?”
Onceler took your arm and pulled you up off the ground. He walked over to the little drawer and opened it, reaching in to find a little brown seed.
“Oncie… is that?”
“Yes. The last truffula seed. I think you should be the one to plant it.”
“I think we should plant it together. And I have the perfect spot. Come on!”
You led the Onceler back to his wagon you’d been staying in. Everything outside was dark and gray, but the wagon was still a place full of warm light.
“If we plant it here, Oncie, we could bring the forest back. One truffula seed at a time! Does that sound good?”
The Onceler nodded, and you got to work. Using a little shovel you found inside, you dug a hole in the ground. Onceler looked hesitant, so you took his hands in your own and planted the seed into the ground together. You enveloped the little truffula in soil, and stood back to admire your progress.
“Now it just needs…”
“I’ve got it!”
The Onceler ran inside and came back out with a little metal watering can. He watered the seed, and reached out to hold your hand.
“What if it doesn’t grow?”
“I’m sure it will. I’ve heard that truffula trees grow much faster than any other kind. We can check in tomorrow?”
Onceler nodded, and placed his head on top of yours. You felt him shaking a little. With that, you led him inside and sat down on the bed.
“Do you want anything to eat?”
“Oh, Y/N, you’ve been troubled with me enough already. I think what I’d like the most would be for you to just relax.”
You smiled, and headed over to the couch to lay down. You assumed the Onceler needed space, since he’d locked himself away for a month now. About a half hour passed, and neither of you were asleep yet.
“Y/N… I don’t want to sleep alone tonight.”
You picked up a bag of marshmallows you’d been munching on, and offered him one in his bed. You fed him some more, and eventually the two of you cuddled to sleep. With that, the night was over. The next day, the truffula seed had grown to a little fluffy pink sprout. Eventually, the two of you managed to replant almost the entire valley together. The Lorax didn’t show up immediately, but in time he came back to help out, bringing back all the wildlife that had travelled away long ago.
and that’s it! hope it’s good and fluffy enough, I got a little carried away in the beginning there 😿

It’s two days later that Mitch turns up on your parent’s doorstep. You answer the door half asleep because you got off shift twelve hours ago and there’s a deep set exhaustion inside of you that has nothing to do with physicality and everything to do with the mess inside your head.
“Put on some sneakers.” He says, tucking his hands into the light blue windbreaker you’re wearing. “We’re going running.”
“You gave up the right to tell me what to do when you served me with separation paperwork.” You remind him, your temple coming to rest on the door and his jaw tenses as he looks down the street for a second.
“I deserved that.” He says before he tilts his head towards you. “But I’ve been where you are right now Marley and it’s a really dark fucking place. Trust me this helps.”
He doesn’t flinch when he meets your gaze and you sigh before you retreat into the house and step into your running shoes before snatching up your jacket, headphones and phone.
“Fine but I’m listening to my Yellowstone playlist.” You tell him as you place the earbuds in your ears.
“Sure.” He says as he takes out his own matching set.
It takes the two of you a second to sync your phones to the Bluetooth before Mitch takes off, leaving you to follow his lead. It’s a new route, one you don’t recognise until you end up running along the lake with Mitch by your side. He’s slowed his step to keep pace with you, his skin is flushed from the exertion and the cold as he draws to a halt underneath the railway bridge.
“I wanted to show you this.” He says as he gestures at the graffiti art sprayed onto the wall.
It’s a Brenda Barnum piece, a mural of white daisies painted onto the concrete amidst yellow and green hues and it makes something inside of you light up the way it always does when you see something of hers.
You’d always been a weird kid, perfect on the surface but with an oddness underneath. You didn’t like the same things as other kids, you liked quirky things, vivid colours and shit that challenged your thinking. There was always a battle to conform and you had because it made life easy but you never really felt like you fit. You’d lived with that feeling for years, thinking there was something wrong with you until you saw one of Brenda Barnum’s paintings and in that moment you realised that you didn’t have to hide yourself, you could be exactly who you wanted to be.
You’d told this to Mitch when you’d taken him to an exhibition in the early stages of the relationship, you’d explained how each painting made you feel like you’d been seen, like someone had taken the thoughts out of your head and committed them to canvas.
When he’d finished renovating the house, he’d put a framed museum print of ‘Purple Firecracker’ on the wall above your bed because he knew how much you loved the piece.
“I know you feel displaced right now.” He tells you as he leans back against the concrete pillar. “That you don’t know which way is up but I thought this could be your anchor point, a reminder of who you are underneath the rest of the shit that’s going on in your head.”
Your chest grows tight as you stare at the colours, the vividness, the complexity and in that moment everything just quietens.
“Thank you.” You say finally because you’ve been on the edge ever since you got your diagnosis and this is the first time you’ve actually allowed yourself to take a breath, to step back from the abyss that threatens to swallow you up.
“I mean it.” You say as you tilt your head towards him and his cheeks start to colour. “Thank you Mitch, for bringing me here, for reminding me I’m stronger than this.”
“You’re the toughest person I know Marley.” He tells you as he pushes off the pillar. “You just needed to find yourself again.”
“Yea.” You say, your gaze straying back to the artwork in front of you. “Yea I did.”

secret relationship with bakugo~
INCLUDES: KATSUKI BAKUGO
WARNINGS: implied fem reader, vulgar language, sexual themes
MASTERLIST
WORDS: 1.8K
Tumblr media
Bakugo is known for his heartbreaking nature as a pro hero. Since he has been in many open relationships, each is heavily surveyed by the media at all times.
usually dating other pro-heroes or random A-list celebrities. He has broken, maybe even shattered, everyone's heart.
so when he wrote his number down on the bill you gave him and handed it back to you, you were shocked.
so…he’s into waitresses now?
You were working a long 9-hour shift at a local noodles restaurant located in the heart of the city. Back aching and eyes dry, you give your all as each customer you greet is shown a million-dollar smile.
When the time came 1 minute before closing, you began to untie your oily apron until a loud bell rang. Signaling that someone had just come through the door.
You almost collapse in agony at the sound. Collecting yourself you stomp out the back and head to the front.
“Excuse me! I'm sorry but we're--" As you saw the person standing patiently at the front, your words caught in your throat.
Pro-Hero Dynamight?
His red eyes pierced yours as he stared at you. Your eyes travel down his body, his hero suit still on, a little torn and muddy, must've had a little tussle.
the rumors are true, he's way more attractive in person. His toned muscles were drenched with sweat as you watched them glisten in the city lights.
you now understand why he gets into relationships so easily, even with such a hideous personality, he's drop-dead gorgeous.
as your eyes travel back up to his face, you notice he had a smug grin. Sighing, the pro-hero slowly folds his head back to brush through his hair. He walks towards your figure, as the only thing separating you two is the front desk.
"I know you're closed and all, but you don't mind staying open for a hard workin' hero like myself would ya?" voice deep and strong as it bounced off the walls of the empty restaurant.
Still stunned, you shakily nod. Swiftly returning to the kitchen with quick steps your body crashes into the dish sink, your hands gripping tight into the curved metal. Your body hangs almost limply above the dirty dishes you forgot to wash.
"pro-hero dynamight is in my resturant!" you squealed quietly. you were fangirling quite hard, as this interaction was almost comparable to meeting royalty.
"hello? any fucking day!" the pro-hero yells, snapping you from your daze. you jumped, hurrily grabbing a paper and pen and dash out to the dining floor.
In the back of the room, you can see the pro-hero seated in a corner booth, away from windows.
walking over you look down at him, a pen and paper in hand ready to take his order. "Are you ready?" you politely asked.
"does it look like i'm fuckin' ready? gimmie a sec" he grumbled. It's possible that he would have caught you completely gawking at him if he hadn't been eyeing the menu.
the dim yellow light hanging from the ceiling shines on his sharp facial features. Vermillion eyes glowing, his lips pursed as he's in deep thought trying to choose his next meal.
his lips were so pink and looked so soft, you bet he was a fantastic kisser, there's no doubt about that. you imagined his lips on yours, you imagined how he'd grab your waist and pull you in deeper and deeper until you were gasping for another breath.
god, you wish he could just take you to this dining table right now–
"I'll take this," the pro-hero says, pointing at the spicy noodles.
you snap out of your daze once more, and let out a shy smile.
"coming right up sir!" you take a sharp bow (which makes him roll his eyes) and head into the kitchen to make his meal. after nearly 20 minutes, you serve him a hefty bowl of spicy ramen noodles. "It's on the house" you said with a tired smile.
the hero nods in gratitude and goes to town on his noodles. walking away to stand behind the front desk, still taking your chances for a quick glance at the oh-so-handsome hero.
In another 20 minutes, you were wiping imaginary stains on your counter until the clank of a bowl was heard.
You jump, snapping your neck towards the sound, looking up to see the pro-hero smirking at you.
“Finished. How much?” He says. You tilt your head at the question. “For the food, princess.”
The pet-name sent you into a flustered frenzy. “Oh! Um, like I said it’s on the house…to thank you for your service” you mumbled. This earned a genuine smile from the hero.
Chuckling, he leans in close to you. His arms rest on the counter, toned biceps flexed with ease and his chest tall and forward exuding confidence.
“Y’know I’ve been going here since high school…and I’ve never seen you here before. And I come here often.”
His voice was smug, the tone of his voice smooth like honey as the words from his lips drip-dropped off his tongue with ease.
“Well…I’ve been working here for about a month so–“
“That’s why my noodles weren’t as spicy as they usually are,” He says. This makes your eyes widen "Oh! I’m so sorry! The next one is on the house again-“
“Don’t get your panties in a twist, it was still tasty " he spits. The next time, don’t stare at your customers so hard. Usually not one for stares but…your cuteness makes up for it.”
Before you could react, the hero reaches into his pocket and slams down the exact amount for the food.
“It’s late, get home soon cutie” he says, a small smile on his lips as he flashes a quick wink your way.
Putting his mask on in a hurry, he walks into the darkness of the night.
You stood in shock, gazing at the pro-hero in awe. Did he just call you cute?
Letting out a sigh, you look down to take the cash. Only to realize a pink piece a paper was on top of the cash.
‘XXX-XXX-XXXX consider this as a tip.’
You couldn't even think, he just gave you his fucking number.
After several booty calls and three more “let’s see each other again”, you find yourself laying down in the pro-hero Dynamights' bedroom. Flicking through TV channels, wearing nothing but an oversized Dynamight shirt and a pair of panties.
Pro-hero? Sorry, you meant Bakugo now.
Pressing the remote over and over, the screen flashes quickly. The RGB lights flicker from the screen and into your eyes, you let out a bored sigh.
News? Boring.
Home channel? Not in a interior design mood.
Cooking shows? No point, you can’t get any hungrier.
What’s this? The gossip channel?
Legs swinging off the bed suddenly come to a halt, you noticed it was currently on a hero segment. Talking about some pro-hero Chargebolt? You didn’t know him personally, all you knew was that he bought another damn car.
“Y’know what’s shocking me? It’s been 6 months since we’ve heard any buzz in the dating scene about pro-hero dynamight!” The female reporter gushed.
Rolling your eyes, you stayed glued to the action. Anticipating hearing their opinions.
“I agree! I mean– I’m truly surprised he’s not in a relationship. Maybe he’s finally decided to focus on building himself up in the ranks. Being the #4 hero is good…but compared to last year being in the #2 spot–“
“I’m turning this shit off” you hear your boyfriend grunt. Hair wet and most of his body still wet from the shower, a towel loosely hanging from his waist.
Stomping towards you, he snatches the remote and quickly turns it off. Which earns an exasperated whine out of you.
“I was watching that!” You protested. Bakugo rolls his eyes, “so you were entertained watching random ass people talk shit about me?” He spits.
Lifting yourself off your stomach, you crawl towards the edge of the bed with a giggle. Taking a deep breath, walking on your knees, you reach out to your boyfriend and wrap your arms around him.
“not exactly”
Leaning in to kiss him, he quickly grabs your waist and pushes you into the bed. You laugh at the sudden force, the bakugo crawls on top of you. Tiny water droplets hit your face.
“So is it true?” You asked, your voice softer than it was a mere moment ago. Bakugo mumbles, too busy kissing your neck.
Sighing, you push yourself away, earning an irritant groan. “Is what true, beautiful?” He finally answers.
“You haven’t been dating anyone for more than 6 months, which means we’ve been together for that same amount of time” you say.
“All signs point to yes, why’ya ask?” He says, his body collapsing on the side of you. His muscular arm snakes around your waist and pulls you close to him.
“I don’t know, I’m just shocked…I didn’t know you’d be the waitress type” you say, which makes Bakugo chuckle.
“I know, everyone is so used to me dating the hottest of the hottest I guess, but they’re not as hot as you baby” Leaning in, he plants a quick peck on your lips.
Grabbing his face you go in for another, more intimate kiss. Hiking your leg up against his torso as his hands reach for your bottom, giving it a gentle squeeze.
Pulling away from the kiss on your forehead, looking deeply into his eyes, you laughed. “What?” Bakugo smiled.
“I don’t know…I’m just surprised you chose me out of all those other guys and girls. I like you a lot Bakugo, you know that right?” Your voice soft and attentive rang through your boyfriend's ear like a beautiful symphony.
“I needed change in my life. I wanted to slow down. I was tired of living the fast life, and I wanted to fuckin’ settle” he says.
“I knew walkin’ into that restaurant you were gonna be the one, you were too cute to pass up” he mumbles sweetly, planting a soft kiss on your lips.
“So you walked in on purpose?” You chuckled.
“I may have seen you working earlier that day and found you hot. I was praying to any and every god that you would still be there after patrol. And God gave me their blessing” he says.
Sighing, you drop your head into his chest.
The shared bedroom is subdued by a long, comfortable pause.
You never knew Bakugo felt that way towards you. At first you felt like you were just a booty call. After that, you noticed how much you clicked with each other.
From general conversation to sexual attraction, the relationship was solid.
You didn’t know if it was going to last. But now, you felt like the luckiest girl in the world knowing Bakugo planned you for the long-haul.
“Let’s make it official”
Bakugo breaks the silence. Turning your head to him you let out a last gasp. “A-are you sure?” You stuttered.
“Hell yeah, I need to let these fuckers know you’re mine and that I dare anyone to lay a mere pinky toe on you.”
You laugh at Bakugo’s broad statement, cuddling at him you nod.
“Okay, let’s make it official.”

Graceland Too
Pairing: Joel Miller x fem!reader (plus platonic Ellie Williams x fem!reader)
Author’s note: okay but I kinda want to write this into a series (gif by @loregifs)
Summary: “I think we deserve a soft epilogue, my love. We are good people and we’ve suffered enough.” - Seventy Years of Sleep #4. nikka ursula aka Miller/Williams family time plus one [1.1k]
Warnings: Pregnancy talk, tooth rotting fluff, can be read as an additional part to What Sarah Said and Sweet Jane but can also be read as a stand-alone, that’s all
Tumblr media
"How's are the Miller's doing today?" He asks as he walks into your shared room. You're laid on your side, counting baby kicks obsessively and trying not to fall asleep. It's still the middle of the day, and your sleep is already fucked. Rest has not gotten easier as the weeks have passed, but it feels especially impossible now at thirty-four weeks.
It's been a relatively normal pregnancy. Your morning sickness returned with a vengeance and got so bad that you had to go to the hospital to get fluids because you were throwing up so much. It's subsided a little in your second and third trimesters, but even the slightest smell can make you nauseous for the rest of the day. Poor Joel had to switch soaps three times before finding something that didn't agitate either of you. These days, you're exhausted, sore, and ready not to be pregnant anymore.
"This one," you point to your swollen stomach. "Has been kicking my ass all day. I barely got out of bed before I had to lie back down." You sigh. Joel kisses you before leaning down and kissing your belly.
"You be nice to your mama," he says, and you laugh when the baby kicks in defiance. You grab his hand and place it where you just felt them, and he smiles when the baby kicks at him, too. "Stubborn."
"Wonder where they get it from." You hum, and he smiles. For a while, you two lay together, feeling for tiny movements as the sun shines high in the sky. He lights up each time the baby moves against his hand, which is more than enough to tolerate the constant kicks in your ribs. He loves this baby so much already.
"You're in the home stretch now," he says. "Any last guesses on what you think it'll be?"
"I still think it's a girl. I'd be shocked if we had a boy."
"I think it's a boy."
"Because you want a boy or because you actually think it's a boy?"
"Excuse me, I do think it's a boy, and I'd be just as happy if we had a girl," he says as he runs his hand over the hill of your belly. "You're carrying lower. My mama always used to say that was a good way to tell what someone was having."
"Alright, I'll let you have it. Ellie thinks it's a boy, too. She said she just felt it," you look down and poke at your stomach. "Whoever you end up being, can you come out soon? I'm tired."
"Couple more weeks."
"Easy for you to say."
"That's true," he says as you push the hair out of his eyes. "D'you think we're ready?"
"I think it's a little late to ask that, cowboy," you laugh, and he rolls his eyes. "But, yes, I think we're ready." You, Ellie, and Joel spent weeks converting one of the old rooms in the house into a nursery. At first, they were fine with you helping, but as the weeks passed and you got bigger, they put their foot down. Even if you picked up an empty box or a paintbrush, Ellie would yell from the other side of the room and take it from your hands. When they painted, they barely let you in the house because they thought the fumes would harm you and the baby. You've had to remind them that you've been the one to save their asses multiple times, and you can still do things even though you're pregnant, but you might as well have been talking to a brick wall.
Joel and Ellie built most of the nursery together— everything from the crib to the rocking chair to the space mobile hanging from the ceiling. They painted the walls a pretty yellow, making the dusty, old room fit for the newest Miller. They painted a growth chart by the door and even marked their own heights and ages in pencil on the wall. You came in when you heard them giggling, and then they insisted on marking how far your bump came out on the wall, too. You couldn't say no when they looked at you with those stupid grins and big eyes. Ellie took a polaroid of you standing in front of the chart as Joel pressed a paint-stained hand to your stomach and kissed you.
Seeing her so excited about the new baby made both of you feel so much better. She's talked nonstop about everything she wants to do with the baby pretty much since she found out you were pregnant. You were unsure how she would react since she's been your only priority for years now, and she's getting older, but she's ecstatic. She held your hair when you woke up throwing up, and Joel was on patrol. She made you soup and reminded you to take the way-too-expensive prenatal vitamins. She even learned to play lullabies on her guitar to sing to the new baby. She'd be a great mom.
"I'm so excited to meet them," Joel says softly, and you smile.
"Me too," You say. You lean in to kiss him and barely graze his lips when the baby kicks in Joel's direction. You try to ignore it and kiss him again when they do it again. They kick you hard enough that Joel feels the baby's foot against his hand, and you both laugh. "I can't believe we're getting cockblocked by a fetus."
"How do you think you got here?" Joel asks loudly, looking down at your stomach.
"What the fuck are you talking about?" Ellie asks as she walks into your room, and you laugh.
"Every time I try to kiss Joel, the baby kicks at him," you say. She gives you that classic Ellie stink face, and you hold out your hand. "C'mere." You urge. She hesitates before walking over to your side of the bed. You take her hand and let her feel the baby's movements, making her smile.
"That's so weird," she says but doesn't move her hand. She lingers, having a semi-private moment with the baby as they turn and wiggle against each of their hands. They are moving back and forth between Joel and Ellie, like they can't decide who they want to hang out with, but they want to be involved. Ellie crouches down next to the bed, resting her chin on her hand, and Joel traces little patterns into the fabric of your shirt. Slowly, the baby settles down and falls asleep, their movements less crazy but still sporadic.
Ellie and Joel come to the same conclusion but don't move. They stay there with you and the baby as the day rages on outside. Let it rage, you think. I have everything I need right here.

Would You Have Me?- Sirius Black.
Pairing: Sirius Black x fem!reader
Summary: Y/N is the only person in Sirius’ life he truly cares about, he wouldn’t mind if it was only them
Warnings: modern high school au!, written in third person (she/her pronouns) (1.6k words)
Author's note: this is a reupload, I wrote this a while ago!
Reblogs and comments are greatly appreciated<3
⟡ ⟡ ⟡ ⟡ ⟡ ⟡ ⟡ ⟡ ⟡ ⟡ ⟡ ⟡ ⟡ ⟡ ⟡ ⟡ ⟡ ⟡ ⟡ ⟡ ⟡ ⟡ ⟡ ⟡ ⟡
The final bell rang, it was Friday hundreds of students poured out of the school doors ready for the weekend. Y/N was among the swarm of kids, headed toward her bus. Thankful it was the weekend, this week had been a lot on her. Off in the distance, she could hear her name over the loud voices. Looking around shielding her eyes from the sun, she could see a tall boy headed her way.
It was Sirius
"There you are," he said when he reached her, throwing his arm around her shoulder "Where are you off to?" he asked
"My bus" she pointed to the big yellow vehicle
"C'mon, I'll take you home" he offered
"Really?" she asked
"Yeah, you can tell me all about your day"
They walked to the student parking lot, Sirius drove a black '89 Dodge charger. It was a little squeaky, but he loves that car.
He opens the passenger door for Y/N, closing it once she was in. Sirius Drove the long way to her house so they could talk longer.
"How was your day, dear?" he asks pulling out of the campus
"It was fine, I'm glad the week is over. Everything has been a lot lately"
It was their junior year, everyone is starting to worry about their futures. Their career, college, exams, everything stressful.
"I know what you mean, it feels like we have to know everything about the future before it happens" he replies
They continue their conversation all the way to Y/N's house. They've always been able to tell each other everything without feeling judged. Nowadays, it feels like you have to make sure everything is perfect because the whole world is watching, waiting for you to fall.
He was her safe place, and she was his.
Sirius pulls up in front of her house, parking the car.
"Thanks for the ride, Sirius" she says opening the car door
"Of course, love. Hey, do you wanna hang out tomorrow?" he asks
"Yeah, sure I'll ask my parents. I'll text you" she answers
"Great, I'll see you soon then" He smiles
"Bye" she says closing the door.
He waits for her to go inside before driving off like he does every time. He sees her almost every day, but he still gets excited when they hang out. It's like a new experience every time, even when they've done it one hundred times before.
-
When he got home, he waited anxiously for her text. Her parents have never said no before, but it still made him a little nervous. He's made sure over the years that her parents liked him, he didn't want them to think he was just some guy who was only hanging out with their daughter to get in her pants.
He started his homework that probably won't get finished till Monday morning, checking his phone every few minutes.
Finally, after what felt like an hour, she texted him
parents said it's cool What did you have in mind?
Movie? Wonka is still showing. Stay at my place after?
Timothee Chalamet? HELL YEAH! Definitely down for a sleepover
 Great! I'll pick u up at 4
See you then! <3
He was happy that she could come, he liked being able to get out of the house and escape with her. Everyone has family issues, his family was distant from each other. It was almost like they were roommates, not a family. His parents didn't care if he was gone or if he had someone over.
His brother stayed in his room most of the day when he got home from school. Their bond was limited to short interactions in the dining room on special occasions.
Y/N was his real family, she was always there for him whenever he needed her. At school, many people claimed to be his friend, they'd say hey in the hallway or talk about some game that happened the night before. None of them would actually have a real meaningful conversation with him.
He didn't get why he was so popular, he was sociable and easy on the eyes sure, but nobody knew the real him. It seemed like they had all made a false version of him in their heads. A mysterious ladies' man who could have anyone he wanted.
That wasn't true at all, he wasn't a mystery at all. He was very open once you got to know him, only Y/N had ever made the effort to do so. The whole 'ladies' man' thing was really funny to him. He'd never had a serious girlfriend, a few dates here and there but nothing real.
Many of those girls thought that him and Y/N had a thing going on so they would stop talking to him completely. At first he didn't know why they would think that, he thought their friendship seemed very platonic. Then he realized some of the things they would do seemed a little too friendly.
That didn't stop him. If he was honest, he didn't care about those girls at school. If there was only one girl in the world and he had to pick her. It would be Y/N. Always Y/N.
-
Saturday came around, Sirius waited all day for 4 o'clock. He didn't like to be late, he pulled up in front of her house a few minutes early so he could greet her parents.
Turning off his car, walking up to the front door. He rings the doorbell that has a little camera on it. A few seconds later, her mother opens the door
"Sirius, how are you, dear?" she asks bringing him in for a hug
'I'm great, Mrs. L/N. How's everything?"
"Everything's fine, Y/N should be ready by now." she told the boy "Y/N, Sirius is here!" she yelled up the stairs
She came down the stairs, a small bag in her hand.
"Sorry, had to make sure I had everything, are you ready?" she asks Sirius
"Yeah, I'll see you later, Mrs. L/N"
He and Y/N get in his car, driving to the local movie theater.
That movie was almost 3 hours long, but that's okay. They didn't mind sitting in a dark room together in silence. It was much later, the sun was starting to set when they headed towards Sirius' house.
His parent's car wasn't in the driveway thankfully, awkward hellos are never fun. They realize they're starving and order take out.
Once it finally arrives, he takes her up to his room. Passing by Regulus' room, she could hear gunfire from some video game.
"Don't mind him, it's like he's married to the game. Hardly comes out the room" Sirius explains opening his bedroom door.
It was relatively clean, only because he knew she was coming over. His walls were lined with movie posters from the 80s and now, some of his favorite vinyls, and photo booth pictures of him and Y/N from various locations.
He made sure his space represented him. The real him.
They spend the next couple of hours eating and watching random videos on youtube until they got bored of it. Putting on Evermore on as background music as they talked.
Both of them are sitting on the floor, Sirius leaning against the wall, Y/N against his bed
They jumped from topic to topic as the night progressed, getting into the more personal topics. A few weeks ago, Y/N started talking to a boy named Kevin. She seemed to have liked him until she stopped talking about him.
Sirius had been curious about that for a while, he thought it was a good time to ask
"Whatever happened to that Kevin guy? I thought you two were getting serious" he asks
"Oh him? That's long gone" she shrugged, "He said he just didn't feel anything for me" she explained, she didn't show it but she was a little hurt by the boy's words.
"Oh my god, he sucks. Anyone would be more than lucky to have you" He was mad that anyone would treat her like this. "Fuck that guy"
"It's alright, I didn't need him in my life" she wanted to get the topic off her "What about you? Anyone new in your life?"
"Nah" he smiles "I don't want anyone new, honestly"
"What do you mean?" she asks
"I'm happy just having you in my life, sometimes I wish it could always just be you and me" he says in a low voice
"That would be great, honestly. Just us against the world" she agrees
"Y/N?" his voice barely above a whisper, fidgeting with a ring on his hand
"Yeah?"
He swallowed before replying, "I think I'm in love with you"
"What?" she laughed nervously, he got up and sat next to her
"When I think of my future, having a family and owning a house, you're there right next to me. I've tried to convince myself that it's only because there isn't anyone else in my life" He pauses searching her face for any sort of bad emotion "I know now, it's because I don't want anyone else in my life but you"
Y/N's brain was all over the place, trying to figure out what to say. Sirius has been her rock for so long, she had a small crush on him. She didn't think he would ever reciprocate it
"I don't know what to say" she admits
"That's alright, you don't have to say anything. If you're willing, maybe we could see if this goes anywhere?"
She reaches down grabbing his hand, lacing her fingers with his. "I think we can make it work" she smiles "After all, we're still getting married at 30 right?" she laughed
"Right Right. A pact is a pact, dear" he smiles
She gives him a small kiss on the cheek, slowly pulling away. Their faces were dangerously close together, warm breath fanning against their skin. Y/N closes the distance. Their lips perfectly fitting each other, just like they were made for each other.
Sirius pulled away, not wanting things to get carried away. Y/N rest her head on his shoulder
"So, what color should our invitations be?"

[ Uh oh gang.. It's the dead of night, and there is a consistent clatter coming from the farm area is probably not good ]
[ Upon inspection (if she ever does decide to check things out!!), the livestock are completely untouched! Bini's carrot crops, however? Have seen better days.. Mounds of dirt and devoured vegetables lay in a messy pile, and something bent over on all fours can be seen in her crop plot.. Absolutely HOUSING those veggies, and that dirt! ]
Tumblr media
[ Oh my god. Oh my god what is that thing!!! What is it doing here!!?!! ]
Bini had woken up from the loud noises that came from outside. She groans softly, blinking away the sleep from her eyes. She checks the clock: twelve in the morning, sharp at midnight.
"The hell..? What's going on?" The deer-like Sprunki asks herself before stretching her arms and climbing out of bed. Bini firstly grabs her trusty machete from under her bed, then she walks out of her room.
"Eek!" A small screech escaped another person's lips as soon as Bini opened the door. It was Russet, her little nephew. "Auntie? Why are you awake?"
"I should be asking you that question, Rus," Bini replies, patting his head gently. "Why are you awake? It's midnight."
"Oh, I heard a loud noise outside. I thought of checking what was going on," he replies to her, his arms hugging himself. "It was really loud."
She nods at his reason, her eyes full of understanding. She says, "I see. Why don't you go back to bed? Auntie can handle this." And Russet walks back to his bedroom.
Bini takes a deep breath before she starts marching towards the door. She swings it open, asserting dominance to whatever or whoever trespassed her property. She takes slow steps, her grip on the machete's handle tightening. Her night vision was naturally activated, she was a deer, after all.
Bini checks the barn. Her chickens, cows, sheep, pigs... all of them were unharmed. She sighs in relief before becoming tense once more, her ears perked up at the sound of rustling and munching. She decides to go to her fields of crops, and she gasps at the sight of what has happened.
All of her crops were messily devoured, thrown into a big dirty pile of eaten food. The carrots, potatoes, parsnips, cauliflower... these were the crops she was about to harvest! "Damn it." She mutters angrily.
"Okay, whoever's out here, I have a machete and I'm not afraid to use it!" She yells, uncaring if the neighbors would later complain about it at sunrise. "It's not nice to eat someone's crops like that, y'know?"
Then, a low growl. Bini instantly freezes in place, her eyes wide as they lock with another's.
It was a large creature, an entity, perhaps. Even with Bini's night vision, its glowing, yellow eyes outshine its figure. She could not point who it is, but somehow, the entity looked familiar.
Until she saw the yellow antennae. Bini immediately got the hint, gasping loudly before stepping back.
"S-Simon?!"
